Some notes:
No new tags that I saw this month, though as always I could have missed something! As you can see, we already have quite the assortment of canonized tags.
Fics are still primarily in english, but we have three exceptions with significant spanish fics. Karmaland (740 of 842 are in spanish, from 731 last month), Tortillaland (110 of 115 are in spanish, the same as last month), and QSMP (752 of 7,375 are in spanish, from 668 last month.)
QSMP also shows 39 fics in French, up from 30 last month, and 405 in Brasilian Portugese, up from 375 last month. While I did not check every language this month, I checked on the languages I knew had a fic in QSMP and we see 1 fic in ASL (probably a misclick as it appears to be in english), 1 fic in Bahasa Malaysia, 1 fic in German, 1 fic in Esperanto, 1 fic in Filipino, 5 works in European Portugese, 5 fics in Русский (Russian), 1 fic in Suomi (Finnish), 1 fic in Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese), and 3 fics in 中文-普通话 國語 (Mandarin Chinese, I believe), all the same as last month. New is two fics in Polski (Polish), one fic in Svenska (Swedish), and one fic in Dansk (Danish).
In the small and micro fandoms (under 200 fics), some of the most active small fandoms have grown out of this category so we only saw small amounts of growth. The standout fandoms all saw an increase of 6 works, and that was a tie between Content SMP, New Life SMP, and Witchcraft SMP. Note that Content SMP was coming up from only 24 works, so 6 new works is an increase of 25% of the fandom, truly impressive.
In the midsize fandoms (200-1000), Fable SMP has broken that 1000-fic mark and can no longer qualify for our standout fandom! Instead, our most active fandom was Evolution SMP, with 33 new works, followed by Mystreet with 20 fics and Minecraft: Story Mode with 24 fics. Mystreet and Story Mode are both new fandoms so it's unclear whether that's people retagging old work or true new fics.
For the post-canon big fandoms: Empires went up by 178 works, singificantly more than last month's 117, but not beating the previous month's 240, and Dream SMP's increase of 918 beat the previous month's 767, but is still only the second time I've seen this fandom fall under a thousand works plus a month. Hermitcraft is between seasons right now, but still experienced that holiday exchange boost, as its increase of 784 beat both last month's 574 and the previous month's 651. For active fandoms, traffic series posted a staggering 831 fics, which is its highest ever number, beating April 2023's 671 fics. QSMP saw 865 fics, which is part of a three month decline (894 last month, 913 the month before), but still posting numbers that are only exceeded by DSMP.
Overall, the number of fics posted under Video Blogging-RPF (the umbrella fandom that contains all MCYT) is 4,223 fics, a significant increase from last month's 3,489, and the previous month's 4,035, but still exceeded by October's record 4,702. Notably, it's higher than the summer numbers and almost exactly the same as the number we saw last January, 4,235 new works.
Detailed breakdown under the cut

