My Muse
Y/N was distraught.
She loved Harry, his music, his career and could not be more proud of him, his success and who he has become.
Although, she was struggling.
This whole album has been about Harry discovering himself, who he is... but also about his ex-girlfriend Camille.
Y/N knew about Harry everything he went through after their relationship ended, he was struggling greatly. They met around half a year after the break up, but she could see Harry was still struggling. She could see how he would keep to himself around new people, especially out in public. He was quite and wouldn’t speak out much, very different then how their mutual friend, Sarah had always described him.
Sarah has always talked highly of him, being in his band they grew very close and she often got to see how he went through his different writing processes. She saw him before and after shows and she knew him before and after Camille. Something Y/N could not relate to.
As time passed, the two got together, forming what their friends called a power couple. Harry and Y/N were completely inseparable, growing closer and closer as each day passed.
Harry opened up to her a few months into the relationship, sitting her down and letting her know exactly what happened in the relationship and why it was so difficult for him when it ended. He told her that since it was a huge part of the album, he might have to talk about it a bit, without saying names of course but she knew that everyone else already knew who he was going to be talking about.
“It’s okay, Harry. I totally understand. Don’t worry about it.” She would always say, giving him a smile and a soft kiss onto his jawline.
Y/N wasn’t lying, she did understand why and she didn’t want him to worry about her, not now. Not when his second album is taking off, hitting the top of the charts in preorder alone.
She did enjoy the majority of interviews. Hearing him tell funny stories of the writing process, or always getting emotional as he opens up about finding himself, his true sound and how he doesn’t feel like he needs to hold back anymore. But interview after interview, it got harder. Hearing him talk about the love he felt and then the unbearable pain after it was gone. She felt inadequate. Wondering if nothing went wrong, where would she be? Would Harry still fall for her when Sarah introduced him like he said he did?
Although, Y/N never brought up these concerns to him. Especially after the album drop he was on top of the world, explaining how he has never felt happier and more free, but she couldn’t help thinking if he would be happier with her by his side instead.
“Y/N, are you alright?” A voice brings her out, looking up and seeing Sarah standing there at the door, offering her a soft smile.
“Oh hi! Yeah, I’m totally fine don’t worry about me.” She nodded, looking back at the monitor, watching Harry messing around on stage with Mitch after finishing up a soundcheck nearly a minute ago. They often liked to stay for a while, messing around on stage, this often gave Sarah and Y/N sometime to catch up as their boys hung out together.
“Are you sure, sweetheart?” She asked, eyebrows furrowing as she sat next to her on the couch, “Cmon (Y/N), you know you can trust me with anything.”
“How’d Harry do?” She asked, trying to ease in, hearing Harry strum in the background to Cherry, causing Y/N to bite her bottom lip.
“Good... was just a sound check. Everything running fine- seriously what’s going on?” Sarah insisted, interrupting herself.
“What was he like? With her?”
A silence fills the room until Sarah let’s out a sigh, muttering a soft ‘oh honey’ before scooting closer, arms going around her friend protectively. Sarah knew she was struggling, but with it being such a difficult subject, she didn’t want to pry too much. She wanted to wait until Y/N was ready to confide in her, but instead she bottled it up.
“Fuck, sorry I shouldn’t have asked thats... sorry it’s none of my business.” Y/N quickly says, forcing a laugh and wiping her eyes, standing up quickly and going to look for her purse.
“You have nothing to apologize for. I know how hard this has been for you.” Her friend agrees, standing and following her, “have you and Harry talked about it? Talked about how this has been for you?”
Y/N shook her head, biting her lip hard as her eyes were squeezed shut, knowing if she spoke a word she would break down, she had been holding it in for too long.
“Do you wanna talk about it with him?”
She shrugged at this, honestly not knowing the answer. If she did, she didn’t know if Harry would stop all together, making his album less authentic or If he would be upset she held it in, or even said anything about it at all. But she genuinely didn’t know if she could hold it in any longer.
“You can tell me.” Sarah nodded, hugging her tightly, “let it out.”
“It hurts” Y/N breaks, letting out a sob, “it seems like- like all he talks about is her! And I know he wrote this whole thing before we met and- do you think he still loves her?”
“Y/N, no.” She says, pulling her back and wiping the tears from her friends face, “I’ve seen this man before, during and after both of you, and I have never seen him this happy. Ever”
She shakes her head, not believing her. “It can’t be me. It’s the album, the success! He’s himself now, so that’s what’s making him happy. I didn’t help him- she did.”
“Y/N stop” Sarah demanded, grabbing her shoulders and moving her hair out of her face, “Harry is in love with you! I remember him coming to me, asking me for advice when you went out on your first date.”
She shakes her head, disbelief and doubt being pumped through her veins, “it just doesn’t make sense! Look at her and then look at me. Who would you choose?”
“You”
“Stop.” She argues, rolling her eyes, “she’s skinnier and prettier and older! She’s way older than me, way older than him. Is that what he wants? I’m younger than him, Sarah. Young enough where there’s a million articles about it.”
“You’re going to make yourself sick if you don’t calm down.” Sarah demands, “please? Just calm down and we can talk about this. What does your age have to do with anything? You’re so beautiful, Y/N.”
“No, I should stop. Mitch and Harry will be back any second.” She sniffles, looking at herself in the mirror and sighing, dabbing at the skin around her eyes to try and depuff them.
“You can’t hold this in.” Sarah whispers, hugging her friend again, “please? Talk to me?”
“I love him and it’s scary because I don’t know-“ Y/N begins but quickly stops, hearing her boyfriends loud laughter, soon getting louder as he opened the door.
