The way I see Jimin, he drips charisma so even when the look shouldn't work, it does, because something else that's innate to him draws you in. Plus I'm a fiend for his visuals.

The bond.

I really try hard not to go overboard delulu here on the ol' blog.

But sometimes there are things you just know in your gut, know what I mean?

When Jimin was breaking down during the ending ments of the MOTS7 concert, JK was watching him closely. He was fretting. He wanted to walk over there and comfort Jimin. But the cameras were rolling, He wanted to allow his Jiminie a chance to pull himself together and finish saying what he wanted to say. Also, he was respecting the situation and the other members. And there were probably dozens of staff surrounding them trying to do their jobs. Kookie stayed put as long as he could resist. In that moment he knew Jimin was capable of handling himself but it was JK who was struggling to control his own impulse as he watched Jimin break down in front of god and everybody.

And when he felt he could not hold himself back any longer, he left his spot in the line and stepped over there to check on his Jiminie. Helped with some soothing touches and words. Just like Jimin has done for him in the past. And Jimin... seeing his Kookie right there had to be the split second he snapped out of it and gathered himself together. The instant relief is palpable. He was in the process of self-soothing with his own little tummy rub but then Kook was there by his side and he was able to get it under control again.

My gut feeling is this: During the time leading up to that moment, the shitty year before and with everything that Jimin shared about his struggles which turned into songs for his Face album... he was leaning heavy on JK to get through it all.

JK is the type to roll with the punches and go with the flow, more capable of adapting to the pandemic shut down because his re-charge situation as an introvert is free-form alone time. Downtime wouldn't be something he would struggle with as much.

However, Jimin's core being is structure, a schedule, preferably doing an activity. Yes, he has said when he is home, he is down on the couch. But his personality thrives on constant activity. Jimin is a strong person, but as we now know, the whole situation was A LOT for him to take on and deal with in his "I live and breath to perform for Army" workaholic lifestyle.

My gut feeling is there were many similar moments between the two of them when Jimin unleashed his frustrations and emotions and Kookie was there to hold him up.

I imagine it wasn't easy for Jungkook either. Everyone struggled. But his outward demeanor was less frenetic and therefore had a calming affect on Jimin.

Besides Jimin's reliance on us, Army, to support him... Jungkook is also one of the reasons we have the song Letter.

I know many have already speculated why Letter is also for JK. The fact he sings background vocals and it is a "hidden" track. Jimin showed us that the original lyrics were a little more specific.

And being reminded and seeing this moment during the MOTS7 concert after everything else that's transpired is another reference as to why it would be.

A baby army phase is the main reason why alot do not believe in jikook, for various reasons spanning from the abundance of Y/Ns scenarios, armyblinks theories and an unhealthy exposure to tkk. Today however my focus is on the Jimin the flirt image.

I became an official ARMY after MOTS7 meaning I was a baby Army during lockdown so plenty of time to go through every YouTube recommendations. So from compilations videos, to performances, to taekook slow- mo edits -you name it I watched every youtube video a baby army in 2020 had to watch. And with all that comes certain and distinct images painted on every member.

Jimin is the flirt of the group, the womanizer and mostly the one to lure for male gazes. Jimin the one that knows his hot and very much loves the attention they give especially the attention coming from the male audience... once you JIM-IN you can't JIM-OUT (😂)

The video I want to highlight on is the access interview about the members favorite body parts... you know the famous clip on which Jimin lusts real hard for the interviewer that slaps his thighs that he loses concentration -yeah that one.

Time skip to December 2020, now I refer to myself as a well established ARMY and get to watch the jikook mma performance and I'm like wow are they beautiful. So yes after that day it was logical (human nature even) to search more on the pair because prior to that they were just known as Jimin the flirt and Jungkook the not-so willing victim because that how they were branded by ARMY.

So the more I watched, the more I realized that there is something different with the pair however as early as my Jikook honeymoon started it ended on February 2021. I stopped trying to degrees deeper meaning to them because... Jimin is the flirt he does it with everyone.

Fortunately pandora opens up again during Jimin's 2021 birthday live (still soft for that Jimin 🥹). That whole conversation of calling Jungkook over is still by far the most domestically romantic shit I have seen on media. Their interaction made one thing clear -there is more to jikook that meet the eye, they are in love.

So down the rabbit hole I go once again however this time not in search of the pairs perfect synergy on stage but for the pairs magical romantic moments. Funny enough I was expecting to see Tkk slow-mo type of edits but I was presented with a jackpot -GCF Tokyo directed by, edited by and filmed by Jungkook.

