When shippers make a character into a caricature and lesser than they actually are in order to support their ship and claim that it’s everyone else in the fandom’s fault

I think I also figured out why I don’t particularly like any of the fanon queer ships. And that is because they have the potential to be sooo interesting and complex. However the fandom just turns it into the most blandest things ever. There is no drama between any of the gang and there is no complexity in any of the ships that are created. Byler is reduced to Will having feelings and the suspicion that Mike also loves him back. And El is just reduced to being the emotional support for the ship even tho her and Will have a sibling bond and Mike was her first boyfriend/love. Ronance is just reduced to two women in love without actually seeing that there would be problems there. And Steve is just reduced to the emotional support for the ship when Nancy was his ex and hurt him (unintentionally or not). And Robin is his best friend so he would feel hurt over it. Steddie is just reduced to two men being in love and they immediately get over their jealousy over each other’s friendship with Dustin. And no one ever touches the fact that Steve and Eddie are different from each other. It just seems like everyone just takes away from the complexity of the ships dynamic. And it really just seems like people will put anyone together without actually thinking about the problems/challenges that dynamic may have. Also everyone’s reactions are all just dandy and fine and they’re the emotional support group of the ship. Everything’s all perfectly fine when it would change dynamics between the Party/group in general. Also it lately seems like everyone just puts them together and gets mad when canon doesn’t do it. Like y’all created a version of stranger things in your mind and then got mad that it wasn’t what you imagined even though it’s never actually been that at all. Like you can be annoyed at the duffer brothers for certain things but don’t get mad at the creators when you created your own version in your head and a show that’s been on for years, never fulfilled your desire for what it should be.

i genuinely, really like aang, but keeping his writing in book 3 and his writing in the comics in mind, i don’t think it’s all that implausible for him to get the sort-of-antagonist role in fics depicting katara-ships other than KA.

reiterating, i like aang: he’s adorable, he’s funny, and he’s nice. but i believe there’s something to be said about how his ‘niceness’ is written and seen as being The Reason he ‘deserves’ a love interest. his thinking is self-centred, and though that’s a believable flaw for a kid who’s, like, twelve, we’re shown that it’s a consistent character trait which is never treated as an issue… even though it is. (and if he’s mature enough to start dating the girl he’s going to marry and have children with, he should also be mature enough to be criticised for his less-than-savoury parts of his personality, no?)

it’s not OOC to write him as being possessive of katara even when they’re not dating, because he canonically is. it’s not OOC to write him as not respecting and/or noticing katara’s boundaries, because he canonically blows past them. the ideas that he might not mature much later on, that he might be wilfully and forcefully oblivious to any discomfort in the KA relationship, that he might continue shoving katara(‘s culture) aside—none of that is necessarily OOC, because aang does not go through significant character development in book 3 + the comics.

in The Promise, there’s that weird moment wherein aang is briefly anti-miscegenation and doesn’t change his mind until katara reminds him supporting that would affect him (him!!! his relationship with katara alone!!) personally. in TLOK, there’s the suggestion that aang never actively pushed for bumi & kya to learn about air nomad culture and there’s the heavy implication that aang never told the air acolytes about bumi & kya’s existence. additionally, tenzin doesn’t even have a hint of water tribe heritage anywhere in his house to honour katara’s side: he’s all air nomad (though?? nuclear family dynamic), in spite of being mixed.

don’t get me wrong, i vastly prefer fic and hc’s in which aang is a katara supporter first and foremost, and that’s also how i prefer to move through a fandom space barring meta and analyses. but i also don’t think making him jealous and petty when she dates someone else is a misinterpretation of the text we’ve been given; canon!aang shows the signs to become that way, and it’s not wrong to read his future self that way nor is it incorrect fandom-ing to highlight these traits

To be in your youth was to be in your prime. To be energetic, fun-loving, innocent and easy to influence. Unfortunately, as you had been sent to hell for whatever reason while living out this time, there were a lot of opportunities you were missing out on. Like making friends at a school, where everybody was around your age. Despite the semi-normal life Charlie Moringstar strived to provide for you, down here you still lived in constant fear. At any moment, it felt as if you could be snatched up and taken off to Satan knows where, and not a sinner would notice. The terror of this concept brought on nightmares…which then brought on insomnia.

Every second night you would wake up screaming, or for no reason at ungodly hours, which frightened you into staying awake. You were somewhat of a universal treasure in terms of inside the hotel, so when your fellow residents took notice of this problem (and had it unwillingly wake them up time and time again), they started doing everything they could to fix it.

Charlie had been the first one to notice. She had gotten Lucifer to fashion you a plush toy duck that glowed softly in the dark. Though he had promised you it would ward off any ‘spookers’, as he had called your issues, it had ended up making a shadow in the corner of the room look an awful lot like a monster. Back to the drawing board.

After that, Alastor had commissioned Rosie to knit you a soft blanket, much to Charlie’s delight. True to his word, it was comfortable and warm, but the patterns on it weren’t the most….age-appropriate. To be fair, Alastor hadn’t given her much for the design. Another cross on the endless list of empty solutions. 

As you got used to hell and the people there, your problem got a little easier to stand. You were kept in good company- adults who were all at least semi-fond of you. And none of them really seemed murderous at all. Still, there was no telling what went on at night, and that was a heavy ‘what-if’, so you stayed up. 

Every. 

Single.

Night.

After your last few experiences with Husker and Angeldust you had decided they were your favourite sinners there. Angel was funny and sweet and pushed crude jokes aside when it came to you for the most part, and Husk had this underlying fatherly aura about him- even if he was a  crusty old bartender. So, when you found yourself unable to rest, as was your reality the majority of other times, you would go to the bar, sit up, and either listen to the duo’s banter or talk their respective ears off. This was one of those nights.

When Husker first saw you approaching the bar in your pyjamas with your hands fidgeting together, he wanted to turn you around and send you right back to bed. He didn’t mind your company, but a bar wasn’t a place for kids. Especially not at night. However, residents were still scarce around here. It wasn’t much of a problem, as long as you let him work.

He watches you sit up, his ears twitching slightly. He sniffs in acknowledgement. 

“More bad dreams, kiddo?”

You nod, rubbing your eyes and sniffling as you rest your elbows up on the countertop. Husker sighs softly, and rubs his paw through your hair, giving your head gentle scratches. “It’ll be okay. You’ll get over it eventually, I know it. You’re strong, little buddy.”

Beside you sits Angel, who is there just about as much as you. He rubs one of his hands over your shoulder, leaning in to lightly place his chin on your shoulder. “You’ll be okay, toots. I’ve seen ya gettin’ better.” he lifts his head back up. “Fuck, it just makes ya wish one of us was the sandman or some shit, huh? Or there were any normal sleep drugs down ‘ere. Wonder if the big boss could use sum’a his fancy ass magic to lull ya into….er…slumber.” Husker snorts.

“...mister Lucifer?” you confirm sleepily, and the bartender nods. 

“He made you that duck thingy, and…well…this entire fuck- I mean…this hotel. Surely he could knock you out if ya asked.”

You shake your head, carding your hands through your unruly hair and rubbing the dark circles under your eyes with your pinkies. “Don’t wanna. Don’t want his magic in my head.”

