Calling For You | R.B.

Your youngest daughter wakes up and immediately wants her dad — dad!regulus x mom!reader fluff
warnings: none :)
words: 0.4k
Tumblr media
You gently nudged your elbow into Regulus’ chest to wake him up. He hummed quickly with his eyes still closed, trying to ask why you woke him up even though words weren’t forming yet.
“Ascella’s up; She wants you.” You mumbled, wanting to stay asleep as well.
Your previous words were proven right when Ascella’s high-pitched cry for her father tore through the hallway.
Regulus shook his head. “No, I definitely heard ‘mama’.”
She definitely said ‘dada’. Just over a year old and she was already a daddy’s girl.
He was up late reading to her last night. Every time he finished a story and put her down in her crib, she would become more awake than ever. You understood that Regulus was tired, but you also knew your little Ascella wanted her dad.
“Reg, you know she’s not going to be happy if I go in there instead of you.” You tried again.
“Yes she will, she’s a happy baby.”
Just when you were about to get up and attempt to calm her down anyways, the sound of your door opening and a small fist pounding against the wood filled the room and interrupted your action.
“Dad, Ascella’s calling for you. She’s so loud even though she’s so little.” You looked at Perseus covering his ears as he said the last part and his little gesture made you smile.
You turned your head to your husband. “I told you she wants you.”
Regulus let out a groan as he stood up. “Alright, I’ll go to her.” He trudged across the room, patting your son on the back as he was too tired for a good morning hug.
The little boy ran to you as soon as his dad left the room, and he took Regulus’ place beside you. Even though you knew you would have to get up soon, a good cuddle was impossible to resist.
You pulled Perseus into your arms and pressed a kiss to the hair he had inherited from his dad’s side of the family. “I’m so glad you don’t wake us up like that anymore.”

“One day you’ll pay me back.”
That was what he always said and it always got a huff and an eye roll out of the pretty girl sitting in front of him.
“Well I hope that day is coming up soon.”
“Me too.”
~~~
“I’ll get it.”
They were only sixteen and it was their first date at Madam Puddifoot's.
“No, don’t be silly.” They were in front of the counter and she was desperately trying to get the right change out of her purse before Regulus could give his coins to the staff.
But he had already organised them beforehand, his mother had raised him to be a gentleman and he was not letting the girl he had been crushing on since their second year pay.
He politely thanked the worker and watched her huff and put the coins back in her purse so she could follow him outside.
“I really appreciate it Regulus, but you didn’t have to.”
It was snowing so she put her beanie back on and wrapped her scarf tightly around her neck.
“I wanted to.”
“Well is there something else I can buy for you? Something from Honeydukes or-”
“Don’t worry about it.”
They were trudging along in the snow, not too sure of the destination but not worried about it considering they were with the other.
“Well I’ll pay next time.”
With his hands buried in his jacket’s pockets he turned to her, a bright smile taking up his face.
“So there’s going to be a next time?”
She turned away from him and looked at the ground.
“I mean, I have to make it up to you somehow,” she shrugged as if it wasn’t a big deal.
He let out a small chuckle and replied, “I can’t wait.”
But then their next Hogsmeade trip came around and this time they went to the Three Broomsticks.
But before the left, Regulus beat her to the counter once again and paid for their meal.
“Regulus,” she whined. He mimicked her tone back. “I said I was going to pay.”
“Guess you’ll just have to go on another date with me and pay for that one.”
“Deal.”
They were out of Hogwarts now and there hadn’t been one date that she had paid for. And Regulus never let her repay him.
“Just pay for the next one.”
She’d scoff at his words.
“Yeah, that’s likely.”
“Don’t pay me back now, I promise you can pay for the next one.”
Regulus had never broken a promise he had made to her, but the promise of letting her pay was one that was never met.
He’d pretend to go to the bathroom and pay before she even thought about the bill or he’d already have given the restaurant his credit card before she even arrived. He would do anything, but let her pay for the date.
