Seeing the Gaz exclusion done by Activision itself (like not being on merch or getting fun new skins in game) reminds me of Arthur from Call of Duty: Vanguard. He was the main character: the head of the team and the narrator of the story. They gave him a couple of skins and called it a day. No new content for him after season 2 (out of 6), while the other campaign characters had consistent additions and bundles throughout the seasons.

idk if I'm reading too much into this, just thinking about how both those characters are black men.

I don't remember why but I dreamed about looking up the common religions in different regions of Thailand last night

#in addition to like. more regular dreams where someone kidnapped part of our camping/hiking group and I needed to use my knowledge of #dog/wolf behavior to appease a wolf that we needed to pass by to get between two forest clearings and also since my character was a #clean-freak / germaphobe he had the power to have bugs not bother him in the woods and then that all happened twice because ofc we needed to #keep to the story script when it restarted and I had to keep everything on the rails but this time two other wolves also came up and they #all decided I was chill and we left each other alone even while I was de-escalating the kidnapping situation but then the kidnappers started #running away and I was like 'you know what would make them think again? three wolves chasing them' so I got the wolves' attention and #started running and they thought it was some kind of chase game and eventually after a couple times of them catching up with me and thinking #that was it they realized someone ahead of us was also running so THEY were the target and we finally started chasing down the kidnappers #and by this point I was considered part of the pack and also we were in a school gymnasium but right after some sort of fair or assembly so #we had to dodge chairs and tables and stacks of equipment and occasionally children but they mostly kept out of the way #oh and I think after the reset but before the kidnapping there was also a part where one of the other characters (I feel like one of my #siblings was playing this one) insisted that our top priority should be finding clothes and I was like 'wait are you NAKED?' and they were #like 'yeah we all are???' and I was like 'WHAT no I'm fully dressed. my character is wearing a suit and tie! and a hat even!' yeah yeah and #then the kidnappers/bullies came up and one of them was a blond lady with a bolo tie.#btw the reason I'm saying stuff like 'my character'/'was playing a character' is because in this dream it was explicitly characters we were #playing in some sort of game where the focus wasn't roleplay but it had a roleplay-y aspect where the different characters had different #strengths and abilities; such as Betrayal at House on the Hill or Western Legends or Dead of Winter #anyway. I know I should be focusing more on reqs, but I had to take this off my mind skskksskks (btw I'm rn in the underground belobog part of story) (I kinda called it SAHSR as in self aware hsr)

Tw: no proofread, mentioned drowning(but it didn't happen), war, hate, religious themes, self awareness, kinda ooc, grammar mistakes because I am typing this at 12AM instead of sleeping, isolation

So, you know how in the beginning we play as Kafka? Yeah, I'm pretty sure she felt your presence. At first she was kinda weirded out, and was on guard. Who knows what you would do to her, while controlling her?

Oh look, you're helping her.. Hmm, maybe you aren't that bad after all. Still on guard, but thankful. With you she seems to fight more faster and is more efficient.

Same goes with Silver Wolf. They don't seem to mind your presence that much.

You even helped them to pick a trailblazer! But after picking them, you left Kafka and Silver Wolf. They didn't really mind it. They have been doing good without you, so it should be fine!

Meanwhile, the trailblazer is confused. First, they don't remember anything except their own name(or the name you gave them), then Kafka leaves and someone is watching over them. Oh how confusing and strange. But they caught early on that you're helping them. You're not an enemy.

During their "adventures" trailblazer starts thinking of you as a family. Kinda annoying since you control their body most the time (unless it's a cutscene) but you're cool nonetheless. They see you as a safespace.

Meanwhile March 7th and Dan Heng don't understand what is happening. Who is controlling them? Why after they met trailblazer? Why are you controlling them?

I think March would, just like the trailblazer, like you and find you annoying at the same time. Dan Heng would stay on guard (but also see you as safe space/nice person to hang with). Not as much on guard as when you first...met but still. It'll take him time to get off guard. The more time you spend with them, the more familiar they are with you, the more they like you.

Why annoyed, you may ask? Well, imagine you want to.. for example fight, but someone controls your movement and does it instead of you. Or goes the other way (aka exploring) instead of the path you've originally chosen.

They certainly would like when you make them stronger. No matter who is on your team, they'll like it (I mean, who wouldn't?)

But.. sometimes, even if they like you, they get tired of always being on the team. Thank you, yes, but they need to rest too. They mostly rest when you're offline, since..time kinda stops there. But when you're online? damnnn they walk and fight so much.. (I fr walk everywhere to find enemies to fight, so uhh, if you're like me, they would be tired and maybe annoyed at it)

I think some characters would even hate you. It doesn't apply to the main trio btw, they'll always like you. The reason some may hate you is that they have so much stuff to do, yet you choose them to walk around and fight all day. They're even supposed to be here! (For example, using Herta when fighting someone in Belobog)

If they could, they would scold you. But sadly game doesn't allow that.

It only appears in normal, self aware circumstances. Aka a normal self aware. Some like you, some hate you. You just kinda exist. (That one strange friend/sibling, y'know?)

