guys. guys. i got to watch the first 2 episodes of percy jackson at an early screening today and oh my god. watching this literally healed whatever piece of me broke 10 years ago when i watched that fuckass movie. i’m not kidding when i say this is the BEST book to screen adaptation i have EVER seen. it is sooo on point. everything that is changed or added just elevates the source material. like i genuinely have ZERO critiques. no notes. the casting is SO phenomenal. the comedic timing is insane. the heartfelt emotional moments literally had me clutching my chest. SALLY AND PERCY had me cryinggggg. walker is fucking phenomenal as percy. he not only captures the humor and sarcasm PERFECTLY but he brings out that broken little 12 year old boy who just wants his mom back so well. LEAH AS ANNABETH. AMAZING. ITS LITERALLY HER. as somebody who grew up hyperfixating on annabeth as my favorite character ever… leah nails it. and the baby percabeth of it all is so good already. ARYAN is phenomenal. that kid is SO good at showing his emotions with just his face oh my god he is theeee perfect grover. guys we really could not have gotten luckier with this trio and honestly ALL of the rest of the cast so far have been phenomenal as well. i was sitting there smiling ear to ear for 2 whole episodes. i walked out of that theater with my jaw to the floor. i really thought there would be a small thing or two that i would have critiques of but i genuinely. have nothing. it’s like they took 9 year old me’s dreams about getting a proper percy adaptation and turned it into reality. and made it even better somehow. i can’t believe we have this. dyingggg to see the next episodes.

I finally watched VHS Christmas Carol Live last night, and I loved it! I wanted to give some initial thoughts:
The music SLAPS! Like, so good! I'm not usually much of an 80's pop person, but honestly it was bop after bop the whole time. Bah Humbug, That Scrooge, Christmas Electricity, and Priceless were all highlights for me. I think what sold it for me was how lyrically tight it was, and how strong the emotions were. Telling a story entirely through song is no easy feat, but they absolutely nailed the structure and pacing.
Speaking of the emotions, Christmas Carol has been adapted so many times, that it's really important to hit all the emotional beats to sell the spirit of the story, and VHS delivers. I feel like many adaptations go all in on the misery, regret, and sorrow of the story, and only really bring the cheer and warmth in at the very end. VHS really embraces not only the somber parts of the tale, but the joyful parts too. Fezziwig's Chistmas party, Fred's party, and the Crachit's family dinner all really portray the joyfullness of the season and how that joyfullness can come from many places. It really strengthens the message of the story in a way that adaptations focused only on the bleak aspects miss.
In terms of actual story decisions, VHS really sticks to the classic story very closely and does it really well. Actual story changes are few and far between, but the ones they included I really liked. I loved the addition of the couple who are thankful that Scrooge died because it relieves their debt. It really highlights that Crachit and his family are not the only people affected by Scrooge's greed. Many adaptations either like to forget he's a landlord, or don't unpack the ethics of landlords, so it was nice to see some sort of acknowledgment of Scrooge's less direct and more systemic impact. I also really liked how Scrooge delivered the turkey to the Crachit's in secret, and didn't give Bob his raise until after Christmas instead of barging in unannounced. I had never really thought about it before, but in most versions he does just kind of barge in on their celebration and make a big production of giving Bob a raise. I like how he let them have their celebration in peace and spent more time with Fred.
The performances were all killer. I know it kinda goes without saying at this point, but everyone in the cast in Starkid shows are always so talented. Special mention to James Tolbert, because I feel like he doesn't get enough recognition for what a talented actor, dancer, and choreographer (and director) he is. This was also my first time seeing Janaya Mahealani Jones in anything, and her Belle really blew me away. Other stand-outs for me were Dylan Saunders' Scrooge, Lauren Lopez and Joey Ritcher's Crachits, and Jaime Lyn Beatty's Ghost of Christmas Past, but really everyone knocked it out of the park.
June Saito's costumes! The 80s themeing was outstandingly executed, and the quick changes were really impressive. I've gotten used to the more realistic and toned down costumes that fit the Hatchetfield shows' setting (which are also fantastic, not trying to minimize those), but between this and the LiB's in NPMD, it's wonderful to see June Saito get to really go over the top. Special mention to Marley's costume (silver chain pants? silver chain pants!), the 3 spirit's silver and blue color themeing, and that sequined suit jacket Scrooge wears at the end of the show.
Overall, really good. Might pay for the VHS Carols digital ticket later today and watch it.

Have you heard about the One Piece live action?
Also One Piece is in it final saga.
I've watched the entire live action One Piece three times so far. I went in with zero expectations, given how badly other live action anime adaptations have let me down. the first time I watched it, I was thrilled with how good of an adaptation it was, and how it felt like it had finally broken the so-called live action anime "curse." the second time I watched it, I kept thinking how even aside from being a good adaptation, it was honestly a really good show in its own right. and the third time I was like, "yeah so this is actually one of my favorite shows of all time now, apparently."
everything about it is just so, so good. the One Piece anime and manga have such a high barrier to entry, what with it being such an intimidatingly long series, having a relatively slow start, and having an art style that initially throws people off. the live action solves all of those problems. it's only an eight episode commitment, so it's not intimidating. it's live action, so the art isn't distracting people until they get used to it. and it's a condensed version of what was honestly a fairly meandering first saga, and it whittles things down perfectly. all the good stuff, none of the filler. perfect. half my enjoyment honestly comes from how impressed I am that they actually managed to do this lol.
and the casting!! how is it so perfect?! live action Luffy should be impossible to cast. I genuinely did not think they would be able to do it. Iñaki is a wonder and I would die for him. Taz Skylar is literally Sanji. Jacob is wildly charming, Mackenyu made me like Zoro even more than I already did, and Emily made me cry every single time I watched episode 7. the fact that Oda had final say in all of the casting decisions was so important, I think.
and omg. just so many other wonderful components. the soundtrack, the sets, the effects (absolutely essential in order to make the show not feel cheesy, and they nailed everything), the FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY, omg. perfect show, honestly. for anyone who hasn't seen the series, I highly recommend it. it is a genuinely delightful experience.
and as for the manga I still need to catch up! BnHA first, lol. but thankfully One Piece's pacing is such that I'm pretty sure I still have plenty of time to get caught up and maybe even do a partial reread. gonna be a fun time for sure. end of an era.

14/3/2024, Log of DARKNEBULA85, 3:58 PM...
Jojos bizarre adventure part 1-3...
I don't know where to start with this, hahaha, wow. I only knew about Jojo's anime from the memes and shitposts, but now that I've decided to watch it, I must say it's very, very exciting. It's been a long time since I've had an anime marathon almost non-stop. Lately, I've been watching all the series calmly and patiently, but the urge to watch Jojo's has made me watch 74 episodes in 4 days. Honestly, I don't have much to say; I'm enjoying it so much, and just knowing that this series had the guts to kill off 3 characters from its main cast makes the situations really tense. For example, I suffered a lot during Polnareff's fight against Vanilla Ice; I was so tense watching that fight, and Jojo's managed to do what only very few anime have been able to do... make me cry. Yes, I cried at Iggy and Avdol's deaths. And don't even get me started on the fight against Dio; I practically lost all my nails there, hahaha. I'm finding it really good, and the best part is now I know that the shitpost scenes floating around the internet actually have a relatively logical context; I finally understand why they say breathing is a Jojo reference. Oh, one more thing, Part 1 didn't seem bad to me at all, and so far my favorite moments of the whole series are: Caesar's death and his entire fight against Wamuu, Iggy's fight against Petshop, Polnareff's fight against Vanilla Ice, and consequently Avdol and Iggy's deaths, and lastly, Dio's defeat.

