it’s truly no wonder saiki hardly talks
if i was hearing mall court levels of noise 24/7 i would never talk either, why would you want to a d d more noise.
the boy genuinely doesn’t get a moment of peace it’s truly shocking how well he seems to handle it
i don’t think i could last a day w nonstop noise
and with all those thoughts in ur head i feel like it’d be hard to even form ur own jeez
he can’t even plug his ears or do anything about it. and it’s so prevalent in his life that he also has a hard time adjusting to complete silence, bc yeah that would freak me the hell out and you’d be startled too
for him it’s rlly just complete noise or complete silence w the ring there’s no good way for him to easily adjust which sucks sm for him.
idk man that just sounds horrible and we hardly ever see exactly how bad his powers probably effect him yknow

Pairing: Husband!Damian Wayne x Wife!Reader
Word count: 1.2k
Warning: reader has bad thought about her marriage with Damian, maybe slight cursing, marriage problems? Not proofread
(Requested!)
Tumblr media
He doesn’t love you.
That’s why he doesn’t wear his ring as often anymore.
He found someone else that’s why he’s so distant with you now.
A groan leaves past your lips, fixing your position on your bed, moving from your side to laying on your back. Eyes adjusting to the dark as you stare up at the white ceiling. Another thoughtful night, ones that you hated the most were also the ones where Damian spends most of the night hours cooped up in his study hall—finishing up paper for Wayne Enterprises. It seems that all he’s been doing since Bruce passed it down to him after the old man’s retirement.
You really couldn’t blame anyone, that’s what owning a big company is about, but you would have never thought that it would take time away from each other. It’s a selfish thought, but all you really want to do is spend time with your husband. Sometimes it feels like he’s doing it to get away from you. That’s what you think.
Maybe confronting him would put you at ease for a while. You debated whether or not you should go now or wait until he wasn’t busy burying his nose in his paperwork, but with much arguing with yourself and your thoughts you came to a conclusion to just get up and go ask.
“Oh what the hell”
The master bed creeks slightly as you get up and slide yourself up. Slipping your feet into your fluffy slippers that were always placed beside your side of the bed, you push yourself up from the mattress. You pick up a thinner blanket that was draped over a chair in your room and draped it over your shoulders before leave to go find Damian. Which wasn’t very hard to find considering he’s been in his study, which was Bruce’s old study, since early this afternoon.
Now it’s past midnight, and you are in front of the door of the room, hand hovering over the door knob wondering if it was the right time to talk about it. With a soft sigh you grasp the knob gently pushing the door open as you walk in. Your eyes catch a glimpse of Damian’s figure hunched over his desk scribbling down on paper as quickly as he can.
“Damian?” You call out, the sound of pen against paper stops as Damian’s eyes catch yours humming at you indicating you’ve got his attention. “You should come to bed” you bite back your tongue “it’s late” Damian smiles at you, a very genuine one
“in a minute. I’m almost done here. Carry on and go back to sleep Habibti'' well, He didn’t exactly specify that you had to go back to your room and sleep, so it caught him by surprise when he catches you getting you comfortable on the big L shape couch in the room that sets a few feet away from his desk. He can’t help but chuckle. “What are you doing?”
He questions and you shrug innocently “you said I should go back to sleep so that’s what I’m doing. Wake me up when you’re finished so we can go back to our bedroom. Together” you close your eyes, and listen as the sound of pen and paper continue. But you can’t fall back asleep—the sound has nothing to do with it, you actually enjoy the sound but the thoughts are what keep you awake. Troubling you as you lay on your back, eyes wide open as you stare up at the ceiling much like earlier.
Too deep in thought you never hear the sounds stop, the chair squeaking against the wooden floor as Damian gets up from his seat, his footsteps quiet. You don’t notice him until he’s sitting right beside your head, his warm hand gently creasing down your cheek.
“What seems to be troubling you, zawjati?” You stay quiet for a moment before answering
“it’s Nothing”
“it’s clearly something if it’s keeping you up at this hour” he says, staring down at your lying form. You grab hold of his hand—keeping it from creasing your face any further. You pull yourself up so your back is fully up against the cushions, knees pulled up against your chest. Damian watches your every move closely. You keep your eyes low—away from his gaze as you bite the side of your cheek.
“Do….” You sigh out for what seemed to be the nth time today. Finally, you have the courage to look him in the eye “Do you still love me?” Searching, your eyes linger in his eyes for a sign. But you couldn’t find anything, but then again he was always good at hiding his emotions for people—even from you. The silence from him gave you a bad feeling as tears were pricking at the corner of your eyes—you don’t have the courage to look him in the eyes anymore “Seems like I’ve got my answer then huh'' Damian doesn’t register anything until your shuffling yourself off from the couch. He’s quick to reach out to you before you can take another step away from him, pulling you back down as you sit beside him—close with your hips touching. He starts to wipe the tears that threaten to fall down your cheek.
“Where on earth did you get that idea from?” He questions, you shrug your lips turning into a straight as you answer
“It doesn’t matter—“
“it does if these thoughts are poisoning yours” he gently taps against your forehead. You nod slowly, throat dry as you try to explain.
“you’ve been so distant— and I know it’s because of work but sometimes it feels like it’s not” he doesn’t interrupt—no matter how many times he wants to deny it, it’s best to hear you out first. As you continue his strong arm wraps around your shoulder softly—bringing you closer to his side, his free arm reaching over and placing your head on his shoulder, you don’t fight it back as you make yourself comfortable “it’s selfish I know but—I don’t know. I barely see you anymore. It’s frustrating” by the end of it you're fidgeting around with his fingers on your lap.
Damian’s head is laying on top of yours “wanting my love is never selfish” he speaks up “I’m sorry for neglecting my duties as your husband”
You shake your head “you don’t have to apologize, I should be the one apologizing seeing as I was the one that jumped to conclusions”
Damian grips your hand tightly— but not too tight where it hurts. “You should have said something, if I had known sooner I would have pushed my work aside and came to your aid” now you were starting to feel bad—it was clear it wasn’t his intention to do so but you couldn’t help it.
Your groans had Damian staring at you as you laid your head in your hands “Now I feel bad” there’s a soft gaze in his eyes
“Don’t be” Damian gets up from his spot beside you and grasps your hand in his—thumb grazing over your knuckles “come, let’s go to bed shall we? I believe I have a tired wife who needs her beauty sleep?” Rolling your eyes he pulls you to your feet and before you knew it you were yelping as he lifted you up in the air as carried you in a bridal position. “I will move my plans so that I can spend the next few days with you, zawjati” he leans his head done and kisses your forehead “how does that sound’ giving him a soft smile your response
“I actually like the sound of that”

Late Night Encounters Part 3
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Fem!Reader
Warnings: SMUT!! Female receiving oral, unprotected vaginal penetration
Word Count: 3.5K
A/N: It’s my birthday so I didn’t proofread this!! I’m sorry!!
Once again, Fred had a date. He woke up that morning and remembered every bit of what he had said, and stood by his words. He told Y/N he still wanted to see the ring on the table when he got home. He wanted her to think about it for at least 24 full hours before she made a decision.
Y/N and Fred had narrowly missed each other that morning. He was off running errands for the day and she had only just woken up. He was home for lunch and she was out with Hermione. Y/N felt her heart sink, feeling guilty for wanting to see him. Why guilt, though? She didn’t feel like she had a valid reason to feel guilty. After she got home from lunch Fred had already left for his date, so she fell asleep on the couch in the living room, figuring it was a good way to pass the time until she saw her new best friend again.
“Why was this on the kitchen table?” George asked, waking Y/N up out of her sweet, dreamless sleep on the couch. He was holding the ring.
“I can’t sleep with jewelry on.” She shrugged, getting up and going to grab the ring. He held it up higher. She almost laughed until she saw the look on his face.
“I’m serious.” She sighed heavily at this.
“I know, George.”
“You know what?” The audacity that men have.
“I know you’re sleeping with her again.”
“W-what?” He almost dropped the ring.
“I just don’t get it, George.”
“I w-wouldn’t do that again.”
“Except you are.”
“Why are you accusing me right now?”
“Because I’m not dumb! Just because I trust you doesn’t mean I’m dumb! I’m not naive. The first time, sure. This time, no! It’s the same as last time, but you thought I’d stay with you just because you proposed this time! Maybe I won’t, did you think about that? What if you get her pregnant? Did you just expect me to stay around and raise the kid? Or what if we both get pregnant, who are you leaving alone with their child?”
“I cannot believe this right now--”
“Stop that! Stop it! You’re gaslighting me! You know I’m right! Stop lying!”
“Fine!”
“How long?”
“A year.”
“So immediately after we got back to where we were.”
“Yes.”
“Why? What did I do? Why am I not enough for you?”
“Maybe if you--”
“Actually, no, fuck you. I’m enough for me. I’m enough for so many people. I gave you a second chance and you fucking blew it! I’ve done so much for you, for Fred, too!”
“I--” He sighed. He was speechless. It was the first time you’d really fully stood up for yourself. It was on him, he knew that. “I think...I’m going to spend the night at the Burrow, and we’ll talk about it tomorrow.”
“No.”
“What?”
“Go, spend the night with her, but don’t lie to me and say you’re staying with your mom.” She spoke bluntly, tears streaming out of her eyes quietly. It was a silent cry, the only way Y/N ever allowed herself to cry in front of people. He hesitated, but he turned around and left the living room. Y/N entered the kitchen, starting to grease pans for baking.
-
Fred came home that night, mostly confused. Y/N wasn’t in the living room tonight, which didn’t make him feel great. That wasn’t the worst of it though. The date was great. She was perfect, but...he hated it. Something was missing. As she listed off interests, favorite movies, her favorite quidditch team...all he could think was that something was missing. When he got home, and Y/N was missing, it dawned on him. It was her. She was missing. The girl had listed off all of Y/N’s favorite movies, her favorite songs. She liked to bake. Her favorite quidditch team was the Holyhead Harpies, the team his little sister played on. Suddenly, Fred felt rather sick. He can’t have feelings for his brother's girlfriend--no, fiance!
With a pit in his stomach, he walked into the kitchen, where he opened his eyes wide. The entire kitchen table and window sill were covered in baked goods. There was one clean counter, where Y/N sat staring off into space, waiting for her next round of cookies to finish.
“Oh! I forgot! I’m sorry, how was the date?”
“What’s wrong?”
“Oh nothing--”
“Don’t, please don’t close yourself off. We’re close now, just let me in. What happened, what’s with the baked goods?” He asked, leaning with his arms crossed and his back against the island counter across from where she sat. He noticed the ring was missing, it wasn’t on Y/N’s finger, it wasn’t on the counter or the table where he’d seen it last.
“He admitted it. He’s cheating on me with her again.” She sighed, looking to the ceiling and holding back tears. “And it sucks so hard to know he wasted all this time of mine again. He proposed to me. I know he’s your brother, but that’s just so...crazy. Who does that?” She paused, and just as Fred was about to talk she kept going. “And the worst part is that I don’t...I don’t feel anything. The first time he cheated with Angelina it was like my whole world came crashing down. He was my best friend, my boyfriend, and my roommate. Now, it barely even feels like we’re roommates. I thought I could love him the same way after it all, and maybe he cheated because I couldn’t.”
“Don’t blame yourself. Cheating is always a decision. If he realized you didn’t love him the same way he should have communicated with you. Broken up. Not proposed and delayed this.” Fred sighed. Y/N wouldn’t make eye contact with Fred, assumingly because she was upset.
“I--” She paused, chest tight. She looked up at Fred, making blatant eye contact. “What if I’ve been emotionally cheating?” Fred’s eyes widened and his heart sank. He felt awful, like his feelings for her would just have to go away again. Right as they were getting close.
“W-what? With who?”
“You fucking idiot.” She sighed, pushing herself off the counter. She went to walk away, but Fred put his arms on either side of her on the counter, pinning her where she was.
“Don’t walk away.” He whispered, so close to her face. Her heart pounded.
“I--” She sighed. “Fred, I’ve felt more for you in the past five days than I’ve felt for George in the past year and a half. I waited all day for you to be here, and I kept feeling guilty for it. I’ve felt so guilty, and then I find out he’s cheating and I’m so numb to it because you’re all I can think about.” She paused to breathe before she continued her quick ramblings. “Also, the idea of having feelings for you is so weird, because we only just started to like each other, but you’re standing so close to me and all I can hear is my heart pounding in my ears. I can’t stop thinking about all the girls you used to bring home and how I don’t want to be just one of those girls you sleep with. But obviously I can’t just be with you because I think I just broke off my engagement with your brother and also because you haven’t said anything--” So Fred, in his overwhelmed state, pushed forward and pressed his lips against hers. She grabbed both sides of his face as he grabbed her hips. After a few moments, he quickly pulled apart, moving one of his hands to keep her hand on his face in place
“I couldn’t tell you the other night, but I had feelings for you that summer before the war, but you were with George. I couldn’t...I couldn’t just confess then, and besides you were so happy with him. Then we didn’t like each other, and the night before you got engaged I couldn’t stop thinking about you all over again. And...George made us spend all that time together and you’re the only thing I think about. The girl I went on the date with was so perfect, but I couldn’t get you off my mind and I realized she was just like you. But she wasn’t. She wasn’t you, no one will ever be you.” Fred spoke in a hushed tone with his eyes closed, as if speaking any louder or seeing her would make Y/N evaporate into thin air. Slowly, he opened his eyes to see her with tear tracks down her face.
“I don’t think anyone’s ever said anything that nice to me before.” She whispered, taking the hand that wasn’t trapped by his and wiping her face. He giggled, letting go of her hand and using both of his hands to hold the sides of her face. He leaned forward and kissed the tear stains on Y/N’s face. “You’re like this perfect man, it’s so wildly different from George.” She mumbled.
“I can’t account for where he went wrong, and I haven’t always been great. But if you give me the chance, I will love you better than anyone else could dream of.” With tears streaming down her eyes she pulled him in to kiss her again, he smiled against her lips. He held the small of her waist as she rested one of her hands on his chest, the other sat at the back of his neck playing with his hair. He moaned when she pulled it gently, causing her to smile into their kiss. She almost missed being able to see him rolling his eyes at her smirk.
“Love me, please. Tonight, tomorrow, every day. Just--love me tonight.” She whispered against his lips as they panted for air.
He leaned down, kissing her again as he grabbed the back of her thighs and lifted her back to a sitting position on the counter. Y/N threaded her fingers through Fred’s hair, one of Fred’s hands was on her thigh, the other rested on her waist. Finally, she bit his bottom lip in an attempt to get him to do anything. In response, he gave a noise that sounded between a groan and a growl, moving to her neck to leave bite marks. He licked the shell of her ear and bit the lobe as he moved down to the length of her neck, sucking hard. She moaned softly, whimpering when he used he grazed his teeth over her neck.
She started grinding her hips against his in an attempt to get some friction. He grabbed her hips, pulling her closer to him to aid in her plight for friction. After he felt satisfied with the bruises he’d left on her neck he went back to her lips, sucking on her bottom lip briefly before licking it in a silent asking of permission to use it. She gracefully licked his tongue, granting his own tongue admission to her mouth. Their tongues wrestled messily, Y/N playing with Fred’s hair and occasionally pulling softly to hear him moan. She was starting to feel frustrated with just grinding, so she moved the hand that was on the side of Fred’s face to gracefully feel all the way down his body before she started palming him through his slacks. He gave a harsh groan this time, pulling apart from her mouth briefly.
“You’re so beautiful, so sexy.” His voice was deep with pleasure and she moaned at the sound alone. Her heart swelled, she hadn’t been praised like that sexually...ever. Fred took one of his hands off of her hips to thread into her hair, pulling gently to hear her moan. He swore to himself that he could hear that every minute of every day and never get tired of it. While Fred knew he was going to fuck her, his intentions were pure-- he wanted to make love to her. Y/N, however, was getting frustrated with his politeness. She started to unbutton his slacks and he broke off their kiss again. “Hold on, I want to take care of you.” He whispered, flush against her lips.
“I appreciate that, but I want you inside of me.” She whispered, her hand that had been unbuttoning his pants was now tangled in his shirt. Fred felt his heart drop to his cock when she said this, groaning at her lack of restraint. Y/N started unbuttoning his shirt as he separated her thighs and pulled her completely to the edge of the counter.
“You’ll just have to be patient, princess.” He grinned as he went to crouch, kissing her knee on the way down. He left kisses all over the inside of her thighs, leaving her soaked to the core before he had even really touched her. Both Fred and Y/N were thankful she was wearing a dress that day, making his access considerably easier as he rubbed her through only her thin panties. Kissing the inside of her thigh as he looked up into her eyes, he felt like the luckiest man alive. He almost grinned when he saw she was adorning another pair of fruit covered panties.
“You know, I wasn’t kidding when I said the cherry panties were sexy,” He smirked up at her, rubbing circles into her clit through peach covered cotton. “These are sexy too, but I think they’d look a lot better on the floor.” He grabbed the cotton on her hips and pulled them down, leaving them on the floor like he promised. Y/N’s thighs were shaking from all the teasing he had done already. He licked from her inner knee to where he promised to take care of her, latching his mouth onto her clit. She gasped at the feeling of his warm tongue, closing her eyes. He used his tongue to create figure-8’s against her clit, and slowly pushed one finger into her. At this, she threw her head back, resting the crown of her skull gently against the cabinet behind her. She laced her fingers through Fred’s hair, now pulling hard. He groaned in his own pleasure, creating vibrations against her clit which in turn made her moan. He pushed a second finger into her, slowly pumping them as he worked her clit. After adding a third finger, her legs were shaking violently, showing she was nearing the edge. He quickly swapped his fingers and tongue, using his thumb to rub circles against her clit and sticking his tongue as deep as he could inside of her warm pussy. He had his other arm wrapped around her thigh, one of her hands reaching to hold the hand there as she neared her end even faster than before.
“I want you to say my name when you cum, baby, can you do that for me?” He paused briefly, looking up at her, she nodded vigorously. His tongue returned to it’s warm reserve inside of her. The motions he made with his thumb against her clit became faster, and soon enough she was squeezing his hand and nearly screaming his name. Fred waited for her to stop squeezing his hand to stand up and kiss her on the lips again. “You did so good, baby.” He whispered against her lips.
“Freddy,” She whimpered against his lips. “You haven’t even fucked me yet and I don’t think I’ll be able to walk.” She almost laughed at the thought. He grinned, happy with his work so far. He tucked a strand of her behind her ear, kissing her ear as he spoke.
“You won’t need to, baby. I’ll fuck you right here,” He started licking and kissing her neck again, making her whine. “And I’ll take care of you so you don’t have to walk.” He whispered against her quickly bruising flesh. She whined again, reaching to finish her job unbuttoning his shirt and unzipping his already unbuttoned pants. He let her continue as he wrapped his hand in her hair once and pulled back, exposing the front of her neck to him where he continued his attack. When she finished unbuttoning his shirt he helped her pull it off his shoulders, exposing his freckled and scarred skin on his chest to her. She rubbed her hands against his chest, feeling every individual scar and wondering where each of them came from. He watched her eyes dart around, a small closed-lip smile adorning her face as she felt the raised white scars. He rubbed his thumb against her cheek softly, loving his own view. Using the same hand that was petting her cheek, he lifted her face to look up at his. He pulled her face close to his own and kissed her softly.
“I love you, Y/N.” He whispered against her lips with his eyes closed. She smiled, reaching her face up to kiss his eyelids. Angel kisses on his blonde eyelashes. It was a sweet moment, to remind them both that not only was there no going back after what they were about to do, but also to remind them that this wasn’t just fucking. This was real, unadulterated love. He opened his eyes, looking deeply into hers as she pushed his slacks and boxers down as far as she could with her hands, using her bare feet the rest of the way. He lifted her dress over her head, tossing it somewhere behind him, inevitably landing on some type of baked good. She rested one hand against his jaw, pulling his face close to hers, her other hand pumping his cock and gently rubbing the tip. He closed his eyes, letting out a deep breath at the feeling of her small hand around him. He rested one hand on her jaw, mirroring her. His other hand rested on the small of her back to push her closer to him. They kissed gently, feeling like this moment was fragile and could be broken. Y/N moved the hand that was on his cock and squeezed his bicep, quietly communicating that she was ready. He moved his hand from the small of her back to line himself up with her entrance, and as he pushed in the both gasped quietly at the feeling. Fred rested his forehead on Y/N’s shoulder, eyes closed as he waited quietly and politely for her to adjust to his size. After a few moments she tapped him to tell him to move, her eyes squeezed tightly closed for preparation of any pain that would come from his movements. He moved slowly, truly taking this moment to get to know Y/N’s body. He felt every groove inside of her, every dip and small raise in her skin, memorising her inside and out. As they both started to get used to this puzzle-piece moment in which it felt like the clicking of soul-mates finally coming together, they started kissing again. Fred’s tongue entered her mouth, exploring, dead set on memorising her entire body. Her hands found themselves resting on his back, nails digging in every so often. If this had been her sex dream, she would’ve been wondering how many girls had dug their nails into his back, but in person all she could think about was him. He filled her every sense, she could smell him, feel him everywhere, taste him, his freckled skin stuck on her eyes even when they closed, and their shared moans overwhelmed her ears. If this was what making love was, she definitely had never shared that with George.
Fred lowered his hand, rubbing her clit gently as his pace got faster. He wasn’t sure if he had ever felt so good so quickly, he was almost positive he hadn’t ever felt his high come so quickly. As he pounded into Y/N’s g-spot and rubbed her clit, she found herself loudly moaning. Her nails were now leaving deep marks into Fred’s back, and Fred hadn’t even noticed.
“Fred,” She moaned his name loudly, the sound of which made his own high come even faster. Set on finding their highs together, they were flush together. Y/N nor Fred had never been so close to someone, their entire bodies touching. Her legs were wrapped around him, her torso flush against his and her face buried into his chest. His face was buried into her neck, leaving occasional kisses to avoid his own moans. Quickly, they found their highs together. After hitting her g-spot so many times, she warned him. He quietly thanked Godric, his own high coming as well. So as they came together, panting, completely embraced, they felt loved. They’d both felt fucked-out before, but this felt different. This felt simultaneously heavy and weightless on their hearts, and they stayed together for a long time. They kissed quietly, Fred not really wanting to leave her, and she not wanting him to leave her either. Before he pulled out she spoke.
“I love you too, Freddy.”

