The announcement

⚠️CONTENT WARING: THERE WILL BE SOME MENTIONS OF PERIODS THIS CHAPTER! IT'S NOT THE WHOLE CHAPTER I'LL MARK WERE IT IS SO IF ANYONE IS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH IT YOU CAN JUST SKIP. IT'S NOTHING GRAFFIC BUT I UNDERSTAND IF IT MIGHT MAKE SOME OF YOU UNCOMFORTABLE! ALSO FORCED KISSING FROM HERE ON OUT!⚠️ Sometimes I need to write shit for myself okay!

Two weeks had past since you'd met Charlie and Renesmee and her wife (Nina) had started to work for you. Renesmee had become a maid to you. Waking you up, helping you pick out your outfit, and she and Nina would have breakfast with you the days Lucifer didn't make you breakfast.

Nina was a tall succubus. She had cotton candy pink skin and hot pink hair, and her horns resembled a heart but they pointed outward. Nina wore a slick leather outfit with a bulletproof vest and forearm and shin pads. For a succubus Nina wasn't particularly curvy but she was very tall, 7 feet tall in fact. You didn't exactly make the best first impression with her because the first thing you said was "Dang where did the WNBA hide you?"

Other than the scowl she had on her face she was always cordial at breakfast. And she seemed to get along well enough with Pluto the head of Lucifer's security.

WARNING PERIOD CONTENT AHEAD!

One morning you awoke in a pool of your own blood with a splitting pain in your abdomen.

"I'm dying." You mumbled.

"DARLING WHAT'S WRONG?" Lucifer bursts in with a puff of red smoke. He sees you on the bed dark red, almost black, on the sheets. He was in his normal outfit, minus the hat, jacket and cane.

"I'm so glad I used your old shirt as my pajama's last night." You mumbled and got up. "Did- Charlie is half angel."

"Yes?"

"But then again Lilith was human wasn't she? Well you do know what a period is. Do you have anything to deal with this?"

"Oh your uh- I'll have someone clean up the sheets and blankets. How about I run a bath for you and make you some food?"

"I'll go run a bath and if you decide to make me food you can have Renesmee or Styx deliver it."

"Nonsense! And let them see your body, especially before I get to? Unthinkable. Why are you so mean to me?"

"You're the one who caused this asshole.

"Well now we know when you're ovulating, next month I can take care of this problem for you~" You rush to the bathroom and lock the door. "Think about it! For nine months you would get to eat whatever you wanted and you wouldn't have to deal with a period~"

"Please just get me some pain meds and pads!"

Before you appeared a light pink bottle and a glass. Outside the door you hear a big thud and when you crack the door you see packets of every type of hygiene product you might need. Tampons, pad with and without wings, thin and thick. You name it it was in there.

"At least he's not asking me what size pussy I wear." You rolled your eyes.

(A/n: That's so Adam core, I miss him so much. ;-;)

OKAY IT'S OVER

You get out of the tub and wrap a towel around you and step into your room to change into some sweatpants and a zipper hoodie.

"You uh... you look comfy." You quickly turn around and see Lucifer standing in the doorway, pancakes in his hands. His cheeks were even more red then the clown circles he has.

"How long have you been standing there?"

"I-I didn't see anything! Really! You just look so comfy. I never got to see Lilith in anything that didn't show off her curves so seeing my bride to be in something that looks so soft is... different. A good different for sure! Can I... can I have a hug please? I just want to feel how soft it is."

"No."

He rolls his eyes. He walks over to a little mahogany table between the bed and the bathroom. Couches on either side. "You know, I don't get you. I've given you everything you could ask for and more. But you don't seem to care. You just sit around in the library or in your room all day. You're not trying to get to know me like you claim. And another thing, I know that you're not traditional. I may not know what your reason for telling these lies is but I know when you lie."

'That's right. One of his epithets is the father of lies.'

"Thank you for what you've done for me this morning. But I'd like to be left alone."

"As you wish darling." He takes his leave.

Nina and Renesmee walked in and you sat on one of the couches to eat the pancakes that Lucifer made for you. Renesmee cleaned up the room and you looked at her. "Hey do you need any help?"