Y/N shoots Sarah a sympathetic look, silently begging her to remain quiet and not say a word, which she nods, giving Mitch and Harry a smile as they walk in the door, each boy going to each of them.
“Hey babe!” Harry smirks, kissing her before pulling back, eyebrows furrowing together and he lowers his voice, “are you alright? You look like you’ve been crying.”
“I’m okay!” She smiles, “poked my eye when I was fixing my makeup. Anyways, what are you guys up to?”
“We were gonna go grab some food before the show! Where do you wanna go?” He asks, hands going around her waist.
“Oh I’m not hungry.” She quickly responds, “been feeling a bit off all day so I might stay behind. I wanna feel better for your show.”
Harry frowns, pulling her closer to him before leading her out of the lounge room, leaving Mitch and Sarah as they continue their own conversation. Harry leads her off to his private dressing room.
“What’s up?” He frowns, lifting his hand to her face and rubbing her cheek softly, “what happened?”
“Nothing, Harry.” She smiles, her heart growing at his concern. Yet, she knows she can’t tell him. Not now, hours before his mini Fine Line show in London. The last thing she wants to be is a distraction, “don’t worry about me, really! And I feel like I’ve been budging in too much, go bond with the band!”
“You’re not interrupting anything. I want you here.”
“I know and I appreciate that, really, love being around you and everybody.” She giggles, “but I’m not gonna be there the whole tour and I gotta get used to that.”
“I wish you could be.” He frowns, pulling her right against his chest, “always want you next to me.... or below me.”
“Harry!” She laughed, pulling back and playfully pushing him, “you’re crazy.”
“Crazy for you, my love.” He dopily smirks, kissing her, softly.
She giggled against his lips, pulling him closer for another, each kiss making her worries drift further and further away. Mind reeling as his hands fall down her waist, gripping her bum as he pushes her closer, his lips falling down to her neck.
“Hey man, Sar-“ Mitchs voice causing them to jump away from each other, the three of them turning red as he clears his throat, “Um- sorry. I was just saying that Sarah said she’s gonna take a nap before the show too so I think it’s just just gonna be us and the other guys.”
“Sounds good!” He smirks, feeling a bit smug after what Mitch just walked in on, he turns back to Y/N, tucking a hair behind her ear, “you can stay in here if you want, lock the door and take a nap or whatever you need. Nobody should bother you and I’ll be back before you know it. Okay?”
She nodded, thanking him before pressing a kiss to his lips, “I love you, Harry.”
“I love you more, babygirl.” He smiles, kissing the top of her head before waving goodbye, following Mitch out.
She sighs, falling back on the couch and closing her eyes, mind muddled with confusion. Moments like that make her feel so silly, wondering why she ever worried in the first place. She does trust Harry, she doesn’t worry about him going out to try and find someone else, but she always wonders if he prefers to be with her, just has Y/N because he doesn’t have that option anymore.
She can’t help but lay awake, spending many sleepless nights just comparing herself to her. Camille was beautiful, and nobody could deny that. She had such grace and Y/N felt like her French accent and demeanor made her much more interesting then her own plain American ways. She wonders if Harry wishes Y/N was older, rather than being multiple years younger. She wondered if it annoyed him, bothered him that she had a great lack of experience. Harry was all she’d ever known and all she wants forever.
But did he feel the same? Did he actually love her? Does he actually find her as beautiful as he said? She found it hard to believe, especially seeing all he has had in the past. It makes her feel guilty, guilty for feeling so upset and hurt by seeing and hearing about people he was with prior, even though they’d never met at the time.
The door swings open, startling her and causing her to jump and heart to pound as she prepared what she would say next to Sarah, but it wasn’t her, it was Harry.
“What? What are you doing here?” She rushes, clutching her chest to try and calm her racing heart, I thought you were going to get food? Did you forget something?”
“Yes.” He mumbles, sinking down onto the couch next to her and holding her face in his hands, “I forgot to tell you how important you are to me. More than any album, place on the charts, anything.”
“W-what? Where is this coming from, Bubs?”
“Sarah told me what you said to her.” He frowns, eyes sparkling, “and I’m the biggest fucking arsehole I didn’t stop to talk to you about it once. To stop and actually ask you about it.”
“Harry, really, I’m just being-“
“Y/N listen, you are the best thing to ever happen to me. You’re my person. You’re it for me.” He whispers, leaning his forehead against her, tears forming in her eyes as she’s filled with so many emotions, “you gotta believe me, lovie.”
“I love you, Harry.” She sniffles, “I believe you, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize, you didn’t do anything wrong. This is all my fault. I should’ve talked to you more, I didn’t even think about how hard this would be for you, I’m so sorry.” He rambles, “you are the love of my life Y/N. Yes, I was in love before but this? With you? It’s so strong and real and terrifying. I’ve never felt this before. I want to be with you. Forever. Nobody else. And I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am to not have made that clear.”
“I should’ve told you from the beginning how I felt.” She admits, “I don’t want you to stop talking about it in interviews if that’s what you want to say, you should say it. It’s just really hard to hear you talk about her all the time.”
“I’m sorry my love. I don’t deserve you, don’t deserve your support.” He whispers, kissing her hands, “I am so beyond lucky to have you. You are the most beautiful, kind, considerate woman in the whole world. I don’t know how I got you.”
“Stop it.” She blushes, bringing her hands away from his lips and up to his face, shaking her head in disbelief, wondering how he even existed, “you are truly the most perfect man.”
“Now you stop.” He chuckles, cheeks turning pink, “I’m praising you here... really though love. You are my muse. I have millions of songs written about you.”
“Really?” She whispers, eyes wide, “you’re not just saying that?”
“What do you think Mitch and I are doing all the time?” He laughs, “we make Sarah go because we know she’d tell!”
