Sure thing. Sorry for the long wait. I wrote Raihan where the reader uses a Pokémon type that’s weak against his teams types. For Piers I wrote where the reader uses a Pokémon type that’s strong against his teams types.

Enemies to Lovers

Raihan

People could see that you and Raihan were enemies because he would constantly beat your team in every fight

Your friends and family suggested switching the type of Pokémon you use, but you wanted to prove that Fire Pokémon were better than Dragon Pokémon

Your partner Pokémon is Cinderace. Your team includes Scovillain, Blaziken, Pyroar, Arcanine, and Ninetales

You love your team and you don’t want to give up on them and you know that they are strong

You interned for Kabu to learn more from the best of the best and you ended up working for him after your internship ended

Kabu said that you had a lot of potential

Kabu and Raihan were talking in the Motostoke gym and you tried to not be seen by either of them

Kabu saw you and called you over and you obliged because he is your boss

He said that he was telling Raihan that he planned on passing the Fire gym to you when he officially retires

Raihan said that he is shocked with Kabu’s decision because your team can be easily defeated

Kabu quickly reminded Raihan that this gym is one of the first three gyms that challengers face and that the gyms were supposed easier compared to his gym

Before Kabu left you and Raihan he said that you were the best Fire Pokémon trainer he has ever interned and worked with and that Raihan should at least show you some respect

It was three years after that conversation that Kabu retired and you took over the gym

Everyone else was welcoming and excited that you were finally the Motostoke gym leader and they had two cakes for you and Kabu since you both combined the two parties together

One cake said “Welcome to Gym Leader Family, Y/N” the other said “Have a Fantastic Retirement, Kabu”

Raihan gave Kabu his retirement gift and everyone held their breath when he approached you

He said “Congratulations on finally achieving your dream. I hope that you can finally prove that Fire Pokémon are stronger and better than Dragon Pokémon.” and he gave you his gift

Raihans gift was a plushie of Reshiram the legendary Pokémon that has the typing of Dragon and Fire

But there was a second plushie in the bag and it was a plushie of Turtonator which has the typing of Fire and Dragon

Before the party ended Raihan said “I gave you those two plushies because they prove that a Pokémon can be a stronger Fire type with a Dragon sub type or a stronger Dragon type with a Fire sub type.”

After he said that he kissed your cheek and left

Kabu and Melony saw kiss and they will not let you live that down

You knew you and Piers were destined to be enemies ever since you two were kids

You loved Flying Pokémon and your team just happened to have typings that are strong against his team

You hated it because you wanted to be friends with Piers, but he has made it clear that he hates you

Your partner Pokémon is Butterfree. The rest of your team includes Togekiss, Gliscor, Hawlucha, Flamigo, and Beautifly.

Your gym ended up replacing Opals gym, but you kept the same concept of how challengers battle at your gym as Opals gym. You wanted to keep it the same so that Opal can still have her legacy. So the gym now has pink and pastel blue to incorporate Flying and Fairy Pokémon.

Piers refused to visit your gym because he says the colors give him migraines

When Victor, Gloria, Bede, and Marnie were doing their gym challenges and Marnie happened to beat your gym in one go by luck. Victor, Gloria, and Bede completed your gym in two tries.

When word of Marnie completing your gym in one try got back to Piers he stormed into your office asking if you went easy on her

You told him that you didn’t go easy on Marnie and that she was a strong opponent and that he should believe in her more

After you said that he smashed his lips against yours and after he pulls away he tells you that you shouldn’t tell him how to feel

Let’s just say that after that interaction you and Piers relationship started to become more lovely

Leon isn't sure why he agreed to this. He sinks into his seat some as the patrons of this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant gaze at him, whispering to one another. He's lucky it's more of an adult establishment, with folks kind enough not to walk up to him and ask for an autograph.

A blind date, Raihan called it. He had sworn up and down that the woman he knew would be a perfect match for Leon. But Leon doesn't know if he believes it, no entirely. He trusts Raihan's judgement, but he knows the tendency for people to only see Champion Leon. They sometimes didn't care for the man beneath the title and the crowned snapback.

But, Leon has to admit he does feel a little lonely, and he does want a relationship. He wants the domesticity and the butterfrees and the flowers that come with it. He hopes whoever this woman is, she wants something similar with him and not just the Champion.

