It looks like with the movies taking off, everyone is on the Dune train now!! Which is very exciting, I’m glad a bunch of new people are discovering this media and reading the books, but can I recommend you the David Lynch, Dune (1984) movie.
Tumblr media
First of all, if you are invested in the lore of the books and the deeper messaging of the story, you’re going to need to turn that part of your brain Off. If you love kick ass shit and are willing to be slightly tipsy while you watch and have a great goddamn afternoon, this is the flick for you.
Now first fun fact I’m going to share with you. David Lynch (twin peaks, eraserhead director, celebrated surrealist) turned down the opportunity to direct Return of the Jedi for this film. A film that was devastatingly slow to make, changed hands multiple times, had a pricy VFX budget of $40 million and then made barely $31 million, David Lynch turned down Star Wars to work on it. And he did this when he had never read the novel, and did not even like or engage with sci fi media. THAT’S how you know we’re really in for something.
Tumblr media
Now this film has some big names in it! We’ve got a young Kyle MacLachlan who is rocking some Devastating outfits:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We’ve got Sir Patrick Stewert as our Gurney and Sting, lead singer of the police, playing the 15 year old Feyd Rautha! If you wanted to see a grown man, sprayed orange, basically naked playing a free wheeling maniac you are in for a treat! And another fun fact, David Lynch also did not know who these actors were, he made a mistake and thought Patrick Stewert was someone else and when Sting said he was in the police he assumed he was in an organization of lawmen.
Tumblr media
Now these characters are familiar to you, but let me get into the unfamiliar. Lynch made some directorial executive decisions throughout this film, for I suppose the ease of the viewer? I mean an adaptation is supposed to adapt so he went let me change some stuff up👏👏👏.
Those who paid attention to Jessica’s backstory may know about the Weirding Way. This is a martial arts style created by the Bene Gesserit, and practiced by Paul. It is more than just a fighting style but also an important philosophical concept, like Aikido or how Kung Fu has foundations in Buddhism.
You may also be familiar with the quote “My name is a killing word.” This inner monologue of Paul’s refers to how his title Muad’dub will be used to spur a holy war. A simple name is what people will die and bleed for, it will be what they scream as they cut down enemies.
Dark! Intense! That’s Dune, anyways in the novel it’s easy to take your time exploring these concepts. Introducing the audience to the religious ramifications of a simple name and fighting practice and how these things can have rippling repercussions upon a society like the Freman.
Now David Lynch didn’t have time for that! He had the belief (that may be right🤷‍♂️!) That watching a bunch of people kick each other on top of a sand dune would be Lame😭😭
So he made the choice for his film that “My name is a killing word” was to be taken Absolutely Literally and invented a device where if the freman said the name Muad-dib, shit would explode.
Tumblr media
If they said Paul’s name, they could Explode Stuff. Let it sink in how rad that is. Hell yeah man, hell yeah. Imagine me interpreting religious text that way, imagine if I made a bible movie and the moral I took from a parable is that when Jesus asked for food and everyone donated fish, I concluded that Jesus was a mutant who had fish powers and could immediately conjure fish with magic and gave him fish death rays that shot out of his hands.
So that’s what you can expect from this interpretation, the weirding way now means everyone has Lasers its rad as hell.
Some other incredible choices made! This is a spoiler, but in the novels and the new films you can see the Freman collecting every scrap of water they can. Dr Liet-Kynes, the planetologist, reveals to us it’s because they have a long, multiple generation spanding plan to fix the planet. By introducing this water back they hope to reset the ecosystem over centuries of work. The reason they have been unable to do this is because a green planet would obviously not have worms and sand who produce spice, the most coveted drug in the empire, so imperial and harkonnen forces have been stopping this from ever happening. They want to be free from oppression so that they can start to work on slowly fixing their world, a project that plays out in Paul’s adult life and has its own dramas and complexities.