The Sailor Moon Reboot Universe: A War Veteran's Memories
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
As someone who loves and appreciates art, I just. I can't with Crystal/Crystal Season 3/ Eternal/ Cosmos anymore. The Moonie community has been failed time and time again by Toei. From animation to animation change, the quality of SMC/III/E/C continues to be lackluster because Toei refuses to give the project the attention it deserves, and pay their animators. As Sailor Moon Cosmos draws ever nearer, (ye gods), I would love for you to partake in my little Sailor Moon Crystal Failures Recap Sampler Platter, as we share in the succulent delights of generic animation, terrible character designs, and empty animated eyes.
Sailor Moon Chrysler:
Ok, so in Crystal we see an attempt at Naoko Takeuchi’s manga artstyle. There are some difficulties here though. We all know the Crystal song and dance- Web series budget, overworked and underpaid Filipino animators, Toei being the worst, etc etc. But hot take? At least they tried *something* original.
Tumblr media
I mean, this doesn’t look Amazing. The shading on the hair is bland, the face lacks the elasticity and expression of the manga, there is very little detail, ya know. But it’s something newish! With the proper budget, this style could look immaculate, and in some shots it do:
Tumblr media
Gorgeous shot, detail, 15/10, no notes. For the majority of the show though? Mmmmm. 4/10? 3.5/10?
SMC: World War III:
Although Toes gave SMC3 the semblance of a budget and moved it to TV broadcast, they also changed the character designs to be. Well.
Tumblr media
They look very Pretty Cure.
Tumblr media
And look, I adore Pretty Cure, ok? I am consuming Hirogaru Sky content on my TL  like a queen ant consuming food from worker ants. I am Just as invested in my son Cure Wing as all you other magical girl ne'er-do-wells. But the style of Pretty Cure does not suit the Sailor Moon manga style-some would say it is diametrically opposed to it in many ways.
Tumblr media
Look at the gorgeous flowing hair, delicate linework, transparent effects.
Now, the criminal on trial:
Tumblr media
Overly cutsiefied proportions and faces, thick, (by comparison), linework, far too much shine effect on the hair and eyes, zero amounts of ethereal beauty, and also Mercury’s AWOL eye.
UGHHHHH.
Considering how iconic Sailor Moon is, and how fucking POPULAR IT IS, JESUS ON THE CROSS TOEI WHAT IS THE MISCOMMUNICATION HERE?
And I know that discourse about the SMC animation is a bit, shall we say, expected, but I needed this little refresher to make my point.
Sailor Moon Cosmos/ Eternal is not an improvement, and just continued neglect on Toei’s part to get literally any part of this project right.
CosTernal:
Ok, so, when we first got the character designs for eternal in 2019, I was skeptical. The return of Kazuko Tadano, an excellent animator on the original 90’s Sailor Moon anime originally heartened me, and then:
Tumblr media
They just look kind of??? Cheap?? None of their poses are particularly eye-catching, the proportions look Very strange (Mars’s legs are broken, wtf is Jupiter’s knee, Venus’s left arm is Way too short, Moon’s right foot is missing, etc), and the faces just look. A bit dead inside. Moon and Moon Jr are the only ones with *expressive* expressions; the other girls just have these flat smiles, with Jupiter/Mars having the same mouth, as do Venus/Mercury.
This was official art, after years of silence, from a renowned animator.
What the Fuck.
The style is still lacking that singular SM manga flair, and just looks like the 90’s designs with the actual heart of the characters removed. It was deeply frustrating to me as a long time Sailor Moon fan.
The animation in the actual movies wasn’t much better-nothing stand out, nothing even close to the lovely ethereal style of the manga.
Tumblr media
One more time for the people in the back, bad proportions, zero detail, empty eyes, personality-less Senshi, can I get an Amen?
The Present:
Sailor Moon Cosmos parts 1 and 2 are scheduled to be in theaters this summer, and from the looks of the promotional images we’ve received so far, they don’t appear to be an improvement:
Tumblr media
Another piece of official promotional material that’s off model, (what is happening with her head? Her hands????), and uninteresting. Sailor Moon, sitting on a roof, in front of Tokyo skyscrapers. Very hecking original and cool, very interesting, much creative. Its composition is off, but more importantly, it lacks the Rizz one would expect from an official Sailor Moon poster. Take a look at these from the 90’s anime:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dynamic, interesting poses, great composition, stunning colors, consistent art quality. A tall order, huh?
The most recent poster we got is slightly, better but not much:
Tumblr media
At least there is some pizazz, but the stale air remains. This looks like *generic movie poster here*, like
Tumblr media
*characters posed in front of Bad Guy, looking Determined and Angry*.
Final Thoughts:
I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade; if you are genuinely earnest and excited for Sailor Moon Cosmos, I hope it blows your socks off bestie. If you loved the animation for or just the Sailor Moon Reboot Universe in general, that’s amazing! Please keep enjoying it, and let it make your life a little better.
Personally, though, I just can’t get over the disappointment. An amazing, universally beloved franchise with this much room for creativity only comes once in a while. Imagine if we had gotten a reimagining of the Sailor Moon story, a la PGSM, or Sera Myu? What if Toei had given the project CardCaptor Sakura: Clear Card levels of love and budget. Instead, we were given half-assed animation and designs, with little story to go with it, (that’s another post though).
If you were wondering why the new reboot was rubbing you the wrong way, or didn’t have the words to describe your nagging doubts, I hope this helped! If any Sailor Moon fan found this worthy and informative, I did what I meant to do. Sailor Moon Crystal/Season III/ Eternal/ Cosmos is nice in sentiment, but in practice Toei continues to lure fans with the promise of quality Sailor Moon animated content, only to provide next to nothing, and screw their animators over in the process!
However much of a blow-hard I sounded in my screed though, I am actually not too worried. The Sailor Moon fandom is uniquely creative and amazing- we continue to make our own art, animations and contributions to the lore- all  without exploiting workers! Sailor Moon Crystal was a disappointing project, and Cosmos is a lackluster end, but I’ve got all the Moon content I need right here.
Sarada ba!

