Hello! my name is Charlie, and I'm the folk behind Long Lane Creatives! I'm making hand-made water colors, mostly shimmers and glittery blends! I want to create colors that are new and interesting, layered so that using them is a surprise each time.
But! We're just starting out! So if you see this, please click the link and take a look, or send it to a friend who likes playing with paint! More colorways are in the works, so check back often! any questions? please DM me!
once again, thank you for supporting a small, queer-owned business!
Heads up! Now Bookface has finished, new handmade earth pigments paints and sets are up in my store! I'm super proud of them, especially the green earths set 💚🪨🖌️
A gift for @louciferish and her Our Flag Means Death Appalachian Trail AU because we both love hobby drama. Make sure to check out “Restless Souls Gone Wanderin’”.
Done with watercolor made from eyeshadow and lino block stamps.
These CSY watercolors are legitimately some of the WORST watercolors I've reviewed- but in a unique and surprising way! I'm sure you've seen them around on Amazon, Etsy, and even AliExpress- now find out if they're worth the money, and if they're REALLY handmade!
So, I am back to making lake pigments again after my fairly disastrous last attempt I finally figured out how to get things to work. I really like using things most people are not using (like I haven’t worked any with indigo, madder, cochineal, etc) and my most recent favorite is this incredible teal I got from black goji berries that looks like it could be a Phthalo pigment.
Let me know if people want to see my fun experiments, I am more than happy to talk about my paint making passions, but also don’t want to fill up people’s feeds if it is unwanted.
Happy Friendaversary, @/chiryx_creates! I’m so lucky to have you in my life and be able to call you friend and cousin! Thank you for being one of the greatest friends I could ever ask for, for being you, and lighting up my life! Here’s to 2023 and many more years!
(Paint I used created by @/thoughtsupnorth on Instagram! Their paint and work is amazing, please check them out!)

This deep pink colour is from an old jar of Otto Ebeling dark madder (krapplack-dunkel) I inherited. I'm pretty sure it's alizarin PR83. I've got a sample of Kremer's alizarine crimson PR83 pigment, so I'm making up a little of each to compare them. Then we'll see how they both look side by side!
Alizarin has been used for hundreds of years as a pigment, and used to be extracted from madder plant roots. In the 19th century it became the first natural dye to be reproduced synthetically. Today you can buy both synthetic and plant-derived madder pigments. Some people prefer quinacridone pigments that are more light-fast - and I do use those for commission work. But I also have a soft spot for madder & have paints with both plant-derived and synthetic alizarin in. So it's pretty cool to be making my own now 😊
Trying the same scene with oil pastels and again in watercolor. I don't have much experience with oil pastels, other than using them as a mark-making tool in my abstract cold wax paintings.
Day 10: skeleton. I did this word last year so I referenced the same style to see what I could do with it this time. Holo makes everything better don't you think?!
