Making a show in the window display of the houseplant shop ‘Rooted’ in Aberdeen was a specimen of an Alocasia species (giant taro, elephant’s ears). This architectural plant has impressive foliage and will thrive in a shady corner.

You worked at a place that was like a zoo but for sea creatures (aquarium). Most of the time you spent giving the children a tour of the place, or just playing with them as the parents got a break.

"And this kids is the petting area, where you can pet all of the sea creatures. But before you touch them let me show you how to handle them, so that you don't hurt them."

The children surrounded you as you crouched down to be level with the water table. The table was quite deep filled with water and aquatic life. You gently touched a black octopus that leaned into you touch with each pet.

Softly you pulled your hand out of the water, "and that's how you should handle all the sea animals so please be gentle, you are free to touch them." Soon all the children scattered around the water table, all but one.

"E-excuse me miss but I'm scared to touch one what if they hurt me." You crouched down to the boys level and you patted his head with your non- wet hand. "It's alright they won't hurt you I promise, do you want me to help you pet one?"

"Y-yes please" "alright what's your name I'm y/n." "I'm Tim" you gently grabbed Tim's hand and slowly led him over to the water table. Looking into the water table you grabbed the friendliest sea animal you knew.

The black octopus it was about the size of your palm so it was small enough not to terrify any of the kid. You and Tim both crouched down at the water table. "Alright Tim I want you to meet, Minato if that's to hard for you to say you can just call him taro."

"Taro?" "Yeah, Why don't you touch him with one finger, to start off." "But won't he bite me?" "Of course he won't let me show you." You took one of your fingers and began to gently rub it across the top of the octopus, causing Minato to rub his head into you finger.

"See now you try" Tim reluctantly pet the octopus, only to calm down after seeing that Minato didn't bite. "There you go, see he doesn't bite." Tim smiled "woah, you're right he feels so cool."

You but the final starfish back into the giant tank. It was closing time and today you were assigned with the task of bringing all the sea creatures from the petting zoo into the ocean tank.

The ocean tank is basically a part of the ocean near the zoo meant specifically for the sea creatures that you kept their. The last group of sea creatures you had to move for the night was the octopuses.

And there was only one of those in the petting zoo area. Gently you grabbed the small black octopus and put it lightly into the bucket that was half filled with water. You walked so carefully as if you were walking on glass.

Picking up the octopus you bent over and placed him into the ocean tank. Standing up you turned to walk away only to get pulled into the salty water. You gasped for air as you made your way back to surface, only to get pulled into someone's chest.

"Love <3!" You could practically hear the love in their voice, the fact that their was someone in the ocean pool wasn't what scared you. What scared you was whatever was gripping onto your waist and legs.

You hesitantly looked down only to see black tentacles. You felt a muffled cry escape your throat. "Love? Ways wrong, do you want to go back to the shore?"

The strange creature gently put you back onto the shore. You turned around now being able to fully see him.

He had short black hair with blue tips, on his neck was a black choker with gold spikes followed by a gold spikey necklace, his ears were accompanied by dangleing golden shell earrings. His arms had long fishnet like gloves on, along with a black bracelet on each wrist.

His nipples were covered by a gold swirl thing on each side, both side were attached at the front by two lose chains. Where his v line would have been their was a heart shaped tattoo. Instead if legs he had the bottom of an octopus. The color of his tentacles were black while the underside was blue with teal suction cups. His waist was adorned with gold swirls and shapes.

Your mouth was hung open in shock of what you were seeing. You finally got the courage to look at the male in the eyes only to meet with a pair of concerned bright green eyes.

"Oh my it seems your dehydrated here let me take you back to the water." Before you even have time to object you were grabbed and plunged into the depths of the ocean. You struggle in his arms you captor not noticing until you body went limp.

You were on the verge of passing out when you were suddenly brought back onto shore. You began to gasp trying to intake as much air as you possibly could. "Love I'm sorry I don't actually know much about humans!"

