Macaque appeared as if he was about to whine like a puppy, looking up at you as you lay on the bed, unmotivated, and without energy. Uncomfortable. And slightly irritated.

“Are you sure you don’t need anything?” You heard Wukong ask gently to your right. You turn your head into his arm. You had assured before that just lying down with them near you was enough to sooth you in this time of… well… being born a female.

After they discussed-many times-how they could help, you came up with a position that both of them could stay by your side and help you. Knowing they liked the closeness and that feeling of helping you even when there wasn’t really much they could do. Macaque could lay on your left side, using his portal- or shadow powers- to bring chocolates to you while Wukong laid on your right with his hand over your tummy. Where your pain was centered on. You knew that period pains were different for everyone. For you? It felt like your bladder was turned into a vortex of dull knives. You knew the remedies were either painkillers first thing in the morning, or just having something to eat. Hot beverages, heat over the pain. That’s what worked for you before. And chocolate. Lots. And Lots. Of Chocolate. Hence why they had caught you making chocolate chip cookies a few days ago. You were the kind that kept a calendar marked for every time so you could ready yourself for that messy week- or in your case the first few days of the more extreme pain. And since then, they had been eager in helping you in your time. Apparently they had gone through enough Master Incarnations that they had familiarized themselves with more remedies than even you had thought of. You were honestly amazed at how attentive they were. You had only been with them for about three weeks. This was your first time being their Master with your menstrual cycle arriving.

You had always been told guys get uncomfortable with the mention of periods, so you were more used to dancing around the topic, but here they were talking about all the remedies like you were coming down with the common cold and they would be there to help you the whole while. It was endearing.

“The warmth is enough I don’t need any pain killers…” You assured them. Feeling Macaque nuzzling into your side. Making you smile, almost laugh. “I’m better than I was this morning, I’m thankful for that.” You reassure them, moving your hand to lazily scratch Macaques head, feeling him leaning into your touch. On your right you could feel Wukong nuzzling into the crook of your neck. It was all so soothing.

“You sure you don’t want to hit us?” the dark simian offered, making your heart sink. And making him lower his head. Right. You always forget they can ‘feel’ your emotions through this whole ‘bond’ thing that made them insistent on serving you. You wondered if they also feeling this period pain. You sure hoped not.

“That won’t make me feel better. If anything it’ll just make me worse.” You reminded Macaque. You cared too much about them to take your anger out on them. “Besides, I’m not all that angry. I’m just uncomfortable. The chocolate helps though… thanks for making another batch of cookies. It really helps.” You turned and he rose up, knowing exactly what you were going to do. Your lips touched his forehead, and he melted. Both of them curled into you. Their soft fur soothed you. And gosh darnit feeling their tails around you filled your heart with butterflies all over again. They stayed close… until you had to get up.

“Are you alright?” Macaque hurriedly asked. You knew they already missed the excuse to cuddle with you.

“I’m fine. I’ll be right back.” You didn't look back at what face Macaque was making or the probably concerned look on Wukongs face.

“Do you need us to do anything? We’ll do it right away!” You heard Macaque try to reassure you as you stood up and almost wobbled-the price to pay for not using your legs for so long-focusing on the specific door.

“I don’t think this is something you can help me do.” “Why not?” It would’ve made your heart sink hearing how distressed he was. Like you were dismissing his abilities, no confidence in him after all he's done. But then you turned, and he saw which direction you were headed.

“I’m just gonna use the bathroom. I’ll be right back.” You heard how deadpan your tone was. And seeing their expressions almost made you laugh. But you really did need to go. No matter if you had chocolate, pain killers, or heat… if you needed to go, your pain wouldn’t subside.

You knew as soon as you were done, Wukong and Macaque would be there to be your lil snuggle buddies and take care of you while you ride out this whole period thing. You planned on giving each of them a kiss as thanks for everything they did. But where though? Head? Cheek? Lips? ... eh. All of them. Yep. All of them. You concluded with a smile.

I uh... I did it again. XD My brain has been going brrrr over this fucking GORGEOUS artwork by @zunkome2 on Xitter (click the view on Twitter button to see their art) and it inspired me to write fanfic of it. I love this art so fucking much!!!! I hope I can keep practicing and be as good as them one day. :D

So yeah, I could not stop thinking about this and I love that Blitz is canonically such a horse-girl, and I can totally see Striker realising and using that to his advantage in trying to draw Blitz in and hopefully get him on his side.

Anyway, my brain decided it was time to take like 5 hours of my day on and off making me try to write this to the best of my current ability. Enjoy. XD

Blitz was in Heaven.

An ironic descriptor, considering their actual location, but picking a better one would have been impossible right then; especially with a hellhorse nuzzling his chest ever so gently in search of another rawhide strip. Her mouth may have appeared vicious - and technically yes, that Lovecraftian maw was capable of crushing flesh and bone to mush in a single bite - but the non-business parts were also far softer to the touch than anyone less familiar with the creatures might expect.

"Sorry. I'm all out," he murmured regretfully, giving the beautiful beast a scratch on her forehead as she shoved her muzzle into his other hand. He had to take a small step backward however when she suddenly whipped her head up and to the side with a greeting whinny. Strange. What was that abou-

"Lot of others would've lost a limb for that." The unexpected voice made Blitz tense, tail shooting straight out behind him in surprise before curling tightly, an embarrassed flush rising to his cheeks. He peered around the hellhorse's neck, praying his mortification wouldn't be obvious to the cowboy now leaning against his mount's side. How the fuck had he arrived without him noticing? Striker plucked the wheat stalk from between his teeth and smirked. "She likes you."

Blitz coughed awkwardly and began backing away, mind and mouth both rapidly trying and failing to come up with a believable excuse for his actions. "I was just- uh… I was looking for… We had them at the circus, see, and I thought maybe- Strips are really good for their teeth, you kn- I mean of course you'd know that! I just-" Striker's eyebrows had been climbing steadily higher beneath the brim of his hat the longer Blitz waffled on, and in desperation he found himself resorting to a ridiculous escape route he hadn't used since he was nine years old. "Ah, I think I hear Luna calling me! Coming Loonie!" 

He skittered across the corral and clambered over the fence, cheeks burning hot as he cursed himself silently. Why had he turned into such a blathering idiot in front of the one person he'd actually hoped to impress this weekend? Blitz knew a ruthless killer when he met them and Striker was clearly I.M.P material. After a pathetic show like that though, there was no way he would want to-

The ground under his boots had begun to vibrate while he fumed, faintly at first, then increasing to a thundering roll. He instinctively darted to the side and kept walking, expecting whoever it was to just barrel past him at the reckless speed they seemed to be going. But his path was abruptly cut off by a fiery grey mass, Striker expertly bringing his mount from full canter to a standstill in a cloud of dust. He swung her around to stand side-on so he could look down at the choking imp, that shit-eating grin Blitz was quickly becoming familiar with exposing a gleaming gold fang to the sunlight.

"Pretty sure your hound went bean-pickin' with the rest an hour ago," Striker commented, leaning forward to rest an arm on the pommel, free hand tapping his thigh absentmindedly, "Since you got so much free time to burn, how 'bout you come help me check the fences? Got a few posts loose on the South end thanks to that pesky varg pack last night." The hellhorse shuffled under him, pawing at the dirt and snapping her jaws a little at the mention of vargs. "Bombproof wouldn't mind catching a few either, I bet. Maybe you'll get to see her on the hunt."

"Oh, uh…" Perhaps he hadn't completely blown his chances after all? Striker certainly wasn't behaving like he thought Blitz a dithering moron, literally chasing him down to offer another opportunity to spend more time together and bond with Bombproof. What an incredible name for a hellhorse… No, focus! He could salvage this. He just had to pull himself together and show what a great prospect his group would be compared to farm work in the boonies. Preferably without turning into a rambling mess this time. He forced a nonchalant shrug. "Sure, why not?"

Striker slipped his boot free of the stirrup, hand extending in clear invitation. Blitz's brain stuttered, immediately dropping every part of his own peptalk as it dawned on him what the other had actually meant.

"What, you plannin' on walkin' there? It's miles of Wrath terrain. C'mon Blitz, I don't bite," Striker drawled, head tilting as his eyes took on a knowing glint, "Unless you ask nicely."

