I know, you think that what makes a king, is gold, a palace, and diamond rings

Two nights before the wedding, Horace found himself sneaking out of the palace and into the gardens. He was grateful, not for the first time, that his confusing status as both a lowborn knight and the soon to be Prince Consort had allowed him some flexibility when it came to having an escort. Once he married Cassandra and his role in the Araluen monarchy was cemented, he’d be followed by, at a minimum, a manservant, if not several members of the royal guard. But for the moment, he was blessedly alone. He walked until the torches of the guard stationed atop the castle’s wall became little flickers of orange light. Looking up at the clear midnight sky, he connected the constellations in his mind. Baron Arald had always held an affinity for constellations and the legends behind them. If the nights were mild enough, he drag the ward children out to the gardens and point out each star to them and tell the tale behind their name. Horace had always found it extraordinarily boring and used the time to taunt Will or try to sneak back off to bed. Now however, he was beginning to understand Arald’s interest in the sky. He understood the peace that it could provide, the comfort in understanding just how vast the universe is, that even if you falter, the stars will still twinkle and the moon will still glow.

“That’s Ursula Major, isn’t it?” Cassandra’s voice pulls Horace’s gaze down from the heavens. She’s alone, wrapped up in a heavy blush and burgundy quilt that Horace recognized as the one Lady Sandra had sent as an engagement gift.

“You shouldn’t be wandering out here alone. Where’s your guard?” Horace checked behind his fiancée for her royal guard Raul, but besides the stars and the towering oak trees, they were alone.

“Probably still standing outside my door. I snuck out the window.” She grinned at him and for a moment, Horace felt a wave of sympathy for the king. Cassandra had never once been a girl who could be contained or controlled.

“Anyway,” She continued, “I knew with you out here, I’d have nothing to worry about.” She leaned against him and he instinctively wrapped his arms around her. Summer had rolled in slowly this year, and despite it already being mid June, the night air still carried a bit of spring chill.

“Why are you even awake? It’s late and you’ve got a busy day ahead of you.” He said.

Cassandra scrunched her nose. “A day of picking out ribbons and flowers, and confirming choices I made months ago.” She sighed, ”But it’s almost over. Soon I won’t have to climb down ivy covered stone in the middle of the night to see you, I’ll simply have to turn over.”

Horace smiled, but his heartbeat began to race again, just as it had back in his chambers before he escaped into the gardens.

Cassandra had obviously picked up on the change as well, because she pulled her head back to look up at him. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” He lied, “I’m about to marry my best friend, what could possibly be wrong?”

“Ok, first of all, don’t let Will catch you calling me your best friend or he’ll be walking down that aisle himself just to prove a point. Second, I’ve known you since we were sixteen Horace, I know when you are lying to me.” Her words weren’t accusing or insulted, she said it as if she was simply stating a fact.

He sighed heavily, “It’s dumb. I’m just,” he waves a hand in the space around his head, “stuck in here, I guess.”

“Can I help get you unstuck?”

He bit his lip, “It’s not something you’ll… understand.”

Cassandra rose an eyebrow at him, “Try me.”

“I don’t think I can be royalty.”

She laughs, but stops when she sees his guilty and serious expression in the moonlight. “Horace, that’s crazy. Of course you can.”

He steps back from her and shakes his head, “See, I knew you wouldn’t get it! Cassie, you were literally born for this kind of life. But, I wasn’t. I-I have nothing to offer the Crown. There’s no political advantage to you marrying me, no strategic benefit, certainly no financial gain.”

“Horace-“

“Everyone thinks it Cass! I see it the moment I walk into a room. Everyone at court is thinking the same thing, “Why him?” And I get it! Because since the moment we started this whole thing, that question has been echoing in my mind nonstop.” Horace’s breaths were heavy and he felt his heart racing in his chest.

“Do you really not know?” Cassandra’s voice was small and timid, two things it so rarely was. Horace’s shoulders shrugged on their own and Cassandra’s face fell at the response.

“Darling,” She grasped both his hands in hers, “I didn’t accept your proposal because I saw you as some sort of pawn, an asset to the kingdom. I accepted because I love you. Because I can’t imagine a life without you at my side.” She reached up and placed a gentle hand on his cheek, “Besides, haven’t you been paying any attention to the history lessons you’ve been taking? A good king isn’t measured by his wealth, or the number of his alliances. He’s measured by the strength of his heart, his love for his people. And by that standard, you’d make the very best of kings.”

Horace blinked up at Ursula Major, willing the tears that were being to form away. “I love you so much.” He felt her arms squeeze around him.

“I love you too. Now come on, we should head back before Raul realizes he’s lost me again.”

