the wet squelching of the rug under your feet was enough to make you cringe and give you chills, even more than the water that dripped from your dress down your skin. you walked at a painstakingly slow pace that could only be compared to stephen king's carrie. a shiver rolled down your spine as you walked down the hallway to where your boyfriend laid on the couch in the hotel room with a book in his hand.

a little context might work. it was 8 at night. there was a pool. you didn't have a swimsuit, so you didn't jump in. your boyfriend, who now laid dry on the couch, prim and proper, dry as the sahara desert, pushed you in. then left you there.

you weren't mad at him for pushing you in and ditching you. no, that was just a normal prank for the both of you. you would've done the exact same.

no, you were mad he ruined your dress. the 285 dollar dress you've been waiting months for, that you saved up money for.

as you stood there like a horror character from a movie, doyoung's head laid back on his arm, placing his finger in between the book pages, covering his mouth as he stifled a laugh, "what happened?" he teased.

another shiver and you grit your teeth at him, "my dress..."

doyoung chuckled, "yeah?" he glanced at you up and down, "probably shouldn't have pushed you into the pool while you were wearing white." he dog-eared the page of the book, sitting up on the couch.

you walked around the couch to stare at him, the water echoing between the two of you as you stood still, droplets hitting the floor, spreading your arms, "give me a hug." you whispered, demanding the hug, not even bothering to ask.

doyoung jumped up, holding his hand out, "no, no, i think i'm okay."

"come on, doyo, give me a hug."

doyoung made his way around the couch, staring at you as you chased him. "come on, yn, you wouldn't want my nice shirt to — oh, okay, there it is."

you were able to catch him, hugging him tightly with the wet fabric draped over your body. you mischievously chuckled as he groaned at the feeling of the chlorinated pool water seep into his own clothes.

"ah... so warm." you pulled away, smiling as you saw the front of his shirt turning a dark grey, "you got a little something there." you teased.

doyoung matched your look, pecking your lips softly, "i have a wonderful idea on how to warm up." he smiled, his hands lingering on your hips.

you rolled your eyes, "is this your way of apologizing about my dress?"

"maybe." doyoung chuckled.

maybe you could forgive him for his destroying of your dress, even if it wasn't by buying you another.

The Half Life of Valery K by Natasha Pulley would be so good if it was good

#i'm gonna have to revive my goodreads account just to leave a bad review AND send 10 million ranting voice messages to my friend tomorrow #ok first the premise was good and based on true history about the ussr's secret nuclear testing facility City 40 #the first half of the book had well-written mystery and the atmosphere was truly chilling it was a great cold war era thriller #unfortunately this book has too many flaws and just things that are straight up bad #such as: the mc is an uwuified scientist ex prisoner who GUESS WHAT worked directly under joseph mengele on human experiments???#and it's just like but uwu he was still young and had no choice #well the author had a choice and if you're gonna write something like that at least explore the topic properly????????#oh yeah and an entire prisoner train carriage of women gets raped by all the male prisoner except for valery our heroic mc #who couldn't do anything about it then until he laters kills all of those men with a bomb so he gets a traumatic AND a heroic backstory #and then the love interest: the kgb man with a wife and 4 kids he dearly loves but who conveniently get written off at the end #with no clear resolution as to what actually happened to his family after he defects abroad and he barely even mentions them afterwards????#oh yeah and our mc has some wildly anachronistic sjw-esque tumblr feminisms that the author forced in seemingly to make up for her #treatment of the actual female characters in the book???#the science was sound for the most part except the so-called scientist characters were being STUPID about it #they're like ohhh i wonder what are these weird mud geysers that keep popping off when we're not on volcanic ground #THAT'S THE GODDAMN HEAT FROM THE RADIOACTIVE WASTE AND I KNEW THAT FROM THE FIRST MENTION OF THESE GEYSERS #also the authir doesn't know how russian surnames work and wildly overestimates the amount of coffee that russians drink #and wildly underestimates the alcohol tolerance of 50+ year old bulky kgb officers and doesn't seem to know that the russian language #is gendered. like she writes a whole monologue for valery complaining about being called mister by the english because it's gendered????#also the whole resolution of the book is like a mediocre action thriller airport novel compared to the tense and atmospheric beginning #nah i'm going to sleep. good night

i think it's very funny that neither steve stans nor jonathan stans are happy with the way the writers write their favorite character

#steve stans are greedy but also steve really is their punching bag and is really always very chill about it like haha yeah it's funny but #it's also...annoying? he's always almost dying but they can't kill him off but also he's not one of the characters whose trauma gets to be #processed really #i mean i GUESS you could stay the st4ncy revival has something to do with trauma but also...could you #so i kind of get them #even though i don't care that much personally #i like steve. i love steve even. i would love to see him get out of his st4ncy revival era and realize that platonic love is just as #fulfilling or whatever. but other than that...i mean hes just not the kind of character the show's about he was supposed to die in s1 for a #reason😕 they kept him around because joe was great and yay good for him and for steve but he's very obviously...their ga marketing asset #it's interesting that the ONE guy THE normal guy is such a fan favorite in both the ga and in the fandom though #society etc #and i don't think i need to talk about why jonathan stans are mad about the way he's been written and sidelined lol #and like i say: brf slt

Now that all of my siblings are grown I'm rapidly reaching the point where my teen niblings are going to be more relatable to my life than any of my siblings

Like. Hey guys. Nice to see you, no, sorry, I cannot relate in your conversations about childcare, planning a family, jobs that require a degree, buying a house, being employable, fear of aging, christianity, being cishet, etc