"Love I'm truly sorry! so, please... Please don't leave me."

you feel his hair tickling your face before you're even awake enough to open your eyes. the smell of his shampoo wraps around you like a blanket, and you hum with contentment as you snuggle further into the sheets. his heavy arm is draped across your middle, lithe fingers softly playing with the hem of your shirt, your head tucked into the crook of his neck to hide away from the sun shining through the blinds.

“baby? you awake yet?” a voice speaks just above a whisper, still coated with a layer of sleep, and you can already feel the hint of a smile creep onto your lips at the sound.

“no. ‘m still asleep,” you murmur back, wanting to savor this moment for as long as you possibly can. you feel shotaro’s chest vibrate with quiet laughter at your antics, his fingers splaying out against your back to hold you impossibly closer to him.

“okay. then i’m still asleep too,” he replies, nuzzling his cheek against the top of your head. you bite your lip to repress the giant smile that’s slithered onto your lips, shaking your head a bit in response.

“actually, i am awake. i haven’t given you your kiss yet.”

at the sound of your words, shotaro pulls back with an exaggerated humph. as you open your eyes to meet his, those sparkingly brown ones are already on you, watching as you move away from his chest to sit up. you rub your eyes with your fist, giggling when he wraps you up in his arms to pull you back on top of him, chest to chest now.

“was waiting for you to wake up. you know i can’t start my day without a kiss,” he speaks with a little smile; one that bunches up his eyes in the corners in that way that you love. you lean down to kiss his cheek a few times before cupping the side of his face.

“what time is it?” you ask, and a sheepish look falls onto shotaro’s face at the question, his nose scrunching up cutely.

“almost 11…” he admits quietly. 

you let out a tiny gasp, lightly swatting his chest. “taro! you have to go to work!” 

shotaro pouts at your response, shaking his head against the pillow as he gazes up at you.

“i need my kiss first.”

you can’t help but melt at the pleading eyes he sends you, and you reach up to brush some of his messy hair away from his face. his perfect, perfect face. every day, you wonder how you were so lucky to be loved by such an amazing person. 

“why didn’t you just wake me up? you big baby,” you mumble, pinching his cheek. he sticks his tongue out at you and you do the same to him. 

“didn’t want to,” shotaro speaks after a moment. “you looked too pretty.”

“am i still pretty now that i’m awake?” you exaggeratedly bat your eyelashes at him, effectively earning another laugh from his lips.

“you’re pretty no matter what. my pretty baby,” and his voice drips with such unexpected sincerity, your stomach swarms with butterflies. “c’mere.”

finally, he reaches up to trail his fingers against the sensitive skin of your neck before gently tugging you down to meet his lips. 

shotaro’s lips are warm and plush against yours, and you feel your heart clench in all the right ways as he kisses you. every kiss always feels like the first, your head beginning to grow foggy as you soak him in. his thumb faintly strokes the back of your neck and he tilts his head a bit to press closer to you—like your body being on top of his was simply not enough. 

your mind spins and twirls with adoration when his tongue swipes across your bottom lip, silently asking permission for your lips to part. he cradles you as if you are a piece of fine china, his hand leaving your neck to find your waist, holding you against him. you can feel his rapid heartbeat through his shirt and he sighs into your mouth, his limbs growing lax when you reach to rest your palm against his chest.

you knew that if you kept going at this rate, shotaro would never leave your side, so with a few tiny kisses to the corner of his mouth, you slowly pull away from him. 

“noooo!” shotaro whines dramatically, sprawling out on the sheets like a starfish. “this isn’t fair.”

“life isn’t fair, babe,” you giggle, leaning down to kiss him on the nose. “you have to go now.”

“don’t wanna…” shotaro huffs, trying to tug you back toward his lips. you smile as you give him another tiny kiss before rolling to the other side of the bed. shotaro is quick to follow you, but you stop him with a soft push to his chest.