"Miss please we go through this every day. I'm your maid, and I'm sure the king would prefer if you didn't lift a finger."

"I don't care what the king says. I don't want you to overwork yourself."

"I'm fine miss. I'm much more equipped to be a maid than my position in my old job. I'm quick and I like rolling around on the janitor cart."

"I still feel bad. I've never had a maid in my life. On top of that the king is okay with this unfair social system where Imps are looked down upon simply because of how they were born. I'm not going to participate in that just because it's how the way things are."

"Ahem!" Styx Calls from the doorway. "Sorry to interrupt but the king has sent some files over regarding the Halloween ball that will be held at the end of the month. He also sent a note. 'Sorry to drop this on you doll but Lilith was usually the one to handle planning the events we hosted. I've sent over everything we have regarding past years, please see to it by the end of the day and if you could select one of the couples costumes I've chosen for us to wear.' "

You took the files from them and looked through them. "Thank you Styx... here this is the costume I want." You hand a photo to them and start looking through the other files. You spend the rest of the day getting it ready, with the help of Renesmee and Nina of course. Ordering decoration, hiring a caterer, hiring temporary staff to help attendants, renting furniture, booking a band, and making a guest list.

"Do you guys think they'll play monster mash?" You ask the women.

"I don't know what that is, miss." Renesmee shook her head.

"Human music my love." Nina said monotonously.

"What do you think you two will wear?"

"Oh! uh..." Renesmee looked away bashfully.

"We're not coming." Nina said in the same tone.

"What? Why?" You asked disappointed.

"We get one night off we're not spending it at work." Nina glared at you.

"Okay, you don't have to come. I just thought it would be fun to have you two there." You dropped the issue.

At the end of the month you (unwillingly) got ready for the party. You put on a short red dress with a sweetheart neckline and an under bust corset, along with a small white waist apron. Several stylists crowd around you. Lucifer had cast an illusion on you earlier that day to transform you identically to how you looked the day you went to the mall with him. One of the stylists curled your hair, one worked on your nails, one worked on your make-up (applying bright red lipstick and such) and the last was supervising and communicating with Lucifer's stylists.

"No Sharron! I told you we cannot compromise on the ears. Madam Rouge personally made these designs, she's going to be there tonight, and if everything is not to her liking she is going to have a fit.

...

Well the king should have thought about that before he ordered it.

...

If he thinks it embarrassing maybe HE should have picked out the costume.

...

That's not my problem, Sharron. Madam Rogue isn't going to accept excuses, especially not "He was trying to make her more comfortable".

...

Like I JUST SAID Sharron. If the king thinks the faux fur ears are itchy he has to deal with it.

...

I don't care if he's the king Sharron! Fine if you're being a pussy I'll deal with it. Put him on the phone."

"I can deal with it ma'am."

"Would you? Thank you sweetheart, you're such a gem." She mutes the phone for a second. "Keep this between you and me, I prefer you over Lilith. That lazy bitch would NEVER have dealt with His Majesty when he's having one of his temper tantrums." You take the phone and un mute him as she keeps rambling. "He's worse than Vox and Val I swear. I don't care what Velvette says, that bitch is a liar, or she gives herself too much credit."

"Hi." You say into the unmuted receiver. "How are you?"

"Hi Darling! Everything is fine but the ears and gloves are kind of itchy. I'm glad that Rogue didn't insist on something weird for the tail like a-"

"Okay! Okay! That's enough. Look I know it might be uncomfortable but it's just for one night."

"I want a kiss for being good then."

"Fine. I'll see you in five'"

"Bye Darling~"

About an hour into the night you left Lucifer talking to some of his friends to go find some food. He wore all gray with wolf ears, claws, and a tail (attached to a belt; a tight leather one-piece with a faux fur collar; and some boots. You brought your red hood over your face to try to ward of lingering eyes trying to catch a peak at Lucifer's new bitch.

You looked back to the couple that he was talking to. An Imp almost his height with a green jester cap and a black and white stripped suit; paired with a tall demon with three faces dressed in a big ruffled red dress that had an open shirt in the front with pants.