Husker chews his lip, then shrugs, turning back around to fix a drink for you- alcohol free, of course. “Whatever you say.”

Angel pets the space in-between your shoulder blades. He notices that each time your eyes start to flicker, you slam your little fist on the countertop and force yourself to stay conscious. Your head looks like it weighs a thousand pounds. It probably feels that way too.

“Hey.”

You turn to him, and he takes your chin in one of the hands on his lower pair of arms. “When was the last time ya actually got a full night’a sleep, bubs?”

“...” you rack your brain as best you can while sleep-deprived, and come up inevitably with nothing. You shake your head at him. “Can’t remember.”

Angel looks upset. He knows how it feels to be afraid to sleep at night from terrors lingering over him from the day.

“Still squeamish, huh?” you nod. “But…ya know that you are…safe. Here. don’t ya?” you nod again. “So what’s the problem?”

Husk pushes a little glass of juice towards you from the opposite side of the counter. He smiles slightly at you, hoping to reassure. “On the house.”  

Your attention is drawn back to Angeldust, and your fingers twitch and tremble as you try to find a way to summarise your reason.

“I-I-” you swallow, gripping a fistful of your pyjama shirt. “I’m scared. Of…here. This place. It’s hot, and red, and ....b-bloody…” your bottom lip starts to tremble against your will, and Angel pulls you into his lap, rubbing your biceps. “I w-wanna go home. Somebody’s gonna g-get me when I’m sleeping, I know it! I saw Radio eat those shark guys when Mimzy came!”

“Shh.” Angel cuddles you so much it feels like you’re being squished. Half of him has a mind expecting you to squeal like a dog toy. “S’okay, alright? You’ve gotta good gang here, y/n. You’ve got me, Whiskers, Charlie, mister Morningstar. I mean, hell! You’re under the protection of the head of this shitshow himself!” 

“But I c-can’t go to sleep!” your voice wavers, turning quiet and weak. You sound much younger than you are. “I can’t! I see all the demons in my dreams! They won’t go away!”

By now, Husk has walked around the bar to hug you along with Angel, wrapping up the three of you in a warm and furry embrace. As you start to cry, the two of them are right there with you, hearing you out on every word you utter from your chapped lips. You find you like cuddling up to them, even though they’re both furry enough to make a whole rug out of.

Once your sniffling has ceased enough for you to form a comprehensible sentence, Angel coaxes you into looking up at him again. “Are ya really havin’ trouble, dolly?”

You nod tearfully, looking down at the floor in embarrassment. You wish you'd stayed long enough on earth to outgrow this.

Angel glances at Husk, and smirks softly, then looks back at you, brushing away your hair from your damp cheeks. “Then come ta’ bed with us, okay? We’ll keep ya safe. I promise.”

You gasp, and your eyes fill with hope and relief. “R-really?” Husk carefully smothers you in his wings, bundling you up and taking you from Angel. 

“Uh-huh. Cmon, y/n. We can’t leave you like this. You’re out here every night, not even first in command has a solution.” He starts to walk with you in his arms, and Angel in tow, looking around the hotel in the dark. He never really goes to bed anymore, in favour of spending day and night at the bar and getting piss drunk every second night. He can clean up the rest of the dishes later. 

The two men both walk up the stairs with you, then down the hallway towards Angel’s bedroom. Angel pulls back the cover on his bed, dusting off the mattress protector. “Gotta make sure there’s no coke in the sheets…”

“Angel.”

“Sorry!” he makes a motion for Husk to tuck you in, and he does, laying you down with your head on the pillow. Angel’s bed smells like alcohol, and he seems to notice that you’re not a fan. He opens his drawer, and sifts through it, taking out a perfume. “This’ll make shit a lot better.”

As he’s about to aim it into the air, Husker gently but firmly grasps his wrist. “Don’t. Not that one.”

“Why not?! Don’t you love the smell of Hello Kitty?!”

He tries to take the perfume away, but Angel is holding it above his head. “Don’t you dare fuckin’ spray that, Legs! That shit is toxic!”

Angel presses the button on the perfume, letting Hello Kitty body spray into the air and making the room smell like cotton candy and chemicals. You hide your nose in Angel’s duvet.

“What?” Angel looks to the both of you, tossing up his upper pair of arms. “It’s fresh!” 

“Smells like a damn plastic carnival in here now.” Husk covers his nose, his whiskers twitching. “For fuck’s sake. The kid doesn’t even like it.” 

You start to giggle despite yourself, and Angel quickly follows suit, the both of you just on his bed laughing. Husker sighs softly, and reaches over Angel, carefully untying his bowtie. “Want the rest off?” Angel nods. Husk gets him to shrug off his blazer, and Angel replaces it with a light pink sleep shirt of his own. He brushes a hand through the fluff on his head, which always looks so soft.

“S’hot t’night, isn’t it, y/n? Still wanna cuddle?” he opens his arms, and to his mild surprise, you’re right there with him, Husk joining beside you after setting his outer accessories to the side. He curls his wings around you and Angel, flicking off the lava lamp beside the spider demon’s bed. They both look down at you.

“...if ya ever feel afraid, y/n…for anything…” Anthony runs his finger slowly under your chin, “that’s okay. It’s okay to be scared, ya know why? Cuz this’s a scary place. With scary people. But in every bad, cuore mio, there’s a good. And this hotel, this is the good.” 

Husk looks adoringly at Anthony, his flaxen eyes twinkling in the dark. After welcome gazing, he meets your own.

“We’re gonna be right here when you wake up, kid.” he says gruffly, petting your back as your eyelids grow heavier and your head slowly flops into Angel’s torso, marking him as your pillow for the night.

“Whenever that may be.”

For the first time in weeks…your mind was put to peace. With these two polar opposites, you had found a home. Whether it was to be temporary or everlasting, only time would tell. But you had tonight, and that was all that mattered.

To nobody's surprise but your own, you woke up unscathed.

Getting ready to drag out the old stan X/Twitter account cause wtf do you mean people who have watched the show for about two weeks & have only interacted with toxic buddie shippers are now jumping on the Tommy hate train?

There’s someone who got some traction live tweeting their watch about a week ago & it’s mind blowing to see them go from being neutral but into buddie to a full on easily led hater cause they’ve only interacted with vocal toxic fans.

Asking why people like Tommy when “all he did was be awful to Chim & Hen, apologise offscreen and kiss Buck”. If they just watched the eps about a week ago how did they forget that Tommy, Chim & Hen resolved their differences on screen & that Tommy literally risked his job & life to rescue Bobby & Athena just cause Chim asked.

You don’t have to love Tommy but the forced hate & ignoring his character development is frustrating.

It also is weird that they’ll double down on hating him over it all (& I know they’re doing it cause he’s the LI in the way of their ship) but hand wave away anything any of the other characters have done. None of them are perfect.

Plus, this whole virtue signaling narrative they’ve invented that he could have outed Buck to Eddie over a snarky closet joke that only Buck and the audience had context for - Eddie had literally just mentioned closet space - is so ridiculous it’s laughable. None of them cared when the episode aired but cause it’s gained traction within the toxic buddie fandom as something they can use to turn people against Tommy they’re now all jumping on to use it as a reason to hate.