Who should play Miles Morales in the MCU?
Tumblr media
Shameik Moore has dropped hints about wanting to play a live-action version of Miles. Recently, he posted his plans to lose weight on Instagram so fans can 'see Miles more clearly'. This caused a divide amount fans about whether or not he's a good fit for the role. Shameik has done an amazing job bringing once a lesser-known spidey from the comics to the big screen by voicing Miles in the Spider-Verse trilogy. He made this character his own and I understand why he feels he should play him in live-action. However, Moore is currently 28 years old, with the third animated spider-verse movie still in production, it would be some time before we might see a live-action Miles movie. In the comic books, Miles was a middle schooler when he took up the mantle of Spider-man, much younger than his mentor, Peter Parker. In the most recent film, Across the Spider-Verse, Miles is 15. It makes sense for Miles to be younger than Tom Holland and/or Peter Parker in the MCU when he is introduced. Tom is 26 and Peter is currently 18 years old, the age of a college freshman, at the end of No Way Home. If and when a live-action Miles comes to fruition, Shameik More could be 30+.
The other issue with Shameik Moore, and a lot of other fan-casts I have seen online, is that he is not Afro-Latino. A considerable part of Miles' identity is that Miles is mixed-race with his mother being Porterican. Having an actor who is mixed or from a Latinx background play Miles is extremely important for Afro-Latino representation. My number one pick for live-action Miles is the actor Miles Brown. Not only does he happens to share the same first name as our web-slinging hero, but that's not all they have in common. Brown is also Afro-Latino; his father is Black-American and his mother is of Filipino and Mexican descent. He is currently 18 years old, the same age Tom Holland was when he first started playing Peter Parker. Brown and Holland are both the same height, and Brown has expressed interest in the role of miles, as well. Brown is a triple threat, being a trained dancer, starring in music videos from a young age, as well as having released a rap album in 2020. Brown is best known for his role as Jack Jonhson in the comedy tv series, Blackish, earning him several nominations, and a Young Artist Award win.
In my opinion, Miles Brown is the perfect Miles Morales, as much as we all love Shameik Moore's depiction of Miles in the animated films. But, Shameik might still work playing an older version of Miles in the multi-verse, or even (spoilers) Prowler Miles, as seen at the end of Across the Spider-verse, although the role of Prowler seems to be already cast as Donald Glover based on his cameo. What are your thoughts? Who do you think should play Miles if/when he enters the Main MCU timeline in live-action?

Just heard Filipino gay men shitting on Filipino lesbians.
Well i have one thing to say:
There’s a reason we’re the first letter of the acronym.
I can’t believe that after we are being sexualized by men, & less acknowledged by the media and entertainment industry, we are being shitted on by people on our community.
Just because you got your own success with web series and also 2 drag shows (which I fully supported), doesn’t make you the main character not tun the world.
Other acronyms exists. Don’t act like queens, leeches.