When you walk into the restaurant, dressed how Raihan told him you would be, Leon feels his heart stutter and trip over itself. The outfit you chose suits you well, better than anything he could've imagined, hugging the curves of your body and accenting the way your hips gently sway when you walk.

You spot him, and stop in your tracks, your eyes wide with shock. But then you split into a warm, albeit shy smile. You make your way over to his table, and you settle into your seat.

"Hello." You greet, chuckling to yourself. "Doesn't Raihan have a way with words? You're the last person I expected to find in that chair."

Leon laughs too, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, but he said it'd be worth it." He glances up at you, grin boyish and lopsided. "And I'm starting to think he's right."

A blush blooms across your face, and Leon chuffs up, pleased.

You spend the dinner together, and Leon finds himself growing more entranced. You talk about life, friends and family, hobbies and Pokémon. Leon waits for your questions about his job, the money and celebrities he knows, but you don't press him on any of it. You leave your questions casual and open ended, letting him decide what he wants to talk about. And Leon likes it, a lot.

He likes how interested you seem in his family, how you laugh at his silly stories and coo at the baby pictures of Hop he shows you. In return, you talk about Raihan, how the two of you met and how annoying the man has been, bugging you about going out with a friend of his.

"He said you and I would get along," you tell Leon, sipping your wine with a soft huff of amusement, "because we're both sad sacks moping about wanting relationships."

Leon snorts. "Rich, coming from him!"

"Right? He's got a lot of advice for someone chronically single."

Leon grins, eyeing the hand you lay on the table as you set your glass down. He taps his fingers on the tablecloth, now somewhat strained by the meals you had, and inches his hand closer to yours.

As you continue to talk, some playful teasing towards Raihan, Leon slides his finger tips over your own fingers, tracing the valleys between your knuckles, before settling his palm over your hand. His had engulfs yours, but its warm, calloused. It feels safe.

You smile at him, twisting your hand so your palms align, tracing along the veins of his wrist.

Leon blushes, but he's too giddy to care. He doesn't want this date to end, even though the waiter has dropped off the check.

"Hey!" He says, a bit to loud. It earns a few glances from the nosier of the other patrons, but you just cock your head, nodding for him to continue. "Um, let's go hit one of the parks. I wanna meet your Pokémon."

Your eyes twinkle in the low lights of the evening sun. "Here, I'll do you one better." The squeeze of your hand in his makes his heart flip-flop again. "Why don't you come over? You can meet my Pokémon, and I'll meet yours too, yeah?"

Leon is nodding before you even finish your offer.

And if people see you both walking out of the restaurant, Champion Leon's hand following the curve of your hip? If the press posts pictures tomorrow of the mysterious woman seen taking the Champion Leon home with her? He doesn't care. Not if it means getting to spend more time being just Leon with you.

Hello! Had a worldbuilding question for you, does your universe have any non-Pokémon creatures in it? Like animals, insects, the like? And if so, how do you balance them with the Pokémon?

Also want to say I adore this blog, and the fruit salad. It’s one of my favorite in terms of in depth Pokémon headcanons, and I’m so excited for the Hisui comic! Which is gorgeous btw 🌸

Actually no, there are no real world critters or creatures in this build. my balance for the issue is that pokemon come in a wide range of sizes.

For example bugs in pokemon are only regstered as appropriate battle partners down to a certain height and weight. Fighting with anything smaller is classified as endangerment and is not legal. Some places have miniature battles like how real world folks race slugs or fight their stag beetles, but its not official in many places as a gym battle would be. There are however many clubs who enjoy the act, and encourage this kind of enrichment.

This also fixes the issue of pollination somewhat. The show, games and books all depict normal flora, but the fauna is all pokemon sized, too large to often sucessfully polinate crops or plants. So having actual bee sized combee or butterfree to mix into the world buidling adds to the flavor of it, without breaking the rules too much, or adding in real world animals. I do however see theres issues with a lack of certain species, specifically some bugs, leaving big gaps in logical food chains, this is where speculation and a bind eye come into play. I can only do so much about the lore theyve provided, but its a good fix for some issues. Eggs come from torchic, leather and meats from various farmed mons, medicine and fruit too in some cases. It can work, just takes a little shoehorning. Im glad to hear youre enjoying the content, here and on the Side Salad blog, and of course the comic, I have many pages to come! Just been super busy but will post more soon.