Will was waiting outside of his suite, folded against the door half asleep. Horace lightly kicked at his leg, even though he knew Will had noticed his approach the moment he entered the corridor.

“Dude, why are you sleeping against my door? Alyss get bored of you already?”

Will grinned up at him, “Not yet, thank god.” He yawned and Horace rolled his eyes before reaching down and pulling Will up to his feet.

“Thanks. I saw you sneak out. I was going to check on you, but then I saw Cassandra disappear after you and figured that was a party I wasn’t invited to.” He said with a wink.

Horace shoved him, “It wasn’t like that. I just, I don’t know. Was caught in my head.”

“Cold feet?”

“No. Maybe lukewarm feet, but everything is sorted now.”

“Good. Because as the best man, getting you down the aisle is literally my only job. And it’s a lot easier if you go willingly.”

Horace clapped Will on the shoulder, “No need to worry brother, there’s nothing I want more than to marry Cassie.”

Brennan: "So you've already rolled for Warlock, gotten the A+. Is there any other class that Fig actually wants to apply herself to while she's here?"

Emily: "So I kind of wanted to go in on the Mystery, is the thing."

Brennan: "Cool."

Emily: "But I am like really thinking about, I do kinda wanna just see what the Paladin class is like. **** me."

(Zac and Ally's face! 😭✋)

Brennan: "Hell yeah. Go ahead and give me a Religion check with advantage, because you're trying out Paladin classes."

Emily: *rolls dice* "That is a 19 on the die becomes a 22."

Brennan: "You head over to Paladin class where you see that there is a figure in a sort of like deep v-neck white shirt, like little silken scarf, this huge double-handed sword on their back. They have a little bit of like a five o'clock shadow. They look sort of- very like debonair and urbane. You're like a couple weeks into the school year and you see that written up on the chalkboard it says, 'Halo St. Croix'. And you see it says-"

Ally: "C-R-O-I-X?"

Brennan: "C-R-O-I-X. St. Croix if you prefer and says,"

Halo: "Well, well, well. Well into the month of October and already a new face emerges. A challenger appears on yon hill astride her destrier. Announce thyself, brave knight."

(All the laughter and Zac looks so done! 😂💀)

Emily: "Fig is really...Fig is really feeling the power of doubt right now."

Fig: "Cassandra, you are strongly with me right now. Uh Hi, I am Figueroth Faeth. I am the arch devil of rebellion and potential devotee of doubt."

Halo: "Well, speakest thou now thy sacred vows that we might learn before e'er long. What drives within the heart of this fiend?"

Fig: "Okay, my first thought for my sacred vows would be 'I wield the power of doubt to shatter all structures.'

Emily: "And then I cast Shatter again on the windows." 😂😂

Halo: "Ha ha! Counterspell." *waves a hand* 😂💀

Brennan: "You begin taking these classes. On an A+, Halo is a bit of a doofus."

Emily: "Yeah."

Brennan: "But you begin-"

Emily: "It only strengthens my doubt." 😭💀✋

Brennan: "It only strengthens your doubt."

Ally: "Great." 😂💀

Brennan: "On that very high roll for that first Paladin class, you also see in terms of independent studies, you get a letter from Lucilla apologizing for her display."

Emily: "Feel so bad. She has nothing to apologize for. I'm a mess."

Brennan: "Saying if you ever wanna come back to Bard class, that the door is open. You get a letter from Principal Grix affirming that you are a multiclass Barbarian/Warlock, and you are attending Paladin classes." 💀😭✋

*falls on the floor, wheezing laughing, kicking little feet (I'm a full grown ass woman and wear a size 5, the damn things are tiny)*

Have you met Abriella? *wheezes, falls over laughing again as she is giving the middle finger in my head*

Ok, I'm not laughing at you...I'm laughing because as soon as I read this, she stood up in my head and goes "ME! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS FUCKING BITCH HAS DONE TO ME?!?!"

SO...let me tell you about a 20 year journey of Briella Knight to Abriella Engel... *still giggling to self as she throws a fucking Queen ass tantrum*

Okay, so if we go waaaaaay back to when Abriella was born, she was not a character in a story I was writing, she was an RP character. Her name was Briella Knight and she was an Elemental. She controlled the 5 forces of nature - earth, wind, water, fire, and electricity/lightning.

Fast forward a few years, and some DND friends and I were talking about my RP and also about Cassandra Claire's Mortal Instruments book series and how we loved the premise of it, but we weren't totally sold on her mythos. This was 2007-ish. We kept talking about it and were like, "I like this", "this is bullshit" till "Sanctuary, The Society" was born...the name of our RP Group for the next several years. The original characters were Briella, Cruz, Talon, Talia, Dez, and Charmaine. Talia and Charmaine were written by the same person, all the rest of us only had one. Eventually, Raguel, Arioch, Deacon, and Olly joined the fold of characters, but no new writers.