Barriers to Filipino Intercultural Communication
The beauty of movies is in how they mirror society. So I chose two whose scenes really stuck out to me.
Teddie saving face in “Four Sisters and a Wedding”
SYNOPSIS: In the movie "Four Sisters and a Wedding", the youngest and only son, CJ, convinces his four older sisters, Teddie, Bobbie, Alex, and Gabbie, to return home for his wedding. Throughout the movie, his family, the Salazars, and his fiancée's family, the Bayags, engage in a series of altercations to stop the wedding - from the Bayags forcing CJ to sign a prenuptial agreement, up to the Teddie attempting to get dirt on the Bayags' massage business. Their conflict reaches an all-time high at a charades game to determine which dresses will be worn, when the Bayags began to heavily insinuate that Teddie is a maid. Their mother, Grace, felt insulted and ended the game to confront Teddie about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Teddie reluctantly reveals that she lost her teaching job abroad, so she secretly took up two jobs as a waitress and as a maid to continue sending money to her mother. She explains that she only did that to maintain her family's perception of her as successful.
Tumblr media
ANALYSIS: Teddie "saving face" is a good example of a common barrier in intercultural communication. Oftentimes, Filipino households prescribe its members with social roles and identities, resulting in power dynamics between them. As the eldest daughter and arguably the favorite child, Teddie felt a responsibility to live up to her mother's expectations of her, and to serve as a role model for her younger siblings. Thus, she spun an elaborate web of lies just so that her family will not look down on her. However, when Bobby revealed that she actually saw her working at a bar on her visit abroad but chose not speak to her, nor tell her mother about it so that she would not feel embarrassed, Teddie realized the love and respect her siblings had for each other that transcended their socioeconomic status.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I'm not perfect, but I am your mother. I will always love you in the best way I know how."
Tumblr media
This barrier may be resolved through positioning, wherein people acknowledge and address their power dynamics, social roles, and identities in intercultural communication. In the movie, each of the children confessed their shortcomings as a sister/brother, and as a daughter/son. Even their mother, Grace, apologized for unknowingly treating them unfairly, and promised to become a better mother to them.  By recognizing their own positions and the impact of their actions on each other, they were able to overcome their conflicts and rebuild their relationship on a new slate. This shows how effective positioning is in resolving conflicts and enhancing intercultural communication within families and even broader social interactions.
The Tragic Tale of John Denver in "John Denver Trending"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: In the movie "John Denver Trending", John Denver's life turned upside down when he was accused of stealing his classmate Makoy’s iPad. His classmates, who have been bullying him for a long time, took his bag and went through his belongings despite his innocent pleas. Enraged, he beat up Makoy, while another classmate recorded the fight and uploaded it on Facebook. He became a social pariah overnight, and was subject to national scrutiny with the school, the police, the town mayor and the DSWD who were all trying to get him to wrongfully confess to the crime, despite the lack of decisive evidence. Unbeknownst to everyone else, his classmates were plotting to take him down by spreading rumors around the school, posting false testimonies against his character online, and even lying to the authorities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ANALYSIS: Even before the viral video circulated online, John Denver’s reputation was problematic- his father left his family, he owes his neighbor money, and he has multiple disciplinary records at school. Thus, despite the lack of decisive evidence pointing to him as the thief, the entire school, town, and even the country were so quick to condemn him because he fits the negative stereotype of a juvenile delinquent. Knowing that he had no way of defending himself, his classmates posted dirt on him online- how he steals food from his classmates and beats up people when he gets angry, among others. Thus, the community's prejudice against John Denver was fueled by their preconceived notions on what they saw on the viral video and social media posts by his classmates defaming him. As a result of harmful stereotypes and prejudices against him, John Denver was discriminated against by his peers, the school administration, the local government officials and the police. Despite his innocence, he was treated unfairly because of the misleading viral video that failed to communicate the whole context.
Tumblr media
"Mahirap lang ba ang pwede magnakaw ng iPad?"
Tumblr media
This barrier may be resolved through reflection, wherein people examine and reflect on their cultural biases, opinions and behaviors and take action to rectify these through intercultural communication. In the movie, the school principal met with John Denver, his mother, Makoy, and Makoy’s mother. Each party tried to understand the other, but their arguments came to a stalemate with neither side backing down. The situation worsened when the bullies showed no remorse for their defaming of John Denver, and went as far as to falsify evidence just to punish him even further. In the end, when John Denver was cornered by so many people who pressured him to admit, he took his life. Ideally, these people should have reflected on how their thoughts and actions affect others, especially since the victim is part of a marginalized sector of society. By engaging in introspection and self-reflection, people could develop a better understanding of their point of view and that of others, thus fostering empathy and creating the potential for more meaningful and effective communication.