His face felt hot, and Cody didn’t even know why, he suddenly left like he needed to hide his face in his sweater and disappear, but also, he couldn’t bring himself to want to look away from the boy. It was like his brain had stopped working. He wanted to go up and introduce himself. He wanted to throw a Pokemon ball at him and run away. The other boy was just… Really… Cute. His stomach turned over itself. Tyrouge tugged on his arm, hard, but Cody couldn’t move. Was this love at first sight? No, no, what?! Cody was only eleven! He couldn’t be in love! Love was for those people in Fordo’s movies, the ones who-- who-- kissed each other in the ocean with all of the Luvdisc around them. Cody didn’t like those movies. He didn’t secretly pretend to read his books and watch them from behind the covers. He didn’t! (He did, but if Rex ever found out he’d never hear the last of it!) The boy turned, and Cody felt like he was going to throw up when the boy’s eyes met his own. What color were they? They looked like a dragon scale, and oh, Arceus, why was he walking over to Cody? Was he staring? Did he look stupid?! Cody tore his eyes away and looked down at the ground, and startled suddenly, seeing the little Ralts waddle over to him. “Hello there!” The boy greeted him, kneeling down again and scooping the Ralts delicately into his arms. The Ralts cooed a little and held their arms out to Cody. The boy laughed, and Cody had the (embarrassing!) thought that it sounded like a Chimecho. “You must be thinking about something quite nice.” “W-what makes you say that?” He asked, suddenly petrified that the other boy was some kind of… human psychic type. The other boy grinned, Cody never knew that a smile could make him feel so stupid, and lifted up the Ralts. “Crystal can sense your emotions. She was so eager to walk over here, you must have been feeling happy.” “I-I, well, that is, Tyrouge and I were going to train, so she could probably sense how excited we were,” he stuttered out, so utterly embarrassed and thrown off-kilter. He looked at Tyrogue, who, until just a moment ago, was tugging at him insistently. Tyroge was now looking at the boy and Crystal the Ralts, hopping on his feet. “Oh, no, not them, Tyrouge.” The boy laughed again and shifted the Ralts in his arm. He held out his hand to him. “I’m Obi-Wan Kenobi. I’m visiting from Coruscant City."

Anyway, hello people of Galar and beyond! I'm Dr Rhea Shrub, and I'm the (unfortunately minor league) ground type gym leader for Galar! You'll find our gym is small, just a shed, three classrooms and the sports oval of Hammerlocke University, but we can really get big once the dragon's dethroned for a change!

When not battling, I put my years of experience in archaeology and anthropology to teach various history lessons at the university. I may also dabble a bit in cars and related hobbies with the university motorists club, hence the sponsorship with Mach Motors.

I have many ground types I work with, but the mainstay of my team, regardless of the battle, is Medusa, my gigantamax sandaconda.

Now, I would also like to promote that me and my gym trainers do also help with new trainers looking for ground types. It requires a fee of 200 PokÉ to adopt a starter, but it all goes to maintenance and further improving the gym and pokemon care.

It's morning. Gardevoir doesn't really enjoy mornings. Gardevoir doesn't seem to enjoy a lot, really.

Gardevoir decides to go out for a walk. She doesn't even really 'enjoy' walks, she just needed the alone time. As she paces through the nearby forest Gardevoir finds herself starting to wake up more, in a rather decent mood too. Around then, a rather distracting rustling noise comes in. It's fairly loud, it's very annoying. It's TOO annoying.

Gardevoir just nonchalantly throws a Shadow Ball at the rustling, whatever was making the rustling was directly hit, "Shut the fuck UP." Gardevoir begins, before the creature causing the disturbance loudly exclaims "OWWAAH!" Gardevoir hadn't fully waken up so the pained cry startled her a bit. Whatever empath was left over in the scraggly Gardevoir took over for a second as she went to check up on whatever she just nailed. Gardevoir pushes the bush leaves back to reveal a Butterfree writhing in pain on the ground nex to a half-eaten Oran berry. "Oh. Hello." Gardevoir awkwardly stares at the poor thing, knowing that she was absolutely to blame. The Butterfree was just eating and she knocked it's lights out cuz it disturbed her 'Brooding Wake Up' walk.

