Your brother and sister were so protective of you. After some of the things they’d been through, you couldn’t really blame them, and you were thankful that they were always looking out for you. The only downside? They seemed to hate every person that asked you out or showed interest in you. You were sure that you would be single forever if it was up to them, because they didn’t think anyone was good enough for you.
Once they went away to New York for school, you missed them, but with there only being a one-year age difference, you knew you wouldn’t have to wait long before you’d be heading to Blackmore. You took the opportunity to finally put yourself out there and go on dates without the twins interfering, and you were starting to realize how right they were when they told you that the guys in Woodsboro weren’t really worth your time.
When you FaceTimed Chad to let him know that you got accepted into the same university as him and Mindy, he was beaming at the news. He was going on and on about all the things he loved about New York, and wouldn’t shut up about the pizza, but you tuned out everything he was saying once you noticed his roommate in the background. His hot roommate.
“Dude, my sister got in!” Chad yelled, as you rolled your eyes. He seemed more excited than you were about the whole situation. “Ethan, come say hi.”
“Fine,” he huffed, as Chad passed him his phone. He paused for a second once he saw you, but quickly pulled it together. It was awkward enough to meet someone for the first time on a phone screen, and he didn’t want to make it any weirder. “Hey, I’m Ethan.”
“Ah, the dorky roommate,” you said, as Ethan looked away from you to glare at Chad.
“Is that how you tell people about me? You say that I’m dorky?”
“If the shoe fits…” Chad trailed off before he tried to take his phone back from Ethan.
“Well, it was nice to meet you,” he said, passing the phone back to your brother.
“Have you told Mindy yet?” Chad questioned, a smirk on his face as he waited for your answer.
“No…”
“I knew I was your favorite!”
Once Chad and Mindy came home for summer break, they wouldn’t stop talking about how excited they were to take you back to New York with them. They were heading back early to help Chad move into his own apartment with Ethan, and Mindy was moving into the spare bedroom at Tara’s with Anika. They decided that you needed to come with them, even though you wouldn’t be able to move into your dorm for a couple weeks.
“I’m not thrilled about couch surfing,” you said, as Chad rolled his eyes.
“I’d sleep on the couch. You could sleep in my bed.”
“So, she’s staying with you for two weeks? I thought she’d stay at Tara’s,” Mindy said, “What happens when you want to stay over with Tara and she’s left alone with Ethan?”
“Oh, please. Ethan won’t try anything,” Chad said, as Mindy scoffed. “What?”
“What makes you think Ethan wouldn’t try something?”
“Because he’s my boy. He knows she’s off limits…I already told him,” Chad said, as you sighed in frustration.
“You know what? I’m not doing this whole ‘You can’t date so and so’ shit that I’ve dealt with for years,” you said, as Mindy cocked her eyebrow at you.
“You’re staying at Tara’s,” she said, “You’ve gotten a little feisty lately. It wouldn’t surprise me if you tried to get with Ethan just because we said you can’t.”
“No, I’m staying with Chad. It’ll be fine. Ethan doesn’t seem like the type to try anything,” you said, as she had a confused look on her face.
“When have you talked to Ethan?”
“Oh, that was when she called me first to let me know she got into Blackmore,” Chad smirked, as Mindy snapped her head in his direction.
“No, she called me first.”
They turned to look at you, “Who did you call first?” they both asked at the same time, as you shrugged.
“I’ll never tell.”
When you made it to New York, you were exhausted. You couldn’t sleep on the five-hour flight, and the jet lag was really starting to get to you as you went to the baggage claim area to get your stuff.
“When’s your furniture getting delivered?” Mindy asked, as Chad checked his phone.
“Soon. Ethan’s here somewhere,” Chad said, glancing around for his friend that was taking you back to your new home for the next two weeks.
“I think that’s him,” you said, pointing to the guy with the huge sign that said ‘Meeks-Martin’. “Is he always that lame?”
“Yeah, poor dude can’t get a girlfriend to save his life because he’s that cheesy,” Chad said, as he walked over and took the sign from him. “We’re just going to put this in the trash.”
“Hey, it took me two minutes to make that,” Ethan said, as he glanced over to you. He noticed you struggling with your luggage and carryon. “Can I help you with that?”
“I got it,” Mindy said, grabbing the large suitcase from you. She stared Ethan down for a second before she walked past him.
“How do you deal with them?” Ethan asked, as you sleepily smiled at him.
“They’re not that bad.”
As Ethan drove, Mindy was in the backseat arguing with Chad as he sat in the passenger seat about how you staying at Tara’s would be best. You sighed as they bickered, before you noticed that Ethan kept glancing back at you in the rear-view mirror. You thought he was even more attractive in person and thought about how hard the next couple weeks could potentially be with him living in the same apartment as you.
“Seriously, how are you going to feel when those losers leave the toilet seat up all the time?” Mindy questioned, as Chad scoffed.
“I think we’re housebroken,” Ethan spoke up for the first time in the drive as he glanced back at Mindy. He quickly looked away once he noticed her glaring at him.
“Listen, Landry. I know I won’t be able to convince her, so I want to make it perfectly clear that if you touch my sister, I will kill you.”
“What makes you guys think that I’m like that?” Ethan asked, the annoyance in his tone obvious.
“They think anyone’s like that when it comes to me,” you said, smiling at him as his eyes met yours in the mirror again.
You made it to Chad and Ethan’s apartment seconds after the furniture delivery truck pulled in. Once they opened the back of the truck, Mindy’s jaw dropped.
“I can’t believe mom paid for all this stuff,” she said, as Chad sighed.
“She didn’t. Ethan and I took out loans.”
“Maybe you should’ve asked mom. She paid for all my bedroom stuff,” Mindy shrugged, as Chad sighed.
“Why didn’t I think of that?”
After the stuff for the apartment was scattered in various areas of the house, Mindy got the text that Anika was at Tara’s, and was wondering when she’d be over.
“You staying here, or coming with me?” Mindy asked but cut you off before you could even respond. “You’re coming with me.”
“No, she can hang out here if she wants to. We’re all going out for pizza later tonight, anyway,” Chad said, as Mindy rolled her eyes.
“Are you two going to argue like this until I move into my dorm?” you questioned, as the twins exchanged their glances.
“Probably.”
“I’ll hang out here,” you said, as Mindy nodded.
“I’ll see you soon.”
Later that evening after you’d helped the two boys set up their new apartment, you were starting to get hungry. Chad wanted to keep working, and you eventually flopped onto the couch, sighing in defeat.
“I’m starving,” you whined, as Ethan walked into the living room and sat down on the free cushion beside where your feet were resting.
“Me too,” Ethan said, matching your whining as Chad glared at the two of you. “What? It’s been a long day. We skipped lunch.”
“We’ll leave soon,” Chad said, as you got an idea in your head.
“Orrr you could meet us there,” you suggested. “You know how I get if I don’t eat.”
“True,” Chad sighed, “Ethan, make sure nothing happens to her.”
“I won’t let her out of my sight.”
As you walked beside Ethan, he started to make small talk. By the time you made it to the restaurant, you were in a full-blown conversation about all the interests you both had, and he was proud of himself that he didn’t get nervous when he talked to you. You scanned the restaurant for your sister and Tara, but once you noticed they weren’t there yet, you and Ethan sat at one of the tables.
“Do you want to eat now, or wait?” he asked, looking at you from across the table.
“We can eat now, I’m so hungry.”
“I was hoping you’d say that.”
While you and Ethan ate the pizza that Chad hyped up so much, you were surprised at how good it was. You kept talking to Ethan, but you soon realized how much time had passed, and no one else had showed up to the restaurant.
“Where do you think they are?” you asked, as Ethan sighed.
“Okay, don’t hate me,” he said, as you curiously stared at him. “I kind of wanted to get to know you without your brother and sister making it seem like I was trying to get into your pants.”
“That’s really sweet,” you said, taking a sip of your drink. “But if they aren’t here, where are they?”
“They probably went to the one on campus.”
“Did you trick me into going to dinner with you?” you joked, as he started to blush.
“I’ll be honest, I thought they would’ve come to hunt you down by now.”
As soon as those words left his mouth, Chad, Mindy, Tara, and who you assumed to be Anika walked in. Chad sighed in relief once he saw you, but Mindy just looked pissed.
“You know how many pizzerias we stopped at to look for you?” she questioned before she looked at Ethan. “Why did you bring her to this one?”
“Simple mistake,” he shrugged, as Mindy stared him down.
“Simple mistake, my ass. I told you Ethan would try something with her.”
“It’s just pizza!” you snapped, “Last time I checked, we weren’t fucking.”
Everyone’s jaws dropped at your words as the waitress brought the check to the table. Ethan took it from her, his mouth still hanging open as he looked at you.
“You want to split it?” you asked, as he shook his head.
“I got it.”
“We’re going back to Tara’s,” Chad said, as you stood up from the table to hug her.
“Hey,” you said, before you turned to Anika. “It’s nice to meet you. Mindy wouldn’t shut up about you all summer.”
“Aww, babe,” she said, pulling Mindy into a side hug.
“Look, as much as I’d love to hang out with you guys, I’m exhausted,” you said, yawning as Chad sighed.
“I really wanted to hang out with Tara.”
“I’ll walk her home,” Ethan suggested, as Mindy, once again, glared at him. “I can drop her off and go to Tara’s after.”
“No, I don’t want her left alone in an area that she doesn’t know,” Chad said, as you rolled your eyes.
“I can stay there with her, then. Seriously, I won’t try anything,” Ethan said, putting his hands up in defeat as Chad nodded.
“I know you won’t, dude. Thanks.”
As you and Ethan made your way out of the restaurant, you heard Mindy scold Chad for being so trusting. But Chad felt like he had no reason to think Ethan would do anything to betray his trust.
Once you got back to the apartment, you were tired, but not tired enough to fall asleep. Ethan was about to head to his room before you stopped him.
“Do you want to watch a movie or something?”
“I thought you were exhausted?” he asked, as he turned around and made his way towards you.
“I just didn’t feel like going with them and being there all night,” you sighed, as he sat on the opposite end of the couch. “Why are you sitting over there?”
“Because if Chad comes home and sees me sitting beside you, I’m sure I’ll be moving out of here into an unmarked grave,” he said, half-joking as you rolled your eyes.
“Please. If it was Mindy, yeah. But Chad, I don’t think so.”
“Whatever you say,” he said, scooting closer to you as he turned on the tv. “You cool with something scary?”
“Mindy’s my sister, what do you think?”
“Scary it is.”
Ethan thought that after sitting through some of the goriest movies ever with the Twins, there was no way that you’d be freaking out over some jump scares. But once you were practically in his lap, your face hiding behind your hands as the scene played out on the screen, he started to laugh to himself.
“What?” you asked, looking up at him. That’s when you realized that you were practically on top of him and went to move, but his arm wrapped around you to hold you in place.
“Your brother and sister don’t get phased by this shit,” he said, smiling down at you. He started to glance between your eyes and your lips, and he was so close to making a move, when a loud shriek on the screen pulled your attention away from him.
“This is one of the few I haven’t seen,” you shrugged, “I wouldn’t be so jumpy if you picked something I had seen before.”
“I don’t think I believe you,” Ethan chuckled, as you turned your head to look at him again.
“If you want to kiss me, you should probably do it soon. The movie’s almost over,” you said, as he smiled and leaned down.
When his lips touched yours, you felt something different than what you’d usually feel when you’d kiss someone. You immediately felt the chemistry, and with the way his lips were quickly moving with yours, you were sure that he felt it, too.
Once he pulled away to catch his breath, he had a sweet smile on his lips. He definitely didn’t expect to kiss his best friend’s sister, but he was happy that you were bold enough to tell him it was okay. Another thing he didn’t expect was for you to adjust yourself so you were straddling him, as his eyes looked into yours. His hands moved to rest on your thighs as you leaned down to kiss him again. This time, it was way more intense. Your hands were in his hair as his hands rested on the curve of your ass to keep you as close as he could.
The second the kiss got deeper, you heard the sound of a key going into the front door.
“Shit,” you said, pulling away and jumping off the couch.
“Wait,” Ethan said, as he followed you. He pulled you in for one more quick kiss before you rushed into Chad’s room and shut the door.
When Ethan walked back out, Chad had just made it to the living room.
“Where were you?” Chad questioned, as Ethan glared at him.
“My room is beside yours. I wasn’t trying anything with your sleeping sister,” Ethan scoffed, as Chad nodded.
“Sorry, dude. I had to listen to Mindy talk about how much she hated the idea of the two of you being here alone.”
“It’s cool, just don’t accuse me of shit you know I wouldn’t do.”
Ethan felt a little guilty for lying to Chad, but you were the first girl that he’d actually felt something for in a long time. After days of stealing quick kisses and steamy make-out sessions whenever Chad was in the shower, the sexual frustration was starting to build. Ethan knew that he wasn’t going to initiate it, because the last thing he wanted was for you to think that was the reason he was spending time with you. Plus, you hadn’t been left alone long enough since the first night.
“So, I think Tara and I are going to a movie tonight. You guys want to come?” Chad asked, as Ethan looked over to you as you sat on the opposite end of the couch.
“I’m not really in the mood to watch a movie,” you said, as Chad cocked his eyebrow at you.
“You don’t want to watch a movie?” he questioned, as you shook your head. “What about you, Ethan?”
“Dude, spend time with your girlfriend. I’m sure she doesn’t want a third wheel tagging along.”
“Mindy and Anika are going, too. You wouldn’t be a third wheel,” Chad said, as Ethan chuckled.
“Your right, I’d be a fifth wheel. You guys have fun. I’ll probably just play video games all night anyway.”
“Okay, I should be back around eleven,” Chad said, as he made his way towards the apartment door.
As soon as he left, Ethan was on you, literally. You moved so you were laying back as he hovered over you, his mouth moving with yours as your legs wrapped around him.
“Hey, do you want to go to your room?” you asked once he pulled away to breathe.
“You sure?”
“Mhm.”
Within seconds, his feet met the floor, and his hands reached for yours to pull you up. He led you down the hallway to his room, before his lips connected with yours again. He backed you towards the bed, a small squeal slipping past your lips against his as your back hit the comforter. Your legs wrapped around him again, holding him as close to you as you could. One of his hands was running up your side over your shirt, until the material started to ride up. He gave you goosebumps as his fingers moved over the newly exposed flesh, before he pulled away to look at you.
“What do you want to do?” he asked, “Because if you just want to make out, that’s fine. There’s no pressure, and I don’t want you to think that I just want sex.”
”I know you don’t,” you said, smiling at him. “But if the sexual tension get’s any stronger between us and we don’t do something about it, I might actually explode.”
“So, you want sex,” he said, trying his best to not freak out.
“Yeah,” you said, as he leaned back down.
It didn’t take long for his hips to start moving, the hard cock in his sweatpants brushing against you. You gasped into the kiss every time your clit got the smallest amount of friction, before his hand moved in between your bodies so he could rub you over the shorts you were wearing.
“Fuck,” you mumbled against his lips. “You can take those off me, if you want.”
He quickly slid them down your hips before his hand went back in between your legs, rubbing across your soaked panties.
“You’re so wet,” he groaned, “Does kissing me do this to you?”
“Yes,” you said, as his lips moved to your neck.
Your bottom lip was in between your teeth as he slid your panties to the side, his finger rubbing slow circles over your clit.
“We’re here alone, baby. Don’t hold those pretty sounds in.”
Soft whimpers were slipping past your lips as his finger moved faster against your sensitive bundle of nerves. Your pussy was already drenched, and you felt yourself getting more wet by the second. You whined in protest once he pulled away, but he quickly shut you up, a low moan falling out of your mouth when he easily slid two of his fingers inside you as he moved down the bed.
Your hands tangled in his hair the second his tongue touched your clit, his fingers hitting that special spot inside you. Your hips were involuntarily arching off the bed at the feeling as he struggled to keep you pinned down.
“So good,” you moaned, as he sucked your clit into his mouth. “Fuck.”
Once he started to hum with your clit in his mouth, you felt the coil in your stomach getting tighter and tighter. Your moans kept getting higher and louder, and he made the mental note that he really couldn’t sneak around with you like this if Chad happened to be home, because you were just so loud. He loved it, though. All the noised you were making went straight to his throbbing cock as he brought you closer to the edge. Once your pussy started to squeeze his fingers, he sucked harder on your clit, the feeling throwing you into an intense orgasm. He groaned as your shaky hands tugged on his hair, his fingers slowing as he got you through it.
Once you started to relax, he sat up to look at you as he slowly slid his fingers out. Your cheeks were rosy, your chest was heaving, and you were still a little shaky. He loved that he had that effect on you and couldn’t wait to actually be inside of you.
“Let me help you with your shirt,” he said, as you sat up and looked at him, your eyes still hazy.
“That felt so good,” you finally said, as he chuckled.
“I hope so with how hard you were pulling my hair.”
“I’m sorry,” you said softly as he shook his head.
“Don’t be sorry, I loved it.”
Once he got you out of your shirt and bra, and he slid his sweatpants down his hips, he walked over to the bedside table to grab a condom.
“You still want to do this, right?” he asked, as you smiled at him.
“Yeah.”
He slid his boxers down his thighs before he rolled the condom on and lined up with your soaked pussy. He took his time as he inched his way inside of you, a loud moan falling past your lips once he was all the way in.
“So fucking tight,” he rushed out, before he started with slow thrusts. “That feel good?”
“Yes,” you moaned, your hands reaching up to squeeze your breasts as he started to go faster.
You knew you were wet, but you could hear how wet you actually were as his cock slid in and out of your pussy. His eyes stayed on you. He didn’t want to miss any of the faces you were making.
“Can I be on top?” you asked, as he smirked at you.
“Yeah, babe,” he said, as he pulled out and laid down.
You got up and moved to straddle him, the whimpers flooding out of your mouth as you sank down onto him.
Ethan felt like he was in heaven as his hands held onto your hips. He had the perfect view of your face, your tits, and he could even see his cock sliding in and out of you. Your hands moved to rest against his chest so you could stabilize yourself as you rolled your hips, the tip of his cock giving your g-spot the attention it needed.
“Come here,” he said, as you leaned down, your bare chest pressing against his. You felt his hands snake around you to hold you close before his hips started to move, his cock thrusting in and out of you so quick that you couldn’t think straight. He was letting out soft grunts that could barely be heard over your moans. You were both getting sweaty as you clung to him, his pace not letting up as you felt yourself start to get close.
“Fuck, Ethan,” you whined, as you felt that white-hot feeling spreading across your body, your hands gripping him as he just kept fucking up into you.
“I’m almost there, baby.”
You didn’t think it was possible, but he went even faster. You were a moaning mess as he kept slamming his cock into you, before his thrusts got erratic.
“Cumming,” he groaned, as you slowly moved back to meet his thrusts as he got himself through it. “Fuck, that was…fuck.”
“Yeah,” you mumbled against his chest.
He slid out of you but held you close for a few minutes, his hands rubbing over your back as you both caught your breath.
That’s when you heard other voices inside the apartment. You shot up, your eyes looking down to meet Ethan’s panicked ones.
“Where are they?” Mindy asked, the annoyance in her tone obvious as you and Ethan jumped up to grab your clothes off the floor.
Ethan quickly took the condom off and slid his boxers on as you tried to put your clothes back on. It was too late, though, once his bedroom door eased open.
“Hey, dude,” Chad said, before closing the door once he noticed Ethan was just in his boxers. “Shit, sorry.”
Chad was embarrassed as he turned to look at Mindy before he realized something. Your shorts were on Ethan’s bedroom floor.
“What the fuck is going on in here?” Chad’s voice boomed once he opened the door. This time he was able to see you, but you’d just slid your shorts back up over your hips. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
He walked over to Ethan and grabbed him by the shirt he was able to put on in those few seconds, and you could see the fear in Ethan’s eyes as he looked over to you.
“Don’t fucking look at her!” Chad yelled, as Mindy finally walked into the room.
“Told you her staying here was a mistake,” she said, as Chad got angrier by the second.
“I didn’t think that my best friend couldn’t keep his dick in his pants.”
“Stop, seriously. You guys are making this more than it needs to be,” you said, as Chad looked over to you. “Calm down, Chad. He’s your best friend.”
“Last time I checked, friends don’t sleep with their friend’s sister!” he yelled, before he looked back at Ethan. “I can’t fucking believe you did this.”
“Why are you acting like I had no part in this?” you asked, as Mindy scoffed.
“Yeah, right. I’m sure Ethan charmed you out of your panties just to get what he wanted.”
“That’s not true!” Ethan snapped, his fear of Chad kicking his ass turning to anger as his friend finally let go of his shirt. “I really like her. This has nothing to do with me just wanting to sleep with her.”
“She’s my baby sister, Ethan!”
“Stop calling me that,” you sighed in frustration. “I’m a year younger than you. I’m a legal adult. Nothing Ethan and I did is wrong aside from you two saying that he needed to keep his distance from me.”
“He obviously doesn’t listen,” Mindy said, as you felt yourself start to get mad.
“You know what really fucking sucks? You two are my best friends, but you won’t let me live. You won’t let me experience things. You know Ethan’s not a bad person…you know how bad I’ve wanted to hang out with him and get to know him better, but you guys won’t let that happen.” you ranted, “I like him, too. And if I want to be with him, you aren’t going to tell me that I can’t! You better not threaten him anymore, either. I’m sick of this childish shit.”
Your sibling stared at you as Chad nodded in understanding. He had no problem intimidating any of the boys that’d shown interest in you, but out of the two of them, he was the one that seemed to be the one that got you.
“I do really like her. I don’t want us to have to sneak around, but I’ll keep doing it, if I have to,” Ethan said, smiling at you. “She’s amazing. It’d be stupid of me to not want a chance with her.”
“Do we have to sneak around? Or can you guys be cool about it?” you asked, as Chad sighed.
“I’m cool with it. Just…no hooking up when I’m here.”
“You’re okay with this?” Mindy scoffed, as Chad rolled his eyes.
“Ethan’s not a bad person. If he really likes her, what’s the big deal?”
“And that’s why he’s my favorite,” you said, brushing past them to head to the bathroom.
“Told you,” Chad said, teasingly pointing at Mindy before she smacked his hand away. “Ow!”
“Ethan, you better not hurt her,” Mindy scolded, as he nodded.
“I won’t…but can you guys get out while I put my pants back on?”

