Race’s head was swimming. He couldn’t tell what was real and what was a dream. He heard people talking, felt people touching him and couldn’t lift his arms to push them away. He could feel sores and burns from the ropes all over him and he knew that if they knew he was awake, they’d find a knew position to put him in. He tried to take deep breaths. It had to be a secret that he was aware now. Maybe he could just listen and find out where they were and maybe the earpiece would turn back on and Jack could find him and—

Wait. The earpiece. It was gone. The boy couldn’t feel it in his ear anymore. He stopped breathing for a moment as his throat got tight. He didn’t want to cry. He didn’t want them to see him cry. But that didn’t stop a tear from trailing down his cheek. He sniffled, still not taking a proper breath. He heard something start beeping and blinked his eyes open a bit to find a blurry mess of a world. “Oh my god, is he breathing? Hey… hey, blondie, take a breath, you’re okay, you’re so safe,” someone whispered. “It’s okay.”

“I c-can’t hear him anymore, I c-can’t hear Jack,” Race began to sob, completely uncontrollably. Then he remembered something else. “S-Smalls?! Saraya?!”

“Hey, hey,” the voice whispered. “It’s okay, it’s alright, just breathe. In and out, just breathe. I got you, Toots.”

That’s when the voice clicked. Race managed to take a quick gasp of air before he clenched his hand a bit, like he was trying to grab something. “S-Sean?” he whimpered, his voice breaking.

Spot immediately laced his fingers through his fiancé’s. “Hey, Racer. I’m right here. Smalls is safe. She’s with Jack. Pretty shaken up but she’s alright,” he promised.

When Race’s vision finally adjusted, he saw his beautiful fiancé sitting in a chair beside him. And he himself felt an uncomfortable mattress beneath his back. Everything was blue and white and plastic and metal and Race knew right then he was in some stuffy hospital. He couldn’t move his head to look around though. He could feel his heartbeat pulsing through his entire body. Every single muscle in him was sore to the point of paralysis. He just stared at Spot and tried to place the pieces together. He couldn’t remember what happened. Not even a little bit. “Jack is here?”

“Of course Jack is here,” Spot assured. “H-he’s the one that saved you,” he admitted. “Right now he’s talking to a social worker.”

Race blinked, confused. “But I’m too old ta have a social worker.”

That made Spot smile for a minute. It was a sad smile, but a smile nonetheless. “Not for you, baby. For Saraya. She’s become somewhat attached to him and since he’s already technically a foster parent, he might actually have a shot at taking her in.”

Race didn’t even know what to say to that. He told his brain to tell his body to move but nothing happened. “Why can’t I move?” he whimpered. “Jack?! Jackie!” he started to scream, but it wasn’t as loud as he thought it would be. His voice was broken. It hurt to talk a bit.

“Tyler, your body is just resting, you need rest. It’s like… you remember that episode of How I Met Your Mother? When Barney tried to run a marathon without training and then he couldn’t get off the subway?” Spot explained. “It’s… it’s like that. You were using your muscles for too long and now they’re fatigued and you need to rest.”

The dancer blinked up at him as more tears welled up in his eyes. His eyes didn’t hurt so bad anymore when he cried. He supposed that must be due to an IV. He swallowed hard. “H-he took my ring,” Race whimpered. “C-Creep… h-he took my engagement ring. I-I’m so sorry, I told him ta give it back. I told him—“

“Angel, it’s just a ring,” Spot whispered. “I will buy you a million more pieces of jewelry, I don’t care, we’ll get you a new ring.” That didn’t seem to make Race feel any better. So Spot sighed and pulled a necklace out of his pocket. The dream catcher necklace. Race’s felt himself melt at that. “We found it outside the studio…”

“I-I thought it was gone,” Race whispered.

Spot gently let the thing dangle around Race’s neck. “Why don’t you close your eyes, huh? Try to relax…”

“I wanna see Jack,” Race insisted.

Spot nodded. “He’ll be here the second he’s done with the social worker—“

“No, I need to talk ta my brother, Spot. He thinks I hate him,” Race whimpered.

“I promise that’s not true,” Spot insisted. “Look, he’s gonna come back as soon as you can. He’s barely left your side in three days.”

“Three days?” Race whimpered.

Spot ran a hand over his hair, brushing it back so he could kiss the younger man’s forehead. “You’re still a little warm,” he whispered. “The fever should go away soon.”

Race blinked a bit. He tilted his head up so he could kiss Spot. It was barely a peck. Spot was a bit stunned. Race swallowed hard. “Kiss me,” he begged.

“Tyler,” Spot sighed.

“Spot, kiss me. I n-need you ta touch me, please, please just get on top of me and use you’re stupid muscles—“ the blond begged.