“My mother would kill me if she found out I let you pay for a date,” he admitted one night. They were eighteen and Regulus had invited her back to Black manor after their meal. He was sitting on the edge of his bed and she had manoeuvred her way in between his legs.
“Well I’m going to kill you if you don’t let me pay for a date,” she whined. Regulus wrapped his arms around her waist and brought her closer to him, burying his face in her abdomen while she played with the tops of his hair.
“Well you better figure out how to hide the body, darling.”
It was shortly after that he started responding with.
“One day you’ll pay me back.”
“What the fuck does that even mean Regulus?” She had replied, faux annoyed by his vague response.
They were out of the restaurant now, ready to go back to hers for a little while before they called it a night.
“You’ll find out.”
She scoffed, but still gave his hand a squeeze before they left the restaurant.
Regulus wasn’t sure how to explain it to her. He had been vulnerable with her like he’d been with no one else, but there was a small desire that he held that he didn’t wish to share with her. It was too personal. It had been a part of him since he was a child and he’d go as far as to say that it had become a part of his soul and he knew one day he would be ready to share it with her, but right now just wasn’t the time.
Regulus wasn’t sure how this desire came to be. He thought it came back to his parents. Every Monday his father would come home with flowers for his mother and each time his mother blushed and giggled as if this was the first time he had ever bought her flowers.
Some days, his father would come home with a shiny new piece of jewellery and he’d watch his father put it on his gushing mother and press a soft kiss to whatever skin was free next to the new diamonds adorning her body.
As he got older he realised that his mother had little to stress about. Sure, she dealt with him and Sirius and that was no easy task, but it was his father who stayed up late in his office dealing with some bill or some renovation that needed to be fixed. His mother lived a life of leisure and whenever he and Sirius prevented her from living that life, his father would save her with a massage or a weekend away or s shopping spree or whatever it was her heart desired.
And their marriage was filled with nothing but love, respect, and joy and Regulus realised that was what he wanted.
Sure, it was a little old fashioned and if he found someone he loved who didn’t want to live a life like that, he’d easily compromise, but he wanted what his parents had.
He wanted a big house for his lovely wife and his two children (a boy and a girl, but he knew he couldn’t pick that) and he wanted to come home from work with her favourite flowers and watch her hum as she organised them in a vase. He wanted every single one of her desires to come to fruition no matter how small or how frivolous. He wanted to come home and cook for her and surprise her with her favourite cake that he had stopped for on the way home and he never wanted her to worry about a single thing.
When he was sixteen and had taken her to Madam Puddifoots, he could already imagine that life with her. Sure, he was getting a little ahead of himself, but that was what he wanted.
When he had written home to his parents about his new girlfriend they had sent him a few extra galleons ‘for your next date xx’ they had written.
“I hope you haven’t made her pay.” Was the first thing his parents said when he got back home and told them all about it.
And then as they got older and he got a job and he started gaining access to is Black inheritance, he started spoiling her in different ways.
He liked to mix it up. As soon as he learnt her favourite flowers it seemed her room was always filled with a fresh bunch. Sometimes when they went out and he saw her stare at a skirt too long, only to walk away once she looked at the tag, she’d find said skirt in a sparkly bag at their next date. One time, he surprised her with a day trip to Paris where they went to a small bakery where she found her new favourite dessert. A month later Regulus showed up with that exact pastry and a bunch of her favourite flowers.
“How did you get this?” She asked, already stuffing a bite into her mouth. Her mother would have had a heart attack at the action and the icing sugar that coated her upper lip.
“I went to Paris to get it.” He admitted sheepishly.
“You what?” She practically screeched, bringing the pastry down to stare at him. “Regulus,” she whined.
“It was nothing.”
“You’re always spoiling me with things, I want to spoil you back.”
“One day you’ll pay me back.”  She scoffed and rolled her eyes, using the back of her hand to wipe the icing sugar from her mouth.
“Whatever that means.”