pairing: leon kennedy x gn reader
summary: leon saves reader from escaping raccoon city and falls for them
warnings: cursing, pure fluff, kissing!
a/n: been obsessed with resident evil for a while now so i just wanted to do this for my re fanss ;)) also ik the pics i chose are from re4 just go with it.
you were in your apartment folding laundry in the living room. the tv was turned on as re-runs of tv shows played in the background. all of a sudden, “BREAKING NEWS” displayed over your television screen. as you got closer to the tv, you heard screams and bangs coming from your complex. “we interrupt this broadcast as Raccoon City has fallen victim to a mysterious virus spreading throughout the city. We advise all residents to take shelter and gather resources in case of evacuation.” the broadcast lost signal and the screen was now black.
you were terrified by this news as you lived alone and had little to no knowledge about what to do in a situation like this. then, a bang on your door startled you and almost caused you to have a heart attack. “who’s there??” you shouted out the most cliche horror movie question but there was no response. you got closer to the door, tip-toeing all the way to your peephole. you looked through and saw a man standing there but he didn’t look like a man. his skin was pale as a ghost and he was missing his right arm. you gasped and ran towards your window to escape.
when you got to the front of your apartment complex , you ran left towards a gas station hoping that someone would be able to help. once you got there, it was pitch black and there didn’t seem to be anyone inside. you walked around before hearing screams coming from the backroom. gunshots go off as you run to take cover. all of a sudden, a man runs out and grabs you. "IT'S NOT SAFE HERE LET'S GO!" he screamed as he pushed outside towards his car. you went inside and finally got a good look of him. even in the situation, you noticed how attractive he was but tried not to focus too much on that. "thank you so much. i'm so confused! what is happening?!" you asked him as he drove out of the gas station and onto the road. "i could ask you the same thing! listen it's my first day on the job and this shit happens. i must have great luck i guess."he rolled his eyes and tried to find a safe place for you both.
"the news reporter said something about a virus but i always thought a virus would just mean a cold or something not FUCKING zombies!" you screamed as you still tried to grasp what was happening. the man could tell you were shaking from anxiety and pulled over. "hey hey it's okay. whatever happens i'll make sure we both get out of here safe and sound. it's my job." you smiled at him and felt your heart rate go down. "thanks for that. it was sweet. what's your name?" "Leon. Leon S. Kennedy. yours?" "y/n. you have a cute name leon." you noticed leon started to blush and put his hand on your shoulder. "if we make it out of here alive, can i take you out on a date?"
you were taken back by what he said. one because you two had just met and second you were both in the middle of a life or death situation. "umm yeah sure i would love to." you both smiled at each other as leon turned to the road and found an exit out of raccoon city. after a while, he found a motel that was vacant and the two of you went inside to rest. "how about we just stay here for the night and get some rest?" he asked you as he took off his shirt and pants and went into bed. "i mean yeah sure if that's okay." the two of you laid in bed as leon kissed your forehead and wrapped his arms around you. "i'm so glad i met you tonight. we're gonna be okay i promise. just get some rest y/n." he reassured you with another kiss on your shoulder. you turned and kissed him on the lips. "thank you leon. so after all of this is over, where are we going for our first date?"

You knew it wasn't quite healthy for you disregard your own feelings like this, but you got so used to it.
You hid them so well at times, you feared you weren't even being honest with yourself.
Being a people pleaser wasn't something you wanted to do, but somehow managed to end up being. You never really wanted to make people upset, so you tried your best to help out as much as you could whenever you were able to.
Turning out like this also lead to friends that weren't really there for you, but you were always there for them.
You always were.
Even when they made fun of you, whenever they asked you for so many favours you knew you weren't going to get back, you were always there. You persisted in this so called "friendship" merely because they seemed to actually like hanging out with you.
At least it's what you thought at the time.
And honestly, who could blame you? Although it was most certainly a toxic friendship, they genuinely added you to most conversations. It wasn't as if you were only there to fill up the background most of the time.
Right?
"Hey babes, would you mind buying us some drinks?"
"Buying? Soph, I'm not even drinking tonight, I-"
"Really? You're going to do this to us? After we've invited your ass here? You're really trying to make us look bad?" She spat back, making you nervous.
It's all too familiar.
This has happened too many times for your comfort, and it always seemed to work in their favour; even when you tried to avoid it.
"N-no! I'm just saying that you could-" She put a hand infront of you.
"Shush. God, you're making my ears bleed." She whined before getting closer to your face. "Look, you go over there and ask for five shots of tequila, m'kay? Be a good one for me tonight, it also might improve your own reputation so, you know, stop talking and start moving honey. Tap tap." Her cunning smile and slight push on your shoulder made your heart race in an abnormal speed.
You really didn't want to. You really shouldn't, actually. But they were your friends, weren't they? You're doing this because they're friends.
Yeah, well. Keep telling yourself that lie.
Walking towards the bar and waiting for the drinks, there was this guy waiting right beside you. He looked at you with an amused smirk.
"Five? That's impressive."
"They're not for me." You responded with a half smile.
"Not even one?" He raised a brow, gaining a slight shake of your head as a response. "Sucks. Can I buy you one then?"
You look back at him, now with an amused expression yourself. Taking out his card and giving it to the barista before even letting you pull out your wallet, you looked at his deep, blue eyes.
"Bill's on me this time. Looks like you need a little break." He whispered, a small wink quickly after.
"Well, thank you, kind stranger." You said, taking all of the shots with you and looking back at him.
"Colby." He answered, trying to give you a handshake only to see your hands full and laugh. "Right."
You giggled. "I'm Y/n. Thank you again, Colby." And so, you walked away.
Sam, walking towards Colby after watching his obvious intend of flirting with you, putting his hand on his shoulder and said while looking at you walk away.
"You should've helped her dude."
"Ah, shit."
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。°✩
"God, I can't believe I still invite you to these, you're so ungrateful." She sobbed, "After all you've done to us I still invite you regardless, and this is how you repay us? Your friends?"
You paused, looking slightly down while the dramaqueen infront of you began fanning her eyes and looking up, trying to not ruin her perfect makeup with her fake tears. You tried to restrain your own feelings, closing your hand into a fist, feeling yourself getting frustrated by the second.
The word friends ached in your heart for the very first time, and you knew it wasn't a good sign. "Sorry." You whispered, basically apologizing for feeling. Again.
In the end, you were still too shy to try and confront yourself to her. You knew you would lose, even though you've already created a million different ways of repelling every single one of her insults.
She was too predictable, too easy to contradict. But she had something you didn't.
Confidence.
Maybe if it weren't for the dozens of people that could be staring straight through you, you might be able to have a chance. Even then, you knew better. You get nervous too easily to try and spat back shit to this princess. Slowly but surely, you were starting to lose hope in this so called friendship you had with her and her other dogs.
Or maybe it was already gone, you just didn't want to admit it to yourself.
You were tired.
The stress, the anxiety that was draining you was too much. It wasn't worth it, and you knew it.
What made you keep going? Was it because you were comfortable? Did you not want to try something new? Were you too accustomed to their presence that it made it hard to walk away? Yeah, most likely.
"I can't with you today. You're such a meanie." Soph argued, turning away. "Do whatever you fucking want. Get lost or whatever, I'm not taking you home." She walked away with her group. Their judgemental glares were enough to carve a hole in your heart.
It wasn't only them, but the people that got a glimpse of the situation began murmuring. The feeling of being watched, judged and laughed at by strangers. An unbearable, overwhelming feeling that stopped you in place. You were feeling yourself loose air, your hands shaky at the mere thought and paranoia you were collapsing yourself with.
On the mere edge of tears, you felt a hand on your shoulder, making you jump in surprise. "Oh, my bad." They laughed. A familiar male voice released you from the thoughts. You looked at his face. Colby. "Didn't mean to scare you. Saw you all alone so I passed by to say hello. You doing okay?" He smiled.
Somehow, that smile is all you needed. Your eyes fluttered while you fixated your vision on his pretty face. You smiled back. "Yeah, yeah. Doing good." You tried to compose yourself once again.
Surprisingly, it was easy because of him. His jokes, flirty comments and pretty smile made you completely forget how you were on the edge of a panic attack barely a few hours ago.
"I'll be honest with ya. Last time? You made me so shy that I was going to ask for your number then completely forgot up until it was already too late." He laughed, so contagious that it made you giggle back. "Would you mind giving me a chance of texting you once in a while? Of course, if you don't mind."
"Yeah, sure, I don't mind." You gave him your number. A part of you hoping it wasn't yet another prank that would make you break into despair, but at the same time, you wanted to believe. You still had hope; not everyone is bad. Right?
After passing numbers, you notice the time in your phone. "Ah, shit. I should be leaving, it's too late." You stood up from your seat, fixing yourself up.
"Oh, well, are you driving?" He asked, standing up after you.
"Oh... um. I guess I'll have to call an uber, since my... friend will probably be staying." You mumbled slightly, remembering that bitter memory from not so long ago.
"Mind if I drive you home then?" A soft smile on his face; a sincere one. You looked at him, dazed for a moment. "...Is... Is that a yes?"
"Oh, uh... are you sure? I wouldn't want to bother you." You respond quickly.
"Bother me? Not at all. You've been my light of the party tonight." He laughs at his own statement. "Come on, let's get you home, sweetheart." He followed, putting his hand at your upper back, walking you towards the exit.
You didn't argue about it. In fact, you preferred to leave as quickly as possible, and he was giving you that chance. It was nice, it felt nice to have what you wanted for a change, even if it was as simple as leaving a party sooner than later.
After an annoyingly quick ride back home, you thanked him prefusely before walking back into your appartment.
Tonight took a toll on you emotionally; feeling dread and such a big pleasure at the same time. After a much needed shower and a midnight snack, you heard your phone.
A text? Who would even text you this late at night? You started questioning if it was Soph or one of the other girls, only to soothe the rising stress when you saw the text from a new contact.
Hey, it's Colby. Hoping you didn't give me a wrong number
It made you chuckle while responding right away.
I'm not the type to do that, don't worry
Oh, I'm glad, would've been heartbroken if you did
Did you go back to the party?
Nah, went straight home. The friend that was with me said he was going to stay longer but I went home
Why did you not go?
The life of the party left
Who?
You?
You rolled your eyes at the comment. This cheeky bastard.
You loved it.
Talking for a few more minutes, your eyelids began to close on their own. Your sleep schedule catching up to you.
It didn't take long until you fell asleep.
After some weeks, your supposed friends stopped texting you. One or two parties where you were left uninvited. It didn't bother you much, but at the same time, you were thinking of what you were missing; overthinking around the way it would've turned out great.
But also how wrong it could've been.
It was almost 11 pm, you've been watching the stories of your friends having fun without you. Nothing new, until a text from Colby made it change.
Haven't seen you at the party
Your heart ached. Someone expecting you was something... new. You were blaming yourself, even though it wasn't really your fault.
Kinda sick. Couldn't go.
Aw, that sucks. Hope you get well soon
It felt wrong to do this, but at the same time, nothing new to you. Trying to cover up the true feelings behind the kind smile you always put up.
Thank you.
A couple of minutes passed before another answer came through.
Party's getting boring, wish you were here
Trying to hype me up, Colby?
Is it working?
A little.
You smiled at his small attempts. He's been texting you enough to know there's been a distance between your group of friends. Some personal information between the both of you getting mixed up through conversations, getting to know eachother in a more personal level.
Him, having such an odd job being a 'ghosthunter' and (somehow worst, or maybe better?) he had proof of it. You, on the other hand, another slave to capitalism. Even worse, a slave to a more toxic relationship than your ex boyfriend. Your friends.
Usually, you wouldn't be the type to open up like this; but one thing turned into another and now here we are. A stranger that knows you better than every single person that's passed by your life, merely because he's asked the right questions at the right time. A master with words.
Sooo can we be honest then? Are you actually sick?
I'm impressed at how well you've come to know me.
Figured. You coming to the party then?
I wasn't invited.
How come? I'm inviting you right now
What?
I can take a plus one with me
I want you to be my plus one
…are you serious? I'm not even like, ready or anything.
Are you even sure? I'm not fun.
Take your time sweetheart. Tell me when I'm able to pass by
Also what do you mean you're not fun? Take that back right now
Your cheeks felt warm. You've come to learn to read emotions though text as the time passed by; knowing when you were really not wanted or knowing when somebody else was interested in things outside your circle.
This, however. These texts from this... guy. They felt genuine.
Thank you
It's really no biggie, I want you to come with me (if you want, of course)
So put on something sexy
For the party, of course
You chuckled at the comment. You weren't able to fully comprehend if he was being serious or just as flirtatious as always. But you didn't mind. Right now, you were about to go into a party. Why? God knows.
Maybe you do too, but you wouldn't like to admit it.
Not now, at least.
Standing up and walking toward your wardrobe, you skimmed through it. What should you wear? Something normal as always? Is it even worth it to try and switch it up for a change? You never really tried to make yourself look appealing, there was no reason to anyways.
But this time? Fuck it. It was different. You weren't going with them, you were going with him. You sighed, pushing yourself to wear the most decent looking dress you could find in your closet; fitted with some high heels the same color of the dress.
Finishing off your makeup, you saw your phone light up.
I'm here, take your time
Panicked, you replied.
Thought you were going to wait for me to finish??
I am?
Not in front of my house???
We can leave right away when you're done
Stop arguing, I don't mind waiting here
Come inside at least
Don't mind if I do then
Sighing, you looked at yourself in the mirror. You weren't going to take longer than 5 minutes, but you felt bad leaving him outside. Walking towards your front door, you gulped down the nerves and opened up the door.
He was as fine as always, looking down at his phone before raising his head and looking at your face. His mouth opened slightly, unable to move for a moment.
You were stunning in his eyes. Looking at you up and down, he had to catch his own breath. How was he this lucky to be able to be next to this beauty?
"Is it... too weird? I'm not the type to commonly use these type of clothes..." You almost whispered, doubting your looks.
"You're kidding." He was able to respond. "I've never seen someone look this beautiful." You smiled and rolled your eyes. "I'm serious. Are you seriously not aware."
"Not aware of what?" You asked, a slight frown on your face due to the confusion.
"Of how gorgeous you look?" The frown quickly turned into a surprised look, your cheeks turning red at the revelation.
Hugging slightly your door to try and find comfort, you looked away from his graze. "Get in, I'm still not done." You said and be obliged. Closing the door behind him, you told him to get comfortable while you finished yourself up.
It didn't take you long, fortunately. A few fixes around the eyes and you were basically done. Looking at yourself in the mirror, you were satisfied with yourself this time. You didn't feel forced, heck, you felt beautiful. Perhaps it was Colby's comments that affected your mental state, but whatever it was, it felt good.
Walking back towards the man in your living room, you heard him whistle at you, which made you laugh.
"I'm gonna have so many death stares walking with you tonight."
✮ ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆。°✩
Nervousness filled you up when you walked inside the party. Holding onto Colby's arm, he could feel your hand shaking. He gave you a reassuring look, one that said "Everything's going to be fine."
And you tried to believe it as much as you could.
Whatever you seemingly expected from the night somehow turned into the greatest parties you've ever experienced.
Perhaps it was because you were with Colby's friends instead of yours.
Maybe it was the fact that you were actually connected into their conversation instead of being pushed out. Being listened to instead of ignored and getting talked over.
Was this what it felt to be having fun? You almost forgot this was what it's supposed to be like. It felt nice.
"I'll be right back. Gotta to to the bathroom." You said standing up from your seat.
"I'll go and get some drinks in the meantime. Anyone wants a refill?" Colby asked, nodding at the requests he was receiving. You smiled at him before walking away.
You were quick in finding the bathroom, finishing what you had to do soon enough and getting out of the room.
Before you started walking towards the group, you got pushed away and in the center of a bunch of girls, smirking at you. Judging you. Your heart sank as fast as you recognized just one of them.
"Who do we have here?" Soph teased, a sly smirk on her face. "Isn't it too late for you? Thought you would've been at home. It's past your bedtime, isn't it?" Laughs were heard from the group surrounding you.
No, no, no. This wasn't a good time for this. You were having fun, you were doing so good! You've never felt better at a party and now all of it was destroyed.
"It's none of your business, Soph." You could hear a gasp after your response. A dramatic, opened mouthed expression on her face.
"Oh, so, now that you've found a new stupid little group of freaks now you think you can talk back at me?" She spat out.
You looked slightly to the side. "You just called yourself a freak." You thought, unable to actually argue back. You felt a hand on your chin, making you look at her directly to her eyes.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you." She demanded. You gulped, trying to compose yourself as hard as you could just to not shiver under her. You had to be strong, to proof to her you were better.
But it was hard.
"Think your stupid little face will be fixed with a bit of makeup? Ha." She scoffed, looking at your whole outfit this time. "Someone as ugly as you won't be fixed by a little change of outfit. Not even if that friend of yours tells you otherwise. Or maybe not a friend? Who knows? It's not like he's interested in you anyways." She grinned, roughly moving your face towards a specific corner of the group.
And there you saw it, it was Colby. With another girl. Your heart sank, for some reason. Your breath escaped your lips as it got shaky, eyes quickly watering when you saw her get a bit too close to his face while he, with some drinks on his hands, was unable to do anything.
Why were you feeling like this anyways? It's not like you guys were something, were you? Why did it hurt this much? Your expression softened at the illusion you had made so quickly. So dumb, of course he wasn't interested.
"What's wrong? Did you silly little confidence already shatter? That was so easy." She almost sounded dissapointed. A push on your back was enough for you to fall onto the ground. It's not like you weren't about to anyways, your legs were already shaking at the mere thought that everything that has been going on was a mere lie.
A setup.
You heard laugher, whilst barely holding yourself up by the palms of your hands. "How pathetic. You shouldn't have even come. Now you're just being a bother to another group, another dead weight."
And they were right, you believed they were right. You believed them so easily that it was almost funny.
You could hardly breathe, the tears dwelling onto your eyes as a thick blurriness covered your vision. You couldn't hold it anymore, the stress... it all came to the surface quick enough. The music dissipating into the distance as you heard yourself breathing heavily; the only sound you could focus on.
The sound of you losing your mind. Your heart pounding hard. Too hard, perhaps. It ached. You could feel the frown on your face while the tears kept on flowing.
Come on, you were better than this. Why are you acting this way? You can easily act neutral like always, smiling, ignoring all of these feelings.
But breathing was hard, the murmurs of other people being only that; whispers you could barely understand. You felt like you had no control of yourself, like you were trapped in this center of humiliation of people you once called friends.
But they never intended to be your friends from the start; they were only using you.
This wasn't the first time either. Over and over again you were considered the center of humiliation of these people, the only difference is that this time was the last straw that broke off the mask you tried to so desperately to keep on.
A pair of hands began shaking you, trying to make you stand up from the floor. You couldn't pay attention to who it was, as you were busy enough dealing with the sudden lost of oxygen.
Maybe even a lost of self.
Barely able to walk due to your legs feeling numb from the unbearable feeling in your chest, whoever it was helped you out and moved your arm around their neck. You're not exactly sure what happened, but before you could even get yourself together, you noticed you were outside.
Still breathing heavily, finally, you looked at the figure that helped you out.
Colby.
It only made your panic attack worse. You started crying harder when you saw his face. The pain of being a fool was covered in your face.
"Hey, come on, breathe." He tried to give you your space. Far enough to let you calm down, close enough to hold you up. But he ended up hugging you closer when he noticed how broken you seemed.
You didn't hesitate and held him tighter. "I'm sorry, I.. I... I sh-shouldn't..." You sniffed, trying to find the right words to say. You felt the urge to try and explain yourself to him. Your vision was blurry and finding yourself choking with your own words.
"Let it all out, don't worry. I'm here for you, okay?" He whispered sweet nothings in your ear, his hands caressing your back as he spoke. "Breathe. Calm down your breathing first, sweetheart. It'll be alright."
Shaking in his arms, you found yourself comforted by his scent. Breathing in his cologne felt almost hypnotizing. His way of calming you down absolutely worked. For the most part. Sniffing, you tried to explain yourself, trying to argue to yourself that these feelings shouldn't have appeared, it was all a mere accident.
But your cries were more than enough to make him understand at least half of the situation. He was sure it was your friends, but for some reason you were pleading for forgiveness to him. "Hey... you don't owe me an explination, yeah?" He wiped a few lost tears through the run down mascara and cupped your head in his hands, smiling back at you. "Want me to take you home?"
You were barely able to respond with a little nod. It was all he needed.
It was a decently quiet ride. Colby took it upon himself to try and make you feel alright, holding onto your shaky hand and softly caressing it.
When he parked infront of your home, as he was about to walk out of the car, you stopped him. Looking back at you, he understood and sat back down. You didn't want to go inside, or maybe you didn't want to stand up overall, which he didn't mind if it meant for you to feel alright.
With your shivering lips and puffy eyes, you sniffed whilst wiping some dry tears from your cheeks. The stress has calmed down and you're able to breathe normally once again.
He was patient with you. He didn't try and make you speak up or got tired, he waited. Waited until you said something or wanted to move.
"Sorry." You finally spoke. He kept his eyes on your eyes, waiting for you to elaborate. "I was... a mess, it shouldn't have happened." You wiped some tears before looking at him. He seemed... confused.
"What do you mean it shouldn't have happened?" He asked.
"You're just... trying to have fun while I'm here just... ruining your night. I told you I wasn't fun. You could've found someone else to go with, I-"
"Who said I wanted someone else?" He interrupted.
It made you quiet down for a few seconds before talking back. "Well, I mean..." You sniffed. "You were... with... there was someone else, I just thought... you just... wanted someone... to... um... I don't know... hang around with, not something to carry." It was hard for you to explain yourself.
What were you even trying to explain? Were you just upset because you 'ruined his night' or because of something else? You were confused. "Who? The annoying girl? She randomly came to me, I couldn't even move her away because I had the drinks on my hands."
Annoying was a word that stood out to you. It seemed your overthinking got the best of you. Perhaps whatever you believed wasn't true? Looking at his face dumbfounded, he smirked. "What? Were you jealous?"
That was another word that stood out. Your cheeks fluttered and you murmured to yourself whilst looking away. "As if..." You could hear his contagious laugh after your words, making you smile slightly.
There was a comfortable silence before he spoke again.
"I saw it. Last time. Your 'friends'... The way she didn't even hesitate on making herself the victim when she saw fit. I had to control myself that night, that plastic face of hers was about to change shape if I didn't." He laughed to himself.
You were quiet, so he continued. "Honestly, it made me so mad that even though I was going to try and talk to you anyways, I had to make sure you didn't go back to them. I didn't want you to. You don't deserve friends like that, no one does." His brows furrowed at the thought.
"...It's not like I wanted to, either. I guess I just... got used to it." You whispered, looking at his hands covering yours. He held them tighter and got slightly closer to kiss your forehead, giving you a soft smile afterwards.
"I don't know if you'll ever try to trust again after all of that, but... would you give me a chance to be your friend? For now, who knows if I might level up later on." It made you smile. It always made you smile.
And you wanted to trust. To trust him, even though it might break your heart in the long run. Right now, you just wanted to feel safe, and he was the safest bet. "I guess I can give you a chance. And... let's see if you're able to upgrade sooner than later." He could only smile brighter, kissing your knuckles before changing his tone of voice to a more energetic one.
"So, wanna get drunk in your house? I have a Jack Daniel's in the trunk."
"Wha..."

