see it in your eyes - cm punk
Tumblr media
young! cm punk x gender neutral! reader
word count: 695
warnings: slightly nsfw / suggestive throughout, don’t actually share eyeliner it’s gross, punk is in his early 20s, this is really short, not edited
you were laying on the small couch in the dressing room backstage as your boyfriend, known professionally as cm punk, got dressed to go out to the ring. his grown out blond hair was a mess as he ran his finger through it, pushing it away from his face before he walked over and lifted your legs up to sit on the couch next to you, places your legs in his lap as he began to lace up his ring boots. you watched the muscles in his arms flexing, admiring the handful of tattoos that decorated his skin.
“take a picture it’ll last longer,” he teased, looking at you sideways with a smirk, and you leaned over to kiss his cheek.
“forget the match and stay here with me,” you suggested, tangling your hand in his hair as you cradled the side of his head.
“i’ll be back before you know it and then i’m all yours.” he kissed your lips, the cold metal of his lip ring on your mouth sending a shiver up your spine. he crawled on top of you, and you both laughed as he alternated between tickling you and kissing your neck and face.
“ok ok stop!” you giggled, and he sat up, still caging you underneath him. he looked down at you and you admired how pretty his eyes were, and got an idea. “sit up for a second.” you pushed against his chest until he was sitting upright on the couch again, and you walked over to your bag. you grabbed your eyeliner pencil, wiping the end off on a kleenex before heading back over to punk and straddling him, placing yourself in his lap. his hands found your hips as you kissed him softly.
“baby, i said we don’t have time-“
“i know, relax. can i do your eyeliner?” you asked, kissing his lips softly again.
“sure,” he nodded, wrapping his arms tighter around your waist as you gently held his face. carefully applying the black pencil around his eyes, you held your breath because you were so focused on not messing it up. he shifted his hips upward slightly, and you pulled back the pencil at the sudden movement.
“don’t do that,” you muttered.
“do what?” he asked, but he smirked and did it again.
“you know what. now do you want me to accidentally stab you in the eye or are you gonna stay still?” you asked. he smiled mischievously, but stayed still long enough for you to finish his makeup. you put the cap on and set it on the table next to you, and before you could turn back , his lips were attached to your neck, surely leaving a dark hickey behind.
“punk- you’re the one who said we didn’t have time.”
“i know. i just like messing with you,” he teased, whispering next to your ear. you shivered, and you instinctively friended against his lap. punk groaned, tilting his head back against the back of the couch and exposing his neck to you. you kissed his adam’s apple before nipping at the skin under his jaw, and his hips pushed against yours again. “fuck,” he groaned. there was a knock at the door, and a voice called out ‘five minutes punk’, signalling that it was almost time for him to be in the ring.
“have fun out there,” you smiled, standing up off his lap.
“you are an evil little thing,” he groaned, standing up off the couch to head out for his match. “are you coming to watch?” he asked, fixing his hair in the mirror after you had messed it up.
“would you rather i be out there watching the match, or be here waiting when you get back?” you asked, hugging him from behind. he turned around, placing his hands in your waist and gently pushing you backwards until you tipped over the armrest of the couch to fall laying down onto it.
“be here when i get back,” he smiled, and he leaned over you to kiss you before heading out of the dressing room for his match.
you just hoped that it was a short match.

THERE WAS NO CORNER
When Carmy interrupts Sydney and Marcus' conversation to bring in the dextrose (and talk about Claire and his mom driving through the house), I should point out that I don't think there was a corner
Tumblr media
To get to that section is a straight line from almost anywhere else in the kitchen
Plus it doesn't seem like anyone else was around
I think that loud YO CORNER, was him announcing he was coming and if they were in the middle of any mushy stuff he was gonna shut it down...