I was spooked, shocked and amazed that what I just watched was real and not just a fragment of my imagination. So I binged watched more (observation by a non-shipper.) And read about them extensively. A common timeline is established with the most important date being 08/11/15.

And that makes for the triumphant return of the JIMIN EFFECT videos especially the highlighted one. So I couldn't help but ask myself why in the world would Jimin lust over someone when his boyfriend is sitting right next to him??? and why is he such a flirt if he has been in a relationship all this time.

Questions like that came to mind immediately. However once I return to watch all those videos... I laughed at how stupid I am to make such things rise doubts to jikook being real. By this time I am two year old ARMY and aware that the image painted by ARMYs for baby ARMYs to follow aren't all that factual once you actually establish yourself into the fandom.

So yeah the baby army phase takes away validation of Jikook via high dosage of rubbish.

"Jimin is a flirt, he does it with everyone and Jungkook is just a victim of his flirtatious advances." a baby army just recently told me this, I was about to fight them however I realized I was once there but I saw beyond that... Unfortunately not all get to see how special Jungkook is to Jimin.

a few thoughts ✨

I really woke up today thinking that it was gonna be like any other day. And for all intents and purposes, it is. The sky is blue where I live, the birds are singing. I woke up to cuddles from my cat, and I was expecting to laugh and smile through the Festa live.

Instead, things didn’t go like I expected them to. And I was immediately transported back to 2020 having bought tickets for the MOTS7 tour, so excited to see BTS in concert. Except that didn’t go the way I expected it to either. During that time, when everything seemed dark and the future seemed so bleak, I saw the world become weary and worn out. Everything shut down around us, and we lost things and people we held dear. Amidst the shattered hopes and dreams, there was a ray of sunshine peeking through it all. That was Bangtan. When the world lost everything, they continued to give us hope and promise for the future. And after today’s news, I know they’ll continue to do the same.

My journey with Bangtan actually goes back a little bit further than that spring of 2020 though. During my second year of dental school, I was nearly failing out of school. Things weren’t making sense to me, and I felt so lost. There were a lot of times I just thought about quitting it all, giving up my hopes and dreams because I felt so numb. And then I met Kim Namjoon. Namjoon taught me that it’s okay to struggle, it’s okay to find your own way, even if it’s different from everyone else’s. That life can be beautiful and wonderful amidst the struggles, because we have so much to live for and so much to love for.

“Maybe I made a mistake yesterday, but yesterday’s me is still me. I am who I am today, with all my faults. Tomorrow I might be a tiny bit wiser, and that’s me, too. These faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life. I have come to love myself for who I was, who I am, and who I hope to become.”

Namjoon’s words and Bangtan’s comfort will always stick with me. The interviews, the concepts, the lives, the mvs, the mixtapes. I’m thankful for all of it, because they took some of the worst years of my life and gave me a reason to keep going, and to greet every day with a smile on my face. I graduated a few weeks ago, a moment I thought I’d never be able to see, and part of me just wants to write Bangtan a letter, thanking them for everything they’ve done, because just like I wouldn’t be Dr. Isi without the support of my friends and family, I wouldn’t be Dr. Isi without them either.

Now, as I face the next great challenge and transition to residency, I can’t help but think of the Festa live today. I remember that quote of Namjoon’s talking about Bangtan on a boat, all looking in seven different directions, but on the same boat at the end of the day. And my heart can heal. It can find peace in knowing that while this chapter has come to a close, there’s a whole new chapter waiting to be discovered. That both myself, and the boys, can spend this next period recovering from the burnout and the struggles that they thought no one would be able to understand, and abandon their worries to find happiness and tranquility.

I’m excited to move into my new apartment. It has lots of natural light and good acoustics so I know I can blast Hope World 2 and dance to Hoseok at Lollapalooza. I’m excited to go out and eat at new restaurants and cook and bake new things, and know that Jin is able to do the same. I’m excited to reunite with friends I haven’t seen in years and laugh and share stories together, just like Tae. I’m excited to learn new things in my classes and keep building my knowledge, but also serve as a mentor to younger students like Yoongi. I’m excited to just be able to leave work at the end of the day and have it be done, and come home and sleep on my mattress (I don’t have 25 though) like Jungkook. I’m excited to love and be loved in return, like Jimin. And I’m excited that life is going on, that I’m here to witness it all at my own pace, and that I can finally stop and smell the roses, ride my bike, and visit museums. Namjooning at its finest.