hiiiii (*´︶`*)ฅ♡ wonderful writing ! could we maybe have some hcs/a scenario of a Madeleine Cookie and a reader who struggles with insomnia/constant exhaustion ? thank u !
hello! i'm glad you like my writing! here you go, I don't know much about Madeleine so he might be a little ooc but i don't think there's much content of him anyways? so this is my interpretation ;' enjoy!
Madeleine x Reader with insomnia/exhaustion
Exhausted, that's the word you felt like was most appropriate to describe how you had been feeling for days on end; as Madeleine's right hand man, your duties had always been taxing, if not a bit repetitive, and struggling with insomnia didn't help you get them done quickly.
But lately it had been especially hard to focus on them because of how late you were falling asleep, and how early you would wake up to make sure everything was in order, retreating only once the sun was completely set.
Madeleine, as the caring and attentive partner he had always been, hadn't failed to notice the bags under your eyes getting bigger and your tired voice and body language; trying to get you to go to bed earlier, even if you were just going to lie there for hours, didn't seem to work, and always ended up in you insisting that it was all useless and you would've preferred to get something done instead of staring at the ceiling until sunrise.
So on one particularly rainy day of that week, he decided to give everyone a day off from training which meant that both of you would've been free to relax until the next day.
He sighed when you still went to open your wardrobe, trying to decide on an outfit to wear. Your fatigued eyes scanned the clothes for what felt like an eternity to him, until you settled for a cream colored blouse and high waisted pants;
"That's an overly formal outfit for what's supposed to be our day off."
He joked, but you just rolled your eyes.
"Why even take today off? Because of the rain?"
He shrugged, cuddling into your shared bed's warm blanket. You shook your head at him and began changing out of your night clothes.
"Wait- the rain's not the only reason, I…"
He trailed off.
"…You?"
"…I wanted us to be able to relax and spend some time together for once… since I've noticed how tired you are, so don't bother wearing anything fancy, just come back to bed."
You felt your cheeks grow warmer at his words, which somehow managed to remind you of the pains you had been getting since you stopped even trying to fall asleep at a decent hour.
You thought of how nice it would've been to fall asleep and then wake up into your lover's strong arms, well rested and ready to go.
And plus, you hadn't failed to notice how he started staring at you with his puppy dog eyes, typical of when he really wanted or needed something from you.
"…Ugh, I guess I'll try, just for you." You smiled and threw your clothes back into the wardrobe, climbing back into bed right afterwards.
Madeleine beamed, wrapping his arms around the small of your back and bringing you closer to his chest; you could feel him smiling when he kissed the top of your head.
His familiar scent and the sound of the rain softly hitting the windows were definitely helping you relax, and your eyelids started getting heavier.
When Madeleine noticed, he sighed contently and began whispering anything that came to his mind to you; he remembered you telling him that his voice had helped you fall asleep faster in the past.
"Do we even really need to work until late at night…? Maybe we get tired from it easily now because we're getting old."
"Oh shut up… you're old."
You lightly pinched his side, which elicited a laugh from him.
"Don't you dare start a tickle fight right now."
"Hmm…maybe not now…but be prepared."
You both went on jokingly bickering and whispering to each other, until Madeleine could see you clearly struggling to stay awake. Your eyes were barely open and your responses had been reduced to simple hums or nods; so he yawned and cuddled closer to you, if it was even possible.
"We should sleep now, don't you think?"
"Mhm..."
He chuckled and started playing with your hair until you drifted off, which was when he allowed himself to do the same.
--
You heard a sound, not really registering where it was coming from at first, nor who was making it. With your dreams still replaying in your head, you rolled over and opened your eyes, just to find out that the other side of your shared bed was empty.
"Madeleine...?"
You sat up and looked around in search of your boyfriend, who came running in your room shortly after, holding a tray with food and a glass of water.
"Rise and shine! Did you sleep well? Sorry I left you in bed all alone," he handed you the tray and kissed your forehead, "I wanted to make you something to eat."
"Thank you, you really didn't need to though," you smiled at the way he decorated your plate, "What time is it?"
"It's around two in the afternoon." He climbed back into bed and snuggled on your side.
"And it hasn't stopped raining yet?"
"No, looks like this was meant to be a lazy day."
You enjoyed your meal while listening to Madeleine brag about his cooking skill; though you couldn't blame him, he really was a good cook and you loved it when he made something for you.
For the first time in a while, you noticed you actually felt well rested enough, and it was all thanks to Madeleine, who happily obliged when you asked him to put his head on your lap so you could play with his hair -returning the favor, since he had done that for you earlier- while you read a book you had recently gotten for yourself, but hadn't had the time to read.
Now you could finally relax with your boyfriend without your eyelids constantly feeling heavy, at least for a day.

Needled Words
Characters: Childe, fm!reader
Word Count: 1,691
Warnings: Swearing
Premise: When does a joke go too far, when is a jab more than just friendly? Where does the line blur and where does it stop?
In which Childe’s teasing becomes too much for the reader
Author’s Note: For some reason this prompt made me think of Nancy Mitford, mostly because she was known also for being a slightly mean-spirited teaser. Ah Childe, my beloved. Communication in a relationship is key y’all.
Childe
You knew that Childe was only joking. After all, didn’t he read his letters to you? Brimming with little asides and jokes.
“Dear Tonia, I would say I was happy to get your letter, if only it was sopping wet. Did you leave it out in the snow again? I swear, if you were in the illustrious Tsaritsa’s army, you’d probably end up attacking your own regiment, and then I’d be forced to execute you for treason!” No one could mistake such an opening for anything except a slightly barbed bit of teasing.
Nor were the younger one’s exempt. Teucer’s antics had resulted in quite a bit of teasing. “Teucer, I think the Mr. Cyclopses have better survival instincts” and “I didn’t take you for someone who spent other people’s money!” This latter statement was made after Teucer spied the hand-crafted, very expensive, fireworks that were sold in Liyue. Of course, Childe had bought him the fireworks, and of course he never begrudged doing things for you when he teased you either. Still, you somehow felt as if things were different when directed at you.
Not that they really were. It wasn’t so much that you were picking up a different tone, it was more that, unlike Childe’s siblings and other friends, such as Zhongli, who was subjected to endless old man jokes, you couldn’t seem to take them well. When he joked about how many times you ran into the countertop you began to wonder if you truly had something wrong with your hand-eye coordination; when he said you were the laziest person, he’d ever met you wondered if you weren’t sleeping in too late; when he teased that he had to be your personal babysitter you wondered if you were truly good enough to be an adventurer. It wasn’t Childe’s fault, it really wasn’t, but that didn’t mean it hurt any less.
Of course, you could tell him, could finally let it all out and stop pretending that it wasn’t painful to try and keep all your emotion sunder wraps. But you couldn’t help but feel as if that would in some ways disappoint him. He was a Harbinger, tough, aloof. No words could ever hurt Childe, of that, you were sure. So how would he take it, the knowledge that his part was all too liable to shatter at every poke and prod? You couldn’t blame him if he turned out to be ashamed.
So, you kept it to yourself, smiled through all the jabs and teases. It didn’t matter, it really didn’t. You were fine! Or if you, weren’t it wasn’t worth it trying to change anything. You didn’t want to lose Childe, didn’t want to see the change when he went to say something before stopping, looking at you’re with barely concealed disappointment. Childe lived with his emotions to the forefront after all. And you wouldn’t ask him to change something you ultimately loved about him.
Thus, the days continued on, as did the teasing and the feigned smiles. Some days it was worth it, some days you were left with nothing but happiness bubbling up inside, the love that humans reserved for a very few number of friends and lovers. Yet those days were often days with minimal teasing, and you couldn’t help but notice the layer of anxiety that pressed on your love the days that were filled with Childe’s jabs. Lying in bed, limbs tangled with his, you stared up at the ceiling, wondering what you should do. You felt trapped, by your emotions, by your pride, by Childe’s words. They were all encircling you, and you could do nothing to defend yourself. You tried to keep the tears to a minimum; after all your partner slept so little already.
You didn’t know when the subtle shift happened, when it all became too much to handle. Maybe it was after Childe’s recent trip to Snezhnaya, where, surrounded by Harbingers who saw their coworkers as enemies rather than allies, he had sharpened his wit even more so than before. If his earlier teasing was unfocused, general quips, then his current ones struck quite closer to home.
“Wow my dear I didn’t peg you for a Treasure Hoarder, I don’t think that arrow could hit anyone if it tried!”
“I think you truly have the makings of someone who gets scammed by a Mondstadtian duke, or perhaps a Fontaine prince who has lost all his mora in a flood. Remind me to never go shopping with you.”
“Honestly, I think if you ran into the Electro Archon, she’d think your vision was fake. It’d be an easy way out.”
The whiplash of Childe’s proclamations of “princess” mingled with sentences that, had they been geared at anyone else, would surely be insults was shocking, and you found yourself less and less able to keep these two aspects of your partner compatible in your mind. Even less did you find the ability to simply brush it off.
You didn’t know why it was a comment about your socks that finally caused you to break. Really, it was too juvenile.
Laundry in your shared apartment was often seen as a punishment, the chore that each of you pushed onto the other. As such there was often a pile of laundry in the laundry basket, and incredibly slim pickings in your drawers. That being the case you often found yourself wearing mismatched socks. Perhaps it was a little odd, or a little childish, but it was certainly preferrable to spending all day at the river scrubbing your hands red. Who cared anyways? No one would notice such a small thing, especially once you had put your boots on.
However, nothing could get past Childe’s wicked sense of humor, and apparently your clothing choices were prime fodder for him.
“Nice socks.”
“Oh, thanks,” you replied, already having a sense of where it was going. The smirk that played across your partner’s face was full of mischief, and usually that only led to one place.
“I think that you’ll be quite the icon among toddlers all throughout Liyue. People will be asking you if you’re lost all day, or maybe they’ll ask you how it feels like to be nine.”
It was really a silly comment to get so upset over, such a small, insignificant thing to cry over. Yet there you were, standing in the kitchen, frozen in horror as your vision became fuzzy with tears. Unsure about any other course of action you buried your face in your hands and prayed Childe wouldn’t think about what you were doing.
“What’s wrong? Are you alright?”
You could hear the panic and concern mingling in Childe’s voice. Almost immediately a warm hand was on your shoulder, and you were suddenly flooded with the presence of the person you loved so much, the person you were now crying about. You could tell Childe was saying something, was whispering soft words of comfort, but in the moment your thoughts felt all too loud. Overwhelmed by the situation you turned into your partner’s shoulder and let yourself cry.
Eventually sensing you had lost all your tears Childe drew back slightly.
“Would you like a glass of water?”
“Yes please,” you replied, voice still small. Nodding Childe moved towards the kitchen. Within a few moments he was back, glass in hand.
“Was it the teasing?” He asked as you drank. Whatever you had to say about your partner, he certainly wasn’t stupid.
“Yes,” you mumbled, nodding for affect.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I had gone too far. I promise I’ll be more careful from now on.”
“But Childe, it, it’s not just this time.”
“What do you mean?” Childe asked, voice flooding through with concern once more.
“It’s, I’m sorry, it’s just that, it’s all the time. Not all the time, every time you tease me. It’s not your fault! Of course, it’s not, it’s my fault. I don’t know, I just, it really hurts sometimes, all the time? I don’t know. I just, I’m sorry.”
Childe’s expression was one of abject horror. Taking your hand, he rubbed small circles on the top with his thumb. “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize how much it was affecting you. I should have been more careful.”
“But I don’t want you to feel like you have to, I don’t know, I know you tease everyone, I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
“You aren’t making me uncomfortable.” Childe’s voice seemed just as hurried as yours. “It makes me more uncomfortable to think that you’ve been burying this the whole time. You’re damn good at hiding things you know. But this isn’t a war or something, you don’t have to hide what you’re feeling, for whatever reason. Better if you tell me, y’know?”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize. Doesn’t look good on you, or sound good. I’d rather hear you happy.” Childe leaned in to press a soft kiss against your forehead. “I love you, okay? You mean more to me than a little bit of teasing.”
“You don’t think I’m being weak?” You managed to make out as your anxiety lessened its grip on you.
“Weak? Girlie you’re one of the strongest people I know! Weak my ass. If you wanted to rule the world you could give me a run for my money. Of course, I’d win though. I mean, I would be there right with you.”
“I know you would,” you smiled, despite yourself.
You knew that Childe probably would still retain the odd sense of humor and levity he already had. Old habits die hard and all that. Still, you had managed to say what had been haunting you all this time and, more than that, you had been assured that you were good enough, strong enough. Those few words, no matter how short, meant the world to you.

