sorry not to be negative or anything i think a lot of the jokes about maria dying are funny but am i the only one who thinks that its taking it a liiiittle too far to flood the comments of the live action actors posts with stuff about how shes gonna get shot or you cant wait to see her die (and yes this is actually happening im not making up a guy to get mad at)

im probably the very last person who should say anything about fashion but i always have very strong Opinions on costumes in movies/tv so. putting a read more here lmao

the tos uniforms Specifically the s1+2 velour ones – imo the light and shadow looks more interesting on that texture than the s3 ones. + big fan of the idea with them being not super structured and Not military, with exception for the rank braids and starfleet emblem. also the black collar is sewn on but i like the implication of layers im a big layers fan

also love the wrath of khan uniforms because while i do love the idea of a less structured uniform to be less militaristic i also uh. love structure. but its good at being its own unique thing rather than looking straight up militant like the aos red and grey ones

im a little over halfway through tng rn and i really like the uniforms in it!! except the red and yellow switch up. also i was struggling with seasons 1+2 because before they changed the material and added the collar they were horrendous lmao the material was so so so bad

havent watched anything besides those yet though so its not a super reliable opinion rn lmao

14th doctors costume is interesting.

it's making a lot of obvious nods to 10s costume, it's especially reminiscent of the blue suit and brown coat combo, but now with the colors inverted. which also works bc it leaves him with a brown suit, and the brown suit is his most iconic look. and obviously it's patterned but instead of light blue stripes its like... gingham? is that the name?

but w all the nods to 10s costume, it has little in common with what actually make 10s costume distinctive and unique. 10s costume most distinctive aspect is how shabby it looks, it's ill-fitting, the fabric is thin and cheap, and instead of looking timeless it looks both dated and too modern at the same time.

meanwhile 14s costume is a lot more "proper", the fabric looks way less cheap and has a lot more texture. it's not fitted but it's definitely not as remarkably ill-fitting as 10s costume. and the shirt is buttoned up all the way, and his tie is tied properly and everything. and it's interesting too, because they're definitely still going for "shabby", but the converse and stupid hair and weirdly buttoned vest has to do all the heavy lifting.

so the resulting costume is just for the most part less interesting? the only notable aspect of it is that it's a remix of the 10th doctor. if there was no 10th doctor there'd be very little to say about it, there's little that stands out among the lineup of other doctor outfits it just seems like fairly regular menswear for the most part. says very little about 14 himself.

i think the one interesting part about it is the vest. he doesn't actually wear the coat a lot of the time and having a vest instead of a jacket with sleeves, he just ends up giving the impression of being more vulnerable and naked and smaller, which actually does say something about 14.

#ofc that last part isnt entirely unique to 14 if i know my doctors 11 first costume doesnt even have anything under his tweed jacket #its just his shirt. so he can easily do the same thing and take the jacket off for the same effect. but i dont think he does that much #idk this isnt even a criticism of 14s costume coz i do like it. and i appreciate the effort to make it distinctive from 10s #but its still purely derivative. and ofc it is. its just david tennant as the doctor again the only thing you can do is remix his old one #like thats the obvious and correct thing to do #so the only thing the costume says And is intending to say is The doctor is Not tenth doctor anymore #doctor who #fourteenth doctor
