I'm actually really curious about this. Clearly it wasn't WDAS' plan to make a Frozen 3 AND 4 at once in the beginning. It's during the writing process that they went "Oh, we'll make a 4th movie".

I wonder what it means. Did they have an idea for a final, definitive ending for the saga and thought "Wait, we'll need more than a hour and a half to get to that"? Did they plan a huge plot for Frozen 3, and with time through the screenplay writing they realized they could never make it fit in one movie and will do a sort of "Frozen Final Chapter - Part One and Part Two"? Will Frozen 3 AND 4 be marketed in one and only trailer, with epic, dramatic editing, with 'GET READY' 'FOR THE FINAL CHAPTER OF THE STORY' in big capital letters titles?

We shall see we shall see. I can't wait for the first trailer to drop!

So, we have this World of Frozen promotional images from Disneyland Hongkong, and I'm very intrigued who is that lady looking at the Aurora lights, while baking at late night in this picture, and if she will be important in the future promotion of this theme land 👀

FUN FACT : she looks exactly like my OC from 2020 (remaked in 2022), being Hans's partner 😅

The Frozenverse - A list of books, comics and more!

This was the first collaboration project for Arendelle Archives, where a project was reviewed by one or more members before its release. With this project, we aimed to list every known (to us) Frozen title out there. As of 2024, a few more titles have of course appeared like the novels All is found and The fixer upper but see this as a close-to-complete list of titles spanning from 2013 to late 2022!

Prepare for a long read as this list covers well over 300 unique titles over 53 pages, including everything from the movies and novels to chapter books and one-page comics.

We hope you will enjoy this journey into The Frozenverse!

We finally know the full layout of the canon Frozenverse!

Thanks to this post (requires an account) by twitter-user ann_mochi and this tumblr-post by @sparebutton , we FINALLY have a full map of the known Fozen movie-universe!

Previously, we've seen glimpses of the general geography of Arendelle and the surrounding lands from Frozen Fever, Frozen II and in books and promotion material surrounding the movies and I even wrote a 3-part series about Frozen's geography back in 2021, but never before has there been a source showing Anna and Elsa's world to its full extent and in such detail!

Thanks to this image being framed and hung on a wall, the process of aligning it correctly was very easy! I used my ancient copy of SketchUp to edit and match the photo to a flat surface and with the help of Gigapixel upscaling, this is the result!

Note: north is to the left.

It looks awesome IMO 😍

For future installments, what we're missing are labels for other adjacent kingdoms, but it appears Disney never seems to bother with such trivial worldbuilding details.

Below, I've put together a quick overview of the areas visible on previous Frozen maps.

The Frozen Fever map mostly covers ocean. The northern half of the continent was changed in Frozen II.

Iduna's map from Frozen II map was the most detailed version we had for a long time and it added things like borders and names for the Arenfjord and the Dark Sea. It covers 3/4 the full map.

Technically, the whole map was also featured in the books "Frozen: The Saga - Anna and Elsa's Journey" and "Frozen II: Spirits of the Enchanted Forest" but it was impossible to attempt any sort of aligning because of the distorted perspective.

There is one more piece of the worldbuilding-puzzle (Weselton) that could be added, but I'll save that for another time.

My little finding outside the movies - "Lars" ❄️

My forth finding is how many characters with the name "Lars" in books😄I believe most of the people know the Prince Lars of Southern Isles who's having his first appearance in "A Frozen Heart", but not only this Lars, I've found it's fun when there's lots of Lars in Frozenverse, it makes me wondering is it a common baby name in Arendelle😂

A conversation about Kristoff's arc on the "Frozen Podcast". I was never a big fan of the character or expected anything from him on the podcast, but honestly his relationship with the Duke of Weselton's nephew is interesting.

- THERE WILL BE PODCAST SPOILERS -

Queen Anna left for the Enchanted Forest with Elsa and Disa, leaving control of the kingdom to her boyfriend/fiance/husband (actually so far, episode 6, if you don't know the relationship between Anna and Kristoff you could interpret it as if they were just friends, but that's a recurring Frozenverse problem and not a podcast problem). And so just like Hans in "Frozen 1", Kristoff has to take care of things.