It was no question that the Black’s were a little richer than her family and it made her feel insecure that Regulus was always buying things for her. She had a job, just like Regulus and she could afford these things, so one day when she was shopping and she saw a simple ring that reminded her of Regulus, she bought it.
“Darling,” Regulus didn’t sound as happy as she’d hoped, “I really appreciate this, but I don’t want you feeling like you have to buy things for me.”
“Well now you know how I feel,” she fought back.
“It’s different,” he argued.”
“What, because I’m poorer than you?” She folded her arms around her chest and gave him a challenging look. Regulus gave her a look back. She knew that wasn’t what he meant.
“Darling,” his voice had a warning tone to it and she sighed, taking a step closer to him and taking his hands in hers.
“You spoil me so much, I just want to pay you back.”
“One day you’ll pay me back.” She scoffed and rolled her eyes.
“Will I ever find out when that day is?”
“I hope so.” He leant down to press a kiss to her head and the conversation was finished.
It wasn’t until they were twenty and engaged that she was provided some insight into what Regulus’ words meant.
They were out for dinner for Walburga’s birthday and after their very fancy dinner they had gone to get ice-cream, per the birthday girl’s request.
They went back outside to enjoy their cones when all of a sudden, her ice cream had fallen out of her cone.
“Oh no,” she whined, pouting at the splatter right in front of her feet.
“Oh darling,” Walburga said, “what happened.”
“I don’t know,” she shrugged, genuinely not knowing how it happened.
“We’ll go get you another one,” Walburga offered as she stepped over the mess and made her way to Regulus.
“It’s fine,” she shrugged already grabbing a hold of Regulus’ to take a bite out of it.
“Nonsense,” Walburga scoffed, “Regulus,” her tone suddenly got tighter, “go get her another one.”
She barely had time to blink before Regulus was handing her his ice cream so he could go inside and get her another one.
“No, it’s fine, really.” She tried to hold onto Regulus so he wouldn’t go, she didn’t want to make this a big deal, it was truly fine.
“Don’t worry,” Regulus said, getting out of her grasp, “besides, I don’t want you to steal mine.”
She rolled her eyes at him.
“Fine,” she huffed, “I’ll go get it.” She stood up, going to pass the ice cream back to Regulus, but he had already walked back in.
She was about to follow him, ready to have their usual petty disagreement about who was paying, but Walburga gently grabbed onto her wrist.
“Let him pay for it. Birthday girl’s request.”
She couldn’t fight with that logic.
“He spoils me too much,” she admitted.
“He should spoil you more.”
She giggled at Walburga’s words.
“I don’t think I’ve paid for a single thing in our relationship,” she admitted sheepishly.
“Good,” Walburga responded, “I hope you never do.”
“But I want to spoil him like he spoils me.”
“I think, one day you will pay him back. Soon, hopefully.”
She was taken aback by the words and the little wink Walberga sent her way. That was something her son had been telling her for years now.
Thankfully, she didn't have to think of something to reply because Regulus was back with her ice cream in hand, passing it to her with a “Here you go darling,” and a small kiss to her forehead.
It was that night when she was alone in her own room that the words started playing around in her mind. She went back to a conversation they had had before Regulus had even proposed to her.
“Do you want kids?” She had asked.
They were laying outside on a picnic blanket, watching the stars. She was cuddled into his side and he had an arm wrapped around her shoulders.
“Yes,” he responded, barely letting a breath pass before he answered.
“How many?”
“However many you want.” He turned to face her and brought his face an inch closer so the tips of his nose were touching.
“Good answer,” she whispered. They were so close she could almost feel him smile. “But if you had a choice, how many kids?” This time, he debated answering before he opened his mouth.
“Two,” he said finally.
“What if I don’t want any kids?” She did. She had dreamt of having a family since she was a little girl. Sure, it was a little old fashioned and not the most aspirational goal a young girl could have, but that was what she wanted.
Regulus pulled back slightly so he could read her face.
“Do you want kids?”
“Yes,” she whispered and he nodded.
“Good.”