Gardevoir rather hesitantly starts to inch away from the Butterfree before bolting it back to the house. So far her day hasn't gone that well. Gardevoir, oddly politely, knocks on her trainer Sandra's door. It's barely bright out as morning has only barely arrived, so there was no guarantee there would be an answer, but lo and behold Sandra comes out, messy hair, drooped face, wearing her all-black pajamas. "What. On Earth. Could've POSSIBLY made you come wake me up?" Sandra moodily asks, Gardevoir rather embarrassingly replies "uh.. s-So I was doing my morning walk, right? And the strangest thing happens, this Butterfree comes up on me out of NOWHERE," She's clearly bullshitting, and Sandra sees right through her like glass, "s-so uh.. I kinda tossed a Shadow Ball at it, and now it's just kinda… suffering in the forest over there." Sandra gives her the most obvious disappointed face she possibly could. "Okay, whatever, I'm sure the VISCOUS and BLOODTHIRSTY Butterfree got what was coming to it…" Sandra starts to close the door about to attempt to go back to sleep, before her senses finally also wake up, "Wait, wait, you just left it there?" "uh" "… okay. Go wake Shroud up, let's go see."

Sandra and her little team of two make their way out to the forest to where Gardevoir ruined the Butterfree's morning, to find it STILL wincing and writhing in pain. "Damn, I thought I was getting rusty." Gardevoir remarks. Shroud goes up to the Butterfree and gives it a Sitrus to gnaw on while Sandra goes to comfort it. "Did the Jolly Green Giant getcha?" It nods as it takes a comically large bite off the berry "Yeah, well.. Let's go get you all fixed up." Sandra gently lifts the Butterfree off the ground and starts to bring her back to the house.

Indigo League Episode 21

Ah, Bye Bye Butterfree, lots of kids first heartbreak. I never cried over it but I know a lot of people have. Interestingly enough excluding Meowth all the Pokemon seen in this episode have the same name between Japanese and English.

The amount of curve on the ground where they’re walking is amusing to me for some reason.

They’re so silly. Their reaction to seeing a high cliff is to look straight down and comment that they'd die if they fell off it.

Look at them copying Team Rocket, using a hot air balloon and all.

I like Brock showing his age and experience here, he’s usually just being the comedic relief.

And then he goes right back to his annoying romantic bit after seeing a girl in another balloon who is also releasing a Butterfree for mating season. And I’m pretty sure there’s an animation error on Brock’s face, that red glow seems like it was supposed to stay on his face but it’s spilling out on the right there.

Misty teasing Brock is everything to me. And she said exactly that I was thinking too.

What a stylish little man!

Aww, Ash wants the other Butterfree to like his darling boy. <3

Of course Team Rocket has a helicopter the one time the gang is in a balloon. And poor Butterfree, his little bug body slamming into the metal must hurt a lot. He does later switch to the window but that doesn't work either.

Hello Jigglypuff balloon. That's an omen of the future.

Look they're stealing Team Rocket's theme song! This is the first time they've done it. (I think.)

Jesse is cutting out the pokemon middle man and fighting the pokemon herself, she's such a girlboss.

Everyone gets to do something for this rescue!

It's fairly normal but for some reason the way Ash ran up and checked on butterfree was really sweet to me.

Butterfree's fighting ability won over the pretty girl he liked! So in a way, Team Rocket was really helpful today.

I love his little smirk. He's going to destroy them and they know it.

This was so cute! Ash loves his little explosion machine. <3

Not Pikachu crying with the sad music over it!!!!

Ash too! (Random fact, this is the third time he's cried in the show so far and the first time it wasn't over Pikachu.)

And that's the episode! It's cute, kinda sad, but has a great vibe overall. One final thing to point out is that they have a memory flashback compilation for Butterfree, which I was amused to see considering they only use clips from like five episodes, but I guess that is about 25% of the number of episodes we've watched so far.

I pretty much have gone my whole life being against romance. That shit is for PUSSIES, I thought. And I was NO PUSSY. No, I would NEVER EVER EVER I MEAN EVER fall in love.

Well... Until I met him...

I was walking on up the mountain, trying to find a Snom when suddenly, the snow below me caved in.

"Help! " I yelled, desperately clawing at the snow around me, trying to get out of the icy pit.

I tried reaching for my pokeballs, but they were out of my reach, so I just tried yelling some more.

"Help! Please! Somebody, help! " I screamed, hoping for a miracle.

"Hello? Don't worry! Where are you?! " I heard a voice faintly.

"I'm down here! Please help me! "

After a few more screams, they finally reached me and started digging.