So I finally found a way to watch tristamp in English dub (I only ever watched the series in Japanese). I haven’t done any deeper thoughts and analysis, and I’m only halfway through the series but here’s my impression so far:
- I love English dub Vash, especially his gibberish noises, such a chaotic dumbass (affectionate), and although some of his jokes and mannerism didn’t translate as well as I hoped, they did a very good job. They deserved two dozen donuts. (although if you hold me at gunpoint and ask me to choose English or Japanese Vash I will choose the Japanese version with a thin margin because I have personal bias towards Matsuoka Yoshitsugu [he’s from where I live lol, and I’m a big fan])
- I’m also in love with how they play Legato and Roberto, especially Legato, I was surprised by the lack of the feeling out of place (Is that the right word? sorry my brain suddenly stopped working in English) that you usually have when you hear a show dubbed in another language you’re not used to hearing. So smooth. And they nailed the drunkle speech with Roberto.
- I honestly was disappointed with the lack of accent in Wolfwood’s speech (maybe I just didn’t hear it correctly? Idk) because he speaks in heavy Kansai dialect in Japanese, even when he was a child (also casting Hosoya Yoshimasa really emphasized the accent). A huge missed opportunity on the English dub, in my opinion. I was expecting Wolfwood with a heavy Southern accent or something. And on that note they also missed the chance to add some dialect for the worm hunters on episode 4.
- English dub Meryl feels mature and a lot more pulled together to me compared to the Japanese version, which sounds very pristine and innocent until she starts learning about the world. It makes her a little… out of place for me who’s used to Meryl speaking in a very polite formal Japanese to everyone (even when she’s yelling in rage or when she’s cursing people). I think it suits Meryl from ‘98 anime more than tristamp Meryl. Probably because you can’t really translate her distinct way of speaking accurately, it’s not anyone’s fault, just a matter of different language. But I guess I like the Japanese version better for Meryl. I just love the way she speaks, shame there’s no English equivalent to her speech style.
- I don’t like English dub Nai. I’m 100% going with the Japanese version in this. Not the performance, though, I know translations are really hard and I do think the English VA did a great job, but as someone who’s used to how Nai speak in Japanese, the dub just… didn’t feel right. In Japanese Nai speaks in a relatively rougher manner compared to Vash (in how he chooses his words, also the subtle but different way he talks to humans and to Vash) and it didn’t show as much in the English dub. And his pretentious speech that sounds like some people from the church near my house doesn’t get carried to the English dub, I guess. In English he just sounds like a scary villain to me, while in Japanese I can feel his emotions and (warped) love towards Vash just from his words. I saw someone pointing out that Nai refers to the dependent plants with feminine pronouns, and it’s even more prominent and emphasized in the Japanese version. They’re not wrong. Maybe in English it can come across as a bit misogynistic(?), I don’t know, but I like how he does this in Japanese, because to me it feels like he’s always trying to refer to them as “persons” and not “things”, although his treatment towards them is contradictory.
This ended up longer than I expected but overall I enjoyed the English dub and I love analyzing different languages. I wanna know how it feels for people who know absolutely zero Japanese watching the series in English dub and in Japanese with English subtitles. I know that there were differences in the subtitles and the dub but for me I can’t compare English sub and dub because I’d just go with my Japanese interpretation if I watch the subbed version (or I’d rather just ditch the subtitle altogether because sometimes it’s making my brain confused when I speak both languages).
Also to people who write Trigun fanfics in English, where do you base the character speech from? I don’t know how to translate Japanese dialects, so Wolfwood, for example, is very difficult for me to write in English.

Paladin redesigns
So... my friend @adaphyl and I have been working on a Voltron rewrite because canon Voltron? Eughdghf god awful, we all know. But it's ok, it's not real it can't hurt us.
We've been working through the cast and redesigning characters. I'm posting the paladin redesigns first just because my Altean redesigns need a bit more explanation... there's a lot of lore and I just don't got it in me rn.
I say these are the paladin redesigns but I did also include Keith's dad for reasons, we called him Jim. Anyways here are my redesigns as well as some notes on our rewrites of the characters (I will go more into this at a later date, but for now just some important notes).
Tumblr media
Keith:
He's trans ftm, wears a binder. He needs to be wrestled out of said binder because he will wear it for too long. He is on hrt but has been off of it for a while cause space.
Keith is itty bitty, we made him 5'5.
He has more non-human features, the stripes on his arms are Galran markings, as well as the "freckles" on his face. He does get more Galran features in the future (will be in a future post).
Shiro's son.
He's autistic because I say so (I'm projecting but also honestly none of them are neurotypical lets be real).
Lance:
Lance is amab and nonbinary, goes by he/they.
Fuckboy with a heart of gold but like... genuinely. He comes off as a fuckboy to many people but he truly is just a silly little guy. Canon Lance but far better.
He's average height, 5'10.
He wears friendship bracelets made by his nieces and nephews, and always has hair ties on him for anyone who needs one. The anklet is from his mother.
Shark tooth necklace is because it's his favorite animal (and because sharks are MY favorite and I'm projecting).
Pidge:
Transmasc genderfluid, uses they/them pronouns primarily but is fine with any.
Pidge is still the shortest, around 4'11 iirc.
Pidge is aroace because I say so, romance and sex repulsed they do not give a shit about any of it.
Their hoodie was originally Matt's, they stole it in order to sneak into the Garrison and decided to just keep it. Pidge misses their brother.
Pidge wears a binder and is very good about not wearing it for too long. They set a timer for how long they should wear it and will take it off as soon as they can, as well as set reminders for break days. They are on top of this shit.
Tumblr media
Hunk:
Hunk has tattoos (not pictured, we're working on designing them). We wanted to really represent Hunk's culture and because he's Samoan we wanted to give him some traditional Samoan tattoos as a treat.
He's everyone's bestie/big brother actually and I love him can you tell I love him?
iirc he's around 6'0 tall.
Paints his nails the voltron colors, one finger for each member. His thumbs are painted yellow so he can point to himself.
Shiro:
Shiro is a trans man, he has had top surgery and is also on hrt.
Shiro is Keith's stepdad... kind of. Kind of stepdad kind of adopted dad. Simply dad.
Shiro is also around 6'0, shorter by Hunk by an inch.
Oh he also has a tongue piercing hehe haha.
Jim (Keith's bio dad):
Jim is Jim.
No but really, he was in fact a firefighter, we are keeping that. He dies in a fire and Keith now wears his dog tag.
He may have held hands with Shiro at some point :3c
There isn't much to say about him (I simply don't remember everything) but just know I love him.