But what if they would see you as a God? Something divine? Like in SAGAU?

Well, you're doomed, what can I say?

Everyone would want to be in your team. Oh, poor Gacha system.

They would hate it tbh. While in just self aware some would avoid you on purpose (aka busy characters), here? Where everyone sees you as a divine being? Oh dear..

Imagine several people trying to come through a single door, all at the same time? Yeahhh that's what happens. The standard and limited banner would literally fist fight while trying to get "home" to you. So don't be surprised if nobody comes home, at all.

But some may cooperate, and you may get more 5☆ or 4☆! Basically characters you wanted.

Those on your team would be proud! Mostly if the main trio are still there. Some would be envious of trailblazer. You're always with them, even if they're not on your team.(how could you?!)

Kafka and Silverwofl would be devastated. I'm pretty sure Silverwolf could possibly destroy the gacha system and come home. Only her (and maybe Kafka)

People in Belobog would hate the lore and everything game makes them do what they do. They're so happy they met you! You're here to save them! They don't want to fight you, so please don't be mad at them.

Honestly, if you were to get isekai'ed into hsr, I would recommend to the normal au.

The ones who hate you would just tell you off and never interact again, while your family/friends would hang out with you. Plus you could help a lot in Astral Express!

Maybe get Himeko and Mr.Yang some tea? Or help Pom Pom with whatever he needs?

If you get into the Worshipping Lunatics au..? I feel sorry for you.. You would never rest-

Whether you choose to stay at Astrak Express, or Herta's *I forgot the name* or whatever, they are all ready to wage war against each other. And if you decided to stay somewhere, that means you clearly favor them and their place more! Those who were chosen are happy/smug. While other try to improve their place/copy the place you've chosen to make you reconsider and stay with them.

The amount of gifts.. try to not drown okay?

They might even all agree to keep you in one place. Lock you in there and hope you won't be mad at them.

-When he sees that they’re touching you, he is NOT having it 😭

-Stays close to you when you’re with them. Not so close to the point that he’s glued to you but behind you standing there like you’re a celebrity and he’s your bodyguard

-Quietly mumbles about the person and he’s mocking everything they say in the background (Kinda like the scene in Trolls 2 where Hickory and Poppy were talkin and Branch just mocks Hickory "'Trolls is Trolls' Wow., deep.")

- He's gonna make it obvious that the two of you are dating by being touchy, flirty, romantic, yeahh.. Get ready for a lot of kisses. Oh, and he's gonna be holding onto your waist like it's the pole he holds on to when there's a flood.

You were going out with a few friends and had JD come along. As always, he was clinging onto you while the both of you were looking for your friends. "There's a new bakery and it would be so fun if we can check out the other new stuff blah blah" is what they said. Of course, not wanting to be rude or left out, you agreed to join in on the meet up. You sat down with JD beside you, and the person you're closest to in the group on the other side. They instantly greet you with a tight and touchy hug. Their right on your waist and the other ruffling your hair as they kiss your cheek, you know, platonically! But of course, John... Ehh.. he doesn't quite see it that way. He notices that this person is sort of like flirty and very touchy. After spending a few minutes in the bakery, you all agreed to go to the amusement park. On the way there, you and this friend were chatting about a recently released series the both of you spend time on watching together. "They looked so cute! I think they'd be a great couple to be honest." You commented about the recent episode featuring a new character. "You know who'd be a great couple? Us! Jk." You thought nothing of it because you know, they regularly make jokes like these. JD on the other hand.. he was sort of maybe just little bit upset.. Yeah no he was pissed as fuck. If you turned around to see him stomping on the ground like it was that person's face and I swear you'd probably see steam coming out of his ears. "'YoU knOW whO'D be A gREaT coUpLe? ? uS!!' Bullshit.." He whispered, mocking the friend while silently cursing them out under his breath. When you get to the amusement park however, JD rushes up to you before they could even drag you away and he grabs and holds on to your waist, pulling you away and going on most of the rides together alone. You'd probably notice that he's jealous after a bit more time of that friend because he jokingly (seriously) insults them, and the friend would play along (Not knowing that You and JD were together). Eventually they'd find out you were both dating after noticing how romantic the both of you were and they wouldn't be as flirty.

A/N: I got like a quick high fever yesterday..... I'm feeling a bit better now, although I still have like 3 assignments to do... And my head hurts so much I'd sob in bed for at least 3 hours before I actually fall asleep..... I wrote this at 12-2 am because holy shit I finally got motivation to write.... Writing more reqs! HI i would LOVE to talk about george thank you so much. also this makes me realize i've never actually sat down and just made a post unabashedly infodumping at length abt an oc before and it seems silly that i haven't. i ask only for all dear readers to please temper their expectations for this post with the knowledge that i just smoked half a joint before sitting down to answer it. a small one. but still. anyway

FIRST OF ALL FOR THE UNACQUAINTED THIS IS COOKING WITH GORGEOUS, aka cookie or george for short. he uses he/him and she/her pronouns interchangeably!

hi sorry that's not cookie that's a horse in a bridal veil that i. found in my stuff while trying to scroll and find my cookie art. i just got distracted and had to show you. okay no for real here's cookie

he's the character i'm playing in a playtest campaign of the absolutely mesmerizing sapphicworld, an in-development ttrpg!!! and if i'm going to be talking about cookie i feel like i HAVE to say i think a huge amount of her charm and dazzle and charisma comes directly from the charm and dazzle and charisma of the setting i created her for. i know i am laying it on really thick right now but that is on purpose. i want, desperately and unashamedly, for this game to get really popular bc 1. it's genuinely that good. and it's not even DONE yet and 2. i want everyone to get into it so that everyone will make sapphicworld characters and then i'll get to see everyone's sapphicworld characters.

