#brotp: speaking of loyalty

If your still doing snape asks
50 35 41 40 🕺
thank you for the ask, @notsosecrettunnel
35. do you have a snape brotp?
snape and lucius malfoy.
i don’t subscribe to all the fanon which surrounds these two (i don’t - for example - accept the headcanon that snape is draco’s godfather) but i see no reason why we should doubt that narcissa’s description of snape as ‘lucius’ old friend’ is sincere.
something i see a lot - especially from writers whose interest is in the characters aligned with the order - is the idea that the death eaters are all out for themselves and (outside of some fanatical outliers, such as bellatrix) that they have no genuine loyalty either to voldemort or to each other.
not so, i fear. i really dislike the idea that the death eaters all turn on each other after voldemort’s death (i prefer to think that they frustrate the shacklebolt government profoundly by refusing to talk) and i really dislike the idea that they didn’t have profound, real friendships among themselves.
it’s obvious in canon that becoming a death eater offered snape a community he truly felt welcomed by for the first time (and i think it speaks highly of him that he was nonetheless prepared to lose that when he turned against voldemort) and, part of that, is that i think it’s important to believe that his friendship with lucius was real.
after all, he’s upset when harry names him as having been present at voldemort’s resurrection in goblet of fire…
40. other than lily, who do you think impacted snape's life the most?
lord voldemort.
i don’t just mean in that voldemort’s decision to go after lily is the trigger for snape upending his entire life, but also that voldemort is evidently the first person snape ever meets who takes him seriously. it’s clear from canon that voldemort is the only person the teenage snape knows who takes an active interest in improving his life - snape must become a death eater because voldemort offers him a chance to transcend the restrictive class structure which rips opportunities away from poor half-bloods unless they have a slughorn-esque patron, and also because voldemort understands and validates snape’s attitude towards and interest in magic and experimentation [and, indeed, that he shares this].
voldemort is obviously fond of snape (he must recognise so much of himself in him - feral working-class children with muggle names and disappointing dads need to stick together, after all) and he appears to have offered him intensive training - in the dark arts, obviously, but given that voldemort describes himself in goblet of fire as someone who dabbles with inventing potions, why not that discipline too - which the adult snape makes use of throughout his teaching career.
plus - the adult snape clearly models how he speaks and comports himself (so, all the things about his demeanour which we most enjoy) on voldemort.
[seriously, they have near-identical speech patterns and they get a lot of the same movement and dialogue descriptors, which is cute.]
41. do you think that there is a side to snape that he doesn't let anyone see? what do you headcanon this "secret personality" to be like?
my hottest take?
what you see with snape is - generally - what you get.
i really dislike the preternaturally emotionally-repressed snape of fanon (and of the films - as i’ve written elsewhere, i think alan rickman played the character terribly…). the canonical snape is emotionally expressive, disinclined to pretend he likes or agrees with things he doesn’t, and someone whose feelings can often be read on his face. he keeps some things bottled up - of course - but i don’t think that, for example, his romantic partner is going to discover that he has a secret soft side (or, indeed, a secret capacity to be utterly horrible) which would sound completely, incomprehensibly out of character to anyone else they mentioned it to.
50. had snape lived, would he continue teaching at hogwarts?
ok so my other hot take… yes.
the standard wisdom in the fandom seems to be that snape loathes teaching, that he only stays in the job because he is compelled to by dumbledore as part of his spy duties, and that he feels imprisoned by hogwarts. and, obviously, the fact that he’s someone whose adult life is so relentlessly miserable in all other aspects supports the idea that he’d be miserable because of his professional circumstances too.
but…
the idea that snape hates teaching seems, to me, to stem from a misunderstanding about the narrative purpose he serves as a teacher in the series. because, while he’s certainly a cruel teacher - in keeping with his children’s literature archetype, the mean schoolmaster that the child reader can delight in seeing undermined - he’s also a good and committed one. his classes achieve extremely high results (he is able to insist on a pass rate from every pupil; he can fill his newt classes to capacity without having to lower his grade requirements), he is interested in improving the standard curriculum by modifying the potions he teaches, he clearly does take care to lead his classes through the theory of the subject (harry and ron just don’t listen to him), and he seems to take pride in his job (he’s pissed off when lockhart tries to muscle in on his turf; he delights in lording his professional expertise over umbridge).
all of which is to say… he’s back to sweeping around that dungeon the second the venom’s out of his bloodstream. slughorn’s delighted - he can retire for a second time and try and get a pineapple endorsement deal on the strength of having fought in the battle of hogwarts.