Time for some thoughts on Girls on the Bus. (Without spoilers, I'll say that Melissa is absolutely nailing the role so far. The rest of this post, however, will contain some spoilers.)
Sadie's an interesting character, and they've set up what could be a really good character arc for her to understand the difference between wanting to know the truth compared to wanting the world to conform to her dreams.
She certainly sees herself as a truthseeker - but when the world doesn't conform to her hopes, she spirals rather than gets energized by the new chase. She wants to be on the trail of the winning candidate, and she has completely romanticized it (and seems to deny it).
But given the flashforwards we're seeing, there's just so much potential for a good character arc for her and I really hope the show delivers.
Tumblr media
If only she had worn glasses
Melissa said there could not be more differences between Sadie and Kara, and I suppose that's true in her personal life. Sadie wants attachment-free sex (unlike Kara, who was more focused on finding her perfect partner), she curses freely, she is lowkey alcoholic.
But a lot of those end up feeling like window dressing to me so far. It's true that, with Kara, we never really dove deep into journalism (season 4 probably came closest - and is probably my favorite season - but journalism wasn't the point of the show).
Both characters have this passionate and hopeful nature. Kara is deeply noble - and if GotB is going in the direction I think it's going, I think we'll see the same with Sadie.
It's an interesting choice to me that Melissa Benoist chose to take this role while emphasizing the difference. I think she was really drawn to this role, but she may be (reasonably) concerned about being typecast.
Either way, though, it's really fucking awesome to see her truly be the main character, and I hope they deliver the storyarc they've set up.
I do have qualms about aspects of the story. They're trying to reach to both sides of the aisle - the show feels somewhat West Wing-ish in that way, and the entire cast so far carries it really well - but flirting with "what if right-wing conspiracy theories were true" dampers a bit of my enjoyment of the show, honestly. But that in itself could be a whole 'nother post.
But for now, I am very much interested in seeing what's next.

ngl i find it hilarious that they just speedran crooked kingdom while matthias was just sitting in jail like 🧍‍♀️
IT'S SOOO FUNNY it was literally "Crooked Kingdom but they never got Matthias out of jail". He was just sitting there praying, drawing in the sand, developing friendship, and having sexy thoughts. Bless
I totally remember when everyone was still debating whether the bathroom scene will be present in future seasons after the sea whip plot when season 1 was released in 2021.. but now we got a Walmart version of it 🙃 No hate to Freddy and Amita.. Like I believe they could totally pull the canonical CK scene off if the showrunners cared about a steady paced plot.. So far, the only thing I frankly like about this season is the set designs
Bro I thought I could give up hope and get over it, but when I saw them in their final scene together,,,, how GOOD they were if the writing is plucked straight from the books and allowed some subtlety.... I was sitting there imagining they were on the Ferolind and it was 2 different scenes and dyin from happiness. Freddy Amita you deserved better
what made me super duper extra mad was the pekka confrontation scene included the other crows. like only inej is supposed to be there you really think kaz would say SHIT about his brother in front of everyone????? he literally called jesper jordie in the books and refused to elaborate on it when jesper kept asking. and even inej doesn’t get the full story out of him.
YEAH LOL this season took some truly important scenes for Inej and Kaz and just. Wrote Jesper into her place instead. And also Nina. And Inej is now the one with the LEAST context for his trauma (except for Wylan, who still knows Nothing). This is not who Kaz is this is not what he would have done this is NOT HIM
The way I don’t even care abt getting kaz’s backstory anymore in this season and can’t be convinced to watch it bc the show already butchered literally everything else with his character. Speaking of I don’t think I’ve seen anyone even go into detail or talk abt it much which probably says a lot abt everything else the show is doing lol.
NJKnkjnkj you see, the writers just decided to tell us his entire backstory in shittily-placed flashback during the first half of the season, so waiting for his backstory isn't a thing. There is no buildup. No hints. You find out most of it in ep1. Remember how bad and scary it was in the books? Well here it is really lazily shot and cliched and just seems like not a big deal at all, which is probably why no one is mentioning it
@jfkisonthemoon asked:
okay wesper IS being sped through as terribly as kanej. but i do have to say that theyre at least fun to watch and the dynamic from the (end of the) books really is there. it probably helps that the casting is perfect and that im looking for any crumbs of non-ruined book content, but still.
Crumbs help us cope, no worries, that's great for you! But I honestly really disliked their new dynamic, is was very flavorless. What, Jesper just decides to be monogamous out of the blue because Wylan told him he doesn't seem like someone who would do it and also played a few bars on the piano???? It's killing me because Jack is such a good Wylan, they nailed the balance between assertiveness and cuteness he needs, but for WHAT

Umireread: Legend of the Golden Witch - Chapter 6: Sandy Beach
Sat, Oct 4 1986 - 3:00PM
The following contains spoilers for the entirety of Umineko. Please do not read if you are yet to finish it.
We finally have our first real entry to the Tips menu in the form of the Epitaph, but it’s just a copy of what it says without any further notes. Going forward I’ll just comment if something is added that I think merits inspection, other than starting each post with “no new tips this time” or “there’s something new but there’s nothing to say about it”.
Tumblr media
I mean, I have to make the joke about Maria being the one writing the Tips, right? We get the Epitaph in our “book” and then she pulls it out of hers. Anyway Maria writes all the tips 100% canon confirmed
Tumblr media
Battler says he’s hungry and Yasu immediately goes into “I would do anything in the world for you” mode.
Tumblr media
Umineko is just full of microcosms of itself, isn’t it? This whole scene of the kids discussing the Epitaph is just one giant metaphor to the narrative structure of the mystery as a whole. The Epitaph tells you about a sweetfish-filled river, so you take it as the truth. You try to figure out where it is, but it’s fruitless, because it doesn’t exist. The same applies to all the testimonies and text that dances around the red truths later - if you take it at face value, you’ll find yourself in a dead end. It’s only when you take a step back and realise what the words actually mean that you arrive at your actual truth.
Tumblr media
Absolutely WILD take. You’d really think Maria would be big into the fantasy motifs associated with castles. That being said, this probably does track - Maria has probably been on days out to actual castles and, as a kid, found them relatively mundane and boring. Under the lens of reality, theme parks are indeed the more whimsical of the two, and probably easier for her to lose herself in fantasy-wise.
Tumblr media
Hitting the nail on the head there by focusing on the Kanji of the Epitaph being important, eh?
Tumblr media
Yeah this was just me at every family meeting when I was her age.
Tumblr media
Battler cutting the Gordian Knot here. This is a really interesting line, honestly - it’s a sense of pragmatic bluntness that I don’t recall us getting a lot of later (although that might just be my memory), but moreover, it shows a sense of gunning for answers without caring for the why. It’s definitely a far cry from Erika levels of depravity, but it’s neat to know how much he grows as a person as this story goes on.
Tumblr media
I do wonder what Yasu’s thoughts are regarding this discussion. I know she’s rooting for Battler - or anyone, really - to solve the Epitaph, but I’d loved to have seen a beat-by-beat reaction of her internal thoughts to everything going on here.