In Dune 1984??? The moment, the Moment Paul lays out his cousin and throws the final punch, it begins to rain in Arrakis. As if they were all under a magical curse and were just waiting for a teenager to come fight another teenager and then the water will come back. It’s so good, it’s so funny.
Tumblr media
Also Pugs! House Atreides official Pugs! Paul has pugs in his lap!!
Tumblr media
This is honestly an adaptation choice that I really really like! Paul is the result of centuries of selective breeding, this practice is an artform to the Bene Gesserit and a skill that they monitor closely. It produces bizarre and sometimes terrifying results and is the reason for Paul’s existence.
I think having an animal that was also created through selective breeding, was engineered from a wolf into an animal that can hardly breathe is an incredible metaphor! A smart and identifiable symbol for the audience, I think it’s a slam dunk and the new movies should have done it to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways can not recommend this film enough.
-The body suits the bad guys wear are made out of real body bags, that actually had been used.
-David Lynch to this day hates it.
-The original cut was four hours.
-The cast and crew were sick the Entire shoot with something they called Montezuma's Revenge, which was probably just food poisoning, side effects from the constant smog because they shot the whole thing on backup generators, illness from the cockroach infestation and terrible morale.
-Frank Herbert saw it multiple times and said he absolutely loved it.
-When they ride the worms, sick rock jams play.
If you love electric guitar, lasers, worms and will forgive me for not including all the trigger warnings cause Yes this film will gross you out, then go watch this movie.

Judy Garland (Meet Me In St. Louis, A Star is Born, Summer Stock)— Judy is the GOAT when it comes to classic movie musicals. The voice of an angel who deserved so much better than she got. She can sing she can dance she can act she's a triple threat. Though she had a turbulent personal life (her treatment as a child star by the studio system makes me mad as hell like Louis b Mayer fight me ((she was made to believe that she was physically unattractive by the constant criticism of film executives who made her feel ugly and who manipulated her onscreen appearance by capping her teeth and using discs in her nose to change its shape and Mayer called her "my little hunchback" like imagine hearing that as a child and not having damage)) she always goddamn delivered on screen and in any performance she gave. She began in vaudeville performing with her sisters and was signed to MGM at 13. Starting out in supporting parts especially paired with mickey Rooney in a bunch of films (she's the best part tbh) she eventually transferred to the lead role. She is best known for her starring role in movie musicals like the iconic Wizard of Oz (somewhere over the rainbow still hits hard and is ranked the top film song of all time), meet me in St. Louis (Judy singing have your self a merry little Christmas brings tears to the eyes she is that powerful), the Harvey girls (she looks like a technicolor dream and sings a catchy af song about trains), Easter parade ( dancing and singing with Fred Astaire), for me and my gal, the pirate, and summer stock ( with pal Gene Kelly who she helped when he was starting out and he helped her when she was struggling). But she also does non- singing just as well like the clock ( her first movie where she sings no songs and is an underrated ww2 era romance), her Oscar nominated a star is born ( like the man that got away she put her whole soul in that and I have beef with the fact she lost to grace kelly ((whom I love but like still not even her best work)), and judgement at Nuremberg (a courtroom drama about the nazi war criminal trials). Outside of film she made concert appearances to record-breaking audiences, released 8 studio albums, and had her own Emmy-nominated tv series. She was the youngest (39) and first female recipient of the Cecil B DeMille award for lifetime achievement in the film industry. Girl was a lifelong democrat and was a financial and moral supporter of many causes including the civil rights movement (she was at the March on Washington and held a press conference to protest the 16th street Baptist church bombings). She was a friend of the Kennedy family and would call jfk weekly often ending the calls by singing the first few lines of somewhere over the rainbow (she thought of them as Gemini twins). She was a member of the committee for the first amendment which was formed in response to the HUAC investigations. Though she died far too young and tragically she remains an icon for her work and her life. As a girl who didn't feel like i was as pretty as everyone else I have always felt a connection to Judy and I just really love her.