But Spot shook his head. “You’re exhausted, Race, you don’t know what you’re saying—“

“I can still feel him, Sean!” Race whimpered. “Please, I don’t wanna feel him anymore…”

Spot sighed, holding Race’s hand close to his chest. His whole body burned at the thought of that man manipulating his love. He hadn’t seen the videos. Jack had made sure of that. But Spot knew that Jack had watched them. So had so many other feds. He was sure Race didn’t know and he didn’t want him to. The poor thing would be humiliated. “Baby, I promise we’ll be okay. I promise it’ll be okay. But you need to rest.”

Race just managed to turn away from him, sighing in frustration. He didn’t anticipate that to make him dizzy. He closed his eyes and sniffled, not knowing if he’d ever be able to move again, much less dance. He didn’t want to think. He didn’t wanna be aware. He just wanted Jack.

My Highlights from AEW Double or Nothing 2023

We did Night of Champions now it's AEW's turn to do the big PPV. While people will say it wasn't built well (something they said last year if I recall) there's a lot of potentially great wrestling matches on the card, so let's see how it went down on the night and list out the positives.

Note: because of growing disinterest and lack of time on my bank holiday I won't be doing NXT Battleground that aired at the same time, sorry about that

Buy-In

Paul Wight looking to Stokely when Renee said the 'biggest big man', their rapport was great too we could put them as a commentary team...if we still had Dark/Elevation

RJ's interview with Arn was funny too

The Gunns didn't have the same music but I do like that they kept the spotlight entrance

Gonna sound weird, but it's good to see HOOK sell, of course doing several squashes can help you grow a reputation but if you can't sell you're only doing half the work

It's smart that the Owen is finishing in Calgary this year, I wonder who is in it though

Main Show

Kip going straight for OC is clever and fits continuity, also it was smart that Bandido made the save given his affiliation with Best Friends

Swerve waiting on the outside too is smart

Brian Cage's run against the Luchadors were fun, reminded me of his Lucha Underground days

Trent sacrificing himself for OC

I had Jay winning but Ricky eliminating Jay was well done

The final sequence of the battle royale was great, need a proper Swerve vs OC match, the final move is hilarious as well, perfectly on brand

And I'm not upset that OC retained, because as much as this would've protected OC, whoever takes it from his exhausted bruised flavedo deserves to do it 1 on 1

Sabu's role was mercifully brief, mainly designed to remove the JAS

Britt getting some revenge on Jericho and Saraya with the Kendo Shots

Clever of Jericho to shift into a choke with the chain when he missed the Judas Effect

Mark Briscoe's ref outfit

The pop for Sonjay getting ejected

Also the heat for Karen hitting Aubrey, you don't hit Aubrey!

It was good story payoff too that Jarrett snapping on Mark was his own downfall

Tease of Bullet Club vs FTR?

Saraya and Jericho actually gel really well

Christian back with his turtleneck, it always puts a smile on my face

The final third of the ladder match was well done, it was a good adlib from the broken ladder incident too

Dang Julia

The Dominik burn by the Acclaimed's rap

Jade's entrance was impressive too

I don't think it was a Sit-out Blue Thunder Bomb (looked almost like an Olympic Slam/Powerbomb to me) but whatever it was I thought it was cool

STATLANDER'S BACK!

STATLANDER BEAT JADE!

Congrats to Tay and Sammy as well, explains why we hadn't seen Tay in-ring either

Darby's video before his entrance was hilarious too

And that attire, half bones, half Elvis, perfection

The orchestral MJF entrance with the descending throne too was on brand extra from Max

MJF's dialogue before being hit is still humorous

And his pop-up Powerbomb/Backbreaker is still meaty as fuck

The mentor finisher reference too was a great spot

Also Sammy tricking Max by laying down, saw it coming but still a clever move

The pinning sequences spot too

A clever finish to a great match too, Darby thwarted by JB and then Max, JB thwarted by his own indecision, Sammy thwarted by Darby but Max once again seals it with a headlock takeover

If there was any doubt that the Four Pillars match wouldn't rock, that doubt is now silenced

It's not Anarchy in the Arena if the match starts while Wild Thing is still going

Conclusion

It was not perfect, but thanks to the double main event the show ended up being a good one. I'm of course irked by some things; Takeshita heel turn (he's too pure for that Tony!), Jamie losing in what was essentially a sprint, and the finish of the Unsanctioned Match (if AEW is not responsible for the harm caused by the competitors why is there a ref stoppage?), but the lows are outweighed by the good. We had some exciting twists that did reignite the crowd when they got quiet and both the Four Pillars and Anarchy in the Arena matches were as advertised.