pairing: Johnnie Guilbert ♡︎ Reader
warnings: ୭̥⋆*。 short (I'm sorry) fluff tbh
summary: ʚ the fans get the wrong idea when you and Johnnie tweet lyrics of his new song ɞ
Words: 1299
An: this is short but honestly it's so sweet and I loved doing this!!
Tumblr media
You made sure to keep balance with the plate and cup in your hands as you approached your office room. You had finally convinced Johnnie to start editing in your office since he moved in. You both even set up a little recording spot for him complete with a spooky background.
You walked up to the door and knocked against it slightly using your foot. After a moment or two the door opened with a slightly worn-looking Johnnie. “Hey what's all this for?” he asked, opening the door for you. “Well you have been working so hard on your new song I thought I outta surprise you.”
You say with a big smile holding up his cup of tea and chips. “Eh, I'm really proud of this song. I just hope it, you know, does well,” he says with a short laugh at the end of his sentence. You smile while walking to the couch that is directly next to his editing chair.
The one you sat at and relaxed while he would stream. The whole world seemed so in love with you two dating. Everyone loved how well you two worked. And you loved it too. “I'm sure they will babe. I think you fucking killed it with this song,” you spoke moving your legs up to your chest and setting the food on the desk.
He smiles as you sit down in his chair and start to click around on his computer. You plucked a chip off of his plate scrolling around Twitter. “Hey, quit stealing my chips,” Johnnie said, staring at you accusingly.
You pause looking up at him, blinking slowly for a second. “When your dick gets bigger I will,” you said with a faux smile. He giggles at your comment, turning back to the computer, his fingers reaching for the coffee mug.
“Be careful, I think the tea is still pretty hot.” you half mumble the warning before putting the chip in your mouth. “I'll drink whatever the fuck I want bitch.” he says in a sassy, Timmy-esque voice. He takes a small sip of the tea before yanking the cup away from his mouth. “Fuck!” he shouts as the hot piqued burned his mouth.
You let out a loud laugh at his reaction, covering your mouth as you did so. “Aahh fuck you!” he yelps again searching for a drink of something colder. You snicker looking back down at your phone. Twitter was usually an awful place to be and it wasn't any different than this time.
You banned Johnnie from looking up his name on social media sites, and it wasn't good that you still did it but occasionally you liked to check in on fans and see what was popular amongst the fandom.
Most were hyping up the newest video you had posted this week and taking clips from it as reactions. Your fans were so funny, like genuinely. It blew you away that people found you so funny.
Of course, there were a select few that were not ideal. One about how You and Johnnie haven't posted in a while, and that you two must have broken up. They were not true by any means. With Johnnie's new song coming out soon it was easier for him to bulk-record videos so he had more time during the day to work on it.
Johnnie had finally calmed down from burning the shit out of his mouth. “How much of the new song have you teased?” you asked using your foot to spin his chair so he faced you. You continued to munch on a few chips, eating all the food you brought for your boyfriend.
“Honestly not much just that I have a new song coming out, not even a date or anything,” he said, grabbing a chip too. “Mmm we should start doing more to promote it, well sorry, you should do more this isn't my song,” you murmur using your ring finger to tap around your phone with your chip-dust-covered hands.
“Mmm, I feel like it's both of our songs in a way, I mean yeah I performed it and edited it but you helped me write it. You're also helping me by taking care of me.” he gestured to his tea as he took a sip.
You smiled at his words. It was nice when credit was given for things like this. This was Johnnie's song but you did help him with the lyrics. It was about the heartbreak of getting older, the lyrics sounding like you were talking to time.
The idea simmered down into a few words; it was like breaking up with time. The lyrics were akin to a breakup song. It was a cool idea and one you dealt with as you grew older. You even starred in the music video as the “time” character.
“What were we thinking of doing?” he murmured with his mouth full. “Maybe tweeting a few of your lyrics? Something you wouldn't normally rant about I guess,” you suggested dusting your fingers off.
“That could be cool, we should do it from the chorus or something,” he said, pulling his phone out of his back pocket. “Yeah for sure,” you mumbled absentmindedly, moving the chair with your foot still.
Over the next few days you both tweeted lyrics from the song. ‘I will forever mourn the loss of us’ and ‘You can't stay innocent to it forever’ got the most likes. Unfortunately, you two were now trending. “What the fuck are we going to do?” you asked looking at the #Johnnieandy/nbreakup tag.
“Just ignore them? The song comes out soon anyway,” he reassured you, his thumb rubbing the side of your thigh. Your legs rested on his lap as you cuddled up next to him.
You still didn't like the idea that everyone thought you two broke up. You can see how someone might think that from your guy’s tweets. And yes you shouldn't assume something about someone online but that just means your fans care about you. Doesn't it?
After a few days, you both released another video on each other's YouTube channels. The entire comments were filled with asking where the other person was. If you two had really broken up this would have been awful. Thank god you hadn't.
You both decided that you two should make at least one video addressing the rumors. On one of your tik toks someone had commented ‘Did you and Johnnie break up?’ so you replied to the comment with a video.
“Hey guys so a lot of people have been asking if me and my boyfriend Johnnie broke up, so today we are going to go ask him,” you said holding the phone up to your face as if introducing a vlog.
The next shot was of your feet walking up to Johnnie sitting on the couch. “Hey babe?” you asked, pointing the camera at him. “Yeah?” he answered back looking up at you. “Did we break up?” you ask as if it was a normal question.
“Umm last time I checked no,” he replied back trying to hold his smile back. “Oh ok, sweat just checking. Love you,” you said back moving the phone down as he broke his serious face and laughed with you.
You posted the tik tok captioned “addressing the rumors”
You cuddled up next to him and read the comments. Most of them were making fun of others for assuming things. The other half was just talking about how cute the two of you were together.
The following day the song and music video were posted and the feedback was worth it. You were so proud of Johnnie and all he had done but this song meant so much to both of you.

