i dont think i fully jive with the takes that shiv is stuck in the cycle to become her mother…like tom isn’t logan or kendall. they still have a lot of love for each other even though they’ve basically said everything to extinguish it. in a world where open vulnerability is career suicide he consistently continues to be vulnerable with her. tom has power but to what extent? it’s not like the roy’s became penniless after signing the deal, they just aren’t able to continue their father’s abusive legacy. tom still has nowhere near the level of wealth shiv has, and i think that balances their relationship out!
i personally think they’ll both be doing their best to pick up the shattered glass around them to try to become whole again for their child…tom also isn’t a serial cheater, unless you count emotionally infidelity with greg (i do). i also think unlike caroline shiv will provide a lot more love to her child because there isn’t an arms race anymore.
shiv’s tragedy(and victory?) to me is moreso that she never had a foot in the race to begin with…ultimately with all her intelligence and cunning, she lost out on the role of a CEO (twice!) because she is a woman in her father’s patriarchal world…by design it would never accommodate her. so she went ahead and twisted the knife in her father’s corpse, and was the killing blow to the world logan had built…girlbossed to the moon and back

i know the halfway joke is that the successor turned out to be just an empty suit who’s always willing to “suck the biggest dick in the room”, and that’s valid, but the fact that tom immediately chose karolina over hugo and brought gerri back into the fold tells me that he has learned what logan and even the boys did not, which is that while you may not let the women take the lead (because this is still a patriarchal pecking order), you keep them close and you always make them work for you. because, at the end of the day, you still need them. really, tom won by relying on women. kendall lost jess and rava, roman lost gerri. kendall and roman screwed shiv over, which gave her plenty of reason to side with matsson. tom, meanwhile, got shiv to protect him from matsson and relied on her to get ahead. tom may suck dick when needed, but, and i hate to say this, he understands the value of pussy lol.

the thing about logan and his abuse and the cages he built around the things he loved and the dogs he kicked is that it wasn’t just about his children, not by a long shot. of course kendall and roman and siobhan are doomed, but that makes sense, it’s obvious, the poison was in their blood from the second they were born. what about frank and karl, who can’t answer ‘how bad was dad’ honestly, even when logan is literally entombed within their line of sight? what about gerri, who ‘could have gotten you there,’ who has to be chased away not just by logan but by his son, and even then couldn’t stay gone? what about tom, who kept fighting his wife, her brothers, who kept scrabbling tooth and nail, who shook matsson’s hand with a smile because he did what none of them could do, who won? what about stewy, who was ‘team ken, baby’ with nothing in it at all for him, with nothing to lose from walking? what about greg, a penciled addendum with a question mark that maybe ties him to kendall, that maybe means he always should have been second-in-command? what about karolina and hugo, always belittled, always insulted, and always ripping tearing backstabbing desperately trying to be more important to the roys than the other? what about rava, always reaching back for kendall, always going to weddings and thanksgivings and waiting for her ex-husband by the phone?
forget about the siblings. forget them. all of the cages are open. why are all of you still in there?

i am crying, laughing and throwing up. You will NEVER guess what's this about.
like, I will give you time to prepare your guesses and write in replies, and then look under the cut.
A Ukrainian-born girl, Karolina Shiino, who moved to Japan with her mom when she was little, and grew up there, became Japanese - she won a beauty pageant. Someone "dug out" her "real name" which they thought is Jewish - so they started calling her names and all that.
fellas, is it zionism and or genocidal if you win a beauty pageant in your own country???