I’m so so close to joining the few buddie and bucktommy/Kinley shippers over there I see trying to push back (& I do see you guys, I know you’re on here cause it’s a nicer environment, & I thank you for being willing to try to get through to those who are willfully ignorant). But while I like to vent here I really don’t want to engage with them.

I like to think none of my followers would do this, but I’m so stunned it continued to happen that I just have to say it anyway: please don’t ask mcyt creators about fandom drama - especially not when they’re livestreaming.

No, you do not need their opinion on the discourse of the week. It is incredibly inappropriate to bring internal fandom issues to them. They are not part of the fandom, their work is the the subject of it.

For context this was brought on by people repeatedly asking Scar (Goodtimeswithscar) about shipping on stream using the text to speech bot.

If anyone doesn’t understand why it’s bad here are some of the reasons:

You’re approaching someone at their workplace to ask them their opinion on a controversial topic. Would you go up to an employee at a supermarket to ask them their opinion on politics? On official store policy? Would you ask them to announce it over the call system? I sure hope the answer to all of those is a resounding no!

You are asking them to answer a nuanced question they do not have any context for on the spot. Would you like it if anyone did that to you in front of a large crowd? Would you want an answer you made to a question you don’t fully understand recorded and paraded in front of your entire audience?

When they are live the are doing their job as entertainers, providing entertainment. You know those people who heckle comedians who are live in stage? That’s you. That’s what you’re doing and it sucks.

Their career and livelihoods depend on them creating a positive experience for the audience. That means when you pay them to pay attention to your question using the tts bot they have to come up with an answer on the spot that is entertaining and doesn’t leave the audience uncomfortable

If it really does make them uncomfortable and you want to protect them from that… bestie you’re the one putting the uncomfortable information in front of them? You’re the one making them think about it?

Not only is it inappropriate to ask and disrespectful towards your fellow fandom members to put them on blast, you are very unlikely to get a response that actually reflects the creator’s opinions. Very few of them are immersed in the fandom to the point of knowing about the fandom discourse, and if they really are incredibly uncomfortable/angry/upset with something they’re not going to express that fully because that would absolutely suck to watch and alienate their audience.

So just… don’t? You’re just making an ass of yourself and you are heckling creative professionals just trying to do their job

The Issue with Eden Polycule

So I wanted to articulate my thoughts on a relationship that ive seen in fandom spaces and lots of fan art or fanfiction. I don’t have any opinions or problems with Adam/Eve/Lucifer/Lilith, but I feel like there are some implications and tropes that we should be more careful about when it comes to Eve/Lucifer/Lilith or even just Eve/Lucifer. Before getting into it though, just a disclaimer: this post is not about polycules in general. It’s not my cup of tea personally, but ship whatever you please! This post is just me rambling about my own thoughts. Feel free to have your own interpretations. ALSO! None of this justifies Adam’s behavior. He is responsible for his decisions, including his cruelty towards people, language, and his decision to essentially wage mass genocide each year. And this post isn’t to say that this relationship drama is the sole reason why he ended up doing exterminations.

1. I don’t really like portrayals that have Lucifer/Lilith (L/L) sleeping with Eve and having her cheat on Adam, especially when it takes place in Eden. I’m afraid Vivzie might have this narrative take place in HH, but doing so does a real disservice to Eve’s (and Lucifer’s if he acted alone) character by having her be willing to cheat, and also does a disservice to Adam by having him be cheated on for reasons that are probably not entirely his fault. Not to mention a lot of media where this happens often has the tone of just “haha let’s cuck Adam twice,” which comes off to me as petty and unfair. Not only is it not a funny joke, but it essentially reinforces and justifies Adam’s misogynistic tendencies later. Especially the ideas that women are promiscuous, always willing to cheat and be unfaithful. The narrative would do nothing to disprove this if BOTH of Adam’s wives did in fact cheat on him.

2. Another thing about Eden. Lilith was Adam’s first wife, literally created for the purpose of being his partner. This is also pre-Apple, meaning that Adam has no concept of right vs wrong. The way he acts, if he truly was controlling and mean and the story book wasn’t exaggerating (which I doubt), is entirely the programming of the angels and the way they tolerate or enable his behavior. Assuming we went with the theory that Adam never ate the apple, it’s the same situation with Eve if she left him and/or cheated with L/L. The way I see it, Lilith’s cheating on Adam is not justified, even if she disagreed with Adam on certain things.

3. I also want to note that cheating on one’s partner is not a justifiable punishment for Adam’s behavior. Whether pre or post apple (now assuming he did eat it), I see it as fighting fire with fire, and all it usually does is create even more hostility and problems than if the person just clearly broke off the relationship first. L/L/E runs the risk of inadvertently encouraging unfaithfulness in relationships and marriages as solutions to a problem, but this is rarely the case. As stated earlier, it only makes Adam justified in acting the way he does. And with that justification, is he really in the wrong for how he treats women? What reason does he have to change his behavior if he is right about them? I could probably accept both wives leaving him if the purpose is to justify Adam’s behavior and not just mock him, to show how morality is not just black and white and the villains sometimes have justifiable reasons for thinking the way they do. But it still seems very shallow on Lilith and Eve’s parts.

4. This part is just my opinion on L/L/E, but I don’t find the idea of Eve getting with the people who caused her to lose Eden very convincing. L/L are the reasons her and Adam were cast out of the garden and made to live for centuries laboring to survive, farming cursed ground and painfully delivering several children. Not to mention the bringing of sin and death into the world, losing Abel at the hands of his brother and Cain being cast away to wander the Earth. All the suffering she faced in life and the suffering of all of her descendants, all of humanity. Her sleeping with Lucifer makes no sense to me unless he seduced her (when she was more naive, maybe even pre-apple) intentionally, either for the purpose of hurting Adam or if he did just love her also, which makes him complicit in ruining someone’s marriage. None of this fits with Lucifer’s character, a malewife who adores his Tall Queen and comes off to me as being very loyal. The idea of open marriage is better, but Adam does not seem like the type of guy who likes to share anything, and his marriage is very clearly between Adam and Eve. That controlling personality indicated by the story book leads me to see him as likely having some jealousy and possessiveness (though not in extreme ways).

5. The only other option is Lucifer sleeping with Eve after her death and if she goes to hell, since we know Adam and Eve lived a thousand years married together on Earth, starting humanity. But I don’t see any reason for this. We need much much more information about Adam and Eve’s relationship and all four of their relationships’ to each other in general first before we can talk more about this. But until then, I don’t see any reason to break up Adam and Eve unless there’s some importance to it in the narrative. For me, I see Adam’s womanizing in heaven as a sign that Eve is probably not in heaven. And thinking that he’ll never see her again because “Hell is forever,” he eventually becomes bitter and jaded over thousands of years and decides that his relationship with Eve must be over then. Possibly the same case with Eve in hell, somehow leading up to sleeping with Lucifer. But considering she’s no where to be found with L/L and Lucifer only references her once, there seems to be zero indication of anything between them.

6. To briefly touch on the idea that once in heaven, Eve eventually left Adam because of his horrible personality and womanizing. This is still possible, but it seems like WAY too big of a personality shift to go from married and raising a family for a thousand years to suddenly being a massive asshole and a philanderer. Something must have happened that magnified all the worst aspects of his personality. There’s no way he is the same today as he was in Eden or on Earth. If he is, that’s just shitty lazy writing on Vivzie’s part and Adam is nothing but a one dimensional villain with no depth at all. Massive waste of a character with huge potential.