Patsy Kelly (The Countess of Monte Cristo, Merrily We Live, Topper Returns)—patsy kelly was a character actress best known for her brash wisecracking best friend roles, first appearing in a series of comedy shorts with thelma todd and then in a number of feature films. she was openly gay (lovers included tallulah bankhead), even candidly referring to herself as a dyke to the press on occasion and declaring she didn't intend to marry.
This is round 1 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Patsy Kelly:
Tumblr media
Oh, that wry little smile! She could sing. She could dance. She could do comedy and drama. Her mother enrolled her in dancing school to distract her from playing baseball and trying to become a firefighter. At the height of her career, she burned the whole thing down (heh) by answering a reporter's softball question about why she never married with "Because I'm a dyke." She became Tallulah Bankhead's "private secretary" and by the 1960s, she was once again a prominent character actress. Remember Laura-Louise in "Rosemary's Baby"?

Judy Garland:
Tumblr media
Judy's voice alone qualifies her for at least top ten hottest HOT VINTAGE MOVIE WOMEN. She was a truly incredible swing singer, with a stunning voice on top of her technique. Her short dark hair looked incredible in just about any style. Have I mentioned her swagger? I can’t do it justice with words. She had swagger. She was funny as hell, and clever too. Incredibly charming and cool. I adore her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her eyes, her voice have bewitched me
Tumblr media
I mean how can you beat the one and only Judy? She's beautiful, her smile is contagious, the way she sings with her whole body. You can't help but love her.
youtube
Beautiful woman, love her singing voice. And she can do everything between happy or silly and angry or heartbroken

Nico Di Angelo 💀 Will Solace ☀️
You don’t know how happy I was at the news of their solo book! I been off and on Percy Jackson because doctor who but it been on my back burner. And I found the release date of the book before my bad finals and I just had to act as if I didn’t see if so I could focus , problem is my adhd made me completely forget about the book until the pretty cover came on my to my feed and i dropped everything to read it.
I love them💕 I Want to do an embroidery for them too but I think I might listen to the book again as I can’t pick a favorite line to do. I might also do the other main character and add my headcannon ideas as I feel so proud of these came out!
Hazel
Percy & Annabeth
Jason
Leo
If you want to read my headcannons about their outfits, then it under the cut as I have many ideas.
[ID: The picture is a felt doll that is the shape of a gingerbread man with a big circle head Nico Di Angelo and Will solace. Nico have light color felt for skin, very dark brown hair that is to his shoulders and have a bit of a curl. He have black ties shoes, dark grey rip pants, a black and grey shirt with the skull on it. He have on a sliver studded belt, with beads for the studs, and a chain coming off of it. He have his ad jacket with a Italy flag patch in the right side and a sun patch in the left side. He have Bracelet on the hand with the sun patch sleeves. It a rainbow beaded one and a yellow and black twist. On this other wrist he have a black, read, and blue sparky thread one, a ace flags: black, grey, white, purple. And he have a beaded disability flag colors are black, green, blue, white, yellow, reddish pick, black. Will has light color felt for skin, short yellow blonde. He has ears and a little bit of black felt is peaking out for hearing aids.he have a blue shirt and a fort pocket, a little coco puff is in the pocket, he have on cargo shorts, a yellow orange sweatshirt around his waist, he I have on one blue sock and one read with cream shoes that have on the left one embroidery purple hyacinthus, a lyre and in the other side is a bow and arrow and the symbol of healing that have the single snake. He have camp bead and a sliver bead for the ring on the chain. On this left wrist he have a rainbow bracelet, and a random color one that is blue, light purple and light gray. On his other wrist is a bi flag one pink, purple, blue. And the last one is a matching one with Nico that is black and yellow.:ID]
Headcannons for Will
Star Wars
-I was going for like Star Wars socks, as this boy is either in flip flops or cowboy boots, he rarely wear anything else so he have fun socks to show off when he does
-(Maybe not the first time but maybe one of the first few time Nico said he love Will. Will make the Star Wars reference with Hans saying ‘I know’ and Nico is slightly confused. But then imagining his reaction when he all invested in the movie and then Hans say the line and Nico just stops and is like WILL! And will just start laughing “I couldn’t help it!”)
