Shadow Realm King Mini-Tournament

Many men put up a valiant fight in the first round, but fell to the clutches of the Shadow Realm. Powerhouses of Pretty, Foxy Frontrunners, Head Honchos of Hubba-Hubba...all of whom have reached their demise in round one. Much as Fredric March did at @hotvintagepoll, one of these musicians will rise to greatness as King of the Shadow Realm. As Tumblr only allows twelve poll options maximum, I've chosen a select few from the 128 defeated musicians to fight for the Shadow Realm crown, musicians that came close to victory, some that even led the pack at one point, but ultimately did not succeed. Now, it's up to you, the voters, to pick the hottest of these losing hotties to reign supreme.

The Queer Fanfiction Project: Another Update

As December turned into January, our young hero did not know there existed something harsher than the winter, but as timetables turned into outlines and outlines turned into drafts, she knew there was more ahead than the usual bitter winter air. When faced with thousands of GDPR documents to read through, she persevered. When fighting 80k words of data to analyze, she prevailed over the darkness. And, when confronting a vicious hoard of enemies (a 15 page paper with only 5 pages, sudden bouts of writer’s block, an unfortunate cold, a pretty intense latin assignment and 1,5 weeks until the project deadline), she gathered her weapons, braced herself, and advanced. Historians will say that she set out with barely any weapons in her arsenal: A spiteful determination, a fuckton of advil and a playlist consisting mostly of angry swing music, but somehow, she triumphed over evil. Probably because of the power of friendship or something idk Anyways- I’ve finally sent in the final draft for my project! Wooooo!!! There’s still a lot of revision and stuff so people probably won’t get to read it til the begining of April, but we’re getting there, folks!

According to NBC here in the US, the missing titanic sub has been found. As debris. Off the bow of the Titanic wreckage.

And it looks like the sub suffered what we all suspected, and what was undoubtedly the more merciful of the two options: a catastrophic implosion from the pressure.

Also, more info has come to light about the fishing trawler with the hundreds of migrants that sank cataclysmically off the coast of Greece, indicating that the greek coast guard knew about the vessel AND how much trouble the vessel was in, and were towing it at a speed that made it capsize, at which point they unhooked the tow line and watched the trawler sink without helping the passengers to safety. Despite a bunch of other ships trying to help as well throughout the whole ordeal.

So a lot of people are dead, all because of regulations (and the lack thereof) regarding sea-faring vessels and rescue protocols. People shouldnt be allowed to make a business charging a ton of money for a ride on an uncertified, unsafe, un-seaworthy ship going deep into the ocean with no distress beacon or tether to the mothership. People also shouldnt be allowed to enact laws that criminalize the ferrying of refugees, which then force the refugees to hitch rides on fishing trawlers, and which also prevent people from helping those fishing trawlers full of refugees due to fear of legal consequences.

Hopefully BOTH of these events spark changes on an international scale in terms of what is legally allowed to be sailed, who is legally allowed to be the passengers, and what the rescue protocols are in the event of disaster for any seafaring vessel, illegal or not. It shouldnt be just the global 1% who get 24/7 search parties and remote-operated submersibles helping rescue them.

#the question of 'what do we owe to each other' can be answered simply with 'the dignity of retrieving our remains when we die' #another answer is 'the dignity of thinking about each other fellow humans with similar motivations and feelings' #also 'stopping someones potentially self-destructive behaviors just because theyre rich and want to feel special' #also i feel like humans have been sailing the seas long enough that it should be guaranteed that people will survive sea voyages #im very mad about specifically mediterranean maritime disasters because we have ancient writing saying they made it safe #sailing from Egypt to Greece was so old hat and safe that people legit took the ancient equivalent of cruises back and forth #cleopatra habitually sailed from alexandria to rome with a ton of ships and was fine #Nero tried to have his mother drowned at sea by orchestrating a dramatic shipwreck while she was our sailing AND SHE SURVIVED #and then swam to shore got back to rome and whooped his ass #fuckin pliny the elder tried to evacuate people from pompeii and the surrounding coast villages when vesuvius erupted #and he actually WAS able to rescue people #but he himself had an asthma attack from the fumes which led to a heart attack and he died on the beach #there is legit no excuse for that trawler of migrant refugees to have wrecked #negligence all around #anyway #oceangate

being a kafhime truther is being normally deranged and magnifying at the available dialogues to decipher and create meaning behind layers and layers of history we do not know of yet. quite frankly the reason why im still very much stuck in my own head bc of pondering through perspective methods to see why their dialogues and gestures the way they are (other than, ofc, writers and directors' decision)

think abt how 90 percent of himeko's dialogue is filled with direct and indirect mention of kafka during the destination alteration scene. and in a new player's pov, it can be treated as himeko's and kafka's 1st encounter— yet everyone can also notice how tensed and passive aggressive the atmosphere was when kafka appeared and took the floor. [case in point with himeko's reaction and body language: kafka appeared, himeko held her forearm in recognition and side-eyed kafka— shifting her head together with her body in an attempt to ignore kafka.

[then, the famous tension scene that would make u want to rewind and see what u missed bc why is girlie so mad]

kafka nearing himeko's line of view; himeko glancing at her nails then crossing her arms in guard— again, in an attempt to dismiss kafka and assert that kafka's presence is not something that she can't handle. kafka paused intentionally, eyes looking forward yet the subtle and brief flicker of it, as if awaiting for any acknowledgement from himeko (himeko saying "stellaron hunter" with distaste) and when she did, kafka giggled. and kafka, well, she gestured at himeko as if it really was their first encounter, yet how she smirked at the end with eyes crinkling in the slightest tells otherwise.

march in an attempt to interrupt kafka's unwarranted presence but was subdued with himeko's signal. which makes u think cuz, really, who even lets a stellaron hunter even speak when others would immediately turn hostile against them and apprehend them asap.]

AND THEN...

himeko: perhaps next time you'll be willing to pay us a visit in person and we can continue our little discussion.

in kafka's companion quest:

something abt how himeko keeps saying that in her dialogues when kafka's involved makes me think. makes a lot of us think. this then can probably cue us of how owlbert hinted (or even deadass exposed himeko) that they do have had encounters and it piques our interest as to how, why, when, and where in those moments — were they intentional? happenstance that turned to destiny? and so much more.

and how many in those encounters did himeko hoped that kafka would show up in person often than on wanted posters and news media and bulletin boards of her bounty and crimes? than on rumors and words from people's prejudices and opinions that she hears about her?

i can only make out from these dialogues is that himeko knows kafka (and the stellaron hunters) would need her help.

there is, after all, a grace of sincerity when someone shows up in person.