[Tales from the Pack] Joshua: Second Chance (Part Seven)
Tumblr media
Characters: Joshua x female reader
Genre/warnings: werewolf au, fantasy, fluff in the beginning, then just angst, then slight fluff at the end????, joshua is an asshole!!!!
Word count: 3,013
Summary: After his mate died, Joshua always blamed himself and never wanted to imprint again. However, fate has other ideas when he meets you: a young, energetic werecoyote that’s quite the opposite of him. He insists he doesn’t want a new mate – nobody’s even sure if he’s ready for a new one – but he can’t ignore his instincts.
a/n: things in bold are in english
Previous | Next | Second Chance Masterlist
Another day, another morning where you lay on your side, staring at the wall as sunlight flowed in through the window. You never got out of bed before Joshua did, who was still lightly snoring behind you. The barrier of pillows he always made was already a mess, the pillows scattered across the bed from him kicking them around in his sleep or rolling on top of them -- it definitely wasn’t you because you were very careful to not cross the boundary he set.
But you staying in bed wasn’t because you wanted to spend as much time as you could beside him. It wasn’t because being in bed with him was the closest you got to him. That was nice, yes, but it wasn’t why you continued to lay in bed until Joshua eventually woke up and trudged out of the room.
You felt the bed shift beside you, and then you felt Joshua’s warm arm sling around you, pulling you to him as his nose buried in the back of your neck.
It was because you didn’t want Josh knowing that you knew he did this. Every. Single. Night.
You used to wake up because of Josh wrapping his arms around you in his sleep, nosing the nape of your neck until he settled back into his deep sleep. Now, you sometimes woke up before it happened, staring at the wall or the ceiling until he inevitably rolled closer to you and pulled you into him. Sometimes he did it in the middle of the night, and you’d drift back to sleep in the comfort of your mate’s arms. But you still always woke up before he did, his body still pressed against yours.
And then you’d pretend to be asleep when he woke up because you knew he’d get even more angry if he knew you knew what he did when he was sleeping. What he didn’t know would keep him...well, not happy, but less angry.
You laid there, feeling Joshua’s warm breath on the top of your back as you thought about just...everything. Between how you ended up in this country and getting into this situation and how much you’d already learned about not only werewolves but also yourself, to what the future would hold for you. Deep down, you did know everything would be okay. You just didn’t know the path it would take to get there. You also didn’t know if by the time things worked themselves out if it would be too late for you. Even you were surprised by how little that thought scared you.
You weren’t sure how much time had passed when Joshua finally woke up, untangling himself from you and the blankets before getting up and grumbling to himself as he walked to the door. He didn’t even hesitate before carelessly shutting it behind him.
He always assumed the bedroom door slamming was what woke you up.
-
Joshua woke up with a splitting headache. He kept having dreams where Lilly was there. He’d wake up with a headache every single time. They were becoming more frequent, but he was never able to speak to her. She’d be standing where she was buried, and he’d try to run to her but it was like he was running in slow motion. He couldn’t even shift to get to her. Her lips would be moving, and she’d be staring at him like she wanted to tell him something urgent, but he couldn’t hear it or get to her in time before he woke up.
What was that that Kyung had mentioned about seeing dead people in dreams? And then waking up with a headache? There was no way that old wives tale was true, right? He’d humored her when Jiung died, but did Josh actually believe in that? If that were the case, what would be the point of not even being able to talk to Lilly to get closure? No, his dreams were just that: dreams.
Or nightmares, however one wanted to look at it.
Pressing the heel of his palm to his forehead, Joshua made it down the stairs and went to the kitchen. He wished he woke up earlier so he wouldn’t have to deal with his brothers that were already in the kitchen, talking and making breakfast. When he turned the corner, he saw Seungcheol, Jooyeon, Wonwoo, Soomin, Chan, and Junhui talking and laughing together. Soomin was standing at the stove, making breakfast for Wonwoo, who stood by her at the counter, holding an empty plate. Seungcheol was using the burner next to her, making two omelets for him and his mate.
“What, no family breakfast?” Joshua asked.
Seungcheol frowned, “You guys are capable of making you own food.”
“Where’s the apple of your eye?” Wonwoo smirked. “Still asleep in your bed, I presume?”
Josh grimaced at the younger wolf, “This isn’t the morning, Wonwoo.”
“Did you really get her all that stuff from the market and think we would let you live it down?” Jun snickered.
“Yeah, that just proved you have it bad,” Chan agreed.
A low growl immitted from his chest, warning the group to stop, “I have a headache, this isn’t the day to fuck with me, alright?”
“Ooh, so scary,” Wonwoo sighed, clearly unimpressed as he rolled his eyes and focused back on his mate.
“You’ve been letting her live here for how long now?” Jun asked. “You sleep in the same bed as her now, we all know there’s no way you can manage to control your instincts in your sleep so that stupid pillow barrier isn’t doing anything for you. Josh, you say one thing but do the opposite. Actions speak way louder than words. You lo--”
“Don’t,” Joshua cut him off sharply, golden eyes shifting to red as he stared down Jun.
“Guys, I really think--”
“Then prove us wrong, Shua,” Chan cut off the alpha, feeling a little too ballsy with the alpha in the room. “Show us you really hate her. Because not a single person believe it.”
And poor you just had to walk in at the worst time. It was at that moment, listening to Suvi talk excitedly about the date Chan had taken her on the day prior, that you walked into the kitchen and five pairs of eyes -- Soomin was focused on her pancakes -- locked on you. All of them went wide.
Then Joshua turned around.
You were too busy paying attention to Suvi that you didn’t hear the conversation in the kitchen. Had you, you probably would’ve stayed away. But you were happy for Suvi and wanted to hear her story.
Besides, at the end of it all, you figured what was about to happen in that kitchen was bound to happen eventually. Joshua was bound to snap. It was only a matter of time...
“Oh, shit...” Chan swore under his breath.
Joshua’s red eyes locked on you. Between his brothers egging him on, and the dream he’d been having, and his headache, he was done. He marched right up to you, and for some reason, your first instinct was to stand in front of Suvi. Did you think Joshua would lash out physically? No. But you didn’t like the way he looked at that moment.
Did Joshua’s pack think he’d lash out physically? Absolutely. He’d done it plenty of times before. It was what he was known for. Which was why the four boys all took several steps closer to you, too. They still stayed behind Josh, giving the two of you space, but they were ready to pounce on him at any moment.
“Get out,” he growled at you.
“Josh--”
Joshua held up a hand to silence the alpha, his eyes never leaving you as he repeated, “Get out!”
The force of his shout was enough to shake the hanging pots and pans in the kitchen, and to even make your eyes close. You felt Suvi clutch the back of your shirt as she flinched, and when you opened your eyes, you noticed Chan was gone. You felt Suvi’s grip suddenly disappear, and then the pair were gone.
The kitchen was silent. Even Soomin and Jooyeon could hear the doors opening from upstairs as members of the pack tried to silently go down the stairs to see what the commotion was.
Despite Joshua’s forceful tone, you calmly asked, “Why?”
Maybe that wasn’t your best move. Maybe you should’ve just said, ‘okay,’ and left. But you felt you needed the explanation -- not that it was really your house so it wasn’t your place for a reason to be kicked out, but still.
Joshua let out a dry laugh, “Why? Are you serious? _____, I’ve been literally telling you this whole time! Are you just that stupid?”
You thought by now maybe his insults would’ve worn you down and you’d start taking them to heart. They didn’t. You just stood there and blinked at him, waiting for him to continue.
“I don’t need a new mate!” he burst. He slowly stalked toward you, eyes never leaving yours and only turning redder and angrier by the sentence. “I don’t want one! Lilly is my mate, okay? Lilly Green! Not you! I don’t care if you or my pack or fate thinks she isn’t just because she’s gone, but she is and she always will be! And if me denying you and getting us both killed is what’ll prove it, then fuck it! Whatever shitty higher power out there can strike me down now! I don’t need you and I especially don’t fucking want you. So get the fuck out of my house!”
You didn’t realize you had been backing up until your back hit the wall behind you, and Joshua had cornered you.
He was suddenly pulled away from you, Wonwoo and Minghao holding onto him as Jihoon stepped between the two of you, pressing a hand to the older wolf’s chest.
“Joshua, that’s enough!” he barked.
You finally noticed that the entire pack had gathered in and outside the doorway to the kitchen -- except Soonyoung, who was ‘out’. Seungcheol had moved himself to block Soomin and Jooyeon. Kyung stood protectively in the doorway, eyeing Joshua. Wolves and mates both tried to peer around her shoulders and see what was going on.
“I want her out of the house and out of my life!” Joshua shouted at you around his alpha.
Jihoon shouted back at him, telling him to cut the shit. His brothers were telling him he was taking things to far. Everyone seemed to be trying to talk over each other, the house getting louder and louder.
But over all the commotion, the wolves picked up on a soft, “Okay.”
Everyone fell silent, and all eyes went to you.
“What?” Jihoon asked.
You nodded once, “Okay. I’ll go. I assume you’ll want to keep the things from the market, so I’ll leave immediately.”
“_____--”
You ignored Jihoon, looking to Seungcheol and nodding to him, “Thank you for letting me stay here.”
You turned to the rest of the pack in the hall, “It was nice meeting all of you. Thank you for everything.”
“_____,” Kyung spoke up as you approached her to leave, “you don’t have to do this.”
“Please excuse me,” you said.
She studied you for a moment, maybe hoping she’d find something in your eyes that said you didn’t want to go or any sort of hint that she would be able to persuade you to stay. But truthfully, you fully intended to leave every single time Josh told you to. If that was what he wanted, you would do it. And she could see that in your eyes. You weren’t upset or angry or confused. You were just...taking it.
So, with a sigh, Kyung stepped out of the way. The rest of the pack followed, making a path for you to move through them and walk down the hall. They watched you open the door, step outside, and close it behind you. They all stayed silent and unmoving as the wolves listened to your footsteps fade until they couldn’t hear them anymore.
You were gone.
The pack in the kitchen were still frozen in their places. Jihoon’s hand hadn’t moved from Joshua’s chest. Wonwoo and Minghao were still holding his arms and shoulders. Seungcheol still stood in front of the two mates.
Joshua hadn’t moved, either. He didn’t go tell you how stupid you were and yank you back inside. No, this time, he let you leave.
Jihoon let out a deep sigh before he glared up at Josh, and the wolves who could see him swore his eyes were a little glossier than normal, “You really fucked up, Joshua Hong.”
And the he ripped his arm away and stalked out of the kitchen.
Wonwoo let go of his arm, and then Minghao did, too. Wonwoo turned off the stove, moved the pan to the cold burner on the back, and led Soomin out of the kitchen wordlessly.
“Joshua,” Seungcheol spoke up as he took his mate by the waist, “we understand that Lilly isn’t someone you’ll ever get over. Nobody is telling you to forget about her. But all _____ did was be patient with you. All she did was be nice to you. She never lashed out at you once despite everything you put her through. And this is how you’re going to handle things?”
He scoffed as he copied what Wonwoo had done with his breakfast, before leading Jooyeon toward the doorway. But he paused to look Joshua in the eye, and Seungcheol looked less than impressed with him.
“I thought you were a piece of work when I first met you. Even when you went as far as to fight with Soonyoung, I never felt the way I do now toward you. You two went at it so bad that you lost part of your ear, and even then, I wasn’t as disappointed as I am now. Even with Lilly, I didn’t feel anything negative toward you. Because I knew that was an accident. But this? You’re choosing to act like this. This is on purpose. And honestly...I hate the person you’re choosing to be. Right now, I really do hate you, Josh.”
And then he left, too.
Slowly, the rest of the pack left, mumbling about how they were disappointed or angry with Josh. And he stood in the same spot, unmoving and unreactive. Until it was just Kyung in the doorway with Hansol slightly behind her. He was holding her hand as she looked at him, and she looked disappointed like almost everyone else -- because some of the pack just looked straight up pissed.
"You saw what happened when I acted like that,” she told him. Despite the emotion in her eyes, her tone contained none. “I had nobody on my side. I was alone. I was lucky I didn’t push Hansol away.”
“This is different,” Joshua finally muttered.
“No it isn’t. It’s the same, just reversed. And you know what? Hansol at least knew about the pull. He knows about werewolves. She doesn’t know anything about you or herself. For all she knows, she has no chance and she’s going to give up -- and before you say that’s what you want, think about what Lilly wants.”
“No,” Joshua growled, making Hansol take a step forward. “You don’t get to talk about Lilly like you knew her.”
“I know your mate wouldn’t want you to be bitter and alone,” she stated. “You don’t scare me Josh. I’m above you. If anything, you should be scared of me. But no, you claim to not be afraid of anything. You think you’re this big, tough wolf because you’re the oldest one here. And sure, maybe you’re not scared of dying or being hurt. But the way you treated _____? Yeah, you’re afraid. And that’s no excuse to treat her that way.”
“You did it to Hansol,” he grumbled. “I was sill there for you when you almost killed my brother, and now you’re going to reprimand me?”
“I owned up to what I did,” she said, her voice changing to sound more like an alpha. There was a slight growl to it, too, that made Joshua’s instincts tell him to back down. “You know you’re doing the wrong thing and you’re just being ignorant. We’re not the same.”
And then she turned and walked away, leading Hansol behind her.
And even Hansol, sweet and understanding Hansol who stood by Kyung when she was mourning and trying to push him way, didn’t spare his brother a glance as he left.
-
Joshua’s breath came out in huffs as he ran. He pushed through shrubs, ducked under branches, and shoved twigs aside that just barely whacked him in the face. He’d visited the Capitol a couple times now, but he’d never been in this area. It was still in the woods, but it was on the other side. None of it was familiar.
But the scent he smelled was.
He wasn’t sure how long it had been, but it couldn’t have been very long since the moon and stars still shone brightly in the night sky. He came up to a small cave that didn’t look like it would be very deep. Just deep enough for someone to hide in. Definitely not big enough for a werewolf to comfortably sleep in. But maybe...
A werecoyote.
Joshua ducked his head as he entered, leaning at almost a 90 degree angle as he walked deeper into the shallow cave.
He expected to find you there. He was tracking you, after all. But what he didn’t expect was to see you sitting up, eyes wide open like you never went to sleep.
“What’re you doing?” he asked you, his voice quiet but still had a little bit of a tone like he wanted to be rude.
And he almost wanted to laugh when you replied, “Waiting. I knew you were coming sooner or later.”