Shoes
-He only have one pair of sneakers and I was trying to think of something to Blightten up his outfit, and thought the Apollo cabin can’t leave anything plain. So Apollo theme shoe (dark idea is that they belonged to one of his older brothers who painted them and died and Will wanted to bring something that reminded him of his family into the underworld with him)
Coco puff
-Little coco puff in Will’s pocket I can’t decide if the little puff is attached to Will because it a deamon that Will actually helps Nico fight or the puffs are attached to anyone who have the same deamons so like if the little one is bad self confidence, then Will also have to work on his bad self confidence
Beads
-Enough beads for him to have gotten to camp one year before Percy. So he had two good years with his siblings before the wars. Just so he also have a family when his mom is on tour. But I do also think he has a lot of hidden Apollo kid power that he doesn’t know about so he think he weak with a randomly strong small. Like that is until Apollo learns where he went and is like how are you alive. Will “power of love… and really bad nicknames”
Disabled
-I tried to give him hearing aids, they enup being hidden in his hair, I was trying to think of a color that would stand out against the yellow hair as I also thought he would pick a noticeable color, and I wanted with black. Just him going into the underworld with so many extra batteries, but also him and Nico do a bit of asl or just come up with little hand signals.
Bracelet
-Rainbow one, bi vone, matching one with Nico, and a random one from a sibling
Headcannon Nico
Bracelets
-Nico has bracelets as during craft time some of the younger Apollo kids were make some and they all like to make Will some. At the time Nico was there making their matching ones at the time and will was making one for Nico. And then one little kid come up and whispers something to Will he grins. Nico look up because the silences and Will just nods to Nico, then the little kid goes over to Nico and holds up the bracelet and said they made it for him. Will fills in that they want to give it to him and so Nico just like ‘yeah sure’ and hold out his wrist and the kid tie it on before running happyly back to their table. Will leans over like ‘now you can’t take it off’ Nico just looks at him and Will is just ‘how did you think I get so many.” And then the younger kids even some from other cabins make Nico bracelets and he feels honored,
-Random one that is supposed to be the one the kids made him but also slightly Star Wars theme, I was trying to make it with the dark sparkly thread as I can imagine that how a kid see Nico. The other one is beads for the disability pride flag. Either Will makes if for him and he have one too if something with the flag as I love deaf Will and disabled Nico. Or another little kid make it for Nico who also have a disability and that help Nico acc his. I had to add a asexual one too, I can’t help it. Beads so he can mess with them when on edge
Beads
-And I love the idea that nico some how get the camp beads either he steal one each year as he wanted to be apart but hey keep them in a box some place and then after will saying something like he always had a fear of Nico leaving, and to show him he acc camp as home, the next morning Nico walked out of his cabin with the beads. Or Will just keep saving beads for Nico. Like it started as Will keep going around asking about Nico and got upset when he was told he left already, maybe he ask Percy and Percy tell him something like Nico doesn’t like camp. But Will meet Nico in the small window when Nico was at camp before he first ran away and got a little crush that his siblings notice, and then when Michael was giving the beads to his cabin, he give two to will, and just held a finger to his mouth before Will could say anything and say something like ‘you need to hold onto Nico’s bead, in case he comes back.” And so when Will was head he keep asking for an extra one to save for Nico. And he gives them to him at one point, maybe even just leave them by his bed during the 3 days.