Vincent for the asky thing! He's my lil blorbo
SORRY ANON FOR TAKING SO LONG WITH FHIS ASK it got lost in my drafts oops. and also again another disclaimer—i still havent gotten to reading the ex novels but i will someday i promise 😭😭 and i do not have the attention span to read 100% of arc 7 rn but i will do my best with what i know about vincent <3 ty for trusting me with ur blorbo 👍
Sexuality Headcanon: 🏳️‍🌈👍 gay. 100%.
Gender Headcanon: ok so i do know that like hes been crossdressing since he was younger to save his life and thats why hes so like chill with crossdressing and ALSO LIKE i like the idea that hes just Super Chill with playing with his gender presentation more and he likes doing it a bit!! and like will do traditionally feminine stuff??? makeup?????? idk smth along these lines. gender nonconforming king.
A ship I have with said character: VINCENT/CHISHA 10000%. like theyre one of those pairings where its like. platonic or not they WERE super close like. insanely close. but also if u read into it as being Gay it also makes So Much Sense. like?? yes ok @ottosuwuen has that hc that vincent learned makeup or something from chisha (who clearly wears eye makeup 24/7) and like. urhgh gh the image of them doing each others makeup. OK but canonically speaking vincent/chishas relationship makes me soft. LIKE YES its partially the ottosuba shipper in me bc the obvious parallels are obvious but sometimes i just really like two mansplain manipulate malewife manwhores okay. and like the way chisha does ALL OF THIS (*insert chishas bonkers plan here*) TO SAVE VINCENTS LIFE……….. and the way they met being like vincent deciding to hire chisha wkfndn…. like……… they bend over backwards for each other i feel. theres something so sweet about it and like that Intense Loyalty there….. oh to be chisha and be loyal to your emperor Like This….. and then of course the tragedy. vincent grieving chisha broke my heart :(( their relationship just really intrigues me. its so heartfelt with a clear beginning and end and it ends so SADLY but chisha did all that to save vincent!!! chisha would want vincent to move on and be happy!!! chisha and vincents relationship didnt end happy necessarily bc chishas gone :(( but their love mattered okay it matters so much to me. and vincent. and its just crazy to me how chisha can Perfectly Imitate vincent like it shows how deep their connection was. along with of course chisha doing All Of That, as ive said.
A BROTP I have with said character: subaru and vincent + vincent and prisca/priscilla 1000%. like as for subaru and vincent like. the development of their relationship over time is really interesting to me. like they foil so well—they embody these different morals and ideals and vincent really emphasizes like cunning and ruthlessness and how you just cant be a hero or save everyone or solve things bloodlessly. and then subaru tries to do shit like his bloodless siege plan and that DID work. like i think the direction for them seems to be to have moderation with these two ideals? bc of course….. subaru cant be a hero. sometimes you cant save everyone. thats just being realistic. and on the other hand, by arc 8 vincents gone and REQUESTED the emilia camps help. which is a MONUMENTAL step given vollachias viewpoints on strength and weakness and of course the fact that vincents the emperor. like i just think subaru and vincents relationship and development together has been super fascinating. vincents not mean about natsumi (unlike rem or al…) bc why would he? crossdressing has saved his life. and vincent Has learned to trust a bit and turn to others for help by arc 8 which is super interesting i think. that and well. vincent and chishas relationship and their End to it (chisha dying :<<) got subaru thinking about how sad he’d be if otto died which…… well ig vincent and subaru gonna foil some more if otto dies 😭😭😭😭😭 LMAO… but yeah anyway i love the way vincent and subaru really emphasize and symbolize the whole themes and Contrasting Ideals of the vollachia saga. it seems like theyre set up to learn from each other some more :o
AND OF COURSE vincent and prisca. i dont know much yet but <3 like they were close!!!! they cared for each other!!!! he took the time and effort to make a plan for her to fake her death and make her new identity as priscilla!! LIKE he didnt have the heart to kill her….. in an all out fight to the death brawl with his gazillion other siblings for the throne…. like that means so much. im very interested in reading their interactions sometime <3
A NOTP I have with said character: i will probs find notps im more passionate about once i like. actually read more rezero. but like the big notp rn is like. vincent/priscilla aofndndnd PLEASE. THEYRE SIBLINGS.
A random headcanon: like okay theres the makeup headcanon but also in general i like the idea of chisha also doing vincents hair when hes crossdressing and stuff. bc chisha has Long Hair so he must know some things right?? i just love the quiet intimacy of it all……. and like u could have like. u know those moments in period dramas where the assistant to royalty is helping them dress…… yeah yeah pls i need it to happen with chisha/vincent.
General Opinion over said character: im gonna be so honest rn pls dont kill me………. but tbh for a moment when i learned the arc title for arc 8 was vincent vollachia i wanted to throw hands at first. like that was my gut reaction. not because i hate vincent but like it was me just going “URHJFGHH THE TITLE DOESNT MATCH THE OTHER ARC TITLES UNTIL THIS POINT….. NOOOO…. IT DOESNT MATCH…..” like you have arc 5 for example and its called the stars that shape history or something. and its like yeah snazzy title, fits how arc 5 revolves around such a large cast of like the main players for the royal selection. arc 7 is called land of the wolves and yep makes sense. snazzy. fits pretty well. AND THEN YOU GO TO ARC 8. AND ITS CALLED. VINCENT VOLLACHIA. A WHOLE ARC NAMED AFTER A CHARACTER??? IM SORRY BUT I STILL THINK IT DOESNT MATCH WITH THE OTHER ARC TITLES…. SORRY VINCENT BUT LIKE……. UR AN AWESOME DUDE BUT………. IT COULDVE STILL BEEN A FUN TITLE THAT REFERENCED U BUT NO ITS JUST UR NAME…… SORRY MAN BUT I JUST THINK…….
otherwise like. i was mostly neutral on vincent for a while—like ive always thought he was interesting but mostly i was only neutral bc i was more distracted but whatever the fuck my blorbo subaru has going on in arc 7 aodndnd yeah i was just distracted HAH. well that and arc 7 WAS my intro to vincent (and literally everything going on with vollachias politics) so like i didnt have much interest for most of the ex novels until i got to arc 7 and suddenly gained a bunch of side character blorbos along the way. and like admittedly arc 7 is. i feel like its chaotic which—ok yeah obviously its chaotic but i always felt like arc 5 was like more tightly knit with it? like more purposeful, and it was easier for me to get invested in everyone there bc royal selection stuff has been established since the beginning and the main storys been in/around lugunica…. until arc 7. for me it was like jarring at first. especially since like. littol old me with my lack of ex novel knowledge at the time was left floundering a bit bc WOAH VOLLACHIA THINGS ALL AT ONCE…. NEW CHARACTERS…. ANOTHER NEW CHARACTER… NEW CHARACTER NUMBER 1000… and tbh i was like. it felt so sudden all at once to me so i found it hard to be super invested in SO MANY PEOPLE all at once HAH. which i get was like. it was pretty understandable to have so many people. but it took me a WHILE to get warmed up to the vollachia drama for these reasons wkdndn so yes i warmed up to vincent even more over time <33 i think the final nail in the coffin for me caring about him was like. seeing his facade crack after he gets beat up by subaru in arc 8 and he just. Cracks. and he collapses to his knees and sobs over losing chisha and its such a human moment—like i think its easy to forget vincent is still human (ESPECIALLY when vollachia loathes weakness so much!!) bc he’ll do shit like only blinking one eye at a time bc Understandable Paranoia from being Vollachia’s Emperor and he’ll be like ruthless and cunning but like in that moment hes just. crying over losing his dearest friend bc said friend made this elaborate plan to sacrifice himself to save vincent. and when vincent just asked “why did you leave me?”…… like that survivor’s guilt and distress and despair and grief is so universal and understandable…. so YEAH HAH i really softened up some more to vincent bc like i said. its such a human moment and that moment with him and subaru is like tjis big step in vincents development. its fascinating!! im interested to see what happens next in arc 8 and im interested to learn more about him <3 i took a while to get used to the vollachia drama but now i am Very intrigued. and also i know way more lore now compared to when arc 7 first started so yayy!!!!! everyday i become even more of a nerd for rezero. 😭😭 im coming for those ex novels someday. like i said.
also his names are badass ngl. vincent abellux…. vincent vollachia….. now those are names i imagine an emperor would have HAH. good stuff.