“if you don’t go, then how are you gonna get your after-work kiss, hm?” you ask, cocking your head to the side. shotaro scrunches up his nose at you before deflating.

“you’re right,” he sighs. “one more kiss? for motivation?”

rolling your eyes fondly, you grab his chin and give him one long, sweet kiss. when you break away, there’s a goofy grin on his face that puts the sun to shame. 

shotaro reaches up to brush his thumb over your cheek fondly. “see you this evening, baby. i’ll call you during my break, okay?” 

“okay. i love you,” you yawn, snuggling into the sheets again.

“i love you,” he says back, but makes no move to leave once he sees you falling asleep again. “now i really don’t want to go.”

“taro, go!” you swat at him blindly through your laughter, trying to push him out of the bed.

“fine, fine! i love you! you’re so beautiful! i’ll miss you! and you better answer my call or i’m coming home early! i love yo-”

He was found when an elderly couple spotted a giant peach floating down the river by their home. When the couple split the peach open to eat it, the baby Momotarō was there in place of the pit, and explained that he had been bestowed by the gods to be their son. This applies him for the Unconventional Birth Clause and (somewhat arguably) Birth Parent Clause!

She has a turquoise afro which is pulled back neatly into a bun and decorated with fine gold chains as well as a round golden censer hanging from the back. In her left hand she holds a book bound in dark blue leather. Instead of wearing glasses, her brown eyes are magically treated, which causes a teal sheen to be visible over her pupils. She is smiling confidently.

As a child, she was about 120cm tall and her hair was still dark brown and not tied back. She has yellow asteria flowers in her hair as well as a pencil and a cool leaf, and wore huge round glasses. She wears a red button-up dress with pockets, stripey white tights, and smart indigo shoes. She clutches a brown canvas-bound book to her chest and looks wide-eyed.

Ame is an East Asian girl who stands at around 150cm as an adult. She has long, dark straight hair and dark brown eyes. She has her right hand on her hip while her left hand adjusts her giant red witch's hat. The hat has a white underside and there is a gold censer attached to the pointed tip. She is wearing a white wrap top patterned with pink petals, and the long flowy sleeves have been buttoned back. She has two bracelets around her left wrist, one is woven lilac and green, and the other is small pink flowers chained together. She has red skirt that resembles a toadstool, with white spots on the cap and pink ruffles under the rim. She also has a white half-apron with several pockets tied to her waist by dark pink cord, which also holds a light brown pouch. She has one skinned knee showing above her flowery pink-and-white socks, and red stompy boots. She is smiling out of the corner of her mouth. Wrapping around her legs is Cool Dog, her fox familiar, eyeing the viewer suspiciously.

As a child, she was extremely small at 100cm. She has a bowl cut and dimples. She wears an oversized yellow shirt with white stripes, the sleeves pushed up past her elbows, and orange dungarees. She has muddy red welly boots, and is wearing the lilac and green bracelet. She is grinning broadly with her eyes shut and holding her fists up near her chest.

Grandmother Wren is an old witch standing at about 155cm with light brown skin and frizzy grey-and-white-streaked hair and brown eyes. She is wearing a dark purple witch's hat with a golden buckle and a curling tip, a knitted lilac shawl around her shoulders, and a cable-knit yellow sweater. She is wearing a stripy half-apron over a floor-length patchwork skirt, and is leaning on a gnarled wooden cane with both hands. She is smiling ruefully. Taro, her rooster familiar, is standing on the brim of her hat.

2. A cropped version of the same drawing, this time including Eursulon's glamoured forms. His glamoured form is a Black human, resembling Suvi as if he were her brother, although his eyes remain hazel and his hair is ginger instead of dark brown. He has dark brown freckles on his face and a gap in his front teeth, although the gap can only be seen in his childhood glamour as he is smiling. As an adult, the glamour is dressed identically to the unglamoured form although he's shorter by about 25cm, and his hair is braided back neatly into a bun. He also has some facial hair on his sideburns. As a child, his hair is shorter and styled into mini locs, and he is wearing a white shirt and green shorts, though still barefoot. He is about 15cm shorter than his unglamoured form.