Words can never begin to cover the love I have for the boys and everything and everyone they’ve introduced me to, but I’ll say this: I’m glad to be in a world where there’s Bangtan. And after being part of each other’s lives for so long, we get a new season to explore together, to be happy together, and to face the future together. I can’t help but cry - but I don’t think all these tears are sad ones. Obviously when things change, it takes time to process. But soon enough, that change will blossom into something new and beautiful. Until the spring day comes again. 💜

it's currently 2 am and i'm crying for namjoon. i'm crying for seokjin and yoongi and hoseok. i'm crying for jimin, taehyung and jungkook. i'm crying and i had to realise after two days that it's not the group shift that's making me cry. it's the fact that they gave us so much for 10 years and never once complained. never once said to us that it's hard for them, that the pressure is too much. they only told us that they considered disbanding once. but they always thought of army, even when they were hurt and tired and wanted to stop being bts. i'm crying for all the things they had to lose just so they can be a comforting presence in our lives. i'm crying for all the things they want to but cannot share with us. i'm crying because they were so honest and raw with us and then the media took things out of context and twisted them until they once again had the need to comfort us. because they always think about us. i'm crying because they were afraid of disappointing us, as if that could ever happen. i'm crying because they feared our reaction, even if they did not ask for our understanding. i'm crying for their youth they had to lose in order to fly higher and higher. i think i'm crying because namjoon always wants to be rm of bts. he once said that bts is a group of people in the same boat: they are now looking in different directions, but they are still going the same way. 💜

I think these past few days armys cried enough to fill the ocean for kore to swim in 😂

going solo was never their goal, but they feel like it's necessary because their interests and styles aren't aligned anymore, but eventually they will come back together after they've rested and rediscovered themselves. i have the utmost respect for them for putting their artistry first before the fame, but it's almost practically unheard of in this industry which is why people are making such a fuss over it

I don't think they were 'suffering' all this time. I think the past 10 years they truly enjoyed what they were doing, and even though they planned to have this hiatus after MOTS7, i don't think they will say that they regretted making BE or Butter or Proof. I won't pretend to know how hard it must be for them at times, but the difficulties and hardships are all part of their journey. in the future, we'll look back at this moment and it'll be like just another bump in the road that we got through together

Why do you think it’s taking so long for Tae or Jungkook to release their solo work? Are they both really that picky or working at a slower pace? They’ve been teasing their mixtapes for years now with tantalizing snippets here and there and yet nothing. Not even a true solo single like Jin - and I don’t count collabs or OSTs. Are Hobi and Namjoon just that more together that they have finished their solo albums first? Or is something else happening? What are your thoughts?

Well, I think it's clear the BTS and BigHit have a plan regarding releases of albums and enlistment, and the order has probably pre-ordained for months, maybe even years.

Before that plan was implemented though, I think J Hope's album (which was originally a mixtape) had to be released first because out of the rappers he had only one mixtape at that point. I also think the reason he didn't get a physical release was because it was initially meant to be a mixtape possibly released during the MOTS7 Tour and therefore needed to be similar to RM and Suga's second mixtapes and be digital only.

So, I think the order of album releases are as follows (by releases I mean a physical album [w/ CD/Photobook/Photocards etc.]):

RM

Suga

J Hope

Jimin

Taehyung

Jungkook

I think they will release their album and then shortly afterwards announce their intention to enlist within a few months. In terms of enlistment, I still think they group in units around the same time...

Nov 22 to Feb 23 - RM & Jin Mar 23 to Jul 23 - Suga, J Hope & Jimin Aug 23 to Nov 23 - Tae & JK

In the meantime, I expect collabs, subunits and solo digital song releases to occur, possibly for OSTs or like JK's Dreamers.

By this time next year, I expect all the members to have enlisted, and we'd be entering a period of 6 months without any members interacting with us.

11 J-Hope Fashion Moments I Think We Need to Talk About More

It was on this day in 1994 that the world became (a lot) brighter. Today, we celebrate the sunshine of BTS, the one-man, party-starting pride of Gwangju, your hope, my hope: J-Hope.