Well that decided it. Blitz was reaching for the proffered hand before he could second-guess himself, so caught up in his whirling thoughts Striker had to correct which foot the distracted imp tried mounting with. Blitz didn't have long to stew in his humiliation at least, preoccupied by the ease of how he was hauled into the saddle, hands directed to grip the pommel while the taller demon reached around him to grasp the reins. Striker nudged his leg out of the way, retaking the stirrup and leaving Blitz to squeeze Bombproof's sides tightly with his thighs as she responded to her rider. A moment later they were galloping down the driveway, wind whipping past their faces and her powerful form surging below them.

Blitz was wrong. His time in the corral had been a beautiful experience, but still only comparable to Earth at best. 

Now he was in Heaven. 

And he never wanted to fall.

well, right now, mainly mdzs and a little bit for ace attorney. i've been known to write for arcane, and a little for svsss and star trek snw. everything else is for assorted various fandoms as the whims come and go, but those are the main ones.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

A Punishment Most Sweet, niecest pwp 2.2k.

Too Close for Comfort, niecest pwp 4.9k, for the love of god read the tags before diving in.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

absolutely! i always do unless it's a hate comment or something like that. i really love getting to interact with people who love the same characters i do; tbh it's one of the biggest reasons i write fanfic in the first place.

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Final Entry. i genuinely cried while writing it and i have a secret, alternate ending stashed away just for me because it was so difficult to handle at times.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

i think that the one that has the most uncomplicated happy ending is A Thousand Ways to Say I Love You, tbh. most of my fics end happily though, in varying degrees. it's because i'm a sap XD

8. Do you get hate on fics?

not usually! i have a few times, but it's not very common for me.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

over half of my fics include smut, and it's of various kinds. i am a creature that thrives on variety, so it's difficult for me to do one thing over and over again. i have some things i won't write, but even things i'm very neutral towards or even mildly squicked by, i'll usually still give them a go at least once.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

i haven't posted one yet, though i've had a disco elysium/mdzs crossover in mind for probably a year now? idk if i'll ever get to writing it because i'm too intimidated to write disco elysium fic, but the vibes are good for myself at least.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that i know of!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes! once again, it's Final Entry, translated into Chinese. i nearly cried when the translator asked to, it was so sweet 😭💖

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

nope! when i was young i tried to write with someone else a few times and it really didn't go well, but now i don't think i would be opposed to the idea. it seems a little difficult, because of writing speeds and styles and everything else, but if someone wanted to try with me then i'd probably be game.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

well, okay. i think empirically, i have to say that it is niecest. i've never written this many fics for a ship before ever. honorable mentions to xisang, which anchored me into the mdzs fandom, and miamaya from ace attorney which is my most recent obsession.

15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

well, i have about a million wips, and so it's unrealistic to think that i would ever be able to finish them all. but on my other account i have a xisang modern au that's just told through poetry written by nhs, which i hope to finish someday but the "write poetry" juice is not terribly common for me, alas. i don't think i'll ever finish it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

i think internal monologues are my biggest strength when writing. it's certainly the part that i enjoy the most, and i think that definitely shows through even after i've edited it all. also, i think i'm pretty good at smut tbh, and at turning smut into opportunities to showcase where the character(s) is(are) at emotionally. and... writing very long sentences XD

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

dialogue 👍 which is fucking hilarious because when i was a teen, i could write dialogue all day long and it was my favorite part of the process. but now it's nearly always like pulling teeth, and i'm often not satisfied with it even when i'm done.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i think the only language i'd feel comfortable doing that for, if it were more than just a word here or there, is Spanish. i love seeing it in fic though, when i'm reading! but yeah, i'm just not enough of a polyglot to feel comfortable pulling it off myself, generally.

with mdzs/untamed fanfic, i operate under the assumption that the characters are all speaking Mandarin Chinese unless otherwise specified, so i'll use a specific dialogue tag if it's important that they're speaking in another language.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

the ranger's apprentice series--i loved it when i was younger. none of the fanfic remains, unfortunately. when i was a young adult i got embarrassed by what i'd written for it and burned the notebook holding my earliest fanfic, and then through the internet i've lost another long one that was for that same series and universe. i still have an original novel i wrote that was loosely based on that fanfic, though.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

i think... for now, it's still Iridescent. that might change with my next longfic, but since it's currently my only very long fanfic that's finished, it's difficult not to be attached to it.

How do you decide which fics to base fanart on? Does inspiration just hit?

Hello, first, thanks for the ask!

And the answer is... sometimes.

Sometimes I read a fic and inspiration hits hard, such as with The High-Wire! (Probably helped by the presentation of such beautiful stunning visuals through words!!)

Other times I spend a really long time trying to think of the perfect fanart cause I really enjoyed a fic such as with BTK!

And sometimes there's a community event like NDAW, I see fics getting super low notes and just going unappreciated and decide I want to TRY and give as many fics as I can the appreciation they deserve and so I pick out a cute visual from each one and draw four fanarts in a week xD

And sometimes I just enjoy doodling while reading a fic. Although I haven't actually shard any of my fanarts from my sketchbook in a long time. Maybe one day I'll start doing it again but right now I mainly only share fanarts if the author is a friend or a mutual of mine, I fluctuate with how comfortable I am in a fandom and online and right now I'm definitely on the lower side which is why as far as fanarts go it's mainly just been close friends.

But anyways, I do hope that answers your question, thanks a lot for asking! And for anybody looking for some fic recommendations well, there you have a few XD

My first night in Tokyo!

Hey there! Jokeraddict0 here! I’m making this post for my MHA fanfic Blank Canvas, but I thought I would share some of my picture from my first night in Japan! A little fyi, I worked as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Japan through the JET Program for three years from 2016-2019. For my story itself, I like to use my experience to enrich the MHA universe with my personal knowledge of Japan such as of daily life and the school systems. This is one of those things! So here are some pictures of my first official night in Japan. Specifically Shinjuku! Enjoy!

Okay! So first fanfic I actually wrote was a secret seven type fic (I didn’t know what fanfiction was but this story was heavily influenced by The Secret Seven, back when I limited access to books) and I used all my classmates to be part of this secret club that solved mysteries in rural donegal. Soon my classmate found out - being that I was like 8 or so, and they then tried to hijack the story. Which was when I realised that no, I did not want to insert real people into my stories and I wanted to write something else instead. Ever since I’ve never included people I actually know or named characters after people I knew. It was a very traumatic moment in my childhood XD

That would have to be a card captor Sakura one I think and I can’t even remember it anymore. I know Love/Hate: Just how thin is the Line came a few weeks later. I’m genuinely not sure if SLTS under the name Ice Queen came before L/H or not. I think it might have, got dropped after one chapter and then I came back much later to write more once I understood my version of the characters better.

Probably the Mariam meets a Mary Sue fic. It was very tongue in cheek and just… not great. I’ll probably end up deleting it at some point. There’s possibly worse. I haven’t looked. I’m too scared. I’ve been writing fanfic for too long and finishing none of it.

I’ve answered this one previously. I honestly can’t remember now. Oh, there was a werewolf fic at one point, and possibly Kai as a demon when all those twilight/pnr novels were the thing. Oh! And some Zerith plot lines that I just don’t have the bandwidth for. Maybe after CCR. Maybe.

LMAO! Oh dear. All of them? Dubh Croi. That’s been abandoned with the hopes that I’ll come back to it with a better brain, a more structured plot and original characters. I love the idea of it, but I wrote myself into a wall with it and I just could not fix it. And there’s so many problems with it now, I just think it would work better as an original novel rather than a fanfic. But I keep it up because people liked it, and I can understand why. I enjoyed it a lot.

Hmm, there is a scene in SLTS where Kai’s dad and Amber’s dad, who are friends but very different dad’s, meet up and Kai’s dad has to give Amber’s dad some dadvice. It took me forever to write it. I have about six different drafts. I hated it, so much but it was so important and I needed to get it right. I’m proud of it now, but dear god the agony of pulling that scene together still sticks with me. Icky. I imagine it will be destroyed by the TyHIl ghost fic because I have to include one of my greatest fears in it. I’m not sure how I’ll cope with that.