Jacket
-Nico get a over size jacket so Will can steal it sometimes. He had a Italy flag patch, maybe Chiara got it from him because they are both Italian. And then sun patch maybe as a slight joke that the Apollo kids got him as he is always with them. And then I tried to do it so it look like he sewed them in himself. Pockets are totally full of chocolate and random rocks he finds, that he offers to Will and younger campers.

I had the chance to commission Kahl'ryn from @psychededoodle. I have no words for how much I love this. Everything, all the details, the expression, the scar, the cybernetics, everything is so well done!!
And with this amazing portrait - I'm gonna talk a bit about Kahl and what he is up to in my Arclight AU. So... some rambling thoughts under the cut. :)
For reference: The Arclight AU is a melting pot of various sci-fi franchises. Star Wars, Farscape, WildStar, Star Trek, to just name a few. However, the core of it is Star Wars. A lot of the universe rules are Star Wars rules - such as how space travel works and the Force.
The major players from Star Wars include: the Galactic Empire, the Mandalorians, the Sith Empire, the Chiss Ascendancy, the High Republic, and the Grysk Hegemony.
Much like swtor!Kahl, arclight!Kahl was born in the Sith Empire. His father is the (now former) Sith Lord Xhai'tan. He was trapped in a burning building when he was a child, which is how he got the burn scars. He joined the Imperial Academy and joined Imperial Intelligence upon graduating. Some of his first missions included hunting down terrorists and stopping Darth Jadus. For his double agent arc however, he didn't infiltrate the SIS.
In Arclight the Sith Empire is mostly at odds with the Dominion from WildStar. So, Kahl is tasked with infiltrating the Dominion and carrying out his mission there. The Star Cabal is still a threat and Kahl eventually dismantles it.
Now things really start to diverge. You see, most everything from Shadow of Revan onward doesn't happen. So how does my boy meet Theron?
I made the executive decision that since the Republic isn't the same Republic as in swtor and isn't the power in direct conflict with the Sith Empire, that Theron would instead be from the Dominion. ((I know, I know, not the best allegory if you know anything about the Dominion - like they live up to their name. Does make it way easier for Theron to defect though.))
Then I needed the catalyzing event. Enter the Dread Masters. They were imprisoned by the Dominion, but they escape but with Emperor Vitiate dead (did I mention that? no? So, yeah Emperor Vitiate does die, and after a short war between the Sith, Acina comes out on top and takes the Throne - this is also the time of Malgus's first betrayal,) they go rogue.
Kahl is called in to help with the situation by Lana and she eventually wrangles the help of Theron in tracking and defeating the Dread Masters. Much like in Shadow of Revan, Kahl and Theron grow close.
Then the tradegy of Grismara happens. For those unfamiliar with WildStar. Grismara was home to the Mordesh. A elf-like species who were masters of science, alchemy, and art. They were arrogant and proud, sure of their own superiority. That was until the Everlife Elixir, developed by their most lauded scientist became their curse. The Everlife was meant to give immortality, and they trusted Dr. Lazarin so much that it was distributed worldwide. Then the Everlife became the Contagion. Everyone (and the lore implies everyone) slowly turned into super aggressive mindless cannibals (basically zombies).
Grismara was a neutral world on the edge of Sith and Dominion borders. Both sides were trying to ally with them, but when the Contagion broke out - the Sith turned their back on the world and the Dominion set up a blockade and quarantined it.
Kahl and Theron disobeyed orders to try and help the Mordesh. During that terrible year long attempt at saving the Mordesh, Dr. Lazarin made a small break through. He created the Vitalis Serum, which delayed the effects of the Contagion, but also required frequent injections. The remaining Mordesh were trapped in a half-life. They no longer age (they got their immortality) but they also are unable to have children unless a cure can be found.
Kahl and Theron organized for the last of the Mordesh, to escape. Taking them to the Odessen Coalition. A small and new coalition of planets that came together with the help of Xhai'tan (Kahl's father) and Thrass (who is alive and rescued by Xhai'tan - That is another books of thoughts so if you are curious about how Thrass fits in here feel free to ask.)