Some notes
A new fandom this month! Showtime SMP is new, bringing this up to 49 tags that I track.
Fics are still primarily in english, but we have three exceptions with significant spanish fics. Karmaland (750 of 857 are in spanish, from 740 last month), Tortillaland (109 of 115 are in spanish, down from 110 last month), and QSMP (827 of 8104 are in spanish, from 752 last month.)
QSMP also shows 43 fics in French, up from 39 last month, and 452 in Brasilian Portugese, up from 405 last month. While I did not check every language this month, I checked on the languages I knew had a fic in QSMP and we see 1 fic in ASL (probably a misclick as it appears to be in english), 1 fic in Bahasa Malaysia, 1 fic in Dansk (Danish), 1 fic in Deutsch (German), 1 fic in Esperanto, 1 fic in Filipino, 5 works in European Portugese, 2 fics in Polski (Polish), 7 fics in Русский (Russian) (up from 5 last month), 1 fic in Suomi (Finnish), 1 fic in Svenska (Swedish), 1 fic in Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese), and 3 fics in 中文-普通话 國語 (Mandarin Chinese, I believe). While a 한국어 (Korean) speaker was recently added to the QSMP, there are currently no fics in 한글 (written Korean).
In the small and micro-sized fandoms, several of the smaller fandoms posted a decrease, including Legacy SMP, Bear SMP, and Area Unknown. HBG, on the other hand, posted a frankly impressive 16-fic increase, and both New Life and Witchcraft saw a 8-fic increase.
In the mid-sized fandoms, the showstopper was Minecraft Diaries, which went up a staggering 140 fics, which makes me suspect a sub-tag got wrangled into them. Pirates SMP and Outsiders SMP both saw 20 fic increases, and Mystreet saw an increase of 24 fics.
In the post-canon big fandoms, Empires went up by 188 works, which is an increase on both January's 178 and December's 117, but not beating November's 240. Dream SMP's increase of 591 works is the single lowest number I've seen since I've started tracking tags, being exceeded by both January's 918 and December's 767, which were the first months I'd seen the increase being lower than a thousand. 3rd Life, now that we're outside of a season, posted a respectable 558 fics, down from last month's record high of 831.
In the currently airing big fandoms, Hermitcraft saw that new-season boom, as it posted 716 fics, not as high as January's 784 (holiday exchanges), but beating both December and November's 574 and 651. QSMP posted 729 fics this month, which is part of a four-month decline (865 last month, 894 the month before, 913 the month before), but is still the fandom with the single biggest increase over a month. Incidentally, that means that Dream SMP is beat by both Hermitcraft and QSMP this month, and 3rd life is close behind it.
Overall, the number of fics posted under Video Blogging-RPF (the umbrella fandom that contains all MCYT), is 3,513 fics, down from January's 4,223, December's 3,489, and November's 4,035. Incidentally, it's very close to what we saw last year at the same time, as February '23 saw a VB RPF increase of 3,674.
Detailed breakdown under the cut.
The Cube SMP (8 works, 8 last month, 0-fic increase)
Slamacow Minecraft Animations (Web Series) (10 works, 10 last month, 0-fic increase)

