ok the objectively correct but also boring answer is tsukihi. but shes a shoo-in so i dont wanna talk about her. she doesnt count she's unbeatable! realistically, if ougi were to be doing a bmx race and be faced with her, they would simply Not Race lol

ok first i will talk about the people who wouldn't cheat. (spoilers up to nademonogatari under the cut meaning nademonogatari is included)

kanbaru would not cheat she would want to do it fair and square. she would train for the occasion but she doesnt know how to ride a bike (semi canonically? idk how canonical the audio commentaries are) so she’d probably struggle, and even though she’s athletic i can’t imagine she’d win or get close to it (rip). karen would have the best chances of winning legitimately. i’d imagine she probably knows how to ride a bike bc shes got easy access since koyomi is always riding them. and her level of fitness is absolutely insane, so she could pull it off. but ougi has lots of bicycle experience, and does like tricks and stuff for it. and they can do crazy stunts without worrying about damage to the user. so its a toss up here, but karen could win. hanekawa would not win. ougi would not allow it, their pride would not allow it. hanekawa would try to win, as part of her rivalry with them. but ougi would probably rather die than allow her to win especially when it concerns a hobby of theirs so they dont its as simple as that. i dont think hanekawa would be too much of a challenge, but she’s very powerful and unpredictable so ougi would take no chances. eliminate with extreme prejudice. now for the last of the non-cheaters, koyomi (surprisingly). dont get me wrong he would absolutely cheat against like at least half of the other cast if he felt like he couldn’t win easily or if he started losing. but he would be way too terrified to cheat against ougi. and there’s absolutely no way he wins against ougi without cheating, i mean come on. ougi can do cool little tricks and knows all his weaknesses. i think he would keep up decently at first but ultimately be completely destroyed near the end of the race.

ok now for the cheaters 😈 (spoilers: none of them could win)

nadeko would cheat here because she would know that she has no chance of winning whatsoever if she doesnt, and she doesnt really like ougi all that much so she doesnt feel too bad about it. now the WAY she decides to cheat varies. nadeko would much rather rely on her own abilities instead of asking yotsugi or tsukihi for help, so she might draw a shikigami of anti-nadeko (or a more cooperative version with the same strength) to throw/boost her instead, which you could argue is technically not cheating because its still her own power moving the bmx. senjougahara really cheats? no dignity! she would act like shes gonna do it fair and square and then totally shamelessly cheat bc she doesnt think she can win at all. i think she would race normally, and then once ougi got far ahead enough she would try to cut ahead by going off the tracks and taking a shortcut. i think i can picture a universe where sodachi cheats so heres what she’d do. and she’s probably the most creative one about it. i think, given her penchant for careful and precise planning, she would add obstacles to the course. its hard to do and it would take a while, but its also hard to check for if you do it right. she wouldnt even necessarily have to buy materials either, assuming the race doesnt happen somewhere built for the purpose of bicycle racing. she could just move stuff from the general terrain around the course to make it look like it was something that happened by accident, while having knowledge of where the traps were and how to get past them. think like moving around rocks and boulders, small logs and dirt piles and stuff like that. stuff that could put the bicycle off balance, or would require slowing down or rerouting, especially stuff that looks deceptively harmless. shinobu would cheat, but not intentionally, she just has no interest in the rules and doesnt intend to learn what they are. so the moment the race starts, in order to “get to the goal the fastest” she goes off track. yotsugi ABSOLUTELY cheats, but probably not in an interesting way. she just uses unlimited rulebook to boost her bike into the air. i think she potentially maybe could use it to just speed up, but i think she wouldnt have the patience for that at all and would rather just skip the whole race asap. mayoi is unable to ride the bmx. she just isn’t good at it. she’s small and its kinda big and unwieldy so its just hard to do. i think her cheat would be the kind of cheat that doesnt really have much practical chance of succeeding long term, like tying her bmx to ougi’s so she can get pulled along. i think she’d try to frame it as like a cooperative thing like let’s get to the finish line together type deal. but i cant see her having the heart to actually betray someone right at the finish line, so she would just lose. she probably wouldnt care that much anyway

but the reason why not just hachikuji but none of the cheaters would have a chance at winning is because while ougi could potentially be miffed at losing, there’s no way they’d let a cheater slip by. and they’d have a lot of fun catching the cheats and working around them. they would examine for possible cheats based on the opponent and prepare countermeasures far in advance-- all in all, cheating is bad against ougi because its like when you pirate a game and the final boss becomes impossible to beat on your copy. youre ramping up the difficulty to such an extreme level that its better to just do it legit. ougi’s ability and desire to win probably increases exponentially if their opponent is cheating, as well as their enjoyment of the race.