With the fall of Grismara, Kahl and Theron defect and join the Coalition. Kahl eventually commanding a heavy cruiser as part of the Maarasu Nighthunters - the Odessen Defense Force division in charge of covert operations and missions that take place beyond the borders of the Coalition. It is Kahl who finds Thrawn and Ezra where they have been stranded for 7 years (again another book of thoughts that I can talk about later). Kahl then goes on to support Thrawn, Thrass, Eli, and the others Chiss fighting to save the Ascendancy.
I'll stop there but....yeah so lots of thoughts.....enjoy!

I wanted to design a Post-RotJ survivor Anakin for a while, and my extreme dislike of his de-aged ghost appearance in Ahsoka is motivating me to finally do it. In the movies, almost everything about his disabilities and death was written around morality and convenience. He's scary because of his disabilities and their villain-designed accommodations; he sacrifices himself to prove his goodness, the final "use" in a life devoted to being useful to others. I love the ending of RotJ for the tragic failure in Luke's arc and parallel with Padme, but I also want more for Anakin.
This is a version where Luke succeeds in saving not just his father's morality but his life. Some tiny part of Anakin wants to live, in spite of his pain and guilt. Instead of flying the escape vessel back to the moon of Endor, Luke flies to the nearest Rebel med-ship and gets Anakin out of the failing Vader helmet and suit and into a bacta tank. This continues the theme in RotJ of Luke becoming emotionally distant from his friends/the cause because he still believes in Anakin. In this version, that hope starts to become inconvenient.
I do not think Leia and Han would quickly forgive Anakin, even when they learn he killed the Emperor. This becomes an issue when Luke needs Rebel money for new accommodations for Anakin's amputations, damaged lungs, and newly weakened heart.
CW: long post, medical descriptions
While Palpatine created Anakin's suit and helmet in part to accommodate his disabilities, his greater priority was making Anakin useful, powerful, and intimidating. Luke just wants Anakin to be alive. (Comfortable and independent, if possible: two things Anakin has never been.) Palpatine also spared no expense from his entire galaxy of wealth, while Luke has to borrow from some rich sucker who can get behind the rehabilitation of their most dangerous enemy (Mon? Lando? or someone less politically correct?).
I've been researching what we'd use in the real world for Anakin's disabilities, because I think it's important, and because I've become fonder of hard scifi, and because hand-wavey soft scifi would wear off when the money gets tight. Most limb-different people in the real world do not get prosthetics; they are very expensive and not always useful.
Tumblr media
^ when you look up "most useful," Google will unhelpfully show you "most advanced"
As Vader, he would have had access to the best technology, something like our implantable myoelectric sensors. (One of the best arms on the market today is called LUKE, which stands for "Life Under Kinetic Evolution" and is of course a reference to Star Wars. Life imitates art better than vice versa.) But in this design, Anakin has only one prosthetic, a body-powered hook on his left arm. Obi-Wan cut his legs above the knees, and Dooku cut his right arm above the elbow, so these prosthetics would have to be more complex. But Obi-Wan cut his left arm below the elbow, which is easier to accommodate. Body-powered prosthetics are maneuvered by things like harnesses on your shoulders and have been around for a long time.
Anakin's chronic (type 2) respiratory failure is treated with noninvasive ventilation; as Vader, this was his helmet (sorta similar to F below), which must have been connected to a ventilator somewhere on his person (his chest thing?). In RotJ, he wanted to see Luke with his own eyes, so I think he'd want a different patient interface. The most common is an oro-nasal mask (B).
Tumblr media
A more realistic/cheaper ventilator would take up more space than Darth Vader's. But Luke is not Anakin's only ally; I think R2, when given the chance, would gladly regain his loyalty to Anakin and volunteer as ventilator, mobility aid, and advocate. Would this cause a rift between him and C3PO, who, while Anakin's creation, is also more emotionally complex? Maybe!