He went back so their noses were slightly smooshed together.
“I’ve always wanted kids,” she admitted.
“Me too.” Regulus shifted so he was on his back and she rested her head on his chest.
“I can’t wait ‘til we have kids,” she admitted. When Regulus didn’t respond straight away she continued. “Do you think I will have paid you back by then?” She teased, referring to the statement Regulus had said less than two hours ago when he had showed up with her favourite flowers.
“Yeah,” Regulus sighed happily, “you will have.”
Once they got married Regulus didn’t know how to say that if she didn’t want to work, she didn’t have to because if he had his way, she’d never have to work another day in her life, but he wasn’t entirely sure that was what she wanted and he didn’t want her to feel pressured to do something she didn’t want to do. If she wanted to work she could work, whatever made her happy made Regulus happy. He just wanted her to know she had the option.
But they were young and a week after their honeymoon, they were dealing with a positive pregnancy test.
“Who is even going to look after the baby?” She exclaimed. Regulus was sitting on the edge of the bathtub and she was sitting on his lap. Sure, this was something they had talked about and had both wanted, but it was still a shock.
“You know,” Regulus started, he didn’t even know how to start this conversation, but now was a better time than ever, “if you hate this option that’s fine, I just want what will make you happy but I just need you to know the options there.” He spoke fast enough that she had stopped freaking out to make sure she didn't miss what he said. “But I make enough to support us both, if you don't want to work, you don’t have to.”
She was silent for a moment so Regulus started rambling again.
“Like I said, I know you enjoy your job and I don’t want you to quit, but work is still work you know and I don’t want you to feel like-”
“Regulus,” she cut him off.
“Yeah.”
“It’s fine.”
“Okay.”
They sat in silence.
“Then I’ll never be able to pay you back.”
“One day you’ll pay me back.” She scoffed at him and rolled her eyes.
“Seriously?”
“Trust me, I think that day is coming soon.”
So she quit her job and became Regulus’ trophy wife.
“Don’t say that,” he scolded her the first time she said it to him. She was giggling playing with the chain of the new necklace he had bought her.
“I’m only kidding,” she reassured him, pulling him in to press a kiss to his lips.
“I think I’m more like your sugar baby.”
She pulled him in for another kiss before he could groan.
But as soon as she had the baby “One day you’ll pay me back.” quickly turned into “You’re already paying me back.”
This time she laughed.
“What the fuck is that meant to mean?” She may have been near her mid-twenties, but she still felt like the same young teenager who had asked something similar the first time Regulus had responded in such a vague way.
“Nothing for you to worry your pretty little mind about.” He pressed a kiss to the top of her head and she giggled.
“Whatever you say.”
At the birth of their second child when she was lying in a bed in St Mungo’s in the early A.M of the morning, holding their newborn baby in her arms Regulus whispered her name. Their eldest, now almost three, had their arms wrapped around Regulus' neck, their head buried in his chest as their light breathing reached his ear.
Regulus wasn’t going to be able to make it to work tomorrow, but he had already arranged for the florist to deliver her favourite flowers to the hospital.
She hadn’t responded to his call, she was sleeping herself. Regulus had called the nurse as soon as he saw her pretty eyelids flutter shut and as he was waiting for them to arrive to take the baby back he whispered, “thank you for paying me back.”
But it wasn’t until they were in her late twenties. Regulus had a house, a pretty wife, and two beautiful children to come home to everyday and each day, he brought back with him something for his pretty wife.
Whether it was her favourite flowers or her favourite pastry that he had sent his assistant to retrieve all the way from Paris, he continued to spoil her.
One night he came home and it was thundering horribly.
As she was replacing her old flowers in her favourite vase she whispered, “the kids have been terrified all day.”
“Poor darlings.”
“One started crying and then the other followed and I almost copied them too.”
Regulus could tell that she had had a hard day with the two children so he ran her a bath while he got the kids fed and off to bed.
“Thank you for that,” she hummed when she finally joined him in bed, “you’re the best.”
