Stuff I would've liked to see if Rhys was real and not Joe's hallucination and Joe got over his hangup and did accept that he was a cold-blooded psycho killer and he likes killing actually, especially these people:
Rhys actually being friends with 'Jonathan Moore' and coming to the university to give a talk to his class about voting in the elections or something and Nadia sensing something off about their closeness because of course she would
Kate feeling like the third wheel when the three of them hang out together at Sundry House because what Rhys and Joe have is more than friendship
Joe actually liking Lady Phoebe and learning about Adam's plans to marry her for money and with Kate's suspicions about him being not good for her, decides to take out Adam next and tells Rhys who is absolutely thrilled that Joe is finally initiating things
Rhys and Joe bickering about the best way to kill (Joe makes his plans but he tends to go overboard when things go wrong and kills people accidentally way more often than not. Rhys who prefers planning every detail and contingency before they get into it)
But Gemma being who she is says something insensitive in front of Rhys when the group is discussing his plans as a mayor and also jokingly says that Jonathan might be the killer
Rhys getting super mad and killing Gemma the first opportunity he gets - not just because of what she said about minorities but because he's now more protective of Joe
Joe being the one who has to help Rhys get rid of the evidence this time and control him from going on any more anger-fueled kills because Rhys might also kill Roald the same way
Joe and Rhys staging Gemma's murder as another Eat-the-Rich killer death and Rhys giving more interviews about crime in London going unchecked because he has to but also talking more about wealth inequality and how the city's resources are being misappropriated
Rhys and Joe talking about books in between murders, Joe telling him about his work as a professor and how proud he is of his students especially Nadia who has written this great book (yes, he actually reads it) - and Rhys also agrees to read it
Nadia being so happy about getting feedback from the actual Rhys Montrose, the literary sensation, is reading her book that she forgets all about the off vibes she got and secures her future as a successful student who gets her degree without getting wrapped up in any murder business beyond reading about Eat the Rich killer in the news
Rhys and Joe finally executing their plan of capturing Adam but Roald's there too so they get them both and kidnap them
Adam being confused about why he's there at all and begging for his life because he's actually broke and saying how he thought they were friends
Roald just being a dick about it and saying how he always knew Jonathan was a killer but he tries appealing to Rhys saying he's a good person and Jonathan has probably corrupted him
Joe and Rhys just exchanging amused glances while this happens and then killing them together, like the murder husbands they are
But this happens to take a bit longer than they planned for and Joe is late to meet Kate
Rhys confronting Joe about the feelings they share because Joe might still be 'dating' Kate but Kate will never know him like he does
Joe just thinking about Rhys the whole time he is with Kate and then they hear the news about Adam and Roald's murder and he has to pretend to be shocked and Kate gets distracted by what's happening so she doesn't say anything for now
Kate's father sending even more security to her which makes her confide in Jonathan about her past with her father and how much she dislikes him
As Kate's father is also having articles published against Rhys
Joe talking to Rhys about it and they decide to kill her father together - but Rhys only agrees on the condition that Joe ends things with Kate because if he is the one to comfort her after her father dies knowing he's the reason for his death, he actually might have a psychotic break
Plus, isn't it better for her now that she's free? Wouldn't she want to start a new life, away from everyone who reminds her of the terrible time she's had the last couple of months with everyone dying?
Joe reluctantly agrees
Joe uses Kate's phone to call Kate's father to a meeting point where he'll be alone and Rhys and Joe ambush him
Tom Lockwood is actually surprised that Rhys is the Eat the Rich killer - he knew Jonathan was Joe and capable of killing but Rhys was a complete surprise
Rhys hears him try to talk his way out of this - Tom Lockwood even agreeing to back his election campaign but Rhys doesn't want his dirty money funding his run and he's confident he can win on his own
Joe is more than a little proud of that
Rhys lets Joe kill him - but he knows that if Joe isn't the one to pull the trigger, there is a chance he can rationalize his way out of it and get back together with Kate so he has to be the one to shoot Tom Lockwood
Joe knows what Rhys is doing but he goes along because he does feel something for Rhys that he doesn't with Kate, not at all
Joe and Rhys framing Lockwood's death as a suicide because otherwise it would draw too much attention
Rhys being a little sad they couldn't credit his death to the Eat the Rich killer, which was now their shared persona together, it would've been their magnum opus, but at least they'll always know it was them who pulled it off
Kate having conflicting feelings about her father's death, not believing that he would kill himself
Joe pulling away from Kate but also nudging Lady Phoebe to be there for her
Kate seeing Jonathan talk to Rhys and sees their chemistry that's now even more obvious and making the move to break up with him
And when Nadia hears about this, she just accepts that the vibes she got from Joe and Rhys was just them being in love and nothing sinister
Kate going on a vacation somewhere far away with Lady Phoebe
Rhys winning the election as the mayor because of course he would
Rhys coming to Joe's door on his winning night because he's the only one he wants to celebrate with
Joe already having a bottle of the best champagne ready because he knew Rhys would come
And finally, them planning their future together and setting their sights on the bad people in politics

i forgot one of the things i hate most about the arcana is how openly hostile every single fucking character is to julian. it's so stupid. every other love interest besides julian and lucio are besties or at least like each other, but julian is despised by the others and the narrative itself past the point that it even makes sense.