January 14th, 2006
It's pretty late at night. I'm watching the news when once again I have to run to the bathroom. I'm throwing up again. I'm feeling sick. I can't even explain why I felt like doing this but...I'm taking a pregnancy test. I bought one earlier this morning but I couldn't do it. I was too scared. But I'm doing it now. I can't be pregnant. I mean...it would be nice to be...No, I am not pregnant. That thing is going to be negative!
The news reporter started to talk. Maybe it got my attention cause they played a song in the background. An Eminem's song.
"Today January 14th at 5pm Eminem and Kim got married for the second time around their fifteen anniversary. Kim said to People Magazine: 'Marshall wanted to do it because it was our fifteenth year together from our original day we started going out'. They repeated their vows from their first marriage..."
As the reporter is talking I'm looking down at my pregnancy test and I found the word "pregnant". And I started to cry. I've been waiting a long time for this moment but it isn't how I imagined it. I just found out that I'm pregnant and that my baby's daddy is married again. Even knowing this I feel the need to call Marshall. But I can't do that. He's probably on his honeymoon right now. He is probably spending such a great time being a family again. I know he did all of this for Hailie's happiness. I know he is trying hard to put his family back together. I can't call him.
So I called Proof.
"Oh, you saw the news, didn't you?"
"No...I mean yes, but I'm not calling about that" I said trying to control my tears.
"Are u okay? What happen?" I could tell he was concerned.
"Well...I kinda need an advice, man"
"Why? What did you do?"
"Nothing...I just..."
"Hey, y/n you can talk to me. We're good friends, aren't we? I don't care what happened between you and Marshall. You and I, girl. We can still be friends"
That made me lost control of my tears.
" Yo, y/n what happen?"
"Man, I'm pregnant" I confess. "Proof, I don't know what to do. I just found out that I am and I saw the fuckin' news..."
"Wait what that...you pregnant? Is it..." he didn't finish the question
"Yes, of course it's Marshall's"
"Shit...you got to tell him, y/n"
I knew he would say that, but I was hoping to be wrong.
"No, I can't do that to him"
"You know him, y/n. If you don't tell him he is gonna hate you"
"I know he deserves to know but he just got married and I know he wants to be happy with his family"
"So? I mean, he can be happy with them and at the same time he can take care of your baby, his baby. I know he'll want to be a responsable dad. You have to tell him"
"Proof, please I just can't...I'm too scared"
"Y/n, I want you to hang off the phone and call Marshall right now"
I needed time. Maybe tomorrow I'll be more brave. But saying this to Proof won't work.
"Listen, I'm going to do a blood test tomorrow just to be extra sure. Okay? If it is positive I'll call him right away"
"If you don't call him by tomorrow afternoon, I'll do it"
"Please, don't. I promise you, I'll call him".
●●●●●●●●●●●●●●♡●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●
The blood test confirmed that I'm pregnant. But when I tried to contact Marshall he didn't answered his phone. So, I called Proof and he planned a reunion for us at Marshall's studio.
"Y/n?" he said when he saw me. "Are u looking for Proof? He'll be here soon, actually I'm waiting for him" he added.
"He's not coming. It's me who you are waiting for. I called you but you didn't answerd so..."
"I'm married" he said rapidly
"I know, Marshall. I just need to tell you something important"
"Go on then. I need to go back to my family, you know" it was something weird in the way he said that, like it was something he had to say it to believe it. I can explain it, I just know him too much. But I didn't ask him about it. So, I extended my hand to him. Letting him know that he needed to grab the paper (the blood pregnancy test) that was on my hand. He read it and then looked at me shocked.
"Is this some kinda joke?" he asked. "Why are u doin' this?"
"I am pregnant, Marshall. And listen I just thought you deserved to know. Even Proof told me that I should tell you 'cause if I didn't you'll hate me forever". I started to say. "I know you think I'm doin' this 'cause I want us to be back together but I promise you I'm not. I would never do something like this to make you leave your family".
"You really are pregnant...How long? How are you feeling?"
Now I could tell he was concerned.
" I don't know how many weeks I am. I just found out that I am pregnant, so I have no idea. And I've been feeling sick"
"Let's take you to the doctors then"
So we made a prenatal appointment.
●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●♡●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●
"The baby is 7 week and 1 day!" said the doctor.
I looked at Marshall's face. It looked like he was counting.
"So, you got pregnant on november 2005..." said Marshall as we both realized that my pregnancy started on the day he left me.
"Which means the due date is September 1st" the doctor told us.
"Oh, a virgo baby!" I said.
"Is it just one or there is more than one?" Marshall asked. I could tell he was really curious.
"I can answer that next week. The next appointment will be an ultrasound appointment, okay?"
I saw Marshall's face lighting up.
"Oh my! Our first ultrasound appointment?" I couldn't wait for that. That's exciting! I'll get to see my baby for the first time.
●●●●●●●●●●●●●●♡●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●
In the car on the way back to y/n's home.
"Did you tell Kim about me? I mean, about me being pregnant" I asked. I was really curious to know if she got a certain reaction. But "no" was the only answerd Marshall gave me.  "So, are u going to hide this from her?"
"I don't want to talk about it right now. Let's get you something to eat" he said.
●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●♡●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●
Time went by and Marshall finally told me that things were not good between Kim and him. He assure me that it had nothing to do with me or my pregnancy. Then he mentioned the word "divorce", but made it very clear that he wasn't doing it because of me.
"I'm really happy you are pregnant, y/n. But now it's not the time for me to be in a relationship" he said.
"Are you going to tell me what happened? It must had been something really serious. I mean, you got re-married and now just three month later you want a divorce"
"I trust you, but I really don't wanna talk about it. Can we talk about the baby?"
"What exactly you want to talk about?" I wonder
"Do you feel it's a boy or a girl?"
I really didn't know how to answer that. I've done all the things to predict the sex of the baby and it's pretty even. I mean, I got 50% girl and 50% boy. So, I have no idea.
"They'll call me soon to tell me my results on the last exams I did and they could tell me the sex you know"
"Are you going to surprise me?" he asked and then leave a kiss on my belly. We're both laying in bed. I was to tired to do the normal things I do like cook and clean. And Marshall volunteer to help me. I couldn't say no. For real, even if I say no he would probably throw me to bed and lock me in my room.
"Yeah, I'm going to surprise you. I don't know how yet but I'll do it".
"Okay, then I'mma go buy you something to eat. Any cravings?"
"Can you get me some donuts?"
"Yeah, I'll be back soon" he says and before he leaves he press his lips on my belly once again. "Love you" he added.
"The baby loves you too" I said.
"I love you, too y/n" he says letting me know that  he said it for both of us, the baby and me. He is driving me crazy. I don't understand him. And people say women are the complicated ones. He doesn't want to be in a relationship and that's why he is getting divorce. So, I think he comes to see me and do shit for me just because the baby but then he is telling me he love me?
"Hey! I said I love you, y/n" he was already by the bedroom door. I know he won't leave unless I say it back.
"Stop it! You are going to get me all horny and shit"
"You’re horny preggers, aren’t you?" he says walking towards the bed.
"I’m fat and horny. It’s disgusting."
" Nah, you could be 300 pounds I’d still do you".
Maybe it's because I'm hormonal but I'm touched and I start crying.
"You're so fuckin' romantic" I say
He sitting by the edge of the bed now. He is touching my belly. His touch is soft. I want to say that I love him. But, honestly I'm just to scared to do that.
"I feel it's a boy. And I can't wait to see the way you're with him. You're gonna be incredible"  he says "I love you, y/n" he assures me.
"I'm nervous..." I manage to say
"I'm nervous too"
"No, you are not!" I replied
"Y/n, I'm not divorce yet... The truth is I'm just waiting for that to be done so I can...so that we can try to do this right. You're my home and I'm sorry it took me a lot of shit to finally understand that. You've always been there for me. I've always came back to you, every fuckin' time. I was so stupid. I'm truly sorry. I promise you I'll never ever hurt you again. I won't leave you. I promise for as long as we're together, to never, ever put you through anything like that again."
"Marshall..."
"Wait, I know it's going to be difficult almost impossible for you to forgive me, but please try. Please, y/n. 'Cause I miss you a lot and I love you even more. You don't have to say it back, though. You don't have to say nothing at all right now. I completly get it". when he finished he got up and left the room really quick. He didn't give me time to express myself.
"I love you, Marshall" I said to the nothingness.
A moment later my phone starts to ring. It's my doctor. She started to tell me about my result and how everything was normal and that I need more vitamin C and then she said:
" This also tell us the sex of the baby. Would you like to know?"
"Yes!"
"Would you like me to tell you over the phone or..."
"Over the phone it's okay" I didn't even let her finish her question. I was to excited!
"Over the phone it's okay?"
"Yes"
"Okay, let me open it up...Alright it looks like you are having a baby boy!"
Omfg! I'm crying, now. Marshall was right! Oh, man I'm having a boy!
"Omg, thank you!" I manage to say
"Congratulations!" said my doctor before ending the phone call.
I couldn't wait to tell Marshall. I needed to surprise him. So, I figurate out a way to do so. I grab a white mug, his favorite mug actually (and it's not his but mine). But okay, it's his favorite. And I wrote inside at the buttom of it: "it's a boy". Then I prepared him a mixed berry smoothie.
He came back just in time.
"Here, try this" I said giving him the mug.
"What are you doing out of bed? Why are you holding my mug? What is this?"
"Marshall, just drink it! It's a mixed berry smoothie and...it has the sex of our baby!"
And just as I finished to say that he started to drink it. He finished in seconds! And as soon as he read what was inside, he ran to put the mug on the table and then ran back to hug me and lift me in his arms.
"Marshall, we're having a boy!" I got my arms around his neck. Enjoying that moment. I was crying but all happy tears.
"Yes! Oh my God, what the fuck! Life is crazy!" He kept saying this words. He was really happy too.
"God is so beautiful!"
"I told you! I knew it was a boy! I fuckin' told you!" He said as he put me down.
"Holy shit, I know that's crazy!"
He knelt in front of me and kissed my belly and then said:
"I knew you were in there the whole time. I love you, son"

I need you now - Modern!Tommy Shelby Imagine
Part 3 of Before he cheats - Based off of I Need You Now by Lady Antebellum
Requested - kinda - @jadesjam sent this as an idea for part 2 but I flipped and made it the third and final part of before he cheats! It hasn't been proofread so beware!
Enjoy! 🥰
------------
"No." I sighed for the upteenth time.
"Oh come on y/n, it's been weeks since all that shit with Tommy, it's about time you come and find yourself a rebound!" My longest friend Leah practically begged down the phone, her birthday was coming up and she'd been trying for the last hour to get me to go out for her pre-birthday bash.
"Le, you know I love you but I'm really not in the mood tonight, we'll do something in a couple days, okay?" I sighed, trying to find some middle ground so the conversation could end.
"Okay fine, but I'll hold you to that! Love you girl!" She cheered happily through the phone, my answer enough to stop the pestering, for now.
"Have fun babe, love you too!" I smiled before hanging up, the smile dropping from my face as soon as the beep sounds. "Guess it's just you and me." I whispered as I looked down at the shoebox in my lap.
Checking the time I couldn't help but laugh slightly at how the time had managed to get away from me, with the clock reading 1:04am I couldn't help but laugh slightly as I looked over the piles of photographs that were covering the floor. "Picture perfect memories, scattered all around the floor, reaching for the phone cause I can't fight it anymore." I sighed, picking one up and focusing on the smiling faces beaming back at me, it was from my 21st birthday around ten minutes after Tommy had officially asked me to be his. We were so happy, everyone was so happy that night, laughing and singing being the only thing to be heard throughout Small Heath that night as everybody celebrated their king finding his queen.
Putting the picture down I reached up to wipe the line tear that has slid down my cheek, sniffing quietly before I picked up another, this one of me and all of the Shelby siblings, Ada and John on one side with Tommy and Arthur the other, even at 16 years old and apparently seeing Greta, Tommy still has his arm round my shoulders, my head resting on his arm. Throwing the picture to the side I huffed as I rubbed my hands over my face, the thought of Greta leading me down a rabbit hole.
"I wonder if I ever cross your mind, for me it happens all the time." I spoke to myself, "Probably not, you've probably had a whole queue of women waiting for this to happen." My voice cracked as I said what I'd been thinking out loud for the first time. "Maybe I should just send a quick text..." I whispered, picking up my phone, opening Tommys contact I paused before starting to type.
It's 1am, I'm all alone and I need you now, I said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now.
Shaking my head I quickly deleted the message and locked my phone, throwing it onto the floor besides me. "Don't give him the satisfaction." I reminded myself with a sigh.
The loud shrill of phone made me shriek, my hand flying to my chest to try and soothe my racing heart. "Motherfuck." I breathed out, reaching over and seeing it's Leah calling.
"Hey Le, what's up?" I asked worried, knowing that she never called when she was out, unless there was a problem.
"Baaaaabe! You'll never guess where we are!" Her cheery voice burst through the phone making me wince slightly. "The garrison!" She squealed without waiting for an answer.
"That's great Leah, but I'm still not coming out tonight." I sighed, not understanding where she was going with this.
"Yeah, yeah, -- all depressed, I know, but I also know that lover -- is just as bad as -- are, if -- worse." She laughed through the phone, the music and voices in the background muffling half of her sentence.
"I can't hear you properly Le." I smiled slightly, her giggles infectious. "Le?" The beep of the phone indicated that she'd hung up. "What the hell was that about?" I muttered, my question answered two seconds later as my phone buzzed again.
I said that lover boy is even worse than you!
A message from Leah with an image of Tommy attached, say at the corner of the bar in the Garrison alone, his head in his hand as his other holds onto a glass of whisky - probably. Just from the zoomed out picture I could see his hair had been left to grow out and his shirt had been left untucked, something that had never happened before, in public anyway.
"Oh baby." I couldn't help but sigh, my heart breaking all over again at the picture.
---
Keeping my eyes down I swigged the last dribble of amber liquid from the glass raising it high before rapping it in the bar a couple times, a sign for the bartender to refill. Feeling the glass being moved from my fingertips I looked up, giving the bartender a nod of thanks as he slid the bow full glass back to me.
Another shot of whisky, can't stop staring at the door, wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before. Rubbing my hand over my face I clenched my eyes as I thought of her, the reason I'd been sat here for the past few weeks doing nothing but drinking whisky after whisky and chain smoking till my chest hurt. Looking over at her door I couldn't help but think back to y/n's 21st birthday, the day we became official, she had come barreling into the garrison with her windswept hair and rosy cheeks absolutely fuming because she thought that everyone had forgot her birthday before the shout of surprise had her forgetting she was ever mad. Shaking my head I couldn't help but wonder if I ever cross her mind, for me it happens all the time, every little thing reminding me of her.
"Fuck sake." I growled to myself, pulling out my phone to check the time. "Quarter past fucking one and I'm sat drinking by myself, again, Thomas Shelby the king of fucking Small Heath aye." I chuckled ironically. Not like I hadn't had plenty of offers during my evenings rotting away at my own bar, but none of them were her, none of them were my y/n.
My heart started to race slightly as I noticed the missed call notification only to drop again as Arthur's name came into view. She said she didn't want to hear from me but surely one text won't hurt, right?
It's 1:15 I'm a little drunk and I need you now, I said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now, and I don't know how I can do without - I just need you now
I'll be at the Garrison - T x
"Fucking pathetic Tom." I shook my head before locking the phone, not realising my thumb had already hit send.
----
1:17, it had taken all of 3 minutes to reach the Garrison, shoving my hands into my pocket so said as I stared up at the gold sign above the door, a door that I'd walked through so may times before but never feeling like this. I jumped slightly as my phone buzzed at the same time as a group of girls can tumbling out the door, laughing and stumbling down the road as they held onto each other for support, I couldn't help but laugh slightly before pushing open the doors.
Stepping through the doorways Leah and the girls immediately caught my eye, giving me a quick wave she grinned before pointing over to the bar my eyes immediately landing on the mop top of black hair and slumped shoulders in the corner. Sending her a quick smile I slowly made my way over to Tommy, hesitantly taking a seat on the stool next to him.
"Not interested." He muttered making me jump slightly.
"Meh, I like your brother more anyway." I shrugged, giggling slightly as his head shot up, eyes wide as he stared at me.
"Y/n.." He breathed out, reaching his hand out he placed his palm on my cheek almost as though he was checking I was really there. "Y/n, I'm sorry, I'm so fucking sorry." He muttered, pulling me forwards slightly and resting his forehead against mine.
"Tommy I-" I took a breath, struggling to think clearly being this close to him after so much time, the longest we'd been apart since we'd met some ten years ago now. "I'm sorry too, I should've let you explain, should've listened to you." My voice wobbled slightly, pulling away I used my sleeve to wipe away the tears that had started to fall before resting my hand on his.
"I figured it would be easier to just finish things, after hearing about you and Gracie I just couldn't think of anything else... And I just lost it.. I dunno Tom. I guess I just, I guess I'd rather hurt than feel nothing at all." I whispered, knowing that over the past few weeks that's exactly how I'd felt, nothing.
"Hey, don't you dare apologise, these past few weeks have been nothing but my fault, and I promise you y/n with everything I have and will ever have, I will spend every day of our future making it up to you. If you'll let me, just one last chance, please." He trailed off, his eyes on mine the whole time.
"One chance Tommy, that's all we have left." I whispered, my grip tightening around his wrist slightly.
"That's all I need." He smirked standing up and pulling me along with him, his arms wrapping around my waist and mine came up around his neck, playing with the longer hair at the nape of his neck. Pulling me in he placed his lips on mine, moving in sync I couldn't help but smile, the Tommy shaped hole in my heart slowly shrinking.
"I missed you so much." He mumbled after we pulled away, resting his chin on the the top of my head as he pulled me into a hug, completely ignoring the looks he was getting from the punters who had never even seen him smile before.
"I missed you too Tommy." I sighed happily, resting my head on his chest, sending a quick wink to Leah as she caught my eye, making her erupt into screams, much to the confusion of everyone else.
"So that's how you found me aye?" Tommy chuckled, the sound echoing through his chest.
"She helped yeah, but there was also the text you sent." I giggled slightly, as I head the faint 'shit' leave his lips. "It's okay Tommy, I love it when you're cheesy." I grinned, patting his chest as I looked up at him.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." He chuckled as he shook his head. "I love you." He whispered, eyes locked onto mine.
"I love you too." I smiled, placing a quick peck to his lips before resting my head back against his chest. "Oh and Tom?" I muttered without looking up, only the slight hum letting me know he heard.
"I'm sorry about your car."
----
And there we have it! I know it's slightly shorter and I personally don't feel like this part is even nearly as good as the previous two, but hey, we move on!
Thank you for reading and I do hope you've enjoyed! 🥰❤️