Tl;dr This post is already too long so I’ll just summarize everything. Although I agree that Adam is definitely an arrogant and annoying villain, Lilith and Eve cheating on adam is unjustified imo, there is no reason for Eve to cheat on Adam or leave him at all from what we can tell now, and her having any relationship with Lucifer also makes no sense considering what his choices turned her life into. But let me know your thoughts on all this, if there’s some point you want to make or a disagreement on something else!

Tbh I don’t rlly see why people ship Adam and Lute

Like, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE guitarspear, and I WILL consume guitarspear fanart, but I can’t rlly bring myself to ship it, especially when I look at the original show.

Like every scene they’re in together gives me more bestie vibes than any sort of romance. Also, I feel like if it was romantic, then Adam would be more..yknow, open about it? Since he’s Adam and all. Like, I feel like he would boast about it when Charlie first meets him.

Also sometimes I see fanart of Lute being hopelessly in love with him, and though I do love those and I will save them in Pinterest, I can’t rlly see it. None of what she does shows a hopelessly in love person. I guess you could argue her backing him up in Hell is forever kinda counts? But like, it’s less in a “I’m so in love with him” way and more in a “look at him!!!!! What a guy.” Kind of way??

I also just think the idea of a mysogynistic and sexist man somehow getting into a real platonic friendship with a woman even to the point of being her hypeman at some points is pretty cute.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for shipping. Hell, most of the reason why I join and consume different fandoms is to see what I can ship. But I can rlly see any romantic or even sexual tension between them at any point when they’re on screen, and despite them not having that much screen time, it’s definitely enough to have some sort of romance.

I guess you could interpret the him smiling at her as he dies scene as romantic. I get that. But personally , I just think a friendship is sweeter. Or maybe even friends with benefits. I don’t like shitting on what other ppl like so I won’t. But I agree that Durgetash fandom feels chill and mature about what it wants and that’s why I love it. Actually I think it’s The Dark Urge fandom in general. Haven’t seen much bullshit with Durge x other ships. Paradoxically the most problematic Origin leads to the most interesting and/or wholesome fan content.

It's not a paradox, it's a proven fact that fandoms for fucked up content like Hannibal will always be less toxic than fandoms for shit like Steven Universe and My Little Pony.

Because fucking mature adults are the typical fans of fucked up stuff. We all know what we are watching and we have jobs and pay taxes and have spouses and children, and we fucking know, it's not that serious.

You can ship a war criminal and a serial killer, whatever.

But Astarion x Tav and Gale x Tav and all the other origin fans are like teens, maybe even kids whose parents buy them any game they ask for, even if it's rated mature.

And they don't have the life experience to be chill. They stake their entire identities and moral code upon a fictional landscape that has no bearing on who you are as a person, except on superficial levels.

They also don't know better. You do NOT engage with pricks online. You don't start or end discourse. You ignore it because you're here to have fun, and if you're an adult, you know it's not that serious.

So durgetash fans are more chill, because I suspect many already know our ship is toxic and we do not care.

It's also a very small fandom.

Small fandoms tend to be more chill than big ones. You all know each other, even if somewhat distantly, and you're just so happy to see any other fans like you that you never want to start beef.

Plus none of us have clout.

The BG3 fandom is big enough for clout seekers.

People who say the "correct" opinion to gain followers for themselves.

But us durgetash fans are such a freak minority, that we are all incorrect.

Okay, time for a kinda serious post.

As some of you might know, I write Dramione. No great author here, just a girl who enjoys writing and likes the ship.

In the last week I’ve received a series of comments on two different FanFictions that have left me quite speechless.

There are others but I think that’s enough.

I’m not offended.

I just don’t understand.

I thought the whole point in writing FanFictions was that we could take the characters we love and make them do something which is obviously not canon or none of us would be here.

Did I miss the meeting where we decided this was not okay any longer and we have to stay canon compliant?

Do I have to poll some committee before posting a fanfiction?

Do I have to do a research on the grades of Draco Malfoy?

If that’s the case I’ll keep on writing for myself and my closest friends because I most certainly will not anyone tell me what to do.

We are allowed to have opinions. We are allowed not to like something. A trope, a story, a ship.

But we are also obliged to be respectful, that’s the only rule I care about.

Constructive comments are wonderful. Asking someone you’ve never met in your entire life if she is drunk is not.

If you don’t like a story, there’s no need to be mean. Just stop reading, no one is forcing you.

I love this fandom, I really do. I was a silent reader before deciding to post my first story and I loved that. I met wonderful people and made amazing friends. But god, lately it’s become toxic.

Hiya! So first, what I was reading over the summer were some new fandoms that I'm still mulling over. Those ships and fics, I'm not ready to recommend anything for, I'll come back to them later.

As you know, I find it hard to pick out faves and recommend things but coincidentally, some time back, when I hadn't read fics for years, I decided to see which I could easily remember. It’s not close to being an exhaustive list, I just noted down whatever came to me over a few hours, and almost all are pretty old, often from my first go-around in each fandom, but it’s a fair number. I've read other great ones that might not be as easily remembered for any number of reasons, like if I was in a particular frame of mind or if I read too many good ones at once so none really stood out, if I read them in between other things going on in life, etc. These ones slotted into the ole memory bank but that doesn't say anything about those left off.

I'm not sure how many of these are fandoms you're into, but when I'm in a real fic-reading mood I'll often try fandoms I don't know, so hopefully you can still give some of them a shot. I tried to organize by fandom though they're mostly in the order I remembered them, so it's not alphabetical or fave first--though it did end up being pretty chronologically backwards. I was literally going back through the years and I don't think I've read some of the anime ones in like, more than a decade? And while for my own list, I often was like oh, all of that author's fics for this ship and would know what I meant, here I tried to narrow it down to one fic per author, since it can be hard to know where to start, but definitely give their other fics a try if you liked that one.

Added a cut for length. All stories are f/f and complete unless specified. As I go through some of these, let me come back here to add that it’s worth keeping in mind as you read these that they are products of their time, some more than a decade ago. 

Gilmore Girls - Paris/Rory

The Best Of It - by dollsome - 74k words » Canon, fake dating, set after the original series (so ignoring A Year in the Life). To win a point on a talk show, Paris announces she's dating Rory. It's incredibly in voice and matches the show vibe so it's just so funny and sweet and just a plain delight. It's what actually made me create this list, I was idly wondering what else I'd read that brought me this much joy.  

Boston Marriage - by Jae - 5k words » Canon, college years, Paris has a proposal. The first fic for this ship I read, I think? Where I was like, oh, so it’s possible to be that in voice and replicate everything about a show even as distinct as this one. One of the ship’s classics (and being from 2005, just a f/f classic overall?).    

The Unbearable Weirdness of Being - by klynkey - 3k words » Canon, assumed high school years, Rory and Paris get into a debate. After having read the one above, I found this soon after and was like, okay, is everyone able to easily replicate that Gilmore Girls patter? (No.) Another ship classic.