Whenever the snow cleared from my face, I saw... Him...

The gym leader.

"Don't worry, I've got you. " he said as he pulled me out of the snow with the help of his pokemon.

He brought me to the pokemon center to get a quick check up. I was very lucky he happened to be snowboarding by when he was.

"My name is Grusha, what's yours? " He asked me.

"I'm Y/N. I'm an ice type trainer. I was looking for a Snom when the snow had caved in... Thank you so much for helping me... "

Grusha stared at me for a second.

"Snom is a pretty cool pokemon. I can help you find one if you'd like. They can be pretty hard to find if you don't know where to look. " he replied, adjusting his scarf.

Something about this boy made my stomach do flips... I don't know. But then again, who better to help an ice type trainer than an ice type gym leader.

"I... I guess. Sure. " I mumbled.

"Well, don't thank me or anything. Come on, let's go. "

After that, and against my best wishes, he decided to help me and my pokemon train.

"So you see this rock here? I heard if you level up an Eevee next to it, you can evolve it into a Glaceon. " He said, sliding his hand down the icy rock.

"No way, I didn't know there was one in Paldea! I knew they were in other regions, but I had no idea they were here! " I yelled excitedly.

I looked over to Grusha, my belly feeling like it was full of Vivion and Butterfree and my face heating up.

He smiled, it was hard to tell with his scarf covering his face like that, but it had become easier to tell since hanging out with him more like I have.

"Yeah, I think you would do well with a Glaceon. Considering how good you do with just five pokemon, you would do exceptionally well with a full party. "

"You think? Well, I guess I am getting pretty good. Thanks to you, Grusha. "

Grusha pulled his scarf further up his face and looked away. It was adorable- Wait, what am I thinking?

It's not adorable! He's not adorable! I... No...

I felt my heart drop into my stomach at the realization that THAT thought just appeared in my brain.

I'm not falling in love! I can't be!

I swallowed the lump in my throat and looked away from Grusha.

"Hey, I need to get back home... Uh... I'll... Catch you later. " and I ran off without sticking around to hear what Grusha had to say.

"No, no, no, no, no, no, NO! I'm NOT falling for Grusha! I'm not! I.. I can't be! I told myself. NO falling in love." I paced around my room, trying to convince myself that it was all just in my head and not my heart.

And then I started thinking. The Butterfree in my stomach when I look at him, the warmth in my face when he does something nice to me, the fact that I think he looks adorable of all things... Oh Arceus.

I AM falling for him...

Whenever I saw Grusha next, I was incredibly awkward. I just kinda said hi and bye to him. Not really talking much.

I'm trying to push my feelings down for him. Maybe if I deny them long enough, they'll just go away.

And so I did just that, I pushed and I pushed and I pushed until...

"Hey, Y/N. I need to talk to you. " Grusha pulled me aside one night. It was an amazing night with all of the glittering stars out and tons of fresh powder snow all over the mountain.

"Yeah, of course. What is it? " I asked, curiously.

"Well, we can't speak here. Follow me. " Grusha pulled me outside, a freezing cold breeze hitting my face as we walked out of the gym.

After a bit of walking, we got to a certain hill that we use to practice. Were we going to battle?

"What is it, Grusha? " I asked again, hoping it wasn't anything too important.

"I... I need to tell you something. Y/N. This is going to sound very cringe and totally uncool of me, but... " Grusha started.

My heart stopped beating for a second, feelings started rising again. What if he tells me he wants to stop training me?! What if he wants to stop seeing me altogether?

Well, we were never "seeing" each other but... You know what I mean.

"Y/N, I think I've fallen in love with you. "

"Grusha... I... Oh, damn it all to Giratina. I love you too. " I grabbed him by the scarf and pulled him into a kiss.

We both pulled away from each other, panting.