After playing through Sekiro a couple of times, I find myself wondering, would things have gone better for Genichiro if he'd just fucking left Kuro alone? I mean let's think about it. By pissing off this one shinobi, Genichiro manages to lose: - At least three generals - Three of the Seven Spears, including Gyobou - Two of Ashina's elite samurai - The giant fucking snake that guards Ashina's depths - Two red eyed giants - And, last but not least, the respect of his Grandfather And that's not even taking a second to ponder how many samurai, regular soldiers, nightjar, and taro troops that Wolf canonically killed. You have to wonder if Ashina barely lasting the day when the Ministry attacks is a product of the Ministry's superior technology and better fighters, or if Genichiro's decision to draw the ire of this one specific immortal wackjob might've just cost him the entire war.

"for you, im never busy. show me!" he says, his response makes you feel warm inside. your taro always finds a way to make you feel special, even with simple words.

shotaro follows you into your room. its decorated with a few toys here and there, but right now you have a small table and play kitchen set up. he spots a small sign, made from a piece of paper and colored in with crayons. the sign reads "welcome!" shotaro was able to decipher it despite your not-so-eligible handwriting.

"what's this?" he asks.

"my restaurant! you gotta order something, i have no customers!!!!" you say, expressing your dismay at the fact nobody has visited your restaurant. you worked so hard, and the food is delicious!

"well then, i'd like to order a giant stack of chocolate chip pancakes!" he jokes.

"we don't.. we don't serve that.." you say shyly. you do not have a toy stack of pancakes..

"okay.. then a slice of pizza and some coffee. please!" he tries again. you light up, you have a pretend slice of pizza! and a toy coffee cup!

"coming right up!!!" you exclaim, making your way to the toy kitchen. shotaro sits at the small table, not wanting to break one of the small chairs, he opts to sit on the floor. he watches you pretend to put the slice of pizza in the oven, and also the way you wait for the non-existent coffee to come out of the play coffee machine he bought for you a few months ago. the reason he buys you a bunch of toys, is because you always play with them in a way where he cant take his eyes off of you. something about it, you just look so content, playing out scenarios in your mind. sometimes he wonders whats going on up there.

he gets knocked back to reality,

"hello? mr. taro. your coffee is here!" you hold out the plastic mug in front of you.

"oh, thank you baby!" he takes a sip, and you go back to preparing the rest of his meal, "oh my goodness. this is the best coffee ive ever had.." he mumbles to himself, acting like he didn't say that just to get a reaction out of you. he peeks over at you, you're giggling to yourself, whispering a small "yes!" you're very much satisfied with his feedback. you walk back over to him, standing up straight with a formal tone, just like the workers at real restaurants.

"how's your coffee? i have your pizza ready!" you say, in a very polite manner.

he mimicks your tone, "oh my, it might just be the best coffee i've ever tasted." he uses dramatic hand gestures to convey his emotions.

you grin at him, handing him his pizza. he responds with a, "thank you" deciding he wants to joke around with you, he starts to cough.

"excuse me! im allergic to pepperoni!!" he alerts you. it works, because your rushing over to him, trying to figure out what to do.

"the only way to fix it is with a big hug and kisses from a cute baby!" he says, and you realize. you're the cute baby! you need to save your taro! you quickly wrap your arms around him, and plant a multitude of kisses around his face. wanting to assure he doesnt struggle anymore, you kiss him so much and end with a tight hug.