“Well you’re right, because she told you what I said after I told her not too.” She blushes, looking down at her lap.
“Oh stop that you know she did the right thing.” He laughs, dragging her a bit closer to him so her legs lay over his lap, “Honestly, I was scared to show you them, thought I was open before wait till you hear these.”
“Can I? Can I hear them? Please?”
“I guess since you have good manners.” He smirks, pulling her on top of him. She giggles and he pulls her onto his lap, “you can hear ‘em all. Don’t know what I was waiting for... guess I was just scared?”
“Of what, Bubby?” She frowns, arms resting around his shoulders as she looks up at him.
“I don’t know... I just... I know you’re the one, so it’s kinda scary I guess...not knowing if you feel the same.”
“I do.” She squeaks, “I love you so much- wanna be with you forever.”
“Yeah?” He smirks, squeezing her hips tight causing her to squeal, falling into him, “I’ve been yours since the day we met. You inspire me, Y/N. You are my muse. I’d choose you over anyone. You are my priority.”
He leans in, kissing her softly, almost as if he was afraid of breaking her in two. His lips fell to her neck, sucking on her favorite spot and her grip tightened on him, head falling to the side a bit and she lets out a soft whimper.
“Harry, please...” she squeaked, hips pressing down into him involuntarily.
“I’m gonna take care of you.” He whispers lowly, pulling up the bottom of her dress and over her head, “gonna take care of you until the day I die, my love.”

Quick Thoughts on DD Book 1 Chapter 4
• Jesus, this book is expensive.
• Like I assumed Chapter 3's one accomplishment-one-or-two-LIs-or-a-family-member thing would be a one-off, just to introduce us into the system/ease us into the story, but no...they've (sort of) repeated it this chapter. I was hoping they would spread out the accomplishments at least, but perhaps they want us to have at least most of the accomplishments worked out before we leave for London.
• I really hope this doesn't become a regular thing because it will only cause players to lose interest in the books for lack of affordability, in the long run. As it is the book largely caters to a niche audience...alienating that audience by having them lose of on half the story won't bode well for the book.
• Title: Best Foot Forward. Man, this one is easy. Of course it refers to dancing. And quite a lot of dancing is done this chapter, that's for sure!
• Sooo...the Earl has decided to introduce us into society in Edgewater with a garden party. Lots of hobnobbing, some dancing, a few games and you meet at least one 'suitor'.
• Did You Know: According to writer and garderner Kim Wilson, who wrote a book titled In the Garden with Jane Austen, gardens were viewed as markers of social status. In an interview with The Scotsman, she says, "each family's garden reflected not only their needs but, if they had enough money, their social aspirations". The poor cottagers of the time were mostly concerned with growing food and having a place to keep their chickens whereas wealthier families would have had kitchen gardens, but also often extensive pleasure grounds, which were places to display their wealth and taste. (from an article about Jane Austen's love for gardens in The Scotsman).
• Last chapter had us learning (optionally) the art of the fan from our Lady Grandmother, so it makes sense that what happens in this chapter is this:
Tumblr media
Lololol just kidding.
• So the chapter begins with the MC and Briar talking. Briar is excited about the fact that a Duke (who, she reminds us, is "one step below a Prince Regent"), and the MC can either choose to be excited or very confident. Interestingly, if you're excited, she reminds you to "not forget your roots", which I think is a recurring theme in this book. After all, that was the last thing the MC's mother told her on her deathbed.
• Dominique enters the room and both she and Briar present us with a pretty pink lace dress that is sure to improve both our social standing and catch everyone's eye at this introductory garden party.
• It looks quite pretty, actually. But that's because I love lace.
• We head downwards, finding Annabelle performing for herself in the foyer and having a thoroughly good time.
• I'm wondering if I should have a tally for the number of times she says "a thousand pardons" (and for the record, I think her way of saying "fiddlesticks" is adorable xD).
• Our third "accomplishment" (and our second paid one) is presented to us here: dancing. It's not like the MC doesn't know dancing - she does - it's that the country dances (this might be a reference to the English Country Dances that were popular among all classes) are different from the ones Annabelle has learned, and indeed the popular ones for the aristocracy that are coming in from other places, like France.
• Annabelle mentions a couple of dances that were popular for its time: the cotillion (originated from France), the Quadrille (also from France), and La Boulanger (also French). If we choose the shoes the Lady Grandmother got made for us, Annabelle wastes no time in teaching us the last one.
• Annabelle speaks to us about the Quadrille being new. She isn't lying. The Quadrille became fashionable in England around 1815.
• Again, the good thing about the accomplishment scenes is that they're meant only for learning the skill, and Annabelle can develop in her individual scenes independent of this. Though I'm not sure if cramming both her individual scenes and her accomplishment scenes in the same chapter, two chapters in a row is a very good idea.
• Another marker of how new the MC is, lies in her interaction with Mr Woods (who is perhaps the only member of the housing staff we see at the party. Briar disappears completely after she's done her work of getting the MC ready, and Luke doesn't appear either). Mr Woods is surprised the MC deigns to speak to him in public, and Henrietta uses her interaction with him to point out how little she fits in, what with talk of the MC's "roots".
• Lol the exchange with the Earl if you bought the scene with the Lady Grandmother is quite funny haha. He speaks about Dominique drilling him into learning the names of all the families and the MC - saucy little shit that she is 😄 - looks at her fan and says "oddly enough, I know exactly what you mean".