Sir Cai/Kay?
Why I like them: Mostly out of spite because I think Chrétien de Troyes wronged him (and others, but I mostly know him) and he deserves better writing than being used as the mean guy.
Why I don’t: While I don't like the one-note character, the anger issues that make him lash out are very real, and honestly somehow scary
Favorite story: He's not a main character but I sure love Culhwch and Olwen
Favorite quote (from them or about them): Aaaah I can't find it again, it's a quote about him being so hot-blooded that the rain evaporates before touching his skin.
BrOTP: With Arthur! Foster brotherhood and loyalty and it's perfect.
OTP: With Bedwyr <3
an-oh-god-why-did-that-have-to-happen: I will go meta and talk of the bad guy flanderization again.
Unpopular opinion: You know it's hard to say what's unpopular about the character. People who talk about him are the minority.
if you could say one thing to them: I would probably ask lore questions (and he would get mad at me) (I'd like a final word about how he died but I can't ask this for obvious reasons)
Favourite portrayal of them: OMG Gradalis. It's the version I always wanted :D Though wikipedia seems to speak of a lot of interesting versions, but I'm biased and he's married to Bedwyr in this one, so...
LEAST favourite portrayal of them: The Disney version is so mean to him (there are other bad ones, but this one is especially frustrating because it's a good movie)

(ask game) ACD John Watson!
Thank you, anon!
JOHN WATSON
Favorite thing about them: I love it whenever he's allowed to be a bit of a massive bitch. When ACD lets him be petty and mean, such as when he decided to arbitrarily dislike Doulgas' wife because she was laughing with another man just a few days after his death. It gives him such a clear personality flaw, and yet one that I can't really make fun of all that much because I also act like that. Gives him a personality, even if he barely focuses on himself when he writes.
Least favorite thing about them: He's more of a writing tool than a character sometimes, to the point where there are instances where he just speaks and speaks about other people and just downplays himself. There are times in which I wish he could've shown more character, such as when Holmes comes back from the dead and his only damn reaction is passing out and then afterwards everything's okay immediately like bro where's your fucking anger where's your rage
Favorite line: "It was worth a wound--it was worth many wounds--to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask". I have it memorized, yeah
brOTP: Surprisingly enough, I don't really have one with him. While I do believe that there's a lot of potential in pairing, for example, Sherlock Holmes with Isa Whitney (from Man With a Twisted Lip), where the two of them can help each other heal from their addictions, I don't see anyone in the canon who could have a similar role in Watson's life. Perhaps I would if Doyle explored his relationship with Stanford, Phelps, Thurston, and the two doctors that were willing to take care of his practice in the canon. Sigh
OTP: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson/Mary Morstan, but like all variations of it. Holmes and Watson being queerplatonic, and Watson and Mary banging. The two of them sharing Watson because he has two hands. Lavender marriage. They just work.
nOTP: I don't have one
Random headcanon: He's left handed and pretends he's right handed (for prejudice reasons), which causes his handwriting to be ugly as hell. People sometimes joke that that's a doctor's handwriting, but he gets really uncomfortable because his actual handwriting looks nice. He writes his letters to Holmes with his left hand, 'cause he wants him to be able to read what he says, but he never admits to it. Holmes knows though.
Unpopular opinion: We, as a society, have grown too afraid of drawing Dr. John H. Watson as a fat, balding man. He's still hot, btw, all the boys and ladies want a snack out of him, but he's FAT and there's A RECEDING HAIRLINE ON HIS HEAD.
Song I associate with them: In Our Bedroom After the War - Stars
Favorite picture of them:
Tumblr media
[ IMG ID: Sidney Paget's "Silver Blaze" illustration, with Sherlock Holmes explaining something and Dr. Watson leaning back, smoking, while listening to him. Both are in a train. / END IT]
What's better than this? Two neurodivergent people (PTSD and autism) communicating.

I am always obligated to request Ranna facts for the character ask. Also Char or Cobalt as a bonus second one, dealers choice.
Ooh, thankee!
Favorite thing about them: The way that Ranna speaks was designed for every ounce of my theater tendencies, and I love it. Yes, queen, throw in an extended metaphor and an insulting euphemism. Make that sentence five times longer than it needs to be.
Least favorite thing about them: ... Having to improvise those theatrical lines as the DM.
Favorite line: All the insults. But really, the answer is something she said as the party was ramping up to go north and defeat the prince of frost. Forgive my terrible memory, it was improv multiple years ago, but it was something like, "If you are bound to face this evil, then what meager help a poet can offer, you will have. Friends and heroes, I travel with you."
Brotp: I enjoyed the rivalry between Ranna and Oliver. They bickered, they didn't respect each other, but nonetheless they had a kind of professional understanding and party loyalty. Sibling behavior.
Otp: Against all campaign and player designs, OriRanna bloomed wild in our hearts~. Oh for a burdened, genuinely good hero and the scribe who knows how the story must end but will not leave her side. I'll never be over it.
Notp: We haven't run into any. Probably Ranna/the nice young man her parents hoped she would marry.
Random headcanon: Ranna's singing voice is no good! Shocking for a bard but true; it's why she sticks to instruments and poetry. She can carry a tune, and her technique is simple but sound. But her tone is dark and brassy. She's just never going to sing prettily.
Unpopular opinion: What's to be unpopular about?
Song I associate with them: I have a whole playlist!
Favorite picture of them: [chinhands] The first portrait you did, before we knew the otp ride we were in for.
Hmmmmmmmm I miss my terrible girl.
Favorite thing about them: Char's flexibility makes her really fun to play in Situations. She's far more practical than proud. If her plan is shit, then she'll ditch it. If she needs to do something tedious or unimpressive, fine, that's her job now. She doesn't need to come out of it looking cool as long as she comes out of it.
Least favorite thing about them: I do not know how to get this woman a happy, conclusive ending.
Favorite line: I am a little stuck on the wack laugh I produced when Ledo asked, "Char... did you kill someone?"
Brotp: The great part about this party is the amount of potential in this sphere. Char already likes these losers all right. But will she form that unbreakable bond with anyone? More news in 2024!
Otp: We wait in hope. Something might come up!
Notp: None as of now.
Random headcanon: How about a random fact? If the party had left the Fenston estate with business concluded and that poor bastard had still been strung up for thieving, Char would have slit his throat on the way out.
Unpopular opinion: You guys let me know what the popular Char opinions are so that I know what to stand against. ;P
Song I associate with them: I have an even longer playlist for her....
Favorite picture of them: I treasure every Char art I get, of course. But I think at the moment, it's Bitey's young Char action shot.