a little more touch my body // b.b
summary: babie!!! hi!! may i please request a fic based on into you by ariana grande pls? i'll leave the rest up to you, please surprise me (you can also choose if you want to write it for sam, steve, or bucky) thank you so much !!! <3
warnings: lil bit of sexy times, fatws spoilers if you haven’t watched, mentions of alcohol (beer), language
word count: 2.7k
a/n: i chose to write this for bucky!! hope you all enjoy!
Tumblr media
“Well, don’t you two look like a sight for sore eyes?”
You huffed out a laugh at your own comment as you stepped down onto the boat, making sure to grip the ledge behind you to avoid losing your balance as the structure bobbed against the tides.
Sam and Bucky sat looking exhausted, each with a beer in their hand, faces slick with sweat and grease. You could nearly smell them from here.
“Where were you all afternoon? Said you’d help,” Bucky raised an eyebrow as he looked you up and down, beer bottle against his lips as he took another sip. As if he knew what he was doing, he leaned his arm back behind him, muscles and tanned skin glistening under the late afternoon sunlight. You peeled your eyes away from the sight just in time to catch the end of his question.
You placed your hands on your hips, giving him a grin, “Sorry to ditch, I was in town with Sarah picking up some stuff. But clearly, I’m devastated that I couldn’t be here to get all gross with you guys.”
Part of you was rather bummed you missed the action. You’d have loved nothing more than to be working alongside Bucky, both of you working up a sweat and sneaking in little touches here and there while Sam looked the opposite way. Little touches that would never really amount to more, but were fun in the moment.
You couldn’t count how many weeks — no, scratch that — months, that you and Bucky had been building up this tension. The winks across the room, the lingering touches when you walked by one another, the inappropriate innuendos and jokes when no one was around. Except that one time that you thought no one was around and ended up subjecting poor Sam to your crude jokes over your earpiece.
It was torture, but the best kind. Bucky knew exactly how to wind you up, and vice versa. Did you ever think this would amount to more? Probably not. You had overheard countless conversations between Buck and Steve about how he wasn’t ready to take a step towards intimacy just yet. Not so soon after regaining his mind and coming back from five years out of extinction, to be more specific.
You couldn’t blame him, though. And you weren’t going to push for more. Not if it made him uncomfortable. No, for now, you were having a blast bubbling up the sexual tension.
“I see that,” Sam motioned his bottle in your direction, “This is an act of betrayal, I hope you know.”
You rolled your eyes, sitting down between the two. The wooden surface was boiling under your legs, so you lifted your knees to keep your skin from burning.
“Oh, drama queen,” you grumbled, reaching your hand towards the cooler. You hadn’t done much physical work today, but the weather was still impossibly hot and a nice cool drink would help for sure.
As soon as you lifted the cooler lid, it came slamming down.
“Buck, what the hell—,” you turned your gaze to the super soldier, a small smirk on his lips.
“Cool drinks are for the workers, sorry,” he was clearly fighting a shit-eating grin, much to your annoyance. His hand was gripped tightly around the cooler lid, thumb brushing against your own skin.
“You two are going to drink all six?” you scoffed, tilting your head to the side as if challenging him.
He raised his eyebrows and nodded his head, pulling his hand away from yours and taking another sip of his beer as if emphasizing his point before speaking, “I think you forget how high my tolerance is.”
“Ah, of course,” you nodded slowly, “How could I forget? Silly me.”
Bucky shot you a wink, leaning back against the edge of the boat. The angle of the sun was hitting him perfectly and you wondered if the heavens above were testing you. The dark blue of his shirt accented his eyes, shining brightly as they looked you over. His dark hair had a few natural highlights — probably thanks to spending nearly a week here under the Louisiana sunshine.
He was so distracting you nearly forgot Sam was behind you until Sarah called his name.
“Sam, can you help me out for a second?” her voice was distant over the sound of the water hitting the boat and your own heart beating a million miles an hour.
He stood up with a grunt, following after her. And leaving you and Bucky alone.
“Just a sip?” you asked, eyes darting back to the cooler before meeting his again, “I’ll take one little sip and then you can have the rest of the bottle.” A fake pout made its way to your lips and you had to fight a smirk at the way his eyes darted down to watch before snapping back up to yours.
“Nope,” he popped the p, giving you another wink. As he brought the bottle back up to his lips, you scooted closer to him, reaching your hand out and taking it out of his grasp before it could reach his lips.
“What—,”
Before he could finish his sentence, you brought the bottle to your lips, giving him a wink before taking a rather large sip. The taste wasn’t great — it was the cheap beer that you guys had picked up yesterday at the corner store — but you were just trying to rile him up. You hadn’t really wanted the drink that badly.
Bucky’s eyes were practically glued to you. You could swear he didn’t even blink as you maintained eye contact, handing him the bottle back with a small wink.
His tongue slid out to wet his lips, suddenly fidgety under the sun. You internally pat yourself on the back, but you didn’t show it. Instead, you maintained a steady staring contest with Buck, not sure who was going to crack first.
God, your heart was beating so fast. Your skin was so warm. You could feel the back of your neck begin to sweat and you could swear that your hands were just as clammy. How did you ever get anything done around this man before?
“I feel like I’m interrupting,” Sam — curse him and his horrible timing — stepped back onto the boat, causing it to sway a bit under his steps.
“What? — It’s — we’re fine,” Bucky stuttered with a hoarse voice, clearing his throat as if you hadn’t noticed. Once again, an internal pat on the back.
“Yeah, okay,” Sam chuckled, “Whatever you guys say. Just keep it PG around my nephews.”
You should be embarrassed by Sam’s jabs, but you couldn’t really bring yourself to feel that way. Instead, you were only focused on how close Bucky was to you. You could smell him — he didn’t smell too great right now, to be honest — but that wasn’t the point. Publicly, you guys never really sat or stayed close to each other. It was more professional if you guys didn’t show whatever was happening between the two of you, really.
But now, relaxed and away from danger, you were both letting your guard down. Sam was sitting across from you, poking fun, but neither of you scooted away from the other like you usually would. It was nice, you thought. This little sense of normalcy. Feeling like you were just two adults insanely attracted to each other instead of two busy Avengers on a break.
You brought yourself back to the moment as you stood up, giving them both a little smile, “I’ll give you guys some guy time, I’ll go help Sarah with dinner.”
Sam gave you a little wave, Bucky keeping his mouth shut as you made your way off the boat, holding onto the little railing as you made your way back onto land. You pulled your shirt down, covering the little bit of your stomach that had been exposed while scooting closer to Bucky.
Shaking your head and trying to un-rile yourself, you made your way over to the Wilson household, a small skip in your step as you did so.
Tumblr media
The lasagna and garlic bread that you and Sarah collaborated on went down quick — unsurprisingly, since Sarah had more tips and tricks in the kitchen than you could possibly hope to count — and before you knew it, you were bidding everyone goodnight.
Your pull out couch in the basement was calling your name and normally you couldn’t wait to get under the covers and snooze right off. Except tonight, as soon as you got under the covers, you felt wide awake.
Bucky was in the other room, a small door separating the both of you. You didn’t usually talk after everyone had gone to bed, not wanting to wake anyone up or prevent either of you from getting the proper sleep, but tonight you couldn’t help it. You were practically itching to go over and see him, and you doubted you’d get any sleep if you didn’t. It was like a magnet was pulling the two of you together and the harder you pulled away, the stronger the tug was.
You slipped on a pair of socks after getting out of the bed, the fresh air of the basement hitting your body like a gentle embrace. It had been stupidly warm under the blankets just moments before, so the coolness was very much welcome against your skin.
Your footsteps were muffled by the carpeted floor as you made your way to the door separating you both, knuckles gently knocking against the wood before you could take a second to think about what you were doing. If Bucky was asleep, you’d just be waking him up, and that wouldn’t be very nice, would it? However, if he was awake, what would you even say?
“Yeah?”
Bucky’s voice was soft on the other side of the door, and the creaking hinges broke the beautiful peace as you opened it up, eyes struggling to see in the dark. A small lamp was lit on Bucky’s bedside table, his own blankets tossed off the bed as he sat on the edge. He wore a pair of Sam’s pyjama pants — which you had teased him about a couple of times now — but he wasn’t wearing a shirt. That fact alone was enough to get you to stumble on your own two feet.
“Were you sleeping?” you asked, trying to keep your voice as quiet as possible. You remembered Sarah mentioning the basement ceiling wasn’t properly insulated and voices very easily carried throughout the house.
“No,” he replied, eyes meeting yours in the comfortable darkness of the room. You suddenly felt awfully nervous under his gaze, picking at your fingernails as you leaned against the doorframe.
“Okay, that’s good,” you nodded awkwardly, mind still completely blank on whatever it was that you wanted to say. Bucky didn’t seem to mind the awkward silence, though, his eyes scanning over your body slowly just to make sure you were alright.
“I don’t really know why I’m here,” you admitted, finally picking your gaze up off the floor to look at him. His lips curved up into a small smirk and he patted the spot next to him on the bed. Trudging over slowly, you could feel the temperature in the room rise up by what felt like a thousand degrees before you finally sat next to him. He smelled better this time — thanks to the shower that you were so tempted to hop in on — and you could feel the comfortable warmth of his skin next to you as the mattress dipped under your weight.
“That’s okay,” he replied after a good long moment, “You don’t have to have a reason.”
You sat facing him, close enough that you could see the steady rise and fall of his chest, his skin holding a warm glow in the cozy atmosphere of the room. He was so painfully beautiful that you didn’t think words could capture the image.
Feeling awfully brave, you slid one of your hands over to his, your warm fingers sliding against the coolness of his vibranium ones. You knew he couldn’t feel your touch, but he shivered anyway, causing you to slide your hand a little closer to his actual skin. His hand reached quickly across and grabbed yours, intertwining your fingers together. Your head fell against his shoulder, resting your forehead against the spot where skin met metal. Without thinking, you lifted your head and pressed a kiss against the same spot, immediately regretting it when you felt his entire body tense up.
“Sorry — I don’t know what I was thinking,” you stuttered, pulling away.
Before you could get too far, you felt both of Bucky’s hands slide around your waist, tugging you onto his lap in an effortless motion. Your thighs landed on either side of him — practically straddling him — and your chest was nearly flushed against his. His forehead fell against yours and you swore you could hear his thoughts. The internal battle he was having with himself on how far he was willing to take this.
You brought one of your hands up to his hair, raking your fingernails against the sensitive skin at the base of his neck and watched his shoulders sag as he let out a sigh. How you two could go from being ready to rip each other’s clothes off on the boat to this, being intimate and close without having done anything yet, you’d never understand.
His hands slid under your pyjama top, gripping your waist in a way to let you know he wasn’t planning on letting go. And you were more than okay with that.
“Buck,” you whispered, the words hanging in the air before he pulled his forehead away from yours and met your lips with his. His kiss was hot — heavy, and you could feel just how much he had been holding back. He gripped you tight, making sure you felt exactly how badly he wanted this. And you felt the same, hands on either side of his face as you pressed your lips and body against his.
You guys went from having an intimate, gentle touching moment, to having a battle of teeth and tongues within thirty seconds. He let out a low groan as you tried to get closer to him, rocking your hips against his. You hadn’t totally done it on purpose, your goal mostly just to be as close to him as possible, but you weren’t regretting the action one bit.
His hands slid further up your shirt until it was tugged off of your body, breaking the feverish kiss for one quick moment before reconnecting at full force. Your mind was blank, numb, but your belly was erupting with every butterfly in existence as he slid his hands around your exposed torso. You didn’t even register the coolness of the metal — too focused on how hot you felt at the moment. He was grabbing at every bit of you that he possibly could, and you were doing the same to him.
For someone who probably didn’t do much self care, his skin was beautifully soft under your touch, hands sliding smoothly down his back and chest as you continued to kiss the life out of each other. It was intoxicating and you swore you’d be addicted to him after tonight.
He somehow managed to flip the both of you over so that he was hovering on top of you, using his forearms to hold himself up as his lips trailed sloppy kisses down your jawline, your neck, to your collarbones. Everything he did just felt so good, so right, that you could hardly remember where you even were at the moment.
Your eyes fluttered shut as he continued down on his path, leaving kisses in every possible spot that was available.
There was no way in hell you were returning to your own bed tonight.

[Caught] Park Seonghwa x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seonghwa threw his phone down next to him with an annoyed huff. He hadn’t been in the best of moods these days and it was because he hasn’t seen or felt you in what felt like forever.
He didn’t really blame you. He knew that you were really worried about the time zones and it being super late where he was whereas it was only lunchtime for you. He hardly got any sleep either way, but he’d rather spend the time talking to you than just laying there.
And to add to his list of struggles, he was incredibly sexually frustrated. He really wanted you to come, obviously not just for that reason, but you ended up not being able to at the last minute.
Having you with him would make everything so much easier. He would be able to sleep comfortably with you in his arms. He would have you encourage him when he feels off. He would have you at times like this… where his cock was so hard it physically hurt because he hadn’t done anything about it because he just wanted it to be you who took care of it for him.
He grabbed his phone and scrolled up to where you sent him pictures of the things you did throughout the days. His lip was between his teeth as he looked at the pictures you sent him before you went to sleep that previous night.
You had a pair of his boxers on with his favorite hoodie that he left for you that smelt like him and his cologne.
Suddenly, Seonghwa couldn’t take it anymore. His breath was heavy as he slipped his pajama pants off. He tossed the phone to the side, unaware that he accidentally pressed the button to the voice recording app.
Instead, he imagined the night before he left for tour. The two of you stayed up all night probably being way too loud considering the other members were trying to sleep before a long flight.
Instead, he imagined the night before he left for tour. The two of you stayed up all night probably being way too loud considering the other members were trying to sleep before a long flight.
Your moans echoed in his head as he sloppily thrust into his hand. Deep groans and moans filled the hotel room along with desperate moans of your name.
Seonghwa's mind was so clouded with thoughts of you he didn’t even hear the ding of his phone as the voice recording was sent to you.
Back in Korea, you were basically in the same boat. You’ve never been so horny in your entire life. It’s been two months since Seonghwa touched you… since you’ve heard his moans… since you’ve cum. If you were to get any type of stimulation at this point, you’d probably cum immediately.
Your thoughts were interrupted as you got a message from Seonghwa. You huffed slightly because you knew it was well past midnight and he had to be up really early but you opened it anyway.
Your eyes widened as you heard a deep moan come from your phone. You immediately stopped the recording and pressed the FaceTime button.
You gave him no time to answer before you slipped your hand in your pants. It took Seonghwa way too long to answer but when he did his face was red as he just stared at the phone, “Y-Yeah?”
“S-Seonghwa! Shut up- don’t pretend. Please just let me see.” Seonghwa was confused about how you knew what he was doing but he didn’t hesitate as he flipped the camera.
You groaned as Seonghwa’s thick red cock appeared on the screen. You let out a loud moan as your hand began to stroke your sensitive spot, already beyond sensitive. Your hand was hardly holding onto the phone and it was only showing the ceiling, “Y/n, darling. L-Let me see your face. Haven’t seen you in so long.”
Your eyes are glossy and your eyebrows are furrowed as you angle the phone back to show your already fucked out expression. Seonghwa lets out a long-drawn-out moan, “F-Fuck! You’re so p-pretty-”
“H-Hwa! Haven’t t-touched myself in such a long time! Fuckfuck!” Your back was already arching and your legs were shaking pathetically.
“S’Okay. Neither have I… been waiting for you. Can't wait to see you again darling. M-Miss you so much.” His hand moved swiftly up and down his cock in fast movements.
“C-Can’t wait for you to f-fuck me. Can’t wait to f-feel you inside of me again.” You let out a choked sob as you were on the verge of cumming, “Hwa- Please. Please-”
Seonghwa felt his cock twitch in his hand from your soft pleads. Go ahead and cum for me, darling. Go ahead and let go.” He knew you were trying to wait for him. He himself could hardly wait. Precum was constantly leaking and he was letting out guttural groans as his eyes were glued to your fucked out face.
You threw your head back and let out a series of drawn out moans while mumbling that you were cumming to Seonghwa, “C-Cumming- Cumming! I-I’m cumming. Seonghwaseonghwaseonghwa!”
The combination of your pretty face along with your pretty moans was too much for Seonghwa to handle. You forced your eyes to open as Seonghwa stated he was cumming, so you could see spurts of cum landing on his hand, stomach, and thighs. You listened to Seonghwa’s deep moans with shaky breaths as he came down from his high.
The two of you stayed like that for a minute before Seonghwa spoke up, “Darling… how did you know what I was doing?”
You stared at the screen with a confused expression, “Isn’t that why you sent that voice memo?”

Part Seven: Regrets
Atsumu x fem reader, Suna x rem reader, Hinata x fem reader
A/N: guess who’s fridge went out and won’t be able to get a new one till the 15th 🙋🏻‍♀️😩. Sorry this chapter is shorter than usual it’s kind of a filler But next chapter should be pretty long. I know a couple of people were wonder what happened with him so here we are with the return of a character. I might set up a poll for who should YN end up with so look out for that. I’m going to start writing my next story soon it’s going to be another angst!
Warning: Angst that’s about it. Maybe a lil lewd language.
Part Six: Promises
Part Eight: Hope
Tumblr media
He laid in his empty bed staring up at his ceiling the only sound filtering through the room was the echo of the tv in the livingroom. He didn’t have the energy to go shut it off, plus he found comfort the noise it brought he found the silence unbearable. He sighed as he looked at the open space next to him. He never took much stock in how empty it felt without you next to him. The smell of your shampoo had long since vanished from the pillows. He closed his eyes and tried to imagine you were here next to him your head resting on his chest your hands interwoven talking about your plans for the day but while the memory played in his head clear as day his body had forgotten your warmth. It wasn’t too hard to picture , you had spent several morning just like that wrapped in each other’s embrace. He thinks to the mornings he’d walk out of his early showers to find you leaning against the kitchen counter drinking your morning coffee. He can still remember how you enjoyed your first cup of coffee to start your day. You liked your coffee sweet , but to were you could still taste the rich coffee flavor, always pairing it with an array of creamers. He remembers when you first started staying over at his place and he realized your affinity for flavored coffee he went out to the store and stocked up on as many flavors he could find in hopes you’d stay for more coffee before heading off to school. He loved that sight in the morning walking out and seeing you clad in just his shirt your hair a mess from last nights activities. But you weren’t here to have coffee in the morning, all of the creamers starting to expire, and he had no one to blame but himself.
Atsumu has spent the last seven month alone. There were a few nights he’d tried to pick up girls just to try and fill the gigantic hole left in his life by your absence but those all ended in disaster. One night he tried to have a careless hook up it didn’t get past the front door when he accidentally moaned your name when the random girl had cupped his manhood. She wasn’t very happy about that. He received a knee to the groin as she fleed the house. Another time he tried he was able to keep his mouth shut from making any mistakes after choosing a girl who was nothing like you but then he had another problem. He couldn’t get it up. You plagued his thoughts. You were the only woman his body wanted. It was quite embarrassing.
After Suna rocked his shit he finally started to snap out of his self pity. Why the hell was he crying? Because he was lonely? He can only imagine how lonely you felt every night he didn’t come home. He sighs running his hands down his face he really was a piece of shit he thinks. He didn’t treat you the way you deserved and he knows that. He knows he was selfish and inconsiderate. He knows he’s way to late but he regrets everything he did. Every single mistake eats away at him. None of it was worth it. Every flirt, every compliment that boosted his ego, the rush of excitement of being with someone else it was all worthless compared to being with you. He thinks back to everynight he stayed out late or he canceled dates, about the pain that hid behind your eyes. Now that his head wasn’t stuck up his ass he could finally see all of the misery he put you through. And he hated himself for it.
The setter wanted nothing more that to fix all of his mistakes, but he knew he was too late. Atsumu didn’t expect you to ever in a thousand years forgive him or even in a million years want him back, but he knows he can’t just do nothing. He’d spend the rest of his days trying to make amends. After Suna had pointed out how horrible he was for not looking for you he did everything to find you. He started by calling the University to see if you had been attending class but even with the title of fiancé , which he understood was false by not adding former to the title, they refused him any information to protect your privacy. He had long noticed the empty bank account but he wasn’t worried about that the money it was the least you deserved. Plus the fantasy of making you his wife and calling you YN Miya was nothing but a pipe dream now. So he’s sure the money would do you better. He tried to follow any money trail you left. He found the hotel that you must have run to that night. But even that was a bust leading to a dead end. He only knew one more course of action. He called your parents. They refused to answer his calls. Eventually he drove down to Hyogo by himself. The setter stood there on the front steps he’d stand on every morning when he’d walk you to school. It felt so familiar to knock on the cedar door, but everything felt so distant from his memories. Still he wasn’t quite sure what he expected, maybe for you to answer the door with a bright smile like you had all those years ago yet what he received was your mother standing there with a look of disgust present. He didn’t get a word in before she slammed the door in his face. He begged for her come back to please talk to him he just needed answers but he only received silence. He stayed there for close to an hour trying to get just a morsel of information. It was useless they refused to speak to him. That was his last idea he could come up with for finding you. Full of dread he made his way to his car ready to make the long drive home. The next day he received a phone call from his brother.
“Hey Samu what’s u-” the blonde started before his grey haired twin interrupted his greeting going straight to the point.
“She’s alive and fine,” Atsumus heart stuttered before he breathed a sigh of relief. He opened his mouth to ask his next question but Osamu cut him off yet again already knowing what his twin was going to ask.
“No we don’t know where she is. Kita-Senpai went to her parents and all they’d state was she was alive and out of harm, not that I’d tell you where she is if I knew,” Osamu’s tone was sharp. Atsumu knew he deserved that. His brother had made him well aware of his dissatisfaction in the blondes actions. He had to thank the his brother though, as upset he was with him he still looked out for him. Always checking up on him making sure he was eating and keeping up with his hygiene, throwing away all the liquor he could find because as disappointed he was with Atsumu he couldn’t let him tear himself apart.
“I know Samu, thank you for telling me.” He spoke softly before clicking the end call button.
He accepted that it was best he stayed out of your life. He wanted to make everything up to you and if staying out of your life was wanted then he’d respect your wishes. He spent the next months bettering himself. He cut all alcohol out of his life. Only going out when it was with his teammates although that was a rare occurrence they were also quite disappointed with how he had treated you, especially his wing spiker Sakusa. Omi-Omi had always had a soft spot for you. But still they didn’t let it affect their game play. He focused all of his energy on volleyball. He even started going to a few therapy sessions for his self distructive behaviors and impulses. He really wanted to do and be better if not for you then for himself. Although he still had trouble being home alone without you, never feeling quite whole. With out you this house would never truly be his home again. He was starting to get better and not drown in agony every morning he woke up alone although he knew he deserved it. One step that had made the process easier was boxing up the remainder of your belongings that you had left. For so long he had kept everything just as you left it hopeful for your return thinking maybe everything could go back to normal and life could be picked up where it was left off although this time he’d swear to never hurt you again. It was unrealistic to think that though. His therapist had told his several times it was a step he needed to take and while it took several months he was finally able to remove any trace from the house. That night he cried him self to sleep from the finality that came from not seeing a piece of you around as though you had never been there in the first place.
He regretted not cherishing you for the amazing woman you are. He’ll never forgive himself for losing the best thing to everything to happen to him. At Seven months since that night he was finally able to breath when he went home, not suffocating from regret every moment present in those walls. The Jackals were on a winning streak and even more exciting they had just got a new member. And after all these years he was able to hold up at least one promise he had made after breaking so many at least he could fulfill one promise by finally getting to set for Shoyo Hinata.