She placed her legs over his hips and leant down to kiss him. “Can I pay you back for tonight?” She teased, running her fingers up and down his bare chest. Sometimes when Regulus wouldn’t let her pay him back she’d resort to other acts to which he happily let her repay him with.
“Told you I was your sugar baby,” she’d teased.
Regulus winced,”please don’t say that.”
Regulus had a cocky smirk gracing his lips, but just as he was about to agree a loud clap of thunder shook the house making her jump.
Regulus was quick to wrap his arms around her, but she only groaned and got out of his grasp, knowing what was about to come.
“Mummy!”
“Daddy!”
And within seconds their two little munchkins were in their room.
“We can’t sleep.” “Lucky we bought a big bed,” Regulus sighed.
“Don’t worry my darlings,” She reassured them, already pulling the blanket back so they could join them, “just a little bit of thunder, it won’t hurt you.”
“We won’t let anything happen to you, yeah?” Regulus continued, moving over to make room for the two little humans.
It seemed with the protection of their parents, the two little munchkins were able to fall asleep almost instantly.
The eldest was snuggled up to her, their arms resting across her tummy and their head buried in her chest while the youngest had their head rested on Regulus’ chest with their legs reaching her tummy.
“Regulus,” she whispered, not sure if her husband was still awake. He hummed back in response. “I’m mad they ruined the mood, but I still love them.” Regulus let out a soft chuckle.
“Thank you for spoiling me this afternoon.”
“Anytime.”
“Is there any other way I can repay you?”
“You already have.”
“I didn’t get to tonight, maybe tomorrow? Or maybe on the weekend I can drop them off at-”
“Darling, no,” Regulus interrupted. “You’ve already repaid me.”
“How so?”
“By giving me these two little munchkins,” he whispered. When she didn’t say anything he continued. “By agreeing to be my wife. By letting me spoil you. By loving me all the time. By being the best mother. By-”
“Regulus,” she whined, “you’re so cheesy.”
“It’s true.” Part of him wished there weren’t two little bodies blocking him from reaching out to her, but they were the biggest part of their relationship, so he didn’t complain. “All I wanted growing up was to have a family like this and you’ve provided me with that and more.”
“Well, if I knew that was how I needed to repay you I would’ve had your babies quicker,” she teased and Regulus was glad she couldn’t see his playful eyeroll.
“I’m serious,” he insisted and she sighed. “I just want to repay you for everything you’ve done for me.”
“You make it so easy to love you.” She turned her head as much as she could to look at him. “So can we call it even now? You’ve spoiled me enough to make up for everything I’ve done, deal?”
“Darling, I’m never going to stop spoiling you.”
Sleepover | R.B.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and your family finish off a tiring day with a makeshift sleepover — dad!regulus x mom!reader
warnings: mentions of death (a kid's pet goldfish dies), nightmares, just general parental exhaustion i guess
words: 1.6k
a/n: I've been working on this fic on and off for like a month lmao, but this is my comeback to writing so boom
Tumblr media
It’s been a long day. Ascella has been fussy all week, Aurora’s pet goldfish died, so you had to have that talk with her and Perseus plus a fish funeral, and then later, Aurora fell while playing outside and scraped her leg up pretty badly.
And on top of all of that, the Ministry of Magic needed Regulus to work late tonight.
So, that long day got even longer since it was just you taking care of the kids.
By 7 o’clock in the evening, the two older kids kept asking you where their dad was, and all you could tell them was that they would have to wait and see while bouncing Ascella on your leg to quell her tantrum.
Aurora and Perseus eventually listened to you and ditched asking you questions you didn’t know how to answer for a hand-clapping game they had made up the other day, but that was also dropped the second they heard the front door unlocking.
The kids rushed to the door and pounced on Regulus, each choosing one of his sides to hug tightly.
Your husband laughed. Not at the children, but at how he hadn’t even gotten the chance to take his shoes off before they latched onto him.
“Daddy!” They squealed, arms wrapped around his thighs and their faces squished against his waist. “It feels like you’ve been gone a hundred years!”