• Ernest Sincliare makes his appearance after two chapters, and there's some banter about compliments if you're wearing the pretty lace dress I think. She teases him about it and he retorts that since he passes compliments so rarely, you can be sure that when he does he means every word. I can see that logic in that, Sinclair, but must you look like a child who has accidentally sucked on a particularly sour lemon when you do? 😂
• Throughout the chapter, you get references to the Season in London, and each time the MC by default takes it for granted that she will not be going there. Sinclaire hosts parties in London, Annabelle Parsons will be going there for the Season. Up until the end of the chapter, the vibe given overall is that she won't be seeing the two for a while now that they will be leaving Edgewater, and she won't.
• Did You Know: The London Season was developed to coincide with the sitting of parliament. During the months when parliament was in session, members of both Houses needed to be in attendance in London and came to the capital bringing their families with them. The London season grew up in response to this influx of upper class people who needed to be entertained.
Amanda Foreman, in her biography on Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, stated: "the aristocratic "season" came into existence not only to further the marriage market but to entertain the upper classes while they carried out their political duties. The season followed the rhythm of Parliament: it began in late October with the opening of the new session, and ended in June with the summer recess.” of course, later on this period of time gradually began to shift.
There also seems to be something called the "little season", but that seems more a fixture of the Victorian age than the Regency one (as mentioned in the article on the London Season from the Regency History website).
• The Earl and Mr Sinclaire share a more than cordial relationship: the Earl treats him with considerable warmth and Sinclaire shows a genuine respect and regard for him. You have a choice of asking him whether it is the Earl - or you - he has respect for (and the second option leads to a romantic moment), but it is what he says about the Earl, and his later interaction with Duke Richards that intrigues me:
Tumblr media
What happened to Ledford Park that the Sinclaires almost lost it? Why does his statement towards the Duke about Ledford sound so accusatory? Why is there such a strong undercurrent within the latter interaction? I want to know what the story behind Ledford Park is, and how the Earl helped save it.
• One of my favourite Sinclaire-related sequences is an additional scene featuring the fan, as taught to us by the Dowager Countess the previous chapter. I tried the last two with Florence, the MC who has no interest in Sinclaire:
Tumblr media
(the first four screenshots are from the "friends" option, and the next four from the "go away u suck" option)
Meanwhile, Marianne just goes in for the kill, fam. Homegirl didn't learn all those thot moves from Grandma for nothing 😄
Tumblr media
I do like that extra bit of sexual tension in this scene. I'm not very into Sinclaire yet, but I can see the appeal he'd have for someone who would want the Mr Darcy type of Regency male LI character. You also see a fair bit of it in the scene where the MC asks him if it is her he respects:
Tumblr media
• Sinclaire, dude, what is it with you and Italics??
• We now interrupt our regular programme with a game of Skittles. I'm not sure how many of you assumed Regency-era aristocrats were going to start passing around fruit-flavoured candy but I sure did 😂
• So this is skittles, played with nine pins. Very much one of the precursors to present day bowling from what I've read. Playing this game, and beating a champion like Mr Sinclaire at it will not only allow you to spend time alone with him, but also increase your social standing.
• It's simple enough: hit the red pin in the centre, and if you want you can distract the hell out of Sinclaire after he's fired his first shot.
• Twice this chapter, you see our resident comic relief for the day: Miss Theresa Oh-My-Smelling-Salts Sutton, and Mr Edmund Do-I-Look-Like-I-Care Malcaster, and I've decided I like them both (I wanted to add screenshots, but tumblr mobile sucks and won't let me put up more than ten images 😒)
• So we meet the "handsome", "titled" eligible bachelor our Lady Grandmother wanted us so badly to marry and...
...um. lol. ok.
Handsome? Charming? When was the last time you looked in the mirror dude, 20 years ago?
• You have a choice of how to respond after Duke Richards insults Mr. Sinclaire. You can either choose the Manners option, or you can choose to outright sass the man. If you don't sass him? The Lady Grandmother will do it for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• With the Manners option we find out that the Duke is 51 years old.
• With the non-manners option we find out that the dude likes saucy little minxes.
• @ the last panel in Florence's playthrough, Grandma even you can't deal with this dude for two minutes without nodding off. Why are you dumping him on my head then? (don't tell me. I know the answer 😐). See, this is why Florence will eventually kiss her inheritance goodbye lol.
• Jesus can this man just...speak two words without touching me??
• FINALLY. Miss Parsons. We choose a hiding place to get away from the Duke and then she offers to show us a new part of the estate: the lakefront. The great thing about gardens, esp in the writing of the time, was that it provided privacy for people at the time and allowed them to interact in ways they couldn't in public.
• Did you know: Austen herself used gardens pretty extensively in her writing. Mr Knightley confesses his love to Emma close to a shrubbery. Elizabeth jokes to her aunt about deciding to marry Mr Darcy after seeing the grounds in Pemberley. Fanny Price of Mansfield Park remarks, “To sit in the shade on a fine day, and look upon verdure, is the most perfect refreshment.” Catherine Morland of Northanger Abbey falls in love with hyacinths, Marianne Dashwood of Sense and Sensibility has a passion for fallen leaves in an autumnal garden, while Anne Elliot of Persuasion is always inspired to think of poetry when enjoying the beauties of nature.
Susannah Fullerton in her essay "Jane Austen and her gardens" (for the website Garden Drum) says: "Many proposals [in Austen's novels] take place out of doors where lovers can find some privacy amongst the gravel walks and flower beds; garden improvements are planned by some of the characters; and her heroines all enjoy going into a garden to think".
• Makes sense then that one of the special scenes of this largely "forbidden" relationship (if you choose for that to happen) would take place in greenery, close to a lake. If you notice, it's quite in keeping with the times that most of the romantic moments this chapter happen either in an isolated section of the gardens or while dancing, both of which allow for some measure of interaction between people interested in each other.