My hope is that we find directions for the likes of Taya, Acclaimed, and many of the Battle Royal competitors, which Collision may manage to cater towards, but I can honestly say while it wasn't a great PPV, it was still worth the money, and I had more fun watching this than I did Night of Champions by a fair margin.

Match of the Night: Tough to call but I'm gonna go with the Four Pillars Four-Way over Anarchy in the Arena, Take my boy why you gotta be heel? And not even BCC Heel you gotta be Don Callis Heel!? I would've preferred betrayed heel Dark Order tbf not the Cinnabon man! Best Entrance: Entrances don't get used too often which is why I tend to omit it but since we had 6 unique entrances in this show I'm picking Jade Cargill Best Attire: I feel fine about picking Jade for Best Entrance because Darby wins best attire for me with the Elvis/Skeleton suit Best Performance: Four Pillars tie, they all just did so well Spot of the Night: Exploding Superkick by Matt

It's sad to see an admin be lied to by a clique but it's not the first time I've seen it. Anyone that's been around knows who these people are and have seen them called out for it. Kayla, Cee(C), Ash(Christan), M, Wolf, Ari, Rebel(A), and Fairy. There could be more of them but those are known to lie and manipulate people in groups. (Mainly the first three, the others just tag along for ships and keep quiet because they don't won't to lose their 'friends'. These people were called out online before for lying, manipulating and talking about others behind their backs. Screenshots were shown of them doing it and there was hope they would stop but they're bad people and can't stop. Everyone knows who they play usually. Mox, MJF, Hangman, Ricky Starks, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Billie Kay, Sasha Banks, Britt Baker, Seth Rollins, Eddie Kingston, Orange Cassidy, CM Punk, AJ Styles, Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley, Ruby Soho, Daniel Garcia, Saraya, Penelope Ford, Jamie Hayter, Shotzi, and Ethan Page. Kayla and Cee have also been known to play a few OC's. They also ship together as well since they hate and lie on everyone else. If they ship with you and you're not in their clique, they will soon lie and push you out so they can take over the ship. Kayla is big on lying/stealing ships. Everyone has seen her do it to get ships with Ash's Sasha and Britt many times. I feel bad for the Bayley here because she seems nice but they will continue to lie to her till she doesn't serve a purpose to them anymore. Ash's Sasha has done Sasha/Bayley 3 times as well as Sasha with 2 other muses only to have her friend get jealous and ruin the ship because they wanted to ship with her. I have seen it and others have seen it. I know this is long but when I'm lied about then it's time to tell the truth about those that are lying because they want the roles others have, want ships with them, or they're just bad people. My advice to those that are innocent and lied about is to make it known everywhere about these people so they learn to be better and stop lying. I enjoyed my ship with Britt and apologize to her mun for not telling her how these people are and that she would be on borrowed time since Britt is one they always want to play. I apologize to the mun of Tiffany for her losing Grayson's friendship but she as the admin let these people lie to her and believed them. I hope the group can survive their clique but groups have died every time those people are allowed in, half the time Kayla and Cee talk their way in as admins only to lie and push the other admins out. They lie on everyone even their own clique so I can't blame the admin here for being sucked in by them. This group had promise but with them around to lie and manipulate people, no one that's honest will want to be here and that is a sad fact.

Koda: “You’re awake.” Large hands gently cradle your face, his soft expression speaking more than he could ever say. Shifting closer, Koda nuzzles his nose against yours, a sharp breath of relief leaving him at the feeling of your responding action, while a beaming grin stretched across his lips. “I knew you were going to be okay. I knew that everything would work out okay.” He gently trails his fingers down your cheek. “I’m not going to wait any longer to do what I’ve been wanting to do. Warm breath ghosts across your skin, Scarlett nuzzling against your neck, and a soft purr escapes, rumbling deep from her chest. Slender fingers, that had found their way underneath the thin hospital shirt, flex, as if she was truly checking you were there, and tug you closer. “You came back to me,” she whispers, placing an almost reverent kiss to the underside of your jaw. “You kept your promise.”

Cyrus/Cyra: Crimson eyes, that had clearly not seen a wink of sleep in a long time, are immediately flooded with gold, a sob erupting from their mouth as they instantly move to cradle your face. “You’re here,” they whisper, drawing as close as they’d possibly dare in your current position. Dipping their head to place a gentle kiss to your forehead, a relieved sigh being all they offered for the next moment. “Thank you. For being here, for loving me, for being everything I never knew that I needed.”