You wandered around, looking at other people's costumes and trying to find the snack bar. That Madam Rouge lady had dressed up as Glenda from the wizard of Oz. There was a guy with a TV head who was dressed up like batman in the corner making out with a tall guy dressed up as the Joker. With a girl dressed up as Harley Quinn filming the whole thing.

You looked away and saw Charlie in a Green shirt with a big M on it and a matching tutu and bow and a girl next to her with gray skin and white hair dressed identically but in brown.

You wanted to make your way over to them but as soon as Charlie saw you she ran. You followed her to try and explain yourself. To try and see if she could get you out of Hell.

"That's her Vaggie!"

"Hun calm down."

"Dad's breaking all the rules for a woman he just met!"

"We don't know that."

"Vaggie! She's human! Living human souls aren't allowed in either of the afterlife's. My mom had to be turned into the first Succubus to even survive in Hell. This is breaking so many conventions. If he makes a deal for a soul he has to devour the person's soul or kill them and drag them to hell. He has a living human with him!"

'He certainly wants to devour me but not in the way you think Charlie.' you think.

"Maybe it's a misunderstanding. You could ask him."

"How can I ask him about her after I blew up at him!? How could he take a girl so young to be his wife? Vaggie she's so young she could be my grand kid!"

"Yeah but you've been alive for thousands of years Charlie. I don't think normal rules apply here."

"I just... wish that she had more time to experience independence before being thrust into this."

"He seems happy." This Vaggie girl said.

"I suppose. And I want him to be happy. He deserves to be happy. And she did invite us. Maybe she wants this. Okay. I'll go apologize to dad and tell him he has my blessing.

'Abort mission! Abort Mission!' You turn and run. You run so far away from the ball room you realize you've found yourself at the guest bathrooms.

"Wow! Hello cutie~" you turn around and see a man dressed as a vampire. "May I just say I love the costume! You're Luci's girl huh? What made you two want to be little red ridding hood and the big bad wolf."

"I felt it fitting. Him being a predator and me being his victim."

"Okay that turned dark real quick. Sold your soul to him huh?"

"No. I was sacrificed, by someone I thought was my friend."

"Oof. That's tough."

"I want to get away from him so badly." You confess. "I'm tired of him love bombing me steady."

"Maybe I can help. The names Agamemnon! I'm an up and coming overlord of Hell You sell your soul to me and I'll make sure you never have to talk to him again." He holds out his hand.

"Deal." You take his hand without thinking about it for even a second.

He takes off your cape, draping it over his arm and wraps his coat around you.

He led you through the ballroom toward the exit, and just when you are at the desolate foyer you two are blinded by a bright flash and when the light fades you look to Agamemnon and see that he is no longer standing nest to you, a pile of dust in his place, covering your red cape. You look back and see a seething Lucifer. His horns popped out, a small flame burning in between them, a halo surrounding his horns. His eyes were red, and he has puffing out smoke from his huffs.

He walked up to you and ripped off the coat burning it to ashes in an instant. He pulled the red cape back on you and grabbed on your wrist. "How DARE you! You sold your soul to a filthy SINNER? I've tried to be good. I've tried to seduce you. I've let you have your space. I've spoiled you. I was willing to give you time to fall in love with me. And yet apparently it hasn't been good enough for you. You know what? No more! You will be my wife, you will have my children, and you will LOVE ME!!" He pulled you back to the ball room. "If you say anything in there to ANYONE I'll kill your entire fucking family." He burst in and pulled you up on stage with him. "Attention everyone!" He smiled and continued. "We have an exciting announcement for you all! My beautiful bride and I are getting married in six months!" Your blood ran cold. For trying to run away he cut your time to escape in half. He knows what you're trying to do, but he needs time to prepare a wedding. He just got back into Charlie's good graces so he can't rush a wedding and mess things up.

For the rest of the night You stood next to him, his arm gripping your waist in a death grip, getting congrats and passive aggressively asking for an invitation.

"Hi..." Charlie came up to you and her dad. "I know that we didn't start off on the wrong foot, I've apologized to dad but I'd like to apologize to you as well."

"No that's okay. I grew up on the evil stepmom trope. I wouldn't blame you if you tried to shoot me with a shotgun but accidentally shot your dad and tried to frame me. I get it."

"Okay?"

"Have you never seen legally blonde?"