Becoming Filipino: For our grandchildren's children
Tumblr media
In a world where prosperity and freedom roams alongside with injustice and oppression, Jose Rizal once said:
"I am writing for other ages. If this could read me, they would burn my books, the work of my whole life. On the other hand, the generation which interprets these writings will be an educated generation; they will understand me and say: Not all were asleep in the nighttime of our grandparents."
As Dekada Productions accomplish the generation of our controversial satirical work, entitled BECOMING FILIPINO; I look back and reflect on our journey. From the conceptualization to the proposal, production, and down to our very purpose of telling this story from all the other stories we could have told...
Why Becoming Filipino?
Becoming Filipino is a satirical web series, presenting three video PSAs, that delves into realms of the Philippine socio-economic structures, gender roles, and the struggles of marginalized communities, presented in a manner that not only informs but "horrifies" audiences of the harsh reality Filipinos face at present.
At present...where some thrive, others are forced and oppressed into this unjust and prejudiced society.
There are diverse umwelts and narratives we may not see but others do. Through this, we give an avenue and platform of storytelling digitally.
However, despite its digital nature, Becoming Filipino extends beyond the screen to foster awareness and understanding of the diverse and nuanced realities faced by various Filipinos today. Wherein, this today we portray through the series will be seen by our peers, by our children, our grandchildren, and as history.
This immortalized form of storytelling leverages as a catalyst for social reflection and change for the present, and especially, the future.
But simply showing and informing the future does not suffice. They must be able to feel it, sense it, experience it for themselves in a way that history does not repeat itself.
Through this, we utilize the horror genre and an interactive aspect, departing from the traditional horror narratives, but instead through analog horror which focuses on the unsettling and eerie atmosphere, creating a long-lasting and deeper departure after viewing.
Reality machine, through somatic simulation, paracosm and pharmakon, generates this digital story into reality-like. Tapping into real experiences and realities faced by everyday people, such through the national ID required by every Filipino into this satirical piece, which actually uncovers the deeper and actual truth one hasn't seen.
Tumblr media
As we conclude our journey with "Becoming Filipino," it becomes apparent that our undertaking extends far beyond the creation of a satirical web series. In the words of Jose Rizal, who wrote for ages beyond his own, our intent is not just to inform the present but to resonate with the educated generations to come. "Becoming Filipino" stands as a testament to the importance of experimentation prevailing in storytelling. We dared to delve into the realms of socio-economic structures, gender roles, and the struggles of marginalized communities, presenting these issues in a manner that not only informs but provokes a sense of horror—a visceral reaction that lingers.
In a world where stories are kept forever, our choice of storytelling format becomes crucial. The horror genre, particularly the unconventional approach of analog horror, aims to leave a lasting impact. Analog horror, with its focus on an unsettling and eerie atmosphere, facilitates a departure from traditional narratives. Through somatic simulation, paracosm, and pharmakon, we transform our digital story into a reality-like experience. The interactive aspect becomes a tool for the audience to not just witness but immerse themselves in the harsh realities faced by Filipinos today.
The semiotic stratification, from discourse to design, production, and distribution, played a pivotal role in shaping our narrative. This meticulous approach allowed us to create a story that goes beyond the screen, reaching the minds and hearts of our audience. "Becoming Filipino" is not merely a commentary on the present; it is a form of storytelling that will be witnessed by our peers, children, grandchildren, and by history itself. This immortalized form of storytelling serves as a catalyst for social reflection and change, urging future generations to feel, sense, and experience the realities we've depicted, ensuring that history does not repeat itself. In this endeavor, the importance of experimentation prevails, ensuring that our story becomes a timeless vessel for understanding, empathy, and societal evolution.
Tumblr media
As I move further into my (hopeful) career into film writing and different forms of digital storytelling, the journey with Becoming Filipino serves as a cornerstone, shaping my approach and perspective. The experimentation, amalgamation of horror elements, and the intricate process of semiotic stratification have deepened my understanding of the profound impact storytelling can have on societal reflections. The immersive experience of crafting a narrative that transcends the screen, coupled with the unconventional analog horror genre, has instilled in me a commitment to push the boundaries of traditional storytelling. It is within this juncture that I recognize the enduring power of stories to shape perceptions, evoke emotions, and, most importantly, prompt meaningful dialogue. Becoming Filipino stands as a testament to the transformative potential of storytelling in fostering awareness, understanding, and social change—an insight that I carry forward into the uncharted territories of my evolving career in the realm of digital narrative creation.