Carolina Östberg was one of the most famous and beloved singers of all on the Swedish opera stage during the last decades of the 1800s.
Carolina Östberg was born in Stockholm in 1853. She was the daughter of the master barber surgeon Johan Ludvig Östberg and Beata Ulrika Wallberg. Even as a child, Carolina Östberg showed that she was naturally musically gifted. It was however not until she was about 16, and accepted as a pupil at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, that she was given the opportunity to develop this talent further. Carolina Östberg studied Christina Nilsson’s and Zelia Trebelli’s singing methods thoroughly when they visited Sweden, but she considered that she had her singing teacher, Professor Joseph Günther, to thank for her highly developed singing technique.
After three years of studies, she made her stage debut at the Royal Theatre, nowadays the Royal Opera in Stockholm, when she entered the great stage in the role of Anna in the opera Der Freischütz, on 15 December 1873. The critics wrote that this unusually talented debutante had a soprano voice with a fresh, clear and pure timbre and that she also showed evidence of careful training in coloratura. The year after, she had yet another achievement in the male role Carlo Broschi in Daniel Auber’s opera La Part du Diable, and was given a contract. During her three years at the Royal Theatre, she created important Mozart roles such as, among others, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and Papageno and one of the genies in Der Zauberflöte. For each new performance, Carolina Östberg won ever greater recognition from critics and audiences alike.
When her contract ended in 1877, Carolina Östberg planned to educate herself further in St Petersburg. However, the journey was cancelled since instead she married the wholesale dealer Moritz Horwitz the year after, and chose to leave the stage to the audience’s great disappointment, apparently permanently. The prevailing period of depression in Sweden meant however that her husband’s income was very meagre. Carolina Östberg decided to return to the stage once more. Her unexpected return in 1879 as the title role in Franz von Suppé’s operetta Boccaccio on the stage of Nya teatern was such a roaring success that it created total Boccaccio-fever in the capital. The acclaimed performance sold out time and again and Carolina Östberg was paid a staggering fee of 100 kronor per evening. Her engagement at Nya teatern lasted until 1885 and she played the main role in among other works Charles Lecocq’s opera Le Petit Duc, Madame Favart by Offenbach, and Charles Grisart’s Les Poupées de l’Infante. During her years at the theatre, Carolina Östberg gave guest performances at many other theatres, for example in Denmark in 1880, Germany and the Netherlands in 1882—1883 and Norway in 1885.
When Carolina Östberg once again was given a contract at the Royal Theatre in 1886, this was considered a triumph for the audience who had demanded her return to the great dramatic stage for a very long time. Apart from a break for touring America in 1892—1894, Carolina Östberg belonged to the permanent ensemble at the Royal Theatre until 1906 when she resigned to work as a private singing teacher, an enterprise that she had carried on parallel to the theatre for several years.
In 1897, Carolina Östberg was elected to be a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. She was awarded the medal Litteris et Artibus in 1891 and on King Oscar II’s birthday in 1900, Carolina Östberg received from his hand the unusual medal Litteris et Artibus decorated with diamonds. Carolina Östberg was a member of Idun’s women’s academy for a while, along with – among others – Selma Lagerlöf, Agda Montelius and Karolina Widerström.
Carolina Östberg died on 27 February 1924. She lies buried at the Northern Cemetery in Solna. Her voice has been preserved on nine gramophone recordings from 1905.

Hi hi hello hi, if you're still taking the little OTP prompts, for beloved shivlina, what would do you think of #5 (yes I know, the idea of shiv+physical affection, unhinged, I know, but PRECISELY), #19, and #25?
5. Who makes the first move to cuddle?
You guys are gonna judge me for this, but Shiv. It happens while they're sleeping. Shiv kinda stirs awake and she realizes she is fully death-grip big-spooning Karolina. She instantly, groggily goes "Oh shit, sorry." And Karolina, who's still technically asleep and doesn't even know what's going on, goes, "What?"
Shiv, trying to be cool about it, tries out of bed, mumbling about making coffee, but Karolina pulls her back, tells her to chill for five minutes cause it's Sunday, and eventually, Shiv settles into it. She decides it's kinda nice, actually. She's not going to make a habit of it, but it's nice.
19. Where would they go to get away from everyone else and just be alone?
They have a suite at a hotel that is now kind unofficially theirs. At first, that place was Karolina's home. And that's still the designated spot to just hang out. Sometimes, their meetings there are about work, sometimes they start with work, before they inevitably lose track of time and then it's just about each other. But that doesn't feel right on the days where everything feels suffocating. It's too easy to break that barrier between the world they're a part of, and the world that exists only between them in Karolina's home. Sometimes, you need an island to run away to. Sometimes you need to go to a hotel and pretend you're somewhere else. It doesn't feel like hiding there. It's still illicit in that way they both enjoy but don't talk about, and it's private. If no one knows where you are, you don't have to worry about the phone ringing. You don't have to worry about the baby that never was, or the divorce that never happened, or Matssen using Tom as a sock puppet, or or or...
If there's nothing around you that's familiar, you can lose yourself in a few hours of mutual isolation. Shiv once called it "partnered dissociation" and Karolina, sleepy in the way baths make her sleepy, flicked water at her from the other end of the tub before beckoning Shiv over with a short and sweet, "C'mere." It's the easiest debate Shiv's ever won.
It's an intermittent safe space, the hotel suite, and while they enjoy their time there, there's an unspoken agreement that one day, if all goes according to plan, they won't need it.
25. First time one person sees the other one crying. What about? How do they cheer the other up? Is the crying person comfortable with crying on one’s shoulder?
(sorry in advance for the angst)
The first time Karolina sees Shiv cry real, not-holding-back tears, is at Logan's funeral. Not during, not while everyone is still around, but later, when everyone has kind of scattered and it's just the old guard hanging around the cemetery--whether out of respect or out of habit ins't clear to anyone. Karolina finds Shiv by accident, in some tiny, dusty corner behind a chapel where Karolina was hoping she could have a cigarette.
Shiv's startled, and Karolina is apologetic, and though they agreed they wouldn't spend time alone anymore, that it was best for everyone, and even though Shiv tries to assure her it's okay to leave, that she just needs to let it out, to purge, Karolina stays with her. They stand together, leaning against the cold stone wall while Shiv cries and Karolina waits with her. When it's over, when Shiv can catch her breath, she asks Karolina for a smoke. Their hands brush when Karolina hands her a cigarette, and they both pretend they don't feel anything. When Shiv's cigarette is lit, and she's breathing evenly, Karolina asks, "You good?" and Shiv replies, "Yeah," while hesitantly finding Karolina's hand between them, their pinkies barely linking before Karolina inhales sharply and steps out of reach. As she walks away, she says, "I'm sorry for your loss."