Tumblr media
Maria talks about wanting to believe in Beato and Yasu chimes in immediately. Feed that imagination and you can use her to your advantage later.
Tumblr media
Good to know that we’re establishing the servants being willing to lie in service of fantasy this early on.
Tumblr media
Battler goes “woah, that’s scary” and then Yasu immediately retreats and goes “nooo it’s not that scary please like me”.
Tumblr media
I’m imagining a conversation where Maria asks Rosa for a book for her birthday, a happy Rosa asks her which one she would like, and then Maria goes “The Lemegeton :)”
Tumblr media
I dunno man, I used to cast fire strike on scorpions at the Al Kharid mine to train my magic and they didn’t put up much resistance.
Tumblr media
I’m imagining an alternate universe where the Rokkenjima Massacre never happens and Maria grows up as one of those girls obsessed with Star Signs and Crystals.
“Even I don’t think of myself as the sort of loser who’d laugh at something like that”. Oh Ryukishi is coming for the throat of anyone who makes fun of other peoples’ interests. I think this is quite a neat comment to drop - like, internally, part of me wants to say that he’s painting with too broad a stroke here, but at the same time I don’t think he’s wrong at all? Like, using the above example of people obsessed with astrological signs, it’s pretty common to see others poking fun at them because obviously it’s not real. But is that a valid reason to disparage them? Aren’t we all retreating into our own personal fantasies of reality, especially when it comes to more existential topics? Umineko, at its core, really is a story of compassion for your fellow man. I think this is quite a direct point for the story to make, but it’s a well warranted one.
Tumblr media
Yasu, once again, is writing Battler as the ultimate gentleman dreamboat who would be her perfect partner.
Tumblr media
This scene is quite interesting in that it gives you a good insight into the philosophy of the trio here - Battler, results focused, is initially disappointed that the roses will be battered by the storm. Jessica chimes in, saying that they were lucky to have lived and left an impression on them, and George echoes this by saying that the finite nature of their existence is what truly allows you to admire them in their bloom - with Battler coming around to their way of thinking afterwards. I like seeing Battler being so open minded, but I also like thinking of this as a reflection of all of their thoughts about life in general.
Tumblr media
Oh that’s a scathing comment from Jessica. Literally one scene ago we had a callout directed towards people for looking down on what brings others joy, and now we have Jessica calling Maria’s obsession “pointless”. That has to be an intentional criticism of her character.
Tumblr media
Mother of the year incoming.
Tumblr media
The themes of fantasy and reality rise once again. Of course, the rose is gone - presumably it was pruned by Yasu to get Maria into this situation - but none of what the cousins or Rosa is saying here actually helps Maria. You can’t help her with the truth, you can only upset her. So do you force the truth down her throat? Do you make her even more upset, so you can feel vindicated that you’re right? Or do you approach her in a way that might actually calm her down? To be fair, I’m not entirely sure what the right approach would even be in this scenario - I’d presume the best bet is to weave some fantastical tale that the rose ran away somewhere, or that it wasn’t wilting and was actually getting ready to hide before the typhoon hit, so it’s actually safe and sound under the dirt. But anyway, I certainly know what the wrong approach is in this case!
Tumblr media
Yasu writes the Ushiromiyas as completely rotten, who cannot be changed and aren’t worth saving. “But Battler, my hero? He’s different. He’s the good one.”
Tumblr media
Once again, Umineko is such a good dive into the human condition. I’m almost certain that Rosa and Maria are based on a real case he saw during his time as a social worker. Rosa is a terrible mother, but you can see why she’s ended up like this. Not just because she’s issuing the same treatment Kinzo gave to her generationally, but because she’s a single mother who is not able to cope with Maria’s additional needs and struggles by herself. Her actions aren’t excused - and they certainly aren’t excusable - but you clearly understand why Rosa is like this. I’m so grateful whenever a piece of media is able to navigate a difficult topic like this with an understanding of the humanity behind both parties without just taking the easy route and vilifying one of them.
Tumblr media
Wow, George is so great with kids! Anyway, let’s defend the mother who is beating her daughter.
It’s actually really messed up that both George and Jessica are so defensive of Rosa’s actions here. The generational trauma is real - they’ve both absolutely received similar treatment growing up and have become numb to it.
Tumblr media
Yeah? You think what Maria wants the most right now is to be left alone? Bet you feel real good about yourselves letting that 9 year old get a beating, huh?
Through the lens of Yasu’s writing, I can’t help but see this as a venting moment - a reflection of the times that she was hurting, that she wanted someone to reach out to her, but it was too proper for them to do so and so a blind eye was turned against her. After all, it’s the Ushiromiya family, their entire tattered history is full of them simply ignoring their problems and waiting for them to go away. No doubt Yasu was frothing at the bit at the prospect of them trying to “wait for the problem to go away” while standing on top of several tons of military grade explosives.
It’s worth mentioning that I’m writing these notes as I go, because occasionally I’ll make a comment and then be pleasantly surprised by seeing a point I make be immediately reinforced by the narrative. Case in point, we have some discussion from Battler about how messed up it is for George and Jessica to act as they do in this scene.
Honestly, I want to revisit a suggestion I made earlier about Maria implanting herself onto the rose - if we read this scene with that assumption, this all hits so, so much harder. The wilted rose, the odd one out, has disappeared - and no-one seems to care. And here we have Rosa basically confirming that’s a one-to-one reflection of Maria’s school life; a wilted rose that people tolerate at best, want to see gone at worst, and the odd one out without any friends regardless. It’s just sad all round.
Also, Fortitude is the perfect pick for this scene - such a great track. Flawlessly captures the emotions at play here.
And we find ourselves in a Kinzo scene to send us out. With no witnesses in the study, this is the fantasy of an empty room. The sound of rain against the window with no-one there to care. Fav Series to get to know me a little better.
Been seeing a few posts do this and thought it could be fun to try too. No pressure but feel free to join along if you want!
The Sandman- While I've read a few chapters of the comic (which I still need to read more of) par say, the Netflix show adaptation is so freaking good & seriously exceeded my expectations in terms of the visually effects also the storytelling is done so well & seeing Morpheus in live-action is also great too. So hyped for S2.
POSE- I swear this series doesn't get enough attention on it as far as I can tell. Because it's honestly I think one of the best shows I've seen so far, Set during 1980s America during the AIDs crisis with a mostly Black and POC casting that's focuses on Ballroom culture which offers a place of belonging to NY gay/queer communities. This show is a emotional roller-coaster that had me feeling so much for its great characters & it should be watched more by everyone because it's so good.
Arcane- Just seriously one of the best mature adult animated series thus far. Before I got into Arcane the only one or two thing I knew about it was hearing how awesome it was and that its based off of the long time popular online game League of Legends & that was pretty much it. But actually seeing this show upon first episode had me hooked from the start, everything dealing with this show is top-notch. From the fantastic, incredible 3d animation to the mature well-written compelling storytelling, along with well-rounded, morally complex flawed characters that feel so human in terms of the choices they make be it in the wrong or right, also the real banging soundtrack along with it. Just one of the bests series I so far seen.