"No?"

"Oh, sorry to spoil the ending then."

"Anyway, I'm happy to have you join the family." She pulled you in for a hug. You hugged back as to not piss off Lucifer any more than you already had.

After the party Lucifer carried you to his room. you protested profusely and he threw you onto the bed. He held you down and snapped his fingers as your costume swapped into that of one of your night gowns. Your costume laid forgotten on his bed floor. He threw off his clothes and stayed in his boxers. "Don't get this twisted. This is not fun sexy times. I'm boing to hold you here tonight to make sure you understand that YOU. ARE. MINE."

"okay..." You nodded obediently. He pulled the covers over you both and wrapped his arm around you. His chest to four back.

"Goodnight doll. I hope you have sweet dreams of me~"

You said nothing as you cried yourself to sleep.

i tried skims... here is my review.

i thought this would be an interesting assessment/reveiw to apply to both astrology and the wyrd web.

let's start with astrology... i am a pisces rising (we are off to a good start as a pisces rising should love shape ware), sagittarius venus (i like fun and flirty clothing - haha i would try their micro once ig - tbh i would try anything once), capricorn lilith (i live for style and quality - if it looks basic, but expensive i like it), and virgo aphrodite (i want something that looks classic and is practical - which slightly contradicts a micro (which i didn't buy one (thank god)), but fun can still be practical and flirty can still be classic).

as for the wyrd web... i am a lover (6) core person, so of course, i will want to try a popular underwear brand. since we are talking about underwear, the energies of my root chakra (the chakra closest to the underwear region and ruling over external genitalia) are important. i have the high priestess (2) for the physics, who while conservative is still ruled by the moon and is a symbol of feminine energy (mother, maiden, and crone). the world (21) for the energy - she is nude on her card but a simple cloth is artfully draped in front of her from lower rib to upper thigh (tell me that's not underwear haha). and for the emotional energy i have the hierophant (5) who, while also conservative, is a venus-ruled individual - a taurus, in particular.

i feel like i was made to talk about skims; it gives off neptunian vibes because it is shape ware, but when looking at the site they generally have only earthy/muted tones (i got that going on) and they are supposed to be selling basics while being inclusive to everyone which i can get behind as a virgo aphrodite and capricorn lilith person (i love when everyone can get the same styles). my web is also very fortunate in terms of fashion especially where this article of clothing is concerned. i also feel like as a hierophant emotional muladhara person i can really preach about underwear haha - SO THIS IS MY MOMENT.

why did i buy skims?

to be honest, this is not something i myself would have gone for because i don't really like the kardashians, and i feel like they have enough money without needing mine... i also saw this stuff when it first came out and was not impressed. my aunt (she is a empress (3) higher self person, so of course, she wanted to get me something very venus-esque) however loves the kardashians... as a wheel of fortune (10) material person, who am i to not try something new to me on another person's dime haha.

what did i buy?

cotton (what else can you expect from a virgo aphrodite person with a hierophant muladhara) rib brief bundle (3 for 36.00 USD) and long sleeve turtleneck (56.00 USD).

what color?

soot :) - haha - was that a question... i am a capricorn lilith and a virgo aphrodite person - classic look all day every day.

what do i think of the turtleneck?

i like it a bit more than the underwear (which is bad in my eyes considering one of skims primary goal is to be "the next generation of underwear"). my complaint, however (i am picky; i can't help it as a virgo aphrodite person), is the quality... i feel as though it is rather thin, not see through oddly enough. BUT as a northeastern girlie, this is not the most helpful for winter ware.

what do i think of the underwear?

bro, i am not happy. maybe it is because of the band on the rib brief BUT like what is happening? i am moderately small and toned, yet i look ridiculous? like why do i look like i am flooding out of the underwear? their size chart says that i would fit this size, yet i feel that it runs smaller perhaps...? i don't feel like, for my pad girlies, you could reasonably wear these on your period (the gusset, or vaginal panel, is just to thin/narrow, in my opinion, for a pad even for a brief cut - i feel like the pad will just be hanging off on the sides?). also the band on the rib brief hits every annoying place for a period - their is no space for bloating either haha (sorry this is just the high priestess girlie in me).

would i recommend skims?

no :) the price point doesn't match the quality in my opinion.