• Miss Parsons, the legendary hero of a Duck Prophecy xD
• I love her in this scene. Sure she gets shy when she receives attention she's not used to from us, and she's kind and educative and sweet, but she's also boisterous and passionate and not afraid to pull punches when she needs to (case in point: the shade she immediately throws Henrietta's way regarding her "tutelage"). This scene has her stealing cake from the party to feed the ducks, getting exhilarated from the race and her new friendship with the MC, and feeling extremely confused by her feelings if you speak to her romantically.
• The first half of this scene is pure fun, but the second inevitably shows the two women experiencing a sense of loss that their connection will be cut short - whether they are friends or whether this is a budding romance.
• What I do love about both the romance scenes are the extra touches added to both in the coding. In the skittles scene with Ernest, Marianne is spoken of by default as brushing her hand against his before giving him the ball, whereas Florence simply passes it to him.
• Even with Annabelle, if you acquire romance points with her, the ending of that scene is written quite differently:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I absolutely love this part of the scene. And given that very often the female LI is treated like just the default best friend with some stray romance options attached, it really does feel good to have that sexual tension acknowledged.
• Florence, babe, what is it with you and Italics??
• TIME TO PUT ON OUR DANCING SHOES GUYS (if we bought them).
• So we're doing a dance called La Boulanger...which kinda looks like this:
Tumblr media
You dance in a circle, then keep switching partners.
• Did You Know: that the Boulanger was one of the very few dances mentioned by name in Jane Austen's novels? (Pride and Prejudice Chapter 3. I think the reel is mentioned in another).
• I have two left feet unless someone is heavily choreographing a flash mob and spends ages teaching me the steps lol so this looks pretty complicated to me 😂
• You have an option of choosing between Mr Sinclaire, Miss Parsons and Duke Richards. The first two are the usual you'd expect from romantic dance scenes if you choose either of the first two, impressing them with your dance moves and then catching their eye when you're dancing with Edmund, your stepbrother. With Miss Parsons there is an additional show of boldness in that there is a danger of making their affections public.
• The Duke Richards option, which I managed to see thanks to @i-dream-so-i-write ...seems pretty okay actually. He doesn't seem as handsy and creepy as he does in our first meeting (there is a moment where his "hands skim your waist" though, and he tells us we've been apart too long [a couple seconds, tops]), but he's also still talking our ears off. If anyone is interested in seeing it, I can attach the screenshots!
• This man is so freaking extra I can't even.
• The chapter ends with the Earl announcing that he is changing his will, and that the MC is heiress to Edgewater Estate now, which makes it essential for her, then, to make her debut at the London Season, and begin searching for prospective bridegrooms.
• There is a catch though. You get the inheritance if you marry someone of suitable rank. In short...at this point in the story, Marianne is doing alright, but Florence is well and truly screwed until there is a twist somewhere (and surely there will be at some point). Sorry Florence.
• Henrietta has something up her sleeve, and Edmund, who was expecting to inherit, is sad and tells the MC so. You get a relationship point with him if you tell him you understand how it must feel, but he reiterates that you probably won't. We have time, we can still get this dude (and his palpitating fiancée) on our side. Maybe.
• Looks like we'll be starting our journey to London straightaway, and making our debut in London at Mr Sinclaire's party by Chapter 6. Alsooo from the spoilery chapter descriptions it looks like Mr. Marlcaster will try tripping us up at least once, or more than once. Also looks like we have two more skills on our accomplishment board to learn. So far we've gotten needlework, music and dancing - we now need to see what the other two are. I THINK one of them is painting.
General Thoughts:
• Good chapter. It's a little slow which is fine, because I think all the action will actually happen during the London Season instead. We meet only two suitors, one of whom we have already met in the first chapter.
• I feel like the extra scenes that we'll get with the unlocked accomplishments will include other styles of the same art. We initially learn the piano, but I feel like unlocking it will lead to extra scenes with other instruments, and unlocking the dancing shoes will show us extra scenes of Annabelle teaching us other dances (the waltzes, the reel, etc). I'm not entirely sure about this, it's just a theory I have. I mean, once we're in London we'll need to learn waltzes and the minuet and stuff.
• Luke doesn't make an appearance this chapter, but then again nor does Briar as soon as the MC gets ready. I think we'll see more of him now that we will be traveling to London.
• Donna Hatch's (who writes a ton of historical romances, esp Regency) essay on the London Season lists the months active in each year for it, and in 1816 it was from February to July. In the story it's now the beginning of April. Usually it's best to go at the very start if you're looking for marriage prospects, but given the MC's particular circumstances this time of the season isn't too bad either I'd reckon.
• Remember how I told you guys last chapter about the inclusion of Mary Brunton's Self Control? And how she criticizes the popular "rake" figure in Regency fiction? I'm not sure Duke Richards adheres completely to how rakes were depicted at the time, but he definitely does seem to be channeling Colonel Hargrave a little here.
• I wonder what the Duke seems to be hiding. Besides of course the truth of his equation with Sinclaire. Why is he so focused on this new woman? I think there might be more to this. I also can't wait to see the other suitors, like the viscount and Mr Chambers.
• I do like how we learn more about Sinclaire and Annabelle here. Annabelle largely has the role that Hana had in TRR, and there are some similarities - but she also has a lot more wiggle-room and seems to be bolder and a little more outgoing. She has grown up with the limitations placed on women at the time, but unlike Hana, hasn't faced as many restrictions in her upbringing.
• As I've mentioned before, I love Annabelle and I love that they're trying to do a better job of her. But I'm not entirely sure if cramming two separate scenes of hers in single chapters of an already expensive book is a wise choice, or if it will harm her development in the long run because people find it too expensive to spend on her. IMO the accomplishment scenes should be a little further spread out in the books.