Despite loving Cloti so much and writing Fall Ball Fling for them, Zack and Aerith are the ones I have tons of plot bunnies for but which I cannot find the time to write. And they also have a much more interesting backstory that Cloti in Fall Ball Fling BUT that’s also because I don’t want to give Cloud and Tifa more drama because they had enough in the games. I just want them to dress pretty and dance.

Jessie smirked. “Make sure you keep your hands above the waist when you’re dancing with Tifa, but you can touch me wherever you—“

“Not happening.”

“Jessie,” Zack warned. Waving her away, he stepped in front of Cloud, blocking his view of the girl/demon incarnate. He placed his hands on Cloud’s shoulders, a comforting weight. “Look, this is everything you wanted, right? And you want the dance to be special? So come on, do it for Tifa. She’s worth it, right?”

Hey I think I have to get rid of something (or confess XD) about you all wishing people would comment more on your blogs.

I don’t know why but I always feel a bit weird doing it.👀 If i am honest i only have strugle commenting on tumblr i don't know why. Maybe I think it’s because i think I don’t belong in that bubble like on Tumblr you always have blocks with the same interests commenting on your work or posts. This also depends a bit on the way tumblr just works people just in general don't comment much. Why should yourself then? Sometimes you have whole blogs self-talk here you know people read but do not answer.

I don't know maybe i think me as a normal user i don't count much in case of commenting 😅😂.

But lately i often read that you blogger actually wish people would comment more so here am i. Lately I have commented brav even if they were short but sometimes do i still strugle it is wierd idk. 🥲✨️

But in general I am a huge fan of your writings i am always happy when i see you post someting.❤️

I hope you know that you can talk to me whenever!! And I definitely see where you are coming from. I didn’t interact with any other blogs for about 4 months, in fact it wasn’t until I started posting my fanfics that I started talking with other blogs, and for those four months all I did was lurk. I liked posts and I reblogged and that was about it. So, I completely understand being nervous and thinking that you don’t fit in!

Honestly, I cannot stress enough how important feedback is to content creators. And I promise you that every comment counts!!!

I promise you, hearing from new readers is amazing! It’s great to know my work is reaching a new audience! Some of the first people I talked to when joining the fandom were @nikethestatue and @thefangirlofhp and now they are some of my dearest friends! Elriels are incredibly welcoming and friendly, and I am stunned by how many friends I’ve made from this community. I’ve been in the fandom for a year now, and I don’t know if I would have lasted a year without my friends. Every relationship has to start somewhere, and I hope you get more comfortable interacting in the future. 🤍

I have talked to a few other creators about this, and we are more or less on the same page, but I certainly don’t want to speak for others without their permission. But I know others feel frustrated as well with the lack of feedback.

For myself, I spend can spend hours, days, and even weeks on a fic. I got very busy over this summer, so I could only work on YPMG a little at a time, but the latest chapter took months for me to write….and when you are dedicating so much of your time and effort on a piece of work, it can be very disheartening and discouraging if nobody reads it and/or comments on it.

Especially on tumblr, comments and feedback are the only way I really know that people have actually read my work. I will like a post so I can go back and find it at another time, or I will reblog something to signal boost and make sure that others can see it. If I reblog a fanfiction without having read it, then I’ll tag “tbr” just so the creator knows I haven’t read it yet.

Comments are incredibly encouraging!!! I am very appreciative of everyone who takes time out of their day to read my work, but comments are very special. How do I know what my readers like and don’t like if they don’t tell me? And I always start to spiral if I receive a lack of feedback on my work, and I realize that I get too much in my own head, but if a fic flops, then I just assume that it wasn’t very good and people didn’t like it.

I promise you that comments are always greatly appreciated!! 🤍🤍

I've been debating messaging for a while now, mostly because I'm just so new to this community (if I even count as being a part of it?); I knew about 'whump' long ago back on fanfiction.net and had definitely identified with it in a way I hadn't thought possible, but once I stopped going on there I went back to hiding my whumping away in my dreams and never knowing that there were like-minded people out there. I spent years thinking I was some sort of sadist and being ashamed of myself, and I still am, and am still wildly confused about it all. However, recently I found you and an influx of other 'whump' blogs and it astounded me that you all existed. I suddenly felt less alone and less like a freak. I wanted to say that your blog, among many others, is very relieving and encouraging for me, so I thank you, and I hope to learn more and more about this 'Whump' stuff and all it entails, and maybe make more sense about how I feel about it and why and all that jazz. I don't know how I'll figure that stuff out but I'm hoping to try. XD Anyway, I hope you have a lovely day, and keep up the whumpy goodness, 'cause I'm loving it. :)

The 76 Mewtwo we're created by flooding a host's body with Newtwo's DNA.

A Host/Vessel had to be very young, and Psychically gifted: Either a Psychic Pokemon with full IV, or a human child of strong Psychic type trainer parents.

The steel plates on the back of her head and upper-back are unique to her: The bottom plate has a mixture of Dread plate and Dusk stone. When introduced to her bloodstream it forces the Mewtwo DNA to almost nullify completely. leaving her with a human guise. Within the top plate, the dust of a Mind plate can be drawn upon once her 'medicine' runs out. to help with reinstating her true Mewtwo forme.

Fun Facts:

Okita loves listening to electronic music on the lowest setting (she has good hearing, like most Mewtwos).

TC was one of the first Mewtwo artists/bloggers I came across, I fell in love with their rollercoaster series, and brilliant art very quickly after trying to find out more about Newtwo. Newt from the anime (and their story) was and still is so amazing to me! such a different characteristic to her Brother. I can't thank them and other Tumblr blogs I've discovered enough for my first creative spark!

I still can't shake all my nerves about making Fanart, but I loved making this so much! Now I want to draw my OC in a GLaDOS costume for Halloween because she loves robots xD

Day Three

[This is the fourth part of a collected liveblog/analysis of Nona the Ninth!  See here for the other parts.]

In this section, the pieces start falling into place as more familiar faces finally show up!

Chapter 11

-p134 I’m amused at how Muir predicted just how much the fandom would obsess over the Pool Scene that we wouldn’t mind repeated clumsy re-enactments of it to tear apart for more specific details haha. Gideon and Harrow’s arms were where and where, you say?

On the other hand, the link to a beloved scene almost makes me think this is a feint - that it’s not the scene from GtN, but something else entirely. I can’t imagine what, though. John sealing away Alecto? The water being liquid rather than ice means it can’t be Harrow seeing Alecto for the first time or anything like that.

-p134 lmao Nona specifically saying the feelings in the Pool Scene were not sexy. *raises eyebrow at piles and piles of post-Pool Scene explicit fic*

Although honestly, Nona’s was always my interpretation of that scene - I’ve read a few of those fics, but they’re not really my cup of tea. In canon, there were so many new and conflicting and difficult emotions going on in that scene for both characters that it always feels jarring to transition it to straightforward horniness. I could see it happening later, perhaps. But not then.

-p135 So Muir wasn’t kidding in that interview about Nona wanting to talk about things that make her horny!

Nona finding flowers sexy is yet another one of those things that makes zero sense as Gideon or Harrow, but all the sense if you assume she’s Alecto/Earth. From a planet’s perspective, the shampoo ad is just another giant picture of sex organs, after all! Why wouldn’t it be extremely sexy?

[Later me: Given that Nona is indeed Alecto/Earth, I hope someone somewhere writes a fic of Nona getting off to like… watching bees pollinate flowers or other utterly nonhuman reproductive methods. Nature and sex are weird! Run with it! XD]

-p135 If Nona does end up being Gideon or Harrow, I imagine the fandom is going to spend a lot of time analyzing this scene of Nona insisting she has a deep need to know what Pal finds sexy.

After all, we did know Gideon was jealous of Pal/Harrow… plenty of ways to take that.

-p138 Oh. Hot Sauce has burns. Hot Sauce has burns and goes to the cages. She can’t be a necro because Herald madness, but hm. Hmhm. She has something to do with them.

Also, on the subject of the cages - my take on the implications here is that Pyrrha went to the cages not to rescue the people, but for info gathering and possibly to shoot them to give them quick deaths.

-p139 And now we’ve got a conversation about Pyrrha’s type. Which we kind of already knew from Wake’s notes! Woman likes to live dangerously, apparently.

