I think a lot of straight women's obsession with gay men comes from their desire to see men be vulnerable and treating a partner equitably, which historically hasn't been shown in heterosexual media. I think the failing comes in when this desire infringes on gay men's need for privacy and safety in their relationships. Straight women do deserve depictions of men who they can see their ideal partner in, but it should never be at the cost of gay men's needs

As a gay man I personally think fujoshis are very nice people who have good taste in manga

I don't see anything weird in enjoying gay or queer fiction in the same way I enjoy straight fiction. Sure I'm not big into manga or anime communities but fujoshis are usually very kind people who aren't the " fetishists " antis claim they are. They just like reading books.

Anti-fujoshi statements have also of the derailed into being anti m/m statements. How will you police the gender identity of someone reading a queer manga? Is a woman enjoying LGBTQ literature as a straight person really bad? At what point does it cross the line?

Your not weird for just... Reading stuff. Even if its smutty or whatever. Your not hurting anyone and as long as you follow the boundaries of your gay friends then you've got no bad blood with me.

There is something so inherently racist about the term “fujoshit”

Is it the fact that it screws up the Japanese language? Prrrrobably

(it really doesn’t help the fact that the “rotten” part of the translation came from MEN which means that you’re essentially supporting MEN WHO HATE ON WOMEN’S INTERESTS)(And we all know how sexist that is so not only is it sexism it’s also some kind of weird racism)

Btw fujoshi originally meant ‘respectable woman/lady’ but of course the men had to take it and make fun of them by ruining the term 😍😍😍 (I apologize on behalf of these men)

There is also the fact that himejoshi/-danshi means ‘princess girl/boy’ and that’s the term for yuri fans

Love it when the yuri fans (who tend to be male BUT NOT ALWAYS) have a pretty and sweet little title while the yaoi fans (usually girls) get a GROSS YUCKY COOTIES term that assholes made for them to make fun of them ❤️ /s

Why you need to watch Number24...

I'm about to go way, way back to a show that definitely slipped underneath ALL your radars: number24. It was a magical rugby anime chock-full of beautiful boys, fujoshi bait, and actual plot. Mind you, I had no idea how rugby even worked but I was seriously beyond excited at every action scene. The dialogue?? HILARIOUS. This show knew what it was doing with a female audience and the main character was shockingly snarky as hell.

I really can't put into words how wonderful the bromance vibes were. I am beginning to realize anime writers know exactly what they're doing with the animation there. It went to some extreme levels to bait me but I was digging every moment. Now, if that's not your vibe, you can still enjoy the character dynamics, friendships ("friends"...), and the "you can do it!" when it comes to beating rival teams. Mix in some fierce competition and tragic backstory.

I binged the entire show in a single day and... #noregrets. Your turn! Come back and tell me what you thought about that certain church scene...