Primal- Yet another example of really great adult animated series that have come out recently way ago. By the creator of Samurai Jack and Dexter Laboratory, Gennady Tartakovsky Primal is to me a good, well done showcasing of visual storytelling. Just a epic & awesome story about a caveman dub as Spear and his Dinosaur pal "Fang" that bonded over the loss of their families & now goes on a journey together through the violent prehistoric times. I consider this animated show to be akin to art, like a show with zero dialogue & all atmosphere & raw emotions. Just a piece of like animated art.
American Gods-Ah this show, Yet another one of Nail Gaiman works. I have a bit of some conflicted feelings on this show because while its so damned good and I seriously love everything about it on the premise of Gods and Deities from other cultures and mythology living within the modern world & trying to rebuild the influence they've once had on humanity & everything else how this show is put together in terms of visuals also storytelling is great...except for that damn cliffhanger and the fact that the show was cancelled...so yea. Still love it a bunch but eh...yeah.
Tuca & Bertie- Yet another fav adult cartoon show of mine that also got done so dirty yet again but also I feel don't get a lot of attention on it. Made by Lisa Hanawalt who in case you didn't know was the character designer of BoJack Horseman, and I would say Tuca & Bertie is like the less depressed and lesser cynical sister series of Bojack while still tackling some real heavy mature issues and problems. The world of Tuca & Bertie is one filled with mainly anthro bird people and dogs also talking plants people too. The show just has this more off-beat , zany , fun optimistic feel-good vibes going for it that's feels so inventing. But similar to Bojack in a way were its not afraid to get emotional serious about adult problems like sexual abuse or dealing with harassment & treating said issues with tact & maturity while still keeping the show overall light-hearted tone. Should be watched more.
The Midnight Gospel- The short way to giveaway on what this show is or deal with? Can be phase in one way. And that there's should be more animated Podcast. Made by Pendleton Ward the same man behind Adventure Time, I swear this show was quite the experience but in a good way. The animation is so trippy and yet so uniquely creative with using different styles. It follows a dude who goes inside a simulator to different worlds to try to interview people. The talks within this show can hit on many different levels with discussions of coping with loss and death or dealing with the struggles of hoping, a show you should take your time with, but so worth it.
Castlevania- I'll try to keep this one short & sweet. But another real awesome and oh so good adult animated series based off the classic game of the same title. great and amazingly done action /fight scenes as well as also just as wonderfully engaging and entertaining characters that you'll truly end up feeling so much for and the crap they have to deal with. Fantastic beautiful animation also the storyline and plot is just as good as the look of the show. Truly another banger.
AMC Interview with a Vampire- Now, this might sound like a controversial statement. But I deeply think and feel that this series version of interview with a Vampire is ten times more better then the movie. Not! That the movie is bad or anything, I very liked and enjoy the movie...but it never been one of my top fav movies to be honest. But the show on the other hand is so Top-notch on many levels, especially with the great performance of each actor. So Love Jacob Anderson playing as Louis de Pointe du lac and with him as an black man during 1900s America and how that's play into dealing with his vampirism, also his sexuality in terms of black queerness and showing the intricacies of the many challenges also jump ropes a black man having to keep the front of hypermasculinity especially black masculinity in a time era were being black your already seen as less than human is written so damned well. Also Sam Reid playing Lestat De Lioncourt is so fucking both great and entertaining to watch like for real, and Claudia in this show I feel is so much better then the one in the movie. Like I felt so much for her in this series. Like its so good.
Documentary Now- One of my most favorite comedy series that's never fails to creak me up. Like for real if you're interested in or into mockumentaries style of comedy then this show right here is right up there. Each episode focuses on a different "documentary " topic from dealing with a band rise & fall from success to the son of a famous chef overcoming his fears of chickens and taking over for his dad to a broken man that's ends up having a deep connection with a monkey. This show is just something else ^0^ .
Final Space- Final Space is probably one of if not the best adult animated series that I truly feel belongs right alongside with Bojack-Horseman to be honest. It's severely underrated in terms of adult animation which I think it's a shame because it really surprises me with how good it ended up becoming. At first glance looking at this sci-fi themed average typical comedy adult cartoon ended up being and becoming a much more well-rounded, emotional thought out very developed top-notch mature series. What I love about final space is that unlike other so-called “adult” animated shows is that it doesn’t try so hard with its adult humor or go overbroad with how much it tries to make it so “adultlike” such as having non-stop cussing or unnecessary super crude gore or out of place sex & nudity ( which I feel isn't always a bad thing when done right...but some adult cartoons tend to go overboard with it) This show has such a great balance of its comedy while also not afraid to get emotional serious about loss & grief or deal with some real heavy dramatic moments that are treated as serious as can be & isn't treated as a joke or a one off thing like how it would in certain other adult cartoons. One of the most mature animated series I've had the pleasure of watching & still pissed that it was done so wrong.
Welp that's about it! Sorry if this got too long ( ̄▽ ̄). This is just a couple of series I love. Tag in if ya'll want too!

Content warning for Racism Against Italians.
"Mrs. Williamson was the “saint in spectacles and calico” which Larry West had termed her. Eric liked her greatly." Can it be? A humanizing characteristic? My God, Mrs. Williamson really is a saint!
Joking aside, I am glad that Eric isn't completely aloof from the townsfolk. He's secretly condescending, even here, but it's genuinely refreshing to hear him display any amount of, like, positive feelings towards another person. We also learn that everyone assumes he is also a poor student working his way through school, and he doesn't dissuade anyone of that impression. So it does seem like, despite his internal monologue, he isn't "putting on airs" or being outwardly condescending. Honestly this book suffers greatly from being from Eric's perspective -- I feel like viewed from the outside he would be much more likeable at this point.
(Not that protagonists have to be likeable, but this book does seem to want the reader to like this man, and unsurprisingly, I don't, particularly.)
This book has quite a dim view of marriage, doesn't it? So far the options for marriage we have been presented with are:
-Marry a woman who is pretty and demure and presentable and will keep your house and host your guests and bear your children. She must have good breeding and a good background. (Rich people option)
-Marry a woman who will be your jailer for the rest of your life, and nag and harangue and make your life a misery until you die or she does. (Poor people option)
-Be a nice??? woman??? and marry a physically weak and unattractive man??? somehow??? (I don't fully understand why the Williamson's marriage doesn't compute for Eric. I am hoping we see more of them and it starts making more sense!)
The nice thing about living in a little, gossipy village is that it is not weird in the slightest to go, "Say, I saw someone weird on the road, can you tell me everything about them?"
“Well, now, you know, Master, I reckon it’s likely he does, seeing that that’s exactly what he is. You’ve hit the nail square on the head. Italyun, yes, sir! Rather too much so, I’m thinking, for decent folks’ taste.” And we were having such a good time too! Alas, the Racism must inexorably rear its head. I'm not going to quote the rest but, rest assured if you have not read this book, It Gets Worse. Perhaps Eric is confused why Mrs. Williamson married Robert Williamson because Robert Williamson is Racist? (It's not, but a girl can dream).