AU where the Collector was watching everyone on the Island and found King. They were so happy to see the baby Titan! Of course he didn’t say anything to Philip cause he’s BORING and only likes one game.

So the Collector just watches little King and his life and slowly begins to want to join. He wants to run around causing chaos. They wanna join in on trash hunting and selling wares. He wants to have Eda tell him stories and learn new things. Then Luz shows up and at first they’re mad.

King should be HIS brother not some human.

But slowly they begin to like her to. Her bright eyes and love of magic. Her yearning for the world.

The Collector begins to imagine little scenarios where he is with them. He’s running around and laughing. Luz is telling him a story. They’re all giggling and smiling. He’s sneaking into Hexside to surprise big sister Luz.

Raine shows up and suddenly there are new pieces added and the Collectors wants it so bad.

When they get released, it’s not hard to change things. Sure, Luz falls through the portal but it’s fine. They can have the first part of everything before she comes back.

O’Pa Raine, Mama Eda and their two kids. Mama Eda hides from the covens who want to arrest her, assisted by her partner Raine and sister Lilith who help hide her. There’s a rebellion brewing with Uncle Darius and Eberwolf. They’re gonna make things right!

No one is a puppet cause the Collector is aware of death an agency here. But they want the life they dreamed of. So robbing some memories and adjusting things isn’t bad, right?

When Luz and her friends come back, along with her Mami, it takes a few more twists. But the Collector has their family! Big sister Luz fell through the portal with her Mami and they’re all happy together. It’s all smiles and sunshine!

King cries at night a bit but he’s happy to, right? It’s all okay. Everyone’s fine!

(King is thankful the Collector lets everyone keep their personalities and agency. But seeing the slight glaze in the eyes of Eda and Raine as they remember fake moments, seeing the jittery movements when they’re about to remember something only for it to fade…

It’s a little sickening.)

My Artist’s Year in Review

Unfortunately, I haven’t put out much art this year. So I’m using my favourite sketch pages from this year instead of pieces. I’ve had a lot of struggles w/ my mental health and personal real-life problems, so doing full pieces seemed a daunting task. But hopefully in this new year, I’ll be able to do more full pieces!

December 2022

This was a difficult time for me motivation-wise, and this was the only full page I made at that point, as most of my (now-lost) art was digital then! My favourite sketch here is the Grant Cohen in blue at the bottom.

2. January 2023

Another especially-difficult month for me. Again, the only full page I was able to fill, unfortunately. I really like the Norman in the top-left corner; he was so fun to draw!

3. February 2023

My bestie (@harmonyblossom19 btw, hey girl) had said that MatPat gave off Fred ScoobyDoo vibes, so I drew their fusion—dubbing him “FredPat” shortly thereafter. It was the best of February’s doodles, though I’m still not proud of it. This was around the time I moved here from my old blog!

Do y’all remember The Orchard Mystery Series, that set of OCs I had a while ago? Well, here's the main two characters–Dick and Melanie! I wanted to try a washed background and layering the sketch on top of it—though I should have looked up some tutorials before taking on this task lmao

I love every aspect of this piece to DEATH! The way Atem is looking at Yugi, their facial expressions, the clothes, the pins on Yugi’s shirt! This is definitely one of, if not the best piece here.

This is all of the OCs I’ve stuck together for various universes. Lilith and Star are from a D&D-inspired universe called Spires of Heavenly Light and Shadow, and of course, Lyra and Sol are from TQFTAD. I’m so in love with the Star doodle here.

This was a train wreck of a year, but I think I pulled myself out of it pretty well. I hope your years have been just as great, if not better!

Question

Would everlasting oaths said in Old Tongue be stronger than those said in English/common? I mean I would presume so but never hurts to get confirmation.

Follow up, how does an everlasting oath function? Everyone seems to have a different idea about how they work and I am curious to see your interpretation. Some people take it as immediate death should one be broken, others that it hurts or strips a witch’s magic. Yet in others they are simply incapable of breaking it in the first place, magic preventing them from acts that would.

We’ve seen Eda and Lilith being able to snip the oath in your fic and in canon the Caster can unbind one another from the Oath. But it’s a curious thing, the weight of a promise I suppose l.

