I think the Knight of Dawn being "a coward who is unable to stand up for what is right and does as he's ordered to" and "someone who cares deeply about his family and did everything he could so that Silver could live a happy and normal life in the future" are two statements that can coexist.

#And Lilia knows this too which is huge #I love the complexities brought up in this chapter #I love how it really weighs in on Lilia's desire for world peace because war turns normally compassionate people do to terrible things #and no one wins when babies are orphaned #I love how far an act of kindness can go too #The Knight warned Lilia about Henrick's plan to kidnap the egg and gave Lilia an opening to escape #and 400 years later Lilia rescued Silver from his blessing turned curse and raised him and loved him the way his parents would've wanted #I love this fairytale #and the Knight is in the wrong but its kind of sad to see him being reduced down to his worst action #He's a tragedy but there's more to a person than just who they are at their worst #I'm gonna lose my mind when part 5 comes over here im sorry for what I become #twst #twst chapter 7 #twst spoilers #twisted wonderland #twst silver #twst knight of dawn

Candela Obscura: Needle & Thread is about, if it is about anything, parent-child relationships and the desperate desire for a closeness in the face of a yawning chasm of separation, physical, emotional, or both.

Sean and Margaret, the creature and mother, Nathaniel and his father, Jean and hers, Allison and Lucas. Even Beatrix and the child she never had, transferred onto Sean. (Marion is the only major character who does not fit neatly and completely into this pattern, despite the brief look at his relationship with his father.)

That desire for closeness—even when there is immense strain in the relationship, even when that desire has been suppressed into more of an involuntary instinct—escalates over the chapter until incredible violence is being committed in an effort to reduce these distances.

These parent-child relationships are even weaponized repeatedly in the finale. Sean takes the deal to save his mother. The person in the cage observes that Nathaniel's father never liked him as a device to rattle him and his father's face is worn to force him to hesitate. Violet lashes out at Jean before she dies by telling her that her father was happy when she told him that Jean was no longer going to visit.

There is so much longing for a parent or a child in this chapter. Sean wants to be with his mother again, and Margaret wants her sons. Nathaniel craves his father's love, and in the end, his father reaches for him. Jean grieves for her father. The creature wants to be with their mother, and their mother is distraught when her child is killed. Beatrix is wistful for the child she did not have. Much of Lucas's screentime is devoted to missing his mother, and Allison misses her son terribly.

There is also much to be said about sibling relationships here: Sean and his brothers, Nathaniel and his, the creature and their sister. Sibling dynamics inform the relationship between Sean and Marion, and Sean and Nathaniel. That's not the focus of this post, though.

I believe that it is specifically this web of parents-children and the various distances in their relationships that really is the core of the chapter. This is about a desperately intense, even violent, desire for a closeness in those relationships and the willingness to do basically anything to overcome the distances.

man I was ready to be happy just to see Melody for one panel, but there was So Much in this chapter 🥺 feels like we're getting to see some new facets of her personality (see: Old Maid Melody lmaoo) and it's so fun

it was nice to see her and Kacho getting to interact a bit more openly - for some reason I was expecting nen-Kacho to be more of a separate entity, rather than the "brought back to life" kind of deal where she basically feels and acts like she's the same person? I like it though, I want to see her messing with Melody some more lol

I was wondering if Kurapika's goal might come up re: the fourth prince's invitation, but it seems like the immediate concern with Fugetsu takes priority, which makes sense Zhang Lei also wanting a private audience is interesting, I wonder if that could give her and Kurapika an opportunity to meet up and plan things out before she visits terrorsandwich? Before all that, though, they'd have to deal with Benjamin (assuming it's a first-rank-first-served kind of deal), no idea how that's gonna work out unless they actually pull off the Just Murder Everyone plan

also lmaooo the love confession 😂 one the one hand I feel like all her initial suspicion and mistrust towards glasses guy has to be a setup for him to actually be more honest than she expects, but I still can't help being a bit skeptical of him... both because there has to be something going on with the heartbeat thing, right?

and also, even if it is probably what's most practical for the situation, I'm not toootally sure if I love this "stop being sad and go use your powers to help us do murders" thing lol (granted kacho was very on board with both of those, too, but. idk man, maybe at least try to comfort her a little or something? xD)

The Death Of All Might?

She's so cute.

Chapter 400 was amazing,obviously.

But,I've seen a lot of people saying they think All Might's going to die,and there's just one problem with that:

All Might is growing too.

At the start of the series he gave a fourteen year old child the weight of the WORLD and didn't seem to even realize he did it. But,when he does,he feels bad,and wants to be there to help Izuku; because he let him do it alone for so long.

All Might SUCKED at teaching. He only made Bakugo's inferiority complex worse when he tried to help,he again,gave Izuku God powers and inspired him to hurt himself over and over again.All Might needs too atone as well.

When Izuku thinks about controlling his heart he thinks about All Might,the person who he looked up to and so desperately wants to be like. Izuku's image of a hero is still All Might's self sacrificial mindset. Izuku's at war with what he wants and being like his image.

Izuku is selfless until it comes to Kacchan. He feels that he can't be like All Might,the best hero ever,if he doesn't control his heart. All Might drilled this into his head and he needs to be the one to talk to Izuku about it. Katsuki already has,he said and apologized for what he did,but what Izuku needs to hear is his hero tell him:

"You are not a vessel,you are a human with human feelings."

Just like he needed his hero to tell him he could be a hero too.

And Stain being there,someone who believes in All Might,it feels like we might get some talks about Heroism between Izuku and All Might.

I dunno,if Horikoshi did decide to kill All Might off (which I don't think he will) he'd write it right. So,either way I'm sure Hori will blow us away.

I'm willing to bet we'll see Bakugone's corpse in chapter 406.

Can All Might kill All for One? AKA a small headcanon that's been stuck in my brain for ages now (with spoilers including ch 400).

First all, I submit to you that All Might has never killed anyone. Oh sure, he thought he did, about six years ago. And most likely beat himself up about that (among other things) until the Nomu showed up at USJ. Not guilt over destroying AfO specifically but anguish over thinking he had taken a life. How many times did he force a smile in those years and think about how dangerous he, his hands, his powers were. That he wasn't safe around others, corrupted even, and that just gave him another reason to distance himself from others.

If they knew what I had done, even knowing it was protect them, they'd no longer smile. They'd fear me.

Antithetical to what the Symbol of Peace is supposed to stand for. And that's a huge part of why he never let that fight be publicly known.

And now here we are at the final fight.

Being broadcast everywhere worldwide. The world knows All Might. Only a fraction of the world knows "that skinny man fighting in the far-off country." So if it's a matter of reputation, Toshinori has an advantage.

But it may not be about keeping the image of All Might intact.

It almost feels like Toshinori is praying Rewind will remove AfO for him but now that Stain has AfO pinned down, it's no longer that simple.

And you know AfO is going to use this last gambit to his advantage. "Can you do it? Can you murder me while the whole world looks on? What will they think of you then? What will Izuku think of you??"

Because doing so would be Toshinori's final sacrifice of self (that and not the sacrifice of dying himself) to keep everyone safe. A terrible burden. One last small victory for AfO as he forever leaves Toshinori stained.

Except.

Toshinori's bloodied smile. "I've made myself miserable for years thinking I had. So I've had practice. And this time around, I've got help and support. I think I'll be ok. Unlike you."

And he will follow through because it has to be him. Poetically, All Might needs to avenge his master's death. And Toshinori will do it because he can't let his kid dirty his own scarred hands. The burden ends here.

And he knows that they'll all understand why.