Character: Lamb the vampire king
i had a lot of fun answering this. Lamb isn't a character i think about very hard or often, so it was kinda cool to stop and ask myself, "what do i think about him?"
thanks for coming to hang out! 🖤
sexuality headcanon
aromantic asexual. can't remember who, but someone else in the fandom mentioned once upon a time that they headcanoned Lamb as aroace and i was like, "yeah i fuck with that". i also hc him as being polyaffectionate and can imagine him having two or three queerplatonic or alterous partners at a time.
gender headcanon
cisgender male.
a ship i have with said character
i don't really have any Lamb/canon ships.
a BROTP i have with said character
another thing i haven't really thought about.
a NOTP i have with said character
Baz. i'm a multishipper in most of my fandoms so i can see the appeal here. i get it, and obviously have nothing against it. i could prolly fuck with Baz/Lamb/Simon as an OT3 even. but on its own... yeah, not for me.
a random headcanon:
less a headcanon and more a vague character analysis, but: Lamb is a caretaker type and his whole Vampire King of Las Vegas (or elected council position or whatever) thing was a natural ascent, i think he's really good at garnering loyalty, genuine loyalty, from other vampires bc he sincerely wants what's best for his kin, he doesn't believe in letting them starve or suffer or hide. not again, never again.
general opinion over said character
i don't care for Lamb much broadly speaking. i do think he's a really good character; when i read Wayward Son the first time, i found him interesting. i really like the scene where he teaches Baz to control his fangs, i think it's prolly one of my favourite moments in that book, second to the renaissance faire and third to when Baz makes his Things I hate, a list, but yeah, in the same vein as my NOTP answer: i can see the appeal, but he didn't stick for me.

Narsus and Farangis brotp: an incomplete compilation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way he constantly entrusts her with tasks, difficult and dangerous ones, and her unfailingly completing them, speaks volumes of the level of trust Narsus has in Farangis and her capabilities, and Farangis' trust in Narsus and his loyalty to Arslan.
Plus the way she regularly chides him regarding the Alfarīd matter, I don't like the subject matter nor Farangis' stance really (I like Alfarīd and I don't like how reluctant Narsus is, she deserves someone who wants her full-force 100%— and I don't really like how Farangis tells Narsus it's either accept Alfarīd's feelings or be single forever) (I do like her telling Narsus to have a serious conversation with Alfarīd though) (ANYWAYS that was a tangent) it feels like an elder sister scolding a younger brother, even though iirc Narsus is older than her. Farangis just proves that Elder Sister is a matter of attitude, not age lmao.
Can I see any romantic potential in them? Ehhhhhh, debatable. I don't think Farangis can see him in that way.
I much prefer them being bros.

seer (:
seer my girl the seer
this is months late LOL
favorite thing about them
i like the sounds she makes. it's very elderly woman of her
i just think her whole deal is so interesting. her loyalties remain to the radiance, that much is clear, but what did she hope for? she's so passive; once the dreamnail is awoken, she throws her hands up and says her part in this is done. what did she want to happen?
she's such a major part of the game - without the dream nail, not a single ending is possible, but we know very little about her. i just think she's interesting!
least favorite thing about them
mostly i wish there were more moth characters. and more (speaking!) characters in general from factions that co-existed with hallownest. thinking all the time about what a missed opportunity it is that there isn't a single speaking mantis character
actually in general the traitor mantises are kind of funny in how clearly they're like. "this is when team cherry ran out of money". like with how traitor lord's original boss fight was as underwhelming as it was, as well as the fact they just all have the same dream nail dialogue as traitor lord. but this is an ask. about the seer
favorite line
well...i've been practicing speedrunning TE lately, so that requires skipping A LOT of seer dialogue LOL
but yes, i've been kind of going over her lines recently and something that strikes me is just how much she talks about the radiance. she's constantly talking about the forgotten calling out, begging to be remembered. in particular what she says to ghost when they get the dreamnail is very interesting to me:
What a terrible fate they've visited upon you.
To cast you away into this space between body and soul.
Will you accept their judgement and fade slowly away?
Or will you take the weapon before you, and cut your way out of this sad, forgotten dream?
i've not been able to read these lines and not think she's directly paralleling what the dreamers did to ghost, with what the pale king did to the radiance. will you accept their judgement and fade slowly away? or will you cut your way out of this sad, forgotten dream?
brOTP
she has no friends unfortunately
i generally interpret "brotp" to mean a peer of some sort, but if we're counting any close platonic relationships, i think thistlewind is her parent and i keep thinking about her having all these complicated feelings about their ghost lingering...
i have a lot lot lot of random headcanons, like i actually think the seer is around the traitors' daughter's age? even though the traitors' daughter died in her 20s, and the seer lived much longer. and one of those is that the seer left and wandered the wastes for part of her life, and when she returned she expected, maybe hoped, that thistlewind's ghost would rebuke her for not having tended to their grave. but they didn't, because they aren't really here, and their ghost has barely noticed that she was gone. yet they linger because otherwise she would be alone...except paradoxically they serve to simply make her feel even more alone
and in general seer spends all her time around ghosts and it's kind of messed with her head a lot
OTP
her and godseeker. Not gonna explain this one
random headcanon
i honestly think she's bending the truth about the whole wielder thing, mostly because. well, it isn't mentioned anywhere else, and while that's par for the course for the moth tribe it ends up feeling really out of place? doesn't help that i generally don't care for Chosen One stuff, and ghost being a figure in a moth tribe prophecy just doesn't make any sense to me
also i know doylistically that hollow knight doesn't have any character tell you that much because it would interfere with the vaguer story-telling style they're going for, but when it comes to characters who know a fair amount but tell you little of it, the watsonian impression i often end up with is that they're keeping something from you, for whatever reason. in the seer's case, did she worry you otherwise wouldn't want anything to do with the dream nail...? that would fit with why she doesn't see fit to tell you anything until you gather more essence than you actually have to - clearly you're determined to do this all on your own, so that knowledge can't do any harm now
i also say this because it's a dream nail, and nails are referred to as a traditional weapon of hallownest, as well as something the moth tribe rarely used. so i wonder if the seer made it, somehow...or she found something and carved it into the correct shape. she can upgrade the thing, after all; not like you get the dreamgate or awoken dream nail til you go see her, even if you have enough essence
she can't get the essence herself; she's too old, and while she points out the whispering roots, she knows it isn't enough. she knows what you have to do to get the amount you need: find a room in greenpath and kill birds for 60 hours
okay but yeah, while i think she's being kind of dishonest about the wielder thing, i don't think she's malicious; she mostly just wants to see it awoken. to finally be something capable of doing...whatever it might do. that was all she wanted
honestly the impression i get of the seer is a fairly beat-down person. like she's friendly and funny but she really doesn't hope for anything at all. she doesn't even try to make anything happen, she just makes sure the means to reach the radiance existed in the world and left you to do with it what you would
this goes back to the "the seer not saying much" thing. like of course she doesn't tell you to go use this nail on the hollow knight because that would spoil the game! but also it gives me the impression that she just. isn't even trying to influence events at all, and the way she lays down and dies at 2400 essence certainly adds to that impression
unpopular opinion
she's not popular in the first place, so im not sure if there are really any popular opinions about her!
hmmmm. so one thing i see a lot when people describe her is that she defected from the radiance, or that her loyalties were once with the radiance and are now with hallownest. i actually don't think that's consistent with her dialogue; as i said in the dialogue question above, she makes references to the radiance A LOT and is the only character to say her name, which i know a lot of hk characters never have their names spoken at all but it feels relevant for a character whose whole thing is that memory of her was forcefully suppressed
the seer also makes digs at both the pale king and the dreamers for their role in that; the most positive thing she can say about them is that she's too numb to care anymore. all of that in mind, i don't think it's quite accurate to say that her loyalties lie with anyone but the radiance
...which then makes you wonder, because she gives you exactly what you need to kill her. and i always saw that as like...
well, the radiance is a death god, at least in my perception of her. her sacred place is a graveyard, and the one area so special to the moths that they sealed it off (and which is, incidentally, the only part of the resting grounds which doesn't have any hallownest seals) is a glade full of ghosts, etc etc. it's pretty clear that caring for the dead is incredibly important to her, and as a result, i've always her actions as those of a wronged ghost unable to move on
that's also been my personal interpretation of the infection; it results in fixation and obsession on something that mattered to you in life, kind of like how people tend to portray ghosts...? a lingering will...because there's a massive dream corpse in the minds of the populace so of course the whole thing is gonna start to rot
so the seer would then be her final devotee preparing a funeral she wasn't permitted to have
song i associate with them
n/a
favorite picture of them
n/a, so take this WIP i probably won't finish bc i can't find the color palette i was using for it