sure at first they can hate him, that's fine, they think he's a murderer, but even past that it's STILL constantly "oohhh julian's stupid julian's childish julian's work and interests and passions and sexual preferences are all so funny and silly and worthy of ridicule by everyone despite his discomfort and without his consent but also we're going to frame it as 'good-natured ribbing' narratively even though it's objectively just bullying" biting and clawing and maiming and killing. i hate these writers so fucking much.
EVERY OTHER CHARACTER is allowed to be portrayed as competent at their job and hobbies, even lucio to an extent. but not julian!!! julian sux lol!!!!! julian a Medical Doctor puts more trust in science than magic? omg BIGOT! julian who does not like, trust, or have any interest in magic, and has never studied it, can't tell when something is ""obviously"" magic to experienced magicians and assumes its effect to be medicinal? wow he's so STUPID OMG... julian uses strange methods in his practice like leeches? a common old-fashioned treatment in a old-fashioned setting [nevermind that it's a FANTASY setting and leeches may very well be effective in broader applications than irl (and yes there are modern irl instances of medicinal leeches why does everybody act like leeches are so wild and crazy medicine-wise?) in this universe? like they might literally just work? we don't know?] he must be a total hack lol i bet he gives patients cocaine too!! he was a pirate? bet he was bad at it! he's an actor? bet he's bad at it!
not to mention how WEIRD they are about his identity. like for a game that supposedly takes place in a world with no identity-based bigotry julian suuuuure faces a lot of what looks a lot like homophobia and bottom-shaming. don't worry you don't have to be threatened by him he's not a REAL man... no no he's cis we just mean he's submissive. but that's something everyone's allowed to tease him about, also, even though that's obviously inappropriate and mean as fuck. just. GOD. i fucking hate these devs. it's so fucking gross and stupid and weird. it doesn't even make sense, it just makes the other characters seem like assholes for how they're treating him, and especially when they write portia to bully him it doesn't even sound like her. i'm in hell. i'm in hell.

One of my favorite concepts in fiction is seeing older, more experienced heroes team-up and work together with younger heroes, and everyone is treated as an equal.
Between the Trigger Team-Up episodes of Ultraman Decker, the new JSA comic launching November, and a new Wasp mini-series staring both Janet & Nadia coming in January, I am eating good right now!

Iraq’s Yazidi's seek justice from international courts
Tumblr media
British lawyers have told The Guardian, that countries failed in their obligations to prevent genocide against Iraq's Yazidis. There has been little accountability for the Yazidi Genocide. It is also widely acknowledged that more than 5,000 Yazidis have been killed.
The lawyers, who formally announced their collaboration as the Yazidi Justice Committee on Tuesday, have been working over the past two and a half years to investigate the genocide committed by Islamic State.
The YJC lawyers have examined evidence that as many as 10 countries could be deemed responsible for the failure to prevent genocide under the UN’s Genocide Convention, and could be brought before a court of law.
The aim is to bring those states before the international court of justice (ICJ) and if the case was successful, the respondent states might then be required to pay reparations to the victims of Islamic State's genocide.
Tumblr media
Back in 2016, Nobel Prize winner Nadia Murad came to the UK where she met the AMAR Foundation's chair Baroness Emma Nicholson and Baroness Anelay of the UK’s Foreign Office, to discuss the plight of Iraq's Yazidi women.
As Baroness Nicholson stated; “What happened to Nadia and the thousands of other poor Yazidi women was absolutely shocking. Now, the world is finally waking up to the enormity of the crimes perpetrated against them. It is a Genocide. The sheer murderous brutality of the vile Daesh is almost beyond words.”