"i'm sorry taro! i'll get you a cheese pizza.. coming right up!" you quickly hurry. you don't want him to be hungry! after you finish preparing a new dish and turn to give it to shotaro, hes blankly staring at you. along with him, one of your stuffies has arrived and sat on the chair next to him. also, staring blankly at you. you give him his pizza, as well as an extra kiss. (a precaution just in case hes "allergic" to this pizza too.)

after he receives his pizza and takes a bite, you watch to make sure he doesn't have another "allergic reaction". once you confirm he enjoys it, he whispers to you,"i think you have a new customer."

he watches you turn to the stuffie, and take its order. you make conversation with it, still he is so fascinated with the way you act when playing with your toys.

you turn around to create whatever meal the stuffed animal ordered, and shotaro focuses in on watching you cook your play food. he admires it, again you just seem so content with your surroundings. shotaro is more than grateful that you feel comfortable around him to be in your most vulnerable state. he won't ever grow tired of times like this.

For the Braised Fried Fish Maw Seafood Treasure Soup, the staff portioned it into ten smaller bowls before serving it to us. Not sure if it is because I am holding a camera, but my bowl came with more chunks of crab meat and fish maw. Basically, a seafood soup thickened with starch so the ingredients seem to be suspended/frozen in the soup. Black vinegar and white pepper accompanied this soup so feel free to add some to it.

Well, the Roasted Crispy Chicken with Prawn Crackers was warm and tender to eat, it however wasn’t crispy at it. And just like everywhere else in Singapore, they referred to this deep-fried chicken as a roasted chicken. Sprinkle a bit of the salt & pepper before putting it into the mouth. A lacklustre dish but thank goodness, the prawn crackers were crispy though.

This Steamed Hybrid Garoupa in Hong Kong Style was cut into sections just before they served it to us. This hybrid grouper is probably a cross between the giant grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus) and brown-marbled grouper or tiger grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) and given the Dragon Tiger Grouper (龙虎斑) name. The fish got to be very fresh to be steamed and cooked with just a simple condiment of soya sauce, julienned spring onions and cilantro leaves for garnish. The end result, sweet springy flesh with collagen like skin that is so good to eat.

The Braised Whole 10-Head Abalone with Sea Cucumber and Spinach was up next but the process of waiting for the next dish to be served was a long one as in-between the hosts are showing us video stories of the newly married couple and plus the live singing by the friends and band. Ten pieces each of the abalone and sea cucumber sitting atop a bed of blanched Popeye’s favourite green vegetable. Why 10 you may ask? Because a table usually seat ten people so the food portions are divided equally so each get a piece of everything (for the expensive ingredients that is). The only complaint for this dish is that the spinach is on the bitter side.

Like an overturned basket or nest, spilling out Deep-Fried Prawns with Black Truffle Mayonnaise Sauce. If there is anything to change for the presentation, I would move the red and green coral lettuces from under the eatable nest and placed it in the nest for a more dramatic effect. Anyway, these truffle gratings lend an aromatic and earthy fragrances to the classic mayo prawns topped with orange flying fish roe. My colleague and I detected a mild spicy hint of wasabi in it but another colleague said it is from the truffle and mayo combo. Differences aside, this is one dish I won’t mind having again.

I always love this noodle served at the end of the dinner courses just before dessert. The Braised Ee-Fu Noodles with Yellow Chives and Straw Mushrooms is a usual staple at wedding due to the fact it is also known as longevity noodles (寿面). Normally, I would consume more than a bowl of the yi mein (伊面) but that night I was already quite stuffed from the dishes served and I was leaving room for dessert. :D

By the time the last dish was up and the clock was ticking closer to 11pm. The warm Teochew Yam Paste with Gingko Nut and Coconut Milk with its gooey and smooth yam (taro) paste and whole gingko nuts smothered in thickened coconut milk is bursting with sweetness and a great comfort to many of us Singaporeans. I liked the fact that the chef tuned the sugar level to just sweet enough as I preferred mine not too saccharine. Anyway, I just had to ask for another bowl as it was just too good to pass up.

Dinner is now over and after shaking hands with the groom, bride and their respective parents, it is time to head to the train station to catch the train home.