-p139 I continue to enjoy how this series describes very pale white skin tones. (See also: descriptions of Ianthe and Cytherea.) I have that skin tone myself, and I hate how it’s usually romanticized and seen as the pinnacle of beauty. In reality, it is seriously gross!

Ooh, and Nona saying she doesn’t like redheads when Gideon is one… very hm. Even if Nona was very much not thinking about Gideon in her reply here, because Gideon has darker skin!

-p140 Welp, I see we’re going to have a bunch of nurse!Cam and nurse!Dulcie art and fanfic now given Pal’s answer…

I’m amused at how Nona immediately assumes Cam lied and not that she didn’t know. Which, tbf, is my read of it too.

-p140 Okay, Nona wishing she had someone else to eat food for her is both very #relatable and also something that I’ve seen in a few Gideon and Harrow fics!

Chapter 12

-Describing Crown’s golden hair - oh. OH. Ha, how did I not figure it out before? She’s Coronabeth, isn’t she? Charismatic and beautiful and committed to BOE’s cause.

Judith isn’t We Suffer, is she? Or more likely, “The Captain” from the guest list?

p144 Yup, “The Captain” is Judith!

-p148 Ah, our first look at true BOE! Apparently, they’re really into the mask aesthetic,

Which is an interesting choice isn’t it? Usually it’s the evil empire and their Stormtrooper-esque grunts  who wear the humanity and empathy-removing masks!

Of course, the coronavirus pandemic also puts another meaning/implication on the table…

-p148 Ha! We get Corona’s full BOE name! No obvious other languages in the middle, so I’m not sure where the component pieces begin and end. Looking forward to seeing analysis of it on tumblr.

-The term Ctesiphon for the BOE cells has come up several times. Another thing I’ll have to read analysis of to understand the reference.

-p149 Oh boy, writing a character (We Suffer) with an accent can be… tricky… to pull off respectfully. Is We Suffer’s just a generic accent, or is the awkward grammar meant to be similar to another real language?

-p150 Heh, a good bit of humanizing here. Despite the mask and the voice changer, this BOE bodyguard is still spoiling for a fight.

-p153 As Ianthe coined “Harry,” Corona coined “Millie.” The twins really do think alike in some ways…

-p153 So Corona is bi! *briefly considers the shippable male characters in this series* yeah no, that’s still not happening

-p154 As I thought, Varun is the BOE name for the RB. Ooh, and later we get the BOE names (codenames?) for the Lyctors too!

If I ever do make that giant character names spreadsheet, should I add a column for these names… hm… probably...

-p156 Ooh, so Cytherea was working with BOE! Good to have that confirmed. It was speculated, but unclear how much she was working with Augustine and Mercymorn or BOE.

But yeah, seems like her deal on Canaan House was personal revenge, not a BOE plot in any way

-You know I’ve been assuming zombies = necros, but I think it might be closer to just anyone from the Nine Houses? Since they were all resurrected, after all.

-p159 Ah, so Juno Zeta is part of the hostage sixteen. Expected, but that continues to make the situation even more fraught.

Chapter 13

-p162 “Our Lady of the Passion” aka Pash was the bodyguard, and Nona knew her name all along. Huh. Also, nepotism? Is she related to We Suffer or Unjust Hope, or even Wake?

-p163 Yup, we’re visiting Judith. Who is probably completely Herald-mad at this point. Man, poor girl cannot catch a break, can she?

-p165 Hmhm! Is that the RB speaking through Judith to Nona? I’m pretty sure it is! Which suggests the other RBs are probably sapient too…

-p171 Heh, of course the RB wouldn’t speak in a human tongue. And of course, Nona understands anyway!

Chapter 14

-p174 That’s pretty much confirming Jodybeth is canon, isn’t it! (Now if only they would both stop being idiots…)

At the same time wiping out Corona x Cam. (And Corona x Harrow, but does anyone ship that on its own?) Sad trombone.

-p175 I wonder who Corona was reminded of here? Perhaps more of Ianthe, but perhaps Gideon? Harrow? Someone else? >p177 Ah, I think here she’s reminded of Gideon, and previously it was Harrow.

-p177 Hm, what does Corona think Nona is? I’m imagining it’s that she’s Harrow as a full Lyctor, but that also doesn’t seem quite right….

Chapter 15

-p184 Born in the Morning is a he and his name is in a different language, I’m guessing? Because Nona doesn’t realize when she translates, so she seems to have said it in the wrong language at first here.

[Later me: It will turn out that Born in the Morning really does have ties to BOE, but if Nona is translating without realizing it, then do all names sound like that to her? Maybe Honesty is actually, idk, Veronica or Kurt or something like that, and Nona just autotranslates it to be the root meaning.]

-p184 Seems like Hot Sauce is in a group that’s even more anti-necro than BOE. Perhaps one of the anarchist factions briefly mentioned?

-p185 Ohh, was Hot Sauce an original inhabitant of the planet? And her brothers died fighting the Cohort invasion. (The explosive bodies is a specifically Fourth trick, iirc.)

Man, the subtle tragedy of the 14 year olds in this series both being soldiers on the opposite sides of a genocidal war. If Hot Sauce ever met Isaac or Jeannemary, they would literally kill each other, and not in a funny way at all…

-p189 It was pretty obvious that if the “present” of the dream was ever reality, it was Alecto and John post-perfect lyctorhood. But if there were any doubt, John is now described to have the weird, inhuman eyes.

-p190 I have a feeling this section, with the references to YouTube and streaming, may be one of the aspects of these books that ages the quickest.

-p193 We’re doing a lot to make John sympathetic here. My called shot in my HtN thoughts was that if John ends up “redeemed” or portrayed too sympathetically, it will cause a lot of furor within the fandom (based on my experiences in another fandom). *grimace intensifies*

-Also, everyone was so sure necromancy came from John killing the ten billion, but it really seems like it didn’t? Unless all of John’s story is a convenient lie… And we do know that John lies…

Chapter 16

-Come to think of it, I’m surprised “necromancer” is a banned word for Nona. Pal called it “superstition.” But that’s what they’re called in the Nine Houses??

-p197 And now we see the House propaganda tactics. Apparently they have videos and projector tech too!

-p198 Noodle was bred to have an “arboreal” pair of legs? Wild. But at least the extra legs don’t seem to be hurting him, unlike poor pugs who were bred to barely be able to breathe.

-p203 When you’re in, you’re in. Given the mention of Hokey Pokey, this was almost certainly Nona remembering John teaching Alecto. No one on the Ninth would reference that lol.

-As a reader, of course I want to see more worldbuilding of the House overtures, but in-character - the contrivances to get Nona to go to the broadcast seem a bit awkward and forced.

-p205 Huh. So House projector tech involves silvery hexagons that light up. No idea what’s going on there, if it’s meant to evoke any real tech at all.

-I’m 50/50 on whether this is genuine overtures or as the people suspect, just getting a big crowd to kill them all. Actually going up to angry people and thinking that showing a nice, happy movie would help does seem like John being his funny doofus self - but underneath the “just some guy”-isms, John’s empire is also a terrifyingly functional fascist war machine, so it’s always hard to predict which way he will swing…

-...The unrehearsed and snippy nature of the speaker of the broadcast initially makes me think Mercy. But Mercy is dead. Ianthe, then?

-p207 Brown hair, but very pale skin, hm? Oh, and the blue-brown eyes are a giveaway. Did Ianthe get Babs’s hair color because of her dip in the River at the end of HtN?

Outside chance that this is Babs somehow (if Ianthe didn’t survive the trip back from the River at all?), though in theory he should have Ianthe’s eyes if that were the case.

-p207 New Rho! We finally have a name for this planet they’re on!

-208 Ah. So this is an ultimatum directed at Corona and the rest, isn’t it.  But mostly Corona I suspect.

Also, Saint of Awe? Hmhm, I’ve seen that as a possible title for Ianthe in fics before! Did someone leak ARC details, or just a good guess?

-p220 Ulysses and Titania were Fourth, weren’t they? Some historical rhyming going on with the Fourth representatives always being seen as kids compared to the others.

But it wasn’t even clear if the FTL travel would work. Maybe they all just phased out into a planet and died. And this whole quest for revenge is meaningless.

But then, where did BOE and the human population on other planets come from, if not from the trillionaires? So who/what is John searching for?