Agents of Shield - Bobbi/Jemma

To Keep My Wolves From Your Door - by pirateygoodness - 41k words » Werewolf AU, so elaborate and for a ship so relatively rare, I’m not sure how this exists but I’m glad it does. It’s got some plot, a sweet romance, smut with feelings, just a rewarding read every time I go back to it, which is pretty often. Given my main audience, I’ll mention there are some flashbacks to Bobbi and her ex husband but that didn’t affect my enjoyment at all.  

Soulmate AUs (just chapter 2) - by alittleunstable - 3k words » Canon, cute little soulmate AU, which I’m always a sucker for. 

Star Trek Voyager - Janeway/Seven of Nine

Where the Dream Takes You - by nejvit - 27k words » Canon, one of the tamer getting together Trek setups, more introspective rather than caused by some alien tomfoolery, but I really like how it handles the very commonly featured J/7 conflict of Janeway dating someone in her crew. It is a bit dense but I found the character and dynamic exploration so insightful and interesting. When I first read J/7 fics years ago (in the late ‘00s), this author’s fics didn’t particularly stand out but when I came back to the fandom more recently, they were among my very favorite.  

The Rod and the Staff - by Trek in Tandem - 13k words » Canon, deals with the aftermath of an existing ep where Janeway went on a mission and ran into trouble. The religious stuff comes across as more the writer playing with the episode’s actual religious references than anything heavy-handed so I found it easily ignorable. Really great, clean prose, one of the writers who always stuck out to me for that.    

Not Just Strip Poker - by Pink Rabbit Productions - 15k words » Canon, a funny, lighter piece that definitely starts out as full comedy, after a misunderstanding, but there’s some deceptively interesting discussion later on in this one too.

Stargate SG-1 - Janet/Sam

Bits and Pieces series - by Pink Rabbit Productions - 278k words, WIP » Canon, this series integrates Sam/Janet into the first season of the show and I don't think it was ever finished, and the last one especially was left on a cliffhanger, but the rest of the “episodes” are worth the read. Also, when I put this down for my own list, I just said "Pink Rabbit's Sam/Janet stuff", because I remember going through all of them at some point, the stuff outside this series was fun too, and if this full incomplete series is too daunting, definitely some of the one-shots might be more fun.

The Devil Wears Prada - Andy/Miranda

Truth and Measure - by Telanu - 272k words » Canon, diverges from the end of the movie as Andy decides to stay with Miranda. What even is there to say about this one? A true f/f classic, has been in the top three of my general f/f recs for more than a decade and still holds up. Just a perfect continuation of the movie, same world, same characters, continuing growth and development of characters and dynamics, a true believable slow burn romance. And the author’s published it without taking down the fic. :)

Facts of Life - Jo/Blair

Ribbon - by Della Street - 15k words » Canon, diverging in the college years. This is the first of her fics I read for this pair and I fell in love with her writing. Back in an era when a lot of authors started off with lots of exposition and setting up the scenario, I was so impressed by how quickly and easily she did her worldbuilding and character development, and how in-voice and and close to the show everyone was. Definitely recommend going through the rest of her Jo/Blair fics.

Birds of Prey (2002) - Barbara/Helena

And Another Thing - by fembuck - 12k words » Canon, a straightforward getting together fic, things come to a head after Helena starts pulling away. After seeing which of the fics I remember best and like most here, I think I really just favor a great execution of a simple premise. And because this is fembuck, whose fic was a load bearing pillar of f/f fandom, there’s a nice balance of humor and angst with the romance.    

An Empirical Question - by harper_m - 30k words » Canon, an accidental fake dating situation spins out into something much more. In a funny coincidence, the same things I said about fembuck apply to harper_m, such a significant contributor to f/f fic over the years (see also this older archive account). This fic is again mostly a well done exploration of the characters and their dynamic if suddenly an explicitly romantic layer was added to canon.

Skins - Effy/Katie

An Imperfection in an Otherwise Perfect Plan - by harper_m - 21k words » WW1 AU, they’re nurses in the army. As with the Mockingnerd werewolf AU above, I’m surprised that for such a rare ship, there’s such a specific (and good) AU, but definitely not complaining. It feels that much nicer to find a true gem in such a tiny collection.    

fate is overgrown - by thememoriesfire - 53k words » Post-series, years later, Katie’s in a rut and stumbles into Effy again. I do find it funny that I have no Glee rec from TMF and instead went for the Skins fic that isn’t even transatlanticism but I really love this one, to the point where there were a couple of months where I just reread it constantly, even downloading my own version to fix formatting and typos. It’s almost slice of life, as Katie and Effy find themselves surprisingly healing together, after their fraught history. 

The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Sarah/Cameron

Resistance - by Anklebones - 120k words, WIP » Canon, diverges from season 2 as Cameron continues to glitch. Like a lot of the good Sarah/Cameron fics, this is a great dissection of AI and sentience and what it means to be human and have free will. I mean, within a great story, not just characters debating. It’s not finished but I really like what’s been written so far.   The author also has a three-part complete fic where Sarah and Cameron are already in a messy thing and then have to confront some things when there’s an attack at school: Just Another day in Paradise… 1 2 3 (19k words).    

No Rest for the Wicked - by InspectorBoxer - 172k words, WIP » Firefly AU, River Tam takes the place of Cameron while Sarah’s a new character to the universe. This is such a fun blend of the two universes and the romance is such a good slow build. As with most of the WIPs I’m linking, there’s enough to really enjoy even if not complete yet.

Once Upon a Time - Emma/Regina

The Secret's in the Telling - by pyrophoric - 250k words » Canon, set pretty early on but where Emma and Regina are at least nominally getting along. Things are set into motion when a mysterious thief shows up and keeps bullying Emma. This is one of my favorite iterations of their dynamic, with long-suffering secretly fond Regina and hapless too-earnest Emma.    

You do not have to walk on your knees - by dollsome - 10k words » Canon, mid-season 2, Regina and Emma learning to get along. As is dollsome’s specialty, a lot of character work and humor. Also would recommend Teenage ... Dream? (12k words), where Regina gets like...kind of emotionally aged down? You’ll see. The premise sounds cracky but again, the character exploration and humor and sweetness. :)

Once Upon a Time - Aurora/Mulan

a story, a tale - by maleficently - 27k words » AU where it’s Maleficent who casts the original curse on Aurora and her true love, not Regina on Snow and Charming. This is so fun because you can see all the similarities and differences in how the story unfolds compared to the show, including flashbacks to the fairy tale world before the curse is cast.    

Object Permanence - by badlance - 18k words » Canon, after Aurora and Phillip have made it to Storybrooke. Aurora’s still furious at Mulan for leaving them to go off with Robin Hood, but suddenly something happens to Mulan and Aurora can’t stop thinking about her. It starts off an interesting look at Aurora and how someone acclimatizes to the real world after Fairy Tale Land so like, therapy, jobs, but it’s quite romantic and sweet in the end.   Also Could Have Been A Year (5k words) and its sequel Bear It Out Even to the Edge (17k words), where Mulan learns the price of staying away from Aurora and gives up everything to make sure Aurora’s okay.