A national physician group this week called for the complete termination of a Medicare privatization scheme that the Biden White House inherited from the Trump administration and later rebranded—while keeping intact its most dangerous components.
Now known as the Accountable Care Organization Realizing Equity, Access, and Community Health (ACO REACH) Model, the experiment inserts a for-profit entity between traditional Medicare beneficiaries and healthcare providers. The federal government pays the ACO REACH middlemen to cover patients' care while allowing them to pocket a significant chunk of the fee as profit.
The rebranded pilot program, which was launched without congressional approval and is set to run through at least 2026, officially began this month, and progressive healthcare advocates fear the experiment could be allowed to engulf traditional Medicare.
In a Tuesday letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) argued that ACO REACH "presents a threat to the integrity of traditional Medicare, and an opportunity for corporations to take money from taxpayers while denying care to beneficiaries."
The group, which advocates for a single-payer healthcare system, voiced alarm over the Biden administration's decision to let companies with records of fraud and other abuses take part in the ACO REACH pilot, which automatically assigns traditional Medicare patients to private entities without their consent.
CMS said in a press release Tuesday that "the ACO REACH Model has 132 ACOs with 131,772 healthcare providers and organizations providing care to an estimated 2.1 million beneficiaries" for 2023.
"As we have stated, PNHP believes that the REACH program threatens the integrity of traditional Medicare and should be permanently ended," Dr. Philip Verhoef, the physician group's president, wrote in the new letter. "Whether or not one agrees with this statement, we should all be able to agree that companies found to have violated the rules have no place managing the care of our Medicare beneficiaries."
Among the concerning examples PNHP cited was Clover Health, which has operated so-called Direct Contracting Entities (DCEs)—the name of private middlemen under the Trump-era version of the Medicare pilot—in more than a dozen states, including Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and New York.
PNHP noted that in 2016, CMS fined Clover—a large Medicare Advantage provider—for "using 'marketing and advertising materials that contained inaccurate statements' about coverage for out-of-network providers, after a high volume of complaints from patients who were denied coverage by its MA plan. Clover had failed to correct the materials after repeated requests by CMS."
Humana, another large insurer with its teeth in the Medicare privatization pilot, "improperly collected almost $200 million from Medicare by overstating the sickness of patients," PNHP observed, citing a recent federal audit.
"It appears that in its selection process [for ACO REACH], CMS did not prevent the inclusion of companies with histories of such behavior," Verhoef wrote. "Given these findings, we are concerned that CMS is inappropriately allowing these DCEs to continue unimpeded into ACO REACH in 2023."

While the Medicare pilot garnered little attention from lawmakers when the Trump administration first launched it during its final months in power, progressive members of Congress have recently ramped up scrutiny of the program.
Last month, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) led a group of lawmakers in warning that ACO REACH "provides an opportunity for healthcare insurers with a history of defrauding and abusing Medicare and ripping off taxpayers to further encroach on the Medicare system."
"We have long been concerned about ensuring this model does not give corporate profiteers yet another opportunity to take a chunk out of traditional Medicare," the lawmakers wrote, echoing PNHP's concerns. "The continued participation of corporate actors with a history of fraud and abuse threatens the integrity of the program."

Horror Movie of the Day: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
There’s a psychiatric condition known as the Capgras Syndrome: the irrational belief a person close to us has been replaced by an identical stranger. Tied to some fairly intense forms of mental illness, it can easily spiral out of control and create a sense of isolation and paranoia. But, what if multiple people suddenly started saying this at the same time?
When a strange species of flower starts appearing across the bushes and trees across the city of San Francisco, health inspector Matthew Bennel has to make this question to himself. His close friend and coworker Elizabeth Driscoll is apparently experiencing this situation: her partner Geoffrey is suddenly acting cold and distant. Matthew’s initial suggestion is for her to talk his psychiatrist friend David Kibner, but similar stories keep popping up. And then a strange, incomplete looking body appears on the spa of another of his friends. That also seems to try to mimick them.
It’s clear this is no mere delusion. Something more sinister is going on.
A remake of the eponymous 1956 classic (which is in turn based on the novel The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney), this movie takes the same core story idea of its source of inspiration and flips it on its head by simply changing the setting. Instead of taking place within the confines of a small town, having the story take place in an urban environment changes the story dynamics and even themes. Instead of an outwardly placid town where people become strangers, you get the cold strangers becoming uncannily close to each other as suddenly the city masses are all staring at you in an urban alienation nightmare.
It’s a fantastic remake of an already great movie, upping the ante while still paying respectful homage to what came before. With a stiffling, dissonant sound design, the cynicism of 70's cinema, and a splice of body horror the end result is an all time great of the genre.