• Now that the MC is going to be a future Countess, what is in store for her? In her rightful home Edgewater, she has a limited audience and not as much expectation to live up to...what will become of her now that she will be participating in the Season in London? Guess we'll find out today, or in the coming weeks xD

hey yeah can i get uhhhhhh wcpl brorad where.. raditz comes into the cafe during his lunch break and hes got his hair in a ponytail or braid or something and broly thinks it looks Very Good (IF U WANT TO.... )) also congrats on 100+ follows ;0
Broly carefully placed the cupcakes, one by one, into the display case. He’d been at the cafe since early that morning, getting the day’s baked goods ready to go. There was definitely something off about today, though, because the cafe was opening in two and a half minutes and he was only just now ready.
“You okay today, Bro?” Maza asked. She was sitting on the counter, bubblegum pink hair piled messily on her head as she stared intently at Broly and sucked down a smoothie. “It’s not like you to not have everything ready, like, half an hour before opening.”
Broly shrugged and stood up straight. “I’m fine. I think I’m just tired today.”
“Maza, get off the counter.” Chi-Chi walked in from the apartment upstairs, tying her apron around her waist. She eyed Broly appraisingly. “Is this going to be a back room day?” she asked.
“No.” Broly looked down at the floor. It wasn’t anything like that, he was sure. He just hadn’t slept well the night before, that was all. And seeing Chi-Chi’s husband returning from his morning run when Broly arrived at the cafe was probably not helping his nerves at all. His father had said seeing Kak–Goku–all the time would be good for him, but it always seemed to set him off in some minor way. He really hoped today would be fairly minor. Broly couldn’t deal with another meltdown so soon after his last one at his library job interview.
“Alright then, I trust you.” Chi-Chi scurried over to unlock the front door. “But if you need to disappear into the back for a bit, go right ahead.”
“Thank you,” he mumbled. Maza gave him a thumb’s up and scooted off to check the coffee again. Broly did his best to smile. He was lucky to work with two people who supported him as much as Chi-Chi and Maza did. Maybe he’d stay in the back when Goku left to take Gohan to the library, but other than that he was determined to have a good day.
Less than a minute after Chi-Chi opened the door, someone came rushing through it. “I need an extra large,” Raditz panted when he got to the counter. Broly blinked. Raditz looked like he’d just run all the way to the cafe from his apartment. He leaned against the counter, chest heaving, as Maza poured coffee into the biggest paper cup they had and slid it towards Raditz. Raditz knocked half of it back and slammed some change on the counter. “Shit,” he muttered. “Thanks. Can I have another one of these and about three danishes?”
“Sure thing.” Maza pushed Broly forward. “Here’s your extra large.”
Broly flushed. “I-I–” He cut himself off by swallowing when Raditz looked him up and down. Wait, was he–
“Well, I guess Broly is kind of a tall drink of water.” Raditz winked and Broly felt like his head was going to explode. “But I was more looking for coffee.”
Broly backed up a step, still red in the face. Maza slid in front of him and handed Raditz another coffee. “You’re early today, Rad!” she said, punching some numbers into the register. “Usually you don’t get here until five to!”
“Got an extra commitment today.” Raditz fished out some more change and a hair tie. “Except then I overslept and missed the early bus, so I had to run here or I’d be late.” He stuck the hair tie in his mouth and started braiding his hair. Broly’s eyes were glued to Raditz’s hands, to the quick, expert way they moved, tossing pieces of hair over each other until he reached the end and wrapped the tie around it. Raditz flipped the braid over his shoulder and Broly clutched his apron. It was a good look for Raditz. “Meant to do that earlier,” Raditz explained, picking up his first coffee again.
“Hey, Broly, tell Raditz what kind of danishes we’ve got today, okay?” Maza clapped Broly on the back. “I’ve gotta pee.” She disappeared into the back.
“I didn’t need to know that,” Broly mumbled. To his surprise, Raditz laughed. Had that been funny? But oh, wow, Raditz’s laugh was nice. Loud and boisterous and it didn’t fit in the early morning atmosphere of the tiny cafe, but like with Raditz’s braid it seemed to fit Raditz perfectly. Broly looked down again and started pointing out the different danishes he’d just finished baking ten minutes ago.
Raditz ended up with two cherry cheese danishes, a chocolate pastry, and a chocolate chip cookie. Broly added up his total and got Raditz’s change, still not meeting his eyes. He was too embarrassed. Raditz was very handsome, in his own strange rugged way, and for him to have called Broly a “tall drink of water” was a little more than Broly could handle.
“Hey, wake up there.” Raditz was waving a hand in Broly’s face. “You alright? You’re all red. Should you be at work?”
“I’m fine, thank you.” Broly handed Raditz his pastries.
Raditz leaned forward with a grin. “What, all flustered by my devilish good looks?”
Broly backed up a step. He was, but he couldn’t say that. That would be weird. “I’m–”
Thankfully, another voice interrupted him before he could figure out what he was trying to say. “Uncle Raditz!” Gohan latched onto Raditz’s legs in a hug before clambering up his torso to cling to his neck. Raditz shifted his grip to support his nephew and laughed. Broly blinked. Oh. Raditz had come early to take Gohan to the library. That was all. A little part of Broly was disappointed that Raditz hadn’t come to see him, but, well. Of course he hadn’t. His family ran the cafe. Of course Raditz would come to see them.
Maza reappeared at Broly’s elbow and he quickly excused himself into the back room. She and Chi-Chi really needed to stop leaving Broly alone with Raditz before he did something stupid.