Hi! Could I request full HCs for MC getting in trouble/arrested for something they didn't do, but nobody believes them? Eventually they're proven innocent but maybe even the M6 might have a little flicker of doubt for a moment?
The Arcana HCs: MC gets falsely arrested
Julian
If you've ever worried that he can't relate to you in the past, he certainly can now! He's been in handcuffs plenty of times -
On a more serious note, he's not giving up on you for a second. Every moment that he's allowed to be by your side, he's there, and he's taking the best care of you that he possibly can
He doesn't doubt you for a second (he remembers what it was like) but he does doubt himself
What if this is secretly his fault? What if he did something he doesn't remember doing, and you got mistaken for him? What if he made someone angry so they framed you to get back at him?
Will suggest lying to take your place multiple times and might actually try it if you and Portia don't stop him
Might also suggest actually committing some kind of legal infraction of his own so he can at least join you in there
So relieved when you're acquitted that it's all he can talk about to everyone he meets for the next two months. Rubs it in the face of every friend who ever doubted you
Asra
They're annoyed, more than anything. And shocked. But mostly annoyed
Not at you, of course! No, he's annoyed at the fact that you're being confined somewhere that he can't be for you and that you're being treated so poorly
When you tell them the charges against you aren't true, they believe you completely, but truthfully they're less concerned with your innocence and more concerned with your wellbeing
Can and will attempt to break you out regardless
Would much rather blip you out of where you're being held and start a completely new life from scratch somewhere else then let the process drag on and on, watching you be silenced and doubted
Never misses a single visit
Never lets you feel like things are out of control. As long as you want to subject yourself to this, it's your decision, and as soon as you choose otherwise, say the word and you're both out
Immeasurably proud of you when you stick it out and are acquitted
Nadia
Furious. Absolutely furious. Seething with rage
A person of your character? Who holds the trust of the Countess herself and the admiration of the city?? Accused so recklessly???
Absolutely unacceptable
That said, she remains completely calm on the outside and allows things to proceed. She's been a fierce advocate of establishing a new, effective justice system, and she intends to see this through
Does her best not to extend her influence far enough to count as making the process unfair, but still ensures she gets to visit you at least once a day
There is a point as the evidence is assembled that she does find herself wondering, for a brief moment, if you really are guilty. If you forgot, if there were extenuating circumstances you can't tell her
And she hates herself for it as soon as she sees your face again
So smug when you're exonerated that the people who argued against you nearly make a run for the hills
Will make a point of publicly proclaiming your innocence after
Muriel
Triggered. Triggered. So. Very. Triggered
Hadn't heard anything about the incident itself until you were arrested, so he didn't know what to think until you told him you were innocent. Once you did, though, he believed you
He knows when someone's lying and when someone's telling the truth, and he needs to make sure that others can see your honesty
He also knows that he's not the person best suited to publicly helping you. Regardless of his circumstances, he has his own history in the cells that still make his stomach turn to walk past
He'll talk to Asra. He'll talk to Nadia. He'll put himself through hours of conversation with them and whoever else is determined to exonerate you, supplying every detail he has
And he'll brave the personal hell of seeing you live out the daily misery of his worst memories, behind the same bars, staring at the same stone walls, to be with you as the hours drag by
Beyond relieved when you (and he by extension) are freed and he can hide away in the woods with you to recover
Portia
She actually assumed the charges were true until you told her otherwise - you're her partner in crime for life, she's just wondering what pieces are missing to justify you and why she wasn't included
Until you tell her you're innocent, and she's furious
There is NO WAY you're getting falsely imprisoned on her watch. She will march to hell and back and drag whoever she needs to with her to get you out
Pushes nonstop both to have you acquitted and to sway public opinion about you. It feels like a hopeless task at first, but she doesn't give up and she has enough friends to pull it off
Might miss a visit or two, but never goes longer than a day without stopping to see you and always smuggles treats and comforts past the guards for you no matter how often you tell her not to
Actually manages to stage an impressive protest in your favor the day the decision is made
Takes you home and dotes on you nonstop afterwards ... and then victory marches you all around town to thank the helpful friends
Lucio
He tries to help you. He really, really does
He argues with the guards, screams at the people who sent for you to be arrested, and makes the racket of a lifetime
Which, unfortunately, only makes things worse
(Neither does him admitting to all of his own criminal history, in his attempt to argue that if he got forgiveness then you should too)
He's relieved when you tell him you didn't do it, and he clings to that belief like his life depends on it. You're the good thing in his life. Nobody takes away or denies him that good thing
All that pent up frustration needs an outlet of some kind, and that results in him hounding the assigned investigators instead into letting him help them
And help them he does - not with the books and papers, but with long nights and rabbit trails until the true culprit is found
One can imagine how proud he was to drag them by the collar to where you were, shaking the confession out of them and leaving with you. He deserves so many kisses and cookies for this -

I firmly believe in the one-state solution, but I remember reading Nadia Nasser-Najjab's foreword in Jeff Halper's Decolonizing Israel, Liberating Palestine:
“In addressing the Right of Return, Jeff accepts that it is not fair to expect Palestinians to live alongside those who were responsible for their expulsion and subsequent suffering. He proposes that this injustice could be addressed by the redistribution of resources and land. I believe, however, that such questions of justice can only be answered by those who were dispossessed.”