This was when Briella first changed. She became Brie, discoverd she was a Nephilim, got Cruz as a brother, and BOOM...huge change. We actually write long ass storylines about all of these changes and how they went about. It is now canon in her history. You see it referenced.

Since then she's gone on to become the Horseman of Death, Grigori of the Source (as is Cruz), and the Queen of Upper and Lower Hell (Imperium & Caligo)... So...from basic Elemental to all of that....yeeeeaaaaahhhhh....bit of a change...and none of it was easy. If I just posted what I've put her through in the last 4 years....*cringe* And...uh...I have more planned now. But when I first planned her, I never could have considered she'd be a character in over 200 chapters now written. She's the main central character in the first over 150 (those aren't here..I haven't decided if there'd be interest in them). It's been a long ride, and although I've tortured her pour soul and body...she'll always be my most precious blorbo baby.

Wondering because if there is a place to submit in advance for inclusion in the poll post, i might do that!

I genuinely thought at first glance that your Adira as a European knight was supposed to be her when she was younger, before the Dark Kingdom was abandoned. It would've been interesting if King Edmund and the brotherhood had slightly different designs in the past than they do in the present. You know, to show that they aged in the 25+ years. But i understand why they just looked the same, it was probably both budget reasons and just too much effort for them to design younger versions of them for a couple small scenes.

That's not my art, it's @moltenhair's from a few years ago. I just reblog it every Halloween because I love it.

More budget than effort. After all, they went through the effort of designing an old face for Eugene for a gag that lasted a few seconds. From what I understand, the series got more and more budget as it went on, so they could do more things, and more extravagant ones. But in season two, they had to allocate budget for several locations (Vardaros, the Forest of No Return, Mother and Father's cottage in the woods (which included a set with bioluminescent mushrooms), Madame Canardist and Vigor's wagon, Fortuna (where the Daylight Thieves were hiding), the Spire, Terapi Island, the prison barge, Lombard's Pass (with the teetering rock spires), Pincosta, Virtuous St. Goodberry's camp, the Great Tree, the interior of Hook Hand's caravan, Trevor Jr and Lucille's wedding venue, the forest where Cassandra and an amnesiac Rapunzel were stranded, the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow, Demanitus' maze, and, last but not least, the Dark Kingdom), a handful of new outfits (Rapunzel and Eugene each had two, with the addition of Rapunzel's pink cloak for one episode, and Cassandra had three), plus many new characters. Adding slightly younger character designs for a handful of new people who were only seen younger for less then a minute of screentime apiece just wasn't in the budget.

Season 8: Series Finale

Season 8 takes place one year later.

This is a concept for a live-action Batman Tv Series that could be adapted on something like HBO MAX or a another network or streaming.

Synopsis: Gotham City has been at the mercy of criminal networks and underground operations that have plagued it for years. Batman had fought hard to protect Gotham. Has the Dark Knight enters his third year he learns just how much more help he’ll need to accomplish his crusade on the city.

Seeing if this was on streaming TV series the episode count would be anywhere from 8-13. For the first season will go with 12. Each episode is about 59 minutes, and all give a little summary for each episode.

Episode List:

1. High Society:

-The Grandmaster of the Court of Owls has been watching the Dark Knight protect the city for a long time know and has begun his plan to destroy the Batman.

-Bruce attends the annual Gotham High Society Ball and runs into his old classmate and ex-girlfriend Sliver St.Cloud.

- Batman has begun investigating a several mysterious murders;which leads him to an underground lair beneath the city. With strange writings,and symbols on the walls.

2. Mesmerized:

-Alfred and Tim have noticed a shift in Bruce, he’s not has included to be Batman almost as if someone’s controlling him.

- Barbara sends Spoiler and Black Bat investigate an attempted murder.The victim is Dr. Kirk Langstrom.

-Jason skips town for a few days leaving a letter in Tim’s room.

3. Earth to the Bat:

- When Dick visits the manor and asks to see Bruce he is shocked when he is told by Alfred that Bruce hadn’t been home lately as he’s been on several dates with an old flame.

-Cassandra is still getting used to being able to feel like she isn’t just a warrior all the time. Dick takes her to a garden at Wayne Manor and helps her to feel more in control.

- Barbara hacks into GCPD and finds a few cases that date back to Bruce’s early days,and Alfred informs her that these cases much like the ones now were never solved.

4. Legacy Names:

- Barbara calls Dick,Tim, Stephanie and Cassandra to help with her investigation.

- Tim and Stephanie are able to find the sealed names of the victims; two of them are William and Angela St. Cloud who were brutally murdered in an alleyway outside of their townhouse.

