#TBT Here is a coming out story from one of our LGBAC band members💜✨✨ "Coming out took place at a Valentine’s Day party, the day I decided I would recognize my “true love” for the first time to my friends. By that day I had already spent almost three years agonizing over what I was feeling, and it was more an act of desperation than anything else. I knew exactly zero openly gay people, so I had no one to look up to or turn to with questions. Thankfully, my friends and family would, over time, love and accept me unconditionally; though it was a longer journey to self-acceptance. I spent the next couple years being as out and proud as I could. I founded my high school’s first Gay Straight Alliance, spoke on panels about gay youth, and was even interviewed by my local newspaper for a story that ran on the front page titled, “Young, Gay, and Out,” all of which were desperate attempts to get others to make the same leap I did, so I wouldn’t still feel so alone.
