The sun finally, finally set. Kane was used to having little idea of how much time was passing, but he was excruciatingly aware of it now. Day two of his punishment done.

See you in a week.

Five more to go.

For now, he had the night. It didn’t help much, not anywhere close to enough time for his broken body to heal the deep burns traversing his whole body, but at least he wasn’t actively burning under the sun anymore. The silver of his restraints barely registered against the giant mass of charred flesh his body had become.

His face melted together, his eyelids and lips each sealed shut. He could not stare wistfully at the night sky offering him a moment of refuge, nor could he cry out for mercy. There was no one he could call out to, anyway.

He’d never hurt more than he hurt right now. They’d never left him out for two days before. Kane had no idea how he was going to survive a whole week. He wished he wouldn’t. He wished he would die, could die.

But he couldn’t. He had to keep going, taking all the pain the hunters decided to hoist onto him, no other option available.

The night felt as short as the day felt long. Kane needed more time than it gave him, but despite his desperation, the sun rose come morning. He tried to scream as it licked his mangled skin once more, the sound caught in his sealed-shut mouth.

Make it stop! Please, please, I’m sorry! I’ll do anything, please let me back inside!

No one came.

Years of being held captive, under the vampires brutal persusasion has finally broken Declan, shattered his mind. Not living but not quite dead, paralysed in a comatose-like state. Vince decides his once delicious bloodbag has finally reached its end, selling it during it's final few days. When August sees the advert for the dying human, he knows what he must do. Taking on the responsibility of nursing Declan back to health - though he is woefully unprepared for just how deep and severe the damage is and the hardships that will arise whilst tackling it.

Summary: Raiza hears a rumor that spikes his curiosity. A vampire, helpless, powerless, and afraid, is being offered up to him on a silver platter by an old friend with a mixed reputation. Despite any moral sense, Raiza has been known to indulge in such... curiosities. And he's never met a beast he couldn't tame.

After years of captivity, Kane is a shell of the powerful vampire he once was. Endless torture, starvation, and abuse at the hands of his vampire hunter captors have rendered him an unrecognizable, traumatized husk of a man.

He begs for death. He gets Raiza instead.

💖 ahhhhh, tough question! i would say my fight scenes or writing action, whatever word you use to describe that type of writing lol. i once got told my fights were pretty realistic and fun to read, and i ran with it (absolutely inflated my ego ngl), i kind of pride myself on them though it also means they have to be perfect

🧠 oh man, i have a few that are just outlines but most usually have a few drabbles or scenes associated with them that i tinker with when bored. >>Jaye’s toughest battles are Venom & Carnage and Two-Faced Goblin (mainly emotional).

>>Jaye was adopted around 12-13, and grew up with Bruce and Talia (and later on, baby Damian), but also Uncle Harvey, Bruce’s best friend. Harvey, unfortunately, will be attacked and scarred by Tombstone (Maroni) and become the Two-Faced Goblin. 

>>Unclear if Jaye knows Willis is Prowler. 

>>Madame Web and Starling are newest additions to the hero community in Jaye’s time, and did not meet Barbara. Starling (Steph) knew of her because of her father and Madame knew her through her clairvoyance, but neither of them had ever met her face to face or interacted with one another.

And the lil drabble that started it all:

Out of all the leftover characters and remnants from Barbara’s time as Spidey, Black Cat is the only one she doesn’t mind.  Granted, he’s still a pain in the ass.  But, he also doesn’t try to kill her. Maim? Maybe, if she gets on his bad side. Use as a cat scratcher? More times than she can count, for no reason beyond “he was bored.”  He’s never gone for the jugular though and that she can appreciate.   And even she can admit, Barbara had good taste in men.

Cat and Mouse Masterlist

heya, moving the cat and mouse story to its own list since it's getting a bit longer!

summary: He didn't live anywhere near vampire territory, how did this happen? Danny's been taken by two very different vampires. Ciaran, the sadist, who hurts him whenever he pleases. And Marcus, who had a short temper, but overall understood the situation he'd forced Danny into and wanted to make it easier for him. How long will Danny last before losing his mind? Will he ever get to go home?