#OneNETnewsInvestigates: Paid2Play uncovers significant concerns about transaction delays, scams and fraudulent activities, leading to questions of legitimacy [EXCLUSIVE]
Tumblr media
(Written by Miko Kubota and Mitch Williams / Bailley Mass Communication News Intern for OneNETnews, Radyo Bandera Patrol #4 news reporter of OneNETnews and Station Manager & President of OneNETtv Channel)
PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- In a whole wide world where online earning opportunities and virtual job seeking enthusiasts are increasingly enticing, a skeptic 'get paid to' online platform has caught the attention of many global techy users. The so-called "Paid2Play" brings a wide variety of options and real-life tasks. This platform has gained popularity among individuals seeking ways to make small or medium monetary income, rather than finding a better job in the outside world. However, concerns and claims suggesting potential scams and fraudulent activities have raised red flags for many users worldwide.
In this exclusive investigative news report of OneNETnews, we dive deeper into the workings of Paid2Play and attempt to uncover the truth about its legitimacy.
At first, Paid2Play is an online platform that enables users to earn rewards, cryptocurrencies such as Dogecoin, and real money payouts through popular payment channels like PayPal or American bank transfers like Wells Fargo and Chase Bank. It was started in the early Fall 2023. The website asserts its legitimacy, as stated on their official web page and social media accounts. According to their website, the said platform offers various virtual activities, including paid online surveys, clicking shady & phishing advertisements, participating in contests for selected users, and referring friends upon signing up for the first time.

Today, some of their users have had successful experiences with Paid2Play, when worldwide reports came in from our research and data analyses resources team of OneNETnews, indicate a series of red flags that raise concerns regarding the skeptic platform's legitimacy. These alarming signals include claims of potential website scams, fraudulent activities, click farming, misleading promotions, fake referrals, engagement manipulation through the same Internet Service Provider (ISP), and insufficient trust requirements to guaranteeing user's safety.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(CONTRIBUTED FILE PHOTO via FB and Paid2Play website)
Many users, particularly in the Philippines, have reported successful payouts using PayPal as demonstrated by a series of contributed screenshot photos, which later expanded globally. As these Filipino users and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), appeared to have received funds through the online platform, it suggests that Paid2Play is a legitimate avenue for earning money for at least some participants nationwide and worldwide, including right here in Central Visayas and Negros Oriental.
Business expert officials said that it is important to be cautious and critically analyze opportunities involving transactions and money exchange, between the United States of America (U.S.A.) and the Philippines.
Tumblr media
In line with this advice, we examined various testimonials, analyzed the proof section on the Paid2Play website, and scrutinized videos and posts on social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube (which were both owned by Meta Platforms Inc. and Alphabet Inc. for Google).
Tumblr media
(STOCK PHOTO COURTESY: Google Images / Fake engagement and spam-likers to be self-monitored by a suspected person at the social technology department)
Several testimonials and screenshots demonstrate successful payouts, others paint a different picture. Furthermore, some screenshots indicate potential click farming activities, with users claiming to have received rewards for minimal effort or engagement. Independent scrutiny is vital to better understand the trustworthiness of Paid2Play and to prevent falling victim to potential scammer and fraudulent platform to go out of business within a few years or more by seriously abusing its own system.
As we furtherly conducted its independent fact-checks from our investigative news team of OneNETnews, they are working closely to verify the legitimacy of Paid2Play's real money payouts, with the help of digitally integrated, international regulatory and our media partners of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and Tegna Inc.

Our news producer of OneNETnews (Jon Michael Calimpong) reveals the official and final payouts to be sent out through PayPal (which is locally regulated by the BSP and licensed internationally by the Monetary Authority of Singapore [MAS]).
If you look closely from its cash out listing of records, everything is all being determined so far when it comes to take surveys, downloadable shady & legitimate local apps for the next 30 seconds and participating medium or harder tasks to secure bonuses with a top dollar. Overall, payments are legally multiplied to 2x after the 2-week period from the actual amounts.
Theoretically speaking, since Paid2Play Limited is from the United States of America (U.S.A.), we can independently estimate our final total for the past few months in late-October 2023. The total cash out on PayPal to be sent sometime before the New Year's Eve on or before December 31st, 2023 is worth U$D1,919.90 (approximately PHP106,420.06). Keep in mind that these estimated cash out in local currencies as an example may fluctuate and need continuous approval from the Paid2Play's financial management and staff.

Not all of them online are to be facing trust issues that lack transparency in its privatized or limited operations from the source, and lots of requirements to distract and waste more time, making it harder or disrupting transactions of this said platform. We try to contact Paid2Play on OneNETnews for their potential statement response to all of these concerns via E-Mail or by Telegram messenger, they have yet to specifically comment to address these highlighted issues at the time of this writing.