Or was Augustine wrong about the searching part? Maybe this is more of a [uh, FFXIV spoilers I guess?] Dragonsong War situation. Just an endless meat grinder of vengeance where the continuing suffering is the entire point.

1. Do you know how you want the story to end when you start, or are you just stumbling through the figurative wilderness hoping to find a road?

UM WELL… it’s a little mix of both I believe! Often I have a vague idea for scenes I want along the way, and I also occasionally have ideas for the end! ….but it’s mostly connecting little points with pieces of red string, if I’m being honest. (Sometimes I feel like the meme… you know the one.)

3. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you enjoy incorporating romance into the average story?

Well, I haven’t incorporated Actual Romantic Elements into any of my written stories (yet), but I do like romantic subplots in stories. So I would say a solid 7?

7. Tell us about the plot of the first fanfic you ever wrote.

OH WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME ALEX…..

Looking at what I have in my notes app, it looks like the first fanfiction I ever wrote was a Mystery Skulls Animated fanfiction in which a samurai character meets an ancient kitsune and they fight I guess??? I don’t think it was ever posted anywhere, and it’s filled to the brim with just.. badly written quips and a 14-year-old Scramble’s attempt to use Big Words. I don’t think it’s ever gonna see the light of day at this point, if I’m being completely honest XD

17. What is your favorite line you’ve ever written?

Only time will tell how much I will remember by the point in which I take my leave.

Okay look so I have written a LOT of things that never got completed, and therefore there are a lot of lines I like, so I just kind of chose one at random? I think it sounds kind of neat idk

21. Pick a writer to co-write a book with and tell us what you’d write about.

Wait like. An author writer? Successful has-published-a-book-or-something writer?? Even if it’s hypothetical I’m too much of a coward to do that if I’m being honest HAHDHAH I dunno if there’s anyone like that who I could work Super Incredibly Well with just cause I’m not super duper confident that I could live up to my expectations and yeah lmao.

36. Do you base your characters off real people or not? If so, tell us about one.

Nope! If I base characters off of real people, or sometimes even use NAMES of people I know, then it reminds me WAY too much of that person and I just can’t imagine them as my own character anymore?? It just makes it difficult for me haha

48. Do you reread your own stories?

Sometimes! When I’m feeling particularly proud of things I’ve written, I like to go back and look at my stories to get an extra boost of serotonin. It feels nice doing so!

51. Share the synopsis of a story you’re working on that you haven’t posted yet.

Ah I’ve chosen a Magnus Archives fic synopsis to share cause lord knows how many wips I have for that fandom

Jon arrives to the institute late one day (which doesn’t happen. It just doesn’t!) And everyone goes ‘Jon are you okay?’

And Jon says ‘Yes :)’

In which I make an attempt at writing a sickfic because it’s something that I haven’t ever tried before? I wanted to write some hurt/comfort archives gang and thought it’d be a good idea. Haven’t worked on it in a hot minute though!

62. What’s the weirdest reason you’ve ever shipped something?

I know it’s a lame answer but I’m not actually sure, it’s all really the standard ‘I think these two would work well together’

65. What is your favourite title for a fic you’ve written? 

Okay so you’ve gotta bear with me here because I’m the WORST with titles. I’m worse at titles than I am at coming up with names which is *saying something*.

Probably ‘To stay alive’, it honestly just feels like the strongest one I’ve got (even though it’s just the last line of dialogue in the story HAHAHA)

76. What is one essential thing to remember when writing a villain? 

Oohhh this is an interesting question!

The only reason I answered your ask late is because I was rotating this question in my mind for the past 4 days. I haven’t actually written a villain before, I don’t think— so I’m not sure 😔

78. How do you choose where to end a chapter?

There’s a lot of factors that can go into ending a chapter for me!

The most common one I think is either scene changes or timeskips. They’re just really good transitions.

ALSO, though, I need to end a chapter on a line that I feel like will keep the reader hooked for the next chapter. It really doesn’t have to be a cliffhanger, just something that ends the chapter in what I think is a strong way.

87. Does your writing style change depending on the genre you write?

It used to! It doesn’t much anymore. I used to write a LOT of angst back in the day, and to put it bluntly, I think that style of writing was me trying to smack the reader as hard as I could with the angst I was writing. But when I would write fluff, I don’t think it took on some of the qualities that it did when I was writing that angst.

90. Do you notice your own voice in your writing style?

If you’re talking about my verbal actual voice, then no, but if this is referring to like. The way I write stuff, then absolutely!

96. Romantic/social sideplots: interesting or irritating?

Interesting!! Very interesting!! I feel like these offer for a lot of character development— I know main plots do this, but if your main plot is some sort of Big Grand Quest To Defeat The Bad Guy, it doesn’t give much opportunity for social character development. But having a romantic or social subplot kind of completes this!

Question: WHERE DID YOU GET THE IDEA FOR EVERARD? AS IN, WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE HIM?

I tried very hard but for some reason could not answer this directly and easily (much like the other questions). It’s was 11pm when I wrote this and my remaining brain cells had been ejected from my brain so have this rundown of how his character came to be.

1. Found a discord server that was fantasy roleplay. Looked fun but I needed a character

2. Librarian but with fire powers and also can be a tiny dragon for some reason? Fire + library = bad idea which is kind of funny

3. Jon TheMagnusArchives Season 1 has some personality aspects that I’d like to snatch for this character except make it a bit worse (You heard me: Everard started out as really pretentious and very rude.)

4. Why is the universe working against me about this. What do you mean this isn’t peak character moments. Also Everard’s last name was Bennett for some reason which I still don’t know why I chose that

5. Got an invitation to another server. It was a fantasy murder mystery and I COULDNT NOT.

6. Fantasy murder mystery takes place in a huge academy. There is an open position for a literature professor/librarian

7. ‘I should totally bring Everard over here’ and a few people despite barely knowing me wholeheartedly agree

8. Everard goes through a huge rework. Reverse his personality completely. Make him fit for teaching. Give him telekinesis instead of fire powers. Rework his backstory. Also change his last name to Thompson because it fits better

9. Everard Bennett (grumpy librarian with fire and shapeshifting abilities and also some anger issues) turns into Everard Thompson (jittery literature professor with telekinesis and is really just trying his best).

uhhhhh i love the sensation of impending doom when you know a plot twist will be there at the end of the road specially in fantasy!!

i’m into two povs when it’s like Julia Quinn and other period authors do it or two first person povs in contemporary romances but the latter can trigger some self deprecating thoughts so i tend to avoid them when i know it’s gonna be too passionate

Oh dear, here we go, you should not have asked me that question. TOG is a sensitive topic here xD You see, you are asking the wrong person and now I'm gong to have a word vomit. You opened a can of worms! The following is completely my personal opinion and doesn't represent others. (I hope noone will bash me)

You see, I loved Acotar. I fell in love with it. I'm still obsessing over it. So, I had high hopes for TOG. But it was a complete and utter disappointment. I rated the Throne of Glass series 2 and 3 stars out of 5. I suffered and suffered through books after books. I usually read 700 pages on a good day. These 8 books took me 1.5 months to finish.

I kind liked book one, because I love Dorian, I adore my princeling, but then Chaol was meh and I couldn't stand Celaena whilst Rowan didn't do it for me either. The only reason I kept going with this series, even though the characters were meh and the story was mild, was because Dorian and Manon were brilliant. Even Lorcan was intriguing. But if those three weren't in the books, I would have DNFed the very first book in my life.

I know why people like it, I can see why they would like it and I respect that, but for me it was a freaking struggle. So all in all, does it get better after the first two books? Yes, because new interesting characters come along. But the plot is still mild, most of the characters are boring or arrogant and the way it's written, jumping between multiple povs as if you were travelling between events like when you accidentally flip 5 pages at a time, made me physically (I'm not lying) pull my hair. So, do with that information what you will.

