Song Review: Keith Richards - “I’m Waiting for the Man”

If there’s anyone unkempt and druggy enough to convincingly cover “I’m Waiting for the Man,” it’s Keith Richards.

And so it shall be.

The Rolling Stone re-recorded the Velvet Underground & Nico track for the forthcoming various-artists collection The Power of the Heart: A Tribute to Lou Reed. It’s also the lead single.

With a short a capella intro and higher fidelity than the original, Richards nevertheless stays close to Reed and the Velvet’s arrangement while transforming it into the quintessential Keef Riff Hard cut. Not small feat, that, but Richards knows of which he sings on “I’m Waiting for the Man.”

“To me, Lou stood out,” Richards said in a statement. “The real deal! Something important to American music and to all music. I miss him and his dog.”

Arriving on 4/20 - natch - The Power of the Heart includes contributions from a motley array of admirers including Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Rufus Wainwright, Lucinda Williams, Maxim Ludwig and Angel Olsen, Rickie Lee Jones, Mary Gauthier, Bobby Rush, Automatic, the Afghan Whigs, Rosanne Cash and Brogan Bentley.

TLJ is a good charismatic lead‚ and apparently adlibbed a lot #of his own dialogue (but was also reportedly difficult to work with and particularly clashed with Hamilton; he was struggling with #alcoholism during filming) and there's a lot of heavy hitters in that cast but it perhaps spreads itself too thin: i always enjoy seeing #Keenan Wynn turn up (and this was his final film) but his character is under developed and adds nothing to the plot‚ and should #probably have been cut... and maybe more time given to Robert Vaughn's big villain‚ whose deeper motives (beyond stealing fancy cars)#remain largely unexplored. the super duper future car is pretty cool‚ even if it does test the limits of belief at times. idk i think it's #just taking itself a little too seriously in places‚ forgetting to have fun with what is essentially a pretty silly idea. this was a john #carpenter script‚ but his involvement ended there; can't help but feel that if he'd directed it then it would have been more successful #and matched the campy tone of Christine or They Live. a slightly missed opportunity but not a waste of time by any means

The Headwear of “I Love Lucy”

During the 1950′s hats were a standard wardrobe item for men and women. They combined form, function, and fashion. Here’s a look at some of the amazing hats that graced the heads of “I Love Lucy.”

Right from the start, Lucille Ball made hats comedy by wearing a lampshade on her head to transform herself into a Ziegfeld Girl. The same moment was later recreated on the series itself.

For Lucy, nothing was worth than shopping with no money to spend! Mrs. Mumford wasn’t shy about tempting Lucy into buying a new hat.

Lucy went to great lengths to conceal the price tag of her new hats from budget-conscious Ricky! Gulp!

When Lucy noticed Ricky wearing his hat to breakfast (to hide his receding hairline), she fought topper with topper!

LUCY: “It’s like having breakfast in a beanery!”

A good hat could be used time and again! This jacket was seen with and without its fur collar - from New York, to London, to Paris - fashion capitols of the world!

Lucy got comic mileage out of crushing a straw hat, as she did here with Maurice Chevalier, and earlier with Ricky’s Uncle Alberto in Cuba.

Sometimes a hat can be more than just a wardrobe item, but an important prop!

Family Feud Nominations, Who is the Best Doctor Who Family

If I've missed a character out of one of the families let me know (within reason, I imagine all these families are massive in the EU, so prioritise tv or significant characters)

Currently, the only rule is no families may inculde anyone who is even ambiguously The Doctor, it'll get super complicated super fast imo

Any characters, eg River, who can link up multiple different families to create a single massive family unit will be treated on a case by case basis. If it is possible to pick one of the smaller family units that they are a part of to include them in while not including them in any of the others (in a way everyone will agree at least makes sense) they will be included in that family only, otherwise they will not be included