Wait im sorry if like youve talked about this before but what is everyones roles in the fantasy au 👁️👁️ or jobs?
i've just Thought Aloud in bits and pieces but hey. i feel like talking today so i'll put it all in one place with Updated Thinkings
(i like to imagine that they all kinda Quit their initial jobs/lives to go adventuring with each other, either by choice or... not. except Howdy, who's a multitasking king). the Neighborhood party earns their wages by completing jobs/quests, though some of them have minor supplemental ways of adding to the coin collection
Wally, of course, didn't really have much of a Before. he didn't intend on becoming a warlock/wizard - that choice was kinda made for him by the circumstances of his existence. but Wally had to pretend to be a wizard for his own safety, and wizards have a sort of societal expectation to be Helpful and Magical and Wise and Existing For Public Service. so while Wally would have rather just been a painter, he's obligated to be a wizard - that's technically his role/job. within the Neighborhood party, he's a bit of a distance fighter/support! he doesn't really do the whole up-close / physical aspect of battle, though he technically knows how. He casts spells from afar, which tend to be widely benign. artsy little cantrips and inconveniences to make it harder for the enemy to fight. he's also a bit of a bloodhound - illusions don't trick him, he can "see" most magic, and he's really good at getting around unnoticed. if they're stuck somewhere, Wally can probably get them out
Barnaby's "job" before going adventuring with Wally - it started out as just the two of them! - was just working on the farm with Ms. Beagle, where he had been his entire life. Sure he'd sometimes do public performances/acts in town, which would earn him extra coin, but that was more of a paying hobby than anything (a paying hobby he will Continue) in the Neighborhood, he's... uh. their cheerleader? that's not entirely inaccurate! he's not big on combat or effort i'd reckon, so he prefers to just keep morale high. offer background music, funny commentary, jokes to lighten the mood, mediate tensions, etc. if necessary, he makes good backup - he has his illusions of course, and he Does pack a mighty punch if need be! he's also very helpful when retreating - he can grab the smaller party members and run
Wormie is the group mascot <3
Sally was a bit lost before joining the party - i like to think that she was constantly on the move as part of a traveling theater troupe, but she wasn't the star or director. she was just part of the group, uninspired and with a full well of untapped potential. one day she up and left (dramatically) to find her own inspiration/muse & path to stardom, which ended up being several years of wandering until she happened across the budding Neighborhood and went "this! this will be the source of my stories!" as for her role, she's a bit of an everyman. front lines fighter, entertainer, mediator, etc. she views herself as the party "leader", or rather, their Manager. she keeps the party entertained with stories, and bolsters their reputation in the same manner. in a battle she's a bit of a powerhouse - her light magic is useful both in combat and entertainment! she keeps a "book" of the Neighborhood's exploits (she swears it will be edited/published someday) holy shit she's moominpappa, and in their Extended downtime she writes and throws plays inspired by their adventures at their home base (town).
Eddie was still, originally, a mailman. or i suppose in a fantasy setting - a courier! until one day he saw a group of people being attacked by some bandits, managed to fight them off, and immediately got roped into helping rescue the folks' entire town from the bigger group of bandits. then they told others about Eddie's help, they wanted his help too, one thing after another and now he's got a full set of armor, a sword, a shield, and his whole thing is saving people. huh? how did that happen? he was delivering letters a month ago! if i had to give him a title... i'd say he's a Protector! he seems like the type! he always has his fellow adventurer's backs - i bet he has his hands full trying to cover everyone at once. outside of combat, he's still very helpful and does whatever is asked of him / needed. collecting firewood! pitching tents! stirring soup! getting Frank to remove a centipede from camp! in downtime he probably takes small bodyguarding gigs. he also is a minor healer - he took some sorta oath for some sorta god (or virtue) that he can't remember, but he has minor healing/cleansing powers. he's also good at sniffing out evil & dark magic! some would joke that he's the party's guard dog
Frank was raised in a monastery that believes in "using your body to fight for the greater good". this was not his job when they became old enough to actually Act on his training! nah they ran away in his mid teens because they wanted to fight things on his own terms. also they want to study bugs more than anything, which he does! for a long time! then they meet a certain princess, befriends her, and helps her run away. he only joins the Neighborhood because Julie wants to, and it's a good way to travel - read: study more arthropods - and earn coin. fighting is a bonus aspect Frank's role is... front line fighter, bookkeeper, and the Guy Who Knows Things! what monster are they dealing with? what are its strengths/weaknesses? Frank probably knows! can they afford a room or two at an Inn? Frank knows (no, they cannot)! who's throwing themself into direct mortal danger with gusto? it's Frank! no but really, Frank is like their resident nerd who can beat pretty much all of them in hand-to-hand. in downtime he probably has a garden purposefully full of plants that can be left alone for long periods of time... maybe they sell half the things grown for extra coin!
Julie, of course, was a princess! that was her whole job! it was incredibly boring and restricting, so she ran away with the help of a funny nerd. after that her whole life was just "avoid getting recognized while figuring out how to live in a world without the comforts/ease of castle life". i'd think she much prefers her new one! as a role, Julie joins Barn and Sally in the "entertainment category". while they entertain with humor/stories respectively, Julie goes straight for games and activities to fill the lull between action. keep the blood pumping, spirits high, and bonds Solid! camp games, road games, locked-in-a-dungeon games! in combat, she's on the front lines with her oversized sword. i think another fitting role would be "navigator" - she can ask plants for directions! technically Julie is a secret powerhouse. her flora magic is insanely powerful, though she prefers not to use it for several reasons
Poppy, i like to think, did indeed have a bakery. it was well-loved in her community, her staff were wonderful people, and it all burned down in a night due to raiders. luckily for Poppy and her town, Eddie was nearby and got on the case to get rid of their problem - maybe Poppy felt obligated to help in some shape or form, and Eddie wound up inspiring her to learn healing magic. She moved into the town that would become the not-yet-existing Neighborhood's HQ to try and restart her business, but it just wasn't the same, and she had gotten a taste of what it would be like to directly save/heal people Poppy is the party's cook, healer, and ultimate voice of caution! the most she'll do in battle is sprint into danger to drag an injured person to safety for healing - she doesn't have a combative bone in her body i'd guess! does she enjoy being in the Neighborhood? eh... it's stressful and terrifying, but she couldn't live with herself if she let them all brave the wild without an adequate healer OR an adequate cook. i like to think that she saw the state they were traveling in and went "oh no"
Howdy, of course, has his tavern! it's a popular hub for travelers, townsfolk, pretty much anyone and everyone. of course it helps that it's the only tavern in town! the only reason Barnaby managed to convince Howdy to join the Neighborhood on one of their jobs is because Howdy realized that he can widen his net & sell to new people On The Go. finally, a use for that magic backpack collecting dust in his room! Howdy got a taste for adventuring and joins the Neighborhood every once in a while, usually only for shorter jobs - he doesn't want to be away from his tavern for too long his roles are support, professional haggler, sarcastic commentary. he doesn't have a crumb of magic in him, but he's clever! he's learned how to make his own support items - including his fancy revolvers with magical crayonsbullets. Howdy rarely fights, choosing to watch over his pack, dole out items when needed, and listen to Barnaby's running commentary. when it is necessary that he join in on combat, he can usually clear the playing field in a matter of moments. he's skilled with both the revolvers and using his own items - he's a one man four armed army!
Home's job is "keep Wally upright and powered". they prefer to be an observer in all situations, even after their existence becomes common knowledge to the Neighborhood. the most Home will do is nudge Wally in the right direction or alert him to something important. Home's literally just hanging out behind Wally's eyes w/ a bucket of popcorn. unless something happens to his beloved little puppet, in which case Home becomes the biggest baddest bitch around and sends everyone else to the bench
tl;dr: Wally: support fighter, magic geiger counter, escape artist Barnaby: entertainer, backup Wormie: mascot Sally: storyteller, fighter, Manager Eddie: protector, minor healer, "paladin" Frank: bookkeeper, fighter, scholar Julie: activities director, navigator, fighter Poppy: cook, healer, overthinker Howdy: tavernkeeper, inventor, support Home: just keeping an eye out

The sound of kids talking and playing filled Shania's ears as she entered the three year old classroom. A few kids noticed her, running to give her hugs then went back to playing. She watched them for a moment then went to the connected boys restroom, peeking in.
"Hey, Ms. Martina. You buzzed for me?"
Martina stood from her kneel in front of the middle stall. "Yeah. Jaden has a stomach thing and no clothes."
Shania walked in to check on the child, giving him a soft smile. "Not feeling good, buddy?"
His voice came out weak and sad. "No ma'am."
"I'll get somebody to bring you some ginger ale and extra clothes while I call mommy and daddy. Sound good?" Giving him another pout, she turned to Martina. "If you want when he's cleaned up, you can bring him to the office with me. Tell me the last name again."
"Fatu."
Leaving the classroom, Shania power walked through the daycare back to her office and to her desk. After going through her software, she found his profile and dialed the first number.
"Good morning, Mrs. Fatu. This is Shania Taylor at Busy Bees. Jaden's not feeling well and he's had an accident so you're gonna have to come pick him up. Thank you. See you soon."
Shania left the same message three times with Jaden's mom, dad and uncle. She sighed softly realizing there was only one more number to call. Dialing the number, she put it on speaker so she could pull her curls away from her face.
"Hello?"
The deep voice startled her a bit as she honestly wasn't expecting anyone to answer.
"Helloooo," the voice sang out, "Somebody there?"
"Sorry, yes." She picked her phone up, moving it closer to her.  "Hey, I'm sorry to bother you. This is Shania Taylor from Busy Bees. Is this Joshua Fatu?"
"Uh, yeah, this Josh. Busy Bees?"
"Yes, Busy Bees. Your nephew, Jaden, is enrolled here."
"Oh shit, my bad," he said quickly, "I don't think I ever knew the name. He aight? He need something?"
She glanced at her office door when she heard a light knock, finding Martina standing in the doorway with Jaden in tow. She waved them in, pointing at the ottoman in front of her window.
"He's actually not feeling well and had an accident. He didn't have any clothes but I keep extras here so that's taken care of. You are gonna have to get him though."
Josh went silent for a moment, Shania could hear rustling around in his background.
"I don't mind at all but did you call Jon or Trinity first?"
"Yes sir," she said softly as she rolled her chair over to Jaden. She covered him with her throw blanket. "I called them and the other uncle they had listed, no one answered."
"Aight, I'll try to call them. I'm on the way though, Ms. Taylor."
"Thank you, see you soon."
The small monitor on her desk chimed and real time video popped up fifteen minutes later. Easing up from her spot, Shania checked the monitor then went to the front door of the center. She pushed the door open for him, a small smile on her face.
"Hey, Mr. Fatu." She watched him as he stepped inside. "Thank you for coming."
He looked around the foyer then at her, giving her a small nod. "Josh. Just Josh. I gotta get em from the class?"
"Nope, he's actually been in my office with me. Fell asleep not too long ago. He had me watching toy videos so the nap was a blessing in disguise for us both," she joked. "Since he is asleep, I can go ahead and get a copy of your license."
He frowned a little at that. "Why?"
"I make copies of everyone's licenses when they come to pick up one of my babies. State law. Keeps them safe. You can step into my office."
The two stood in silence while she made her copies. Josh grabbed Jaden's backpack, bag of soiled clothes and the small bottle of ginger ale beside him. He watched Shania move quickly around her office from the printer to the filling cabinet then to her desktop, lingering there for a few minutes. She wrote something down on her post it before peeling it off. Going to Josh, she held it out to him smiling. Slowly, he took it then looked at her.
"What's this?"
"Your family's code to get into the door so you don't have to wait to be let in whenever you come get him."
"Thank you," he stuffed it into his pocket then carefully picked up his sleeping nephew, "I need to sign em out?"
"I'll take care of it. You just take care of my buddy. When you talk to his parents, let them know he can return when he's been symptom free for 24 hours."
"Gotcha. You the boss lady huh?" He joked adjusting Jaden in his arms.
Her smile grew a little wider, her cheeks pushing her eyes into small slits. "I wouldn't say boss lady but I am the owner."
"Shit. Forreal?"
"Yes and we don't talk like that in Busy Bees, Josh." She chastised playfully.
He flashed her a quick smile, giving a peek of his gold fronts on his bottom teeth. "My bad, Ms. Taylor. Ima let them know though. Have a good day, don't work too hard."
Walking in front of him to the door, she propped the door open for him to exit. She watched him effortlessly unlock his truck, put Jaden's things in then Jaden into his seat. She called out to him before he could open the driver side.
"What's up?"
"Call me Shania."
His fronts made another appearance. "Yes ma'am."

the other woman: part two; mingyu x fem!reader
request: Hey do you write seventeen angst? Idk if you are still doing requests but I was hoping you can write a dramatic angst using either Joshua, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Mingyu, or Minghao, Vernon but two of them as leads. Idk why I’m a sucker for cliche stuff like cheating or betraying kind of stuff and a touch of sadness.
synopsis: you're married to wonwoo, but his parents desperately wants him to have a child - which you cannot have. he gives into his parents wishes and meets the other woman, whom he eventually agrees to marry as well. you're left heartbroken for a few years, seeing the man you love build a family that you had always wanted, but happiness is on the horizon as you meet someone new.
a/n: i decided to make part two slightly shorter, and later post a part three! my computer is slightly broken and it’s very hard to write. i still wanted to update the story, so you’re going to have to deal with slightly shorter and more parts :))
cw: slight bit of angst
genre: fluff, found family
word count: -
read part one first!

when you got home that evening, you didn't know whether you should cry or shout out of happiness. all of these random occurrences really made you believe in destiny. to celebrate, you took a hot shower and made yourself a gourmet dinner, in the form of your favorite instant ramen, only to sit down on the couch to watch some bad show on netflix. you were in the middle of a bite when you got a call. the caller-ID was unknown, but you already knew who it was. you quickly turned off the volume on the TV and put the bowl of noodles on the coffee table. "hello?", you answered. "hi, it's mingyu.. is this y/n?", he asked. "it is", you chuckled nervously, "hi." "i just put the girls to bed and... i just wanted to make sure you didn't give me a fake number.", he let out a small laugh. "mingyu, i'm really sorry about walking out on you.", you sighed. "no, i get it - you had your reasons.", he said, "it's not like i was being very nice by not letting you in on the fact that i have kids." "well, we didn't really spend much time talking...", you muttered, and succeeded in making mingyu laugh. "no, you're right. we should meet up again sometime." "we definitely should.", you bit your lower lip to contain your happiness, "maybe for a coffee or something? so that we could actually get to know each other." "that'd be fun.", he said, "i'll have to look in my schedule, i've been pretty busy lately." "oh, is that why your parents are picking up ji-u and ari?", you asked before thinking. "yeah..", he sighed, "i'd love to do it myself, but i almost never have the time. being a single dad is difficult." "i could imagine.", you hummed, "but if it helps, your daughters think the world of you." "thanks, y/n.", you could hear that he was smiling, "i'll try to pick them up more often... are you always there for pick up?" "don't try to change your schedule to come and see me while i'm at work.", you chuckled. "you caught me..", he said. "... i'm in charge of ji-u and ari's class on all days except mondays.", you said, "and i'll be there for their school play next week too." "shit, i forgot about the school play.", he groaned, "you know what? i'll make time for it - i just have to make a few calls..." "i'm sure they'll be very pleased if you show up.", you said with a smile, "those girls have worked extra hard, from what i've heard." you heard a young girl's voice in the background, crying. "sorry, y/n, ari's had a nightmare.", he sighed, "i'll see you soon." "don't forget about the play.", you said. "i won't."