- Dick and Cass tail Bruce who goes with Sliver to a club in Otisburg and he never comes back outside.

5.Grand Entrance:

- Bruce awakes in the Labyrinth of the Owls and his face to face with the Grandmaster Owl who tells him that the Wayne Family is the old original family that refused to join the court land offers Bruce the chance to change that.

-Jason returns with some information from Talia about the Court of Owls, Dick takes this opportunity to visit Haley Circus to find out more about his family ties to the Court.

6. Birds of Death:

- Bruce Wayne is declared a missing person and the Batfamily leaps into action to find him.

-Dick becomes Batman for a night and investigates the last known locations Bruce went to before his disappearance.

- A Talon breaks into Wayne Manor, Alfred,Tim and Dick fight it to prevent it from entering the Batcave.

7. Another Chance:

-The Grandmaster Owl unleashes several types of Talons in the city to keep the Batfamily busy while he begins to slowly take back the city.

-Bruce is imprisoned deep within the Labyrinth of Owls and be into a coffin to prevent his escape.

- Batman and Black Bat pay Sliver St.Cloud a visit at home to find Bruce Wayne.

8. Lifeline:

- Red Hood and Robin protect Gordon from being killed by the Head Talon.

-Alfred arrives at the Clock Tower to bring Barbara a piece of tech Bruce had development that could return her to the cape and cowl.

-Spoiler and Nightwing pay Penguin a visit in Blackgate after whispers of his family’s connection to the Court are revealed.

9. Master of Deception:

- Nightwing and Red Hood infiltrate the Gotham Museum of Modern Art to find an entrance to the Labyrinth of Owls.

- Spoiler and Robin enter Gotham Sewers and find a bunker that has been converted into a chamber of Horror for the creation of Talons.

- Cassandra returns from patrol to find a letter from her mother asking her to come to Hong Kong.

10. Old Roots:

- Robin finds out that Sliver’s parents were the old leaders of the Court and wanted to leave it,but someone on the inside knew they two couldn’t keep the Court a secret and had them killed.

- Barbara deuces the hidden location of the Grandmaster Owl after his broadcast to the Batfamily to stop looking for Bruce.

11. Beware of the Talons:

- Talon and Dick have a brutal fight amping the rooftops and his identity is revealed to Dick. And he vows to become nothing like Talon.

-The Batfamily prepares to enter the deepest part of the Labyrinth and they must battle Talons, Soldiers of the Grandmaster, and the later himself to save Bruce.

12. A Dark Dawn:

-Jason beings to take on a missions outside of Gotham with the newly formed Outlaws who helped him collect the information needed to save Bruce,and leaves for Prague. Dick goes back to Bludheaven hopping Kid Flash hasn’t destroyed it first.

-Cassandra feels that she doesn’t know all she needs to know about combat and sets off to find Lady Shiva in Hong Kong. Barbara takes a few days away to go Metropolis to have the prototype nano-chip embedded in her spine with a small chance it won’t work.

-Most of the Court has vanished but many are not going to bow to the Bat and his allies. Sliver St.Cloud takes on the role of Grand Mistress of the newly form Parliament of Owls and vows to kill Bruce Wayne and Batman.

I'm coming back to this series because I'm hitting a reading slump and I find graphic novels help pull me out. I'm going to start with the ending. This volume ends in such an odd place usually when I read I read one then review it before moving on. This time I couldn't I needed to know what came next. I needed answers to the questions that are posed by the ending. Because there are many. Fandemonium picks up a month after The Faust Act and the death of Luci. Laura is still our eyes to the world, still trying to unravel the mysteries around Luci's death. She is hurting and confused and possibly a little in love with the memory of Luci. Laura has a rather patronising nickname that is only half explained, 'Prometheus' (another myth reference).

Very early on she meets a character that we had references to in The Faust Act but never met the stunning Inanna. Inanna is not like the others that we've met, he's more trusting and sweet, a bit of a mix between Amaterasu and Minerva. Inanna looks fantastic, his whole deal is wonderful and he's a gender-bend of his original form. His gift is divination, I quite like the way his magic is presented in a pinky/purple sparkle. His outfits are so audacious so becoming of his stage persona which we also get to see. Interestingly Inanna recognises Laura from before, before his godhood, they have a connection and I really like their dynamic. Inanna introduces Laura and the reader to the 11th god, Dionysus. Dionysus I really like. His eyes are pitch black and he seemingly has a laurel crown tattooed on his head. His whole style is much more relaxed than all the others, pressed pants and a yolo tee, fully suiting his mythological duties. I really like how he treats Laura. He honours her, allows her to experience his environment within her limits and helps her when she's done. As a side note... Minerva has one of the cutest nicknames from Baal, Baal who is particularly of her, he calls her Mini. She's so small and young, you have to remember reading this that Mini is only 12 and will be dead before she is 15.