For the physical intimacy prompts: holding hands during a stressful situation. And for a pairing lets do pike x una or la'an x una. Dealer's choice on brotp or otp.
Thank you! I hadn't written Una yet, so this is fun. My first 100 words of Una pov!
====
When Discovery vanished, they sat through endless briefings. Una sat alone then, but it didn't feel like this does. Chris and Spock were just down the hall, and that wasn't about her. That was a simple matter of concealing that an entire starship had disappeared into the future.
These interviews have an edge to them that those lacked These are harsher, more personal. This court attacks her rank, her accomplishments and loyalty, over and over. It's not her turn to speak - won't be for days - but Chris' hand finds hers, warm and rough. She startles, then returns the pressure, grateful.

Duck!! 🦆
Tumblr media
With the caveat that I don't really think about trains having romantic relationships in the same sense that people do since, you know, they're trains...
NOTP: Diesel.
Duck values, above all else, getting his work done without any fuss and if the Great Western Way is indeed the standard on the Great Western Railway, then most engines he's interacted in his life prior to arriving on the North Western Railway feel that way as well. So Diesel was probably the first time he'd ever had someone cause that much discord in the yard and the first time his character was ever called into question. Even if Duck can tough it out to work with Diesel now, he probably never really gets over it.
BROTP: Percy.
They get along swimmingly at first meet, they have similar senses of work ethic, and Duck from Day One has gone out of his way to encourage Percy to advocate for himself. One could take a more uncharitable interpretation of this because the only other time Duck is insubordinate, he also let Percy take the role of spokesperson for their strike. Then again, this is also after Percy was unwillingly nominated for the deputation (an idea that Duck was also reluctant about) so maybe Percy's just getting used to being the union rep for collective actions.
Anyway, the point is, while Duck is the mastermind behind the revolt against the big engines' behavior and speaks to Sir Topham Hatt on their behalf, Percy is the one actually on the turnplate keeping the big engines out of the shed. It has to be Percy front and center, because Percy is the one who has to assert himself here or else they'll just keep bossing Percy around even if they stop doing so with Duck.
My OTP for them: Donald.
They have a duck daughter together! And I mean, that the pairing name is Donald/Duck? It gives me a sensible chuckle. And the fact that Donald, when arguing with his brother, leaps at the chance to work with Duck again? They've got a thing goin' on. The twins are also known for their similar lack of complaint when working, which is something that would resonate with Duck.
I haven't read the books yet (I ordered them, they're coming) but apparently Donald and Douglas bring up their old railway all the fuckin' time, so Duck probably also appreciates their loyalty to their heritage (even if the Caledonian Railway is obviously nowhere near as good as the GWR).
My second choice pairing for them: City of Truro.
The admiration and kinship is already there, City of Truro is written as being very friendly and amicable despite his fame, and they're both Great Westerns so I mean. Easy pick.
My fluffy pairing for them: Sir Topham Hatt.
Again, we're not talking romantic relationships for trains, but anytime Duck fucks up, Hatt is usually pretty lenient with him, if not reassuring. And why not? Duck's a good boy! When he crashes - which is rare - it's usually not his fault. And even if it is ("The Thomas Way"), he's got enough social capital from his general sense of responsibility, work ethic, and comparative lack of incident that Hatt's willing to just let him off with his disapproval. Which is awful as far as Duck's concerned, but it's not the kind of dressing down most of the other engines would get. The only time Duck ever showed outright insubordination, "Diesel Does It Again", Hatt didn't reprimand him, he simply explained that Diesel is the only engine that was available to help them and that he needs Duck and Percy to help him by going back to work.
My angsty pairing for them: James
The CGI series seems to gently brush the cheek of this concept, as if it would like to explore it but just feels they can't waste that much time on a side character, which is a shame because I think you could really do a lot with it and also because Duck's voice on this show is adorable.
James and Duck are actually quite similar. They are built for nearly identical duties, which Duck does happily in any occasion, whereas James gets harrumphed if he's asked to pull anything but coaches as he feels anything else is beneath him. They are both very proud of their liveries, but for completely opposite reasons: James is an individualist, to his detriment, and asks for red paint (which he is quite proud of, also to his detriment) to differentiate himself from the rest of the fleet which was moving toward a consistent blue livery at the time. Duck is painted in his GWR livery and he is quite proud of the work history it represents. To him, his livery is a mark of his belonging to the GWR and being an exemplary model of what that railway represented and he brings that to the NWR now. James, by contrast, is always seeking to either separate himself from the rest of the fleet or else prove himself the best of it.
He wants to be a Gordon, but he is not and will never be. So seeing someone like Duck, who knows exactly who and what he is (exactly the same thing James is) and is content with it, is disquieting. James attempts to look down on Duck for being satisfied and proud of the work he does, regardless of its perceived prestige, but maybe some part of him actually envies Duck for his security and assurance in himself.
If this show were about character growth at all, Duck would be an excellent avenue for that for James.
My favorite poly ship for them:
I don't really have a ship for Duck this way but... In "Duck in the Water", Duck (who is painted green) needs to be pulled out of a flooded track he's run into. James and Rocky come to do this, but James being impatient results in a signal being knocked over on the way there. So as they are trying to pull Duck out, Oliver (also painted green) comes up behind them and with no signal to tell him to slow down, he bumps into the back of James, who slams into Rocky, who drops Duck back in the water. Then, as Oliver is backing up so his driver can put up a warning flag, Percy (also green) comes along too and, with no signal to warn him, bumps into Oliver, who bumps into James, who bumps into Rocky, who drops Duck again and the green grass grows all around all around. And as I am watching all of this unfold, I am thinking to myself, "All we need now is Henry and this'll be a real green clusterfuck."
My weirdest pairing for them:
Daisy would be a delightful disaster, although Duck might have some positive influence on her that could be interesting. Duncan would also be a shitshow worth watching. Could be fun to watch how he'd handle an interaction with Bill and Ben as it would be a test of wills, unstoppable force versus immovable object.