EDIT i'm scrolling back up here and adding a readmore bc this is already getting so long lol. you asked for "a little more" and apparently i have graciously decided this means "literally every fact about cookie that exists in my brain"

SO a lot of the info/tidbits i haven't shared about cookie are i guess gameplay-specific stuff... his title (which is like a class/playbook) is "The Noble Sweetheart," though in sapphicworld "nobility" no longer has anything to do with wealth or class, and is instead entirely about amassing a court purely via devotion/popularity; her subculture (which is like, Who You Hang Out With; drifters, goths, poets, debauchers, cowpokes, etc) is Babe; and her kind (which is like ancestries but in sapphicworld is really just like, a physical form, which u can change more or less at will) is Lunarthrope, which is basically a werewolf!! or more broadly a furry, since u always look like whatever were-animal you are 24/7. just MORE at night, tho i suppose i don't represent that aspect much in my cookie art... ANYWAY i am restraining myself from just sitting here and like. transcribing her entire character sheet. but basically what all this means is that cookie's role in the world (at least at the beginning of the campaign) is "Professionally — no, VOCATIONALLY Hot Person who everyone loves so so so so so so much." cookie really enjoys this role.

he's named cooking with gorgeous because he's an avid cook, and he wants to share that with you, and he's gorgeous!! though honestly the cooking hasn't ended up as important to his character as it was when i first came up with him, lol — but my initial concept was kind of like, what's the equivalent of a bouncy normie recipe blogger/lifestyle influencer but in the context of the lush horny trans deathless psychedelic universe of sapphicworld. and it's cooking with gorgeous, a doggirl dyke with big blue boobs (six of them!!) who is so devastatingly cute and darling that a bunch of people just kind of pledge their fealty to him for no real reason other than he feeds them. and is cute

also her name is def influenced by the fantastic names of many canon sapphicworld npcs! like, quick example list of some npc names off the top of my head: the booty commie, death cybernetic, princess eureka!, the culinary goof (whom cookie dislikes. btw.), pizza friday (whom cookie loves!!!)

cookie is very very determined, and she's ALMOST always very confident. even when she isn't feeling confident, she's still very good at forcing herself to keep putting one foot in front of the other — maybe just while screaming or crying or uncontrollably barking or at least very ardently complaining. he has a tendency to be spoiled and, like, tactless-via-obliviousness, so sometimes he can be grating to interact with, and he has a petty/vindictive streak; but in general he's an AGGRESSIVELY kind person and usually aims all his shrill, cheerful stubbornness directly toward the goal of refusing to accept anything but the best for everyone.

at the beginning of our campaign cookie has JUST received a brand new castle!!!! (chateau gorgeous.) which he doesn't actually "own" bc, remember, no wealth or class in sapphicworld, but he's the ENTHUSIASTIC new caretaker and is chomping at the bit to renovate it so ppl can live there and he can throw a bunch of magnificent parties and basically continue living exactly as he has been, But Even More Fabulous. obviously this is exactly when the main plot threat of the campaign shows up and spoils everything and compels cookie to go on his First Ever Adventure!!!!!! she HAS to save the world otherwise NOBODY will be able to go to the first big party at chateau gorgeous :((((

at this point to prevent myself from just like, giving you guys a play by play of the entire campaign so far i am going to just start listing every cookie fact i can think of as bullet points

🎀 he owns a magical sword in the shape of a giant microplane. it's called The Microplane. he pronounces this "mee-crow-plah-nay"

🎀 george desperately wants to resurrect The Dog-Lich, an entity that once ruled over all beasts from its palace on the moon but was murdered and torn to pieces in a cosmic war far in the past. her attitude towards this desire is 50% devoted lunar cultist, 50% parasocially obsessive twitter stan

🎀 this isn't really a cookie fact but going back to how his title is The Noble Sweetheart — just for a glimpse at party composition, his fellow party members' titles are The Intimate Scholar, The Tentacle Advocate, and The Tw*nk Controversial (the * is the canon spelling).

^ aforementioned tw*nk. its name is Mwah ("pronounced like the kiss you blow at someone you just fucked over"). mwah is played by @/squiddelyfather on twitter!