Wicked - Elphie/Glinda

Gelphie Trilogy: 1. Easier Said Than Done 2. Inevitabilities & Eventualities 3. Possibilities and Certainties - by mecelphie - 3.8m words » Rape trigger warning for the very first chapter: Elphie suffers a violent attack and much of the first story is her healing from that, though the other two stories also occasionally bring up the lingering effects on Elphie.     Back when I read it, the first story had some typos, missing punctuation and the like, that might also make it hard for some to get into it, but the world really unfolds into something incredibly rich and rewarding. Note that full series word count, it IS that detailed and extensive a story, almost slice of life, except for the precipitating event and things like homophobia and when Elphie's background is tackled. I haven't actually finished it yet, I pause every once in a while till I have a large chunk of chapters and then reread from the start and get sucked in anew each time.    

The Thrill, Basis Determined - by Ridiculous Mavis - 24k words » Bookverse, just delightful, beautifully written fluff. Everything this writer writes is beautiful. The further down I go on this list the less restraint I feel in linking multiple stories by the same author, so of her other Gelphie fics, I'll also specifically rec The Way Out of Myself (22k words), bookverse bodyswap with Avaric and Elphie where they both learn something about the other and Invitations Under False Pretences (27k words, WIP), bookverse fake dating, it's not marked as complete but it doesn't leave you hanging, if you know what I mean.    

The Week of Ill Repute - by Chudley Cannon - 37k words, WIP » Bookverse again, which, I don't prefer them over musicalverse, it's just worked out that I've remembered (liked?) these fics best. This one I remember from my very first Gelphie fic-reading tour and thinking, wow, this is so good. It never updated after that and I believe it actually does leave you hanging, but I mean, you specifically remember a fic more than 10 years later, it's gotta be on the list, right?

The Bletchley Circle - Millie/Susan

In the Blackout - by RidiculousMavis - 11k words » Canon, set during the Bletchley years, Susan’s just arrived and meets Millie, her flighty and irreverent roommate. A wonderful look at how they start to get along after their personalities and keen minds first clash.    

Clerical Work - by Kivrin - 3k words » Canon, also set during Bletchley, Susan tries to figure out her feelings the way she would a code and then things fall into place in a surprising way. Relatively short but I loved the sharp little characterizations of the main four, including Jean.

Legend of the Seeker - Cara/Kahlan

All the Days - by tcbg77 - 67k words » Post-series, some years after, everything seems to be going well until Richard and Kahlan’s child is kidnapped. Cara, now Richard’s general, sets off with Kahlan to rescue the child. I love the pacing of this one, the length allowing for a full quest and a slow burn, and combined with the well-written action makes it seem like a fantasy story with romance on its own. I basically treat it as exactly that and reread every few years.    

Within My Heart There Is Another Heart - by badlance and pirateygoodness - 26k words » Post-series as well, magic pregnancy. This is pretty in a way that makes my heart ache. i was surprised to see it was 26k words, since it feels so much longer and shorter than that at the same time.

The 100 - Clarke/Lexa

Within Me An Invincible Summer - by badlance - 62k words » Canon post-s2, Clarke gets over her anger at Lexa. One of the many great fics written during the hiatus, I’d put off reading it when I first got into the ship, during the start of s3, wanting to focus on what was canon at the time. And then of course 307 happened and I moved even farther away from canon, but this fic, its two-line summary, it showed up again and again in rec lists and bookmarks and was so haunting at the time, you know, seasons and people not changing, but finally I caved, and it was as wonderful as it had promised to be.    

Love on the Ground - by hedaswolf - 19k words » Also canon post-s2, taking the s3 knife scene from the trailer and again spinning it into eventual forgiveness. There’s a bit in it that is one of my favorite moments in fic ever.

And yeah, it was very good, like all these post-s2 fics, allowed to be a little rougher and harsher because they didn’t yet know how much comforting the ship and fandom would need.    

More Women than Warriors - by steklir - 172k words » Boarding school AU, new American student Clarke arrives at a British boarding school where Lexa’s the Head Girl. I don’t know what was going through the author’s mind when they were writing this but given the timing and content, it felt like an extremely low stakes and ultimately fluffy take on these two kids. There’s a lot of the show’s language and customs worked into this school, so that only adds to the impression, but in the end I’ll remember this for being a rewarding sloooowwww burn and really flowery, pretty writing.

Really plays into the effortlessly cool Stud!Lexa thing that was going around at the time, but tbh, she was confident but nice, so I liked it. coeurdastronaute tends to write most chapters as self-contained, so it’s more like a string of connected stories than one long narrative. The author has several popular longer stories going as well, but they’re at various levels of completion and I actually remember really liking of the one-shots here. If interested in the longer ones, the firefighter AU Polis 433 (131k words, WIP) is quite popular, and I think the first one I read was the Olympic AU Individual Medley (95k words, WIP).    

Abby Doesn't Ask - by onlyasdark - 3k words » Canon, some vague point past 307 where Lexa doesn’t die, short vignettes in Abby’s POV. A great example of an external perspective on a ship, because you get deliberately limited glimpses, and in this case especially colored by Abby’s not exactly positive feelings about Lexa, but despite all that, the relationship shines through.

I think what drew me to this one is that the Lexa characterization is more stoic than you often see in modern AUs, especially high school or college. I’ve ended up liking a lot of different takes on her but as much as it’s obviously nigh impossible to recreate the circumstances that created canon Lexa, I do have a particular fondness for that version so I like any fic that approaches it.

Someone’s painting graffiti masterpieces all over the place and as the head of campus police it’s Lexa’s job (she thinks) to catch the culprit. This author is so good at humor, and also can be really poignant at times, like in it's called contraband for a reason (54k words), a jumbled up timeline of the two in prison. I’m told the canon amnesia fic is quite good but I’ve not yet felt emotionally up to it.    

The 300 - by Bucklethorpe - 66k words » Modern AU, Clarke accidentally burns down 300 of Lexa’s trees. This starts off as a bit of a joking take on canon, and is laugh out loud funny the whole way through, but also quite sweet. Definitely a frequent reread.

Despite not being particularly long or having a unique premise, I remember this one because the writing’s so confident and sure of what it wants to be. It feels like a lot of fics--most writing in general, really, tends to flatten itself to not stand out and it was nice to read something so strong.

Clarke’s the new art therapist at a school for troubled kids and realizes things aren’t quite right. Through time skips, distance, and political crises, they relearn how much they still mean to each other. It’s beautiful and romantic and a great fic for those who wanted their connection from the movie to go further.

Glee - Quinn/Rachel

This Kiss - by poetzproblem - 141k words » Canon, set in s2, starting from a game of spin the bottle. Rachel and Quinn are shaken by their kiss and Quinn especially doubles down on her mean girl persona. Faberry’s had a lot of great fics and I’ve loved so many but I remember thinking while reading this one that this is probably how it would go, if it ever happened. It’s patient and takes its time and is one of my definitive fics for them.     Also the Don’t Blink series (788k words as of 2023-01-13) is this expansive, ever-growing universe set after graduation. I haven’t read it all, but I’ve reread some of the earlier parts many times, for the super rewarding payoff to them realizing their feelings are mutual, and others finding out about them.