hi will!!!! can I get uh. ruby & my main man bones mccoy for the character thingy???
absolutely absolutely and you know let's just. pretend i answered this in a timely manner. definitely.
i do think that for the wait you've earned both! (and i want to talk about both so :3)
Ruby
Sexuality Headcanon: It's funny, I don't usually have a set sexuality for any character right up until the moment I'm asked, at which point I receive visions from beyond my understanding that inform me of the truth. and the visions said she's a bisexual lesbian.
OTP: local idiot forced to choose between samruby and annaruby, 69 injured, 420 dead
BroTP: I actually love dean & ruby's weird combative vibes. i love when she saves his life in Malleus Maleficarum, and he immediately gets all huffy about it ("It's called witchcraft, short bus." "You're the short bus … short bus." AFTER SHE'S ALREADY LEFT SKLAJSLDKJALSD) i love the few moments we get where they aren't at each other's throats, but also i do love when they're both so unnecessarily mean to each other like girls. girls, you're on the same side. it's so funny. and the fact that they have the same speech patterns. if you locked them in a room together for a week and they didn't kill each other, they'd come out speaking a pop culture language they invented together that no one but them and sam can understand.
NoTP: i don't think i have one for her? uh. bobby/ruby. sure.
First headcanon that pops into my head: from what i remember, what we know about Ruby is a) she was human once, b) during that time, she was a witch, and c) this was probably a pretty long time ago? let's say it was a long time ago for my purposes. anyway. salem witch trials ruby real. (also, additionally, ruby loved sam. she did. she really did. this was just Not A Good Thing.)
Favorite line from this character: yes yes she is the best of those sons of bitches but that entire speech is bitching. "You didn't need the feather to fly, you had it in you the whole time, Dumbo!" and obviously the lucifer parallel lines that drive me insane, "Because it had to be you, Sammy. It always had to be you. You saved us. You set him free. And he's gonna be grateful. He's gonna repay you in ways that you can't even imagine." LIKE. OKAY. YEAH. SURE. IM FINE AND NORMAL ABOUT THIS.
One way in which I relate to this character: she is sooo. god i don't know the word for it, somewhere between determination and loyalty, and i don't know so much about 'relates to this' as i want to have some of that. yes, okay, the thing she was determined to do was start the apocalypse but. but. she did it, didn't she? and that's damn impressive. and i just need some of that energy to finish my chemistry homework.
Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: SamRuby sex scenes, but idk if that's so much second-hand embarassment as it is me averting my eyes like a scandalized victorian gentleman going 'oh dear lord, this is none of my business, i should not spy on them.' It's just. O-O they really went all in for those scenes huh. huh.
Cinnamon Roll or Problematic Fave: Problematic Fave and i love her for it.
McCoy:
Sexuality Headcanon: gay gay homosexual gay
OTP: Bones/a vacation (but if pushed, i will admit to being a pretty big fan of McSpirk. OT3s my beloved.)
BroTP: okay okay hear me out: bones and uhura. she's the language lady, and he's the guy who has about 700 different sayings all tucked away inside his head, and no way do they not get drunk together. asdfhgjljk her teaching him vulcan sayings that are almost equivalent to something he could come up with, just so that they can both see spock's muted confusion (which is practically him shouting "bones what the fuck are you saying to me.") and oh obviously they are the people closest to the eternal disaster that is the kirk & spock dynamic (romantic or otherwise) and if they don't bitch to each other about those idiots, they might explode.
NoTP: Bones/that salt monster from The Man Trap. but in all seriousness, I don't think I have one.
First headcanon that pops into my head: Spending a few years in space means that whenever they get their feet on solid land, he's happy for transport that's less likely to send them into the freezing void if handled wrong. He's happy about this, for all of the ten seconds he's fool enough to let Kirk drive. He is never getting in a car with that man again.
Favorite line from this character: Oh, the first one I can think of is from the hand-off from TOS to TNG (the thing they do every time a new show starts where a character from the last one makes an appearance, however small, to sort of... I don't know. Wish them luck.) Anyway, in Encounter at Farpoint, when he's talking to Data, he ends the scene by saying about the Enterprise-D, "This is a new ship, but she's got the right name. Now you remember that, you hear. You treat her like a lady, and she'll always bring you home." which. feelings. T-T
One way in which I related to this character: we are both southern and grumpy lmao
Thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: I honestly can't think of any? I think his general 'I do not give a fuck, this is my medbay and you're all going to do what I say' negates my ability to feel second-hand embarrassment from him.
Cinnamon Roll or Problematic Fave: Hm. I'm giving him cinnamon roll status, but he would Not like it.

