Just a simple something I had in mind for a Genshin otome game... I have 0 attention span, 0 time, and 0 knowledge to write and build a full-fledged 3D game with intricate stories, plot, and mechanics. This is just a simple visual novel with a streamlined plot and partial voices. You should be able to complete everything in like... 30 minutes long in total. Might be less, even.

◇ 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐬 ◇

The game will contain the following: established relationship, FLUFF, comfort, lots of pet names, suggestive themes, lots of kissy sounds on some routes, implications of violence (not towards player), a sprinkle of protective behavior

◇ 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 ◇

Zhongli, Xiao, Childe, Diluc, Kaeya, Itto, Kazuha (Zhongli is selected by default because who doesn’t love geo daddy???)

◇ 𝐰𝐡𝐨'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫? ◇

This is a very self-indulgent project, hence the dialogues were written with fem!player in mind. It will contain suggestive themes, so please be aware of that before downloading / playing!

Click the link to download the appropriate file based on your OS. Only Windows, Linux, and Mac are supported. No, I won't release it on other platforms.

Open the game, and you’ll find that it’s pretty straightforward. Customize your profile, select your love interest, then start the game.

There are no wrong answers and the love interest can be changed anytime (just go back to main menu and select the character’s picture on the right side).

◇ 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐢 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬? ◇

You can personally send links to this post / the game’s itch.io page to your friends via DMs, but outside of that (reposting), NO. For example, posting about this on Reddit is prohibited.

◇ 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞? ◇

This is a super casual project.

Scripts are not proofread. Probably lots of grammar mistakes.

Novel format without narration (full dialogs).

There are no actual sprites, just official art and something akin to a speech bubble to cater to the characters’ changes in ‘expression’.

There are voices, but only partial - mostly just grunts, chuckles, kisses, and stuff. I’m using JP voices EXCEPT for Itto because Max Mittelman is a gem. No, I will not add other languages' voice versions.

Sound cues and voices are quite important for this game so I recommend using headphones.

Depending on when you open the game (morning, afternoon, nighttime, midnight), your currently selected love interest might greet you differently.

To reiterate, there are no wrong answers.

Selecting all talk/act options for a character will unlock a small event where they'll give you unique gifts.

I lowkey have so many ideas on how to expand on this in terms of gameplay and options but let’s be real here it probably won’t happen lol why can’t my brain be this creative when it comes to work

Greetings, I am Diluc Ragnvindr. Welcome to Southern Gaciea. Unlike the North, East, and the West, the South is a tourist spot for outsiders. It's a closed off country, so outlanders will need to submit their documents to the department of domestic affairs. Perhaps you do not remember, but you've encountered many interesting individuals upon your arrival such as… Captain Dainsleif, the famous Western knight turned retainer for both Prince Lumine and her missing brother, Prince Aether; Lord Kamisato, the Eastern noble who controls Gaciean trade with just a flick of a wrist; Chief Albedo, the Head of Domestic Affairs and Chief Alchemist from unknown origins; Justice Ajax, the unreasonable Northern politician whom I often argue with; …And, of course, Duke Ragnvindr, the Southern Head of Military Affairs. As a fangame enjoyer sometimes I always wonder what that would be like in self aware. Like, do they know about these ‘fake’ games? Does Arceus fight tooth and nail to make the fakemon I like so much reality? Definitely not helping Volo with the whole god image, with how you control Pokemon that not even Arceus knows. Hell, are the fangames themselves self aware??? Do they know they technically aren’t real Pokemon games??

Self aware aus are so good. I love them so so so much!!!

From pokemon, to other fandoms (Such as genshin, castlevania, etc), self aware aus are just so good. They open up so many fun possibilities to explore, from horror, to fun friendship. Or in some cases, being mistaken for a god. Oops.

The dilemma of fakemon games make it even sillier. Though like you said, it could convince some that you might be a god given you play with worlds where specific types of battles and pokemon exist that don't exist there. Even Arceus is enthralled and confused.

And fangames being aware just adds a whole new layer to it. Just imagine playing pokemon on an emulator, and the self awareness spreads too all your other games too. From emulated to official. Now you have so many aware games. Oops.

its also funny how haters are like "palworld is a ripoff/bootleg of pokemon and ark and fortnite and genshin and monster hunter." like okay well at that point its not a ripoff than its a crossover. and when its apparently several things for reasoning such as "using a pickaxe" and "animations look similar" and "fast travel mechanics" and "boss fights" i think youre reaching.

like, if the dev team had started out this as a normal indie pokemon fangame, people would be hype, theyd still be if they were the typical english fangame making studio who decided to make it legally distinct because they wanted to make money off a quality project and make it their own. why is it suddenly changed in this case? even in the case of it being a mega-crossover fangame with lazy recolor ripped sprites, if that was true, i would still think its cool to see it made and i would still respect the fact they made a game thats genuinely fun for many people.

but of course because im kinda constantly on alert for it, i do think its weird that this is not just happening to a japanese game dev but also one who gets mistranslated on purpose and people act as if is american >_> but its def not a solid criticism of the angry pokefans but i do. keep my eye on it because i do think its a big strange