“A hundred years?!” Regulus parroted sarcastically. “Well, you all look wonderful for your old age!”
They laughed at their dad and let go of his legs. “You look exactly your age!”
Regulus does an exaggerated gasp. “Well, sounds like no dessert for you two for the rest of the week! And get me your mom and your sister who isn’t mean to me.”
The children looked at each other frantically, not realising Regulus had been joking about the dessert. Perseus speaks up for the both of them. “We’re sorry, Daddy! You don’t look a hundred years old, we promise!”
“Alright, I forgive you. Just get your mom and your sister so I can tell them I changed my mind about the dessert.”
Eager to earn their after-dinner sweets back, your two oldest kids run back to you in almost perfect lockstep.
“Daddy’s here!”
“Oh, is that who was at the door?” You feigned surprise, standing up with Ascella. “Come on, honey. Let’s go see Daddy, huh?”
When Regulus saw you and your baby girl walking his way, his lingering smile doubled in size. He hung his jacket up on the coat rack and held out his arms so he could get more hugs from the two of you.
Ascella’s frown disappears to morph into an expression that matches her father’s. She babbled and squirmed in your arms until you were able to pass her over to Regulus.
He pressed a couple of kisses to his daughter’s soft hair, which only made her more excited than she was when she saw her dad for the first time of the day.
Regulus brought his attention off of Ascella and onto you while you watched the two of them laugh and play. You didn’t think you were letting the events of today show on your face, but Regulus seemed to pick them up immediately.
“What’s wrong?” He asked softly.
You shook your head. “Nothing. I’m just happy you’re back home.”
Regulus understood what you meant and didn’t press. He just went back to teasing your youngest daughter. “Did you three make it a long day for Mummy? Huh? Did you give her a hard time today?”
Ascella just kept laughing as he tickled her sides and kissed her cheeks.
◆◇◆◇◆
Insistent that she would have trouble sleeping in her room without her fish, Aurora begged to stay with you and Regulus for the night.
You wanted to say no. You’ve been putting Ascella to sleep in the bassinet beside your bed while she’s been sick because she keeps waking up in the middle of the night in a fit of cries and screams. If Aurora slept in your bed, she would have to deal with that as well. Regulus said that it would be fine, so Aurora gladly hopped into your bed, dragging her stuffed rabbit behind her.
While she still wanted to chat before bed like you expected, when you reminded her to whisper because Ascella was asleep near you, she quieted down quickly and fell asleep soon after she stopped talking.
After that, Regulus joined you in bed. Aurora had taken up a fraction of both your side and Regulus’ of the bed, but she had mainly been sprawled across your husband’s half, so he just pushed her over enough for him to lie down.
Now you and Regulus laid across from each other, one little girl lying between you. You smiled sympathetically at the fact that you couldn’t hold each other like you usually would because of Aurora, and Regulus made the same face back.
“I’m sorry I had to work late.” He said quietly. “I know it wasn’t an easy day today. I know me having to stay later than usual didn’t help.” Since coming home, he had heard all the stories about today’s happenings, and he felt worse and worse with every one.
“It’s okay.” You reassured him. “These kids may be a handful, but there’s nothing about them that’s too much for me.”
“Well, I’ll still try to avoid working late from now on. You never know what a day is going to be like with them.”
“All I care about is that you’re here now.”
“Yeah, I am pretty great company to have.”
You could tell by his little grin that he was expecting you to laugh and argue with him, but he didn’t say anything you could push back against. Instead of fighting him on it, you just put out your hand for him to take in his.
“You are.” You told him sincerely. “For me and for the kids. And everyone else, too.”
He brought your hand up to his lips and pressed a sweet kiss to your palm. You smiled but held back a giggle, careful not to wake either of your daughters who were sleeping in your room tonight.
Regulus kept his mouth on your skin, moving his kisses further along. It started with your palm, then he trailed over to the ball of your hand, your wrist, your forearm. You tried silently shuffling closer to him so he could reach more of you, but he detached himself from you when you heard a soft knock at your bedroom door.