I wrote a follow-up to “what were the words I meant to say before you left” as a very thrown together birthday present for Tony Stark, because he deserves a reunion with his boy.
“I’ve had this dream before.”
Peter jolts awake, squinting at the dully lit room around him, lifting a hand to rub his aching neck before he realizes who spoke.
The hospital room is silent for a heartbeat as Peter stares at Tony, who stares right back.
“Mr. Stark,” Peter breathes.
Tony gives a tremulous little smile.
“I’m not usually in a hospital bed, though,” Tony says, his voice weak.
“What?”
“In my dream. The one where you’re alive.”
Peter sucks in a breath and leans forward in his chair, dropping his feet to the floor.
“I—”
“The MIT sweatshirt is a nice touch,” Tony interrupts. “Look at you.” There’s something aching and proud in Tony’s voice that makes Peter freeze and look at Tony, past the burns and gray hair. Tony’s eyes are soft as he watches Peter, his bottom lip trembling ever so slightly.
“Mr. Stark,” Peter whispers. Tony just smiles at him, awestruck and heartbroken.
“It’s so real. Every time.” Tony reaches his good hand out, beckoning. Peter obeys, moving to sit on the edge of the hospital bed. Tony’s hand immediately touches his face, tracing his chin with shaking fingers.
“I can always touch you,” he murmurs. “Smell your shampoo.” He combs his fingers through Peter’s hair, tucks a strand behind his ear.
There’s a lull as Tony cups Peter’s cheek and strokes underneath his eye. He seems to be savoring the warmth of Peter’s skin. Peter pushes against his hand a little, leaning into him, and that smile comes back, the one that looks like Peter’s ripping Tony’s heart out of his chest with his bare hands and Tony couldn’t love him more.
“And then I wake up.” Tony’s voice breaks.
“Tony, this isn’t a dream,” Peter says frantically. “You saved me. I’m here.”
Tony shifts his hand to the back of Peter’s head and pulls him toward his chest.
“Yeah,” he sighs. “You’ve said that before, too. But I always wake up and you’re always gone. I can still feel it, though, when I wake up.”
“Feel what?” Peter asks, pressing his forehead against Tony’s collarbone.
“What it feels like to hold you. For just a few minutes it’s like I can still feel your warmth.”
“I’m sorry.” Tears burn in Peter’s eyes for what he’s done to Tony by dying.
“It’s worth it,” Tony says, shaking his head. “To see you again.”
Tony fades for a long moment, his breathing slowing down.
“Looks like I’m waking up, Pete.” Peter knows that he’s actually falling asleep, but he doesn’t interrupt because Tony takes another breath and opens his mouth.
“I love you, kiddo,” Tony murmurs as his eyes fall closed.
Peter hiccups an almost hysterical laugh.
“Love you,” he babbles. Tony’s fingers tangle in his hair before going loose and warm. “I love you.”
When Tony wakes up, he can feel Peter’s warmth. The weight of him against his chest.
Heart shattering as it does every time he dreams of Peter and wakes to nothing but the memory of him, Tony takes a deep breath. He holds onto it for another long minute, not quite ready to face reality. He can almost feel him breathing.
But Tony knows he can’t live a lie. He’d tried, for a while, and it nearly destroyed him. He opens his eyes.
Peter Parker is asleep next to him, wearing his MIT sweatshirt and drooling onto his shoulder.
After the shock settles, after Tony realizes he isn’t hallucinating, he shakes Peter awake.
“Mr. Stark,” Peter gasps as his eyes snap open.
“Do not ever,” Tony says firmly, cupping Peter’s jaw in his hand, “make me live in a world without you again.”

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*
jovier probably? and sean/lenny too, i guess, but i don't see that ship as often. probably just a case of me preferring either canon or kinda, implied, maybe if you read the subtext ships. i've got nothing against either ship, i usually enjoy any fan art that comes across my dash, but i just don't personally ship either.
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
i'm not gonna say the blatant racism and sexism as that is unfortunately a staple of most fandoms surrounding media that is enjoyed by a lot of white people where there are characters of colour. so like, it's not really anything particularly unique to rdr2, if only because it's more overt in the fandom, but i don't really expect much else from a fandom surrounding a r* game.
i am instead going to say the obsession with painting everything in black and white.
i've touched on this in a previous ask, but it just baffles me that the fandom surrounding a game with such a grey world and such nuanced characters, a game that goes to such great lengths to portray the struggles of each character, the good and the ugly in each of them, a game whose entire thesis seems to be that being good is not a matter of simply being a good person naturally, but rather trying to do good (let your actions speak for you essentially), is so determined to paint everything in black and white. divide the characters into bad and good, right and wrong, rather than enjoy the nuanced story telling and the twisted, confusing, well rounded characters in the game.
by trying to paint everything in black and white, the characters are destroyed, any interesting part of them stripped completely from them. and i just really really really dislike that.
22. Popular character you hate?
there aren't really any popular characters in the fandom that i hate. there are definitely characters that are very popular who i don't care about, like, i think they're incredibly boring, barely two-dimensional characters, but i don't hate them.
i do, however, really hate a lot of popular fandom portrayals of characters. and javier especially stands out to me.
like, as i mentioned in the previous answer, in the black and white world that is the fandom version of rdr2, javier is labeled "one of the good ones". and so, any parts of his personality, his relationships, or his actions, that aren't "good" are just... ignored. or people straight up act as if his character is actually the complete opposite of that.
like, people seem to forget that javier is very much a villain in every sense of the word in rdr. rdr2 made him redeemable and sympathetic, and since people in this fandom really can't seem to understand this thing called CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT or, alternatively, PEOPLE CHANGING FOR THE WORSE, they seem to think that javier's character was butchered because he sides with dutch at the end. like, some of the "meta" about him i've read on here can basically be boiled down to dutch is a bad guy and therefore javier, who is a good guy, would never ever side with him, because good guys don't side with bad guys. i am very smart.
people say that javier hates bill, and dutch, and micah, but, like, i'm sorry, i wish that was the case but it isn't.
dutch is the most obvious one. javier's fatal flaw in rdr2, much like arthur, is loyalty. he is loyal to a tee. and he is loyal to dutch. he trusts dutch with his life. he is willing to die for dutch. to try and dispute that or straight up ignore it, is to remove a huge chunk of his character and what specifically made him really sympathetic in the eyes of someone who didn't think r* would be able to make them like him after having played rdr and despising him in that (hint: it's me, i'm someone).
and guess what, while javier does show visible disdain for both micah and bill earlier in the game, there are multiple camp interactions between them that show he does like both of them somewhat, even if it's only small parts of their characters he likes or can agree with or simply just tolerates. maybe, instead of just ignoring that part of his character, it would be nice to consider why he may feel that way about them, or even why he may feel forced to feel that way about them.
in rdr2, we are told rather explicitly that javier fought in a revolution against the mexican government, and in rdr he's fighting against a revolution on the side of the mexican government. he is shown to be able to put aside his ideals in order to protect himself.
but i guess it's easier to just say that he's mexican and therefore does not want to be anywhere near dutch, bill, and micah, instead of, i don't know, maybe consider that people of colour, especially in the 19th and 20th century but still to this day, have to make friends with racists in order to survive, have to keep any comments, any distaste kept behind our teeth if we don't want to get shunned or called hysterical or called racist towards white people or even killed.
people call him feminist and shit, but like... the way he talks about abigail in rdr and him working for a man who literally has women dragged away to be raped in cut-scenes doesn't really roll with that, does it? but yeah, sure, whatever. feminist king. whoo.
also, a particular part of the fandom seems to have labeled javier as very flirty and a ladies man (racist stereotype, good job), even though javier is explicitly stated to have had his heart broken and flirts with literally no one except that one sex worker in that one cut scene. charles is i that scene too – when is the fandom going to talk about how much of a flirt he is? oh wait, people only care about charles when they're shipping him with arthur.