Although Kristoff is good at coordinating people, he is not very good at diplomacy, having to need Mattias' help to deal with the situation when he has to talk to the population.

And then we come to Wolfgang who, in addition to encouraging his new friend in his leadership duties, sometimes advises Kristoff to become an ice industrialist, thus modernizing his business. But Kristoff, realizing that this turn in his life could take him away from his passions and dreams, he denies the proposal, preferring to continue being simple Kristoff, the Ice Harvest. And Kristoff's response had a profound impact on Wolfgang, who ended up abandoning his dreams related to music and opera to pursue the industrial sector because of his family.

I don't know how much depth will go into the podcast, but I really thought it was a good moment for Kristoff.

So, I want to start out by saying that I know I have been a little quiet lately and haven't had any updates on posts. I had caught COVID and was fighting it for a while feeling horrible. I still feel pretty bad, but I'm slowly trying to come back. I am ecstatic to announce that, as you've already seen, Arendelle Archives is officially setting up a blog here on Tumblr. It will be launching January 6th. Keep an eye out, and be sure to follow!

With Frozen 3 now on the way, YouTube channel Geekritique revisits the story of Frozen as it stands so far in an expansive timeline video that compiles lore established across the movies, animated shorts, and tie-in books to create a detailed history of Arendelle.With the aid of dedicated fan group Arendelle Archives, the video begins with the grand designs of King Runeard (Jeremy Sisto), the shameful conflicts with Northuldra over the dam, Anna(Kristen Bell) and Elsa's troubled childhood, and the deaths of Agnarr (Alfred Molina) and Iduna (Evan Rachel Wood) that would lead into the original movie. Annals of Frozen_2nd edition

Greetings to the Frozen fandom! Today is Thanksgiving Day of 2022, also a special day for Frozen. I think most Frozen fans may have made their own way to celebrate the ninth (third) anniversary of Frozen (Frozen II)’s premiere. As for me, I prepared a special gift for Frozen: the second edition of Annals of Frozen, also the second formal work made by Arendelle Archives. Now, I am honored to present this book to Frozen fans all over the world!

Annals of Frozen is a chronicle for Disney’s Frozenverse that summaries the complete history of both Arendelle and Northuldra, based on nearly all the official works related, including shorts, videos, novels, comics, etc. Its first edition was released in August last year, and since then, we’ve received many valuable feedbacks on it, which contributed a lot to the update. Even if you have read its first edition, I still recommend you to read this new edition, not only because it includs lots of post-Frozen II events from novels and comics like Polar Nights: Cast into Darkness (Note: this book contains SPOILERS for NEARLY ALL Frozen-related works released 2013-2022!), but also for that we corrected some mistakes and made many great changes on it, like the new beautiful cover designed by Winter Loves Summer. I’m sure it will provide you with very different reading experiences!

Much thanks to my friends who are willing to review my work, Winter Loves Summer, FrozenHeart and Yumeka, especially Winter Loves Summer and FrozenHeart who spent a lot of time reviewing this book very carefully for several times. And I also want to say thanks to all the Frozen fans who have contributed to this book by pointing out mistakes or providing valuable suggestions. Elsa is number 5 because SHE'S THE FIFTH SPIRIT

Olaf is number 78, which are July and August months numbers, aka SUMMER

Kristoff is number 10 because he's a 10 out of 10

Hans is number 13 because he's the 13th son

World of Frozen in Disneyland Hongkong new pictures small analysis

So, few days ago, Thai journal website shared with us some new pictures from World of Frozen land in Disneyland Hongkong, and it seems like guest will can have meets and greets with the major Frozenverse characters 😭😍 At the moment, we have confirmation, that Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and probably Oaken will have their live action cast versions, which I have no doubt in, because they are loved by most of the people, so it's obvious they will play a major role in park ❤️

We also have more secret characters, like Sunniva Solberg, the owner of Northern Delights sweets shop, also avaliable in park, that is unknown will she have her live action counterpant in World of Frozen, altough she appears on the official promotional art 👀

