#i have had to deal with some 🅱️ULLSHIT today lemme tell you #first they redirected our return flight down to fuckin atlanta for seemingly no reason #the original was gonna be from spokane to chicago with a stop in minneapolis-st. paul but that one got cancelled i guess #but TODAY. literally 12 hours before our flight out of chicago was supposed to take off. i got an email saying they cancelled it #which of course made me Fucking Panic bc i can NOT afford to book a whole new flight on such short notice #but i NEEDED to be there this weekend. like im con staff they need me out there #luckily i was able to change to a flight out of ohare but. our return flight is still going to midway & they didnt let me change that one #so now we gotta take the L train ALLLLL the way to the Other Airport just to get back to our car #anyways long story short fuck delta all my homies hate delta #i swear if they try to pull some fuck shit with our return flight i will Maim and Bite #ace screams into the void #vent//

“I wish meds worked.” Her voice is tinged with resignation. She doesn’t deserve that. She deserves to sleep easily.

“I wish it worked too.” She smiles a little. “I…I’ll let you try to sleep. I should unpack a bit.” I stand, grabbing my bags again. She opens her eyes, standing up again.

“Do you need help? That looks heavy.”

“I’m fine.” See, Dirian? I don’t have a crush on her. If I did, I’d be stuttering and fumbling over my words, I’d be blushing like crazy, I would be staring at her, all the stupid things that happen to me when I fall for someone. I don’t have a crush on her, and it’s ridiculous that anyone would suggest that. She’s my friend, first off, and I do not want to lose her friendship. Second, I live with her! If I liked her, that would make this all the more complicated. Yeah, she’s pretty, but lots of people are, and I don’t have crushes on them. I list off a dozen more reasons in my head, trying to ignore my thundering heart as I return to my room. I move down the hallway, stopping at my door to look back at her, expecting her to be at her door. She’s right beside me, and moving closer. “Uhm.” I blush, looking up at her. She smiles softly.

“Hey.” I pause with my hand on the doorknob. “You okay?” She approaches me, touching my arm. It doesn’t mean anything that my stomach flips, I don’t like her that way. I nod.

“Fine.”

“You’re sure?” It’s not the sound of her voice that’s making my hair stand on end, it’s not the closeness of her body that’s making me sweat. It can’t be. I can’t like her like that, it would mess up every plan I have, mess up what we have. I look up at her, nodding again with a small smile. “Well. I didn’t want to say this when Z was around, you know how she can be with vulnerability, but-” She pulls me into a hug.

Shit.

Fuck.

“-I missed you.”

I hate to admit it, but Dirian is right.

I want her.

She lets me go, laughing a bit. “I suppose I’m used to you always being just down the hall, so a couple days without that got me sappy.” She looks away, hands trailing down my arms, sending shivers up my spine until they leave my skin. “Or I’m going to get my period next week, but probably not.” She nudges me. “Night, dandelion.” I don’t even manage to say goodnight to her, wish her well, anything. She walks back to her room, closing the door behind her. I stare at it for a moment, heart hammering around my ribs. I back into my room, dropping my luggage on the floor before dropping my body on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

Then I roll over and whisper-scream into my pillow.
