I anticipated the homesickness university would entail.

When my boots traversed the smooth pavement where the skaters would practice their tricks or the surprising nocturnal solitude, the ache in my shoulders from hauling gratuitously heavy luggage, I would play Adele's 'Hometown Glory'. It is fitting for my more morose moments. I have made this self-imposed isolation my Hometown. But memories are not fresh; I am unaware of the passage of time - the brightness of afternoon is unfamiliar to my eyes. I hear people's post-nightclub conversations and have this yearning in my chest. That could be me if I didn't misattribute laughter on the street as being targeted at me.