I do want to comment on the art for a second. There is so much effort put into the speech bubbles. Woden's speech bubbles have always suited his presentation, that Tron like appearance with greens matches his bubbles. But the same effort is shown clearly in Dionysus and Inanna's. Dionysus runs a rave (like all the time) his is a black background with fluoro pink and white writing. Inanna's is fully complementary to his standard outfit, a dark almost lavender background with white writing. Both the bubble styles suit the characters. Dionysus comes across as a bit perpetually wired and Inanna is one of the calmer of the 12. On Dionysus and that rave... that is such well-done artwork there. All mad electro colours and sharp cuts. We see it through Laura's eyes but all the major players' bar a few are there. We see people interacting on different levels. I just appreciate the different style for what is a very out-there moment, especially for our main character.

By the end of Fandemonium, we've met all 12 of the gods on the wheel. As the gods die or as their situations change their icons change, death turns them into a skull. Going clockwise around the wheel.

Amaterasu — Japan goddess of the sun and the universe; the mythical ancestress of the Imperial House of Japan

Lucifer — Christianty the devil, a fallen angel.

Sakhmet (aka Sekhmet) — Egyptian a warrior goddess as well as goddess of healing

Baphomet — a god worshipped by the Knights Templar. He's a bit of a black sheep as a deity, yes it means something, yes, his existence in the Pantheon is eventually explained.

Minerva — Roman goddess of poetry, medicine, strategic warfare, commerce, weaving, the crafts, wisdom, courage, inspiration, victory, war, law, civilization, bravery, heroism, protection, city state, family, justice, mathematics, science, technology, strength, strategy, the arts, and skill

Woden (aka Odin) — Norse god of wisdom, poetry, death, divination, and magic

Morrigan — Celtic goddess of death and battle. A trio of sisters who appeared as a crow, she was the keeper of fate and purveyor of prophecy.

Dionysus — Greek god of the vine, grape-harvest, wine-making, wine, fertility, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, theatre

Inanna (aka Ishtar) — Mesopotamian goddess of sex, love, war, justice, and political power.

Tara — Hinduism and Buddism goddesses representing the fundamental female aspect of the universe, which gives birth to warmth, compassion and relief from bad karma as experienced by ordinary beings in cyclic existence (samsara).

Baal — Canaanite god of fertility, weather, rain, wind, lightning, seasons, war, sailors

Urðr — Norse one of the Nord the goddesses responsible for shaping the course of human destinies. The three Norns represent the past (Urðr), future (Skuld) and present (Verðandi). And lastly not part of the wheel but important...

Ananke — the Greek personification of inevitability, compulsion and necessity

Will and the car on fire (theories)

*this is just under the assumption this is Will in the pic and not some other character. Which is still very possible .

Why it could be Will (it's for sure possibly not)

But, most of the rebuttals saying it's not Will are iffy. Cause we really don't have much evidence to point to any 1 character. Like the hair counterargument: that the hair is too long to be Will's .Will's s4 body double has a similar hair tuff on the back of his neck. And we know st uses camera shots of the back of Will's neck/silouette ,in past seasons . So doing so here could make sense. And Will of course is the most associated with fire: using fireball for Will the wise in s1 (3 times), the will the wise drawing from s2 had flames on his cloak, Will being being burned in s2,etc.

So...Will looking at lightning. And (Will?) looking at fire. Both have a dark full body sillhouete and red in the forefront .

We also see this character is possibly wearing a watch like Will?

And i've been hearing this a lot here ... but southern california (where the Byers are) does have a lot of trees lol. Not sure why people think otherwise.But, regardless a trip from cali to Hawkins would most certainly have some forrest.

*Also, any movies I’ll be mentioning (in the theories , below) were stated to be inspiration for ST.

So theories...

Theory 1) It's Joyce's car ( and it was rigged to explode/look like an accident by Brenner or Lonnie). And Will wasn't there but sees it in a nightmare cause it's already happened/or it's a dream vision of the future.

Evidence: CAR TROUBLES: Joyce’s car model was infamous for exploding in car accidents-being sued by the state of Indianna before the start of the series. We also have Alexi tell murray about a way to cause cars to explode-and turn people into dust (and make it look like an accident). Brenner’s name means “to burn” and he already hurt 1 mother to keep a subject -so not out of the realm of possibilities for him to hurt Joyce (and make it look like an accident to try and get Will and or el).