Damn it, I went and fell in love. Shit.

ok quick team tour before the E4 because i'm way more attached to these guys than i thought i'd be. and by quick i mean this might be a long post sorry. i will go in order of acquisition of various team members :]

first up lovebug! named by my friend venty and also who i'd consider my starter :] butterfree's movepool isn't super wide and getting the twisted spoon or silver powder would be more trouble than it's worth at the moment, so aside from teaching Psychic with a TM, i left him with his level up moves and a quick claw for some speedy sleep powders. he has compoundeyes which makes sleep powder nearly 100% accurate and has been incredibly useful this entire run, especially with catching pokemon since sleep is so effective. i love him

next up QUIVER MY BELOVED... i saved her evolution for level 53 literally in the middle of victory road, was super satisfying. nidoqueen can only learn crunch as a nidorina, once she evolves she can't learn it anymore, and nidorina learns it at level 53 so i played the long game to get that one cool move. she has blackglasses to boost the power of it. earthquake is from a TM and i used her as my strength user during my playthrough, but it's a pretty useful move so i just kept it instead of going out of my way to remove it. and then after evolving her i used the move reminder after farming some tinymushrooms to get superpower to top off her moveset. very proud of her she's come so far from being a level 6 nidoran lol

say hello to TACO (BELL)... thanks for the shitpost name @ my qpp SDJFKDFS the miracle seed is from the celadon game corner! did you know weepinbell learns razor leaf at mfing level 42? and before that it only has vine whip for grass stab? it's awful. i waited that long to evolve him. i wanted to save some of my tms for the postgame so i decided to hold onto giga drain and solar beam and the like, decided to just keep razor leaf. i didn't wanna repeat niches by giving him sleep powder or something so i grinded even more tinymushrooms and taught him spit up and stockpile from the move reminder for the meme LOL who knows if i'll actually get use out of it. but i love taco he has been fun to use since i almost always have bulbasaur as my grass type

EGG!!!! he's named after my real life jolteon plushie with the same name. bite is exclusive to eevee at level 30 and since all dark moves are special in this game, it is actually useful on jolteon! i went pretty overboard on this guy because i love him. thunderbolt was a tm from the game corner, and uh... well... i found out he has hidden power water, with 70 base power, which while not the literal Best means he can hit ground types for super effective special damage at the maximum power possible for hidden power which is Based. UNFORTUNATELY hidden power can only be obtained through a 5% pickup drop in FRLG, so i caught a team of 6 meowths and spammed pickup until i got one lol. as for his held magnet item, that's exclusively obtained in FRLG by stealing off of wild magneton... a 5% chance. so i caught a level 31 meowth by bond bridge on two island, taught it thief, and used a repel trick with it to get all encounters to be magneton at the power plant... and just kept encountering until finally got the magnet 18 encounters in. pretty epic. nothing on his moveset is jolteon's natural moveset except thunder wave LOL and he has a pretty rare item for before the postgame

next up is creamsicle who is surprisingly one of my favorites despite being a pretty straightforward pokemon with a limited movepool. icy wind, ice beam, and rest, are all levelup moves, while surf is obviously an HM. mystic water is from the celadon game corner. all of the pokemon on my team are pokemon i've never brought to the endgame before, but dewgong is among the pokemon i've never used before in like... any capacity. so it's been really fun to use her! dewgong is underrated and very cute. but i understand why no one uses it, pretty out of the way in lategame seafoam islands

and last but not least here's torch! a pokemon i've DEFINITELY never used before as mt ember is optional before the postgame and i sometimes don't even take up bill's offer to go, much less linger on mt ember running around for a 5% encounter that late in the game post-blaine. BUT i wanted variety and this is certainly a fun choice after using ninetales a million times in my life. moveset is just levelup moveset except brick break which i taught by (thankfully renewable) TM, and the charcoal is from the game corner. he's the only mon caught in an ultra ball bc i could not be bothered oops... but the yellow matches! (btw he has a special attack IV of 0. LOOOL i still love him though)

and that's my weird ass leafgreen team where i boxed my starter and went out of my way to get pokemon i've not used before. i am at around 30 hours of gameplay and i'm going to fight the E4 shortlySDFKFSD

If you couldn't reboot og OBT, how would you have changed the original story?

// Alright buckle up, because this is gonna be a long answer. This whole ask will be ooc, but I’ll be switching to non-italic formatting since Tumblr’s post editor can be finicky.

For this hypothetical I’ll assume…

I can’t re-do individual pages, either

I somehow kept the motivation to see it through, and keep along with the original tone of the story

I’ll also avoid talking about things that were repurposed for use in the current iteration of OBT!

For starters, the comic would certainly be much farther- chapters were generally shorter, not to mention the whole not-starting-over aspect- and we’d probably be somewhere around Chapter 13-15.

I’ll be paraphrasing a lot of the plot beats here since I don’t wanna reiterate the entire story of PMD: EOS.