In contrast to the popular Israeli calls for supremacy and genocide, Palestinians have routinely put forth sound political solutions that prioritise justice and equity, but I can't imagine leaving them with the work of integrating into such a fascist society.
White people in SA are still terrible, despite never really being held accountable or forced to relinquish their gains from apartheid.
Palestine will be free, and Palestinians will figure it out. But it's going to be a tough journey, especially since they won't have the blind funding and support of the rich Arab states and the West. I need all those currently advocating to remain patient and vigilant.
yes i agree especially with your last point. i can't tell you what a free palestine will look like but there are many palestinians and antizionist jews who have written, illustrated, and ideated what a free palestine *could* look like.
i think part of our responsibility as artists (in whatever media that may be) is to dream up new possibilities for a free palestine as part of an active effort to manifest our future.

"The twelfth of the fatui harbingers. I urge you to confess to your crimes," The annoying voice repeated. You expected much from the Dendro archon. The intellectual out of the seven archons.
The smell of leaves blowing into the night. The tight bonds against your hands. Your body hovered in the centre of the room. The lighting only illuminated you and the archon. It hadn't served its purpose. Your lips were sealed shut.
Despite the many times Nahida had repeated the question, an answer never left your lips. The occasional chuckles and smiles only made the archon gulp harshly in response.
"Why don't you make me? You're meant to be an archon, aren't you? Upholding justice? What good are you if you can't make a simple pawn like myself speak?", You taunted, staring back at her with wide eyes. Your smile had only grown wider as you observed the lady.
Her hands clenched the helm of her skirt tightly as she stared blankly at the ground. She was at a loss. She'd soon give up on your little fight. She almost couldn't recognize you. Your outfit, your hairstyle, your aura. All of it had changed. You were colder. Much much colder. Your eyes had lost their spark and your once calming voice now incited fear.
"I am only trying to get to the bottom of this. It would be better if you cooperated", Nahida reasoned.
"When I have an archon backed into the corner? I'd rather die."
Her eyes search your face for changes. They looked for the smallest detail to show that you were still you. That this was just a sick joke and you didn't hospitalize the acting grand mage of Sumeru. That you didn't fight him and inflict multiple injuries. That you didn't poison him! You did.
Your chin was high and the subtle winks you sent her way showed no sign of repentance. You had come back to Sumeru with a purpose and you had succeded. You didn't intend on staying long but you wanted to make sure that Alhaitham and Linda were six feet under by the time you left.
"Please, this isn't you. You were calm and peaceful. You always knew how to put a smile on people's faces," Nahida reasoned once more this time coming closer to you. She straightened out her posture and her gaze was sharp. She was determined.
She watched your eyes widen and your smile drop. Your movements halted as you stared blankly at a wall. Your breaths quickened as the reality of the situation had truly set in.
"Please, I know you can overcome this"
"What have I done? What have I done?", You mumble lowly allowing Nadia's chest to swell. She was finally getting through to you. All she needed was one more push.
"Please, I know-", Nahida started but your manic laughter filled the room. The poor girl could feel her heart sink to her stomach.
"Don't waste your time Nahida. The sweet girl from before is dead. and you know who killed her?", You ask as her legs stumble backwards. Your hands broke out of the bond with ease. A small gasp escapes Nahida's lips and her legs stumble backwards once more.
You stalked up to her causing her to trip and land on the ground. You could see the sweat dripping down her forehead. You squat down to her eye levels allowing her to fully take in your appearance. The scars on your face, the flyaways of your hair and the brokenness of your eyes.
"They killed me. They did this to me. They killed me and so I did the same Nahida", You said, allowing a smile to play on your lips once more.
As your footprints drew farther away from her in the Sanctuary of Surasthana, she could feel a piece of herself break as well.