🎀 mwah and cookie used to be very, very tight, BEFORE mwah became the tw*nk controversial. now that it's so.... you know.... controversial, well. they're still very close, but it has gotten a little stilted and weird (and watching them slowly un-weird it together as the campaign goes on has been one of my fav roleplay experiences ever honestly)

🎀 cookie's other adventuremates, skarligge and delaryn, are both very indulgent towards him. delaryn acts the most grumpy/dismissive about it but is honestly sometimes the worst about spoiling cookie out of anyone in the party (skarligge's player is twt@/clown_dream and delaryn's is twt@/glaiveguisarme and hey while im at it our fantastic gm is the sapphicworld dev, twt@/ddemoneclipse. hi guys i hope u don't mind me chattering abt ur ocs here lol it's just hard to talk abt the best of cookie w/o bringing up everyone else's characters and roleplay also!!!)

🎀 cookie is very VERY sensitive and will burst into tears at the drop of a hat. the precursor to this is her eyes getting So So So Big And Wet And Round. one of my favorite bits to menace the other party members with is when something is not going cookie's way i will lean into my mic and say "cookie's eyes are getting so so so big. they're getting so big and wet and round and shiny. they're so so round and fucking big her eyes are like big wet black glass marbles" and this is like kryptonite to them. this is like getting hit with deadly radiation

🎀 oh speaking of fashion!!!! one of cookie's perks from being a Babe is that she can always change her look whenever she wants. she will ALWAYS have whatever outfit she needs and can quickchange instantly. wait this reminds me i have a bunch of seasonal holiday outfits sketched out and i don't think i've ever posted them here but it'll only let me put one more image in this post. well here have this one

i currently have...one. potential role for a p5 character. that i think is VERY Funny. but bc the nature of this comic is pretty improv-heavy we will simply Have To See if those seeds come to fruition or not HBFDHJG (and in a similar vein i might Think Of some other gag that requires a p3/p5 character Later that i dont know about rn)

for pairings i'm generally not actively engaged with p5 ships unless you count Me peeling back my monitor screen to enter the story and woo kawakami (i can save her) so we probably arent gonna get that specifically . F

generally speaking there's the gameplan of not getting too involved with the PLOT of p5...partially because i dont think its necessary and partially because i would need to skim so many wiki pages to pull off anything substantial HAHAHA but there might be small roles here and there. who can say. smiles. mostly it'll be unmentioned though so who even knows if it's even happening in the bg or not 💀

suffice to say i'm a p3head . for pretty easy circumstantial reasons p5 was nowhere near as Life Altering to me as playing p3 at like Age 12 was. so in other terms p5 is like "a game i enjoyed playing but didn't need to commit to memory In Complete Detail" and p3 is like "a game that rocked my shit Permanently so i know the plot and timeline of it by heart" so it's much easier for me to pull from p3......

........however p3 already happened like 7 years ago in-universe so all of that knowledge is USELESS!!!!!!!

i have the directly au-relevant knowledge of p5 and p3 loaded. idk if we'll get into much beyoooond that stuff . is what i'll say. HDHBJFG

anyway my people are still trying to contact sae niijima's people to arrange a playdate but that's mostly for my own interests

If you saw my last post - then you'll understand why I'm making this one!! Plus I'm showing off the amazing art by my friend Nere - I'm here to explain all my Next Gen's partners!! (Pearl and Kid's partners will just have to be explained later though.... sorry Kin and Otto.) I've added the chart again so you know the names of everyone in case for some reason it got confusing.. anyway!! ~ "Glitch, what did you mean in that last post that you couldn't have Guy and Darwin together?" ... welp I guess now's a good time to introduce the Next Gen's partners!! Starting with Pig. (Pig in a blanket Dog). If you remember in the show Guy said he was "born attached to his two brothers" - yeah. Echo and I have named them "Hot Dog Dude" and "Hot Dog Man". Dude ended up with a teen pregnancy (17, same age as Gum) which resulted in Pig being born. But Dude wasn't the best parent and didn't really want the responsibility.. so Guy stepped up. Ends becoming more of a father to his nephew than Dude ever was. Guy even legally adopts Pig at some point, and Pig sees Dude as more of an 'uncle' instead. (I'm sure that's confusing but idk man, it is what it is.) Anywaysss - Pig ends up with Zipper!! ("Childhood friends to Lovers” trope). Very sappy and in love!! The reason I didn't wanna put Guy with Darwin is because well.. Zip is Darwin's nephew. Wouldn't it be odd if your uncle is dating your boyfriend's dad...? ("Glitch, Guy isn't biologically Pig's dad though?" - I know, but it's.. the principal.. okay???) So I figured it's just easier to keep Guy and Dar as good friends. (I say all this as if there isn't confusing stuff later.. I'LL GET TO IT.) - Moving on; Leonard (Lenny) is obviously; Larry and Karen's son! (I did make a post recently saying that Larry is also married to Small, yep that's still true. Go read that post if you're confused though. Lenny ends up with Cas!! ("Friends to Lovers" trope. Yes all the GR kids have a 'romance trope' with their relationships cause I think it's fun!) -

Continuing down the line - Cosette ends up with Wessley. He is just an Oc with OC parents. Isn't a next gen of anyone in canon so there's not much to explain there. (their 'trope' is the "Coffee Shop Romance" btw!) I don't have much to say about them other than I love them!! (I love all my next gen ships.)