the next few days mingyu stopped by the school every afternoon to pick up his kids. he only missed it once, letting his parents go instead of him. you were always happy to see him when he arrived, and his smart daughters had taken note of it.
everybody had left the classroom, except for ji-u and ari as usual. you were keeping the busy with painting, when you noticed an unusual detail in ji-u's painting. "what are you making, ji-u?", you asked her. "a family portrait.", she said. you looked at the drawing, consisting of four people; two children and a couple. the twins had never met their birth mom, mingyu told you that she had died after giving birth, but there was a woman on the painting. you started internally freaking out, what if ji-u could see the ghost of her mother? there had been many movies made about children seeing ghosts. what if they were actually real? "oh... could you tell me who's who?", you asked carefully. "that's dad.", she pointed at the painting, "that's me and ari, and that's you." "me?", your face went red, "why am i in your family portrait, ji-u?" "because dad talks about you all the time.", ari said, showing you a similar family portrait, "and when dad comes to pick us up he always stays and talks with you." "you girls are attentive...", you muttered. "what does that mean?", ji-u asked. before you could say anything, mingyu knocked on the already opened door. he came in his usual fancy attire - which reminded you that you had yet to ask him what he does for a living. "gotta go, mom.", ari said and got out of her chair to run towards her dad. you looked over at mingyu, hoping that he hadn't heard what she had said, but of course he had. he opened his mouth to say something, and then quickly shut it again. ji-u and ari were gathering their things, and putting away any painting materials they had used. watching as mingyu approached you, you stood up without a second thought. "that happens all the time...", you laughed nervously. in truth, it had happened maybe once or twice this year - coming out of the mouths of tired first grade students. your third grade students normally didn't call you mom. "i'm really sorry, i think it's because they see us together so much and-" "it's because you keep talking about her at home.", ari said matter-of-fact, "she's like our mom now. she takes care of us when you aren't here, like a mom." mingyu's face and ears went red, as you looked over at him with a small smirk. "you talk about me, sir?", you teased. "maybe sometimes- you know, before they have to go to school i tell them to not cause any incidents for you.", he stammered out. "last night you asked if ms. y/l/n was sick.", ji-u said. "because you looked a bit tired.", he added, "and i care about this school's staff- as anyone should." "but you never talk about mr. hong.", ari said, "you only ask about ms. y/l/n." "alright girls, i think it's time for us to go home now.", mingyu said and tried to get them out the door. "but i want to stay with mom.", ari grinned widely, seemingly enjoying making her dad embarrassed. "well, i see where she gets her smile from.", you muttered. "i won't go if she doesn't.", ari folded her arms across her chest, and ji-u followed shortly. "girls, this is really inappropriate-" "i could go get something to eat right now...", you said, "you girls like cake, right?" the twins happily shouted yes. you looked over at mingyu, asking him if it was okay without speaking any words. he took a deep breath, and then nodded. "then let's go get some cake, ladies.", he said, and finally got the girls out of the classroom.
that's how you ended up in a cute little café, close to the school. you were sitting in a booth, as the twins happily ate their cake in front of you. "i got you a cappuccino, i hope that's fine.", mingyu said as he sat down next to you, placing two cups on the table. "more than fine, thank you.", you smiled at him, "... i can't believe i agreed to do this." "thank you, though.", mingyu took a sip of his coffee, "when ari has put her mind on something, she can't let it go." "i think it's a nice trait", you said, "and i can't be mad at her for finally getting me that coffee date with you." mingyu let out a soft chuckle. when you looked up from your drink, you could see the two young girls in front of you staring. "i'm glad that you can be our mom, ms. y/l/n.", ji-u said, "the other lady dad brought home wasn't as nice as you." other lady? you put down your cup and looked at mingyu, asking for an explanation with your gaze. "i was dating someone before i met you. that's pretty much why i was at the cabin in the first place.", he said and turned to the girls, "it isn't nice to talk about people behind their backs, okay? and ms. y/l/n isn't your mom." "why not?", ari asked. "... because...", he was struggling to get an answer, so you decided to help. "you know how when you like someone you... decide to become girlfriend and boyfriend?", you said and they both nodded, "okay, well - for adults there's a stage before that where we... basically get to know each other better by going out to do things." "like this?", ari asked. "... no, you usually spend time together alone.", you said and looked over at mingyu, "i haven't gotten to spend enough time with your dad." "then i think he needs to hurry up.", ji-u sighed. when you glanced over at mingyu, his face was as red as a tomato. suddenly, you understood why ari found it so fun to embarrass him. "yeah, he should hurry up.", you said with an innocent-looking smile, "but i'll forgive him because he's been so busy." "could he take you out to dinner tomorrow night, then?", mingyu asked. you looked over at the twins, who eagerly nodded yes. "sure, he could.", you said.
it was saturday evening, you were getting ready for dinner with mingyu. for a while you had been solely focusing on your work and a few netflix shows, but now you would finally get yourself out there. you decided to wear an old red dress, that was hanging in the back of your closet - barely ever used. mingyu said he would take you somewhere fancy, so you assumed it was the appropriate attire. for once, during these traumatic few years, you felt pretty, and subsequently happy. it wasn't right to base your happiness on your beauty, it would only end in catastrophe - but was it so wrong to feel glee over getting ready and genuinely liking what the mirror showed you? after spending months contemplating whether your ex-husband picked someone else because they were just more beautiful, was it wrong to feel happy about feeling pretty? it could be debated whether it was good in the long run, or was only temporary happiness that could crash all too suddenly. even if it was bad for you, it felt nice and you were going to take advantage of it.
as you closed the apartment complex' door behind you, you heard someone saying your name. when you turned around, mingyu was standing at the end of the street. "good evening.", you said with a small, slightly shy, smile. "hi...", he was drinking you up with his eyes, "you look absolutely stunning." his words made you feel giddy, the kind of feeling you get when you watch a very romantic movie with a handsome lead. "i thought i would dress up a bit for our first date", you remarked and nervously added, "and you look handsome, by the way." he was dressed to the nines, as usual, in his suit and tie. "thank you.", he snickered, "my daughters said i looked like i was going to work." "well, i don't mind a man in uniform.", you teased. the two of you stood there, staring at each other. there was no awkwardness, only deep-rooted romantic tension. he took your hand in his. then, he suddenly pulled a face as if he remembered something important. "shit, there's a cab down the street waiting for us!", he laughed, "let's go."
.⋆。⋆☂˚。⋆。˚☽˚。⋆.
the evening started out with drinks. as you had expected, the restaurant he took you to was fancy. you had been to these kind of places before, but it had been a while - and you had never been to this particular place. mingyu ordered the two of you white wine, to which you got a salmon appetizer to start with. it looked too pretty to be eaten, and it almost hurt to cut into. "it's been so long since i haven't just eaten instant ramen in my pajamas for dinner...", you muttered, only loud enough for mingyu to hear. "then we should make the most of this.", he chuckled and brought up his wine glass towards you, "cheers?" you put down your utensils, hiding your smile by gently tucking your bottom lip between your teeth. as you brought up your glass to meet his, mingyu gently touched his glass to yours - creating a cute "ding" sound. he brought his as you did the same with yours. "i feel so fancy..", you muttered out with a giggle as you put down your glass. before mingyu could answer, the waiter came to take away the appetizer and bring the main course. your eyes widened at the sight of the food. you thanked the waiter, who then left the two of you to eat. mingyu was looking at you with a soft smile, and when you met his gaze he didn't look away. "do you want to go dancing after this?", he asked suddenly. "dancing?", you said, "if i can still walk after this meal, then yes. i'll go dancing with you." mingyu looked satisfied with your answer, and finally started eating.
you didn't back away from your promise, and after a fulfilling meal you decided to go dancing with him. to you, dancing was going to a club and getting out on the dance floor - but that's not entirely what mingyu meant. the cab was driving pretty far, to a part of the city where you hadn't been before. although, you did find it familiar. the buildings grew bigger and the architecture more detailed. you turned to mingyu, who was busy with looking at the buildings just like you. "i forgot to ask you where we're going.", you said, bringing him out of his trance. "just a small place that offers couple dancing.", he said, "i think you'll like it." couple dancing.. you hadn't danced like that since your wedding, and you definitely didn't remember how you did it. "i'm not sure i would be very good at it.", you said, suddenly very anxious. "it's alright.", he put his hand on top of yours, "i'm not very good either." "mingyu, that doesn't make me feel better.", you let out a small, nervous laugh, "if neither of us can dance, then why are we going?" "... because it gives me a reason to stay with you for a bit longer.", he admitted. you couldn't argue with that. leaving hm after dinner seemed all too soon, especially since you didn't know when his busy schedule would let you see him again. you turned your hand around, intertwining your fingers with his. "as long as you don't drop me or anything... i think i'll be fine, then.", you smiled.
the cab stopped outside a big, beautiful building, with music pouring out of every window. on a sign outside the door it said "foxtrot night". mingyu noticed how your eyes lingered on the sign. "do you know foxtrot?", he asked with a chuckle. "not one clue...", you said, "do you?" "a bit", he shrugged, "but not nearly enough." already being a bit drunk, all you could do was giggle at his statement - there wasn't the smallest bit of worry in your body anymore. your arm was secured around mingyu's, as he was leading you inside the building - having a quick word with one of the staff members to get you in a bit quicker. before you could question if that was the right thing to do, you saw the dancing hall. it was huge, decorated almost as detailed as a big european, catholic church. people were on the big floor, dancing, and others were sitting at the tables surrounding the area. the staff member mingyu had spoken briefly with was leading you to one of said tables, placed in a corner and far from any other table. "do you want anything to drink?", mingyu asked as he helped you sit down. "i don't think that i can dance if i drink any more than i already have.", you admitted. "a water, then?", he said with a small smile. "that'd be nice.", you nodded. you watched as he walked over the bar. the bartender looked confused, but quickly handed him two glasses of water before returning to his other customers.
after spending some time talking, and sobering up ever so slightly, you decided that it was time to try your best at dancing. just then, the song that was currently playing faded out, and frank sinatra started playing - what song you didn't know, you were all too focused on mingyu's hand on your waist. his hand was snug in yours as he lead you across the dance floor. he was right, he wasn't very good at this - but neither were you, so you couldn't really complain.
"i haven't danced in so long.", you said between laughter. "oh yeah? i couldn't tell.", mingyu teased, "you've only stepped on my feet four times already." "i said i was sorry.", you giggled, "and you're not a lot better, you almost made us crash into another couple before." "key word being almost, right?", he smiled. he looked down at you, and for a moment you got lost in his eyes. your hand gently moved on his shoulder - grazing his neck with your finger tips. mingyu squeezed your waist. for a moment, he was only a man - and not some big shot ceo, with the pressure of the company resting on his shoulders. his eyes took you back to those two weeks in the forest, a version of him that was much more laid back than what you had gotten used to after seeing him in a suit every day. in front of you was just a man with happiness and youth in his eyes, and nothing to lose. the song came to it's end, and he let go of you to bow down and gently kiss your hand. "thank you for the dance, sweetheart.", he said, his voice like honey. "you're very welcome.", you smiled.
the two of you went back to your table, resting your feet for the next song. mingyu had taken off his jacket, letting it hang on the back of the chair. his hair was slightly messy, from his hands running through it frequently, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows. your eyes couldn't leave the beautiful sight in front of you, and he was definitely aware of it. mingyu pulled his tie down ever so slightly, and unbuttoned the top button of his shirt. he leaned across the small table to push a few strands of hair away from your face. you felt your face heat up at his touch, and you were trying with every fiber of your being to not lean into his hand. "cute.", he said. "what?", you asked. "you're cute.", he leaned his elbow against the table and looked at you with loving eyes, "you were really confident back at the cottage, but now you get so flustered." you scoffed at his comment, despite knowing that it was kind of true. when you had met him the first time around, you had been in a bad place - with the mentality of having nothing to lose. now you actually wanted to make this work, and found yourself being extra careful about everything. "well, it's been a while since then.", you said as an excuse, "maybe i've just changed." "i don't think so", he smiled, "but i'll let you believe it, since i really like this side of you." the next song started playing, and before you could respond to his comment, mingyu was dragging you back out to the dance floor.
after the last song, you were getting very tired. without a second thought, mingyu offered to take you home. as you got outside, he was about to call a cab, but you stopped him. "could we just walk for a bit?", you asked, "i think i'm in need for some fresh air." that was a lie. in reality, you just wanted to find another excuse to spend a bit more time with him. mingyu gladly accepted anyway, and the two of you started to walk in the direction of your apartment. the plan was to walk as far as your legs could take you, and take a cab when it started getting a bit too much.
the stars were bright in this side of town, seeing as it was closer to the suburbs than the city. the lack of pollution also brought you fresh air. mingyu grabbed your hand, and suddenly the light from the street lamps and the dark blue sky started blending together in a beautiful waltz. you looked over at him. his hair was still messy, and his jacket was still off, hanging on his arm. you couldn't understand how he wasn't freezing to death, as you were. "are you cold?", he asked, seemingly reading your mind. "a little.", you responded. with a quick motion, he wrapped his jacket around your shoulders and went back to holding your hand. with your free hand, you pulled the jacket tighter around you - smiling as you felt his scent engulfing you. when you looked back up at mingyu, he was smiling. his golden skin seemed to glow in the light of the street lamps, and his eyes sparkled as if the stars had somehow fallen in there. when he looked down at you, you didn't avert your gaze. instead you wrapped your arm around his, letting go of his hand in order to close the proximity between you. his eyes never left yours, and as you were about to tell him just how happy you were that you had found him again, someone interrupted. "is that you mingyu?" you looked over to the source of the voice, seeing wonwoo. he was standing under the street light, just a few feet in front oof you. next to him stood his wife, holding her pregnant belly lovingly. you watched as mingyu let go of you, walking up to the man in front of you, and giving him a handshake. you were frozen in your place, and when wonwoo finally looked at you, you wanted to scream. he looked the same as he did when you had met him in the metro last week. "y/n?", he asked. you gave him a half-assed smile, and a greeting to him and his wife. mingyu looked back at you, then at wonwoo, and you could see the realization hit him. "oh wait, you're the mingyu that y/n's seeing?", wonwoo asked with a surprised smile, "what a small world, huh?" you had forgotten that you had lied to wonwoo that day in the metro, and now everything around you was crashing. luckily, mingyu didn't comment on it. you took a better look at wonwoo, noticing his daughter in his arms. she was fast asleep, as wonwoo held her close to his chest. you suddenly remembered, a long time ago, that wonwoo had told you of a kim mingyu - the ceo of a rivalling company. the fact that you hadn't puzzled it together yet was embarrassing. you also realized why the neighborhood was so familiar. the jeon family didn't post many pictures of their neighborhood at night, but you should've realized anyway. you watched as the two men spoke with each other, never really listening and wishing that you could melt into the concrete ground below you.
as they left you muttered out a weak good-bye. they got into wonwoo's car and drove off to the suburbs near by. you were left standing there, looking after a car that wasn't even visible any more. mingyu wrapped his arms around your shoulders, hugging you from behind, and you carefully leaned into him. "so that's the guy?", he muttered. "it is.", you said, "isn't she beautiful?" "who? gyeong-hui?" "no.. the baby.", you felt your eyes tearing up, "even when she was sleeping, she looked like a bundle of joy." mingyu was quiet, but he hugged you a bit closer to his chest. you wiped away a tear from your cheek before it could fall to the ground. you wanted to hate that child, along with gyeong-hui, but you couldn't. gyeong-hui seemed to be kind, the type of woman that wonwoo's family would definitely approve of, and the child was... well, you couldn't bring yourself to hate a child in the first place. moreover, the way that wonwoo held the baby so protectively made you think of the family you really wanted. you were jealous, but more so confused - how could you still feel love for him? the years you spent together obviously can't just disappear from your memory, but did they have to be so persistent? "i hope they're happy.", you got out of his grip, "i'm really sorry mingyu, but could you call that cab now?" "of course, of course.", mingyu got his phone out of the pocket of his trousers. you wanted to ask him about his relationship to wonwoo, but it wasn't the right time to do so. instead, you gathered yourself and got ready to pretend like nothing happened. mingyu put his phone back in his pocket. "they'll be here shortly.", he said, "do you want to talk about... what happened?" "hm? what happened?", it didn't cross your mind that he might want to hear about it, "it's alright, nothing happened." mingyu grabbed your hands in his, gently tracing small figures on the back of your hand with one of his thumbs. you looked up at him, meeting his gaze. he looked a bit worried, but put on a warm smile. "it's not fun meeting someone from the past. especially if they treated you poorly.", he said, "if you don't want to talk about it, i don't mind, but you should know that i'm really sorry for putting you in that situation. had i known i wouldn't-" "it's alright, mingyu.", you said with a reassuring smile, "you didn't know." the two of you stood there, still holding each others hands. you felt yourself relax again, but you hadn't even realized that you were tense in the first place. after a moment of nothing but silence and warm smiles, mingyu spoke again. "so do you mind telling me why jeon wonwoo seems to know about us?". he grinned. "i told him i was seeing someone new when i met him at the metro a week or so ago.", you admitted with a sigh, "i don't know why i said your name... i'm sorry." "it's alright, i don't mind him thinking that.", he said, "and if you want me to never mention it again, i won't." you gave him a a small, crooked, smile - you probably looked like a mess by now but, by the look in mingyu's eyes, he didn't seem to mind. he took away one of his hands from yours, and reached for your face, gently cupping your cheek.
by the time you got home that night, you had partially forgotten about wonwoo. mingyu made sure to get you happy and smiling brightly again, even if it was just for a short cab ride. as you left the car, you felt like the sun was perched on your shoulders - warmth spreading through your body, and light emitting from your smile. "goodnight, sweetheart.", mingyu said from inside the cab. you were leaning against the open door. he had tried to get outside the car to say goodbye, but you assured him that it wasn't necessary. as you handed him his jacket, he put his hand on yours and gently tugged at you to lean further down. "would it be very inappropriate of me to kiss you right now?", he asked quietly, "because i would really like to, but only if you feel-" you broke the distance, and before he could say another word kissed him quickly. when you leaned back up mingyu's eyes were still closed. "thank you for tonight.", you said, "i really needed a night out." "anything for you.", he said without thinking, only realizing the meaning of the words after he spoke them. he cleared his throat and turned away from you to hide his flustered face. the cab driver asked if he was going to have to wait there all night, in a half-joking manner, and mingyu quickly apologized. "goodnight, mingyu.", you said with a small, teasing grin. "i'll see you soon.", he answered.

you defend eddie
today was cleaning day.
after being together for six months, you had begun staying at eddie's at least three to four nights a week, when you weren't having sleepovers with robin or nancy.
once wayne had his eyes set on a house, there was no changing his mind. he gave eddie the trailer as long as he could continue to pay rent, it was all his.
eddie wouldn't describe himself and clean, nor would he say he's a disaster, probably somewhere in between. he'd been to your parents house, whom you were still technically living with as you were in college, and your room was always spectacularly clean and organized. the most you stayed at his trailer, the more embarrassed he was since it was never as clean as your room.
he'd started cleaning a few hours after you'd gone to work at your waitressing job and kissed him goodbye. you promised to see him after, since the gang was going to come over and hang out and you would of course be staying the night.
the kids had come to help, or more dustin. he took any chance he was given to come around eddie's-- he was his biggest fan. lucas was sat on the couch, the others outside. "what the hell even is this, eddie?" dustin pulled a dirty sock from under the couch in the living area, sniffing it. "holy shit, i'm gonna throw up-"
"don't be a wimp, henderson. y/n's gonna be back from work in an hour." eddie rolled his eyes, laughing to himself at dustin's discomfort as he loaded the dishes from the sink into the dishwasher in the kitchen. "fluff those pillows, would ya, sinclair?"
sinclair sent eddie a look from the couch, "fluff the pillows?"
"yeah, you know, it's when you-" he puts his hands, demonstrating in the air. "i don't know man, it's a thing. fluff-" he's cut off abruptly, the front door of the trailer squeaking as it was hung open. "hey! careful with the door, robin. don't break my door-"
robin ignored him, stepping inside quickly, yelling and hollering in the background. "it's y/n! help!" eddie furrowed his eyebrows, she wasn't due back for another hour. but by the yelling of a very familiar voice, he knew she'd gotten off early. he dried his hands on his jeans, running out the door with dustin and lucas trailing behind to see what was going on.
"say it again! say it a-fucking-gain!" you threatened, pushing steve off your arms as he tried to keep you from throwing another punch. "that's what i thought!" there was three guys facing you, one with black, long hair and the other was jason carver, his hand feeling over where you punched him.
eddie's eyes widened, running down the steps of the porch toward you. "your boyfriend is a murderer." jason practically spits, and in that moment, all you can see is red. pure red. you finally shove steve away and haul ass to jason, slapping him across the face.
"shut the fuck up, or i swear to god, carver, i'll-" he pushes you hard until you fall to the ground. which pisses you off even more. you help yourself to your feet, launching at him when eddie grabs you from behind, tightening his arms around your waist. "get the fuck off me!" you yell, scrambling to escape his grasp.
"hey, hey!" his voice reaches your ears and your body relaxes, no longer shoving at him. "breathe." he glares at harrington, who tells jason and his friend to fuck off. you reach your arm above your head, flipping the boys off as they scramble out of the yard, their eyes widening when they see eddie. "what's gotten into you?" everyone stares at you, catching their breath once you've calmed down.
you turn around in his embrace, meeting his eyes. "they were berating you, eds! coming to this part of town to call you a murderer?" you gasped, shaking your head. "you're not a fucking murderer!" you look back at the boys running off, screaming, "i'll show you a fucking murderer!"
"y/n, baby, look at me. cut it out." he warns, his hand coming up and ghosting his thumb over your cut lip. "they hit you?"
you shrugged, "i threw the first punch." he shoots you another look. "i'm going to defend you. you can't tell me not to." eddie knew very well you had a temper. you were never violent or abusive to him, but you were stubborn and protective of the people you loved.
"alright, then." he sighed, looking up at everyone. "meet back in an hour, i've got to clean up y/n here." he glances back down at you once steve and nancy start rounding up the troops, telling them they'll head to the wheeler house for an hour. "come on, trouble." he pulls at your hand, leading you inside the trailer.
immediately, you felt guilty. "i'm sorry." you sighed, rubbing your hands over your face. "i don't know what happened, but i know that i embarrassed you." he leads you to the couch, and you sit. "i'll control it, i just hate-" surprising you, he shuts you up with a soft kiss.
pulling away, he looks at you with a small grin. "embarrassed? pretty girl-" he grabs a wash cloth, wetting it under the kitchen sink before retreating back to you. "i couldn't say it in front of the others because they were traumatized, but that was fucking bad ass."
"really?" you ask, wincing as he brushes the wash cloth over your bleeding lip.
he nods eagerly, sitting on his knees on the carpet floor before you. "just maybe don't threaten to commit first degree murder next time, cupcake?"
"good plan." you giggle. "i'm always on the other end of this, cleaning yo up after a fight. it's kind of exhilarating."
he chuckles to himself, shaking his head at you. "alright, slow down, cowgirl. no more fights. at least till this lip heals."
"it's a tiny cut!"
"you're a tiny person." he rebuttals, raising an eyebrow.
you laugh again, looking around the trailer. "you cleaned?" he nods, rolling his eyes at your excitement. "you didn't have to clean!" all the anger from a few minutes ago seemed to just wash away with the smell of air freshener.
"i wanted to. you know, this is kinda your place, too. want you comfortable and all that." he shrugged sheepishly, looking down at the carpet.
your heart melts at his admission. "you're perfect." you cup his cheeks in your hands, leaning in to press a kiss to his lips.
------------------------------------------
"what the frick? no way!" dustin nearly throws the game board to the floor, huffing in annoyance. "you can't do that!" he exclaims at mike, furrowing his eyebrows.
"can, too!"
"can not!"
"can-" the boys quiet down when dustin lifts his eyes from mike to you, who'd just woken up from a nap. "oh, hey." mike waves over to you.
you walk over slowly, deciding to sit on eddie's lap in the chair he was sat on. "hi,"
"well, would you look at fuckin' rocky over here." steve jokes, laughter erupting from everyone in the room and even pulling a smile from you.
eddie rubs your side, "yeah, how ya feeling', street fighter?" you leaned your head on his shoulder.
"perfect."