Words carry quite a literal meaning in Old Tongue. Their is a deep magic seated within the language. Let’s just say there’s a reason Eda never gets caught when out and about selling her wares. The utterance of her Remembered named by Coven guards are akin to the tale of your palms itching when you’re about to receive money. A warning perhaps. So Oaths spoken in Old tongue tie intimately with one’s soul. Unlike a spell that can be easily unwound and temporary, Oaths in Old Tongue are a conviction, a promise, or a law. One must take credence and pay close attention in how they speak.

This can carry over to runes in a similar fashion where words are clear cut. What you write is what will happen, there can be no vagueness. This is seen when Luz writes the word beat to act as a time trigger for her fuse runic inscription in the ‘Lost in Language’ chapter.

Everlasting Oaths in standard spell circle form as Amity made with Luz, are like temporary contracts. When the spell circle is summoned it’s almost like a braid with the terms woven within and has the two making the Oath. Committing and shaking hands. Since magic is tied so closely with the biological functions of a Witch, this braid of magic can be found in one of these places:

The most common is the radial pulse found in the wrist, this is the default place where most Everlasting Oaths will be found, especially in young witches, they do not have the skill or control to maneuver their spell somewhere more inconspicuous. It’s also the least…deadly if there are more fire terms that come with the Oath.

More skilled and older Witches can place the bond of an Oath in the pedal (foot) pulse or the femoral artery (thigh). The former May cost a Witch to lose mobility if not careful when Unwinding, losing a foot or bottom half of your leg isn’t fun. The latter, the femoral, is dangerous, as one wrong move can sever the artery and one can only lose so much blood.

The most challenging and deadly of places one can place an oath is the carotid artery (the neck). These Oaths are reserved for the most intricate of deals. Be it servitude, protection, and in rare but intimate forms, marriage. If one wants to unwind an Oath here, they must find a skillful Healer!

my reflections on the religion I was raised in.

WARING: I mean no offense or shade to anyone. I am merely writing this to reflect on and heal from my experiences and related trauma.

Some background: I was raised Catholic and went to a typical Catholic school for most of my school career so far. I am in high school right now, and I am no longer Catholic. I left Catholic school a couple years ago and was shocked with public school. It was wonderful. I had no idea how toxic and damaging catholic school (and Catholicism as a whole) was to me until I got a breath of fresh air. I know more about Catholicism than most Catholics because of Catholic school.

Most Catholics believe Adam and Eve were the first 2 people. That’s not right. In the bible, Adam and his first wife, Lilith, were the first people. The story about them in its barest bones is: Lilith and Adam were created at the same time, for each other. God created them from dust and earth as equals, however, Adam did not see it that way. Adam believed he was superior to Lilith and because of that, she must lie beneath him during sex. She understood, however, that they were equals. She refused. Now the story becomes a bit muddled. Some believe she fled the garden of Eden to escape Adam and his demands, while others believe she was punished by God for denying Adam and immediately sent to hell. In the bible, she always ends up the first Demon, very powerful and close to Lucifer. She is often thought of being a seductress or a succubus, but she is not. She is a woman punished for not giving consent to a man who saw her as less than equal to him. A man, who receives no punishment for this, and that God goes out of His way to create a new wife for him, made from him that would fit Adam’s expectations and do as Adam pleased. Seems kinda fucked up to me.