“Come in, honey.” You called quietly.
The bedroom door opened, and you could hear Perseus sniffling as he made his way across the room.  You and Regulus both sat up, concerned for your son, and you held out your arms. Perseus accepted your invite and hugged you tightly, wiping his tears on your shoulder.
“What’s wrong, baby?” You asked, not letting go of your son.
“I had a bad dream. I got scared.”
“Are you still feeling scared?”
He nodded, unlatching his arms from the hug. “A little.”
Regulus spoke up from beside you, still keeping his voice to a low hush. “Do you want to sleep here?”
Again, Perseus nodded, then he crawled onto your lap. You lifted up the covers so he could lay down beside you.
Your husband reached over and tousled your son’s hair lovingly. “We’ll keep you safe here.”
 You enveloped Perseus in your arms and kissed the crown of his head while rubbing circles on his back. “Do you want to talk about your bad dream?”
He sniffled into your neck and shook his head. That was okay. You weren’t going to force him to talk and upset himself even more. It was good that he was enjoying your company and feeling safe in your arms.
“That’s alright.” Regulus told him. “We can just all cuddle and enjoy this little sleepover here tonight. How does that sound?”
Perseus lifted his head up to look at Regulus and attempted to muster up a smile and a nod. “That sounds good, Dad.”
You smiled, happy that Perseus was already feeling better than before. “Yeah, we’re all gonna have a nice sleepover, and then we’re gonna have a great day tomorrow?”
Today wasn’t a great day, but you would do anything in your power to make sure tonight was good and tomorrow would be even better.
Perseus nodded sleepily once more at your proposal. “That sounds good too, Mum.”
You started rubbing his back once more to help him calm down and fall asleep faster. It seemed to be working as his breathing became more steady and his heartbeat was going back to normal.
“Goodnight, honey.” You told Perseus, even though you were sure he was too tired to hear you.
You looked up at Regulus, who was watching you lovingly from the other side of the bed. You were certain that if your bedroom wasn’t full of your sleeping children, you would have lunged across the bed for him the second you saw him gazing over at you.
“We should go to sleep too.” Regulus broke the silence. “Don’t want to risk waking them if we stay up and talk.”
You shot your husband a sweet grin. “You’re right, as always. Plus, the faster we get to sleep, the closer we get to the great day we’re gonna have tomorrow.”
I can't imagine Regulus not wanting children. I write a OC love interest and she had already a child from a previous relationship and Regulus just want to adopt the child. And since I picture him as a bit weird when he's into his pureblood ideology, his fiance having a child is proof she's fertile lol
That's valid. I can for sure see him being a weirdo about proof of fertility lmao 💀. He would probably be weird about adoption as well, at least at first. Not to say that I can't see him wanting to adopt, especially if it's an existing child he has a relationship with, like in this scenario. But ime, your average guy on the street is unreasonably attached to the idea of having biological children and unreasonably resistant to the idea of raising a child that isn't theirs. Add to that a belief that your bloodline is sacred and ancient and superior and all that, and I think the idea of adopting a child would be somewhat off-putting to young Regulus.
Especially true if the father of said child is a) unknown to Regulus or b) known to be half-blood or muggle-born or Merlin forbid, a muggle. I think he would have a LOT of weird ideas about raising a non pureblood child and I think he would be liable to give that kid a complex unless he went through a lot of personal growth.
But yes, I do think he has a drive to mold the youth in one way or another. Biological children, adoption, niblings, Professor Black, mentorship--whatever form it takes, he wants a legacy. I think part of that is the hyper mature younger brother in him. He has the characteristics of a slightly overbearing older sibling, but he doesn't really get the opportunity to flex those skills. So while he might have some initial resistance, I can see him being content with a range of family situations that diverge from the narrow box of "marry appropriate pureblood, give birth to 2-3 pureblood children" he was raised to aspire to.
