Edible landscaping refers to mixing food plants in with your ornamental ones, to create a setting that is not only visually appealing, but productive as well. This post will provide suggestions for How to Design It and What Plants to Choose. Edible landscapes are nothing new, with the Ancient Egyptians being one of the first to create gardens featuring flowers, grape vines, and fruit trees, mixed with seating areas where one could enjoy the scenery. In the 10th century, the rose gardens that were sprinkled with fragrant herbs became a signature creation of Benedictine monks. Examples include:

Using different types of loose-leaf lettuce as border plants

Creating a hedge from blueberries or currants, rather than unproductive shrubs

Replacing non-edible trees with fruit trees

Using tomato plants or grape vines, instead of conventional climbing vines to cascade over a trellis

Having pots and baskets of colorful, fragrant herbs, rather than non-edible flowers

Incorporating striking vegetables, such as Swiss chard and pak choi, into flower beds

Using strawberries, thyme and mint as ground cover

I hate cutting trees down, it’s happening far too often here n all parts of Florida as people keep relocating. However we needed more sun for the food forest so had 3 trees cut down this week. Another Recipe to help you with variety during this Pandemic Baked Apples Recipe Ingredients 4 Large Apples 3 Tbsp Sugar 1 Tsp Cinnamon 1/4 Cup Butter, softened Preheat your oven to 375°F Cut out holes in apples for stuffing Rinse and dry the apples. Using a sharp paring knife or an apple corer, cut out the cores, leaving the bottom 1/2 inch of the apples intact If using a paring knife, first cut out the stem area and then use a small metal spoon or butter knife to scoop out the seeds. Cut the holes so that they are an inch or so wide. Stuff with sugar mixture Place the brown sugar, cinnamon and butter in a small bowl and stir to combine. Put the apples in a baking dish and stuff each apple with the sugar stuffing mixture Bake Bake at 375°F for 30 to 45 minutes conventional oven, 20-30 minutes for convection oven, until the apples are cooked through and tender, but not overcooked and mushy.