Like I said; I don’t like Hospitals
Chapter 5
[Masterlist]
Summary:  You help Misha while he’s going through a hard time. The two of you quickly become friends, but will it lead to something more in such trying circumstances?
Words: 2,098
Pairing: Misha/Reader
It’s been a few days since you started staying with Misha, but you had yet to get any of the stuff from your old apartment. Truth be told; you were a little scared to go back, since you knew Clara would be there.
“Well, I have officially run out of clean underwear.” You mutter, closing your rucksack with a sigh.
There’s a knock at your door and Misha pokes his head in. “Hey, we were gonna go get groceries – you want anything?”
“Uh, not in particular, but do you mind if I tag along?”
“Glad to have you. We’re leaving in ten.” He grins before retreating from your room and shouting for the kids. You change out of your pajamas and put on a little makeup to go out.
“Maison! Put those back; we do not need tampons.” Misha chuckles, making the four year old huff and cross her arms. “They somehow always get at least one thing past the checkout.” He tells you. “Even though it’s usually something of no use whatsoever to anyone.”
“Yeah, they sure do seem like a handful.” You laugh, “A fun handful though.”
Misha rolls his eyes, “You don’t have them twenty-four hours a- West, get down from there!” Misha darts forward just as West is about to fall into a giant box of teddy bears.
You chuckle and take charge of the shopping cart.
Outside the store, Misha has finally managed to get everyone in the car and seat belted.
“Daddy can we go to the park?” Maison asks from the backseat.
“I don’t know guys…” He turns to you, “What do you think Y/N?”
You shrug, “It’d probably use up some of their energy.”
Misha raises an eyebrow, “Sounds like YN’s saying yes,” He tells the kids, who grin. “You coming with us?” He asks.
“I actually had some errands to run if that’s okay.”
“Oh I see,” Misha rolls his eyes. “You just said yes to dump them with me!” He accuses, before adding, “Yes of course it’s okay. Do you need a lift anywhere?” “Nah I think I’ll just walk – it’s a nice day.” You reply.
“Okay. See you back at home?” He asks, making your heart pick up speed at his use of ‘home’.
“Yep. Have fun you guys.” You grin and get out of the car.
Your errands consisted of picking up most of your stuff from your old apartment, seeing as you knew Clara would be at work today, as well as starting to look for a new place to live.
Surprisingly, it didn’t take long at all to find a place which seemed perfect; it was a single bedroom apartment, in your price range, close to your work.
Even more surprisingly, the landlord asked to meet with you today.
Luckily you’d dressed semi-presentably this morning, so you decided to just go for it. After all, it’d be a weight off your chest to not be mooching off Misha anymore.
It turned out the landlord was going on a year-long world tour at the weekend, so needed to sort out the apartment before she left. It was a pretty basic interview, and you left feeling pretty sure you’d get the place.
“Misha?” You call, opening the front door. He’d given you a spare key yesterday – just in case. “I’m back.”
There’s silence before Misha comes rushing through – covered in flour – grinning and out of breath.
“We were baking.” He explains, panting slightly.
“Right. Of course.” You say in slight disbelief. You shake your head, “Anyway, I was wondering if I could cook tonight,” You hold up the grocery bags you stopped off to get on the way home. “You’ve done so much for me, and I wanted to start saying thank you.”
Misha smiles softly and walks towards you. “Sure, you can cook. Although you know this is all my pleasure. Quite literally; I like having you here.” You blush and he takes the grocery bags from you. “I’ll put these in the kitchen – you probably don’t want to go in there – it’s pretty messy.”
“I can imagine.” You laugh.
He turns and starts walking away, before stopping suddenly. “Oh! I just remembered – I invited my friend Darius round tonight, do you mind cooking for one more?”
“No problem.”
You’re cooking when you get the text.
Place is all yours! After the paperwork, you can pick up the key as your earliest convenience.
You grin and breathe a sigh of relief, before being interrupted by a knock at the door. You leave your carbonara to go answer it since Misha’s upstairs showering the flour off.
“Hey Darius.” You greet him.
“Hey! Y/N, right?” He asks, following you inside.
“Yeah. Misha’s just coming; he got a bit floury this afternoon.” You giggle.
Darius nods. “It’s not the first time. Oh, I brought some wine.” He adds, holding up a bottle of red.
“Oh cool, just put it… Somewhere...” You shrug. “I’d better get back to cooking; it isn’t my forte without distractions.”
“Do you mind if I keep you company?” He asks, following you to the kitchen.
“Sure, as long as you don’t get in the way.” You wink. “So,” You start, “How did you and Misha become friends?” You ask casually.
“Oh we met back in middle school.” He says, taking a seat on a stool. “He was chubby and didn’t have any friends, so naturally we bonded over that.”
“Ah, okay.” You laugh. “Can’t really imagine a twelve your old, chubby Misha, to be honest.” You say, stirring the white sauce.
At that moment you both hear Misha’s voice shout through, “Was that someone at the door?” He walks into the kitchen wearing only a towel around his waist. “Oh hey Dar.” He says, grinning.
“I dunno, I think it’s pretty easy to imagine chubby, twelve year old Misha – after all, not much has changed.” Darius jokes, and you giggle, hiding your blush by dropping your head.
“Darius you’d better not be telling all my embarrassing stories!” Misha laughs,
“Oh yeah, Misha breast fed ‘till he was six.” Darius tells you, making you burst out laughing.
“Oh come on,” Misha chuckles, “I can’t leave you alone with anyone.”
“Mmmph,” Misha groans, now fully dressed. “Y/N, this is amazing.”
You blush, “Thank you. It isn’t the best thing I’ve ever cooked, but I was distracted.” You chuckle, remembering the distraction mostly being embarrassing stories about Misha.