- Nezt up is Elliot who ends up with a boy named Rodney (Rod)! He is the son of "Shooting Star" (which I just say at this point is his name. Another Hot Dog Guy situation lol) As for Rodney's mom? She was an anonymous surrogate. I know who she is (yes it's another bg character, I'm sure you could figure out which one.) Rod plays a pivotal role in Eli's life, and ironically their 'trope' is "Second Chances''. They go through trials and errors but work though it <33 - Aaaaand finally for the twins; Roe ends up with Nimble and Rem ends up with a girl named Lei! Nimble is a fictional lizard/gator thing, a species I made up and still don't have a name for :') Nim was an orphan but eventually adopted by some of Cas' classmates (who, are adults at this point and are Oc's so no canon characters again.) Roe and Nim are the classic "Enimies to Lover's" trope - just like GumRob! Nim was Roe's 'nemesis' (it was more of a one sided thing. Roe hated Nim way more than Nim could ever hate Roe LMAO). Took Roe a while to even ADMIT he had any feelings for Nim. (Of course the whole fam teased him about it.) -

Rem ends up with Lei - the daughter of Chi Chi and LeXing. ("Who's LeXing?" - does Miracle Star sound familiar? If not, Miracle Star was the carbon copy of TAWoG which then inspired the "Copycats" episode that Chi Chi starred in.) Yeah, Chi Chi wasn't happy to hear his daughter was with a Watterson so their 'trope' is "Forbidden Lovers" but that's a much more dramatic title. Chi Chi was not happy in the slightest.. but it wasn't like he didn't allow them to date, ya know? - I hope this gives some insight on these guys ;v; and PLEASE go check out my friend Nere, the one who drew the 6 images of all the GR kids and their partners <33

Born during the reformation that happened after the war- basically, nobody was really fighting anymore during this time, but some big people in power were still being stupid [aka: not letting their prisoners go]

So that would be somewhere around 1947? Which would put his age at 61 in my universe [which is in 2008- the times are pretty much random, nothing really lines up irl. Ignore how they use tech and other things that shouldn't have been invented yet lol]

He grew up when the Skunk Dolls were new and popular and stuff. And he loved them- so much that the band actually kinda inspired his music career

He has a strange out-of-pocket interest in astrology.

So is giving people food

He's not great with his words and can find it hard to express love by just telling someone. Back to the bluntness thing, you can often find him accidentally offending someone and he doesn't even realize it

The troupe very quickly learned this and it's more of an endearing trait of his to them [and to most people who know him]

REALLY good cook. Fantastic, in fact. Probably one of the best chefs out of any of the characters.

Learned the hard way that enlisting Buster's help in the kitchen is a bad idea. Also Ash isn't great either, but he actually tries to teach her some of his recipes. And she's quickly improving

Buster was just being an idiot and forgot you shouldn't microwave tinfoil

Clay travels a lot, but spends most of his time in Calatonia [he technically still lives at his and Ruby's house, but he's super scared of accidentally closing himself off again, so he only visits to check up on the flowers and maintain the property pretty much]

He's like Ash's second [and very cool] dad. Which- also intimidates Buster quite a bit :D

I feel like their dynamic could be a sitcom. Clay is Ash's awesome dad and Buster is Ash's lame [endearing] and oddly unhinged and anxious dad who feels like he has to be as cool as Clay [and always fails heehee]

Clay is more entertained by Buster's ridiculous criminal record than horrified and I don't know if that's worrying or just a classic Calloway W

He's a very nonchalant person

Ruby's death is the only time I can really think he had a legitimate emotional break that wasn't just him being snappy [which is also pretty rare]

Clay's also like an uncle to the Piglets

He's kinda just taken up the role of "super awesome miscellaneous family member" for everyone at this point

He's back performing again after Sing 2- just not frequently or putting out any new songs [on his own at least- he might do a collaboration or two with Ash]