You Broke Me First
part 19
Tumblr media
"How do you not remember when this took the internet by storm?" Zoe exclaimed, showing Cillian the picture of infamous "is it gold and white or is it blue and black" dress.
"Because I'm not on the internet, and thank God, because it's clearly blue and black" he said, grabbing the phone out of her hand.
"It's gold and white, and you need an eye exam" Zoe replied, laughing
Zoe and Cillian haven't left the bed. They were laying around, with the TV playing softly in the background while they talked and laughed about everything, bed sheet barely covering their naked bodies with kisses and touches in between. Zoe never felt more vulnerable, yet never felt more safe with someone before. She didn't know that Cillian felt the same way. He didn't want to call her a distraction, because she was far from that, but he was nice to be able to enjoy the day for once with someone.
"That better not be a joke about my age" Cillian said, grabbing her by her torso and pulling her into him, peppering her neck with kisses and tickling her.
"Hey, if the orthopedic shoe fits..." Zoe shot back.
"HEY" Cillian exclaimed, pulling his face away from her neck, "Those shoes are comfy"
Zoe broke out laughing and kissed him. She smiled in the kiss, and when she pulled away she kept her forehead against his. She stared in his eyes and felt him sigh.
"Whatcha thinkin' about, Cill?" She whispered.
"About how much I don't want to get up and leave. But I left Scout. and If i'm staying here for a few days I gotta pack" Cillian replied.
"Scout already being a cock block," Zoe joked, shaking her head.
"yea, i'll make sure he knows that ends tonight" He said, giving her a quick peck and pulling away, sitting up and looking for his clothes. Zoe sat up as well and watched him stand up and pull on his underwear and pants. She grabbed her phone from the bedside table, and saw 3 missed calls from her mom as well as a text message.
If you don't answer me tonight i'm calling the police for a welfare check
Zoe rolled her eyes. "God this woman will be the death of me," She groaned.
"who?"
"My mother"
"Oh stop, she's probably not that bad. That's your mom. Be nice"
"Cill, you have no idea. This woman is crazy." As she finished her sentence, the phone rang again, it was her.
"See?? she's calling me again!"
"So answer her, jeez"
"you know what, I will, and i'll put her on speakerphone just so you can hear how much of a nutjob she is"
Zoe pressed accept and hit speaker on her phone.
"Hi ma"
"You know, really, am I that much of a horrible mother that you don't want to speak to me?" Zoe's mom started. "You never call, you never text, you never answer..."
Zoe looked up at Cillian, rolling her eyes. He dramatically shook his finger at her, mouthing "bad girl" silently.
"I've been busy, I'm sorry. But calling the police is a bit dramatic" Zoe replied.
"Well how do I know you're not dead? You live in that town full of crazies -"
"Well I'm not, and you got me on the phone, so what's up mom?" Zoe interrupted. She knew this could be a 4 hour phone call if she let her keep going.
"Bunny, did you book your plane ticket yet? The party is this weekend, please don't tell me you're not coming"
Shit. Zoe looked at Cillian, who raised one eyebrow at her.
"No, mom, i'm coming. I wouldn't miss it. I'm buying my ticket tomorrow"
Zoe had been putting money aside for the plane ticket. But to be honest, she had assumed the fares would go down, and they haven't yet. She would have to bite the bullet and buy them now, because they showed no signs of coming down.
"Perfect. Send me the flight info when you do. Is your boyfriend coming? Please say yes"
Shit.
She looked at Cillian, who's eyebrow was still raised, now nodding his head.
Zoe went wide eyed and shook her head.
They had about 15 seconds of this silent, dramatic head nodding/shaking war, until Zoe's mom interrupted them.
"Bunny? you there?"
"Yea, yea i'm here" Zoe said, sighing. "I'll see. he needs to check his schedule."
"Ok. Make sure you fly into Newark, you know how I hate all the other airports, you know I flew into Laguardia once-"
"Hey mom, not to cut this short but I gotta shower and head to bed, but I'll send you the flight info as soon as I have it, I promise, okay?"
"Oh, okay Bunny. I'll let you go. I love you and I can't wait to see you."
"I love you too, bye mom" Zoe said, quickly hanging up and throwing her phone on the bed.
Well If I knew that was where the conversation was going, I wouldn't of put it on speakerphone, she thought.
"Oh yea, she's the worst" Cillian said dramatically.
"Oh shut up, you got her on a good day" Zoe replied. Cillian got up, now fully dressed, and headed out of the room into the hallway to get his shoes. "Let's burn her at the stake" He yelled back.
Zoe rolled her eyes but couldn't hold back a laugh. She threw on a baggy T shirt and followed him into the living room, leaning against the door way watching him put his shoes on. He stood up and walked towards her.
"What's this weekend?" He said, putting his hands on her hips.
"My niece's birthday party" She said, wrapping her arms around his torso. Cillian looked towards the wall Zoe had of photos, zoning in on the phone of her and her niece. "That little cutie?" He asked. Zoe nodded, smiling.
"She seems like she'd be pretty disappointed if you missed her birthday" He said, turning back to her.
"I know, I know. I'm buying the ticket tomorrow"
Cillian squinted his eyes. "only one?"
"Cillian, I'm serious. You don't need to come," Zoe started.
"But I want to." He interrupted. Zoe sighed.
"I don't know. We'll see. Let me get back to you tomorrow night, okay? My mom is a lot."
Cillian smiled, and kissed her nose. "you stress too much" He whispered, then moving to buy his face in her neck. "So Bunny....." He started.
Zoe rolled her eyes. "Just an old nickname. From when I was a kid. Only a couple people call me that."
Cillian pulled away to smile at her. "It's cute." He leaned in and kissed her.
After what felt like forever, they finally pulled away from each other.
"Okay, I don't want to, but I gotta go. Scout is probably bursting since he hasn't been outside in hours" Cillian said, letting go of her and walking towards the door.
"Do you think you're gonna come by tomorrow?" Zoe asked.
"I mean yea.. I'm going home and getting a bag and will probably be here by noon if that's okay"
Zoe went into the kitchen where she hid the spare key, handing it to him. "Sure. make yourself at home, we'll figure it out." Cillian smiled, taking the key and kissing her on the cheek.
"I'll text you when I get home, and i'll see you tomorrow." He said, before reluctantly opening the front door. Zoe smiled at him. "See ya, Cill."
"See ya, Zo'"
Zoe locked the door behind him, sighing. She made her way back to her bedroom and picked up her clothes and placed them in the hamper. She washed her face and brushed her teeth, and headed back to bed; bringing the sheets as close as possible to her nose as they smelled like Cillian. She couldn't get enough.
After about 20 minutes of trying to find something on TV, her phone went off. It was Cillian.
Just got in from walking Scout. About to take a shower and start packing. I miss you already.
Zoe smiled, opening the message to reply.
I miss you too, but the sooner you go to sleep the sooner tomorrow comes, then you can be here all the time
That's something Zoe's father used to tell her on Christmas eve, or whenever she was too excited to sleep over something. The sooner you sleep, the sooner tomorrow comes.
Zoe took that advice through her adult years, but used it for bad days. The sooner you went to sleep, the sooner the bad day would be over and a new day could start.
Zoe's phone went off again, indicating Cillian had replied.
Rather be sleeping with you.
Zoe blushed. Her phone went off again.
Oh, by the way, send these to your mom.
Zoe sat up instantly. What did he do?
the message came through and she was sick to her stomach.
It was flight details.
We fly out Friday. i'll see you tomorrow, Bunny. x

hey y'all so i wasn't initially planning on talking about what rashad posted earlier today bc it's literally all bullshit, but i might as well! i’m not actually tripping over anything that’s going on. if anything, i’ve been laughing my ass off all day at this foolishness.
this is gna be long as hell, so don't even grab popcorn, i suggest a five course meal.
for some background, rashad became mutuals w this girl. right off bat, he’s making hella race jokes ab this girl being white. i b doing the same, but with my FRIENDS. people i am CLOSE WITH. and i don’t over do it because that’s lame and annoying. anyway, she eventually stated that she was uncomfortable and rashad blamed his behavior on the fact that he was on pain meds. she eventually blocked him and told one of her mutuals, and to rashad, that’s her “spreading rumors” about him. he did the most on his page and in ppls inboxes crying and complaining, saying he was gna eat glass and shit.
so now let’s look at his fuckass post:
Tumblr media
number one, how can a rumor be started about you if nobody.. knows you? like, you are not a celebrity. nobody talks about you. and nobody was talking about you “being on drugs” other than the girl you made uncomfortable and her two mutuals. i know you send yourself anons too. you make it seems like anyone actually cares about your “hot takes” for some strange reason. don’t even try to deny it, bc there’s no way you’re getting more anon msgs than my friends with larger platforms than yours.
you’re also messier than a mf, sending your own mutuals anon msgs. me and lia know you were the one sending her anon msgs bc she blocked you, and you know it too! talking ab how her username is “corny” then reblogging the posts of her clocking your ass??? acting like it wasn’t YOU.
you tried to turn two writers who were already arguing against each other even more. we sat there and defended your ass even though you were the anon the entireeee time. you made a post saying “war has begun” to try and get us to attack bree’s friend. your weird ass stayed in that girl’s inbox after i told you to block her instead of doing the most. you’re lame and you’re bored.
Tumblr media
it doesn't matter if you tagged her or not, you still said it. sliding into sb's inbox and telling 'em you're going to eat glass bc you made someone else uncomfortable is ABSURD. it doesn't matter if it isn't my drama, if i see bs ima say something, and there isn't a thing in the world you can do about it. your "rants" are a form of guilt tripping/manipulation. you're trying to victimize yourself and make us feel bad for you. well, we do not! i checked you once on discord. you said thank you. you said you were going to make an apology, but in that same “apology”, tried to justify your actions. i clocked that and unmutualed you. you then went to lia talking ab some "tell ash i said thanks for checking me" nd now you switched up. your thanks was revoked. all of a sudden, you're the victim again. all of a sudden, i’m ableist?? okayyyy niggaaaaaa 👎 boooo
Tumblr media
you say you're "blocking me for your safety" when i wasn't even planning on talking ab your lame ass again. i won't baby you about your behavior because you're not a goddamn baby! and yes, you CANNOT be the victim every time. you bitch and whine on your page when you get into it with somebody, and unless we're defending you, you don't want us getting involved! it doesn't work like that. nobody else was calling you out, so me n my girls did.
Tumblr media
idk why my name stays steady coming out of your mouth. my "daily activities" that i "broadcast" are what i ate for lunch/dinner and complaining about school. you run your mouth about all sorts of mess. you put every aspect of your life on your blog. we are not the same, so don't even try to make it seem that way. the people on my blog that i don't talk to outside of tumblr don't know everything about me. you cry in people's inboxes unwarranted and say explicit shit with tw's in your TAGS. i'll say what we're all thinking, NOBODY IS TRYNA SEE ALL THAT!!! coming from someone who struggles with mental health, venting on tumblr will not do anything for you. these people are not licensed professionals. invest in a diary, don't you have a boyfriend to vent to?
Tumblr media
you are quite literally the only one looking for drama. we never defended that girl bc we don't know her.. we know you though. and you were venting about catty, but i never said ALWAYS, so don't lie in my face like i'm stupid bc i'm not. ion know what you thought you were doing with the last part, but god bless.
Tumblr media
i am a good person my nigga, i don't need confirmation! i know who i am. if you're debating suicide because you're confused about something, you just need to get off the mf internet bro. it’s never that serious. you're not gna sit here and tell me you were debating suicide bc me n my girls put you in your place. you made your own mental worse by refusing to take accountability.
he also made an edit saying he has nowhere else to go… if you have nowhere else to go, then i'd be happy to buy you a damn journal so you can write in there and leave the rest of us the hell alone. and there isn't shit to be sorry about bc you're not putting jack shit on me, all of it is on you. you wna be everything but wrong. 🚶‍♀️should’ve just kept it cute and kept it quiet.
allat being said, good riddance, r*shad. leave me and everybody else alone! and if you fw him, then there’s the door 👉🚪 good riddance to you too.