Veritaserum Prompt Fic (Part 6)
Notes: Hi lovelies- sorry it's been a minute since I've been able to work on this fic! If you are just starting this ficlet I recommend starting at Part 1 and reading through or just popping over to read it on AO3 (I'll try to post it over there as soon as it's up here as well).
---------------------
"If you could do anything," Harry murmured one night while they were lying in bed after one of Draco's nightmares (although, truth be told, Harry hadn't been having a much better time trying to sleep), "What would you want to do?"
"You mean like as a career?" Draco asked.
Harry turned his head to look at him, watching Draco stare up at the ceiling, "Sure. Let's start there."
Draco hummed, "I always really liked potions, you know?" he said, turning his head so they were looking at each other. "I'd probably want to do my potions mastery and own a little apothecary or something." He shook his head and looked back up at the ceiling, "Not that anyone would want me to ma-"
He huffed, "I said if you could do anything. That means reality has no place in this conversation." He watched as the corner of Draco's mouth tipped up, "Besides," he continued, "Those people are arseholes anyway. And they're wrong about you."
The other man cleared his throat, "What about you?"
"Oh, I want to be a hermit," Harry replied easily. "I never want to see a single person that recognizes me again. Except maybe the Weasleys and a few other friends."
"Cheater," Draco murmured.
(Read more below the cut)
"Hmm?"
"You're cheating," Draco said, rolling onto his side so he could look at Harry. "You told me that reality has no place in this conversation but you're making your entire decision in light of the fact that you're the savior of the wizarding world. If you were just," he shrugged one shoulder, "just Harry, what would you want to do?"
He hummed, "I suppose you're right. I don't know, I like building things," he said. "Maybe I'd want to do that for a living."
Draco gave him a little smile, "That sounds nice," he said with a yawn.
"Maybe I'd build your apothecary."
"Oh?" he asked, eyes sliding shut. "What would you build me?"
So Harry started talking, telling him about the cozy shop he'd build with lots of windows and shelves, with a little counter with an old fashioned register, the cat he'd find him to sit on the counter and silently judge people's purchases. He described the work space he'd build behind, more sturdy shelves made out of dark, strong wood; a cupboard for the ingredients that couldn't be in the light; a skylight to help to keep the room from being too dark. Harry told him how he'd build him a glass greenhouse where he could grow his own potion ingredients all year round.
By the time he ran out of words, Draco was sleeping again; eyes closed, mouth open just a little, the corner tipped up like he was smiling.
But Harry was wide awake, day dreaming.
--------
Harry was out of bed before the sun was up the next morning; plotting and planning, making lists in his head of all of the things he needed to buy as he drove the jeep into town.
It took an hour and a half to buy everything and Harry stopped at the bakery to pick up fresh croissants before driving back home. Before he started, he brewed coffee and left a cup of coffee under a stasis charm beside a fresh croissant for Draco when he got up.
Then he headed out and got to work.
Draco was a late sleeper. Not that Harry blamed him with the nights he had (or in general, it made a weird little part of him happy when Draco slept in) but he'd noticed in the past two weeks that Draco usually slept until around 10:00 am. This meant that Harry had a solid three and a half hours of work in before Draco wandered out with the cup of coffee cradled in his long pale fingers.
The entire frame was almost finished for the greenhouse he was building.
"Harry what-?" Draco started.
"Hey!" Harry said, grinning over at him and grabbing his shirt so he could wipe the sweat off his face. "How did you sleep?"
"Fine," he answered distractedly, "What are you doing?"
"I'm building you a greenhouse," he told him, "Here, come take the tour."
Draco followed behind him and Harry stepped through what would be the door. "Right, so what we walked through will be the door," he said. "Then once I get all of the glass installed I have the supplies to build raised beds all throughout."
He moved into the first room, "The greenhouse is split into four rooms," he continued. "That way we can do climate control. I'll charm the glass to respond to your specifications; some rooms can be darker and cooler, others bright and hot, you know?"
"What?"
"Yeah," Harry said, "obviously the interior walls are glass, too, but fortunately I'd helped with rebuilding one of the green houses at Hogwarts, so I know a spell that will let light come through the glass one way but not the other."
He continued on into the back room, "And then I thought this might work for a studio where you could make potions," he said. "I can build you a fantastic table," he added. "I'll line the walls with shelves for storage, I think there will be plenty of storage space."
"Harry," Draco said, sounding a bit dazed.
He looked over at Draco who was standing helplessly in the middle of the room, cup of coffee still clenched between his hands.
"Why are you doing all of this?"
His brow furrowed as he stepped closer, "What do you mean?"
"The greenhouse?"
"Oh," he said, "Well, I dug up a garden outside this morning, too. You're right, some things will probably grow great here naturally," he conceded. "I thought maybe I'd try my hand at growing some regular vegetables, too, if there's enough room."
Draco shook his head, "No, I mean why are you doing any of this?"
"I thought you'd be happy," he said, starting to feel unsure. "We can ask Ron and Hermione to pick up cauldrons, vials, whatever you need and send them to us."
He stared at him for a long moment, "Why would you do all of this?"
He tilted his head at the other man, "Because you said if you could do anything you'd want to make potions."
"And so you just built it?" he asked incredulously.
"Well, yes," Harry said with a shrug.
"You're insane!" Draco finally blurted. "You're an absolute nutter, Harry Potter."
"What?" he asked. "Why?"
"Because the world doesn't work like this!" he said. "I'm a death eater, Harry! I don't get to have gardens, and greenhouses, and people who care about me." He covered his mouth with a trembling hand.
His heart felt like it had been crushed. After a moment, he stepped forward, "You aren't what they want you to believe you are."
"Who are 'they'?" he asked.
The corner of his mouth tipped up, "Everyone." He shrugged, "Your parents, your teachers, your friends, the people at the ministry, me. You are so many things and a death eater may have been one of them when you had to be, but you aren't now."
"How do you know?"
"I can't explain it," he said, and it's true he couldn't. He thought about it for a minute, "I don't, I guess. But even if you were, I like to think that if you were given the opportunity for something different you'd take it."
Draco was quiet for a moment, searching Harry's face, "I would have," he said softly. "When Dumbledore asked," he continued, "If he could have kept me safe, kept my mother safe."
"I know," Harry replied because he did. "I was there. And I was there at Malfoy manor when you refused to identify me, when you gave me your wand. Which," he continued, "I'm guessing you knew was the master of the Elder Wand."
Draco looked down at his coffee cup, his thumb brushing nervously back and forth along the lip and Harry had a startling realization. Here, in this moment when neither of them knew what the future could hold, with Draco standing outside in pajamas with his hair still a mess from sleeping and Harry in a pair of filthy jeans and little else, when hardly anything made sense, there was one thing that did:
He was falling in love with Draco Malfoy.
Before he could start to panic, Harry pushed the thought to the back of his mind, he could think about it later. "Why didn't you tell anyone?" he said softly. "About saving my life? About your wand?"
Draco's head snapped up at that, "I tried," he rasped. "They didn't believe me."
"You aren't what they believe you are," Harry repeated. "You're good," he murmured, "And you have a gentle soul. You've seen too much of war and hurt; let me give you this."
"I shouldn't," Draco whispered.
"You should," Harry replied. "Please."
Draco's eyes searched his for a long moment, "Alright," he finally said. "But only if you let me help with something."
Harry smiled, "Done." Somehow he knew that he'd never say no to spending more time with Draco Malfoy.

Saying the Words
Title: Saying The Words Prompt/Day: The Burrow's Living Room (Day 03) Tumblr name:  Rating: PG-13 Brief summary: Ron works up the courage to tell Hermione something important. Then he has to do it again. Any possible triggering/warning tags: Curse words
*****************************
Exhaustion had left them nearly dead on their feet, the adrenaline rush of battle long gone, leaving two weary teenagers in its wake. Hand-in-hand, Ron and Hermione shuffled up the stairs and collapsed into his bed in Gryffindor tower, unwilling to separate even for a moment.
His arm wrapped around her protectively, her head rested on his chest, tucked perfectly under his chin as they escaped into a cocoon of safety. They had lived. They had a future, hopefully together.
Ron stared up at the ceiling of his four poster, building up his courage while cradling her small body to him. Suddenly energized, he couldn't contain himself any longer and the words started spilling out of him at a breathless pace. Words he'd wanted to say to her for years. How much she meant to him, how much he admired her, and how long he'd held back from revealing his true feelings.
How much he loved her.
Never in his life had he been so eloquent and passionate, his voice low in the empty room. He'd practiced the speech in his head a thousand times, but it came out even better than expected. His maturity and the growth he'd made were on full display, spurred on by wanting to be better. Both for himself and for her.
He finally stopped, his chest pounding. He felt as light as feather, the burden of years of hidden feelings finally off his chest. He awaited her response, but all that came was a snore.
She clearly hadn't heard a word and must have fallen asleep almost instantly, surrounded by his warmth. They had been through a lot, after all.
"Bloody buggering fuck," he whispered under his breath.
He silently cursed a few more times and closed his eyes, groaning despondently under his breath as the deep tiredness and disappointment claimed him.
He'd have to confess his feelings one more time—when she was actually awake to hear them.
~*~
The next morning, everything changed. The somber mood around the castle put a hold on any romance, the weight of everything that had happened, the mourning and loss, took priority.
The next few days were split between Hogwarts and The Burrow. Everyone was suffering, not only from Fred's death, but those of their friends and schoolmates. They threw themselves into work in both locales, the only viable way they had not to sink into their collective sadness.
Mrs. Weasley insisted that the usual sleeping arrangements remained, and no one was in the mood to challenge the grieving mother, no matter how old-fashioned it seemed. They all accepted it, even Ron, who was aching to spend more time with Hermione so they could support each other through this difficult time.
Despite that, there were rare moments where they had a minute or two alone. Just as Ron was about to break into his speech again and tell Hermione everything he felt, they would get interrupted.
First it just seemed like bad luck, but every time it happened, Ron's frustrations increased. Whether it was Neville or McGonagall asking for their help with another task, or one of his siblings barging in at the exact wrong moment, it seemed like fate was working against him. Ron knew Hermione would want to retrieve her parents soon, and he needed to tell her before then. He desperately wanted to go with her, knowing she'd need his support.
After missing yet another a chance to tell her, when Ginny unceremoniously burst through the door of his Dad's shed to let them know breakfast was ready—stopping only to waggle her eyebrows at him as she dragged Hermione away to help her set the table—Ron's frustrations reached its peak. He would have to deal with his nosy family first.
~*~
With another long day of rebuilding Hogwarts over, the family Flooed into The Burrow's living room late in the evening, one-by-one dropping into whatever seating was available. Arthur and Molly bade their children good night and went straight upstairs.
"Where's Hermione?" Ginny asked as she flopped her head onto Harry's shoulder, stifling a yawn.
"She's still helping Madam Pomfrey in the Hospital Wing." Ron replied. "You can go to sleep if you want, Ginny. I'm sure she'll be back late, so I'll wait up for her."
"Can't sleep without a good night kiss?" George teased innocently, causing his siblings to snigger, easing the tension of the long, tough day.
Ron rounded on his family. "I haven't had a second of privacy with her, thanks to all of you." He stopped to run a hand through his hair. "Are you purposely trying to mess this up for me?"
"No, but it is rather funny. Besides, we know why you want some private time," Charlie responded, making a kissing face.
Ron sputtered, his ears turning red with fury, his frustrations from the morning returning and boiling over. "It isn't like that."
Percy pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "It's perfectly fine, Ron. We were all young once."
Ron clenched his fists. "IT. IS. NOT. LIKE. THAT."
"Then what is it?" Ginny asked.
"I WANT TO TELL HERMIONE I'M IN LOVE WITH HER!"
He hadn't heard the whoosh of the Floo behind him during his outburst, but Hermione's squeaked gasp was unmistakable in the dead silent room.
Ron was a statue, unwilling to turn around and make things even more awkward, certain that he'd said far too much. That he'd ruined things with his effing feelings. His siblings stared at him sympathetically, as if they weren't to blame for the whole debacle.
Arthur suddenly cleared his throat from the landing of the stairs. "Upstairs to bed, you lot. Give your brother some privacy."
Fleur stopped to give him an encouraging pat on the shoulder, before grabbing Bill's hand. Harry gave him a shrug and Ginny had a huge grin on her face as Ron watched them all ascend, leaving him and Hermione alone.
Ron took a deep breath and steeled himself, before turning around to face her. Even though she looked completely knackered, she was the most beautiful girl in the world to him.
"Hi."
"Hi," she replied.
"So, er, you heard that."
"Yes." Hermione's eyes searched his, her voice low. "Did you mean it?"
He stared back, trying to get any kind of indication of what she was thinking or feeling. She seemed frozen, but her eyes betrayed her vulnerability as they teared up. He just wanted to wrap her up in his arms and never let go.
"I, um, yeah. I did mean it. That wasn't how I wanted to tell you, but I meant it. I had a whole speech prepared and everything."
"You did?"
He nodded slowly, still unsure of her reaction to such a big step. "I said it the night after the battle, but you fell asleep and didn't hear a word of it."
Before he could react, Hermione was in his arms, kissing every inch of his face.
"I love you, Ron. I love you," she kept repeating. So caught up in their embrace, they failed to register the shouts and catcalls from the now packed landing.
She gripped him fiercely as he hugged her to him, his face buried in her bushy hair as he sported a giant smile on his face.
"Alright, show's over."
Bill steered the family back up the stairs, leaving them in silence.
Ron couldn't help but whisper in Hermione's ear. "Do you think I'll ever get to snog you without an audience?"
"Now seems as good a time as any."

