I am sure that I suffered minor injuries in my twenties, but I honestly cannot remember a single one. Then one day I screwed up my shoulder in the gym. I was 31 years old. I could not lift heavy for several weeks, so I decided to try a yoga class at the gym. My first class was with @rona_graceblu. In hindsight, I am extremely fortunate to have started yoga with Rona. Her classes were accessible, challenging, and fun. Her instructions were very clear and made sense to me. I loved her classes. When Rona quit teaching at the gym and shifted her classes to a local yoga studio, I followed her. I practiced with her for a long time. I don’t believe that she teaches yoga today. She is busy with family, travels, and her business (@graceblu). But I will never forget Rona. I am so grateful for her teaching, which inspired a lifetime of practice and eventually teaching for me too. . It would have been nice to start doing yoga in my twenties or even earlier. But I really don’t think I was ready for it. In my twenties, my body could recover from just about anything and everything that I put it through. I didn’t have a ton of stress. I didn’t worry about the future. Although I would have benefitted from the practice, I didn’t think I needed yoga. It seemed unnecessary at the time. Now I know better but I have no regrets. I am glad I started when I did. Today, yoga is very important for my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I need it. I love it. I love practicing and teaching yoga. I plan to do both for a very long time. After all, I really just started doing yoga. That first class with Rona was only 18 years ago! . Thanks to @supermomtraci and @renee_xtina for the tag. Sensory deprivation training pt 5. Revisiting the jump rope. . Two things on my mind 1. I believe you can have beauty and brains. You gotta have some type of brain to build that type of body. . 2. I believe people are looking at the R.O.M and overlooking muscle activation. I believe as long as you active the muscle than the range of motion does not matter. Unless you are specifically training for a sport or hobby where it would be awesome to have that mobility. And it could be very useful to have full R.O.M when you are older. . Set up a forward fold, with the feet slightly wider than hip width apart 2. Come up on the tiptoes of the right foot, & hook the leg over your right shoulder. Get your leg as high up the arm as you can 3. Take the right hand BEHIND the right foot & place the fingertips on the mat. Extend the left arm out to the side, in FRONT of the left leg, so the arm is straight, & the fingertips are ahead of the line of your toes 4. Pick the left foot up, & bring it towards your right hip 5. Use the right hand to grab hold of the left foot... Make sure the right leg, is still connected to the right shoulder 6. To come into the full pose; straighten the standing leg fully & reach out with the left arm, keeping it engaged. Cues.👇🏽 Press into the ground with the hands and toes. Grow long through the crown of the head. Externally rotate fully extend the arms and squeeze them together. Extend the legs long as well as the hips. Get the hips in line with the shoulders and tilt your pelvis backwards. . Do this as a warmup, workout, or post workout. Don't have socks? Use some sliders.
