There are millions upon millions of words and art and creative production of media for consumption for free. Just because we care. Because something compels us, because something inspired us, made us feel something inside.

We surround ourselves with others who also get so excited about it, and I stand here atop a little mound of my own creation while we all gush over the things we love and I am reminded about how joyous and lovely it is to care.

So my question for you: What is something (fandom or not) that you have stepped back to say “damn I did that” that makes you feel proud

I saw this and thought "I'll totally do that later" and now I'm in bed and doing it from my phone so... yeah.

Anyway. Right now I'm going to say "all the progress I've made on the fucking kitchen" because it was supposed to be a 2-3 day project and tomorrow is day six and hopefully I will have a working sink by the end of it and a washing machine that is functional.

Today was the second coat of paint on the walls: I have the ceiling and the gloss work left to do. And then I need to clean everything down AGAIN and then get stuff back into the room.

I am also building an Amazon wish list of things I want so this weekend I will be buying myself some pretties.

So yeah. Not the answer I planned to give but right now I'm pretty proud of the fact I'll have done 90% of the kitchen myself (the rest being electrical and plumbing and... no).

Thank you for sending this, it really was a nice thing to do and receive and made me smile 💕

With Alex down in DC for the weekend, Henry takes himself on a date around the city to distract himself. Yesterday had been filled with meandering his way through the MOMA and soliciting hole-in-the-wall falafel places from locals. (They’d actually answered him, too – sometimes being a prince has its perks.) 

Today he’d gotten lost in an indie bookstore for a few hours, trailing his fingers along spines of old favorites and plucking out new titles based solely upon, as Alex would say, the vibes. He thinks about going home and reading in the bay window of their bedroom, but the beautiful weather draws him toward Central Park instead. For once, David isn’t with him, so Henry has more options for where to fall into a new book. He’s been itching for a chance to visit in the Sheep Meadow or eat at the Tavern on the Green, so Henry lets his feet carry him to an unoccupied tree at the edge of the meadow, and settles in for a long reading bout.

He comes back to himself in stages. The delighted shriek of a nearby child pierces through the book fog. Then his arse starts to protest sitting on the ground for so long, not letting him dive back into the story. And then his stomach’s empty rumblings make themselves known, and Henry surrenders to his body’s needs. 

Regretfully, he picks up his things, says a silent, thankful goodbye to the tree and strolls away, taking the longest route possible to the restaurant. He’s hungry, yes, but he’s not in a rush to leave this section of the park. He can feel a small smile on his face when he remembers that the first anniversary of Stonewall was celebrated here.

The restaurant has just come into view when his phone buzzes in his pocket and Henry laughs when he sees the name on the screen; apparently Alex updated his own contact card (again) before he left for the White House.

Ohhhh I love this! Thank you for choosing me as a recipient of one of your nice asks 🥰🥹

Oh gosh, I do have a few things.

Personally, when I bought my house at 25 and when I graduated with my master’s degree in 2022 while maintaining a full time job for the 2.5 years I was pursuing it (and another secret thing I can’t quite talk about just yet).

Professionally, when I was a senior in college, I won a national award for a softball video that I made for my school, as a part of my internship. And also, anytime I sit down to produce a show seen by over 75,000 people on a weekly basis in the fall. I don’t know what my professional future looks like, but I’m proud of all that I’ve accomplished.

In the fandom world, I’ll just say…joining and all that came with that. I loved Red, White & Royal Blue after my first read in June so much that I HAD to find others who loved it the same way I did. So taking the leap and joining a fandom, and diving deeper into it than I ever have before in any fandom between fics and edits and FRIENDS (real, genuine, true friends) is something I am so immensely proud of because it’s completely changed my life. My therapist said just yesterday “you’re so much more social now than you were when I met you” and it’s true. Despite the physical distance between me and all of you lovely humans, I feel more loved and more supported now than ever before, and I am proud of past me for taking a chance for herself and her happiness.

Thank you again for asking, love. Thinking about all these sources of pride absolutely made my day. ❤️

So my question for you: When you hear “treat yo self” what is the first thing that comes to mind for how you “treat yo self”

Omg stop, this is such a lovely idea 🤧 I'm always down for nice asks, and you've made a whole day? Amazing.