here’s how they would deploy the countermeasures:

ougi would definitely anticipate the shikigami move and have some countermeasures in mind. i imagine they might try to convince anti-nadeko she’s being used for a silly purpose (she is) and make her not want to help, OR the much more Fun way they would go to the drawing in the notebook right before nadeko brings it to life and erase the arms without nadeko noticing. so it has no arms and can’t help her. oops! senjougahara’s move... it’s just kinda silly. i think it’s too silly for ougi to prepare anything really crazy. if anything they prolly just pick to do the race at a time + place where the shortcuts aren’t actually helpful at all. like construction blocking the way, rocky terrain, that sort of thing. and then they’d just do the race and win normally sodachi’s planning is her own downfall as usual :( ougi is very cool and just uses the added obstacles as like ramps and shit. and uses the ramps to go over harder obstacles, or just fucking lifts the bmx up somehow like in otorimongatari. and sodachi just doesnt have that kinda technical prowess, or the ability to predict that someone would be able to do that (which is reasonable). rip as for shinobu, she’s instantly disqualified so ougi just goes off track with her for the hell of it (and wins anyway, of course) yotsugi’s impatience gets the best of her here-- she’d have had a lot easier time if she had just tried to speed herself up, but by attempting a leap she leaves herself wayy more open to counterattacks. i think ougi would choose the most slapstick way of going about this so i’d imagine that, understanding that unlimited rulebook involves a lot of explosive force, they would bring a slingshot to the race. and they’d wait till yotsugi tried to use the rulebook and then with one perfectly placed projectile, knock yotsugi’s foot to the side juuust so, so that the angle of the leap is altered, and she goes careening away at high speed. teehee shouldnt have cheated! of course yotsugi would be fine even after a crash bc shes a doll, so its okay to go for more dangerous counterattacks in ougi’s mind. for hachikuji, she wouldnt have the opportunity to not betray ougi bc she wouldnt get to the finish line tow truck/three legged race style in the first place. she would be like “lets get there together” and ougi would just pull out a pair of scissors and be like “nope ✂” even though they know she probably wouldnt even try to win. they are just devious like that

so yeah none of the cheaters would win. ougi would want more of them to cheat so they could win anyway and have fun with it. like ooh youre cheating now i can be evil. honestly same

Character I find most attractive:

tossup between vonel and calensk. vonel may be a short king but he's got style for days, and calensk is just my type.

Character I would marry:

half the cast has like. canon relations with eachother or someone else in some way, shape, or form, but canon be damned? calensk probably. hes very much a guy after my own heart. second places is, again, m. vonel, but he's basically arstotzkan secret service so i don't know if he's an eligible bachelor or if he's married to his job.

a random thought:

i like how the entire game is like. yeah its a big downer but there's the ability to do good throughout the whole game. its all grays of various shades, but you have two times you can 'mess up' per day- and sometimes just once is all you need to help keep a couple together, or make sure someone can have access to life saving medicine.

hello! I was wondering if you had any tips on how to get people to see you as your gender? like specifically people who knew you before you came out. for example my dad uses my name and stuff but he still constantly misgenders me and never corrects himself. he seems surprisingly comfortable with calling me labels that aren't mine like sister, daughter, ect, and its really exhausting. I'm too scared to correct him. he doesnt see me as nonbinary which I assume is because he's not used to it or something? but I have no idea how to make him understand without making him confused or like im attacking him for not understanding. he also does that thing where he acts like a "good" cishet person I guess and is all "im the greatest ally ever :D" without actually doing any work to help lgbt people so I feel like talking to him about it he'd just get defensive? idk man. my pronouns are he/they so there are like, two different pronouns sets to choose from for me and he goes with the ones that make me feel awful? this man is odd. anyways that was a ramble I hope you have a nice day