Yes, I get you, but then those teenage, whining, pinning books are usually targeted for teenagers. So obviously they will be slightly more cringey. I don't think it's bad though, it's just different. As an adult, I do prefer the snarky, steamy pinning, but when I was a teenager, I could melt at those cringey teenage pinning scenes xD

I do plan to read 'People we meet on vacation', but I'm on a book buying ban until August so I have to read what's on my shelf :D I'm glad you actually said "how disappointing was Book Lovers" because I can go into it with a bit more scepticism and I won't be as disappointed if it's bad. But then I heard so much good about it (BookTok) that at this point I just have to decide for myself. I will read it after I finish my current read and can I ask you to rant to me about it once I finished? :D

Okay, I'm going to be very transparent with you about Tessa Bailey. Is she my favourite author? Nope! Are her stories excellent? Nope! But she is good and her stories have some sort of an edge. I personally have a love hate relationship with her books. I don't like them like I'm intrigued by the characters or they have amazing plot lines. They don't. But at the same time, I can't put them down. I can't explain to you what it is. They piss me off, but I love them. Do I even make sense? Anyway, I always recommend her because of my ambivalent feelings about her books xD

The basic premise is that Eli, being the shameless adrenaline junkie that he is, takes Demetri walking around on the edge of a tall building, where he goes to forget all the painful memories of the dojo war and Cobra Kai and such. It switches between the boys’ POVs, and the way they describe each other is just...*chef’s kiss* like they both have such heart eyes and are totally oblivious to it until the very end, it’s great! And at the end, when it all comes together...man, I get legit CHILLS every time Eli says “I love you too.” I’M TELLING YOU, IT HITS DIFFERENT.

Your Kiss is the Best Drug by H8tedHannah They have their first kiss while high!!! Them getting high in general and High Demetri especially is pretty damn funny, but it’s also highkey wholesome. It includes one of my absolute favorite Binary Boyfriends tropes, i.e. Demetri tells Eli how much he loves his little lip scar. Every time I see it, I melt into a puddle of tears.

Taking Flight by solarphoenix Eli goes over to Demetri’s house after getting jumped by Cobra Kai post Season 3. They hang out, and we get to see them just having fun together!!! And BANTERING in a way that gave me a serotonin boost to last the next 10 years! And a little hurt/comfort with Demetri treating Eli’s wounds and we get a glimpse of their childhood together and when Demetri first started pining. AND THEY KISS! And exchange more smartass comments directly afterwards, it’s glorious XD

you can’t even see how much you’re mine by citriciel The perfect blend of angst, these boys actually TALKING THROUGH THEIR ISSUES, Demetri getting to be rightfully angry but still forgiving Eli because he always, always does, both of the disaster boys apologizing, banter and punch-flirting, and, best of all, DEMETRI KISSING ELI’S SCAR. HELL YES, LITERALLY MY FAVORITE BINARY BFS TROPE EVER??? If I don’t fuckin tear up every time I read “I love the way it stretches when you smile” ;___; And a saucy makeout sesh too!!! Plus, the way Demetri teases Eli at the end is utterly priceless XD

The Cobra Effect by slrandomperson Another go-to when I don’t have any new Binary Boyfriends fics to read, honestly. Basically an AU where Demetri manages to get through to Eli when he has him held down in the laser tag place, and Eli doesn’t break Demetri’s arm. Afterwards Demetri, of course, makes Eli hang out with him a bunch to make it up to him XD Has another one of my favorite Binary Boyfriends tropes--Demetri falling in love with BOTH sides of Eli--the timid, quiet, nerdy one and the cocky, snarky, and confident Hawk-esque one. And DEMETRI apologizing for trying to hold Eli back when he wanted to change and gain more confidence, even though it came from a place of fear of losing Eli??? HERE FOR IT. Also a lovely portrayal of Autistic Eli struggling with social cues and not picking up on things that seem “obvious” to others, and I am ALWAYS down for Autistic Eli!!! I mean...it’s basically canon, but super-convincing portrayals can be rare, and this fic NAILS it. Also, the BANTER??? Incredible. 10/10. And Eli kissing SUPER aggressively is always gonna be a YES in my book!

Leave the Past in the Past by agoldengalaxy Would you like to see Hawk going ABSOLUTELY FERAL protecting Demetri from the Cobras??? Look no further! Am I a misogynist for thoroughly enjoying when Hawk goes into full beating-up-Brucks mode on Tory after she tries to fuck up Demetri? I sure hope not, because I loved every minute of it! And they smooch at the end!

3 times Eli held Demitri and 1 time Demitri held him by Thejoysofcreativity Just a REALLY great hurt/comfort fic and a pretty realistic take on how the trauma of Eli breaking Demetri’s arm would play out for both of them, even after they make up. This fic is actually where I got my headcanon of Eli hurting Demetri during sparring sometimes triggering panic attacks for Eli. And Demetri obviously trusts Eli again on a mental and emotional level, but physically he’s...still scared of him, which is depressing as hell but also heartbreakingly realistic. Also I am ALWAYS down for the Cobras hurting Demetri and Eli UTTERLY FREAKING THE FUCK OUT and realizing his feelings, it’s always just *chef’s kiss* Nothing to match an anguished love confession on death’s doorstep!

How to Inhabit a Body by unsaid_eddie An AU where Hawk and Eli get split into two bodies, and they gotta figure out how to conjoin again with Demetri’s help! When I first read the synopsis I was like “that’s so goddamn wacky, I don’t know if I can jive with that” but it’s executed like...amazingly??? Like a surprisingly brilliant take on the whole “Eli/Hawk finds balance/union between the ‘Eli’ and ‘Hawk’ parts of his personality” thing, and seeing Hawk and Eli finally admit the things they actually like about each other was surprisingly cathartic. And seeing Eli’s take on his feelings for Demetri vs. Hawk’s take on his feelings for Demetri was somehow equally hilarious and heartbreaking. Also Demetri’s sarcasm here is A+, what an absolute savage legend.

Sparrowhawk by cc tinslebee Demetri and Moon talk about the gradual progression from “Eli” to “Hawk,” and how hard it was for both of them. Because they both loved his soft side :( A really great Demetri and Moon friendship fic (love their dynamic!!!), and I loved the epiphany they both have at the end that Hawk and Eli aren’t separate entities, but exist to balance each other out--one can’t exist without the other, and that’s okay. And the ending was JUST SO CUTE, like Moon seeing Eli and Demetri being together and friends again after the Christmas fight and knowing there’s A Thing going on between them, but not prying about it in case they’re not comfortable having it out in the open? Her being totally all right with it as long as Demetri’s happy and being treated well??? PURE

With Friends By Your Side by cc tinslebee Basically a fic exploring how Hawk processes Demetri having made several new close friends in his absence and basically ALL of them being suspicious AF of him, including none other than Hawk’s very own ex girlfriend!!! An utterly excellent time, and a fantastic way to indugle all of the many BroTPs I have for our boi Demetri! Also Hawk and Sam bonding over how freaked out Demetri was by Sam being in a hit-and-run (even funnier that it was JOHNNY) is PRICELESS. Moon and Hawk attempting to have a one-on-one conversation with some of that ex awkwardness still floating around is honestly pretty funny, too. ANYWAYS WHOLESOME FRIENDSHIP FLUFF FTW

Watch your back by Veirtyel For starters, I absolutely ADORE the initial look at Eli and Demetri's friendship AFTER it’s been fully rekindled after the christmas fight--no sitting through a bunch of tension and awkwardness this time, we just get straight to them being comfortable around each other and having fun together and teasing each other like they used to and sometimes that’s EXACLY what I need. Like as much as I love The Drama, sometimes I just wanna skip to the part where they’re bffs again, you feel? And Demetri and Eli??? Talking about Nerd Shit and also roasting the Star Wars prequels together??? Literally ALWAYS down for that, I just wanna see nerds being nerds and having nerdy conversations and nerdy arguments about nerd shit. EXCELLENT. After how CRUSHED Eli was after that scene, and how much I KNOW Demetri wanted to prove Kyler the Megadouche wrong, this was BEYOND cathartic. Also, nothing will ever be funnier to me than Demetri not noticing Eli’s texts...because he’s busy scouring the internet trying to figure out if he’s gay for Eli XD And Demetri kisses him??? Spoilers for My Valentine by Asphodelia A recent favorite! I read this while gorging myself on a bunch of discount candy I bought the day after Valentine’s Day, which made it all the better XD This was so great, like Demetri just utterly trolling Hawk by getting him all these genuinely thoughtful little gifts that spoil the shit out of all the “nerd shit” he used to watch is the perfect blend of hilarious and adorable. And Demetri being a cocky little shit about his big master scheme to lure Eli back to the side of the light, and bragging about said scheme to Miguel??? Priceless. Also, the flashback to little Eli giving little Demetri all of his valentines because he didn’t didn’t like anyone else in their class??? Incredible. 10/10. An inspiration. And Eli’s utter obliviousness that Demetri is into him is, of course, priceless. And Demetri’s simple little love poems to Eli toward the end were just so understatedly sweet. Honestly, this one was entirely worth it solely for the line “Are you trying to fuck the nerd back into me?” Absolutely iconic.