You've come to the right place because 'treat yo self' is my motto. It's usually uttered when I'm deciding whether or not to purchase something (spoiler: I always make the purchase). Almost always, it's a book. Sometimes, it is a dessert from the bakery in the grocery store. Things you just get because you can. But every day after work, I buy myself a coffee and a sweet treat as a celebration for making it through my day. It's routine, it's tradition, it shall never be broken.

Also, writing. It is a stress relief for me, so any time I feel like I need to have a break and calm down, I do some writing. Treating myself by way of taking care of myself, offering some time where I don't have to worry about anything else.

wellllll i wrote a song a while ago and it was the first song of mine to be played on the radio. it was also played at two of my grandparents’ funerals, so i was quite emotional and very proud of myself for creating it. and just for like putting something i’d recorded out into the wild in general

I had to think about this one for a bit, and I'm sure after I hit post I'll think of more, but the first one that comes to mind:

I was in a Tractor Supply looking for new gloves for my archaeology job, and some old man beckoned my husband and I over to tell us that Elton John was going to play in the area next year. Cool, great, love Elton.

He then proceeds to ask some horribly racist question, and when I tell you I was FLABBERGASTED. Like, immediately the husband and I look at each other like, "oh no, we need to leave this store and get away from this racist old man." The conversation moves along and he then asks my husband what size pants he wears. Why? Because he got a good pair of pants from Costco for $1. Wonderful. BUT. He can't wear them anymore cause he lost too much weight. Because he has cancer.

At this point my husband and I were like, "oh, so sorry to hear that, we actually have to get going now," and backed away slowly. He was also wearing a "Taco is the spice of life" t-shirt.

We left the store and were like...."what just happened!?"

But we did end up seeing Elton John in concert the next year hahaha

Okay, so I have a couple.

I went to high school with two guys from The Fray, Dave and Ben. In my junior year, I sat next to Ben in English class and we absolutely terrorized our teacher. She'd been hired last minute to replace a teacher that was going to be on maternity leave the whole semester. I had no idea he was a musician at all, let alone that he was in a band. The first time I became aware of The Fray I just pointed to their album cover and was like, "OMG I HAD ENGLISH CLASS WITH HIM"

The second one was way back in the mid-90s when I was still a wee grade school kid. I think I was in 5th or 6th grade? Anyway, one of the pitchers for the high school varsity baseball team came to do something with us in our gym class. We were outside near the where we had a baseball diamond and this pitcher took a baseball and threw it from the outfield right over the center of home plate and broke the wooden backstop. That pitcher ended up being Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies legend Roy Halladay.

FIVE THOUSAND ANGUISHED TEXTS AND BIG BROTHER AU PLS OMFG VAL this list is so entirely scrumptious I am screaming

Five Thousand Anguished Texts is seriously one of my favorite WIPs that I have right now. I gave @kiwiana-writes the synopsis to this one here and I fully intend on working on it in the coming days!

I'm immensely excited to work with a new fic format aside from the standard plus the chance to explore more of Pez's voice and his relationship with Henry in this one!

And Big Brother AU has got me SO excited. We're going to have alternating POVs, competition recaps, diary room moments, wild twists, showmances, and so much more! If you ever loved Big Brother and you love FirstPrince, I just feel like this is going to be such a great combo of the two, and I can't wait to write something with @thinkof-england that hopefully all the reality TV fans in this fandom will enjoy.

And thank you, love!! There's so much on the horizon for 2024, for so many of us, and I am THRILLED at what's to come, as both a writer and a reader in the fandom!!

MJ what is the most fanfiction moment that has happened to you IRL let’s have some story time!!!

I mean what fic genre are we talking here? Meet-cute? Angst? PWP? 🤣

I have had incredibly bad luck with my birthdays (parental abandonment, childhood pets dying, natural disasters, being cheated on, global pandemics, cats having medical emergencies...) BUT I also met my now-spouse the night before my birthday, and I think that would make a fucking excellent "five times their birthday was the worst day of their life and one time it was the best" type fic lmao.

I once flirted with a guy working at a pop-up retail stand in the middle of a mall, gave him my number, he came round to my place after work and we had a two-day bangfest. Good times.

I also once got railed so hard I dislocated my shoulder lol.

In general there are probably a lot of PWPs on this list, let's not get into them all hahaha.

(The story of my engagement would be a GREAT fic, however it would also doxx me immediately to anyone who knows me IRL as it was a pretty uhhhhhh specific story, so that anon that asked me yesterday if I've ever written a fic anon/under a secret pseud? If anything would make me do it it'd be that.)
