The Jordan River National Park is a great place to explore & hike the many footpaths whilst being surrounded by the beauty of God’s Creation, as you walk beside the River Jordan and through its offshoots.

Today we celebrate our Venerable Father among the Saints, Gerasimus of Cephalonia. Saint Gerasimus grew up a pious young man and travelled to Mount Argos to become a monk. He then visited the Holy Lands, where he became an attendant at the Holy Sepulchre. Here, he was ordained a deacon and priest by Patriarch Germanus of Jerusalem. For forty days, Saint Gerasimus struggled in the desert beyond the Jordan, just like his namesake Saint, and then requested a blessing to live a life of solitude on the island of Zakynthos. Having spent much time in prayer and fasting, Saint Gerasimus felt a calling to travel to the nearby island of Cephalonia where he lived in a cave. He built a women's monastery where he lived in asceticism for thirty years. Here, he achieved the heights of spirituality, being granted the gifts of wonderworking and healing. At the age of 71, the venerable one reposed in the Lord on August 15th. Because this is the feast of the Dormition, his celebration was moved to August 16th, but is more commonly celebrated on October 20th on the uncovering of his holy relics which were found incorrupt. May the Venerable Gerasimus intercede for us always + #saint #gerasimus #gerasimos #cephalonia #corfu #greece #zakynthos #zante #mountathos #ascetic #monk #deacon #priest #holysepulchre #holylands #jordan #jordanriver #palestine #orthodox #saintoftheday (at Kefalonia, Greece) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj5697DL6Q3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Jordan River
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Palestine - Jordan River, where Jesus got baptized, maybe.
A big crowd was gathered at the small, brown muddy river. It’s supposed to be the place, where Jesus got baptized in the Jordan river. These groups of believers obviously want follow their religion idol by get also blessed in that dirty water. There’s a singing, praying and even screaming all over the crowd. A few standing in the water, all in white clothes, and holding the believers. Some…

In this very river, Jesus Christ was baptized; and in this river, today, I renew my baptismal vows. Create in me a new heart, O Lord. "He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit." #jordanriver #jesuschrist #baptism 🙏🏼🤍🕊 (at Jordan River - Galilee Region - Israel) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgB_ag3Lfe5kOjuvr7LqDG-S-3JJ_B-gKy4YHY0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Trump hands out water to the ‘forgotten’ residents of East Palestine.
Located in Palestine, the Sea of Galilee, is where Jesus Christ was said to have walked on water.

Yardenit baptismal site is located along the Jordan River in the Galilee region of Israel & is a place many Christian pilgrims come to be baptised. People are baptised here to follow in the example of Jesus, who was baptised at Bethany Beyond Jordan, which was closed for many years, but now is open too.

Today we celebrate the memory of the Holy Prophet Elisha. Prophet Elisha was a disciple of Prophet Elijah and when the latter ascended to heaven, Prophet Elisha asked for double the blessing that Prophet Elijah would receive in Heaven. He was promised this and Elijah let down his clock, leaving it to Elisha. This was the start of his prophetic service. Through his prayers, Elisha divided the Jordan River, just like Moses and the Red Sea, he turned a salty, undrinkable spring into sweet, as well as many other miracles. May the Holy Prophet intercede for us all + #saint #prophet #elisha #elijah #prophetelijah #prophetelisha #miracle #partingoftheredsea #partingofthejordan #jordan #river #jordanriver #prophetic #prophecy #orthodox #saintoftheday (at Samaria) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cexe8IDv0G-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