Rachel’s somehow the only one the baby will calm down for and Quinn is reluctantly forced to call on her for help. It’s sweet and funny, my favorite from this writer but they’ve written several great fics, most popular being Head Full of Doubt, Road Full of Promise ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 - 60k words), a real Faberry classic, where to cheer up Quinn up after giving up Beth, the club goes on a road trip.     

Summer Mornings (oldest chapters at bottom) - by freshtilapia - 35k words » Canon, post-s1, we follow Rachel every morning of her summer vacation as she sees Quinn pass by on her daily run. Slowly they begin to hang out and bond. I think this was one of my first Faberry fics? I was a late bloomer, it took me a while to see their potential, but I really loved how authors saw their post-s1 dynamic and this was a super cute, endearing version of it.    

Boats in the Sky - by WaveGoodbye - 39k words » Canon, diverging after s3, now both in college, Rachel and Quinn are actually friends. Such good friends that Quinn’s roommate thinks maybe there’s something more. As with Clexa above, it’s so interesting how much character dynamics and fandom attitudes change depending on when a fic is written, because unlike the tension in s1 or s2 fics or Quinn being strung so tight with internalized homophobia, now she’s chill, they’re getting along. I love seeing a fic starting with them as friends, plus, a good chunk of it is external POV, which is a fave.    

Our Brilliantly Tangled Thanksgiving - by Elly-Bells - 4k words » Canon, diverging from s1, Quinn has kept Beth--actually, kind of AU too, because her parents are super nice here as well. But it’s just a super fluffy, super cute funny little fic. The author has a fair number of other fluffy fics of varying length to check out as well.    

Crazy on You -  by roxystyle011 - 82k words » Canon, futurefic written early on, Rachel’s a big celebrity now but gets into trouble and is court ordered to see a therapist, who turns out to be Quinn. This is written so early on I’m not sure if people would consider it the most in-character fic out there, though what is in-character when it comes to Glee, but it’s bold and fun and, as with the Clexa multiverse fic above, I just like when people take big swings with characters. There’s a moment near the end of the fic, when a certain page is turned, that still remains one of my favorite, most memorable reveals in fic to this day.

Dune - Chani/Irulan

Serendipity - by Tamoline - 26k words » Canon divergent, Duke Leto survives and Irulan ends up living in the Atreides household as a guest, while Paul is openly with Chani. When Irulan is called off world to testify, Paul sends Chani as her bodyguard. I’m always so grateful that I picked that year to randomly go through the f/f Yuletide entries because this is such a good fic and I could so easily have missed it completely. It’s got politics, action, enemies to lovers, just this great little novella that happens to be set in the world of Dune. It’s fics like this that have me going through the lesser kudosed out there because it’s a genuine fave.

Despite an action-filled start, it settles into more of a slower character-centric fic, lighter and often comical. Given their canon relationship, it’s refreshing to see the dynamic be more mutual and balanced, and despite the relatively short length, the story feels satisfyingly built up (perhaps because of how much history they already have in canon?).

A frequent reread, especially to get to the payoff.

Cosette turns out to be surprisingly fun and as they become friends, Eponine starts to question some things about herself. The premise is already cute with even a but the characterizations and dialogue are so snappy and flow so easily, it’s a great execution of this trope.

It’s a great character exploration and the writing’s so sharp and pretty.

That’s a trope with a lot of potential, now that I’m thinking about it, the way people get to know each other under those very specific circumstances, and this is a great execution of it.

Summary: The Doctor has been feeling some things for the reader for a while, but after seeing a Ganger of his had some intentions, he had said something that may expose his feelings.

Author’s Note: I really don’t know if I executed this concept properly, I really loved the idea of the Doctor being jealous of himself. I don’t think it’s my best work, but I did this mostly for self-indulging reasons, Anyways happy reading!

The fic is inspired by a song called, “Kiss & Disappear” - Vincent Eco (https://open.spotify.com/track/7ng0ZrCaSjTL6sgxbtXjXB?si=649f2e873c8a4e64)

The Doctor had feelings not too long after you joined him on his adventures through time and space, he already took a liking to you after literally bumping into you in a chase from aliens in disguise on Earth, after that fiasco, he asked if you wanted to join him in some adventures, just to make you sure and to let you know what adventures he’s referring, but not so long after, it became more often that you joined him on traveling anywhere in space and time.

The more often you joined the Doctor on his adventures, the more he developed feelings for you, at first, he managed to convince himself that it was just admiration of your bravery and strength, but the first time he saw you hurt, even though it was just a mild injury, he felt his heart dropped, not being able to handle to see you in that state, so he was being careful in protecting you, and keeping you close to him.

But for you, It all started by telling Amy about your crush on the Doctor, nervous as you were, afraid of her reaction, it was an anxious moment, but thankfully, she was supportive of you and wanted to help out. The two of you were close and sometimes team up when it comes to bantering against the Doctor.

Right now, You were glancing at the two Doctors in the room, knowing one is a Ganger, you just didn’t know which was which, but you just listened to what plans and ideas they had in mind since you didn’t know what to contribute just yet.

One of the two Doctors ran with Amy to find Rory leaving you with the other Doctor in the room, you sighed trying to think what to do for now while waiting for them to return,

“I saw the way you looked at us.” the Doctor hummed,

“W-what do you mean by that?” you were cut off from your thoughts by him placing his finger on your lips, shushing you.

“Ah ah, you know what I mean, dear.” his voice suddenly was lower as he got closer and closer, making you nervous and jittery as you back onto the wall. Nervous, you just tried to question your way out, “What are you talking about?” you averted eye contact as he trapped you against the wall.

One of the Doctor’s hands grabbed your chin and made you face him, leaving you with no choice but to look at him,

“I saw how looked at him and me, you were nervous, yet intrigued by us talking, so my conclusion is you desire me? Am I wrong?” he smirks as his face was inches close from your face, you tried to push him away, but as soon as your arms were halfway up, his hands caught them and pinned them on the wall, above your head, “Oops, you’re not moving til you answer me.”

You gulped, not knowing his plan, your breathing became more unstable, hearing your heart beat so loud, that it could burst out your ribcage, 

“So what will it be, love? Do you love me?” The last word made your spine tingle as he leans his forehead against yours, 

“I-I…I, uh…” is all you managed to say, the Doctor was about to say something, before being cut off by the other Doctor,

“Oi! That should’ve been me!” The Doctor pried the other Doctor off of you, making the one stumble into the dark corner of the room,

“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?” The Doctor that saved you from the confrontation, asked as he looks at you, worried out of his mind, as he was looking for any signs if the other did anything bad to you.

Amy also rushed in as the Doctor from the dark was now walking towards you, “Information is a powerful thing…I was just putting a theory to the test…” he chuckles

“She’s mine, back off you Ganger!” he hissed making you and Amy look at him, surprised at what he just said.

Later on, after the whole conundrum had ended and the real Doctor had dropped off Amy and Rory at their house, it was now just You and the Doctor in the Tardis, awkwardly quiet for a bit.

The Doctor was fidgeting with the console of the Tardis, trying to distract himself from the thought of what he just said to you, wanting to save you from the Ganger that looked like himself, he thought it was odd that he had done it out of jealousy.--

You were about to say something, until the Doctor broke the silence first, “so I wanted to ask you something earlier..”