We have all sorts of important business to attend to today, in honor of Hobi's birthday. First: let's acknowledge the endless joy that Jung Hoseok has brought us over the years. His talent is endless and his optimism is contagious — as enveloping as a warm hug at the end of a really bad day. He possesses a smile that could provide Earth with energy for the next 1,000 years. And what better time to gush over my favorite J-Hope outfits (and there are a lot of them, so pace yourself, ARMY) then on his birthday? It's no surprise that the man who named Snoopy as one of his biggest style influences has fun with fashion, landing somewhere at the intersection of "hypebeast" and "cutie pie" aesthetic. Let's raise a can of Sprite in his honor, stream Hope World all damn day, and worship the heart of BTS, our Hobitonin.

Proof Purple Velvet Can Cause Global Panic

Congrats to Hobi for inventing purple velvet!

In all seriousness, can you recall such exquisite use of purple since Prince?

For the 2020 Melon Music Awards, BTS performed "Black Swan," "On," and #1 Billboard hits "Life Goes On" and "Dynamite." The entire performance might have been the best seventeen minutes I've experienced since the pandemic started, and no moment was more gasp-worthy as when J-Hope appeared in a velvet jumpsuit. How widespread was the sartorially-induced meltdown that followed? All three of his names — J-Hope, Hobi, and Hoseok — immediately began trending on Twitter.

Not to mention that J-Hope and/or the genius stylist who was involved in this fit could have easily included a tuxedo shirt, a clavicle-grazing tank, a cool Gucci shirt — anything really. But they did not. Hobi woke up that day and chose chaos in the form of a purple velvet jumpsuit with no shirt.

I'm into that. I'm good to go.

Actually, the Entire "Dynamite" Era

A hill I will gladly die on: The entire "Dynamite" era is actually J-Hope's era. Sure, every member looked amazing, but the visuals Hobi was serving were downright deranged. The undercut and exposed forehead, the '70s-style Gucci suits, pumpkin spice J-Hope as seen on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert — I couldn't sleep for weeks with the never-ending onslaught of serves.

Malta Boyfriend Aesthetic

Be honest: Did you gasp the first time you saw this picture, fellow ARMY? I did.

For the third season of Bon Voyage in 2018, BTS traveled to Malta where fellow idol Jungkook snapped what might be the most ethereally beautiful picture of J-Hope ever. Seated by the water while a Malta sunset bathes him in golden honey light, J-Hope smolders in a crisp white button-down. This image is burned in my brain as peak "POV: Your rich boyfriend Hoseok takes you out to dinner'' fanfic material.

"Ego" Era

When the world locked down and BTS had to cancel their 2020 global stadium tour, ARMY feared we might never get to see a performance of J-Hope's MOTS7 solo song "Outro:Ego."Luckily for us, Bangtan never lets down their fans and pivoted to produce a virtual Map of the Soul ON:E concert this past October.

In total, almost a million viewers from 191 countries logged in to swoon over our Hobitonin and a performance as sparkly as his rhinestone encrusted Louis Vuitton denim (accessorized with two of the hottest, of-the-moment brands right now: Gentle Monster sunglasses and DiorxAir Jordan 1 Low sneakers).

MOTS7 Concept

How did this J-Hope escape? Shouldn't he be in the Louvre with all the other works of art?

These Map of the Soul: 7 concept pictures are the modern day equivalent of renaissance paintings. They're aching in their perfection — Hoseok's in particular. His glowing skin, his mythically beautiful face, his Dionysus-equse pose — you're telling me this is the same man who will wear a cartoon puppy hat and scream out of pure (somehow adorable) terror on amusement park rides? The duality this man possesses …

Hobicore

This fit checks every J-Hope aesthetic box possible. Bucket hat? Yes, in the form of a fuzzy Kangol one. Layers of insanely luxurious designer jewelry? Yup, Chanel dog tags! Cool, oversized street style shirt? Check!

For BTS's 2021 Season's Greeting package, J-Hope modeled this FreeVOLT shirt, a hip Korean street style line. As soon as J-Hope's pics hit the internet, the brand announced they would be donating the sales from this particular soon-to-be-sold-out T-shirt to charities that help underprivileged kids from all over the world. Add it to the (extremely long) list of charitable good deeds BTS has inspired.

Global Influencer J-Hope

Please direct your attention away from J-Hope's hot-enough-to-melt-the-ice-caps gaze (I know, it's tough) and to his fit. This is one of my personal favorites because of the cultural juxtaposition: a Korean gat (a traditional hat from the Joseon period) worn with the ultra modern and iconically American Nike Air Jordan 1s. The cross-global combination feels symbolic of J-Hope's worldwide, generation-spanning appeal and influence.