Hey there, friend. I’m sorry you’re stuck in that situation right now. Maybe try to explain to him that being misgendered makes you feel bad, and ask him what would be a good way for you to help him get used to your new pronouns. Try to phrase it in a way that sounds like you’re both working together towards a common goal. That’s far less likely to put someone one the defensive than something perceived as criticism. Also see if you can get someone else (maybe a family member or a friend) to help you correct him gently, if you feel that might help.

anyway i am simply thinking about how each of my ocs would text... This ended up being a super long post so I’ll put it under the cut to save your dash

Willow would use a bunch of exclamation points like !!!! and uses caps a lot but not all the time yknow? shes just excitable and can show that in text v well :o)

oliver would text in all caps bc he likes how it looks better but gets confused when someone asks why hes yelling when theyre literally not -_- thats dumb you cant even hear what theyre typing out loud.

Harper would use these little squigglies ‘~’ at the end of her sentences a lot and use emoticons but with one eye bc she has one eye :) like she would type : “oh?~ >O) 💗”

i think cecelia would use a lot of ellipses.. like this....... she does take her time talking irl...... that or she would type very prim and proper with correct punctuation, spelling and “flowery” big words. idk ! I feel like she would learn how to operate technology from harper bc she wouldn’t want Cecelia being a “boring lame-o” around her when she doesn’t know what she’s referencing DMSFLK

Felix would also use proper spelling and punctuation with full stops. however he tends to be very “blunt” texting very short phrases/sentences but its just that he doesn’t want to strain his eyes looking at the screen for long periods of time. i think he would have his phone text slightly big as well just to make it easier for him. He texts “Ok.” but that doesnt mean he’s mad or anything literally he just means ok :o)

Clover would be more casual, she would use exclamation points as well but not as many as willow, she seems very very friendly and bubbly over text :)!! she also uses emojis freely she likes the sparkle emoji and the blue heart the most as well as the butterfly and clover emoji 💙✨🦋🍀 I feel she would have her name in Felix’s phone as “Clover 💙✨” or with any combo of emojis ehehe

Tony would make a lot of typos but like , he just thinks the keyboard on the phone is too small for his thumbs :/ you can still understand him though autocorrect helps... he would also use lots of exclamation points like willow but not use caps that often (only when he’s REALLY excited) he would also use XD and X3 unironically as well as :33 (the two mouth one more often than the one mouth version)

Gloria would use the cute little text emoticons like ^_^ and (●'◡'●) whenever she can, she’ll also add in heart emojis/emoticons at the end of her sentences just to make it sound more loving :o)

hey so I agree with a lot of the stuff in your post about the transphobia involved in the origin of the pansexual label, but I just have one question: what are the actual impacts of people with good intentions calling themselves pan? If you don't hate pansexuals and consider them bi, why type up a paragraphs long manifesto on the harms of the origin of the label if it means the same thing in the way that most non transphobic people (your audience) use it? a lot of identities can be used in transphobic ways (like bi and lesbian and anything really) and plenty of valid identities from problematic roots and evolve over time as people use them differently (queer, transsexual). so how is a person with good intentions using a not-perfect label in a way you don't like a threat to the community? if someone is using the label pan transphobically, wouldn't their bigotry exist independently? if pan people do not act in transphobic ways besides using the label pansexual, realistically what is changing if they call themselves bi beyond holier-than-thou aesthetic activism? plus, a blog on the internet isn't going to get everyone to stop identifying as pansexual, especially considering multiple prominent celebrities ID as pan. so why spend all that energy quibbling on semantics because some bi people use a slightly different word when you could be worrying about Literally anything else? just feels like you want to find something to argue about lol. extremely disappointed that I had to break a mutual

im going to respond to each thing you bring up chronologically- im not trying to nitpick or prioritize certain things you say ill just forget things if i go out of order and i dont want to miss something important. ALSO! i will be typing less formally (like keysmashes and shortening words n stuff) in this response than my og post bc its 1am as im starting to type this so im tired but i want to be clear that i am like. taking this seriously and im not like. mocking u in anyway if it could read that way?? i hope not but just in case anyways here it goes!