In Chapter 6 we would be reintroduced to Team Skull, who were a friend of the Guildmaster’s instead of a friend of Keaton’s. Rather than Keaton and the Guildmaster’s tenuous relationship being based around the Guildmaster’s obsession with humans, it was much more based in Keaton recognizing Team Skull as dangerous. The dungeon itself yielded Shiida the Paras as a recruit, who would be joining the main team. She never really got much of a personality in my notes, though I think she was intended to be a researcher of sorts. As far as the dungeon itself went, I think it was mostly uneventful… until the team reached the Perfect Apple Tree. There the Team Skull showdown is about the same, but during the Noxious Gas Combo, Fienne evolves, shields Rune, and takes the brunt of the attack, and dies. In-game the team got bottlenecked in a corridor, and Rune ended up getting put to sleep by a Butterfree’s sleep powder, which then started attacking Fienne and whittling down her health until she fainted.

Fienne’s death shakes the team, but they also don’t know how she evolved- pokemon haven’t been able to evolve by themselves for years, and the evolution stones are currently out of commission. (In-universe the explanation was that pokemon needed the presence of humans to evolve, and evolution springs I think were similar to the stones of Geosenge in X and Y, where they were made from the petrified remains of humans. This isn’t the case with current OBT, and the evolution stones are still working fine!) This part of what I had planned would largely stay the same, it was always something I enjoyed planning the plot out on, and I was really looking forward to it. Following the attack, the Guildmaster gets confirmation that Rune was a human due to Fienne’s evolution. He admits his humanity to Rune, and she was planned to take it well (“hello fellow human” energy, vs. the reboot where she isn’t even sure she’s a human). Keaton tries to ban them from the expedition because he doesn't want them getting killed, and Yokaro vetoes the idea.

Following that we have the expedition arc, in which I had planned to follow the in-game restriction of having only the hero and partner attend. In retrospect I think it’s more fun to include other teammates whenever possible, so perhaps I would have changed that! But something very exciting happened here- Bidoof, the mandatory escort, died. Which wouldn’t seem like a surprise- but he actually died by Rune’s hand.

OKAY FIRST LET ME EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED IN-GAME! Bidoof had just been frozen by a Dewgong in Craggy Coast (I think), and I was freaking out because more enemies were fast approaching. I didn’t realize attacks wouldn’t land on a frozen pokemon, and I decided to thaw him out the only way I knew how… with a flamethrower. No, I wasn’t thinking about the fact I was like, 10 levels higher than him. Rune killing Bidoof, even by accident, was going to cause a huge rift between her and Kodali as his trust in her further dwindled. But for some reason, this did not stop Kodali from trying to kiss Rune during the fountain scene- and she rejects him hard. From there, the expedition arc would have unfolded with that in mind. The rest of my notes on this didn’t include any specifics on story beats, until we get to Chapter 10.

In Chapter 10 the team goes to Amp Plains- at this point in my game notes I don’t think I was particularly concerned with dynamics with the rest of the team, but I do remember Kodali’s dad being planned to show up as the Amp Plains boss, something something he’s homophobic and abusive and Kodali as a result had internalized homophobia to deal with. While this is happening, Rune was planned to uh, hit it off with Kodali’s “brother” who was a mew in disguise (very specifically Pika’s character Xander, from Haphazard. This was long before Haphazard even started, and started out as a joke between us because Kodali’s brother just happened to be named Xander as well). They had a weird one-night fling, Rune and Kodali beat the shit out of his dad, and life goes on.

Then we got to the arc where Grovyle is stealing Time Gears from the lakes, and Rune ends up getting seriously wounded in one of these fights (also I think Shiida died in the desert area). She’s hospitalized in the guild (again) and she finds out… she’s pregnant. Now let me just say, I have no idea what I was on when I came up with this as a plot point. I literally can’t imagine it now. So for this ask I received a while back…

Who is Akio?

That’s who Akio is, and where he came from. He’s a weird remnant of a plot point I waffled on for ages. He would have been born in the future of darkness arc (Rune calling him “Akio” because he’s her son of light in a dark world), and in travelling back to the past he would have aged up a bit because something something time travel. If I kept going with the original version of the comic I probably would not have gone through with it. It also came with a weird subplot where Kodali has a stick up his ass about Rune having a relationship with his brother instead of him, and generally would have been uncomfortable to watch.

