Apprenticember - Day 10
”What is their relationship to the other arcana like?”
I’ll try to keep this relatively brief with a list (although I am considering these more in the classic readings of the Tarot deck, and my own personal interpretations, rather than the limiting and sometimes contradictory versions presented in the game itself):
The Fool - Generally antithetical to Lua’s nature, they cannot be cross with ‘the innocent’ but they can only be in this state when not fully recovered from trauma.
The Magician - I feel they are in some ways going to be close to any magic user, and Lua is no exception - their innate magic harmonizes with this Arcana.
The High Priestess - With her ties to both magic and the moon, she is going to fundamentally relate to Lua, however, her more academic/formalized bent can make them nervous.
The Empress - The warmth of this card suits Lua’s fundamentally loving nature, at least if one considers it in a ‘found family’ sense. Lua’s relationship to the blood relatives is poor, and they have no desire to have children of their own, meaning this Arcana can put them in mind of their own severed bonds.
The Emperor - As the flip side of the previous, Lua can feel similarly to the Empress, similarly enjoying what he embodies, but also distant from some of his core precepts.
The Hierophant - Lua’s need for routine, familiarity, and stability match well with the predictable and stalwart Hierophant. Although leery of corruption, they do fundamentally trust in the greater systems of the world - even if their bent is biological rather than social.
The Lovers - If Lua and Aleis were just a bit more codependent, it’s likely that this Arcana could be their patron, as it is, they are close to, and friendly with them.
The Chariot - Lua’s hesitance and self-doubt means they are antithetical to this Arcana in nature. While they seek to improve themselves in this way, the powerful will of this Arcana can overwhelm and frighten them.
Strength - A core for Lua’s being, they are still hesitant to knowledge things outright, which means they can be shy around this Arcana.
The Hermit - Self-reflection and peace through isolation are critical for Lua, and were they more divorced from their personal interconnections, their attunement to the wild spaces they love would make them likely to have the Hermit as a patron.
Wheel of Fortune - The complex cycles of life, death, and rebirth are things that fascinate and compel Lua. While this manifests as a deeply personal and seemingly endless amount of knowledge about the natural world, they do accept the impermanence of it all. While not exactly in line with the Wheel, they are still familiar with it’s turns and find it compelling.
Justice - There’s no way around this - as would be expected for their neurotype, Lua has a strong sense of justice and fairness. She is important to them as a precept, and is an idea they return to continually in social situations.
The Hanged Man - If we see the Hanged Man purely as submission to outside forces, then he is very much in opposition of Lua, however, if we look at him as acceptance, then we see someone Lua needs much more to embrace.
Death - Their spouse’s patron, Lua is well familiar with death, but for many years thought themselves outside it (as the way one who is young tends to do) they have come much more to accept and understand Death over the years, embracing it’s necessary changes.
Temperance - Lua respects her, although does not always embody her. Let’s face it, Lua is a creature of impulse in may ways (if unconventionally so,) good and bad.
The Devil - When not in corrupted and reversed form - Lua can be known to be tied the physical and material. Not in the form of ownership, but their bonds to those they love. Lua tries to steer clear, but no one of this earth is fully free from bonds in it.
The Tower - While their life has gone through several damaging and dramatic changes in the past, at present they find no particular alignment with this Arcana.
The Star - Harmonious with the moon, she is more seen than unseen, but her guiding light is similar to Lua’s ingrained self-assuredness.
The Moon - Lua’s Patron.
The Sun - Somewhat in opposition to the moon, the decisiveness of this Arcana can be too much for Lua at times, but he is not so far removed from his celestial compatriots and Lua finds harmony with all of them.
Judgement - Lua has a complex and difficult relationship to this Arcana, at present if she were more cruel she would find scorn for them, but as such, she waits for them to overcome their internal insecurities.
The World - It will be a long while before Lua truly understands this Arcana, but they welcome him with open arms.