in terms of actual impact people with good intentions identifying as pan: honestly im not sure the full scope of the impact this has, so ill only be speaking to what ive personally seen which might not be all. but like... id argue my younger self has good intentionals iding as pan. i wanted to support trans people, even if i didnt understand a lot of the nuance involved. as a result of this, i developed a sense of superiority over other bisexuals and a mentality that bisexuality was a primitive and lesser sexuality. that mentality is harmful, and although im not sure if it affected bisexuals around me (of which there are many most of my friends are bi ajfjfjf) its still a harmful mentality and can easily hurt people even if i specifically didnt. also using it even with good intentions, which i know many people have, still spreads and further normalizes a label that imo can not be separated from its transphobic origins. this effect is not as extreme as other forms of transphobia and biphobia by A LONG SHOT. the bi community faces a lot of other issues but that doesnt mean this one isnt worth addressing if that makes sense?

if i dont hate pansexuals: ik this is part of a larger point which i will adress but i specified this in my post bc i see a lot of other posts that are negative towards pansexuality have "i hate pan ppl" somewhere in it or a close equivalent. i do not shame these ppl for their anger, i just wanted to be clear i think a lot of pan ppl are bi ppl with good intentions choosing a label they dont fully understand based on a misunderstanding of bisexuality.

ALSO BTW i literally got an ask like a week ago that was several paragraphs long asking me to explain my thoughts on why pan was harmful and some other stuff so like. this is partially responding to that and partially just me wanting to air my grievances ? idk if thats the right expression 😔😔

why write the post if my audience of people who identify as pan arent doing it in a transphobic way ? again sorry i didnt really understand the phrasing so i hope this is a vaguely correct summary!! um but like... again imo i think pan cant be separated from its transphobia and like. again imo iding as pan is like. a transphobic action/choice? obviously one transphobic thing does mean someone necessarily is like officially a Transphobe (it CAN be depending on the action but i dont think that applies here) but that doesnt mean there arent problems with what they did. this is like very complicated, but like. someone doing something harmful without the knowlege that its harmful doesnt make that person a bigot by any means it just means they didnt know. and i feel thats the case here? a lot of ppl (myself included until recently) know next to nothing abt pansexualitys origins so a trans inclusve sexuality might seem like a safe and good bet just because they dont know too much abt it, and like? i cant hate those people cause that was me for 5+ years and djgjfjdj you just dont know what you dont know!

basically i think iding with a transphobic label is inherently a singular transphobic action that doesnt make the person transphobic by itself, but is still a transphobic instance.

a lot of identities can be used in transphobic ways like bi, lesbian, etc.: this is true and a point i attempted to make on my original post, but i might not have clear enough. my issue with pan is specifically that it is a transphobic response to a preexisting identity. lesbian isnt an attempted trans inclusive indentity that replaced an identity that already existed (which have many trans ppl identifying with the og label). transphobes can use whatever labels they want, but transphobes using a label vs a label having a transphobic origin is very different. bigots use inclusive and supporting language for their bigotry all the time but language that originated with that bigotry is worse.

many valid identities stem from problemstic origins (like transsexual and queer) but the words evolve: ok my paraphrasing is a little weird there. anyways. the thing here is that. those are slurs. reclaimed slurs that can be empowering to many people, yes, but slurs nonetheless. reclaiming a slur is taking a harmful word and wearing it as a badge of pride. first off, pansexual is not a slur (ur not implying that in anyway just. saying) and it isnt being reclaimed when people dont treat it as having harmful origins. transsexual is the way some people identify but ppl acknowlege its a slur and originates from transphobia. ppl love to act like queer isnt a slur, which is an issue in and of itself, but just. factually it has historically and is currently being used against ppl with the intent to hurt them. pansexual isnt on the same level as these and other words like the f slur, d slur, etc. pansexual originates from trans and biphobia WITHIN the community and not outside of it, and most pansexuals dont see themselves as reclaiming the title because they dont think anythings wrong with it in the first place. and reclaiming it just seems unnecessary considering its history? theres no empowerment from using pan as a label as opposed to queer or transsexual, and it just divides the bisexual community for no reason.

