But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Hi Jorts!
I felt the need to come tell you about how your fics were relevant on my trip today.
We went on a day trip to Frankenmuth in Michigan and they have Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, which is like, the biggest Christmas store in the world or something? ANYWAYS LOTS OF CHRISTMAS it’s very large but also it has a slightly unfortunate name because I’ve been calling it Boners all day. 😂
So my entire day has been giggling at Boner’s Christmas Wonderland where Hank is obviously the Santa
I also just started reading long way home and the amount of Michigan Bigfoot merch that I came across today was wild and felt very fitting. <3
TEM!!!!! Thank you so much for this ask 😂 Hank, Connor, and Cole spend the day at the giant Christmas superstore and immediately after they drop Cole off at his mom's house, Connor slides his hand up Hank's thigh and says, "So will you take me to Boner's Christmas Wonderland now?" Hank rolls his eyes but ends up putting on the suit and doing as Connor asks
I'm so glad to know that no matter the au, these two are in the right place 💗 I was absolutely delighted to find out that Bigfoot is A Thing in Michigan. I'm so happy that you're reading long way home, sorry I haven't been able to reply to comments recently (it took me how long just to answer this ask?) but please know I OWE YOU MY LIFE. I am just thrilled every time I get a comment from you and they are really helping me through a weird time in my life! I appreciate you 💕💕

Damp January ...?
You've noticed, no doubt, that "Dry January" - the challenge to abstain from alcohol for 31 days following the traditional over-indulgence of the holidays - is back in the news.
Feeling a touch fuzzy from our New Year's Eve celebration, I asked Sharon, "Should we give it a try?"
"OK," she replied. Then, after a pause, asked, "But what about the free drink we're supposed to get on the flight home Wednesday ...?"
(The illustration shows a sample of booze-related ornaments sold at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, Michigan. The store has a whole section devoted to liquid cheer.)

Has Sophie Walten ever had handmade fudge. Has she ever had a coney dog. Has she ever crossed the Mackinac bridge. Has she ever had the taffy. Does she know what Bronners Christmas Wonderland is. Has she ever swam in Lake Superior

Daniel isn’t sure how many more Christmas decorations he and Sadie can fit into their attic. In the before times (before 2002, before the accident, before Sam), Sadie and Daniel would pile the kids in the car and take them to Frankenmuth shortly after Thanksgiving. Frankenmuth is Michigan’s little Christmas town, complete with rival chicken dinners and Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the world’s largest Christmas store. Over the years, they must have bought over half of their favorite Christmas decorations from there: stockings, garlands, ornaments, little statuettes of Santa that Daniel’s mother hated because they made no attempt at being religious (with no self-awareness that her “Santa kneels before the baby Jesus” figurine is more blasphemous than anything in Sadie and Daniel’s home). It’s a great cheesy little time. Nobody loved going there more than Sam. He loved the accordions at the Bavarian Inn, the orange-and-vanilla soft serve at dessert, and buying as many kitschy ornaments as he could. Sam loved a Frankenmuth Christmas, and so, Sadie loved it, too.
For the last five years, Sadie and Daniel have carefully avoided Frankenmuth. They’ve avoided anything that reminds Sadie too much of her twin, but especially things at Christmastime. It’s a shame, Sadie often says, that Sam had to die on the day he liked best. They don’t usually say much after that.
It’s been almost five years since the accident, and today, two days after Thanksgiving, Sadie rolls over in bed and says, “I think I’d like to go to Frankenmuth.” Daniel immediately springs into action. It’s been five years since Sadie’s even said the word Frankenmuth, and it doesn’t matter what other plans they thought they might have today. Daniel thinks of it like the first three months that Sadie was pregnant with Michael, when she was so sick, she could barely eat. When she finally said she’d like a Papa Burger, but only from the A&W in Dexter, Daniel drove all the way out there. Today, if she wants to walk through all twenty-seven acres of Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, Daniel will make it happen. That’s just what you do when your wife says she’s ready for something. You make it happen.
They pile the kids in the car about an hour later, just like they always did. Michael grabs Sadie’s old favorite Christmas CD (a collection of cartoon Christmas classics), Rosemary asks if they can get McDonald’s breakfast on the way, and once they get there, Billy loudly asks why all the signs have capitalized the first six letters of Christmas. Sadie hides a giggle in her palm.
“You ever think what it’d be like if we hadn’t sent these kids to public school?” Daniel asks, and Sadie just laughs. Daniel’s not sure if he could be happier. Sadie’s laughing like Sadie again. Sadie’s not afraid of Christmas anymore. Sadie is laughing, and she’s as beautiful as she’s always been … as carefree as she was before life slammed into her side and skidded to a halt.
When they park their car at the Bavarian Inn, Daniel looks at Sadie for a while before they get out. She’s still smiling. He can see her healing, can see the places where she’s still cracked … but healing.
Beautiful, beautiful.
Always beautiful.