Character ask- Erend?
Tumblr media
do I like them: I am certainly a fan of the himbo!
5 good qualities: Stark loyalty, levity, heart of GOLD, healthy and righteous aggression towards doors, shows up in Real Ways when it matters
3 bad qualities: near-pathological self-deprecation, stubbornness/immediate doubt, when his drinking is leaned into for LOLs instead of treated as a potentially-compelling character issue (more a complaint about the writing than about him)
favourite episode/etc: UNPOPULAR OPINION TIME!!! I adore the pushback he gives Aloy upon first reaching Meridian, if you select the heart option when speaking about Ersa. "Why is it, every time something terrible happens, everyone else tells you the worst thing that happened to them, as though that makes it easier?" Combined with Aloy's reaction, it's a fantastic character moment for both of them and I think about it way more often than I should.
otp: Do I...do I have one??? I'm not sure! I...might have a half-baked OC partner for him who exists only in the deepest depths of my future-Horizon brain stew? But that's really it. Erend/Avad is also intriguing to LARGE degrees
brotp: In order of bro-ship-ness: Aloy, Varl, Kotallo, Talanah.
best quote: Besides the one noted above, the "are we going to die?" exchange at Dervahl's workshop in Meridian.
head canon: because that one line given to Aloy at the Base is going to haunt me like my many disappointed ancestors: Erend and Talanah spend a lot of time together between the events of HZD and HFW, recognizing a lot of unhealthy habits emerging in the other in Aloy's absence. One night they get rip-roaring wasted and hash out all of these grievances and lamentations with each other, to the point of drunk-hugging it out in the alleyway outside of the pub afterwards. Neither of them broaches this conversation in the light of day thereafter, but they're both grateful for it.

For the character ask: Stiorra
favorite thing about them
her drive. her ambition to lead her own life and hold her independence. she knows what she wants out of her life and not many people do. i also love how she isn’t afraid to speak her mind. she feels strongly and voices those feelings - good and bad - no matter who she is talking to (i.e. when she stood up to edward in 5x07). stiorra encompasses a lot characteristics i wish i had. her strong will, fierce protectiveness of her loved ones, her ability to be open and honest, show great examples of how a woman can be more than just “beautiful”. that she has more to offer in terms of mind, and that a strong woman isn’t just how well she can fight.
least favorite thing about them
while it’s understandable she was grieving after sigtryggr’s death, i thought it was a bit unfair how she snapped at uhtred and blamed him. there is nothing wrong with leading with emotions, but a few scenes in season 5 showed that stiorra has a tendency to cause hurt with her words. again, i can’t fault her to much as she did just lose sigtryggr. but that’s the only thing i can think of that i didn’t exactly agree with - placing all the blame on uhtred and his destiny. while yes, you can argue they played a part in sigtryggr’s death and stiorra losing the man she loved, they were other factors at fault too.
favorite line
“i will not crumble just to be protected”.
i think it sums up stiorra quite well. she has always stood her ground, held onto her beliefs even if others did not agree. the easy option would have been for her to accept edward’s offer and stay in efoweric. but the fact stiorra did not take it because in her heart she knew it wasn’t right for her, i admired that.
brOTP
stiorra x finan. the last few episodes of season 4 showed glimpses of them and i honestly think they would have a great, banter-filled friendship.
OTP
sigtryggr x stiorra, i mean it would be pretty concerning if i didn’t pick them as my blog is filled with them. even though we had 8 episodes to see their relationship flourish, they still managed to convey their bond. it showed they had respect, loyalty, healthy communication, love and adoration for each other. what i loved the most, is how much sigtryggr values stiorra. not just in a romantic, partner sense. but in a queen, warrior sense. you could see how he always turned to get her opinion or approval, showcasing how he valued her mind and thoughts.
you could also see in those 8 episodes just how much love they had for each other. at times it was subtle, and other times it was loud and caught your attention. they balanced each other.
nOTP
none that i can think of.
random headcanon
when stiorra first arrived in efoweric, to be the best queen to the people she would talk with the staff and residents. collecting information and ideas on how to improve the land and quality of living. sigtryggr would watch from afar, smiling at her ambition to see their land prosper. together they would work to ensure the people were happy and content. then a few months later once stiorra had settled and sigtryggr could see she was happy, they would wed.
unpopular opinion
stiorra would have been a great mum. and maybe in the future she would of changed her mind and had kids with sigtryggr.
also, given that it was in the viking age and protection was either non-existent or not well used, it also isn’t unreasonable to think that stiorra could have become pregnant without them actually trying. the only way would be if sigtryggr and stiorra were never intimate in that way, but given they were young and madly in love, i do think from time to time they would have been (it was the viking age after all). so technically, there is a 50-50 chance that at some point stiorra could have gotten pregnant.
song i associate with them
power by little mix

Well, since you asked so nicely for an ask.... How about Gonta?
thank u for the ask :D hope u enjoy the headcanons!!
Sexuality Headcanon: genuinely think if u tried to explain the nuances of sexuality to gonta his eyes would glaze over...he’d be polite but he does not care he wants to go touch a beetle now. he does prefer fem-presenting people tho.
Gender Headcanon: he is cis unfortunately </3 desperately performing gender roles to win approval from his shitty family is such a large part of gonta’s character, i feel like it does a disservice to him to say they’re actually like. super accepting of gonta being a trans guy??? i can see someone making interesting content based on him maybe being nb or even transfem and struggling with that, but i do not understand people who think he isn’t amab
A ship I have with said character: gonta/kiyo makes me so sappy...they have such interesting (probably unintentional) character parallels, what with both of them shaping everything about how they act, dress, speak, etc. in order to please awful family who ask for their devotion but never truly return it. i also enjoy the parallels between their talents, which both of them love so so so much but are rejected and seen as ‘creepy’ for. they deserve to heal together okay!!! also they both deserve someone who will listen to their three-hour infodumps and not get bored
A BROTP I have with said character: i have cried over platonic ougoku multiple times 😶. they’re just,,,so important to me man. i love that even when the group infantalizes gonta and insists he must be being manipulated, gonta remains confident in his judgement of kokichi and CHOOSES to stand by him, over and over again. loyalty is gonta’s greatest virtue and his greatest vice, and i think that really shines through in his relationship with kokichi yknow? also yknow that one trope in every ougoku fic, platonic or otherwise, where gonta compares kokichi to one of the (many) insects that fakes being a more dangerous, poisonous type of insect to protect itself? good shit. gets me every time.
A NOTP I have with said character: hphsjdnfdbfhg i dunno gonta’s too smoochable for me to hate any of his popular ships. do ppl ship him with tsumugi?? that i guess
A random headcanon: he’s FAT. yes he’s absolutely shredded but his muscles don’t look shrinkwrapped. u think he survived in the FOREST for TEN YEARS with the dehydrated movie star body type??? absolutely not. bear gonta rights.
General Opinion over said character: LOVE LOVE LOVE WOULD KILL AND/OR DIE FOR. hate how bad the localization fucked him up tho 😭😭😭 genuinely would take 10x the monokub screentime if it meant gonta got to talk like the scientist he is. other than that there’s nothing wrong with his writing it’s as perfect as he is <3