"Old James Gordon was living then, Thomas and Janet’s father, and he said he would never turn a child out of his door. He was a masterful old man and liked to be boss." Fascinated by this world in which a man refusing to turn out a day old infant left at his home is somehow the stubborn bad guy making mule-headed decisions.
“No, why, I thought they were on bad terms,” said Mrs. Williamson, betraying a little feminine curiosity" Eric, my man, you've just been interrogating these people about Neil Gordon. I don't think you can cast aspersions on anyone for being curious about their neighbors.
So the mysterious hot boy is named Neil Gordon and is the child of two traveling Italian peddlers. His mother died the day he was born and his father skipped town the day after, leaving baby Neil in the care of the Gordon family, who had been hosting his parents. Neil was raised amidst the townsfolk, but none of them like or trust him because he is Foreign, despite, you know, literally having been born in this town. Blood Will Out and all that. The Gordons live a little ways out of town and they are Queer and Dour and Keep To Themselves.
Also they have a niece. I am sure this detail will in no way be relevant to the rest of our story.

In the spirit (lol I think I'm hilarious) of posting more, here's a fragment of an au that I discovered in drafts. @davidbowierose this one's for you as I honestly haven't felt so inspired to write in a long time! Thanks babe! 💕
Tiny Dancer - Ghost AU
In a thousand realities, hundreds of worlds, and dozens of scenarios, it was never supposed to be like this.
Anna Harrison should have been doing warm up stretches for the mateine performance of La Sylphide—in which she played the title character—she should have been helping the youngest dancers tie up their pointe shoes while she calmed their fears, and she should have been smiling at the sight of the pink roses that were sent to her dressing room before curtain.
But instead she was sitting in the back of a taxi on the way to a strange address in Brooklyn. Not wanting to feel the pity of the taxi-driver in the rearview mirror, she shifted as best she could with the bulky cast on her left leg to face the door. Grimacing at the dull pain, Anna tried to silence the sound of snapping bone that never seemed stop echoing in her mind. Broken in three places, it would be a miracle if she recovered fully, much less danced again. Sucking in a breath as the unearthly sound she had made reverberated inside her head, Anna dug her nails into her palm letting the pain bring her back to reality.
Watching the raindrops race across the window, she sighed trying her best to hold back another onslaught of tears. Maybe it was true what people said, when it rains it pours and if this wasn’t the deluge of her lifetime then she dreaded to think how anything could get worse.
“We’re here miss, you sure this is the place?”
Glancing up at the sound of the driver’s voice, she nodded.
“This is the address, thank you,” she said, struggling for a moment to get her crutches out of the cab.
Looking at the dilapidated house for a moment, she spotted the rest of her luggage that she had had delivered on the front porch. Knowing without a doubt that this was the right place she took a deep breath as she started up the faded path.
The old tarnished key weighed heavily in her pocket as she hopped up the front steps, somehow managing not to fall as she pulled it out.
“Some inheritance,” she muttered, creaking open the door and stepping inside
Surprised that the entry hall was dry and not full of puddles from the rain, Anna reached for the yellowed light switch.
It was almost as if she’d stepped into a dusty old photograph, the lights slowly flickering to life on to a monochrome of aged blue wallpaper. Cobwebs hung from ever corner, it was clear no one had been here in a very long time. Just how long the house had been sitting empty she didn’t know but it was now her property.
In a very strange turn of events the day after her accident, a lawyer had contacted her saying that a distant relative of hers had passed and willed her the majority of their estate. It worked out well as there was no way she could bear to continue staying with her fellow dancers and needed to get as far away from Phillip as possible.
Phillip, her boyfriend of two years that had dumped her without reservation when he found out she couldn’t dance in the next season of shows. A broken ballerina didn’t look good on the arm of the producer’s son, so he’d brushed away her shattered pieces and moved on.
“And I need to do the same,” Anna said, pushing the darker thoughts away as she started to pull all of her things inside, determined to find a way to make this place hers.
“Hey Steve, you notice all the noise from the studio?”
Of course he had noticed it, the look he sent his best friend more than said that.
Rolling his eyes, Steve said, “Y’know Buck I really hadn’t. It’s not like I spend a lot of time in there.”
Narrowing his eyes, Bucky bumped him playfully as he said, “Okay smartass, I see you’re in good mood. It just seems like it’s gotten louder lately, you think it’s a…”
Trailing off, they both looked up as a particularly loud bump came from the celling where the studio was.
“I’m not sure, but from everything we know about them it’s highly likely,” Steve said, glancing back to the ceiling for a moment before looking back at his coffee. “There’s been activity all over the house, but it’s been loudest there. If anything else happens we’re going to have to register it, you know that right?”
Sighing, Bucky nodded as the noise lessened.
“I know, that’s just so much paperwork. But you have to admit it’s a bit exciting to think there’s finally something reaching out. A Link in our house of all places!”
Shrugging Steve sipped at his coffee before saying, “I guess, I can’t say I’m not curious but we both decided not to cross over a long time ago, so you have to wonder why now.”
Turning a chair around to sit in it backwards, Bucky smiled at his friend.
“I’m not sure punk, but I for one am pretty damm excited about having contact with the world of the living again. Being dead has it’s perks but this would shake things up for sure. I’ll be back in a bit, Sam wanted to meet up at the gym this afternoon.”
Watching Bucky leave, a thump from the floor above prompted Steve to think about what it could mean.
A Link wasn’t at all uncommon, but some ghosts went decades if not longer without one showing up, if one ever did that is. It was funny, everything people thought about death was right in a way, just as it was also completely wrong at the same time. When you died you were given two choices, cross over or live in the Inverse. There were all kinds of speculations of what was on the other side, some thought whatever belief system you subscribed to in life would determine it, others thought it was a vast nothingness, and even still some believed that it was where true rest and peace lied. No one was certain though, and while about half chose to cross, the ones that didn’t usually never did.
There was just as much fulfillment to be found in the Inverse, or at least Steve thought so. All his dream of art school and spending time on his drawings were a reality now, Bucky was the athletic trainer he’d always wanted to be before the war, so death wasn’t actually so bad. The afterlife was treating them well and from how it had been explained to the two of them, Steve gathered that the afterlife was simply a reverse of the living world, not opposite but reversed. Once you got used to things being a bit different it was almost like being alive again. There were days when he wondered what it would be like to cross over, if there was something better there, but he was never so tempted to actually do it and he wouldn’t go anywhere without Bucky.
Looking up as one more bump came from the room above him, Steve stood and took his mug to the sink.
“He’s not wrong, it would certainly be interesting to see what the world’s been up to,” he said to himself.
Of course, if it was a Link they would need to go to the External Choice and History Office, better known as ECHO, to officially register it in. Every Link that was discovered was documented, both for record purposes but also in the ongoing search to understand what might be on the other side. Link’s only appeared when a soul had something in the living world calling to them, no one could really explain it. Some researchers devoted their afterlives to studying it, trying to find the reason why they kept showing up, but no one had been able to figure it out after thousands of years. So having one turn up in their home was both intriguing and concerning, neither of them had any plans of crossing over but Links often ended in just that.
Shaking his head as he washed and put away his coffee cup, Steve headed upstairs to see if there was anything noteworthy to report to ECHO.