Quinn: Sapphire blue, that had darkened to such a stormy cobalt it was almost unrecognizable, shifts instantly the moment they notice you looking back, that they were given the opportunity to look into the eyes that they’ve fallen so in love with. Words fail them, they wouldn’t know how to properly explain the relief they suddenly feel, the way that their wolf was now howling in joy, and that they no longer felt the crushing weight bearing down onto their chest. “I missed you.” They finally settle on, taking your hand gently into their own. “Never do that again, okay?”

Caden: Seeing the shift in your aura, in the way that your soul no longer felt like it was crying out for a way to escape, allows their tears to fall down their face in jubilation— no longer wrought with the agony of knowing that they might lose you at any moment. In the face of your gaze, of the light that shone from your very being, they feel the hollow emptiness, the chilling grasp, abate from their heart, the dull atmosphere that the world had become suddenly awash with color. “You’re here,” they say, shifting closer to your bedside. “I’m not going to let anything hurt you again, okay? I’m going to protect you like you’ve always protected me. I promise.”

Sloane: A relieved sound escapes their mouth at the sight of you, somewhere between a strangled sob and a sharp gasp, before they get impossibly closer, pressing their forehead against your chest, relishing in the warmth that now slipped through. “You’re such an asshole,” they grunt, fingers digging into the blanket wrapped around you. “Never do that to me again.” Hazel eyes raise to meet your own, flashing gold in a clear warning. “You can’t ever do that me again. Understood? I don’t know if I’d be able to survive it a second time.”

Blake: “Sleeping Beauty has finally awoken,” they gently tease, caressing your cheek. Their attempt at levity, at the natural way they interacted with you, being completely dismantled by the shadows that hung underneath their eyes, at the red rimmed quality of shimmering violet, and the slightly pallid hue to normally tanned skin. Something they seem to take note of, and their false sense of nonchalance falls away, the weight of what had happened bearing down onto their shoulders. “We really need to work on safety precautions, angel.” They lean down and press a chaste kiss to your lips, humming at the familiar feel of you against them. “I don’t know what I would have done if I’d lost you.”

Reginald/Regina: “You’re okay.” Quickly standing, they immediately almost fall back onto their chair as their feet catch on something, but it’s not an event that stops their trek towards you. Instead, they happily settle on the edge of your bed, taking your hand into their own. “I knew that you would be. It wouldn’t have made any sense for me to outlive you after all.” A gentle smile quirks their lips, but it soon falls away, their grip tightening around yours. “I’m so glad won’t be the case. I’m so glad that I still have you. There’s still so much I want to do and see, and I don’t want to do any of that without you.”

Helena: Your mother is by your side in an instant, her face uncharacteristically gentle as she cradles your face in her hands. “My little one,” she murmurs, bending down to press a kiss to your brow. “I’m so glad to see your eyes again. I don’t know what I would have done if I’d lost you.” Helena pauses, her expression darkening. “Well, I do, but I’d rather not cause a war if I don’t need to.”

Saraya: “Little light.” The gentle exclamation of the your childhood nickname is followed by a warm presence settling next to you. Your mama’s gentle expression filled with nothing but her love for you, warm hands running through the strands of your hair with all the care in the world. “You gave us all quite the scare—” Her smile falters at the reminder of what had happened, but her touch never falls away. “I love you, my little light, please never forget that.”

Cienna: Your eldest sister raises elegantly from the undoubtedly uncomfortable hospital chair, a picture perfect definition of grace, but the way electric blue eyes seem to sparkle with renewed life tells you the struggle that she had been subjected to in recent days. “I forgot how dramatic you can be, Beastie,” she teases, settling on the edge of your bed, taking your hand in a light grasp. “Almost dying will definitely take the cake for years to come.” Her hold tightens ever-so-slightly, obsidian black flashing within her gaze. “We’ll find out who did this, and I’ll personally ensure that they die screaming. I promise you, Beastie.”

Persephone: A relieved cry erupts from her lips at the sight of you, various kisses being placed across your face in her happiness. You vaguely note that the usual hospital blanket had been replaced by a quilt that Persephone had no doubt made just for you, its warmth, as well as the softness of it, a soothing balm against your aching body. “I was so worried, little one.” Persephone wrings her hands together, amber eyes filled with worry, before she begins to fuss over your blanket and pillows; wanting to ensure you were as comfortable as possible. “I’m so glad you’re okay. None of us would be the same without you.”

Christian: Auburn hair falls across his forehead, the normally boyish curls completely haphazard in their tousled state; his usually well put together appearance being cast to the wayside. “You’re awake,” Christian murmurs, gently taking your hands into his own shaking grip. Forest green, that’s slowly being eclipsed by obsidian, filled with nothing but adoration as he looks at you. He doesn’t say anything for a moment, as if he didn’t know what he could possibly say, but he eventually repeats the only thing that seemed important to him. “You’re awake.”