if you leave.
pairing: fem!reader, kenma (timeskip).
genre: angst.
summary: how long are you willing to put up a fight?
cw: mention of sexual intercourse.
wordcount: 1.3k.
Tumblr media
loving kenma wasn’t easy, he’d let you know that the very first time. still, you deeply loved him. growing up in a world full of flowers and shining stars, you genuinely thought you’d be able to get the best from him and your relationship.
you were fast to understand that love wasn’t exactly easy, and that communication really could make a huge difference.
you always believed love was enough to keep the spark alive. yes, communication was important, so was the intimacy shared, physical touches, gifts and quality time. but, shouldn’t love be enough if all those things were missing?
perhaps not - that wasn’t love.
you didn’t want to accept it. never in your life you thought you’d fight for love so strongly, and for so long. why couldn’t you understand that relationships only could be sustained with two people?
perhaps you refused to let go because you knew what he’d say, because you knew he’d seen it all along.
you stared at the ceiling. after probably two hours mindlessly scrolling, your eyes got tired. so had your body, but, was there something for you to do in kenma’s house? you could cook, but then he’d complain about the smell. you could sit by his side, but he’d complain about the distraction. no, you didn’t even think of talking to him, because, why’d you try to speak with him if you could clearly see the headphones covering his ears? you’d become an extra in his life, and in this relationship. you wouldn’t expect kisses or any of the sort at this point. kenma hated it when you initiated it, because, of course, you’d always do it when he was busy. but then why he insisted on asking you to come to his place? expensive gifts meant nothing for you anymore, it’s not like he really thought about them anymore. everything had become a routine, a habit for him. everything but the love.
you kicked your feet off the bed, walking to the kitchen for some wine.
today was your anniversary. kenma preferred celebrating it at his place since the restaurants were too loud and busy for him.
you never complained, you had fun at his place. every anniversary was fun, simple, but reassuring.
you still couldn’t believe, and you’re sure kenma noticed the disappointment in your eyes when you arrived at his place (he couldn’t pick you up, he was busy) and all that was waiting for you was a bottle of wine and three shopping bags. in another moment, you’d gone to find him and ask him what was that supposed to mean. you were going to, walking to his office and finding him exactly how you supposed, sitting by his desk with headphones in your ears.
instead, you returned to his office with a glass of wine for him to acknowledge your presence, and retreated back to where you’d always wait for him; his room.
you waited, and waited, hoping he’d come to his room and at least, at the very least, speak to you.
you finally realized you were a fool for waiting for such things from him.
but then again, what were you doing there?
you were determined to ask him so tonight, it simply couldn’t wait any longer. as you returned to his bedroom, you noticed the screen of your phone shining, signaling a text. you picked it up and quickly read the text from one of your friends.
it was one of your friend’s birthday, and the rest of your group had planned a surprise celebration for her at a club nearby. in other circumstances you wouldn’t even think about it, how could you do anything else on your anniversary? yet, was tonight supposed to be anything special? because it was clear that for kenma, it was any other day in his life.
you rapidly texted your friend back and rushed to grab your bag and keys, along one of your gifts for your anniversary, a white, low back and tight silk dress that you still didn’t know what kenma was thinking when he bought it for you - it wasn’t your style at all. applying some lipstick and checking your reflection on the body mirror of his bathroom, you walked out. taking a peak to his office, kenma was still seated where he was the last time you saw him, three or four hours ago, the glass of wine barely touched. you decided against informing him your plans, and continued your path towards the door.
“you look beautiful, as i expected.”
you turn to face him carefully. kenma has the glass of wine in his hands, and you're surprised to notice the rather fancy outfit he’s got on. his long hair falls on his shoulders, only clips holding the long fringe from falling over his eyes. the two of you stare at each other quietly, finding the right words to say.
you don’t let him speak first, sliding your feet in your heels waiting at the entrance for you, “i’m going out, we’re celebrating a friend’s birthday. don’t wait for me, i might go back to my place for the night.”
kenma frowns, watching you stand up.
“where you leaving without telling me?”
“you were busy, i was gonna text you once i was out,” you respond.
“and what about our celebration?”
you stare at him, the boredom reflected on your eyes shaking kenma, “what about it?”
“it’s our anniversary,” he mutters, taking a step closer to you in hopes of grabbing your hand.
“yeah, and we celebrated,” you shrug, looking at him like he was talking nonsense.
“but—”
“i’m running late, i’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”
you try to leave his apartment but kenma is faster, clamping the door you were trying to open. you sigh, unwilling to look at him, “what is it?”
“you can’t leave on our anniversary,” kenma says, incredulous. “it’s our day.”
“kenma don’t be shameless,” you sigh, finally facing him.
kenma scowls, still baffled at your unusual behaviour. you wanted to laugh at his reaction.
“w-what? i’m being serious right now, this is the worst thing you could do to this relationship.”
“oh, so you’re putting the blame on me now?” you scoff, crossing your arms over your chest. “yeah, because i was going to spend the rest of my night waiting by your bedroom until you got tired of playing and decided to sleep by my side? was that the idea of celebration? or what, i was supposed to fall asleep and then wake up to have sex or something? you haven’t looked in my direction all day long, you know how long i’ve been here? since four, i’ve been waiting for you since four! i know you don’t like going out, it’s fine, i understand, but what else am i supposed to do? i’m sorry, i’m sorry i can’t put up with this anymore.”
“i told—”
“yeah, i know! you told me, but what am i supposed to do, i was in love with you!”
the silence is unbearable once those words leave your mouth. kenma stares at you, and for the first time, you feel his eyes on you. kenma is looking at you for the first time in so long your legs tremble and you want to jump at his arms.
but the words you just said affirmed those emotions you were trying so hard to bury, and the reality has finally come to life.
you were in love with him.
“are you saying—”
“let’s call it a day, we’re both exhausted, okay? i’ll call you when i get home,” you try again, pulling onto the handle of the door.
kenma speaks loud and clear, making you jolt, “if you leave now we’re done.”
it’s true, when they say, no matter how much effort you put, relationships simply die if you only give without receiving back. you didn’t want to believe, and for so long, you belittled the phrase. because, your love for kenma was stronger than anything, and no matter how hard things got, you’d continue to fight for this relationship, and for him.
but, without the love, the fight was over.
“we were done long ago.”

Liar, Liar, Pants on fire
pairings: Cheater!Oikawa X Reader, Iwaizumi X Reader
type: im not sure, first date??
word-count: 3.9k
warnings: cursing, mentions of cheating
A/N: I haven't been sleeping well so I’m reeeaaallly tired but here's something thats really bad written but I felt like I should post to not lose the habit so yea :////// I hope its ok, I could of definitely ended it better and maybe I’ll rewrite it one day but I just felt like finishing it in one night when while I’m my worst. Stuff at home have also not been at all pretty, lots of arguing that have nothing to do with me. oh im so tired :((( I really wish it was easy to sleep
______________
You weren’t sure of what you were going to say or even do but the way Oikawa’s eyes widened and the way his hand pushed her off was enough to let you know he was being unfaithful. But your decision had been final on leaving him weeks ago. One might think you were jumping to conclusions but when you noticed them walking together, hand in hand for the last couple of minutes it was enough to let you know what was going on. Not only that but not only were they giggling to each other, sharing loving pecks but just the way the both were standing so close told so much about their relationship. Iwaizumi was also kind enough to let you know a while ago, he knew telling you would be like betraying his best friend but he couldn’t hold back knowing that it was all wrong. To be honest, you couldn’t help but feel relief about the cheating taking Iwaizumi by surprise. You were thinking of ways to lay it on Oikawa, trying to figure out ways to end things with the setter but none of it ever felt right.
“How long has he been… you know?” Iwaizumi sighed, shifting on the bench you both shared.
“I don’t know. I figured it out just a week ago, thought I’d tell you before it could go any longer.” He looked over at you, it was obvious he cared about you. He has always cared about you, thats what friends do. Care for each other. Though, some people could say he cared a little bit too much.
“Thank you…it’s ok. I’ll talk to him, stuff happens.” You shrugged your shoulders but Iwaizumi sat in silence, waiting. He was waiting to comfort you if you cried, or even hold you if all you needed was just a hug. That’s how he always received you, with open arms and a shoulder to cry on.
“Why aren’t you upset? Don’t tell me you’re going to forgive that shit for brains boyfriend of yours. Please, You deserve way better.” His hand went to grab yours and you let his warmth come in contact with your own freezing hand. Iwaizumi’s grip on your hand never easing, begging you with his touch to not go back to his best friend.
“God, no. It’s just… you know how sometimes you lose feelings for someone and you can’t really explain it. Don’t get me wrong, sure it hurts and I still care deeply for him but romantically. Romantically my feelings changed, Iwa.”
“It’s not what it looks like.” Oikawa grinned, trying to save face, he took long strides towards you. You frowned, shaking your head at him making him stop on his tracks. “I know what it is. Just don’t make a scene, please. We can talk later.” He was confused, maybe even a little mad that you had asked him to not make a scene. He could only watch you walk away as his other girlfriend stood a few feet away, waiting until the coast was clear. The way she grabbed onto his arm to take his attention away made his stomach twist. Oikawa couldn’t help but feel sick, the wave of nausea hitting him harder and harder each step you took away from him. “I’m gonna go home, I’ll call you later.” She looked at him confused, not wanting to leave him just yet. Especially not now when he’s feeling so vulnerable after seeing you.
It had been a week after Oikawa had been caught with his second girlfriend by you and just a few days after having a talk with him. The both of you were mature about it, talking through your problems and even forgiving him but breaking up in the process. You still shared the same friends, the same class, and the same best friend. Iwaizumi thanked you mentally for not  saying anything to Oikawa about him coming to you and letting you know about his unfaithfulness. The three of you still tried to at least save the friendship, even if it felt pretty awkward to Oikawa. He couldn’t help but just feel like there was something wrong, the way you dismissed it all, it almost felt like you were eager to break up with him. Eager to get away from him so fast.
Your laugh took him out of his train of thoughts, he looked over to you sitting next to a sweating Iwaizumi. His own sweat rolled down his back. You would always stay back during their practice, thats how close the three of you were.
Lately it seemed like you were only close to one of them though. He couldn’t blame you, he practically ruined all sorts of relationships with you. Even his own friend had way more courage to call him out on his bullshit. The way you reacted towards the cheating, it just didn’t make him feel good. At all. Was he being an asshole if he expected you to at least cry, maybe yell at him or even try to argue? ‘Just don’t make a scene, please’ maybe he did want to make a scene. He couldn’t do that to you, right? Unfortunately, word got out own how the relationship ended and it was already enough humiliation for the both of you. Making a scene would just make it all types of worse.
Oikawa made it towards where the both of you sat, his cocky grin on display. It faltered once he took in the conversation between his best friend and ex-girlfriend. “I’ll walk you home then.” Iwaizumi said, pinching the skin on your elbow making you swat his hand away with a giggle. Walking home was usually Oikawa’s doing, especially while he was your boyfriend. So why now were you asking Iwaizumi, or did he offer?
The conversation died down once he took his seat next to his best friend without saying a word. It almost felt like you guys were purposely excluding him from your guys conversation or even keeping secrets with each other. He couldn’t help but feel paranoid by the way you both acted alone and around him. Even though he had no right to feel jealous, he just couldn’t help himself.
“You’re walking her home? I thought we were going to hangout after practice.” Oikawa frowned towards his friend, making him tense in his seat. “Sorry, it just gets really dark nowadays. I can’t have her walking home alone.”
He smiled, letting his own personal feelings get the best of him. “I’ll come with you guys then!”
And it went on like that for a while. Always including himself and sometimes even receiving annoyed looks from his own best friend. Oikawa wasn’t dumb, he knew there was at least a little something happening with the both of you but he was in no place to say anything. Or at least thats how Iwaizumi thought of it. Trying to get close to your best friends ex-girlfriend sounds horrible but when he cheats on her, it cancels out the horribleness of it, right? The only way Iwaizumi could get closer to you without Oikawa butting in was with late night talks. It was something the both of you looked forward to. Sometimes he’d be way too tired to keep up conversation but he would fight through it for you.
“So, what do you say? Do you want to?” Iwaizumi asked, laying on his back. He held his phone up to his ear while he used his other hand to rub his neck, massaging out a sore area from practice.
You giggled nervously, laying on your back as well on your bed and staring up at your ceiling. Your heart thumping against your ribcage almost as if it would jump out. He made you nervous, but a good nervous. The type of feelings you once had for Oikawa, but a little more stronger, and a whole lot more honest. “I’d love to.”
It sounded as if something fell through the phone, probably something he had hanging up that didn’t hold on anymore but instead it was a very excited Iwaizumi who had rushed off of their bed, and accidentally kicking his nightstand sending his clock flying off in the process. He hissed at the pain he felt on his foot but also silently cheered hearing you agree to his date for the upcoming weekend. “Are you okay?” You giggled again making him blush. “Yea, sorry. I just got a little too excited.” Again with the butterflies, you smiled.
“Be careful, I want you in one piece for when we finally go out.” He blushed even harder at your words, you really did have a strong affect on him. Iwaizumi’s phone started to vibrate from an incoming call, he pulled his phone from his ear and mumbling a quick ‘give me a second’ to you as he went to go check the caller id.
He frowned, Oikawa.
“Can I call you back? Oikawa’s calling me right now…” The brunette could hear you sigh. Oikawa seemed to have a sixth sense for whenever Iwaizumi tried to spend some time with you alone, even through a phone call.
“Ok, be safe and goodni-“
“No, I changed my mind. He can wait, I rather talk to you.” Iwaizumi said, cutting you off. If only he could see you now, a smile on your face and blushing. The conversation continued on even when Oikawa wouldn’t quit on calling but all Iwaizumi could do was send him to voicemail. Six times to voicemail and he still couldn’t get the hint that he was busy. But he was too focused on you to care about what Oikawa was so desperate to talk to him about.
He couldn’t help but feel happy whenever you would talk about your day even though he had mostly spent half of it with you. Even more happy when you kept reminding him about the date and trying your best to get information out of him on where he was going to take you. You felt warmth in your chest when you got to hear him stammer with his own words whenever you knew you made him nervous with your questions.
“Is he still calling you? Maybe you should answer him.” It could have been an emergency or maybe it was just him being annoying Iwaizumi thought, but he knew he should at least see what was wrong.
“Yea, I will. I’m sorry, I’ll see you tomorrow?” He sighed, still not ready to let go of the lovely conversation the both of you were having.
“Yes. Goodnight, I hope you sleep well. ” You gave him a final giggle before ending the call making his heart thump just a little harder.
Iwaizumi slumped on his bed with a groan, dialing Oikawa to check up on him. It didn’t take long for him to pick up, two rings and he could already hear the sigh of relief leave his best friend. “Iwaaa~, you had me so worried. What was so important that kept you away from me for so long? Hmm?” He couldn’t help but feel slightly guilty, he could’ve of at least sent him a message about how he wouldn’t be able to answer the phone for a while. Or was the guilt from spending the last two or so hours talking to his best friends ex-girlfriend and asking her on a date.
“Sorry, got caught up with something. What’s up?” He looked over to his nightstand to check the time on his clock but soon realized it was on the floor. The memory coming back and making him smile.
“Oh nothing, I was just wondering…you wouldn’t lie to me right?” And the pleasure was over, he tensed hearing the question but why? It’s not as if you were cheating on Oikawa when in reality it was him who did the cheating.
“Of course not. What are you thinking so much about thats got you asking stuff like that?” Oikawa sighed, biting his lip and staring off to his ceiling.
“Does she ever say anything about me? I know the both of you are close so I’m just wondering. She wasn’t even crying when she saw me with (gf name), do you know what she told me that night? ‘don’t make a scene’. Can you believe that?” Iwaizumi furrowed his brows, bothered by the way his friend was acting so childishly. Why was he so determined to see you hurt, was he that desperate to make you cry?
“Oikawa, just drop it. You cheated, you’re the bad guy in this situation and you still ended up with the girl you cheated on your own girlfriend with! Has it ever crossed your mind that maybe the reason why she wasn’t so hurt by it was because she was already over you?” Seconds passed of pure silence. The only thing Iwaizumi could hear was his friends steady breathing. His brow twitched anxiously, awaiting for an answer. “Did she tell you that?” He rolled his eyes, gripping his phone.
“She didn’t have to.” He mumbled making him receive a scoff from Oikawa.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Oikawa grumbled, annoyed at his unsupportive friend but again, he was just asking for too much from him.
“It means that you should really be thankful that she values your friendship that she overlooked you cheating on her and that you should really just drop it. Please.” Silence again. He reached over towards where his clock was at on the ground, picking it up and placing it back on his nightstand. “I guess you’re right. I just can’t help but wonder. She was my girlfriend for a while, the least she could do is cry a little.”
“Why are you such a dick?” Oikawa choked on his spit, getting caught off guard by the question.
“Excuse me? Iwa, where’s this behavior coming from… did she actually cry? Like only with you?” Iwaizumi huffed in annoyance, the red button tempting him to end the call.
“I don’t know, I’m just really tired from practice. See you tomorrow, k?”
“But Iwa-“ And with that he ended the call, readying himself for bed and to face Oikawa tomorrow. But he smiled, thinking about how he was going to see you too. The way you were able to flip his whole mood and instantly put a smile on him, he really did like you. Iwaizumi looked down to his vibrating phone, it was Oikawa again. The guilt came back, it wasn’t for hanging up on him but more on always crushing on his best friends ex girlfriend.
Oikawa groaned into his pillow, frustrated and feeling as if both of his closest friends were shutting him. He didn’t know who else to go to or ask. You weren’t exactly friends with anyone, you kept your circle small and usually never vented to anyone but Iwaizumi. The vibration he felt on his bed made him snatch his phone with an unexplainable speed, hoping it was you or even Iwa with some answers. Instead it was his girlfriend wishing him a goodnight but Oikawa didn’t even bother to read the whole message.
-
It was Sunday and Iwaizumi was still in the shower after getting in just about an hour ago. The date wouldn’t be until later in the evening and it was only morning but his anxiety ended up getting to him. Urging him to start getting ready at such early hours. You couldn’t help but do the same thing, thrashing your room and scattering clothes everywhere that you pulled from your closet while trying to find the best outfit for Iwaizumi.
He could hear his phone buzzing again making him pull the curtain back slightly to check the caller id. It was Oikawa again but too bad Iwaizumi was too busy scrubbing his body clean for the fifth time. Anyways, it was Sunday and just around eleven in the morning, he would understand if Iwaizumi just said he slept in and missed his calls. But the buzzing wouldn’t stop, Iwa grumbled while turning the water off and hearing his own mom knocking on the door, asking him if he was okay.
Iwa was quick to dry himself, he sat on his bed watching the clock on his nightstand. Why was time going by so slow? Normally he was a patient man but he was just way too eager to hangout with you. He’d do anything to make time speed up just a little. For you, you wished you had gotten up earlier. You still couldn’t decide on what to wear, your room a whole mess and you still hadn’t showered. Until when you finally decided on something simple, nothing that wasn’t too much nor too relaxed. But you couldn’t help but frown, Iwa never gave you a hint on where he was going to take you or even told you if it was going to be cold or not. With a groan, you neatly folded your outfit and put it on a spot on your bed before practically running to the bathroom to shower even though you still had over five hours to get ready.
He slowly dressed to be able to pass some time starting with his socks, and so on with a pair of fresh gym shorts and black t-shirt. Iwa decided on wearing casual clothing and not his chosen outfit until it was time for him to go so there wouldn’t be a way for him to get it dirty in away way and ruin it. Glancing at the clock, he laid on his bed. It was just around noon, almost hitting one. With a sigh, he picked up his phone and scrolling through his socials to pass time. He turned on his tv and let it run as background noise to keep him at least a bit distracted. Not before putting an alarm for an hour before walking to your house so he could properly get dressed.
You huffed trying to get your eyeliner done, even just the minimum to at least show him that you were trying. With a steady hand you were able to complete the left eye. Smiling, you looked at yourself in the mirror. ‘Ok, I think it looks okay-ish enough’ you though to yourself, looking down to your phone and seeing the time being four, almost time for your date with Iwaizumi. The pink chapstick stained your lips just a tad bit while it worked as a hydrator as well, just a little something you wanted to add. Your phone vibrated with a notification, it was Iwaizumi. You couldn’t help the smile that the name on the screen brought to your face. The tip of your finger swiped the notification and reading it to yourself out loud. “Hi, If you're by any chance ready would it be ok to go pick you up now? No pressure xx.” You weren’t the only one eager, it helped you feel more at ease. Your fingers typing up a response were unfortunately interrupted from another message notification, this time from Oikawa but you simply ignored it, not even bothering to read what he had to say, much more focused on going on your first date with Iwaizumi.
Hearing you giggle made Iwaizumi’s cheeks tint to a shade of light pink, he was outside your door and holding a bouquet of flowers that unintentionally matched with your outfit. It was simply pure kismet. “Are those for me?” He couldn’t ignore the sparkling look in your eyes when you asked so he just smiled, handing them to you. “Pretty flowers for a pretty girl.” It was now your turn for your cheeks to flush at his compliment. You happily accepted them, excusing yourself for a minute to place them in an empty vase and then returning to him, closing the door behind you in the process.
The both of you walked hand in hand toward a small coffee shop that the both of you were familiar with. “I still have somewhere else I wanna take you, not just for coffee.” He said with a smile and a squeeze to your hand.
“Ohh where else then?” You pressed, trying to get it out him.
“It’s a surprise, don’t worry about it.” Iwa looked over to you the smile still standing proudly on his face. Just happy to be with you after so long.
-
You couldn’t help but smile, finally seeing to where he was taking you. It was the most recent restaurant that had opened up in your area, he was taking you out to dinner. Perfect timing as well, you did start to feel a little hungry after the small cup of coffee you had just about an hour ago. “I know it’s not much but I know how much you like Italian and well-“ You quickly cut him off with a kiss on the cheek making him look down at you in surprise. He felt the warmth in his chest start up again, you were just too cute.
“Going anywhere to eat with you is already a perfect date, but the Italian food is for sure a plus.” Still having his hand in yours, you made sure to keep walking even while he still was a little shocked from the peck on the cheek. You giggled, pulling him closer to you by the hand. “What? Want another one?” Iwaizumi only nodded but this time taking charge as he gently placed his free hand on your cheek and pressing a soft kiss to your lips. He couldn’t help the smile that broke out on his face, contagious enough to cause you to smile too. You teasingly let your wet tongue swipe against his bottom lip making him pull away with a furious blush.
“Easy now.” Iwa mumbled, readjusting his posture and scanning the not-so-busy street to see if any creep had been lingering for too long. Just something to distract him from his first kiss with you because he was sure that he wouldn’t be able to hold back on the kissing if you tried the tongue trick again.
You laughed at his words but continued on into the restaurant. A very warm atmosphere came over the both of you, you really did enjoy his company. He made you happy, the way he holds your hand and the way he would look into your eye. It was definitely worth it to wait for the weekend. Iwaizumi thought so too, he would make it his personal goal to show just how much he cared about you and to do way better than Oikawa ever could. Even though that was his closest friend, he still could not let it slide on how trashy he was for being a cheater. The both of you were greeted by a wonderful waiter, following quickly behind them to the table nearest to a corner, somewhere more secluded but not so much.
Dinner passed by fast but neither of you could bring up what the both of you were dreading, the end of the date. Instead you kept him distracted with memories you shared with him from school, making him smile every time you would get way into detail. He loved hearing you talk about certain memories you had of him, things he had kept to himself thinking that no one would remember and that surprised him when you had a perfect memory. The guilty feeling in him slowly dying out with every little conversation you had with him. But it soon returned when he received a message notification from Oikawa.
‘How’s the date with (Y/n)? I thought you said you wouldn’t lie to me, Iwa…”