And today, through that article, I also found out, that around the Arendelle castle in the land, the guests will be welcomed by cast member, who suspiciously looks like he will be Hans in World of Frozen 😭❤️ Guys, it's the same facial features as Disneyland California Adventure Hans this year, and it looks like Hans in World of Frozen (if it's him) will have a new, updated outfit, somehow close to his classic uniform in Frozen, but more Arendellian, which probably hints his newfound connection to Arendelle in future Frozen media, and more free and not so elegant, auburn hair 👀 And who could visit guests in the most major point, like not the close to be King of Arendelle and one of the most major characters? I know it's maybe a random character played by this cast member, but I really hope it's actually Hans, who will play a major role in promoting the park 😭😍

The flora and fauna of Frozen!

For our first new-ish entry to the Archive, allow me to introduce you to the flora and fauna of Frozen. Most fans probably recognise Sven the reindeer and the wolves from the first movie and the sunflowers in Frozen fever but did you know there are over 70 unique species of animals and plants featured, mentioned or referenced throughout the franchise?

In late 2022, I made a very short-lived series on Reddit covering two types of plants and one type of animal found in the Frozen movies. I felt it was time to expand the list a little…

I hope this will be the most comprehensive list of flora and fauna found in Arendelle and beyond ever made and I hope it will be of use to someone! I’m sure there are plenty of artists and writers out there who want to enrich their own Frozen world and hopefully this list can help!

I have arranged the list following a similar structure to my previous project The Frozenverse, starting off covering the movies and novels and then gradually moving into different story-material.

My Frozen story - Part 2

"But, isn't that just a kids movie about some reindeer?"

My dear mother had no idea what her 22-year-old son was getting into on November 20th 2014 😅 Following my introduction to Frozen via ABC's Once upon a time-series, I was eager to find out what all the fuzz about the original movie was about.

I still lived at home at the time (in the countryside) and I had asked my parents to see if the movie was available at the local library. I can’t remember if I watched it the same day I got it or not. Probably a few days later (on my old Philips not-even-full-HD monitor 😅).

Prior to watching it, I had learned a few things about the plot and it sounded unlike any other movie I had previously seen. In addition to that, I had watched the Let it go-scene which was very captivating and I was very much in love with the song and the animation!

Seeing the movie for the first time was a bit of an otherworldly experience. I’m not sure how to describe it. I think everything about the characters, the story and the setting just clicked for me. Even though I don’t even have a sibling, I was awestruck and very touched by the tragic story of Anna and Elsa. And the theme of isolation and feeling of being an outcast was something I could relate to, always having been the introverted quiet one with very niche interests. I think I saw a lot more of me in Elsa than I even realised at the time. I think I watched the movie three times in just a couple of days.

From the first day of experiencing it “properly”, I was very much in love with Anna and Elsa and their world of Arendelle, which seemed so familia to me, being from Norway's neighbour Sweden and having experienced the wilderness of this real-life Disney-like nation just around the corner. I still vividly remembered going there on vacation some 8 years earlier. So, it wasn’t just the characters and the story that made it feel like it was “my movie”. The landscape, the art, the culture and the folklore (trolls) also felt so close to home!

I had not expected to get pulled into a fandom the way I was because I usually never do and this is still true till this day - I haven't found anything else that I enjoy as much as Frozen. But this movie was just… I couldn’t get it out of my head! All the songs were so incredibly catchy! I think I spent most of winter 2014/15 just replaying them constantly in my head (and on my phone). I also couldn’t get rid of the feeling of how incredible it would be to get to see Anna and Elsa in real life. I guess this was really the first time I got to experience something like this 😊

And so, my journey into the Frozenverse had begun. I was thrilled when I learned there was a new Frozen short film coming out in 2015 (along with some Cinderella remake that I wasn’t really interested in) and I even brought my mother with me to see it in theatres. She had no clue at this time what Frozen was! She probably liked Cinderella better but I was a blessed Frozen fan! Funny enough, it was my mother who told me Disney had just announced they were gonna make a Frozen II…