🥺🥺🥺 not 2 be sappy on main but omg I actually started off in Deviantart ages ago, that was the closest thing to social media for me until the tumblr migration lol. But I never really interacted with people on there, and even upon moving to tumblr, never really interacted with people here too often either. At first I had my main blog which was meant to be more professional since I was selling art to get a little college income, so I didn't really make too many irrelevant posts. Then I decided that I wanted to be able to reblog art and support other artists, so I made a side blog where I carefully curated and tagged the posts I reblogged. I made a few original posts but no one ever interacted, and eventually I realized that people only ever sent me asks there if I tagged anything wrong. Also I found out that adding stuff like series and character tags to a reblog on tumblr is basically useless because the op will pretty much always tag those things which makes it searchable on your own blog even if you don't tag it yourself. And if op DIDN'T tag it those things, your tags will make the post searchable on your blog but NOT in the general search, so it doesn't give op any more of a boost than just reblogging it tagless. So I made another sideblog, which I still have today, and I just rapidfire reblog literally anything I find shareworthy lol. Not any interaction there but at least I'm not wasting my time meticulously tagging strangers posts hsfjdlshfks. Since I was best friends with a big name fan in my main fandom (we became friends when I left a long emotional comment on their fanfic btw <3), I helped run some small fandom events and met more people as well. When I switched fandoms, it was a fandom event that gave me a new friend too, my posts never got any traction. Large fandom discords didn't really work for me either. But on this blog I was lucky, and for the first time people started like actually responding to my comments and posts, and get conversations going! And genuinely that's what's kept my brain rot so powerful I think, because bouncing ideas off each other and joking around and shitposting is genuinely the most fun I've ever had online!! I have to thank desta and oatmeal for the fun times especially, and hillbilly---man left really nice comments on my first few fics that really encouraged me, and I always have fun trading ideas with alienn, saikikthoughts, and crookedlyinnernightmare, plus everyone else who's on here, that's too many people to type out. AND I TYPED UP A BUNCH MORE STUFF BUT TUMBLR FUCKING DELETED IT!! Are you shitting me.... Well I think I remember saying that even if it's been getting kinda quiet and boring lately so my attention is starting to wander (I've pretty much posted all of the meta that's not deep fanfic hc at this point and my drawings take me a long time to make), I'll never delete this blog and I'll still be putzing around online until the day I die probably. And I'll always remember these days fondly and hope to find another great community like this one. And also I highly encourage everyone to post, reply, interact, and play with fellow fans! I've made lifelong friendships over blorbos and even if we don't have the same blorbos any more, we're still friends. Obviously stay safe online, never send money to strangers, probably wait like a year to start shipping each other stuff but still, reach out because you never know who you might meet! I've been lonely irl for most of my life for various reasons, and my online friends have been a lifeline honestly, they're all really important to me. Two of my best friends today come from fanfic comment sections!! Also I need to get around to archiving my meta on AO3 lol (yup, it's for meta too!) but that's gonna be a lot of work so -_-U).

Superhero Movie Fatigue Thoughts...

The seemingly infinite obsession people have with thinking the Russos are an authority on all things comic book film means of course they've been forced to wade in on this never-ending conversation about "what's gone wrong." For what it's worth, I thought their answer was fairly diplomatic and anyone who has been following me even briefly knows it costs me QUITE a lot to compliment them (to be honest, Winter Soldier was definitely very good) but they do have a point. I think they're only part-right that viewing habits between generations is to blame, but they were hardly likely to be more frank and say "yeah the recent offerings have been absolute ass" when they're more famous than they could ever dream of being due to Marvel/Disney. Before I get into my own relationship with comic book films I need to give some other context: I am genuinely a film fan in general and the lack of choice some months in the cinema thanks to Marvel Release #367 has started to annoy me. Sometimes there'll be a different film I want to see and it's a case of blink and you'll miss it. Life gets in the way and you didn't find the time to go to the cinema for that one six hour window it was actually playing. I know this seems pretty rich coming from someone who mostly blogs about Loki and other science fiction/fantasy stuff but I do genuinely love films. Despite the existence of streaming my husband and I have a huge Blu-ray and DVD collection. We want more original content at the cinema. I really enjoyed Barbenheimer last year, I can't remember the last time I wanted to go to the cinema for a double feature before then - I think it was 2019! I know there are ways you can criticise that phenomenon too but it felt like an organic build up to something that was a lot of fun and, depending on your view point, you got to see 1 or 2 pretty good films out of it. Christopher Nolan has this whole counter movement and counter-counter movement surrounding him that isn't exactly unearned (I'm boring and fall in the middle, he's got good and bad points) but Oppenheimer was a genuinely great film in my opinion. It didn't feel like three hours and the main performances were all outstanding. By contrast I remember feeling every minute of Endgame's run time. That's not me saying I can't sit for three hours, that's me saying that I think my brain was simply done with the Infinity Saga by that point. (Going to put this under a cut because it's getting quite long...)