Saying The Words
Written for the 2021 @romioneficfest.
Also available on FF.net.

A Little Rest II
Characters: Xiao, Zhongli, gn!reader
Word Count: 2,104
Warnings: Swearing
Premise: Sometimes life is just unbearably tiring. And a comforting shoulder can be the perfect substitute pillow. In which the reader falls asleep on their partner.
Author’s Note: Second part!!! I realize the first didn’t get a ton of traction, unfortunately, but hopefully, this’ll still be welcomed. I realize since most of these are basically pseudo fics, would you guys prefer it to be bullet-pointed or paragraphed? I’m just wondering if one format is easier or more pleasant to read than the other.
Also, adepti’s rules and personal needs are kinda nebulous to me so I sort of made them up myself. Watches also weren’t a thing until the 1800s, and specifically didn’t really become a thing in China until the mid-20th century. But this is fantasy so I do what I want.
Xiao
You loved Xiao more than you could say. Every little moment spent with him made your heart flutter, every habit of his that you’d noticed, every little way he revealed his soul to you.
It seemed so improbable to you sometimes, than an adeptus, someone so very disconnected from the world of humans, should choose to love you. Although Xiao would never let you think you were any lesser than him, would never let his nature put you down, you were still somewhat in awe of the whole setup, and little reminders of his adepti status often brought you back to when you two had first begun to fall in love, when Xiao had explained that he didn’t quite understand the human way of life.
And one of those things that he didn’t understand appeared to be the concept of sleep itself.
It wasn’t that Xiao didn’t know what sleep was. Nor was he unable to sleep, he once told you. Theoretically he could sit down and take a nap much like any normal human. It was more that he didn’t need to sleep, and didn’t see the need to do something that took up so much time and left one so vulnerable.
Not that he didn’t pay attention to your needs; he wasn’t about to disrupt your sleep schedule on purpose, in fact you often joked that Xiao cared more about your rest than you did. It was only that, after spending so many years simply not thinking about things like sleep, it became hard for him to suddenly remember that he had a partner who needed said sleep every day. And a day was oh so short in Xiao’s mind.
It was a beautiful evening at the Wangshu Inn. The air was warm without being stifling and a breeze blew, light and cool. You were on the roof with Xiao, the place that had become your normal meeting spot. For as much as Xiao adored you with every fiber of his soul, he was still an adeptus, and his comfort level around most humans was that of an anxious cat – always ready to bolt.
Besides, the roof of the Inn was such a lovely place to relax. You gazed at Xiao’s profile as he looked up at the stars, noticing the way that the wind ruffled his hair slightly, the way his posture seemed so relaxed, so comfortable. One of his hands was clasping yours, fingers linked together, his palm nice and warm; the other pointed out constellations to you, each bearing a story, some which had long been forgotten by the residents of Liyue.
It wasn’t often that Xiao was so talkative, so open. Although he still barely mentioned his past – keeping that part of himself shut away with only the occasional crack through which you might learn of his sorrows – he’d become much more willing to disclose his everyday thoughts to you, as well as share stories that he knew. The latter was something you always loved to listen to, not just because the stories he told were always interesting and so full of life, but also because they gave you the sense of knowing him better, something that always made you happy.
Unfortunately, tonight was one night where, though you were more than happy to listen to Xiao talk about the stars, you were kind of dying of fatigue. A headache slipped in and out of your consciousness, and you found it more and more difficult to concentrate on Xiao’s words, finding they were all melting together into some semi-coherent monologue.
Your fatigue must’ve been very apparent, for when Xiao glanced over at you his whole demeanor changed; the carefree look on his face was gone, replaced with one of slight confusion and definitive worry. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine!” You shook your head. “Just a bit tired, that’s all.”
“Then you should rest.” Xiao squeezed your hand slightly before moving to stand up. However, as tired as you were, you cared more about spending time with him, and weren’t about to cut said time short.
“Wait!” You exclaimed, causing Xiao to pause, looking at you in a puzzled way. You smiled, slightly sheepish, but pressed forward. “I’ll be fine. If you don’t mind though, may I, uh, may I lay my head on your shoulder.” You gazed up at him, but inside you were struck with the urge to suddenly look away. Xiao was still a bit reticent with affection, not that it bothered you. He’d told you that he was simply unused to it, not averse to it. You weren’t about to pressure him into anything though, no matter the cause, and thus you waited for his response, hoping your expression conveyed that it’d be perfectly fine if he declined.
Your worries proved to be without ground however, for Xiao’s expression grew only fonder. Lying back down he gestured towards you. You gladly scooted closer to him, laying your head on his shoulder, hand once more in his. “You were saying about the boar constellation.” You murmured.
Xiao smiled, kissing the top of your head, before once more going on speaking about the stars. You smiled too, allowing his stories to carry you off to sleep, your head already swirling with half formed dreams about creatures who walked among the stars.
Xiao listened to your breathing even out, still talking a little after it seemed you’d dozed off, making sure that the sudden stop of his voice didn’t wake you up.
Gazing down at your peaceful face he pondered for a moment how much his life had changed so quickly. Even a month ago the idea that he would become friends with a human seemed impossible, much less that he would fall in love with one.
When he’d first met you it was as if something that had been frozen inside him for a long time began to thaw. He was terrified at first, terrified of you, terrified of himself, terrified of the unknown that loomed before him like a vast chasm. It had taken every ounce of courage to hold your hand at first, and every ounce of courage for every step after that.
But he would do it again if he had to, for being with you was the best part of his long, often cruel life. And he would do anything to protect you, anything to make sure you were comfortable and happy and healthy.
“Goodnight.” He spoke softly. Up above the stars kept silent vigil along with him. Tomorrow would be a bright new day, but for now he was simply going to enjoy the moment he’d been given with you.
 Zhongli
For someone who’d lived thousands of years, you’d think Zhongli would remember that tea had to be decaffeinated sometimes.
Not that you could really blame him for forgetting. After all it’s not like he needed to pay attention to whether or not his tea was caffeinated. To one of the Seven sleep was something more akin to a perk than a necessity. Sure, it was nice to sleep. But it’s not like Zhongli was going to feel regret if he accidentally downed five cups of tea right before midnight and spent the rest of night starting at the ceiling, wondering where he went wrong.
Unfortunately, you were definitively not a god, and did, in fact, need sleep. So, when you found yourself staring out the window at 5 am, having long come to the conclusion that sleep was just not going to happen, the emotion going through your mind was something more akin to: “Oh. Fuck.”
This turned into an “Oh you’ve got to be fucking kidding me” when you saw the list of your daily commissions. Yeah, someone had to go to Jueyun Karst and Qingyun Peak to collect Cor Lapis, and considering your relationship with Zhongli and the adepti it should’ve been unsurprising that you were going to be the one to do it. But your sleep addled brain was having a difficult time processing things logically, and all you saw when you looked at the list Katheryne gave you was the fact that today was going to hurt.
Your prediction turned out to be only too true. No adepti came to ask why you were mining outside their front doors – honestly what would you even respond to something like that – but the amount of treasure hunters that ran into you began to feel less like a likely coincidence, considering the location, and more like a targeted attack. Thankfully there was nothing you couldn’t handle, but by the end of your expedition you were more than ready to go home and take a nap.
Hurrying through the rest of your day, barely responding to the people you interacted with, by the time you’d finally finished up with your adventuring duties you felt like the most irritated person on the planet.
Arriving home, throwing your pack haphazardly onto the floor you almost tripped and fell flat on your face in your hurry to get to the bedroom. Not bothering to take off your adventuring gear you threw yourself onto the bed and quickly found yourself lost in long overdue sleep.
Zhongli glanced at his watch, frowning as he saw the lateness of the hour. The sun was already beginning to set, and though he’d walked as fast as possible, he still found himself feeling vaguely guilty about being so late. You two hadn’t spoken much in the morning, you’d seemed a bit restless and hurried out right after breakfast, so Zhongli was anxious to spend as much time with you after work as possible.
“Darling?” He called out, walking into the home you two shared. He glanced around uncertainly, surprised that you hadn’t greeted him at the door. The sight of your pack sprawled about the hallway only made him more confused, and vaguely alarmed, and he hurried down the hall, checking each room to see if you were there.
His worry immediately faded upon seeing you, curled up above the covers, evidently fast asleep. Unsure as to whether or not to wake you up he instead headed towards the kitchen, thinking you might like something when you got up.
You woke up in the dark, something that surprised you. You’d been out for a long time. Seeing that the door had been opened you shuffled down the hall, still a bit groggy from the extended nap you’d just taken.
Zhongli smiled as you entered the kitchen. “Did you have a good nap my darling?” He asked, kissing you on the forehead. You nodded sleepily, propping yourself up by your elbows on the counter. Zhongli chuckled. “Here, something to warm you up.”
Yours eyes widened as the cup of tea was placed in front of you. For a moment there was silence, then you glanced back at him.
“Zhongli?”
“Yes?”
“Uhm, is this tea, well, does it by any chance have caffeine in it?”
The look on Zhongli’s face was enough to make you burst into giggles. Perplexion melted into realization, which evidently caused some sort of embarrassment, for the former god blushed a bright shade of red before bringing his hand to cover his mouth.
“Ah, I see. That’s why you were so tired this morning.”
“It’s alright.” You finally replied, the initial fit of giggles having passed. “I know that you don’t have to think about these sorts of things normally. Only me making the same mistake two times in a row would be a bit hilarious, wouldn’t you think” You placed a kiss on Zhongli’s cheek, finally causing him to calm down a bit.
“I suppose you’re right. I’m sorry. Next time I promise to pay more attention.”
“Thank you.” You smiled, fatigue coming back after the initial burst of energy. Leaning into Zhongli’s neck you sighed slightly.
“Still tired?” Zhongli asked, voice soft and caring.
“Yeah, a bit.” You admitted. Zhongli nodded, before scooping you up.
Carrying you over to the couch you both settled in a bit. Zhongli began humming a sort of lullaby, and you smiled despite yourself. “You’re too good for me.” You mumbled.
“Nonsense.” Came Zhongli’s reply, just as full of love and affection. “You’re too good for me. And I won’t hear otherwise.”
“If you say so.” You replied, too tired to really fire back, already drifting off.
“I do. It’s only the truth.” And with that he began to hum again. As you fell asleep one last thought lingered in your mind.
If such contentment comes from staying up too late, then I’d be glad to do it again.