tom only ‘won’ succession in the most superficial way, because he’s still a puppet and matsson can do with him whatever he likes.
technically matsson won succession since he got exactly what he wanted.
gerri and karolina also won because they’re staying and slaying.
jess won because she got out and cut her losses. so did rava.
but emotionally? somehow it’s roman who’s in the healthier place, because he understood what kendall always failed to see… that they’re all bullshit, they’re nothing. they’re all entitled children playing with something they don’t even understand and pretending they have a right to anything because of who their father was, even if he’s long gone and he himself wouldn’t have chosen any of them anyway

Ranking UFC 301 fights by my level of interest. It's not a great PPV card but there are match ups that do interest me.
Alexandre Pantoja (C) vs Steve Erceg - the UFC constantly does bs to undermine the flyweight division. Remember when they had John Moraga fighting on the facebook prelims before being thrust into a title fight against DJ? Well, Erceg is only getting slightly better treatment. But at least Erceg has shown himself to be a unique and diversified threat. He's got some really clean boxing and a solid wrestling game that pair well together. Will that be able to lift him up despite his limited experience against elite flyweight competition? We will see. Pantoja is nothing if not consistent. He will find his way to his dangerous grappling game, even if it involves starting firefights to do it. Should make for an exciting fight.
Joanderson Brito vs Jack Shore - We got two interesting 29 year old featherweights on the rise. I really like both fighter's games. Brito is a dangerous man who has finished his last four opponents. He's not the most technically sound but he's an athletic, aggressive and a fantastic opportunist when given the chance to finish. Jack Shore is a workman. He's crafty and skilled everywhere. Not as much of a danger as Brito but has a more cohesive approach to fighting. Should be a banger fight.
Jose Aldo vs Jonathan Martinez - The dire state of this PPV called for the UFC to ask for Aldo to come back. And they're giving him a fantastic leg kicker, which should be interesting. Martinez is on a big run. He's won 6 straight, where he's won two fights by leg kick KOs. He's got a Nurmagomedov on the resume (Said), Yanez, and Swanson. If there was a time to get a big win and establish himself as a true bantamweight contender, this is the fight to do it. Especially against an Aldo that has been retired for 2 years and only doing boxing in the interim. But Aldo has never had issues with kickers.
Elves Brener vs Myktybek Orolbai - Brener has built himself a ton of momentum. The Brazilian 155er knocked off a couple of former highly regarded prospects in Zubaira Tukhugov and Guram Kutateladze to kick off his UFC career and then knocked off fellow Brazilian Kaynan Kruschewsky. Orolbai came into the UFC and neck cranked the hell out of Uros Medic. This should be a good one!
Iasmin Lucindo vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz - After losing 5 straight fights, Kowalkiewicz has managed to rebuild her career. Brick by brick. She has rattled off four straight wins. And while I wouldn't call any of the women she has beaten elite, the fact she's still adapting as she is pushing 40 is impressive. Lucindo has also been impressive. The 22 year old has been putting on impressive performances in the UFC from the jump and has started looking like a legit prospect to watch out for at strawweight.
Michel Pereira vs Ihor Potieria - Michel Pereira was always too much of a meme fighter to not be a middleweight. And while the crazy flips and capoeira kicks are gone, he has just turned to knocking people out instantly since moving up. Ihor Potieria is coming from the opposite direction, moving down from 205lbs. And he looked good in his debut in the weight class. Not a world beater but he's looking more and more like a complete fighter. This should be good. Plenty of potential for a mess.
Alessandro Costa vs Kevin Borjas - Costa is a guy that is athletic enough to be UFC flyweight champion. He's got dynamite in his hands and is extremely fast. He turned Erceg into a wrestler with his physical advantages. With some direction and more cage time, guy could be a legit challenger. I just hope to see him active. I don't have much to say about Borjas, so down the ladder this goes.