Your heart was racing again, nervous about what he would ask,

“What he said,.. Is it true?” he asked as he blushed a bit, an unusual sight for you since he never shows this side of him, 

“W-which one?” You sat down, burying your face out of embarrassment.

“I have been thinking, wishful thinking for a while…” he averted his gaze, his voice sounding a bit more gentle but firm before he sighs, hoping for the best outcome on what he was about to say.

“If it’s alright to say what I feel?” he asks as he pulled you close, wrapping you in his embrace, blushing, you just nodded, making the Doctor blush again, his eyes fluttering.

“I-I love you so much to the point I feel bad that I might have embarrassed both me and you from what I said earlier and I was afraid that he’d hurt you, and I don’t want that moment to be happening and taken by another version of me that’s going to make you change the way how you see me,” he admitted quietly as he buried his face in your shoulder, slightly embarrassed from the blabber as he held you tight, his feelings of jealousy subsiding, he hated hiding his feelings for you, but at the same time, didn’t want to make you uncomfortable, so he thought it was best to keep his feelings to himself, but now, at least he doesn’t have to do that anymore, but was still afraid of your reaction.

My take on what’s been going on with the fandom regarding Melissa McBride. This will get me blocks I’m sure but you have to be careful who you trust. Listen to people but don’t think they are god. Even actors and showrunners have been known to embellish the truth. I do not believe for a second Melissa is being overrun and underminded. She already left the spinoff once and a lot was put in to getting her back on board. That’s not something AMC or Norman/Scott is going to jeopardize again. A lot of talk is going around about a pro Caryl showrunner and rumors of how the men are trying to block that from happening. For one if AMC wanted them they’ll sign them. They have the power over Scott. Another thing is they are not going to refuse to hire someone over their taste in ships. These are professional people who have done this job before.

Keep in mind about who you are getting the information from. If they use the line “you don’t have to believe me” chances are they aren’t being forthcoming. If they become aggressive when you don’t believe them chances are they aren’t being honest. This seems more about a fandom power play then it does as warning to Carylers to make a movement to AMC.

I’ve seen so much division in the Caryl fandom throughout several platforms. And it’s to much competition that often times makes it unbearable. There’s a few “leaders” who are constantly at odds with each other and fight for their place at fandom Queen. It’s childish and mean girl behavior.

FYI a true leader is someone who uplifts everyone regardless of how they feel about you. Not a dictatorship which some of you are guilty of. I’ve seen you guys shut down people and try to push them out of the fandom for having the same opinion earlier that you have now. So maybe think on that before you judge next time. None of us are ever 100 percent right all the time.

Some of you really need to let that high school mantra go. I don’t believe the ones being the loudest have any true connection to higher ups at AMC or the DD/BOC show. And I don’t believe Melissa is being strongholded. She is an EP and has a say in Carol’s story. AMC official accounts are using the Caryl hashtag. There’s a lot to look forward to. She’s been a part of the show from day one giving input and helping on and off screen even before she was an EP. Melissa was a huge part of season one even without the title. Actors have always raved about how she’s made them better and the same holds true with this show. So you all need to relax. Melissa is valued.

I can tell you this with certainty the one claiming to have this insider information is the same person who would dm a wide range of accounts that seemed to have information and beg them for whatever information they could. And when she got information she refused to share any. Which is what they are doing now. Talking about a female show runner but will not name names. Put your money where your mouth is if you think you have accurate information. And I will tell you this stalking and dming crew members or production members for a tid bit of information is not a source. It’s borderline harassment. You know who you are.

Now in closing this person also claimed that if Carylers were loud enough to AMC that the spinoff would not happen. Yes they were going to waste all that money or sets and contracts. Melissa was also already there when they were trying to make this movement lol. Stop acting like they are the Buddha to the Caryl fandom like you have no common sense and can’t function without them. There are many strong Caryl fans who don’t spread misery on a daily basis you can talk to. To calm your fears or just to talk about happier things to look forward to. These so called leaders seek out emotional people that they can control who are looking for guidance. This was once the greatest fandom in the land and could be again if we would break ties with the ones holding us down. So just think about that before being sucked down with the rest. Great things are coming. I promise you that.

LO RANT:

Because why not? I just don’t understand the way that fans think, on one hand we can’t associate or even compare Lore Olympus to the myths because they’ll say “well it’s her retelling she doesn’t have to do things exactly alike” but on the other hand when you’re talking about the story by itself they’ll then try to counter whatever argument against Lore Olympus by saying “this is what they did in the myths!! why are you guys mad at greek mythology??” so which one is it because it’s giving me a headache. I get so tired of seeing the exact same argument from fans it’s so redundant and I mean that in the nicest way possible, I’m sure a lot of you are great people but the things y’all say and do for this comic is insane.

Rachel is adding yet another sex scene and people are rightfully angry. We’re in the climax where the world is basically in an apocalyptic state and the gods are all in danger of having no mortals to worship them and give them any purpose and it’s all because of Persephone, no one is thinking “oh yeah this is the perfect time for intimacy” and if you wanted to give fan service to those who are craving it you should’ve did it in a more calmer setting?? No one is threatening Rachel and telling her that she needs to add these ridiculously high stakes to her comic which prevents her from smoothly writing NSFW of the main couple, she’s literally doing this herself which is one of the reasons why it gets so annoying whenever fans get mad at people for being upset or disappointed. She’s doing this to herself, am I saying harass the woman or cyber bully her? No but that’s not what a lot of these people are doing, in every single webtoon especially one as big as Lore Olympus you’re going to have people who view your content differently or disagree with the way you’ve written things. I’m not trying to encourage the idea of changing your entire story to bend to those people but a large majority of your fandom are starting to have the exact same complaints and it’s clear that your plots are not being fleshed out at all, these people are just asking (no, begging really) for a cohesive story not a masterpiece.

Which brings me to my next point, all of the criticisms and explanations many critics have been sharing are entirely valid. You cannot put a sex scene as a replacement to storytelling, it just never works since it adds virtually nothing to what’s happening. Especially right now when, like I said before, Rachel is starting to spiral the plot into chaos (I’m not being insulting by saying this it’s literally chaos it seems like all of the characters are in trouble) and introducing or welcoming back a lot of intriguing plot stories and characters that many people are excited to see. To make an odd and unnecessary shift to romance in the middle of absolute destruction is crazy, especially when none of it is earned. I’ve said this in my later rants but I’ll say it again because it’s true, the romance between Hades and Persephone has no stakes and it never will it seems since Rachel doesn’t even allow stuff like that to happen. Nothing about their romance keeps you straddled on for the ride or leaves you at the edge of your seat which is why so many people are bored with their dynamic if there even is one to begin with. Slow burns and other romances are all about the payoff that’s what everyone’s here to see, after chapters on chapters of wondering if their love will brave the dangers around them and between them we finally get our question solved with appropriate intimacy.

Lore Olympus as a whole rarely wants to develop actual relationships in real time, it only skips to “the good bits” while completely ignoring the fact that the entire bonding experience between your ships and your fans rely heavily on us actually witnessing their chemistry/bond and being shown why they should be together, not being told by forces outside of the relationship.

All in all the potential sex scene is just terrible timing on Rachel’s part and it should’ve been done while literally nothing was happening to avoid all of the backlash that it’s getting now.
