Escape From Noise - Negativland

The album Escape From Noise by Negativland features the song "Christianity is Stupid" which sparked some media coverage due to an untruthful press release that Negativland had put out saying that they had cancelled a tour because federal officials had said that their song could have contributed to a murder in Minnesota. This media coverage was itself sampled extensively in the Negativland album Helter Stupid. Christianity is Stupid samples a Christian album warning of the dangers of a communist America. This album has songs discussing related to things like communism, nuclear war, guns, etc. and I really enjoy it. The song Time Zones has an interesting sample of a talk radio host asking a caller if they knew how many time zones the Soviet Union had (it was 11), there is a song about the colors of signs for nuclear fallout shelters(Yellow Black and Rectangular), a song about a location that would be good to move into California(I believe) juxtaposed with people talking about guns(Sycamore), and other interesting songs. Negativland is a band I think a lot of people should check out and I think that their album Escape From Noise is a great album to start listening to their music with. My favorite song is Time Zones.