how is a person using a not-perfect label a threat to the community? ok i dont think its a threat but still an issue if that difference makes sense? id like to reiterate a few things ive said before, but for me personally, it made me look down on bisexuals and see them as lesser, and it made people around me see pan as the "trans inclusive" sexuality as opposed to bisexuality, and basically its usage just leads to further biphobia. is this the worst of biphobia? no!!! but its still biphobia and why not attempt to target and minimize that? i have no way to singlehandedly stop biphobia, but my post might get through to my friends who id as pan and that small thing is better than nothing.

if someone used the pan label in a transphobic way, wouldnt that bigotry be different from people using it not transphobically?: someone claiming all bi ppl are transphobic and only pan is the acceptable label is obviously a lot worse than someone iding as pan and saying bi/pan solidarity but again, the second isnt not an issue because the first one is a bigger issue, its just a smaller issue in comparison. i wouldnt say the bigotry is different, one is just worse than the other, but it still has the same problems.

if pan people dont do anything transphobic other than id as pan then what changes with iding as bi over pan other holier-than-thou activism: its just one less person using a transphobic label? which isnt that big but it might lead to their friends stopping iding as pan and cause fewer people around them to see bi as a transphobic identity. which is small scale stuff, i wont try to blow it out of proportion, but thats still a step in the right direction and hopefully more people follow with it. its not terribly huge or lifechanging but something small that may only affect the people close to you is still something rather than nothing.

a blog the internet isnt going to get people to stop iding as pan: oh absolutely not. honestly i expected to get unfollowed/blocked more than change peoples minds regarding the pan label (im surprised i only lost two followers so far honestly) but again, someone literally asked me to do this and i wanted to be clear on my stance on the label, since in the past ive been supportive of it. im not expecting the post to get more than five likes, its more directed to my followers rather than the internet as a whole. im not expecting a large impact, im hoping to change the minds of my followers and friends who id as and support the pan label. thats it. if something bigger comes from it- great! but thats not what im aiming to do.

prev point + many prominent celebrities id as pan: the first name that comes to mind is someone im not a fan of for separate reasons but thats irrelevant. i mean im repeating myself a bit but some celebrities in the past validated and made me feel excited abt my identity as a pan person when they came out, and it justified the label to me, even when i had doubts. i have never interacted with a celebrity and do not plan to change their minds abt their identity. again, my post was for my friends and followers and maybe who ever was scrolling through the biphobia tag and decided to read my post.

why spend that much energy worrying abt the pan label instead of something else: ive spent waaaaay more energy thinking abt a singular meme i didnt like regarding my favourite rwby character so like. maybe i just overreact to things lol. maybe i have a lot of energy and since i cant talk my friends ears off abt my favourite fruits or the different voting methods i learned in my math class or what would dreams taste like, then i gotta put my energy into something. idk. i have a lot of energy and honestly? this didnt take that much. but i felt it weighing on me as my friends talked positively abt the pan label, when i felt guilty for the superiority i felt over my bi friends INCLUDING my best friend and favourite person in the world so like. i spent enough energy worrying abt it, and like. in hindsight since its been over 12 hours since posting it, im thinking abt it less. i was more worried abt feeling dishonest with my friends than actually worrying abt pansexuality, but i figured i owed them an explanation for why my feelings around it had changed.

just feels like you want to find something to argue about: okay i DO love arguing but im not pulling this out of my ass for fun. its in response to posts ive seen on my dash, asks i recieved abt pansexuality, and my way of letting people know my views have changed and why since i know at least some people are curious.

i am sorry to lose a mutual as well, and i genuinely hope things go well for you, but uh yeah thats that.

again, if people have further questions im willing to answer them i just might take a while bc i have school and other stuff 2 do but uhhh yea sorry if im clogging ur dash sjfjfkkf

Idk if I’m gonna phrase this right, but if Numenoreans descended people live significantly longer than average humans, does that change how they conceptualize age? Like, 15 is young teenager to us but 15 is like still child status to them? Or would it be more like, 90 is old and well lived to us but to them 90 is closer to how we see 65 year olds, or something. Or even would it be like 45 is midlife crisis town to us, but still part of young adulthood to them? Sorry if this doesnt make sense lol

It makes sense for sure! But see now I don’t tend to apply to this run of logic. Because our phases of life aren’t really signalled by arbitrary ages or numbers, society doesn’t just decide you’re old now because you’ve reached an age. They’re applied because of physical changes that go on in our brains and bodies, as well as the natural progression of opinions as people accumulate experience, that change how we actually think and behave. The age is linked to actual changes that happen to a person.