Indelible by Emma_Oz So someone basically took the idea of Hawk saying “You may be a pussy, but you’re MY pussy” to Demetri and made it into a fanfiction...and it’s actually brilliant??? The slow evolution of Hawk going from calling Demetri pussy (derogatory) to pussy (affectionate) is just...fantastic??? And one of the rare examples of a soulmate-esque AU I can actually get into...I’m usually not big into soulmate AUs, if mainly because I’m not crazy about the whole there’s-a-person-you’re-cosmically-obligated-to-date thing XD But this one was EXCELLENT, especially with Hawk having the slow realization that being a “pussy” the way Johnny and Kreese talk about isn’t inherently a bad thing. And him learning to appreciate Demetri for not running headfirst into every fight and settling everything with his fists like an idiot “badass?” HERE. FOR. IT. Also seeing a bit of their childhood friendship and Demetri’s unrequited love angst was just *chef’s kiss*, even though it made my heart hurt real bad. Worth it in the end, though!

Friends Kiss, Right? by AKW_aka_Awkward A pretty great fic my buddy wrote based on the headcanon that’s been floating around in the Binary Boyfriends fandom that Demetri and Eli definitely did some romantic stuff pre-Cobra Kai without actually realizing it was romantic because...they were each other’s only friend, so they had no basis of comparison XD Seeing all of Demetri’s friends react to him thinking giving your friends comfort kisses ON THE MOUTH was normal was downright hilarious. Also the fact that Demetri has to seriously consider whether he would make out with Miguel before going “mmmm not into it” and Anthony’s brief but brilliant cameo are the BEST FUCKIN THING.

Balance by scifigeek14 Probably the best take I’ve seen on the “Hawk and Demetri use the balance wheel!” trope. And, of course, lots of bantering and talking about nerd shit, which I am ALWAYS down for. And Hawk and Demetri apologizing to each other!!! In depth!!! AND DEMETRI BEING JUST UTTERLY IN LOVE WITH BOTH HAWK AND ELI??? EMBRACING BOTH HIS BEST FRIEND’S SIDES AND LOVING THEM BOTH WITH ALL HIS HEART??? Also bonsai tree trimming and symbolism??? Daniel LaRusso having snark to rival Demetri’s simultaneously with ancient wisdom about balance and trust??? Demetri asking Eli to be his boyfriend VIA BONSAI TREE (it makes sense in context, I promise)??? LIVING. FOR. IT.

Who You Are Inside by Asphodelia A Golden Compass AU!!! Excellent!!! Demetri’s daemon being a chameleon was surprisingly brilliant--I honestly imagined it being a cat or something, but a chameleon actually fits so much better, considering he always wanted to be invisible. And the part where his daemon is walking around his desk imitating Hawk had me fucking WHEEZING. Also Eli’s daemon as a smol angeri bird, divebombing him? PRICELESS. A bonus is that the daemons for the other characters are also like 1000% appropriate, especially Miguel’s and Johnny’s.  A very good time indeed!

Multi-Parters

It’s the connection we cannot series by tudou4646 Basically just a series of really wholesome one-shots about Demetri and Hawk dating, starting after Hawk gets ambushed by the Cobras and Demetri realizes his feelings for him (and Hawk and Demetri??? Realizing via massive freakout when one of them gets hurt that they’re into each other??? I LIVE FOR THAT SHIT). It shows little snippets of their relationship after the dojo merge and it’s just CUTE AS FUCK. 10/10 banter and fluff, would read again. Also in the latest chapter they cosplay as Starlord and Gamora!!! My god, I was SCREAMING.

Flowers for You by WanderingSpiritCC The fic that taught me what the fuck a hanahaki AU actually is!!! Basically a look at the events of Season 3 from Hawk’s POV, but with him being...more explicitly aware that he’s in unrequited love with Demetri D: Also showcases how Hawk fights physically and Demetri fights with words pretty amazingly. Includes such other desirable tropes as Kreese being an absolute fuck, Demetri rambling and complaining about the movie endlessly all throughout Movie Night, Demetri talking a lot in general and Hawk absolutely loving it, adorable flashbacks to them both being younger and Demetri and Demetri alone getting Eli through the really hard days, and of course the Cobras fucking Hawk up and Demetri UTTERLY FREAKING OUT because OH GOD NO PLEASE DON’T HURT MY LITTLE ELI HE IS MY ENTIRE WORLD DON’T YOU DARE TAKE HIM AWAY FROM ME (--Demetri any time Hawk/Eli gets hurt, probably). (You Can’t Handle) Somebody Loving You by hunkydorkling Oh my, someone is sneaking Demetri LOVE NOTES! Who could it be??? Heh, a lovely valentine’s day fic featuring one of my all-time favorite fanfic tropes--one half of the OTP sneaks the other love notes and shenanigans ensue!!! I even tried writing one of these fics, back in the day XD ANYWAYS this satisfied alllll my jealous!Hawk needs, and also??? Demetri being an idiot??? For 6 chapters straight??? Utterly fantastic. Also just really loved the dynamic between Hawk, Miguel, and Demetri in this, and the pretty realistic take on what a friendship between Hawk and Demetri would actually look like after they’ve grown back together after the Christmas fight, but Hawk still being the snarky, overconfident, hot-tempered fuck that he is and also salty as all hell about how oblivious Demetri is XD. And at the end, THEY WRASSLE! THEY SMOOCH! THEY ARE NO LONGER PAINFULLY OBLIVIOUS TO THE FACT THEY ARE IN LOVE! GLORIOUS! And Demetri yelling at Hawk to not be so self-loathing or he’ll beat him up??? The serotonin rush was UNREAL.

Can’t Fight This Feeling by SlySilver Another recent favorite! Do you like Sadboi Eli??? Do you love hurt/comfort fics??? This is the fic for you!!! Admittedly the they/them pronouns for Eli took a little getting used to, but I think the nonbinary Eli idea is a really fascinating concept and I love reading people’s takes on it! And of course, I am absolutely ALWAYS a slut for fics that have Autistic Eli on display, in his/their full glory!!! Like man, I eat that shit up like Halloween candy. There’s a part where Eli gets super stressed out and goes nonverbal for a bit, but Eli and Demetri worked out kind of a hand-tapping language to use in those kind of situations when they were kids so that they can still communicate, and reading about it makes me absolutely WEAK because that is ADORABLE. Plus Sam and Miguel show up and hang with the dudes!!! Sam and Eli talk things out!!! Like the fluff???? Demetri being a supportive boyfriend??? Eli getting to heal from their trauma??? Excellent. Utterly flawless.

Breaking the Hawk by OptimisticallyCynical Well, I can hardly compile a list of quality Hawkmetri fanfiction without mentioning this one, now can I? It started out as basically a super dark take on the question “What if Demetri just..snapped?” Like what if he finally had enough of Hawk’s bullying and abuse, and just decided to use their past relationship to get the ultimate revenge and mindfuck Hawk into absolute oblivion? I’ll admit, for a while I was just following because I was morbidly curious what utterly fucked up thing would happen next XD But then Demetri and Hawk actually...talk through their issues eventually??? And start dating??? I was not expecting the surprisingly wholesome turn, but I’m absolutely not complaining. And in later chapters, we get an interesting subplot of Robby becoming close friends with Hawk, and both Demetri and Hawk have to reconcile their close friendships with Robby with their close friendships with Miguel, since Miguel and Robby reeeeally don’t like each other. This story has been, and continues to be, an utterly wild ride, but you best believe I’m in it for the long haul.