In s3, we have Jonathan and Hopper try and fix the car-and after this cars explode with people inside. Jonathan lifts the car hood- and notices someone rigged nancy’s car . Than, right after,Billy’s car lights on fire with him inside. With Hopper (he also lifts the car hood) and joyce barely escapes the lit car (but she may not be so lucky next time).

We also have Joyce tell Will 3x she’s going to be ok... which is a bit overkill if she will be OK ...

And, notice during the hoodlift we see Will observing- which is similar to Alexi watching and warning them before hand that the car (with Joyce inside) will explode. So it’s possible foreshadowing since Will may predict the future and was was paralleled to Alexi.Alexi ‘can we watch lonnie toons now?. Will : can we play d&d now?

movie inspos:

It’s hinted s4 will be around Will’s b day: In gilbert grape- Arnie after his b day, has his mom die, and a fire was stagged that lit his mom on fire. ( Before this,Arnie was also raised by his older brother Gilbert cause his dad wasn’t around). stoker- kid’s parent dies in staged car ‘accident’ on her bday (this allows ab*sive relative closer to kid-since dead parent banned him from seeing kid). The kid was taught how to hunt, by dad. And is also a painter and bullied at school (like Will). what dreams may come-painter blames themselves for fam dying in freak car accident- the relative was getting a present for them when it happened. so they blame themselves. The descent- also had (right before a b day, the main character’s fam dying in a car accident) .And the sole survivor/family member of the deceased hallucinates a shadow chasing her in a empty hospital hall. Get out-photographer (jonathan)blames himself for mother dying in car accident.

There’s also a lot of other films where the kid (for no logical reason) blames themselves for their mom’s/parent’s death: goodson, dream catcher, analyse this,etc. Of course ... this could simply relate to max and el having survivors guilt after the mall killed their family members (in a fake ‘mall fire’). However, a fake out fire causing family to die (in s3) could be foreshadowing for it actually happening in s4?

rigged car explosions: scarface -have guys try and bomb a car with kids and parent inside. backdraft -guy raised by older brother had 1 parent die in explosion and sees the freak explosion occur- later in the film someone rigs a car to explode and masks it as a freak car accident. Same thing occurs in godfather- he sees family member die in rigged car explosion. The dark knight- rigs car to explode. batman v superman- calls superman a demon and says they need to burn the witch that bore him (aka his mom).

dreams (if in the past): Never ending story (reffed in s3)- starts with kid with bowl cut saying he had another dream about his mother who died. Peanut butter solution- kid has visions in dreams about people he knew who died in fire. this next movie (emily rose) is said to be Joyce byers inspo according to Winona - has (kid with 2 personalities) have nightmares from the past of her and her mother burning in a car fire. while screaming/sleep walking she burns windows with her hands -accidentally using her powers. Some people suspect the videogame “life is strange’ is show inspo too- it has character named max caufield with a ‘never maxine rule’, etc. Anyways in the game prequel queer chloe, who plays d&d, would have dreams/nightmares of her nice parent’s car accident . Despite , chloe not being present for the car accident. After the parent’s death, she’s stuck with her mean step dad.

dreams (if predicting the future): Will says in s3 Will the wise can see into the future. We also see Will/Will the wise via a dream predict Hopper was in danger-saying to Joyce “he’s going to die”. In ‘12 monkeys’ and ‘Rebel Robin st novel’ they mention the myth of cassandra- who could make accurate future prophecies , but was cursed to never be believed by those she warned. In 12 monkeys- he tries warning others of a dreaded event in future- and it’s dismissed as him being mentally ill. Since, Will’s other abilities were dismissed as his ptsd in s2-and with the Byers fam having a family history of mental illness (they may not believe him over such a prediction). In ‘the ring’-the movie opens with the guardian saying the boy is drawing the car accident that killed his mom -as a psychological coping mechanism. Only for the teacher to say he made that drawing before his mother’s death (and it’s revealed later the boy is psychic). Terminator 2- sarah conner says she is having future visions, which include explosions, and everyone dismisses it as her being schizophrenic. Like how in s2 a scientist said about Will “let’s see if this boy is a wizard or a schizo”.

If joyce survives the accident she may be hospitlized (and unable to have legal custody). In black swan the girl (with 2 personas) -blames herself for what happened to Winona Ryder’s character (who is in a coma after a car accident. They had had a verbal fight before the accident). In girl with the dragon tattoo- the main character (who is compared to a phoenix and dragon) has 1 parent burned in a fire- and after this her kind guardian is hospitilized so they can no longer take care of her- and she is placed with an ab*sive foster dad (who resembles her bio dad). If Joyce was in a coma - it would further parallel her to terry- and be another willel parallel.

if dead: Tokyodrift- mom loses custody, and dad who is a mechanic and abandoned the family years ago, later gets custody. Super 8-mom dies in freak accident- douche dad gets custody. Book of henry-mom dies pre-film, ab*sive dad got custody. Outsiders- parents die in car wreck, relative gets custody of teen who he slaps etc.In black swan-girl who blames herself for Winona’s accident is stuck living with ab*sive parent. good son- mom dies, stuck with violent and manipulative relative after this.

