Friday flex & deadlifts 👉🏻. . Slowly getting my strength back and it feels good. Last Friday I moved 365 lbs and felt like I had more in me. Today as I was ramping up things were feeling good so I got a little cocky and tried 410 lbs (405 lbs is my personal best)... NOPE! 😄 I took it down to 385 and was successful, though. So I will happily take that. I did manage a set at 275 lbs that was a personal best for me, though. . It's looking like it will take me about another 3-4 weeks (or more) to undo the losses from the gym closure on my compound lifts. But it is also possible that I'm just being optimistic. Interestingly, my shoulder, biceps and triceps exercises are hitting new PRs. . Biceps curls and triceps kickbacks are great and all, but they should by no means be the main focus of your workout. Performing 5 different types of curls on arm day is less than ideal, especially from a functional standpoint. - Performing compound lifts allows for the most muscle group engagement, allowing you to overload your body with quite the load and to hit multiple muscles with one movement. This allows for a great deal of mechanical tension, one of three ways a muscle can grow and arguably the most important. - Another thing that is important with compounds is the high hormonal output as a result of performing the movement under a great load, putting your body in quite an anabolic environment.