Second Chances by Asphodelia A wacky magic AU where Demetri uses some supernatural meddling to accidentally swap the “Hawk” from his timeline with the earlier “Eli” from another timeline, so essentially Hawk and Eli swap places and shenanigans and angst ensue. Honestly both really interesting and lowkey heartbreaking to see how Hawk interacts with pre-Cobra Kai Demetri when he’s launched back into that relationship, and how Eli reacts to suddenly having a bright red mohawk and being in the middle of a dojo war where he’s pitted against his best friend. Also Hawk trying to karate-train pre-Cobra Kai Demetri so he can be “toughened up” by the time the inevitable dojo war comes into the picture, and Demetri being utterly appalled at the thought of him and Eli ever hurting each other, even if it’s just in sparring??? Excuse me while I go cry.

Right now it’s still pre-Hawk, but it’s full of fluff and wholesome friendship moments and Demetri and Eli just blatantly crushing on each other and it’s great <3 Honestly a really great interpretation of what their friendship might’ve been like in Season 1, behind the scenes. Also the angst in this absolutely GIVES ME LIFE, even though it makes my heart hurt. Demetri’s anger, while hurting to read, is super realistic. And I really love Eli’s steely determination to fix ALL the broken relationships in his life--not just with Demetri, but with Miguel and Johnny too!!! Elimetri may be Best Ship but we DO NOT disregard the other important relationships in Eli’s life in this house. Also ELI HAS A LITTLE SISTER WHO LOVES DEMETRI, I’M DYING, THAT’S SO CUTE

Getting Back to Us by AKW_aka_Awkward Do you like angst??? Do you like reading about the Cobras targeting Demetri to get revenge on Hawk and then Hawk going absolutely fucking FERAL because he will NOT have that shit??? Do you want to see poor Hawk have a breakdown over Deme getting hurt and get some heartwarming moments where Johnny and Daniel attempt to comfort their Disaster Son??? This is the fic for you! Also Demetri having a foster mom and a not-great home life in general was a really interesting take that I don’t see a lot and a pretty neat concept to explore. Although it DOES add some tension between Eli and Demetri when Eli’s forced to reveal Demetri’s in the foster system, which made my heart ache even more than it already does for them every day D: Here’s to hoping my boys can be happy eventually!!!

4. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I do, on occasion, respond! Though I may use a lot of words while writing, when it comes to communication? I suck. XD But, I do get extremely, extremely excited whenever I see a comment in my inbox, and I do go back and re-read them when I’m feeling down about my writing! I usually respond when a person asks questions, but I try to read them as rhetoric since I don’t want to spoil too much! X3 So, to everyone who has left me comments on my fics: THANK YOU. I do really appreciate and adore them. :3

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Many of my short fics (those ranging from one to two chapters) all end relatively happy. I like angst, but I also enjoy making characters that are usually somber and stressed a little lighter. :3 If we want to get technical, then the first several chapters of my main fic all have rather angsty endings because the beginning of Fane’s journey is...heh. It’s not easy, and it’s not supposed to be. 

Although, now that I look, a very old fic of mine called ‘A Dragon’s Guilt’ has a rather angsty ending. Basically, Solas’ frescoes in the rotunda send Fane into a momentary spiral, and it was me playing with Adamant possibilities before he was ‘set in stone’. Panic attacks and mixed memories galore! :D

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

*rifes through my fics* Uhhhh... All of them? :3 Okay, okay! No, if I had to choose it would have to be...one of the short stories in ‘Dragon Drabbles’. It’s a four part story (and my first hand at smut >:3) that’s titled ‘Existence is Not a Sin’. It starts off angsty, but by the end it’s so sweet, so sickeningly sweet that I’m like, “...How did I write this?” X’D ...I’m actually thinking of re-writing a lot of my previous fics just to see if I’ve improved with writing! :D

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I do not write crossovers, but I’m open to the idea! Sadly, my brain hyperfixates on one thing at time, so my imagination is limited. X’D

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I haven’t, and I’m very grateful that I haven’t. To be honest, when I started writing and posting, I expected to get hate (prepare for the worst, you know?) because I was doing something that wasn’t really the ‘norm’ for a lot of people. After all, people are entitled to their own interpretations and mine some times don’t link up with someone else’s. I understand that, and I respect that, but some people...don’t offer the same courtesy. All I’ll say is, if you don’t enjoy my content, don’t read it. We’re all adults, so shrug your shoulders, say, “Not for me”, and move on. Just know that if you do leave a hate comment, you will receive no reply, no fuel. So, don’t waste your time and don’t waste mine. Simple as that. I’m here to share and make people smile, not argue. :3

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I have. Once, and I for the life of me can’t figure out how to do it again. X’D I’m very into soft intimacy; gestures and actions that speak a thousand words. Close positions (missionary, straddling, etc.) and a lot of eye contact with some healthy crying in the mix. *winks* I’m kind of inching towards a theme of ‘body worship’ when it comes to Fane and Solas because those two.. *sighs* They really need to shown that they are beautiful people; inside and out.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I have not. Thank God. XD All I’ll say is this though, you steal my fic, my son and claim them as your own? *gets close to the screen* I will track you down and demand a talk. Don’t steal other’s hard work. Don’t. Writing is not easy, and it takes weeks, months, years for authors to pump out their inspiration, so don’t steal that labor just because you want to say you could. Same goes for drawings and pieces of art. Don’t.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

I haven’t! English is my first language, but I understand some French! :D 

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No, I haven’t, but the idea is intriguing to me sometimes! I’m just a tad unreliable due to how my mood ebbs and flows. I have very long dry spells. X’D

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Solavellan! >:D While I write solely M!Lavellan/Solas, I do support all genders and orientations for the ship! Because I didn’t get into the ship because of what I saw, it’s what it meant to me. 

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

*side eyes my main fic* LISTEN. It’s coming! I swear. I’m just having intense writer’s block with my main fic, and I’m not sure why. That’s why I’ve been messing with prompts and drabbles. X’D There’s also my modernAU, too.. *sweats* TIIIIIME! WHERE ARE YOU?!

What are your writing strengths?

Describing emotions. I like emotions. Emotions are nice. :3

What are your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue. Mainly because Fane...doesn’t speak much at the beginning of his journey. He’s very curt, short, so I have hard time incorporating other’s reactions to him. I’m getting better though, I think! :D

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I’m for it! Sometimes that little splash of altering dialect can draw someone in and establish a connection! Language connects us, and it’s never too late to try and learn so as to reach out to another! :D

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Dragon Age, my beloved~ 

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

A short story of mine called ‘Blood in the Snow’. It was one of my very first fics and it was the first time I was like, ‘This Lavellan is my muse. I can do so much with him.’ It was just so fun to write a vulnerable moment for Fane, but still keep him locked up. ...It was also where I went, ‘Oh. This is Solavellan Hell. I wasn’t meant to go there, but I DID.’ X’D

Lol, I watched tonight's episode and my first thought was oh man you're gonna have so much to say about this 😂 I mean THE AMBULANCE SCENE, the fact that Buck is Christopher's guardian for a YEAR (meaning that happened like same time as law suit right? the universe time line is a little confusing sometimes), like I've actually read fanfics where these happens!!! (Also Hens scene in the park 🥺 and ALBERT) Everyone's so happy. I think Buddies current relationships are necessary tho. I don't dislike Ana but I think her and Taylor maybe feel guilty if they aren't with them bc they got hurt or something. How you feeling?

Awwww, hi Nonnie! I'm afraid to say you were right and I did have a lot to say. XD And I still left out a few bits due to the post's length... I'm so sorry! It's not my fault, the show just threw a lot at me! lol But I hope you enjoyed it. And the lawsuit (ep 304-5) actually happened before Eddie changed his will (315), but think about what that means. Eddie was SO HURT over what Shannon had done, it took him a very long time to forgive her and even longer to be willing to trust her again. Buck? We knew he forgave him almost immediately (Buck just had to say he's sorry and bam, Eddie was good). And we knew he trusted Buck again, we see it in things like how he consults Buck after Chris's skateboard incident in 312, but now we know just HOW DEEPLY he trusted him again, and so shortly after Eddie was so incredibly angry and hurt. It is AMAZING and I am never going to be over how much these morons love each other, okay? And yes, I loved everything, I'm happy Albert will be a teammate and the Henren scene in the park added ten years to my life. And I just wanna make sure I got you correctly - did you mean you think Ana and Taylor feel guilty over not being with Eddie and Buck due to the guys getting physically / emotionally hurt? I'd love to hear from you so I can give you the best answer I can! xoxox