Through an investigation into the legitimacy of 'Paid2Play', we have uncovered a mix of positive and negative experiences themselves. Although some worldwide reports and claims raise concerns about potential scams and fraudulent activities associated with Paid2Play, successful payouts documented by Filipino users indicate that the platform may indeed be legitimate for certain users and participants.
To make an informed decision, it is essential for users to exercise caution to yourself, and thoroughly research any platform that claims to offer monetary rewards to avoid falling victim to potential scams or misleading situations by mistake, before investing time or money in any online endeavor. While showing some signs of legitimacy, should be approached with caution until these concerns are effectively addressed and clarified by the platform's operators.
As with any online venture, the adage "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is" should remain top of mind for individuals considering participation on Paid2Play.

Conceptualization of Analog Horror Films
Truly, the amalgamation of diverse interests and perspectives has the potential to give rise to powerful mediums that can effectively convey social commentary and foster thoughtful discussions. The collective thoughts and power of any production team with a common interest is a force to be reckoned with. I’m grateful for my group as we have cohesively combined our different perspectives and talents to the table, forming a creative synergy that leads to our conceptualization of producing narrative through analog horror films.
At first glance, I know we have a message to tell, but exploring such a genre of analog films is a challenge. Fortunately, with our first proposal presentation with Prof. Lloren, he enlightened us and gave us critical comments that benefit the progress of our works, such as a compilation of images, videos, and potential inspirations that may provide us with a bigger picture of what we are working on. Given that each group member has a significant topic, we have curated analog horror films through a web series, which underscores a significant influence on our Filipino identity. This common purpose is the driving force behind creating a medium to initiate dialogue and make a profound impact.
Our narrative revolves around a young Filipino who is about to register for a Government-issued Identification Card. He logs on to a website to go through the registration process but is soon interrupted by an online bug, prompting him to click and be redirected to a subsite. Here, he is presented with three Public Service Announcement (PSA) videos that brief him on the pertinent information needed before proceeding—each revolving around different aspects of being Filipino.

We have categorized our series, "Becoming Filipino," into three episodes. The first is PSA 1: Me and You, which delves into the scientific side of storytelling, emphasizing informative insights about community building and socio-economic dynamics in the Philippines. It explores traditional gender roles and the social class structure in the country, encouraging viewers to recognize the significance of upholding conventional gender norms and examining prevailing social characteristics in Philippine society. The first video uses sensory elements and a focused approach to expand viewers' horizons, making societal awareness more tangible and sparking curiosity as subsequent PSAs unfold.

Following the pilot episode is the PSA 2, entitled Behind the Smile (is the Struggle), which employs sensory experiences to depict the lives of various sectors. It starts with a cheerful introduction of the working class and peasants, but their smiles turn into distressing expressions. The video then illustrates the Filipino struggle, highlighting issues like soaring commodity prices and limited access to social services in rural and urban poor areas. The initial worker and farmer are now shown trapped in oppressive circumstances, with the worker enduring harsh labor conditions as a temporary employee and the farmer lacking land ownership. The PSA swiftly transitions to the next segment.

Lastly, the series's third video, Why are you Filipino?, allows viewers to revisit the images and texts from previous PSAs, encouraging them to reflect on the harsh realities of life in the Philippines and confront existential concerns. As the audience's senses are heightened, they gain a deeper understanding of societal issues, and their Filipino identity becomes more palpable. This last PSA involves the viewer providing biometric information for their official government record and National ID. However, it takes a twist by presenting various individuals, including criminals and activists, asking, "Is this you?" This challenges the viewer's sense of identity and concludes with a National ID displaying a blank face.
Tumblr media
The heart of these collective endeavors is social commentary. The unique medium becomes a canvas for articulating opinions, shedding light on pressing issues, and challenging established norms. It provides a platform for creators to express their concerns, criticisms, and aspirations in a compelling and accessible manner. This stress on social commentary ensures that the medium serves a dual purpose - a means of creative expression and a catalyst for dialogue. Ergo, the power of collective consolidation is not limited to the creation of the medium itself; it extends to the reception and engagement of the audience.
