Erm idk if you've designed her because she's technically an unnamed character but your interpretation of Lizard/Freedom's mother would be cool to see if you're up to it! :D
Wanted to give her just about the same elements as Freedom, messed with colors. They both have that bird-like stare

Well, I finally finished to read The Flames of Hope, drew a picture of Freedom aka Lizard. And... I`m not going to tell my opinion about the book, because a lot of people have already told it and mine will change nothing. I want to tell what I think about this series in general.
Tui should end it. Seriously. With all this Pyrrhia-Pantala contact being established, dissapearing of animus magic and the conflict beetwen scavengers and dragons solved TFoH looks like an obvious finish of this story. Yes, it is messy, weird and somewhat disappointing (IMO), but it`s what we have now. It`s written. And I see no sense for author to continue it all (except squeezing the money out of the franchise, of course).
Plus it feels like Tui is burnt out (and I'm not alone who notices it). Continuing to write the series in such state and with such attitude is not a good decision and there`s a big possibility of WOF turning into WC 2.0. I don`t mind more Winglets or something like this, but the main storyline should be left as it is.
And yes. Tui, where`s ref of Freedom? Same question about Hawthorn. There are a lot of characters who were written to be dead, but at least we know how they looked like

my current Freedom design, because she had so much potential and she should've have died after like 5 seconds for dramatic effect to top off a mediocre book (seriously, there were so many ways they could've kept her alive).
design notes:
since she is from an ancient, mixed species verison of the modern day kinds, she wouldn't look specifically like one of the tribes. she's described to be mostly LeafWing with some SkyWing and RainWing attributes in there, so she's kinda a mix of everything here. i tried to make her look mystical and strange compared to modern day dragons. ex, no ears, extra horns, frilly wings, and i imagine she could have retractable claws.
i gave her leafy patterns on her talons to symbolize her LeafSpeak because i think that should be cannon, and Sundew should have it too. i think over the thousands of years of using LeafSpeak would make her patterns spread across her body and make them brighter.
making her fluffy because 1 its fun the draw, 2 it contrasts with her personality and aids with the whole "looks like a baby but is actually 5000 years old" thing, and 3 it looks like leafy bits
since she's physically only a year or so old when she died the first time, she would be very small, described as fitting on Cottonmouths lap. she'd be stubby and stout despite her loud personality. maybe in the mindscape she could change her appearance but idk. if she could shapeshift in the mindscape she would use it to annoy Cottonmouth more or something.
for her eye colour i didn't know whether to make the irises green or yellow, but i went with red because it looked cool and worked better with the other colours. i debated making the sclera greenish white, and i know when she died her physical body had them, but for this design i went with yellow.

Freedom!! A prompt from my Wings of Fire Goretober Challenge. A little late with this one, but oh well.
I don't really get the hatred towards The Flames of Hope...? I also thought it was a little disappointing (especially for a grand finale), but I didn't think it was bad. I feel like people need to lower their expectations for a series that targets elementary students. If fourth grade me read this book, Freedom would have RUINED me 😭
I think its main problem was introducing Cottonmouth and Freedom waaaay too late. A lot of people seem to hate Cottonmouth being the real villian, but I'm actually okay with that 🤷♀️ I thought the book had good tension and some cute moments. People who complain about it being too cheesy forget that WoF has been cheesy from the start lol.

I wonder how Cottonmouth and Freedom were like in the first century or so since Freedom is just like a fetus.
Cottonmouth: "You BASTARD! Piece of sub-human trash! Twenty years of trying to work with a god damn WEED to be wasted on a useless FUCK like you!"

Tragic and vengeful child/child-coded villains/antagonists who are eventually “defeated” by being shown the error of their actions as well as true compassion and understanding for the first time. Gotta be one of my new favorite character types.
Like. Even if they’re not a villain/antagonist, just a really young child who’s been through a lot and is really jaded, I’m just. M A X I M U M C O M P E L L E D.
(Bonus points if they’re immortal/have been around a long time)

Wings of Fire designs #9? - Lizard/Freedom and Sunstreak
These are just headshots because 1, I said so, and 2, they're not from the main 10 tribes (Beetlewings lack a canon appearance, Freedom is pre-scorching).
Oh boy I have to talk about these two and my designs for them
Let's get this over with
Freedom: She was a very fun character at first, in my opinion. I loved the concept of her backstory and why it made her act the way she does. But then four or five modern-day dragons roll into her mindscape and go "hey we have feelings actually", and she changes her mind after FIVE THOUSAND YEARS of believing that everyone is terrible and being forced to put up with dead immortal Cottonmouth? If it was really that easy to change someone, the conclusion with Darkstalker would've gone way differently. I don't really have much to say about her, I'll probably save the rest for a different post I have planned. But come on, what a rushed development.
As for her design, I tried to make her look Leafwing, but not really Leafwing. I tried to lean into her being an ancient species that was likely some sort of ancestor to multiple tribes including Leafwings, so she has several features of other tribes that are a bit Leafwing-ified.
Sunstreak: I don't actually have much to say about him. He's an ancient guy from a species Clearsight bred out of existence. Honestly, all my real opinions of him are linked to Clearsight and mostly focus on her more than him, so I'll save them for when I eventually make a Clearsight design.
His design was a little uninspired since I didn't have as many ideas as I thought I did going into it. I just tried to take his description combined with some features I liked from other Sunstreak designs and do something I liked. Due to the style of this, he's not really iridecent in the drawing? Maybe if I ever draw him again I'll get the chance to show that. Also yes, the Beetlewing design was mostly based on Peregrinecella's. Maybe one day I'll sit down and draw out a proper Beetlewing design, but I'm not really too worried about it. Maybe if I ever mess with fantribe/general non-canon stuff again, I have a few things I wouldn't mind doing that for.