Upon entering the room, nothing looked out of place, but something felt off. Walking over to the far wall, Steve put his hand against it and was surprised at how cold it felt.
“That’s odd,” he muttered.
Dragging his hand across the wall, he confirmed that the entire wall felt the same, cool to the touch and harder than he remembered. Knocking softly on the wall he was met with the same sort of sound as if he was knocking on a window. Frowning at the wall, Steve searched for any sign of what might be causing it but couldn’t find anything different. Deciding to ignore it for now, he went to the corner of the room where his desk sat beneath the window.
“Might as well make good use of the quiet and finish these sketches.”
Now with the goal of finishing this latest set of drawings before Bucky got home, Steve lost himself in soft graphite, the wall all but forgotten.
It had been a long six months of contractors in and out, inconsistent time estimates, and strenuous physical therapy appointments but Anna was finally starting to feel more like herself again. The cast was off and even with the doubtful prognosis of her dancing again, she took the recommendation of keeping up with at home therapy as well as some beginner stretches to get back in the mindset of a dancer.
Having the house nearly finished helped a lot too, her decision to keep it instead of selling for property value having been one of the best she’d made in years. Much to the chagrin of the contractor she had hired, Anna had chosen to keep all of the original wood floors and built-ins, trying to preserve as much of the vintage feel of it as she could and she couldn’t have been happier with the result.
But her favorite room had to be the studio. No matter what anyone said, she was going to dance again and every dancer needed a place to practice. And as of today it was all finished, the mirrored wall completing it.
The loud blaring of car horns only served to remind Anna that she wasn’t used to living in such a large city, it was very different from her small hometown. Living out her dream as an editor at a publishing house was worth it, she’d take any amount of noise to do this for the rest of her life.
Catching a taxi was her only option to be on time at this point, so she reached her hand up to call one at the same time a sharp whistle pierced the air behind her.
“You two go on, I’ll catch the next one,” he said,
In a thousand realities, hundreds of worlds, and dozens of scenarios, it was always supposed to be like this.

I've been listening to the soundtrack of that ongoing musical project Epic: The Musical, and I have so many thoughts I really need to ramble to get them out of my system finally so
I will admit that on my first impression I found it a little too popsong-y and disconnected, I found it to be lacking the more showtune style music I tend to gravitate towards more with musicals and the background tracks being more pop-beat-focused didn't give me a strong musical feeling. But I know me and I only start to really grasp musicals on the second or third listen so by now I'm really enjoying it, though I still have a few lingering issues (with the caveat that it is not yet finished so maybe my feelings on it will change as more of the saga comes out), so here's a list of things that keep rolling in my mind.
The voice casting is suuuper solid, Athena and Polites especially stand out to me. Athena's singer really gives off the weight of presence and a voice that just instantly matches to the character, while Polites' singer just nails it with the positivity and the smile in his voice. Really enjoying both of their songs a lot by now. Odysseus sounds super good too. Honestly vocally the only real issue I have was the laugh Aeolus did...sounds a little too fake so it takes me out of the moment every time (the singing is gorgeous though, it's really just the laugh)
rn I'm kinda missing some ballads...I tend to be a ballad hater but I grew some appreciation for them in the last few years and without them it can feel a little overwhelming with all of it being plot imo. This might stand out to me more because they absolutely struck gold with "Just a Man" which is such a good emotional check-in with the character and culminates in a devastating moment.
I feel like it's a little bit of a missed opportunity to have most of the songs sound rather pop-y, I would have liked if perhaps Circe's entrance sounded more seductive (the layered backdrop just didn't super match, maybe that's just me) or if the Sea Saga sounded a little more sea-shanty-esque maybe? But I do recognize that the overall sound makes everything more cohesive, with the downside that on first listen the songs tended to blend together to me and no single melody really stuck in my mind. Also sorry but the rap part in Puppeteer was really unmotivated lmao, you don't have to be Hamilton.
So far I'm kinda missing the connective tissues and leitmotifs, I do pick up some small musical stuff the more I listen but they are really minimal or quick imo, it's missing something like the love song from Hadestown or in general repeated strong melodies idk idk.
I think my personal ranking of the Sagas is just the chronological order rn.
Overall, took me a few listens but I'm quite enjoying it now, I just think that overall it's just a little too pop for my taste (I love pop music mind you, I just also love strong melodies in my musicals)

AN: Short and sweet ending, but don't worry there's also an epilogue I'm posting right away (SPOILER: Skip the epilogue if you don't like babies)
You and Jason attended the Ted Lasso wrap party looking “disgustingly in love” as Juno said immediately upon seeing the two of you. It was bittersweet to say goodbye to the cast knowing this may be the last time all of them were together. Jason was surprisingly tight-lipped about the future of Ted Lasso, even with you. As a fan, you hoped for more Ted Lasso, but as the person literally stealing him away for your own show you were excited to get back to New York.
“So,” Juno started and you could tell from the glint in her and Hannah’s eyes they were being incredibly michevious. “Please tell me that going back to New York also means wedding bells?”
You scoffed, “It hasn’t been that long, and we’re both going to be busy…”
“Excuses, excuses,” Hannah dismissed with a wave, “Honestly I thought I’d see a ring right now, at the end of the wrap party.”
“Oh that would be so fun,” Juno clapped.
“What would be fun,” Jason joined the group, rubbing a circle on your back affectionately.
“You making an honest woman out of this one,” Hannah pointed at you and Jason smiled.
“You think she’d take me up on it?” Your eyes shot to Jason, trying to read if he could possibly be kidding, but as playful as he said it he was genuine. He met your eyes and just quirked an eyebrow at you. You sipped your drink instead of answering, but when Hannah and Juno weren’t looking you pulled Jason’s hand to your lips and kissed his ring finger. You knew he knew what you meant. That you were in this no matter what, ring or no ring.
The wrap party ended with tears and well wishes, and as you stepped out after the last goodbye you got a call from your Mom. You and Jason made surprised eye contact as the two of you walked back home and he gestured that you should answer it.
“Hi, uh, mom,” you sounded more flustered than you intended.
“Hey. How are you?”
“Uh, good, yeah.”
“I was just calling to tell you I’m excited for you to be back stateside.”
“Oh. Yeah.” You weren’t at your most eloquent but you were caught off guard.
Your mom sighed. “I know things have been weird. But I miss you and I’m proud of you.”
You stopped walking and Jason got worried but you held your hand up to gesture it was okay. You were just shocked that it was almost an apology.
“Thanks. Really. You’re still coming to visit, yeah?”
“Yeah, of course. Tell Jason I said hello.”
You hung up and laughed. “Well,” Jason asked reaching for your hand again.
“My mother says hello.”
“Fuck yeah,” Jason gave you an exaggerated fist bump and you giggled as you unlocked the door.
-
Working on your show was the hardest and most rewarding job you’d ever had. Added to that the edits on your short story collection and getting it published, rebuilding your relationship with your family who now not only called frequently, but loved Jason—of course, you didn’t understand how anyone couldn’t—it was all driving you a little crazy. Jason was there every step of the way. After the blowout and I love you’s you could tell he paid close attention to how overwhelmed you were getting and tried to step in where he could. You hoped he knew how appreciated he was, and you did your best to return the favor.