Of course-joyce may be fine. And Lonnie may just visit for Will’s b-day and ruin shit that way.

Theory 2) It's an undercover government car that Will uses his powers against in self defense... or in anger after they hurt someone he loves.

Evidence:

Joyce about ‘Will the wise’: If he’s so wise, why does he need the fireballs? Why can’t he just outsmart the bad guys? Will: cause the bad guys are smart too. Joyce: so he needs the fireballs? Will: Yeah, to burn them to a crisp.

* the fact-this flashback happens at a funeral of a Byers, could also be narratively significant as foreshadowing.

Gov agents in s1 are called “the bad-men” so Will may use fireball on “the bad-guys”(government agents) . Fire has been used on all the other adversaries relating to the upsidedown-so why not the gov agents (aka human villains) next? 2 movies on the inspo list caught my attention: firestarter & carrie (which are both stephen king adaptions with psychic kids who have fire abilities).

Firestarter- she has pyrokineseis (firepowers) . And unlike every other psychic in the film- she is the only psychic that doesn't get nose bleeds (aka mini brain hemorages) from using her powers (Will). We know el and kali gets nose bleeds.

(Anger): She only unleashes her fire abilities on gov agents after they kill her parent...

*And uses a literal “fireball” on them.

Could also be another willel parallel. kali about the US gov:" They took your mother away from you!" El str*ngles man from gov agency that incapacitated her mom . El before str*ngling him: " you hurt mama".

(self defense): While in carrie she kills people who tried to run her over with a car. And causes the car to explode.

Also, in s3 Steve does technically cause a car to explode to protect Nancy from being run over by a car (so maybe foreshadowing?). I believe, tumblr user ‘bran-who-writes-theoretically” was the first to point out the Carrie/car on fire parallel.

* This car scene could also be added to the list of Willel parallels. El in s1 uses her powers to flip a government-car upside down. And looks back at it. And it’s a ref to the film Et. So Will causing a government -car to explode and flip upsidedown (referencing carrie) could be a parallel.

Of course El flipped over a car in s3 to attack the Soviet agents and protect her friends too ( right before losing her powers). Sort of like Steve using his car as a weapon in s3 to protect his friends. so who knows, if not Will, maybe El (wearing a ponytail) got her telekenesis back and she flips the car and it explodes ? To be honest, I just find this explanation too boring, cliche, and predictable. And I still hypothosize the mindflayer took her telekensis (but not her other powers). Since in d&d mindflayers have ‘mage hand’ (what el is called) and ‘telekenesis’/ along with the ability to steal powers from other life forms. But, we’ll see...

Theory 3) The car flips (maybe caused by a deer jumping in the road) and it blows up after the crash- with Joyce inside. And maybe Jonathan survives it/ Will wasn’t there but had a nightmare /vision about it?

Evidence: in s1 Jonathan sees a dead deer that was hit by a car. This could be symbolic : because it related to Jonathan mentioning the hunting story with his dad and how he cried for a week cause he liked the film Bambi. Which in the film : Bambi (a deer) has his mother k*lled. And after his mother’s death, he’s taken in by his douchey dad who was M.I.A for most of his life ,until his mom passed away. And the hunters are the bad guys in the film . In ‘get out’ the photographer , Chris,blames himself for his mother dying in a car accident - and he sees a dead deer hit by a car -and the dying deer was used to symbolize the guilt he has over his mother’s death. in ‘the long kiss goodnight’ a character is driving home with a friend- they swerve and hit a deer and 1 of them is ejected from the car into the forrest. But their friend is unconscious in the car and it quickly explodes on the road. The survivor turns and sees the car in flames- disoriented they stumble and kill the dying deer. And it’s left ambiguous if they were helping the deer end it’s pain or if it was vengeful-hunting (since it caused the car accident that killed their friend). Cause their face was emotionless from shock.

Even in the st novel "suspicious minds' rabbits- like jonathan was forced to kill on the hunting trip with his dad (around his b-day) represented the bond between mother and child.And the mother sacrificing herself for the baby-to not get k*lled (by Brenner).

-so maybe?? jonathan before he gets the pizza job/car (may have his car break down , like hinted it would in s3).