Now to circle that back to what the Russos were saying, I do think a lot of folk in my generation basically decided Endgame was a good time to check out. Many of us had seen the bulk of any comic book releases between circa 2000 and 2019, that's from childhood/teens through a lot of life changes. It's not that we don't necessarily love comic book films any more, it's that you become a bit more time poor as you get older for various reasons and you're maybe a bit more choosy about what you are willing to schedule among everything else in your life. Personally I don't have my own kids but I have family (mine and my husband's) scattered all over England and Scotland (which requires a lot of time to visit them) and I've become busier at work over the last five years. A lot of my tumblr posting happens during evenings/weekends or in a flurry when I'm on a tea break. I got to the point with the MCU where I realised that I was getting attached to characters and storylines and canon was just never going to give me the things I wanted. You accept this is part of following fiction btw, it's just that I took the view "what's the point in wasting my time on something that isn't bringing me the joy it once did?" Hence I decided I would no longer go to the cinema for every Marvel release regardless of how good it allegedly was - quality didn't factor in my decision, I think "maybe I'll watch it on Disney+" - which is what I did with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol3. The other thing in the equation is that over that 19-20 year period I mentioned I think people forget that there were other non-MCU films where there's a LOT of drek. I have never enjoyed a Fantastic Four film. The X-Men and original Spider-Man trilogies seemed to fall off a cliff during their third entries and my personal take on that is that both of those third films are overstuffed with references and characters and they also contain stupid decisions like doing the Dark Phoenix saga yet killing Cyclops. At the same time, and speaking of Christopher Nolan, I will always love the Dark Knight trilogy even though TDKR skirts around that third-movie disappointment thing. The MCU felt so much different for a while because even when there were films that maybe felt not quite as good as some of the others, it still managed to pull you in and make you care. But I always knew there was a point where it would start groaning under its own weight and although some people point to the Multiverse Sage I feel it was already happening in Phase 3. Just think of how many characters were on the posters/general promo for Endgame - how many of those characters were in the entire run time for probably less than a dozen or so minutes? It was just too much. But you forgave it because you were invested in seeing how it ended. And then it ended, pissing some people off in the process, and you're surprised that a lot of the audience just doesn't want to do this any more? You know what else this reminds me of... ...welcome to comic books Marvel Studios. You have finally created a wholly authentic page to screen experience right down to people getting fed up of keeping up with everything. I guarantee now the original actors are aging out of their roles you're considering blowing it all up aren't you? Aren't you?! So yes, the Russos are maybe right that younger Gen Z and Gen Alpha would rather consume things instantly in their own time than gather around for event TV/films. But considering that many of us across the generations are into older media and technology (e.g. collecting physical media) I know from observing the audience at my screening of Barbie that there are younger folk who would go to the cinema for an event film...it's just that maybe the MCU defined their childhood in the way the older comic book films (and I mean stuff from earlier than the 00s too, things that were on TV on a Saturday afternoon!) did for me and now that chapter of their life is a nice memory to look back on - they maybe just can't be bothered with going through all that again.

Yesssssss I'm glad we're all on the same page here! These kids get some eyes that are very much not natural. These eye colors show up when their powers initially do and are a permanent situation. They can conceal their other forms and inhuman usage of powers, but the eye color sticks around, marking them as "contaminated".

Here's what I'm thinking for the Main Characters and their eyes.

Stan - his brown irises darken to fully black, making it impossible to see his pupils. But since he starts wearing his glasses at the school, it can be hand waved as him just having really dark brown eyes. (Speaking from experience here; after I switched to contacts so many people were like "Oh wow you have blue eyes!") In the right lighting, Stan's irises shine rainbow and his sclera (for those who don't know, that refers to the "white" of the eye) get a bit of a rainbow-y sheen to them as well. When Stan is in oil form, his eyes remain the same for the most part, but his irises shine rainbow a lot more.

Side note: Stan having fully black irises IS abnormal. While it is possible to have irises such a dark brown that they are indistinguishable from the pupil, actual black irises are impossible.

Ford - his brown irises turn to a dark red, once again passable as a normal eye color behind his glasses. But his eyes change color further when he goes into his glass form and explodes things. When he explodes things (which, btw, he explodes things he's looking at, so when he's first dealing with his power he has to do a lot of quickly looking away from people), his eyes turn gold. Since he goes into glass form when he explodes stuff at first, that's the only change that is noticed. Once he gets better control, however, and can go into glass form without blowing stuff up, his irises turn clear in that form, becoming effectively invisible. His pupils remain however; remember, folks, the pupil is actually just a hole through which light enters and thus will not change color.

Fiddleford - I'm bringing back bright green-eyed Fidds from the Accidental Abduction AU! His power is based around plants and fertilizer, so fuck it, we'll say he's basically got chlorophyll in his irises instead of melanin. His blue irises turn a like, spring grass green. Some people have green eyes, but not like this. This is a green that can only come from chlorophyll, not from light scattering in the stroma of the iris. When he uses his powers, the green leaks into his sclera. How much leaks into his sclera depends upon how much effort it takes for that particular usage of his power.

Angie - she's a special case because of course she is. Making her otherworldly eyes obvious right away would throw off the whole shtick where she doesn't realize she's got a power. That's the author's explanation. The in-universe explanation is that her situation is different for two reasons. 1) she inherited her power, and 2) she has a mild form of heterochromia. Angie's eyes are blue, but she has a small ring of gray around her pupils that is only visible up close. Because her power is inherited, her otherworldly eye situation takes longer to kick in. When her power manifests, one of her eyes becomes fully blue and the other fully gray. But it's not noticed.

Not to go all "light eyes look different in different lighting" on you, but it's true! I have blue eyes but have been told they look gray and a few months ago my own sister told me she thought my eyes were green. The different shades of light eyes depends upon how light scatters in the stroma of the iris, so of course light eyes vary depending upon lighting! Lighting, what color you're wearing, whether you've been crying recently; all of these are things that I have noticed make my eyes look different colors.

