Guys…You should not panic or give up…Please continue to call or email your Senator.Keep signing the petition. Keep saying you are against Kosa.. We must succeed so that the Senate or House cannot pass the bill.If we give up, panic or do nothing, they will pass this bill.We have to do everything in our power.. We have to work hard that they did NOT pass the bill.
We have to stop this before they pass the bill. The more we do this or say that we are against Kosa bill, the more likely they will not be able to pass the bill.So keep calling, emailing or faxing that you are against this.Keep signing the petition..Keep talking..
Don't let the bill censor the internet..Don't let us lose the internet..They don't have the right to censor us
I am against the Kosa Bill..I am against censorship

any news on KOSA?
UPDATE KOSA 4/10/24
KOSA has unfortunately been introduced to the house of representatives. However, we have not heard if it has passed senate yet.
Please keep fighting. If KOSA becomes law, I will not be able to run this account anymore.

Pillowfort is in need of support! Let's do what we do best >:3
I haven't used Pillowfort in a LONG time, and I never really was a regular user per se, but they're seeking funds right now to help keep them alive! Even if I don't use these sites often, it should absolutely still be acknowledged how important it is to have sites like this that aren't controlled by massive corporations. So if you're a Pillowfort user or just want to help support a free Internet, please consider tossing them a dollar or two!

So Google banned AO3 from showing up in search results in Germany. What now?
Start using (and paying for, if you must) standard VPN services that offer a wide range of international servers to choose from.
Stop using Google. Use Brave, for example. DuckDuckGo has also started filtering content just recently, so don't go there.
For that matter, use different search engines from time to time and avoid those based on google algorithms. Startpage, for example, uses google result. They're committed to privacy but not to neutrality.
Be aware that your government wants to curate your internet experience for you. It's all about control. They treat you like children, so be aware that they're trying to install "child safety" measures that you're probably not even aware of. The internet is a huge open space, but the things they permit you to see are getting fewer by the day, whether it's people, porn, or politics.
De-centralize your own internet experience. Don't use just one social network, one platform, use ALL of them. Just so that in case you're banned somewhere, you have a space to migrate to.
Back up your works. Back up your works. Back up your works. Do not use company-owned cloud spaces as back-up, save your works the old-fashioned way on external devices.
Start looking into peer-to-peer networks and blockchain technoly. Just in case.
BE AWARE THAT THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING.

I made 3 phonecalls today to my representatives in order to oppose censorship of the internet. It's my Constitutional right as a USAmerican to yell really loud about government policy I don't approve of.
I do not approve of internet censorship, criminalization of anything LGBT+, or criminalization of Sex Work. I don't agree that censorship or destroying end-to-end encryption will protect children online, and in fact I think it will make online spaces worse for them.
I also don't agree that telecommunications policies should be centered around children in the first place, since adults use the internet too.
I used <https://www.badinternetbills.com/> to do my yelling today, and you can too!

TIKTOK IS CURRENTLY BEING TARGETED!!
Context, tomorrow, the house is planning to vote to pass a bill in which will “ban tiktok in the US”
this isn’t the first time they’ve tried to ban tiktok, but it’s getting serious now and we need to have as much opposition AS POSSIBLE
and this won’t just happen to tiktok, if we allow this to go through, this bill will allow government to ban ANY app that they deem as a “security threat”
it’ll open the floodgates so that other apps like discord, instagram, twitter, and even tumblr could get banned as well
biden himself has said he will for sure pass this bill if it were to reach him
which is why we need HEAVY OPPOSITION TODAY
CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES AND TELL THEM TO NOT PASS THIS BILL

Do they really want to pass the bill? Will the Internet disappear forever today?!
Yes, they want to pass this damn Kosa bill, however we are STILL fighting with this..We don't want them to pass the bill..We are all against the bill. They did not pass the bill because we still continue to loudly say that we are against Kosa.We must not give up…We must continue to fight.
We are doing everything possible that they did not pass the bill and if we continue in the same spirit,we won it.. If we do nothing, we will lose the Internet forever
SAY YOU ARE AGAINST THE KOSA BILL...Tell Congress you are against the Kosa bill.
CALL/EMAIL/FAX YOUR REPS AND SENATORS.... Keep saying you are against the Kosa Bill..
Keep Fighting!!! Don't give up..We have to stop this!!
Tumblr media
Edit :
As for the second question, I already answered last time, but I will answer again
If they pass the bill, the Internet will not disappear immediately after the Kosa bill is passed. However, I don't want them to pass the bill
For it to become official law, they need to be voted on by a Committee, then go to the House, then to the Senator, then go to review and only then go to the President to sign..

Do you think kosa is actually going to pass?
Cause I keep on hearing rumors that it is going to…
While I do attempt to keep my opinions off of this blog, I will answer this question.
I feel like yes, there is a high probability of KOSA passing. Especially with bills akin to those in Florida and Kansas being passed.
I personally am against KOSA. I need you all to realize that if this passes, my blog is being deleted. I am a minor, and my parents do not know about my social medias. Nor do they need to know.
However, we must realize that
A: KOSA has not left senate as of April 5th (senate will not return until the 8th)
B: Many bills are being produced to provide better solutions to the problem KOSA claims to solve
C: It has to pass every other step in the law making process
D: The bill will not be enforced until 18 months after it is instated.
I highly encourage you all to research and protest. Do not take rumors at face value. Research. Look up what is true. If we don't look into things, misinformation can be spread. We do not know anything for sure until it happens.

When I buy things at steam I deadass know that I am not owning shit. Most of the time I DON'T (not) pirate the game in question afterwards, if I can. I am paying not for the fact of owning the game, but as a tribute to the devs. And I advise you do the same.

pretty sure Tumblr is manipulating public opinions by screwing over the tags and search results. They replaced timely contents with outdated posts, and there are 10+K posts being ignored in the tags. It’s pretty dumb to think those social medias are not manipulated by money or power. They just hide it “better” than their authoritarian counterparts. Fundamentally, they are all the same, which is why we need better, more democratic internet.
Support blockchain. Support web3 for free open internet. The people must fight back against all this shit. Next time, it might be you and no one will help spread your voice.

In this episode, Jared & I discuss the conflict in #Haiti, & the end of the Affordable Connectivity Program (#ACP) that provides internet to 1 in 6 in the US, that will potentially strip the most vulnerable of internet access, & the need for #nationalization of utilities and services.
Jared also treats us to an original song.