Now, onto the story of Adam and Eve. All Christians know how this one goes. Adam was lonely in Eden so God created a woman out of one of Adam’s ribs to be Adam’s wife. God told them they could eat anything in the garden except from one tree. This tree was called the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil (which I’ll refer to as The Tree for convenience from now on). God expected and desired them to obey him blindly. Adam and Eve were happy and lived in the garden for some time before one day, Eve was away from Adam doing something (it was unclear as to what she was doing) near The Tree. There, she saw Lucifer, disguised as a lizard (though most Christians believe it was always a snake, the bible describes it as a lizard) that spoke to her, telling her she should try one of the fruits of the tree (the bible doesn’t say what the fruit is, but it is normally thought of as apples because of an old Latin pun, with the basis being: the word for apple and evil were said almost the same and spelled either the same or almost the same). Eve tells the Lucifer God told her and Adam not to, but Lucifer insists. He tells her nothing bad will happen and God won’t be upset. Eventually, being created to Adam’s liking (submissive) unable to really tell anyone no (see the connection to Lilith’s story?), she gives in and tries it. It tastes wonderful to her so she brings it to Adam excitedly to get him to try it because she loves him. He loves her too, so he does as she asks and tries it (this is known as the First Sin or Original Sin which is then passed to all of humanity and is a stain. It is the reason humans sin). As soon as he tries it, God comes to the garden to walk with them, which He did often. Adam and Eve hide. God gets upset and asks Adam why he ate from The Tree. Adam tells God Eve made him do it, to shift the blame onto her, and when God asks Eve the same question, she tells him that the lizard, who she didn’t know was Lucifer (neither of them even knew of Lucifer’s existence). God punishes the lizard by forcing it to live without legs and slither on its belly in Eden for the rest of its life. God punishes them by taking their immortality, kicking them out of the garden, the only place where there was life on earth, where the rest of it was barren and suffered from terrible storms of all kinds often. They should’ve died immediately, but they didn’t. An Archangel, the fewest in number, but by far the strongest of all angels, was placed at the gate of the garden with a flaming sword to keep them out. Eve’s sin was trust, and Adam’s was love. They were punished for the very things Jesus told us to do. Not only were they punished though, all of their descendants (all humans) are to suffer for their crimes.

This “just and fair God” did something that is considered a war crime: collective punishment. He also decided that their inability not to sin must be passed to their descendants. God also destroyed entire cities and civilizations because some of the people there angered him. Even babies, children, and animals were included in these massacres (the Great Flood and the destruction the the cities Sodom, and Gomorrah).

I still have some belief I can’t shake. I believe in everything in what Christians call the Old Testament and what Jewish people call the Torah. I don’t know what Muslims call it. I believe in that, but not the opinions in it. I don’t believe God is good, or kind, or merciful, or fair. I think he is a wicked, cruel monstrous being. Demons were once people, but God? God isn’t. He doesn’t understand because he chooses not to and because he isn’t a person. He is the embodiment of sick humor. He does this all for his own amusement. We’re just a game to him.

Paranormal Sanctuary AU; roots driven deep

a sanctuary for NYC's nightside, Clary caters to the paranormal by providing a safe & most importantly neutral space to buy & trade in supplies - be it silver, icons, bullets, or gossip - or recover when sick or injured. invulnerable within her own wards, she rarely leaves her safe space now that she's finished training. Inside her domain, her word is law, after all.

In a world where different paranormal abilities are normalized, government sanctioned academies have been set up to train psionics & hone their talents. Once a psion chooses their area of study, they specialize in it deeply. Some have multiple areas of aptitude, but one of the rarest aptitudes is that of a Sanctuary. More than just a healer or a supplier, Sanctuaries offer a fully neutral, fortified space for all sects of the Nightside. Whether it's a hunter looking for bullets & icons, a witch looking for rare herbs, someone looking for a safe place to recover, or anyone looking for the right bit of gossip, a local sanctuary is an invaluable connection.

Clary completed her training under the Order after her father's attack on her & her mother when she was 16 opened her eyes to the shadow World. Previously ignorant of it, she quickly dove in & found that her various Talents - healing chiefly among them - would lead her down the path of a Sanctuary. It was a heavy choice - the vows of a Sanctuary meant she would be barred from forms of aggression in that she'd feel the pain she might consciously inflict on others - but it also meant that she could protect others from experiencing the same fallout she saw in the aftermath of her father's reintroduction to her life.

Now fully accredited, she sticks to her domain & only leaves if absolutely necessary. Her wares & skills are high demand across all seven boroughs, with special orders making up a significant amount of her sales.

options for interaction

option i. meeting in the sanctuary - Default option, the easiest way to meet Clary is by using the services provided through her Sanctuary's main area. This can be through the occult shop, various paranormal services she or others she's contracted with provide, or while recovering from an injury.

option ii. meeting at one of the nightmarkets - Though infrequent, Clary does occasionally have to leave her Sanctuary for niche supplies in local markets. She's typically accompanied by a highly trained guard, but that doesn't mean shenanigans don't happen.

option iii. meeting in the academy/pre-Sanc. oath. - Finally, the possibility of meeting Clary after her father's grand re-entrance into her life but before her aptitude test at the Academy is a possibility. During this time period, she's operating under the assumption her Talent is solely healing so she'll take the path of a much more common Sedayeen healer & the idea that she might run a Sanctuary isn't even on her radar.