Let's Get It: "Chicken Noodle Soup"

Want to make any J-Hope bias weak? Four words: Chicken. Noodle. Soup. Hobi. During a BTS break, J-Hope flew to Los Angeles to film an instantly iconic music video for his collaboration with Becky G. The whole project is an amalgamation of everything we love about J-Hope: a high-octane, stays-in-your-head-forever song performed in the bright, sun-soaked locale with all those signature popping, rocking, hopping, tutting, dougie, flexing, swaggin' Gwangju moves. His neon-bright hypebeast fashion in the music video was briefly eclipsed by another "CNS" era fit though …

"CNS," Part 2

J-Hope returned to Seoul from L.A. in an airport outfit that caused an international meltdown. The idol, who rarely shows a sliver of skin, wore a barely buttoned star-printed denim jacket from Chemist with no shirt underneath. ARMYs everywhere had no choice but to collapse into the fetal position until they could figure out how to function again.

'90s Baby

Yes, the outfit is so great — a subtle nod to two '90s fashion icons: the return of the Hawaiian shirt thanks to Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet and Kurt Cobain's signature retro white sunglasses — but, more importantly, how perfectly "J-Hope'' is this picture? He is sunshine in human form — gleefully out of his chair and dancing to make his members smile (even Suga can't help grin!). Here's the video of the SiriusXM interview, for context. BTS was asked who is "most likely to brighten someone's day" and, well, of course it's you, J-Hope.

Winter Prince Hoseok

No. Not Hobi wearing a tuxedo like it's not the hottest thing ever.

I am, admittedly, a sucker for the whole 2019 Jingle Ball performance. It's the white tuxes. How can you resist Bangtan in the dapperest, crispest, most beautiful crystal-snow-white tuxedos? J-Hope in particular looks like a dazzling fairytale prince. Models everywhere should be forever-grateful that Jung Hoseok chose music for a career.

Black swan and ON are incomparable and Jimin owned both of those. All versions of the performances. But I also love IDOL. His roundhouse kicks are the best. And he is the only one who completes them. Everyone else drops it somewhat. My Jimin is an ace performer. He lives for this shit.

BTS and the quality of their music. Well. I personally think that they were tired. Dynamite and PTD and Butter were written for the non Korean audience and while these are good pop songs, they aren’t BTS. You cannot compare this to Dionysus, for example. The imagery, metaphorical style of writing and their don’t give two f**ks style was not in the Dynamite and PTD era. The only song I saw which has that in the recent past was RUN BTS.

Busan concert - I agree with you. But there were parts that BTS, collectively (except perhaps Hobi and some parts Yoongi) did not sound good. Again, I think they were tired. Of dealing with a whole lot of shit. So they didn’t give it their absolute all. I don’t blame them but I think it wasn’t up to their own standard. Also, bloggers are crucifying Jimin and Jungkook as being the worst performers during the Busan concert is just Jikook antis or JM antis and frankly I think that people need to look themselves hard in the mirror for being this way.

Hey! Welcome back ☺️ yes love IDOL and will probably never get over the performance they did of it for Jimmy Fallon in front of that building lit up behind them in the decked out modern hanbok. It was so damn cool!! In terms of choreo, that one for me is in the same realm as Dionysus choreo, in that I get that it matches the song, but it’s such an intense, aerobic style that it kind of ceases to be dancing at certain points and turns into like Insanity the workout 😂 I don’t mind it, but it’s definitely not as fluid and interesting as DNA, even Fire, and the others we mentioned.

Yeah I sort of wasn’t even including Dynamite, Butter and PTD, simply because they didn’t write those. So I don’t think that reflects on their quality of writing. I think Born Singer and Run BTS both have some very classic BTS vibes too. So idk, they haven’t released enough new stuff since MOTS7 for me to judge and say whether they’ve gone downhill, you know? And the solo stuff they have released has been quite good, to me. [edit after the fact - I was reminded by an anon that I completely ignored BE and they were right, I fully forgot about that album at the time I wrote this. I am ashamed. I love that album. So no, I don’t think their writing has gone downhill. I think there are ebbs and flows and different strokes for different folks and that I’m a jerk for forgetting about an album I really like]

Oh and YES!! I meant to say that Hobi and Suga both murdered that show, particularly Hobi. He was looking cool as hell up there and sounded great. He’s so talented.