So him and Joyce share the car (once his car stops working) and the accident happens while Jonathan is behind the wheel -with Joyce. And after this he gets the job at surfer boy pizza. Billy was a surfer boy and that memory was used to think about his mother who is no longer around (once he's stuck with his ab*sive dad after moving away from Cali). While Jonathan moved to Cali after his mom passed-maybe stuck with Lonnie.Jonathan's actor in recent pics has a blonde mullet - which sort of resembles joyce/Billy's og hair. This may be why he starts doing dr*gs - which is pretty out of character for him- but it could be a coping mechanism(like in the s4 films). One of many examples was 'enter the void'- the older brother was surrogate parent to their lil sibling and after a car accident k*lls his parents , he starts doing dr*gs to cope. Also ‘hunger games’ was on the list- and Katniss (who was a surrogate parent to her litle sibling, like Jonathan is to Will) in the sequel, saw her family die in an explosion. And it really broke her emotionally.

I've mentioned this before but Billy is used to parallel and foil Will and Jonathan. And it may be more than a ... what if Lonnie had custody scenario. But to show how Lonnie (like most ab*sers) will later bring out the worst in the kids (once he does have custody). Like how s3 has Will mimick lonnie with the baseball bat (and we see in s3 Billy being bullied by his dad to play baseball and flashbacks showing him mimicking Neil). I've also discussed how there's a theme with pretty much every character mimicking their parent- for better or worse.

Killing a deer would certainly hint at Jonathan's possible character regression (and mimicking Lonnie to a certain extent). if he not only blames himself for Joyce's death. But is also stuck with his ab*ser.

The animal k*lling motif , and after that, mimicking an a b*sive father is already shown with el. Brenner , in s1,tried to make her k*ll a cat (using her powers) and she refused (similar to the s1 rabbit hunting story of Lonnie forcing Jonathan to k*ll a rabbit ). But in s2, she uses her powers to k*ll a squirrel (and like a deer- it's typical hunting game). Than in s3 el does literally everything Brenner ever asked of her- she spies on people and repeats the words back (like brenner told her to do), she becomes a weapon to ‘fight the commies’ (which was said to be the reason he k*dnapped her in the first place), and when looking into the void to see the mf (she mirrors the words brenner told her - when he made her go into the void to face the demogorgan).

And some s4 movies are literally about being trapped in a house with your ab*ser and slowly losing your mind because of the ab*se and gaslighting- lighthouse , black swan , good son, are prime examples. But movies like scar face , girl with the dragon tattoo, and book of Henry touch on this theme a bit as well. And ordinary people- is about a guy who survived a vehicular accident but his relative in the same accident didn't- and it causes him alot of issues /survivor's guilt.

The shadowy figure could just be Will in the shot - seeing it in a dream before or after it happens?

Theory 4) Will sees a future vision or has his ’now memories’ of someone else's car.

Evidence: i guess the s4 shot parallels El (in s3) spying on Billy while he’s hurting Heather. During that spying scene: the shot is of El near Billy's car. So it’s possibly a diff willel parallel?

If not Will. Who knows ...if El’s telekenesis is gone maybe her spying abilities strengthened and look different because of it (and now she can see background details)?

Theory 5) it's Lonnie's car and Will escapes from the trunk and uses his powers in self defense

Evidence: I’m pretty iffy on this one. This goes back to how people suspected Lonnie took Will in s1 (and could be foreshadowing). Even the recent rebel robin book-has characters say Lonnie probably took Will. Jonathan suspected Will may be at Lonnie’s - so checks Lonnie’s car trunk (to see if Will is there). We also see how the mf in s3, knocked people out by dr*gs/str*ngulation, ties them up, and throws them in a trunk (to k*dnap them). Or how the cops raided jonathan’s trunk- which had stuff to track the demogorgan (and the demogorgan parallels Lonnie) . And after looking in Jonathan’s trunk-they suspected something fishy is going on.

*heather was described as “another me” by Will- who was thrown in the trunk.

movies: “tangled” was on the s4 list- and had an ab*sive parent later try and kidnap their kid ,and that parent ends up dying. in girl with the dragon tattoo (the girl associated with dragons & phoenixes- lights her ab*sive bio dad on fire. In ‘drop dead fred’ (girl who is in love with childhood friend, named Mikey, who she met at age 5) lights a imaginary version of her ab*sive parent on fire - while in a trippy memory world. Chrissy accidentally lights her ab*sive relative (nickname “daddy”) on fire in self defense- in a trippy hell memory scape. in ‘long kiss goodnight- the girl with 2 personalities (Will/will the wise) was kidnapped and put in a trunk and escapes by jumping into a quarry. Not sure if that could relate to a flashback or something else? like in ‘don’t breath’ the older sibling who essentially was a surrogate parent to the younger sibling-mentions how their dad left the family, and her parent would throw her in the trunk for hours as a punishment.