Clandestine: Chapter Eight
Ready for more angst?
@lumosinlove you’re my hero <3
So much thanks to my partner in angst, @donttouchmycarrots
CW: mentions of violence, blood, panic attack
Clandestine Masterlist
.
Logan paced the width of the hotel room; back and forth, back and forth, like a tiger cooped up in a too-small enclosure. Leo sat on Finn’s side of the bed and traced shapes into the plain white duvet, imagining that he was following the same path Finn’s fingers had taken just the day before.
Finn.
He bit down on the inside of his cheek until he tasted blood and looked up at Logan. Back and forth, back and forth. Sirius and Loops hadn’t been in contact for about thirty minutes now. They’d been trying to get a location on Finn via the tracker he’d had in his com earpiece. Well they’d found the earpiece, but it must’ve been thrown out the car window because the trail ended on the side of the street with a tracker that had been smashed almost past recognition. Leo was strangely relieved about it. It was better than the alternative that his brain had been all too quick to jump to.
They got a license plate number from one of the stoplight cameras, though, so they were running that through the system and hoping they’d get a hit. Seeing that it was the Snakes and that they had so much control over everything that happened in the city, Leo thought their chances were pretty slim.
Back and forth, back and forth.
“Lo.”
There was no indication that Logan had even heard him.
“Logan.”
Still no response.
Leo rose to his feet and crossed the small room to catch Logan’s arm, finally putting a stop to the relentless pacing. Blank green eyes finally met his and Leo sighed, aching at the sight. “Sweetheart,” he murmured sadly, pulling the fighter into a hug. He was tense for a while, not moving to return the embrace and just breathing shakily through his nose.
“Talk to me.” Leo urged simply, unsure of what else to say. This wasn’t ok, he couldn’t pretend like it was. And he knew this conversation was going to be hard – god, he was barely keeping it together himself – but they still needed to have it. There was no point running from it. The only thing left to do was to face the daunting cliff they were careening towards and jump.
“We missed our chance.” Logan whispered, voice breaking towards the end as he pressed his forehead against Leo’s collarbone and leaned heavily against him. He felt small and useless and helpless as he squeezed his eyes shut. We were supposed to talk to him tomorrow and now he’s not here.
Leo’s cheek came to rest on the crown of his head as a sad noise escaped from his lips. “You don’t know that.”
But they both knew it wasn’t looking good.
“This is exactly why I wanted a transfer.”
Logan realized his mistake a millisecond too late. Leo stiffened, then pulled away to look at him. “What are you talking about?” When he didn’t answer, Leo tilted his chin up to meet his eyes. “What do you mean, transfer?”
He jerked his chin away and refused to look into baby blue eyes. “It was a while back, don’t worry about it.”
“Logan.”
“What do you want me to say?” Logan demanded, his white-knuckled grip on his emotions quickly giving out. “My purpose on this mission was supposed to be backup if needed, but they hired me mainly to make sure the mission got done, even if things got messy. And once… once feelings entered the picture, how was I supposed to focus on the mission instead of on keeping the two of you safe? If it came down to it, choosing between the two of you and this op would be too easy to do. I knew it was putting the mission at risk so I asked for a transfer, but we didn’t have any other agents available.” He ran a hand through his hair roughly, breathing in shakily. “And now I’m living in one of my own fucking nightmares because this is on me.”
And if that wasn’t a knife in Leo’s chest. Logan deflated before his eyes, head hanging low, the picture of a man utterly defeated. “Finn’s gone and it’s all on me.”
The knife twisted cruelly.
“It’s not-”
“Bullshit,” Logan spat as he shoved Leo away. “Don’t even finish that sentence. I knew something was wrong, I knew it-”
Leo grabbed his hands firmly and pulled them against his chest, keeping him from moving farther away. “And I was the one who told you that you were worrying too much. If we’re going to be playing the blame game, you’re not shouldering it alone.” His eyes and nose were all red now, and Logan could feel the stutter in his breathing. “Sometimes it’s ok to not be ok, Tremz.”
“Peanut-” Logan watched as tears spilled over and down Leo’s cheeks, his lower lip trembling. He’d never seen the blond cry before and, oh, he hated it. His fingers twitched to reach for him, but he couldn’t help but hesitate. No matter how many times he’d managed to be gentle with Leo, Logan still wasn’t accustomed to it – he was used to callouses from training too long with a weapon, to split, bloody knuckles after a fight, to using those hands to hurt.
He never wanted to hurt the one standing in front of him.
“Come here,” he mumbled finally and reached up to wipe away a tear ever-so-gently, keeping the pressure feather-light against the delicate arch of his cheekbone. “Leo-”
Leo exhaled sharply as he collided with Logan, and it seemed like his entire body was shaking. Logan held him close, backed them up so that they were beside the bed and sat down heavily, guiding Leo down with him as his own eyesight got blurry. His hand came to rest in fluffy blond curls as they sat there and held each other and allowed themselves to ache.
He wasn’t sure how long they stayed there, all he knew was that he practically catapulted himself across the room when his phone started ringing.
“Loops?” He demanded as soon as he picked up, putting the phone on speaker and returning to his spot next to Leo, who ran the coarse material of his sweatshirt sleeve against his cheeks and sniffled. Logan held the phone in one hand and used the other to tug Leo closer. They both needed the contact.
“The license plate was a bust,” Loops cut to the chase, words firm but gentle. “Luckily for us, though, we’ve got an ex-Snake on our side.”
Sirius’ voice reached them next. “I've narrowed it down to three possible locations where they could be keeping Finn.”
Logan didn’t hesitate. “So we send agents to all of them, plan a coordinated attack.”
“Tremblay, the mission-”
“Fuck the mission. And fuck the Snakes. This is Finn.” He snarled, pulling up short when he heard a sharp inhale beside him. He looked over at Leo, then down to the hand he was gripping way too hard. He dropped Leo’s hand in an instant, guiltily retracting his own to rest in his lap with a wince.
So much for being gentle.
Shit.
Delicate, nimble fingers traced along the tendons stretching across the back of Logan’s clenched fist and uncurled his hand. He watched as those same fingers laced their way between his and squeezed back just as hard as he had earlier – a strong, steady lifeline that Logan desperately grabbed hold of and clung to for dear life.
He barely listened as Loops started talking about how they needed to be careful and think this through – which was true, he knew that. But a big part of him simply didn’t care. He was done sitting on the sidelines, waiting for something to go wrong. Maybe it was time to be a little reckless. This seemed like a high risk, high reward situation if Logan had ever seen one.
“We’re going to get some analysts in and figure out what our next move is going to be.” Remus said seriously. “That doesn’t mean we’re sitting back and doing nothing, we just need to be smart about this. We’re not leaving him there. I promise.”
“His brother,” Leo whispered, his grip tightening. “Finn said he had a brother who’s a spy down in Florida. Has anyone contacted him yet?”
There was silence on the other end of the line.
“He deserves to know.” Logan swallowed thickly, another crack forming in his heart. “If it was one of my sisters, I’d want to know.”
“We’ll call him.” Sirius vowed solemnly. Of all people, he was sure to understand that. “You two need to try and get some rest. We’ll be in contact tomorrow.”
Logan just barely held back a snort. Rest. That wasn’t going to be happening any time soon. He just knew he was going to be spending the night staring at the ceiling, all too aware of the glaringly empty space beside him.
God, Finn.
Leo moved suddenly to pull his hand away, startling Logan out of his thoughts and making him hold on that much harder, an instinctive action. For an irrational split-second he was convinced Leo was leaving him, too. Something written on his face must’ve given him away because Leo’s eyes softened and he scooted closer, pressing a kiss to his temple.
“Sweetheart,” he sighed against Logan’s skin, staying close. Logan let his eyes close and breathed him in, free hand fisting in the material of his sweatshirt and pulling him impossibly closer. A car alarm started blaring in the parking lot outside, but neither of them moved. Logan didn’t even flinch at the abruptness of the sound. All he could think about was Finn, god knows where, alone. Without them.
They were a package deal. You weren’t supposed to have one without the other two.
But now one was gone and in danger and Logan was livid. At himself, at this situation, at this damn job.
He needed to fix this.

Remus sifted through another digital file, unsure what exactly he was looking for but pushing on nonetheless. Eventually, if he read enough, he’d find something useful. Being so far away from the action was frustrating – an uncomfortable itch under Remus’ skin. All he wanted to do was help, to rectify the situation that had turned south before he could even recognize that there was a problem. His nonchalance, his negligence had cost them an agent and a friend. There had to be something in those files somewhere.
“You need to get some sleep.” The familiar voice of his roommate said, forcing Remus to take his eyes off the laptop and squint up at him, his eyes taking a while to adjust from the screen. Sirius was in his pajamas, which made Remus frown. What time was it, exactly?
“It’s late.” Sirius answered his unspoken question, a hint of a smile gracing his face. “And you need to sleep.”
“I need to research-”
Sirius was at the table in an instant, closing the laptop firmly. “You’re of no use to them when you’re so tired you can’t think straight.”
Remus glared up at him, but he really couldn’t keep it up for long. He looked back down at the table and his tea, which was long cold, pigment settling to the bottom of the mug. He was exhausted. “Ok. Sleep.”
There was a soft look on Sirius’ face, warm and open and affectionate. Remus wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. Sure, he had his suspicions about how the ex-Snake felt for him, but taking that next step was still daunting. There was still a lot stacked against them and no matter how much Remus wanted him – or how much Sirius wanted him back – it would still complicate things. Even then, he was tempted to just throw caution to the wind and say fuck it.
Some things were worth the complications.
“Sleep.” Sirius reiterated with a quiet laugh, then he gestured with his hand that he was keeping his eyes on Remus before disappearing into the bathroom. Remus smiled and shook his head fondly, taking his cup of cold tea and dumping it in the sink. He was living with a secret dork. He… didn’t hate the thought as much as he would have a few months ago.
After placing the mug in the dishwasher, Remus started his nightly routine – checking the locks on the front door, closing all the blinds, turning off the lights. He was walking down the hall towards his room when a head suddenly poked out around the doorframe to the bathroom, making Remus jump. Sirius stood there, toothbrush in his mouth, giving him an approving look.
There was no hiding the smile on Remus’ face. “Yes, yes, I’m going to bed. You don’t have to supervise me.”
Sirius’ next words were garbled by the toothbrush in his mouth, but the rough translation Remus got was “just checking”. That was the only translation that made sense, anyways. He continued his path to the bedroom and got ready to sleep, changing into a threadbare t-shirt and brushing his teeth before turning the light off and crawling into bed with a weary sigh.
Tomorrow. He’d start formulating a plan to get Finn out of the mess he was in tomorrow.
Movement from the corner of his eye caught his attention. Sirius was standing in the doorway, looking almost hesitant.
“Just making sure you didn’t smuggle your laptop in here.”
There was a smile in Remus’ voice – even he could hear it. “I told you I was going to bed, and I am. You should, too.”
“Noted.” There was a pause, heavy with words unsaid and sentiments kept hidden in the recesses of their minds. Remus could just barely see him in the darkness – he was mostly just a dark silhouette, stark against the light from the hallway. Remus shouldn’t be doing this. And yet-
“Sirius.”
“Hmm?” He questioned, stopping in his motion of closing the bedroom door.
Remus only let himself hesitate a split-second. “Stay?” he blurted, ridiculously grateful for the cover of darkness so that Sirius didn’t witness his grimace. “I just mean – that couch can’t be comfy to sleep on. And… and I’m not sure I want to be alone right now.”
Even though he couldn’t see him, he could sense Sirius’ smile. “Sure.” He left for just a few seconds to turn off the hallway light, then returned without even stumbling once.
“Do you have night vision or something?” Remus snarked, shifting over on the bed to make room. The bed dipped and then Sirius was settling in next to him, radiating more warmth already than the heating system in the apartment. Remus refrained from moving in closer, but it was a close thing.
“Snuck into my brother’s bedroom all the time when I was a kid.” He mused, pulling the blankets up a little higher as he got comfortable. “Got pretty good at maneuvering around in the dark.”
Remus couldn’t help but smile at that. “Me too.”
They went quiet after that, Sirius’ breathing slow and even, a metronome keeping the time as they both tried to sleep. Remus really did try but he couldn’t seem to turn his brain off, constantly aware of just who was in his bed right that second. He sucked in a determined breath, then rolled onto his side to face his roommate.
“Sirius.”
“Hmm?” Sirius repeated, quieter this time. Even this close he still couldn’t see much, only what the not-quite full moon illuminated for him – a strong jaw, the slope of his nose, the glint to his dark hair. It would be so easy to just close the distance between them and kiss him. He wanted to.
On top of that, he was pretty sure Sirius wanted him to.
He’d always thought getting here would be complicated and confusing and require so much talking. Well, they were here now and they didn’t really have to say a word, which surprised Remus. But there was this… charge between them, polar and magnetic, that pushed the two together as naturally and easily as taking their next breaths. At this point it felt almost inevitable, no longer worth fighting against Remus’ better judgement.
He tasted like the toothpaste Remus always bought. The cheap, off-brand one he’d used as a kid and just kept on using as he grew up. Remus wasn’t sure he could ever use that toothpaste without thinking of him now, him and the way he tangled their legs together and ran his tongue across the seam of Remus’ lips, urging them open. Remus hummed against his lips and kissed him back; the only thought going through his head was finally.
Sirius threw a leg across Remus’ to straddle his hips and then moved to balance over him, a looming, faceless shadow in the dark.
And Remus froze, the feeling of being caged-in catapulting him back all those years ago to the floor of an otherwise empty warehouse, a fierce hand on his shoulder pulling and pulling and pulling-
“You good?” Sirius breathed, pressing a quick, careful kiss to the hinge of his jaw, nose brushing against his cheek as he leaned back to look at Remus. The soft, concerned way he said it brought Remus back to reality quickly.
He was ok. This was ok.
“Mmhmm.” Remus pulled Sirius closer by the hips, greedy for the contact, the knowledge that he wasn’t alone in some dimly-lit warehouse. There were cool sheets underneath him, the sound of his ancient heating system rattling away as it worked, and the taste of toothpaste in his mouth. The figure hovering over him was smaller, more compact. The eyes that gleamed in the dark were gray, not dark and feral. The hand gripping his shoulder wasn’t intended to hurt but to anchor, to soothe. He sighed into their next kiss and finally let himself relax against the pillows, safe in Sirius’ arms – a sentence he never thought he’d say, but he sure was grateful for evolving circumstances.

They were taking a break from bashing Finn’s face in, apparently.
He warily watched the two Snakes that entered the room, eyesight hindered by one swollen, puffy eyelid. They didn’t approach him, though, instead choosing to stand between him and the open door – a clear attempt at reminding Finn just who was in control of this situation.
He couldn’t help but smile sarcastically. If they had to use subliminal messages to come across as intimidating, they were getting desperate.
And Finn wasn’t cracking.
He was morbidly curious to see what they had in mind.
He leaned back against the wall and regarded them, feigning uninterest. “What’s on the agenda for this meeting, boys?”
Two identical glares were shot his way. Finn shrugged, stretching his legs out in front of him and crossing them at the ankle while holding back a wince. “I’d like a printed-out itinerary, when you get a chance.”
“We just want to talk.”
Finn snorted. “That’s worked really well so far.”
“We’ve got some incentive for you this time.”
“Ooh, that sounds interesting.” He said, wiggling his eyebrows. “Is this a guessing game? Because I’ve definitely got a few ideas brewing that would be great incentive: a large meat lovers pizza – extra cheese, please – oh, or a TV! It gets terribly boring when you leave me here all by my lonesome. A book would also be adequate.”
The two looked at each other. The shorter one on the right looked exhausted, and – to quote one Leo Knut, bless his heart. Finn grinned. He could practically hear the phrase in a sarcastic, too-sweet drawl. Apparently it didn’t always mean what most people thought it meant in the south.
As if they could read his mind the tired-one said, “Your partners. The ones that came barging into the restaurant and caused quite the scene.”
Of course they did, those dumbasses. Finn just knew Logan had been leading the charge; he was too hot-headed for his own good.
“They’re long gone by now,” he bluffed, although he knew better. They were still camped out in that hotel room, plotting. He was sure of it. He ached a little at the thought – a nauseating combination of worry and homesickness and knowing that they were hurting because of him and his inability to recognize that he’d been drugged, for god’s sake. Some agent he was. “So good luck finding them.”
“Really? That’s interesting,” The taller of the two crossed his arms over his chest. “Our sources tell us they’re still in the city.”
Tired-Snake pulled a picture out of the folder in his hand and handed it over to Finn. A blond and a brunet, pressed as close together as they possibly could and looking down at the same phone screen in a small hotel room. A hotel room he was all too familiar with, seeing that he was just there earlier that day. He could see his dress shoes in the exact same place he’d kicked them off after the gala, one still on its side. Finn wanted to see his partners again more than anything, but not like this – used like bargaining chips to get him to talk.
He could use this, though, if he played his cards right. So he let his eyes widen and over-exaggerated the trembling of his hand as he held onto the picture too tight. The fear was real – he didn’t have to act too hard this time. The words he said, however…
“I don’t know what you want me to say. They were backup, that’s all.” Technically not all a lie, but definitely not truthful either. “I was supposed to go in, gather as much intel as I could, and get out. That’s it. What else would I have been doing in a public place like that?”
The Snakes looked at each other, then back at Finn. They were at this strange impasse – they didn’t know that Gryffindor was going after the flash drives, and Finn wasn’t supposed to know about the flash drives in the first place. Neither of them could bring them up without revealing how much they knew.
“What were you going to use the intel for?” Tired-one asked finally. “What are you planning?”
“You expect me to know? I’m just a field agent. I get the intel, then immediately hand it over to the analysts and let them do their thing. I’m at the bottom of the food chain, dudes. I don’t know shit. Just-” he hesitated for longer than he needed to, reeling the Snakes in with his performance – the battle of conflicting emotions on his face, the nervous tapping of his foot, the way he bit his lip and winced when he remembered that it was already split. “Just leave them alone, ok? They don’t know any more than I do about all this.”
The taller Snake grabbed the picture from him, watching Finn hesitate to give it back. “Cooperate, and that won’t be an issue.”
As soon as the door closed behind them, Finn relaxed his control over his expressions and glared like he’d been wanting to for so long. Because really. How dare they threaten his boys.
They should’ve known that would only give him more incentive to throw them as far off the trail as he possibly could.

Logan wasn’t sleeping, but that didn’t change the fact that he nearly jumped out of his skin when Leo sat bolt upright in bed with a sudden gasp.
“Nutty, what the hell-”
“I just thought of something.” He rushed to say, voice deep and scratchy from lack of use. He threw the sheets off, scrambled out of bed, and let all the cold air in as he turned the light on and hurried to the tiny hotel closet. Logan glared after him, grabbing the duvet and tucking it up around his chin again.
“What’s up?” He watched Leo hesitate at what he came across in the closet – a dark suit haphazardly thrown on a hanger, tie hanging from the hook. The tiniest of reminders of who used to be there with them – who should still be there with them. The blond took a deep breath and moved it aside, reaching for his own gray suit and digging around in the pockets for something. Logan sat up as he watched, brow furrowing. “Nutty?”
“Regulus slipped me his number at that party.” Leo explained, finally finding what he was looking for and pulling out a small business card. “Why didn’t I think of this earlier? If he knows anything, maybe he’ll tell us.”
Logan sighed and stared up at the ceiling, trying to tamp down the hope threatening to well up. “If they’re not keeping tabs on who he’s calling and messaging, what he’s saying.”
“He’s high up – why would they doubt him?”
“Because he’s got a brother who got out.”
“He thought Sirius was dead.” Leo pointed out, flopping back onto the bed and grabbing his phone from where it was plugged in on the nightstand. “So why wouldn’t the rest of the Snakes?” The glow from the screen illuminated a look of such blind optimism that probably hurt Logan more than it should have. Because one of these days, Leo would only be disappointed.
“He’s on our side, according to Sirius.” Leo continued as he tapped out a message. “I think he’ll help.”
Logan figured it was worth a shot. They were running low on options and he was willing to try just about anything if it meant getting Finn back. He rolled onto his stomach and peered over Leo’s shoulder at the screen right as he hit send.
Regulus looked down at his phone as it buzzed, seeing a text from an unknown number.
Is he ok?
He let out a long-suffering sigh, puffing out his cheeks as he did so. He’d only given this number to one person recently and that was quickly proving to be a mistake. They were going to do something stupid, weren’t they? And that put him in a very uncomfortable spot. Did he help them and risk getting caught, or did he let them try some half-assed plan on their own – because they would, he had no doubts about that – and risk never being able to get out of here?
Both options were unappealing.
“Everything ok?” Finn questioned around a bite of the food Regulus had smuggled in for him, quickly bringing Regulus out of his thoughts.
Well I’m currently debating on helping your boyfriends bust you out of here. Does that count as ok?
“None of your business.” He said instead, not sparing Finn another glance. If Finn had any idea what was going on, he’d try to put a stop to it. Regulus knew the type – self-sacrificing idiots. He’d rather sit there and get beaten to a pulp than put the other two in danger. Best to save him the extra stress and just not say anything.
Plus, this could be his chance to get out too. Instead of trying to get out on his own and then having no safe connections outside the Snakes besides his brother, he’d have a group to travel with. Safety in numbers, and all that. People who actually knew where they were going and who would watch his back. They would owe him after this, and that meant a leg up. It meant a safety net.
Regulus unlocked his phone again and started typing.
Listen carefully.