It’s why we talk about late and early bloomers, or ‘he’s going through his midlife crisis in his twenties’, these are recognisable things that most people go through at a specific time in their lives and they have physical, experiential and chemical reasons for them.

And the men of Numenor were normally lived men before they got a taste of Arda unmarred, thereby increasing their lifespan. There’s no indication that the physical changes we go through at earlier points in life were altered by these things. It’s just that humans stay healthy longer, stay physically fit longer ect. You’d have to say that Numenoreans literally adapt slower that normal humans and that doesn’t really fit in with what we know of them.

Admittedly, being healthier for longer would likely have some effects on later stages of life, but I think what feels more correct is that Numenoreans got to live in their ‘oh this is kind of ok’ ‘I feel like I’ve got a hang on this’ ‘everything in my head’s chiller’ 60+ era for just much much longer. They’ve lived a life, they probably have grown children and are far ahead in their careers and have gathered a ton of experience. They’re considered elders and respected as such, but that stage just goes on for... many many decades. Like two thirds of their whole life. And you still have a lot of energy and strength while you’re going through it.

And god doesn’t that sound nice? Doesn’t the ability to live in a calmer stage of life for much longer mean that citizens would have all the time and energy in the world to make incredible innovations? Ponder philosophy and how to make society better? Doesn’t that explain so much about why Numenor was considered so enlightened? Ooo I’m all teary eyed.

Early descendents of Numenor generally only reached like 180 at the very most, more often 150, and that narrowed significantly as years went by. Aragorn was an outlier in many respects, Faramir only got to 120 and I think that would be rare. My point is, with all this uncertainty in lifespan, I think the beats of one’s life remained generally the same. Faramir was an ‘elder’ at 60, it’s just that kept going for another 60 years after that.

I think its very correct when someone understands that they can sometimes not like someone or need space but still knows theyre in love. Idk if i phrased that right.. i think its good when someone defines loving/liking something as when they have a certain feeling abt it most of the time and they allow for other feelings but the other feelings are secondary. It can be called an imperfection, although by that standard no love is perfect. For example if you love certain ice cream and nothing is stopping you, youll eat more and more and there might be a point at which you think "eww too much" and it doesnt mean yoy dont love that ice cream, you just need space

Yeah, too many people still don’t get that [biological sex is just as much of a social construct as gender is]. Saying that a body type, body part or an organ etc. is inherently “male” or “female” is nothing but unnecessary transphobic and perisexist misgendering. And it’s incorrect to word things this way, because calling something a “female organ”, for example, is implying that 1) everyone who has it is female and 2) everyone who is female has it. And that isn’t accurate.

If you want to word things correctly, use the actual word for what you’re talking about. If you’re talking about the penis, say penis, not “male genitalia”. if you’re talking about an uterus, say uterus, not “female organ”. And so on. We don’t need to use this kind of secretive language, we don’t need to avoid words like this, we don’t need to use substitute words when the actual words work just fine. If you want to make sure what you’re saying is correct and easy to understand, you should use the actual words for the things you’re talking about. It’s as simple as that.

I’m sorry you’re having to be around a person or people who refuse to get this. I know how fucking frustrating it can be. But I hope that you will be able to get through to them eventually and that they’ll accept your help in teaching them how to use more inclusive and accurate language.

There is a big risk of sounding as if you think you’re superior than others when you try to teach them, but it’s hard to not sound like that when you know for a fact that what they’re saying is just plain wrong. You can try to find ways to word things more politely than I did here, if you want to, but ultimately it isn’t going to matter how kindly you phrase something if the person or people you’re talking to has already made up their mind about not wanting to listen to what you say.