“You should definitely cook more often. Especially if you’re gonna be staying here for a while.” Misha says, taking another bite of carbonara.
“Actually…” You start, suddenly feeling nervous about telling him about your new place. You clear your throat, pulling yourself together. “I, uh, I found a place, today; to stay.”
The table seems to go quiet, and Misha lowers his fork. “Oh.” He says, putting his fork down. “When are you moving in?”
Suddenly the atmosphere seems to have changed, and you feel somewhat unwelcome. “Well… The landlord said I could move in as soon as possible, so probably sometime this week.” You say apprehensively.
“Okay then. Congratulations.” He says, though it sounds hollow and disingenuous.
You notice Darius giving his friend a curious look, before deciding to stare at your food.
The night goes back to being fun and light-hearted after a while, though it still feels a little off.
Darius left a few hours ago; taking the kids with him to give Misha a break, and you and Misha are currently a little tipsy - sitting on the couch talking.
“You know earlier when I said the kids always manage to get something through the checkout without me noticing?” Misha asks. You nod. “This time, I come home to find a box of condoms.” Misha doubles over with laughter, falling across your lap. It wasn’t even that funny, but you find yourself laughing too.
“It’s not even that funny.” You say between laughs.
Misha sits back up, but he’s considerably closer to you than he was before. “Yeah? Why did you laugh then?” He asks breathily.
“Because…” You say, your face centimetres from his. “You’re cute when you’re laughing.”
“Yeah?” He asks, glancing at your lips.
“Yeah.” You breathe.
You close your eyes and suddenly there are soft lips pressing at yours. You don’t pull away, but you don’t move either. After an excruciatingly long time of your mind going fuzzy, you finally pull away, inhaling sharply.
“Misha…” You say unsteadily.
“Shit,” He says, his eyes going wide. “I shouldn’t have done that. Shit, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, I just… I think I should go.” You say, getting up clumsily.
“Um, okay, if that’s what you want.” Misha says, his eyes worried.
“Yeah… Yeah I think I should leave.” You say, making your way to the door.
As you’re leaving, you see Misha put his head in his hands, and hear him mutter, “Fuck.”
Once you’re outside the cold air clears your head. You pull out your phone with shaky hands, deciding to text your sister.
Hey, I know it’s late, but is there any chance I could crash at yours tonight?
You take a deep breath and start walking away from Misha’s house.
He kissed me. You think. He kissed me. He’s married. Am I a homewrecker? Fuck.
Your sister replies in less than five minutes,
Of course! Are u okay?
Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll explain when I get there x
You sigh; relieved you’ll have someone to talk to.
“Jesus fucking Christ.” Beth says after you’ve told her everything. “So… Do you like him?”
Your eyes go wide and you flush, “What does that matter? He’s married!”
She shrugs, “I think it matters. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling you to do anything stupid, but… It’s complicated. Who knows, maybe you could work something out. I just don’t think you should ruin this any more than he already has, okay? Don’t go making any rash decisions.”
You nod, “Good idea. It’s too late to do anything tonight anyway, I’m going to bed.”
“Okay, I probably won’t see you in the morning; I’ve gotta get up early for work. Let me know what happens okay?” “I will, thanks for everything.” You say, standing to hug her.
“Night Y/N.”
In the morning it’s decided; you have to try to talk to Misha before you decide anything. That’s why you’re on the way to his house. It’s only about half an hour’s walk away, but you’ve already taken over an hour because you’re dreading the talk.
Finally you get to his front door. You knock because you left your key here.
There’s no answer, but you notice the lights are on. After knocking a second time with no reply, you decide to try the door; it’s unlocked.
You frown – that’s unusual. Walking inside, you notice nothing out of the ordinary – no one’s washed up the dishes from last night, but that’s reasonable.
“Misha?” You call; there’s no reply. “Misha?” Louder this time, but there’s still no reply. You’re worried now as you walk up the stairs to his bedroom.
You knock, but again, there’s no reply. Cautiously you come in – but the room is empty.
Suddenly you hear a voice,
“Misha?” A man is shouting from downstairs. You walk towards the sound.
“Darius?” You ask – he’s standing in the living room, looking just as confused as you.
“Hey Y/N, is Misha here?” He asks, as West and Maison run in behind him.
“I don’t think so – I only just got here, but there’s no sign.” You say, frowning.
“Guys, go back to the car.” Darius says to the kids, who obediently walk off. “Did you say you only just got here?” He asks, and you nod. “I thought you were living with Misha?”
“Um,” You start uncomfortably, “I was staying at my sister’s place last night.”
Darius nods, apparently not wanting to interfere. “And Misha didn’t say anything about going anywhere?”
You shake your head, “No, I have no idea where he could be.”
“I’ll try calling him.” Darius says, getting his phone out.
The phone rings out, so Darius leaves a worried voicemail asking where the hell he’s gone.
Darius sighs, putting his phone down on the coffee table. “I’m gonna check around the place, see if I can find him. You stay here in case he comes back.” “Okay.” You say, taking a seat on the couch.
Just after Darius leaves you notice he left his phone. You stand and pick it up, turning to go after him, when the screen lights up. It’s a text from Misha saying one word:
Vicki
Chapter 6
A/N: Sorry for the cliffhanger, hopefully it’ll encourage me to write part 6 soon...  Also they're fun. I hope you guys are enjoying this, but I need some advice. Honestly I haven't decided the details of how this story is gonna continue - specifically whether or not to kill off Vicki. Because I frickin' love Vicki, and would feel awful killing her off, but at the same time I feel like as a narrative it might be better with her out of the picture - and I'm not great at writing polyamory. (I know I’m an unproffesional fucker) What do you guys think? -B