Mundanes can see her store front as a bakery, & benefit from the healing magic laced into all of her wares. She does a significant amount of business from this alone, to the point she's actually hired two psionic-sensitive young women to help her manage this specific aspect of her business.

The real shop is through a door at the back of the bakery, which non-mundanes are intuitively guided to through her wards. Set up similarly to an occult shop, there's also a small sitting area where others can catch up on the nightside gossip.

Some of her most consistent sales on this side of the business come in the form of blessed silver bracelets & blessed copper cuffs, as well as specialty bullets, various stones, & specialty herbs grown on the rooftop greenhouse.

A Witch's Staff, The Tool Of The Trade - My Thoughts

From as early as the second episode of “The Owl House,” one of main character Luz Noceda’s prime motivations was to obtain a witch’s staff - one of the oldest, best-known, and most enduring icons of the fantasy genre. Another facet of the rich and detailed setting of the series, magic staffs on the Boiling Isles are both familiar and unique in and of themselves.

Fittingly, the first magic staff seen in the series is that of the Owl Lady Eda Clawthorne, mentor to Luz. Our first real sight of her as a character is screwing her palisman Owlbert into place atop it, before she scoops up her wares, and Luz, and flies away to escape the law enforcement of the Isles. Over the course of the first season, witch’s staffs on-screen are almost exclusively Eda and Lilith’s, with many more being introduced in the second season.

Early in the series, it is implied that palismen (discussed in detail in an earlier post) and the staff are separate objects. As mentioned before, Eda is first seen securing Owlbert onto the top of her staff, he has shown the ability to leave it without Eda’s knowledge in “Really Small Problems,” Eda is once shown using the staff without Owlbert perched atop it in her first duel with Lilith in the episode “Covention,” and the episode “Escape of the Palisman” draws particular attention to interlocks, unique slots in a palisman’s foot that only fit on their partnered witch’s staff. Eda’s surprise at Owlbert’s absence at the carnival, though, and her decision to run rather than fight without him, strongly implied that palismen are the more important piece of a staff.

This last point is strongly reinforced in the episode “Hunting Palismen,” when adopted palismen are shown materializing their own staffs for their new partners to use. From then on, a palisman is never shown attaching to a separate staff, even Owlbert dissolving his staff in “O Titan, Where Art Thou.”

Staffs are shown to be summoned in two ways. One is having them manually fly to their witch’s hand, as most notably demonstrated by Eda (in a probable homage to the film Thor: Ragnarok) in “Witches Before Wizards,” or to have them materialize from parts unknown in a partner’s hands, first demonstrated in “Covention” by Lilith and Eda, and then very frequently shown after “Hunting Palismen.” One instance also implies that staffs can be created as flexible whips, as shown with Flora D’splora and her monkey palisman.

Very interestingly, the first ability demonstrated by witch staffs on the Boiling Isles is their ability to fly, a trait usually associated with broomsticks in fiction. While this may seem novel, and in modern media might as well be, it actually ties back to old witch lore. As far back as 1453, woodcuts show witches riding brooms - but these were indeed carved staffs used in their supposed arts, with the bristles of the broom meant as a disguise. This also explains why they were depicted flying with the bristles facing forward rather than backward.

Finally, aside from supplementing magic - with tweets from the show’s creator Dana Terrace mentioning that palismen have their own independent store of magic to aid their witch in spellcasting - staffs can also be used as melee weapons. However, they are rarely used in such a way in-series, with only Eda, Lilith, and Hunter shown doing so.

Overall, the flying staffs of the Boiling Isles, capped by loyal palismen, have proven to be a dynamic and creative addition to the “magical staff” trope of the fantasy genre. We can only wait and see what Luz’s own long-awaited staff will look like as she uses it to fend for her second home.