This story takes place in the same universe as @whumpsday 's Kane and Jim series, albeit, a good few decades after. It's one of my favorite whump series at the moment and I highly recommend it. Also worth noting that it's what inspired me to write Cat and Mouse in the first place!

didn't end up making it through whumptober, but here's the day 31 piece i had planned anyway :)

It was one of those nights. A night where the faces of Kane’s tormenters haunted his mind both in dreams and awake.

Awake was worse. At least a dream, he could wake up from, safe and sound in his room below Jim’s house. But the memories, those were worse. They were real, his skin tingling as he recalled the pain. The snap of a forcibly-broken bone, silver pressed against vulnerable flesh, the sting of a cattle prod, the wrathful kiss of the sun.

He gathered up his blanket and crawled underneath his bed, wrapping himself up there. It still didn’t feel safe, even though he’d been freed. The missing lock on the basement door felt more exposing than ever. Kane never imagined he’d miss being captive so much, but being Jim’s captive was safe.

It only got worse as the sun rose. He couldn’t see it from down here, of course, but his clock told him all he needed to know. Now he was well and truly trapped, a sitting duck for any hunters who wanted to pay him a visit and reintroduce him to the pain he’d been so spared over the past months.

But the sun brought more than just terror, here.

Jim woke soon enough, giving the door a couple of knocks before peeking inside. “Kane? You in there?”

Just as Jim was about to leave– right, it was okay if Kane wasn’t there, he was free to come and go as he pleased now– Kane piped up, his voice small and scared. “Yes, sir.”

Jim sighed, the sad kind. “Bad night?”

“Mm-hm.”

Kane felt the bed creak above him as Jim sat down, the delicious smell of human blood ever-closer. “It’s really over. I know it feels like it’s not sometimes, but you’re not going back.”

ok so in bbe (bloodbag el) el gets taken by kane right. @whumpsday and i went several different directions w this. and one is that seth ends up w anton. and then it branches off to one where anton keeps him forever, and one where anton gives him to ruby as a gift and he gets himself either graham or jim as a replacement.

seth is miserable w anton. absolutely fucked and ruined. anton keeps him in a shock collar and seth is TERRIFIED of being electrocuted. its an easy way to keep him in line :) anton breaks him.

in the version where he gets gifted to ruby, ruby treats him way kinder - kind of as a little lapdog. seth is pretty and she loves dressing him in cute outfits and posting him on her insta :)

also seth takes up... a coping mechanism... see one time, anton makes him dress up as a kitty bc of a drabble he posted on his blog. no not a drabble, an answer, where an anon said theyd wanna make him into a kitty and he replied "i'll shove that bell down ur throat." in bbe, anton gets el to show him seth's blog, so he sees the ask-

seth gets threatened into doing a kitty impression for anton, who just sends it to ruby bc she looooves it. but then... then seth kind of gets attached to the cat persona. the cat helps him detach. whenever shit goes DOWN, like RLY BAD, he goes full kitty mode, panicked mewling and all :) kitty seth... thats how broken he is in this au :) its not him being hurt, its the stupid kitty :))

I really love the trope where a caretaker rescues a whumpee, usually a stranger, without any idea of what actually happened to them. The mystery is fun and allows the reader to figure things out along with the stranger, although usually with the added bonus of a whumpee POV.

Which got me thinking about a potential way of structuring a series, loosely inspired by @whumpsday’s Kane and Jim series which moves about in the chronology.

The reader follows the whumpee’s POV for a short arc with a set number of instalments, but large parts of the story are absent at the beginning. Maybe it represents the whumpee’s unwillingness to talk or their inability to remember. A lot of the whump is inferred through the whumpee’s shifting mindset between instalments, and happens off the page.

Then, a turning point in the whumpee’s life, which happens at the end of the first arc. A lab rat escapes captivity, or a pet is rescued. The author goes back and starts filling in the “gaps” between each instalment—maybe sporadically, maybe in conjunction with a recovery arc, maybe not exactly in chronological order. Scenes and drabbles start emerging that paint a more overall picture, which informs what happens in the current arc.

I don’t know how well this would actually work or even if it would, but it’s an idea I’ve been playing with.