So that's why Angie's initial eye color change isn't noticed. One eye remains effectively the same, and the other one changes to a color that passes as the same as the blue one due to lighting and the color just generally being close. However, the gray eye slowly turns silver. Like, metallic silver. By the time Angie gets to the school, her iris looks like it's made of metal. And then it begins to reflect as though it's metal, too. Basically, Angie eventually winds up with one blue eye and one eye with an iris that acts as a mirror, changing color depending upon what it is reflecting. But the best part is: which eye is which color is inconsistent. It switches randomly. Which is another reason it wasn't caught right away. It's more difficult to notice a small difference that isn't consistently different in the same way. Like Fiddleford, Angie's odd iris color can leak into her sclera if she's using her power in a way that takes a lot of effort.

Hoo boy I'm about to have a hot take and I'm sorry for putting it on your dashes. But I've done this event five times and I have Thoughts. Mainly one thing:

The XV event was better than the XVI one.

Yes we got good glam to show off our tits and we got a doggo mount but if this was a means for me to want to play XVI, this wasn't it.

Welp, going under the cut here so if you haven't done either the XV or XVI questline, turn back. Probably won't be as bad but you know, people probably don't want to get spoiled.

We good? Cool.

For me, what draws me to a story is the characters. With Noctis, he felt more active during his event as we do a mini road trip with him. He asks questions, he tells us a bit about himself, hell at one point he goes fishing and is like 'hey I wanna take a picture!' and having recently played it on Cinder, it felt nice. He takes the lead at times and it was fun.

Then I did the XVI event and at first, I thought it was nice and good. The fight idea felt like something from Persona and y'all know I do love that series (despite all the bullshit) and facing yourself and your fears are in fact tasty. But Clive...he was boring. It felt like I was guiding a lost puppy because Yoshi-P's insert told me to due to guiding stars he saw in a dream. Lead Clive to airship, lead him to various points in Gridania where he says basically the same thing until hearing about Garuda.

Funny how Garuda is some kind of key thing in both events but in XV's event, not only do we fight them but we understand a little about them and that this kind of thing is a test for Noct mainly. We don't know shit about XVI's Garuda or what a Bearer is. And if someone is going to say 'oh they don't want to spoil the game!' I am going to retort with that they did not spoil XV for me. All we know is that Noct is on his way with his bros to see his fiancee. If you played the game you would be able to figure it out but if you're like me who knows it through osmosis and an old memory of someone playing the game but not much, it wouldn't bother you.

I didn't connect with Clive but I wanted to...in the non sexual way unlike most of Twitter. Yeah, most of my exposure to him is people talking about his tits, how breedable he is, and getting him naked. There is the rare moment that someone puts a clip on that shows some kind of emotion he has that doesn't involve any of the above and I'm just like "Where is all the stuff for this?!" I want to see emotion come from Clive or at least SOMETHING other than blank face. My knowledge of XVI is bare fucking bones but when Torgal got more of an emotional response than him...something is weird.

As a side note, never do complete memory loss plots for short term stories like this. Because people may assume (like me) that it's an excuse for them to have no personality. Btw Cid and Yotsuyu want to know your location. No reason. Also, I know when it comes to something heavy like that, you need time for that. I'm doing this with Cinder as she regains her past life memories up until 6.0 and Yua's bit in Faerun has her with no memories but both regain pieces as their stories go on.

So long story short: XVI event felt like a nothing burger but the wrapping (rewards) were nice. If I want to get into the game, Yoshi-P's insert saying to go play XVI won't do it. It might be from people who enjoyed the game and have passion for it that might. Make me have an emotional connection with the character, make me root for them when they need it, make me feel SOMETHING!

If you enjoyed the event and thought it was S-tier then good. I'm happy for you because we need some of that around. It just made me look more at the event after my third go and think '...hmm, the joy I feel is decreasing. Why?'

Tbh given what she says about how the whispers took everything from her I think in remake she was fully aware of everything and then it all went away and she went back to being her default OG bitch self, so she's not inconsistent before that point, it's that she knew things she no longer does and forgot what she knew so she's just a selfish bitch at heart and any character development she started off with went bye bye.

yo, having 6k in chapter 3 is amazing. good for you!

my first playthrough i got the white arabian and i named her Lemoyne Tree as a tribute to the state of Lemoyne and my favorite post malone song Lemon Tree. But she always got super dirty so i then went to the lake next to Strawberry and tamed the red chestnut arabian. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that one, she's gorgeous and arthur always gets that one when i play it. my beautiful baby girl Diablo <3

also yes. heckin FUCK MICAH BELL. even from the beginning he's been a slime ball. hate that man <3

i won't go too far, but just keep yourself high honor towards the end of the game. you need that to be your first ending. :')

Charles deserves the absolute world. just listening to him speak and hanging out with him at camp, and the missions you continue on to do with him throughout the game are so much fun. charles is someone i wish i could have in my real life because he seems like he would be the best person to speak to and hang out with. he is so lovely and down to earth. even arthur says it a couple times throughout the game. charles gets a good ending i promise.

my top blorbos are Arthur, Dutch, Charles, Hosea, and Josiah Trelawny my absolute beloved <33333 just wait until you go on the mission with Charles to find trelawny. one of my favorite missions ever ever ever ever!!

a lot of people dislike dutch, but i love him so much. he is my actual father. i love him.