Hello! I currently have this story up on wattpad, and it is very much a work in progress. I thought I would bring it to more platforms for more people to get a chance to read it. I hope you enjoy, and welcome to Chapter 1.
The Experiment
Everyone was tense, you could feel it, you could see it.
The world could be changed in a way no one thought possible.
The war could be won. But I mean, it couldn't change everything now, could it?
Scientists in white lab coats were scuttling around the machines, all preparing for the injection of the serum. Steve Rogers walked in, Peggy right behind him. Peggy had mentioned him, a good-hearted soldier who was very kind to Peggy and had tried to enroll many times before they actually gave him an entry. This was the first time she herself would actually get the chance to meet him. As Karolina looked over, she saw them get caught by the flash of a camera when Steve and the doctor shook hands before the doctor waved them away. A few words were exchanged, but she couldn't hear much from where she stood. Peggy looked over at the brown-haired woman as they gave each other subtle nods before getting back to what they were doing.
Most of the women were the nurses or the helpers, yet Karolina, she was among the scientists in those white coats.
She looked over at Steve one last time before catching Howard's gaze, "Everything ready?" She walked over and stood next to him. "Only one way to find out." Karolina rolled her eyes with a soft smile, she took off her white coat and threw it on a chair. "That's your response to everything now isn't it?" Stark looked over at her from his shoulder with a small shrug. She shook her head as she walked over to the right side of Steve who was laying down, "Don't be nervous, if you feel anything wrong you tell us okay?" She looked into his eyes, pretty shade, she thought. "I got it." he nods as she gives him a reassuring smile. "Good."
Her hair was to her shoulders, a dark brown color. They were in some loose waves, and out of her face, she wore a formal buttoned up white shirt and a pair of black wide-legged pants.
Karolina and Stark both readied the machine, and soon enough, the capsule was ready. Both of them had been working on this machine for the past couple of years, yet when they started they always thought of it as a pipe dream, that was until Doctor Erskine had developed a serum and approached them with it. The doctor stepped closer to the observatory box with a mic as he began to speak.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, today we take not another step towards annihilation, but the first step on the path to peace. We begin with a series of micro-injections into the subject's major muscle groups." He walked over to Steve as he continued. Karolina looked up at Peggy in her chair before going to help Stark. Her look said it all. She was nervous, everyone was. This was exactly what they called it, a trial. No one knew what to expect, no hypothesis with a dominating percentage, no for sure outcome. It was left to be an estimated guess.
Karolina watched the scientists slowly stop working as they waited on Doctor Erskine's signal. Something odd made a pain appear in Karolina's neck causing her to flinch slightly. Something was wrong. She didn't know what but she felt it. Something was going to happen. Her gaze immediately flicked to the young boy in the capsule.
"The serum infusion will cause immediate cellular change. And then, to stimulate growth, the subject will be saturated with Vita-Rays...
Serum infusion beginning in five,
four,
three,
two,
one."
As the percentages kept going higher, Steve's screams were heard through the capsule as Karolina froze and lifted her hands from the switch. "Stark," she warned and watched Peggy run out of her seat, "Shut it down!" As the lights inside the capsule get brighter and everyone tries to shield their eyes, Doctor Erskine looks over between the machine and the panel where the other scientists stood. "Mr. Stark kill the reactors." Steve's voice was the next to be heard in a yell, "No! I can do it!" Before Karolina could say anything she saw Stark go back to increasing the power until it reached 100 percent. A few seconds later, it shot sparks of electricity from the panel as it powered off.
Silence engulfed the room as Steve stayed quiet. Everyone was left in suspense, the silence became uncomfortable as they all awaited what truth would lie within the capsule.
As the capsule began to open everyone held their breath, steam rolled out to the capsule and then... relief washed over everyone. Wide-eyed shock filled even the emotionless people who laid eyes on the once skinny guy, now turned into what Karolina liked to call a super soldier. Yet no one thought it would catch on.
A few moments later, the inevitable happened. "Doctor!" Karolina yelled out as the gunshot went off. She ran over next to Steve as he soon went after the undercover Nazi. Peggy soon followed suit and ran after Steve. Karolina walked over shards of glass from the explosion in the observatory and watched the doctor fade away. She took a deep breath and a step back before feeling Stark right behind her, it took her a moment before realizing. "Peggy."
She ran out of the building to see Steve push Peggy out of the way of a moving car before he started running again. "Peggy!" Karolina ran over, "I'm alright." Peggy shook her head and dusted her arms off from the pavement. "And Steve?" Karolina asked as she placed her hand on Peggy's shoulder slowly and nudged her arm softly for them to walk away from the middle of the scene before other people got too curious.
"Went after him, we'll find him." Karolina nodded before looking around. She got a hold of Peggy's arm. "Come on, the doctor... he didn't make it," she said softly in an exhale and went back inside the building with her.
A/N: and there it is... more to come ☆
