i've been rereading tonari no kaibutsu-kun for the past few months and had this sort of epiphany that the storyline makes SO much more sense if you read it assuming shizuku, haru and natsume are all neurodivergent teens that had to parkour their way into societal norms like! it makes so much sense! and this is why so many people dislike it so much - they don't understand that the three of them struggle with the same things in (very) different ways, hence why they grow so beautifully together!! they are platonic soulmates do not separate them

19 days reminds me so much of tonari no kaibutsukun (eng title: my little monster)

-Like the one that comes from a low income/average household and has set ambitions so that they can get out of that situation, and even through all that hard work feel like they aren't enough, and because of trying so hard and not meeting their expectations they put on a mean/cold front? Mo guanshan and Shizuku.

- The annoying naturally smart and handsome guy who gets on the hard working one's nerves because he's everything their not and gets pushed away even though all he wants is to love them, but conveys the feelings poorly by being severely over-protective (and also has a bad relationship with his high class-family)? He tian and Haru.

-The stupid pretty popular one that has abandonment issues because of their father and just wants someone to love them for them (and also deals with unrequited feelings of love)? Jian Yi and Natsume.

-Levelheaded caring guy who gets on with everybody, is the voice of reason for the stupid one and is the most emotionally intelligent from the group? Sasayan and Zhan Zheng xi.

Obviously the characters aren't exactly like each other, but I think if you like 19 days you'll also like Tonari no Kaibutsukun, and vice versa

Day 22: Shizuku x Haru

This pairing is a bit trippy considering that Haru is too clingy to Shizuku yet he's not even sure if he really is in love with her. But later on in the show, they both mature and finally recognize each other's feelings.

When the anime pushes the jealousy trope a little too far into the yandere zone and you get a massive ick

This bitch was about to push Yamaken off the second floor of a building for a hypothetical question like???

I understand he has poor social skills and stuff cause of his childhood and Yamaken picked on (?) him when they were little for being really smart but seriously?? Like objectively it's pretty easy to get where Haru is coming from and it's easy to like him and understand why he's not a fan of Yamaken having a crush on Shizuku but this whole thing just made me like Haru wayyy less

It also feeds into the incredibly annoying trope I find all the time where there's two male leads the first being mister tall dark and handsome who kinds borders on controlling or abusive depending on the situation and the second being blonde relatable guy with an unrequited crush and no chance from the start

Ik Haru and Yamaken don't exactly fit the trope to a tee but still it's still very similar.

Plus I kinda do like Yamaken's relationship with Shizuku a little more. Their vibe is more fun to me, the way it always seems to be with the blond ML and FL