Tumblr media
the arcane; part one
pairing: kenny mccormick/mysterion x reader
cw: slight mention of eating disorder
————————————————————————
an expired bird lays on the sidewalk next to me. when i see it's cold, dead feathers stuck to the icy ground i'm reminded of a deceased birds meaning.
bad luck.
which is perfect, because it's my first day back at school, and what better to start it off than with a dead bird?
i wait at the end of a short line for the bus. people around me discuss class schedules and how excited they are to be seniors. my eyes are affixed to my feet, but my ears are picking up every word said in my radius.
a lot of "how was your summer?" and "what's your lunch block?"
a broad shoulder aggressively bumps into me from behind, pushing past me in line.
"hey! fat ass, you can't just skip ahead in line-" wendy testeburger, who was only nice for the show of it, called out to the guy who cut me in line.
i back up a bit to let him in, not really giving a shit.
"see, they don't mind." the boy, who's name is eric cartman, grins at an angry wendy, before she huffs and turns back toward her friends.
eric has always been a dick to me. especially since the only person i actually talk to at school is his ex, heidi turner. she was like me, quiet and sticks to the background.
she didn't used to be, though.
heidi was a cheerleader, loved by everyone, and then she got ruined by eric's manipulative personality. and since i have a soul, i took her in after all the other girls rejected her.
so now, she's my best friend. well, my only friend. which is okay with me. i enjoy my life, my quiet life.
"hey-" a blunt voice speaks from behind me.
i look up to see the bus parked and a large gap in the line where i wasn't paying attention. i quickly scramble onto the bus, finding the first empty seat. my hood is thrown over my hair, and i tightly pull the strings to hide my face.
that's so fucking embarrassing.
i'll be thinking about that all day now.
once the bus doors close, i realize i got away with sitting alone. a sigh escapes my lips as the bus starts to move.
just when it starts to move, though, it stops. confused heads poke up from behind the bus seats, as an out of breath kenny mccormick makes his way on. he's wearing his usual thick orange hoodie.
i look at the empty spot next to me, and my heart starts to speed up. there's no other seats on the bus, so he'll have to sit here.
i glance up over the seat, slumped against the cold window. kenny's eyes meet mine for a split second and i quickly look away.
"guess i'm sitting here." he plops down next to me, and i pull on my drawstrings tighter. kenny, though, has his legs stretched out in the middle of the walkway, talking to his friends about why he was late.
my breathing steadies itself as the bus starts to move again. kenny sits far enough away that it didn't feel like i was sitting with him at all. which i appreciate.
after a minute of overthinking, i decide to start doing what i do best. listening to other people.
"i don't know what's wrong with it, it just stopped going."
"isn't it kind of ironic how kenny's the poorest out of all of us but he's the only one with a vehicle?"
"shutup, cartman." kenny laughed. "my dad just fixed it up for me."
"yeah, besides, i've got a car." kyle broflovski butt in, his voice laced with its usual annoyance.
"it's your dads car, jew." cartman bit back.
"relax, guys. and kyle, it's okay to admit i'm cooler than you." kenny says with a shit eating grin.
"body count doesn't equal popularity, ken." kyle shakes his head.
"no, but if it did i would be the coolest." kenny laughs.
i smile a little, a small chuckle coming from my throat. as soon as the sound escapes my mouth, i cover it. its too late, however, and kenny's head turns to me.
"something funny?" he has the same stupid smile on his face.
"sorry- i didn't mean-" i can't talk. i'm way too uncomfortable with the position i put myself in.
"shut up, they don't think you're funny." eric crosses his arms at him. i just turn my face back to the window, my eyes closing tightly.
i'm so tired of being treated like an object.
the bus slows down and people start to stand up in their seats, despite the bus driver's yelling. i slip my headphones on and get up with the rest of the crowd.
behind me a kid is pushing onto my back. i have to keep my breathing calm so i don't freak out. my shoulders are tense as i waddle down the isle, out the bus door.
"y/n!" heidi calls in her soft voice.
i give her a small smile and pause my music. "hey, heidi."
"you ready for a new year?" she asks as i walk with her to our shared first class, a two-hour block of photography.
"i thought i was. but i've already embarrassed myself so much today." i think back to the bus ride. "i was sitting close to your dumb ex boyfriend."
"it'll be okay, at least we get to see miss windsor again!" she pokes my side, earning herself a tiny smile from me.
miss windsor is like a second mom to me. as my photography instructor for the last four years, we got close. i'm not one to brag, but im her favorite. she always shows my photos as examples, and she lets me and heidi stay in her room during our lunch block.
i nod as i think about seeing ms. windsor.
"you're right, heidi."
we get to the art room doors, and i breathe in the strong paint scent. this room always made me feel comfortable. at home. like a second bedroom.
heidi and i take a table in the back of the studio, the same table we'd sit at every other year. not that many of the students paid much attention to us, even the art students.
"why, it's my two favorite students!" miss windsor comes up to the table, greeting me and heidi.
"hi, miss windsor." i smile before pulling out my sketchbook.
"you think of a theme for your last opening project?" she plainly glances over at my sketchbook, which is just filled with picture concepts.
every year, windsor does an opening project where you basically do a mini portfolio on one subject or theme. with each picture you have to write a story or explain what's happening, kind of like journaling.
windsor always gave me good grades on the opening project, last year i did my project on the social construction of food and people's bodies. it was my favorite project i've ever done, although it did hit a little close to home.
"i'm not sure." i sigh. usually i have my project outline done by the first day, but i was really racking my brain on what to write about.
"that's okay." windsor gave a quick smile. "you always think of something."
several other students come through the doors, taking tables around ours. the late bell rings and i do my yearly study around at the class.
its a small class, ten people to be exact. just the way i like it. more people means more attention on me.
"okay guys, welcome back for another great year!" windsor starts, pulling up a slideshow to present the project idea.
i listen and doodle more in my sketchbook. heidi leans into me, looking down at my pencil.
"who's that?" she points to a small figure i had drawn a couple days prior.
"oh. it's that mysterio guy."
"mysterion?" heidi laughs.
"yeah. i saw him a couple days ago when i was at the police station."
"what were you doing at the police station?"
"waiting for my dad." i mutter. my dad’s a night traffic cop, working for the south park police department.
that night i was waiting for him to finish up on some paperwork, sitting in the lobby of the station. i was sketching when a tall figure walked past in a dark purple hood.
i couldn't help but draw him as he spoke to the police chief about something. i couldn't be bothered to listen to that conversation.
"wow i can't believe you saw him." heidi continues.
"why?" i stop my sketching and turn toward her. miss windsor continues to talk in the background.
"well.. you know. he's a mysterious hero." she swoons.
"i don't really see the appeal." i turn back to my book, looking at the picture of the mystery man in the corner.
i lay my head in my hands and decide to listen to windsor for the rest of her lecture. same as every other year.
"any questions guys?" she shuts off the projector and looks out to all ten of us. the room is quiet and for a second i think i can hear jimmy valmer's breathing.
"okay." she smiles awkwardly. "so today will be a brainstorming day.. try to talk to some people you don't know, they could give you ideas."
when she says that, her eyes are on me. as much as i love windsor, i want to claw her eyes out after that statement. little dramatic, but that's just how it goes.
i wait for the rest of the class to begin talking before i turn to heidi.
"what are you doing yours on?" i assume she already knows, since we usually brainstorm together.
"we've got a family of bunnies living in our yard at home. i think i'm gonna make them my subject." heidi always did her projects on animals. she has a love for animals unlike anyone else i've seen, i really admire her for it.
"that's perfect for you." i send her a smile.
"miss windsor?" my smile falls when the principal stands in the doorway, holding the collar of a frustrated kenny mccormick.
i watch as windsor's head perks up and she scurries her way to the door. i can't quite hear what they're talking about, but i can tell it's serious.
"alright, kenneth sit wherever you'd like." windsor speaks softly to the teen. since it was such a small class, i didn't feel worried at all that he'd try and sit with me and heidi.
however, as soon as the thought entered my mind, he was walking closer towards us. the same aching feeling from earlier hits me hard as he draws closer.
my eyes shoot straight down to my sketchbook, hoping that if i don't make accidental eye contact he won't notice me.
"mind if i sit here, ladies?" his voice is rough and slow, and more mature than most of the other guys at school.
"sure, kenny." heidi smiles at him and gestures to the seat across from me.
"thanks, heidi. and uh.. is that alright with you?" i feel him look at me.
i don't move my head, but instead glance up through my eyelashes.
"yeah, that's fine." i manage to get out.
he smiles genially, pulling out the chair and slumping down in it. my eyes are back on my paper within seconds, and my desire for conversation leaves my mind.
"so what's this project we're doin?" kenny leans his head in, his arms stretch across the table. he's not going to leave us alone.
"how did you get into this class anyway? this is photo four." heidi questions, but her tone is still sweet. even when heidi is condescending she's a sweetheart.
"got in a dumb argument with my first hour teacher." kenny shakes his head before pulling out a notebook.
"what's that you're doin?" he gestures to my sketches.
"um-" i start with wide eyes. "just some concept sketches of pictures i might take." i cover some of the page with my oversized hoodie sleeve.
"yeah! they're really talented-" heidi points to the mysterion sketch. my hands instinctively fly over the drawing.
"woah, you like mysterion?" kenny raised his eyebrows at me.
"no!" i scoff, albeit kind of rudely. "i just saw him at the police station and.. i just draw what i see."
"that's so cool." he starts drawing rectangles in his notebook, trying to copy my method.
i can't tell if i should be annoyed or flattered that he's imitating my style. well, trying to. i watch his slim fingers grasp the pencil, slowly dragging across the page.
"like.. that?" he slides his page toward me, and we make quick eye contact before i scan over his concepts.
one of them has a bush of flowers in the corner, and a sunset in the background. even though there isn't color, i can imagine the picture as if it were taken with a camera.
another one is of a fish. a small fish in the middle of the page, nothing else surrounding it. although it's small, the fish seems to have a frown. i can't help but see the melancholy feeling it's portraying.
the last one is the biggest. it's of a girl with a long frown, but she's holding a comedically large lollipop.
"this one's cool.. who's the girl?" i say after working up the courage.
"it looks like you." heidi cranes her neck to look at the page.
kenny can be heard snickering across the table. i lift my head up to see a mischievous grin on the boy.
"it is you."
"why am i frowning?"
"i just draw what i see." he pushes his hood back, revealing his blonde shag mullet.
offended, i push his paper back across the table and go back to working on my own project. my lips protrude as i sketch out another piece. the whole time my mind is screaming about how shitty this year is going to be.
that goddamn dead bird.

Where he’s best friends with reader and she’s in love with him and he thinks he’s in love too but when they finally start to date after a while he realizes he just loves her as a friend and he breaks up with her. Could be gender neutral reader if you rather do that. Thank you♥️♥️

The two of you started off as best friends and you fell fast for the boy from California. You tried to put your feelings off, thinking it was just lust.
You two partied with your friends, the both of you had one too many drinks and it ended with the two of you being tangled with each other in Tommy's guest room, both of you naked and Billy's hair in your mouth.
That was nearly a year ago. Six months after that, Billy claimed he was in love with you, your feelings were reciprocated and you guys began dating. You were in bliss each day with him, he was loving, attentive and so many other things. Billy was an amazing boyfriend for the first four or five months.
You guys have been together for six months now and he was acting weird. The kisses were brief, the "I love you"s were short and nearly emotionless. He hugged you like he did before you guys were ever dating.
The two of you hung out in his bedroom now, a record playing softly in the background as he sorted through his hair products and you flipped through a book that he had. "B." He hummed, not looking up as he threw away something. "Why have you been so short with me? Did I do something?"
He looked up and moved his hair products before patting his bed and you stood up and sat with him, your knees touching his. "I love you." You smiled, "I love you too." He looked at you. "I love you in a different way, babe."
Babe, he always called you that, even before the two of you began dating.
You slowly nodded, trying to wrap your head around it. "So like before?" He nodded. "What changed," you quietly asked him. He sighed, running his fingers through his curls. "I don't know. The first few months were fucking amazing, like they really were but I think I was trying to convince myself that I was in love with you. Of course I love you, we've always established that but I think I may have mixed it up somewhere along the way with being in love with you." You nodded again.
"Why were you trying to convince yourself?" He shrugged because honestly he didn't know. "So you've been faking for six months?" He looked at you, his eyes squinting slightly. "No, I didn't say that." You hummed. "Is it because I wouldn't put out?" He rolled his eyes, he was getting annoyed with you now. "You seriously think I'm that shallow? We fucked way before we were together. I didn't give a shit if we fucked."
Your eyes began to get teary, all those Polaroids in your drawer and on your bulletin board, all the sweet love notes he'd slip into the pocket of your jeans, they all meant nothing now. "Hey," he softly said, "get outta your head. You didn't do anything to cause this, okay? I lost whatever feelings that I thought I had. You're always going to be my best friend."
Best friend. That's what did it for you as a few tears fell and he went to wipe them and you moved from his touch. "Don't touch me, please," you took a shuttery breath. You wanted to sob, your chest was hurting, you had to let it out. You stood up and slipped your shoes on, grabbing your things as you wiped your face.
"Where are you going?" You looked over as you gently bit the inside of your cheek, you couldn't cry in front of him. "Home, I'll be late for dinner." He nodded, he knew the excuse was bullshit but he let you leave anyways. You got into your car, putting your visor down as the polaroid stared at you, a picture of the two of you at Lover's Lake, smiles on both of your faces.
You angrily pulled the picture from its clip and threw it to the passenger floorboard as you drove off, fighting back the tears as you drove home. You parked in your driveway and as soon as you unlocked the front door, you rushed to your bedroom, locking the door behind you.
You let yourself fall apart as you sat on your bed, a picture of you and Billy stared at you in a picture frame on your bedside table, a picture of the two of you as a party, way before you even got together. Your shoulders shook as you wiped your face continuously until there was a knock on your bedroom door.
"Babe, hey, Billy's on the phone. He said he wants to talk to you," your mother said on the other side of the door. You cleared your throat. "Tell him I'll call him tomorrow. I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone right now." You listened to your mom relay the information. "He said it's important." You sighed and wiped your face, looking in the mirror before unlocking your door and she handed you the phone, leaving you alone in the hallway and you sat down on the hardwood floor.
"What?" "Your excuse was bullshit. Your mom said she's not cooking." You rolled your eyes. "Is that all you called for? To see if my mom was cooking? I'm busy." "Busy doing what?" You stayed silent. "Exactly. Um, I had a question." You hummed, shutting your sore eyes as you let your head fall to your knees. "Is our dynamic going to change?" You sighed because yes, the dynamic was going to change.
"Billy, we're never going to be the same. We can try but we'll never go back to the way before we hooked up at Tommy's house." "I know, I just don't want to lose you forever. You're the only person that I care about, I can't just let you go." You wanted to cry at the confession. "Can you come back over? I need one last kiss from you, just one. I know I'm being a selfish mother fucker but babe, please." Your heart clenched as you gripped the phone tighter. "Okay," you let out meekly. "Lover's Lake, fifteen minutes." He hung up and you put the phone back and put your shoes back on as you grabbed your car keys and left.
You drove to the lake as the sun set, watching the colors fade out to darkness before your arrived, parking near the dock, where Billy's Camaro sat, idling with the headlights on and you parked your car, shutting everything off. You got out of the car and he did the same as he led you to the dock and the two of you sat down, a soft breeze came and went a few times as the two of you were silent.
He squeezed your knee and he apologized. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you how I was feeling." You looked at him and shrugged. "It's fine." He hummed and moved closer to you, two fingers going under your chin so you'd continue to look at him and he tipped your head up slightly before planting his lips on yours and you tasted your long-lost strawberry flavored chapstick on your ex's lips.
You kissed him back before pulling away, moving away from him by a few inches. "I love you," he softly said and you looked out at the sky. "I love you too." Your 'I love you' meant something different than his but you'd settle for the love he had for you because you'd rather him love you as his best friend than not love you at all.
"I should get back home," you quietly said and he nodded and the two of you stood up before going to your respected cars and instead of going straight home, you took back roads around the small town, knowing that kiss that the two of you just shared would be the last.

Part 5: Pretend You Don't Love Her
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steve kept to his word, though he wondered if he would eventually get grilled by his boss. Still he couldn't deny the way he was always thinking of her. In his mind she was already his, his thoughts reeling back to the way she clung to him the day before, he knew her mind was made up on him like his was for her.
When she stepped out of the house, she looked like herself again, in her pinks and blues, nothing like that outfit she wore at the party. This was his Mia, the baby doll he'd fallen for back in the summer. He was leaned against his car, waiting by the passenger door for her.
She couldn't help the smile on her face as she saw him open the door for her. Once both inside the car she handed him the lunch bag she had in her hand. He took it cautiously, "what's this?" She happily answered, "breakfast sandwich, some cookies, and an orange juice. My way of saying thank you. I know it's really early-" He cut her off, his gaze looking at her softly, wishing he could kiss her then and there, "it's okay bambi we talked about this, it's no problem at all, thank you for the breakfast though."
Her heart was beating out of her chest, the way they were looking at each other, she just knew he felt it too, but she wasn't that kind of girl to use anyone for a rebound. Instead she deflected the moment to getting there on time. Her gaze dropping onto her book bag, but as always he had to have his way and started up another conversation. As he drove they talked over the radio playing in the background. The conversation mostly revolving around her studies and plans for after graduation which weren't many, maybe community college at most.
She shouldn't have mentioned it but her parents only want for her was to marry a good man. However, she got so caught up in her rambling she ended up admitting that a 'good man' just meant good for the family. He listened as she mentioned how they'd probably planned who she would have marry if she hadn't been dating Kevin.
-
Once they got to the school, she instantly regretted agreeing to go back to school, she'd only missed a day, surely it wouldn't matter if she missed one more. She turned to look at Steve, to make up an excuse, he could see it coming any way and put a stop to it. His hand placed on top of hers, "Mia you're a smart girl you don't need to be missing school. Someone tries to give you any shit you call your father's office and i'll come handle it." She huffed, "easy for you to say no one cared what you did everyone was scared of you." He laughed, "believe me everyone is probably scared of you too bambi, your last name is well known around Hawkins too." With an eyeroll she hopped out of the car. He called out for her though, "hey! Like I said. A call away is all." She looked back at him and nodded.
-
As he drove away his mind began to wander back to what she had said about marrying her off to any wise guy they deemed worthy enough. He knew she was being shy, but he would have to start getting more proactive about things if he intended to have her by his side. However he wouldn't have to do too much as Mia unconsciously was playing into his game.
What he didn't take into account is how quickly she would turn to rely on him. How she would stay up some nights just to talk on the phone with him while her parents were asleep, she claimed she just wanted a different point of view on things. Mia knew she what risks she was taking but in her mind it was always a situation that was dealt with as 'friendship'. He worked for her dad, of course he didn't see her in that light, she was just part of the job description. If he wanted to he could have cut it off from the start.
-
That's how she ended up hanging out with him on a lonely Friday night. Both Jenny and Suzie had dates, something she was mentioning to him on one of their infamous catch up calls during the week. It was still early enough in the night that her mother wouldn't question her daughter having last minute plans with her friends.
Steve hearing that his best girl was feeling lonesome wasn't going to let it slide. Of course he pulled some lie to get out of what he was doing at his father's office to go and see her. When he pulled up to her house she was already outside waiting for him, her face filled with excitement and jitters as she hoped her mom wouldn't catch her with him.
They weren't worried about her father because he was out with Steve's dad on business on the other side of town. So the two sped off in his car, the plan was to get food and go hang out at lover's lake for a bit. He felt like his old self with her besides him, like he was back in senior year himself. It'd been so long since he'd let himself feel this sort of way for a girl, not since the first time his heart had been truly broken. Maybe Mia knew about it, but she was a freshman when he was on his way out, so she probably wouldn't have cared much anyways.
-
Lover's lake was relatively empty for a friday night, but that just meant they could be at ease a bit more. Their conversation carried from one thing to another as they ate their burgers and drank their floats and shakes. Mia tried to convince him that her strawberry shake was better than his cola float, but he wasn't having it. The mood was so light, she hadn't realized how close they were in his car.
It wasn't til they finished their food and the conversation moved onto the topic of some notes she'd gotten in her locker that the mood deepened. Steve took a pause after she showed them to him. His mind wandered as she explained they'd come from boys on the team. He nodded along listening to her, but when she saw him place them on the console of the car, she took it as a sign to wait for what he was going to say.
His eyes followed hers, and she trusted his judgement, she knew he probably knew best anyways. Steve ran his hands through his hair, "do you even trust these guys? Because you shouldn't bambi, they knew about what your ex had done and none of them told you? But suddenly they wanna ask you out? Sounds like snakes to me. You don't need those kind of guys around you." She thought to herself, how Steve had known how Kevin wanted to break up with her so was it any different.
What she hadn't realized is she said it outloud though, Steve sighed, "I know and I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, but in my defense I didn't know you the way I know you now. If I had been his friend I would have ratted him out to you the moment it happened. A girl like you deserves the world, and he wasn't ready to give you that." Mia's heart raced out of her chest as she heard the tone in his voice change, lower and breathy.
Gosh she wanted it, to pull him in and kiss him, he was close enough to her, but she shook her head and scooted back from him. This was her moment to put her foot down, "Steve you've been nothing but sweet to me but I can't do this. Whatever you want from me, I can't give you-" "Bambi I don't-" "Please don't start with the nicknames right now. I'm serious, I can't have you be a rebound or be the girl on the side in your life. You're older than me and you work for my dad, it's practically a death sentence." He tried to explain himself to her again, "Mia I don't know where you're getting this-" She scoffed, "I know enough about your history with girls around town Steve, listen just take me home. I don't wanna keep talking about this." True to her word she kept quiet the whole way back to her house.
As she stepped out of his car, he tried one last time to get her to see reason, "Mia I promise you it isn't the way you're thinking things-" she knew better, she always knew better, "I wanted a friend Steve, I can't do more than that. It wouldn't be right to either of us, plus I don't think I could give you what you're used to getting, at least not the way you go about it. Let's just leave this as it is, you work for my dad and I go to school, done deal. Goodnight." With that she shut his car door and ran off inside her house. His girl slipped right out of his hands.
-
There wasn't much time for him to let his feelings linger and dwell, with work being a distraction and his priority, Steve woke up the next morning and got ready to take out his pain on whatever fucker he got send to deal with. The drive to the office felt like hell, every other song on the radio was one that she had sung along to. He wasn't a quitter but he would have to back away for the moment, still he'd prove to her sooner or later that they're meant to be.
It was like a switch had flipped when he got in. Normally all the guys hung around the front, but today it was empty, unless he was there earlier than everyone else. His father's secretary telling him that he's waiting for Steve in his office. Something seemed off, and as he entered the office, he saw Mia's father talking to his dad. But as soon as Mr. Romano caught sight of Steve, he had pressed against a wall, his fist about to collide with the younger man's face when his father stepped in, "ask him first before you kill him." To which he spat out, "the fuck were you doing with my little girl at lover's lake last night." Steve was fucked, regardless of his answer, he was fucked.