After nearly a year of writing and production, you were taking a well needed off day. Willa was visiting and so far you’d been shopping, gotten your nails done, and gossiped to your heart’s content over happy hour drinks. Jason also had the day off to spend with the kids and you had already received several selfies the kids had taken themselves to send you, and Willa cooed over them with you every time. You and Willa were just about to pick a place for dinner when you got a call from the script supervisor. You didn’t want to answer on your off day but you all were about to use up the largest chunk of your budget on an elaborate wedding in the 5th episode and there wasn’t much wiggle room for reshoots.
“Hey, Y/N, I know its your off day, but we just got some props delivered and I want to make sure it aligns with your vision in the script. Could you come by? Just for a minute?”
You looked at Willa, silently asking if she minded, and she shook her head no, so you agreed.
“Sure, I can swing by, don’t worry about it.”
“Dinner after I give you a tour of the set,” you asked Willa as you hung up.
“Sounds good,” Willa chirruped.
-
You and Willa laughed as you walked onto set but you cut yourself off mid laugh when you saw the wedding set… filled with people. Your people.
Jason walked towards you in a sharp black suit and tears were already springing to your eyes. He took both of your hands in his, also looking a little misty.
“Hi beautiful.”
“Jason, what are you…?”
“I love you. Very much. My kids love you very much,” he gestured to the two of them sitting with your niece and nephew, grinning harder than you’d ever seen them and you blew them kisses. “You are brilliant, you are funny, and you are my partner in all things. And, selfishly, I want you to be my partner in all things forever.”
You nodded, already too overcome with emotion to use your words.
“This show has been our lives. It's part of the reason we met and fell in love. It only felt right that this would be the place for us to make this thing,” he gestured between the two of you and you laughed, wiping tears from your cheeks, “permanent.”
You looked around the room at your family and his. At Juno, Hannah, Brett, and Brendan. At Sasha and the kids and Willa. At the set for this show you and Jason had poured everything into. All of this the result of the life the two of you had built together.
Jason lifted a hand to your face, wiping more tears, “What do you say?”
“I’m not dressed for this.” Everyone laughed and Willa held up a bag from your shopping trip early. Of course she had bought the cute white dress you had been looking at when you weren’t looking. God, she was a good friend. “And we’re not even engaged.”
“Oh silly me,” Jason smirked getting down on one knee and retrieving a delicate gold engagement ring from his lapel pocket. “Y/N, if you would do me the honor of being my wife…well, that would mean the world to me.”

I’m not saying liv should’ve like, pulled a u-turn and immediately gone after the van, esp with noah in the car, but she knew in her gut something was off, memorizing a plate number probably would’ve been a good idea.
ALSO WHILE WE’RE HERE. I’M FUCKING SALTY ABOUT CHURLISH. WHAT THE FUCK. (especially if there isn’t a single mention of her in this episode/where she’s gone.)
Oh Velasco… baby boi, I have missed you
Does Bruno have a medical alert bracelet on? And if so is that his or is that the actors?
Okay, at least Velasco was smart enough to keep hands on the perp instead of letting him run off like they normally do.
What the FUCK is going on?
Why am I still watching this show? LOL
Okay, see, this is the kind of amanda content I want to see, her popping up every so often in her professor role/mother/wife role, or just showing up to give carisi lunch kinda thing, not full time, not back on the force cause ESP after having a third kid there’s no way she’s coming back to be a cop.
The way olivia didn’t even bother to run cause she knew he wasn’t going far LOL, just all “bro, you’re gonna hurt yourself, and don’t make me hurt you…”
Okay but is olivia wearing the bracelet that she found in the van? (cause that should be in an evidence bag) or is she wearing one from one of the dolls? (cause that should also be evidence? And is lowkey weird…)
Have I just missed them or have there not been any/a lot of the dun-dun’s/time stamps, cause like…how long has madi been missing? How long have we been looking for her cause there’s no way that they kidnap her, make her into a doll, and make THAT many of them and produce them/that many people bought them in like a day or two….
Okay… we’re lacking detectives, with muncy and churlish gone is this new blonde gonna be joining the team? Will she last more than one season on the show?
God the politics side of jobs like this are infuriating
Okay imma assume that we’re gonna retouch on the case next week?  Cause that REALLY wasn’t a solid wrap up, like I get the metaphorical idea to it, but that coulda been done so much better.
Episode was meh overall.

OC time, yay! It really is playing them in order. Now if only the subtitles would fucking work. I’m so congested too, that’s not helping lol.
This theme song is the best out of all of them and I will die on this hill.
Oh right, we’re diving into fucking AI shit. It honestly better end up being a bad thing cause AI will destroy the film industry…
Omg bobby. I love you so much. God the cast of this show is all so incredible.
“god I love not being the boss” LOL
“welcome back detective ive missed you too. Can we take a breath and try that again.” Bell.. seriously… I fucking love you. How v Donnelly of her.
I absolutely love that bell isn’t afraid to call stabler on his shit. Like she is constantly reminding him that *she’s* the boss and we stan her for it.
The writing on this show is SO much better jfc. Jet all “that’s artificial intelligence.” To stabler lolololol
UNDERCOVER JET IS SO FUCKING HOT OMG. And like… ALWAYS not just now, but woof.
If they don’t start diving into more of bell’s personal life this season I will riot. Like, we’ve got out first main cast openly queer character on the show and all they’ve done is break up her marriage and family and rarely touch on it again. Like, does she even get to see her son? (son, right lol) does she ever talk to denise? Are they friendly? Can we PLS see her start to branch out and date again to get some fucking representation cause fuck knows we’re not getting it anywhere else in this universe.
Omg not the piece of fucking duct tape over the apple logo on the back of this dude’s computer LOL.
What was that little shoulder touch? And why was there so much focus on it?? Sus
“you’re just gonna walk into that beehive” ma’am… this is Elliot we’re talking about. You’ve known him three years now, you should know he likes to play by the seat of his pants. AND THE FIRST THING HE DOES IS MAKE DIRECT EYE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WHO LOOKS IN CHARGE?! DUDE. You’re dumb
Bobby and jet comforting each other and finding that comfort/coping with jamie’s death by fucking each other honestly makes perfect sense.
Okay, as much as I don’t ship eo and absolutely do not want it to be canon, I am thankful for more little mentions of the characters on the other shows. Like it didn’t make sense to bring back Elliot and have all the crossovers that we got and then pretend like they didn’t talk or keep up with what the other was doing in the eps that weren’t crossovers.
Okay. Now that’s done.
Fun fact: randall, this brother that we’re going to meet I now assume last week is being played by Jamie Gray Hyder’s husband. Cause like, I was suuuuper surprised to see Jamie at the 25th anniversary party, like, truly shocked that she would show up until I found this out LOL.
Honestly… SVU was the weak link of the premiers. If we had gotten more cute personal moments at the beginning with the baptism then it would jump up but we barely got any. It really seemed like a two part-er episode and I don’t think it is, or at least not one that will be continued next week. Either way, it was kinda meh.