From here on I didn’t really have a lot lined out for the comic outside of a few key points:

Dora’s real name is Pandora (nice save there, girl), and she was part of the team from the future. But she was also a double agent- since everyone saw Dusknoir’s betrayal coming, I thought it would be more fun to have another betrayal that wasn’t predicted.

Kodali and Rune did end up getting together, like classic heterosexuals. Dora would have queerbaited everyone because at the time I was dealing with my own internalized homophobia and couldn’t imagine her and Rune getting together or- gasp- all of them being in a polyamorous relationship. (Note: I am now very gay ((bi)) and unafraid of gender)

When the team got back from the future, some years would have passed, and Fawkes would have been an adult. (I think they aged like animals so they weren’t gone for too many years, but yanno)

There was another member of the future squad named FM, who was a Noivern/Charizard hybrid. He’s also the one who killed Fienne’s brother, for some reason. Dusknoir was planned to kill him on-screen at some point.

Apparently there was also a Milotic in my old notes who was also part of the future team? She’s talked about but never seen, and got killed by Dusknoir as well somewhere off-screen.

Fawkes’ dad was an Arcanine who worked with Darkrai and would have shown up in the final boss fight, if I got to that point.

Fusion was a thing in this iteration of the comic. That weird big guy that showed up in Chapter 5 was a fusion of the Guildmaster and Chatot. It also, for some reason, was kind of a thing people didn’t really know about? I think at some point I decided only human-turned-pokemon could fuse with other pokemon, but it wasn’t what I originally planned. Rune and Kodali def would have fused during the Dialga fight.

If I ended the run pre-epilogue, Rune would have disappeared as the future changed and she’d be dead and that’d be the end of the run. She and Kodali kiss, Kodali cries, the end. I guess Akio lives with Kodali at that point.

If I ended the run post-epilogue, Darkrai would have killed Rune in the final battle.

So the original thesis of the story was, Rune is a bad person and deserved to die. Which is kind of why I didn’t want to keep going with the original run of the comic- I based a lot of her traits on horrible people in my life, and the comic was a means of me venting how frustrated and angry I was with it all. Which… isn’t really something I wanted to do, as I started to grow and heal. Old OBT didn’t have planned themes of amnesty or forgiveness, nor the foundation for it, and that’s why I don’t think it would have been possible for me to continue the comic as it was. Current OBT has a lot of themes like that, and in a lot of ways, it gives me opportunities to forgive myself as well. I guess this ask is a lot less of “what would I do if the comic continued” and more just going over major notes I had based on the direction things were going, because there isn't really a world where I could have drastically changed the story to fit the themes I wanted to explore.

Third is my Gabite! His name is Mako, and he's a little silly. A lot of people are a little scared of him, but unless in battle, he wouldn't hurt a Butterfree! He tends to stare off into space a lot, haha. Battler

My fourth Pokemon is Jumpluff! Her name is Pinwheel. She's quite tough, and one of my strongest battlers, though she doesn't look it. Pinwheel really likes sweets! Battler

My fifth partner Pokemon is Tyrunt! His name is Oliver! I recovered him on an expedition in the Kalos region last year! He's a bit shy and has a bit of a chewing problem, but I'm always sure to provide him with plenty of toys to chew on! Non-Battler

The newest Pokemon on my team is a Gothita! Her name is Celeste! I found her in my most recent expedition in Unova! She's a bit naive, being just recently hatched, but she's a fast learner! She really enjoys playing with my other partner Pokemon! Non-Battler

Celeste is no longer the newest Pokemon on my team! I recently hatched a Roggenrola, and named him Kale! I don't know much about him yet, but as time goes on, I'm sure I'll learn more! Non-Battler

My dream is to become a professor, buy a small house close to the coast and live with Pokemon, raising them and studying them!

Hello! Did you know? Butterfree's wings are covered with a water-repellent powder. This powder allows Butterfree to fly in heavy rain. However, this powder is also mildly toxic to humans. In spite of this, it was once used as a material for coats and umbrellas. Water-repellent clothes made of Butterfree scales were incredibly popular for a long time since no other material was as effective at repelling water. It was not until about 30 years ago that it became illegal to use Butterfree's powder in clothing and manufacturing due to its toxicity. About 20 years ago, researchers in Kanto were able to produce a material that had the water-repellent effects of Butterfree scales, without the toxicity!