Another thing to keep in mind is that Anakin (probably) still has a powerful connection to the Force, which he could use to accommodate his disabilities like the blind guys in Rogue One and Quest for Camelot. But due to his emotional and spiritual exhaustion, I think his connection would be weakened and unreliable. Billions of people wishing him punished or dead would be more than enough reason to cut himself off from their luminous lives.
What would happen next? I write faster than I draw and I want to draw, so I'm shifting into draw mode before I can figure out the rest of the story.

My dream is that you one day will write boiling rwrb au
Also I need to know all of your thoughts about the film
RED WHITE AND ROYAL BLUE MY BELOVED!!!!
In summary: I absolutely love it and have so many thoughts. But also I don’t see myself writing an obikin au for it. (Not to worry, I speak autocorrect 😉) Read more below the break
I adore rwrb. It’s my new comfort movie. I’ve watched it three times and I read the book after my first viewing.
The first time I watched in I could NOT believe how gay it was. Honestly I am still twirling my hair and kicking my feet that we get to have a rom com that is just SO!gay. I want more! And I’m really hoping that it’s popularity means we’ll get it
*side note for any of my younger followers: this makes me feel so old. But as a teen in the 2000s there wasn’t a lot of queer media readily available and what was definitely wasn’t showing or marketed toward teens. What I was aware of was adult dramas surrounding HIV/AIDS. Glee and Modern Family didn’t come out until I graduated. Stories like this would have been a game changer
Anyways: back to rwrb. I LOVE that it gets to unabashedly be everything that it is. Is it corny as hell? Yes! Is it tropey and over the top? Yes! Does it read like a fanfic? Yes! Is it fantastic that it gets to be all of these things that every!single! hetero romance/romcom gets to be while basically leading a pride parade through everyone’s Amazon Prime account? YES!!!
A short list of my favorite things about rwrb in no particular order:
All the star wars references in the book. They are nerds and they are my kind of people
Get Low is also my drunk jam. Yes I am the target audience. Yes I am ok with this
There’s a female president and vice president (girl power!)
The sex scene might just be the sweetest, most intimate thing I have witnessed with my own two eyes? It was so tender and so real
There was zero attempt made to pretend that they weren’t just copying the royal family and the fact that the movie leaned into it so hard is absolutely hilarious to me.
They’re also a biracial couple and they don’t shy away from Alex’s experiences as the son of an immigrant to the US (the book does more here)
The key stays on during sex, just hanging there bonking him in the face. 10/10. Hilarious. Kills me.
They do not shy away from gay sex happening and the boys are horny for each other. Like, we don’t just see them kiss once. Again, I’m old, but YES!!!!
I’m cutting myself off here but I could very much go on.
As for the possibility of an obikin au: I’m not going to lie, I thought about it. But I don’t think I see that happening from me.
The first reason is mostly how I write obikin. I don’t write same age aus because I can’t personally separate out their age gap and power dynamic from the other aspects of their canon relationship. I just don’t know how to make them work as peers. (Note: nothing against same age aus, I’ve read many that I’ve adored. I just can’t wrap my head around it to make it happen myself).
Secondly, I kind of don’t want to touch it? I realize I’m basically the queen of looking at a movie and thinking YES, but make it obikin! But I just went on a rant about how this movie/story feels special in that 1) it’s already queer and 2) is allowed to unapologetically be itself. And I don’t know that I want to change that
(Would I read a RWRB obikin au? Absolutely)

Here we go! Breakfast Tea's (vaguely) coherent Survivor Thoughts!
Spoliers under the cut. You have been warned.
Cal - HOW MUCH TRAUMA CAN YOU PUT ONE PERSON THROUGH?!?!?! My heart aches for him. When the game tells you to use his dark side powers in the third act, I absolutely refused, hoping the game would auto-continue because I refused to engage. NOPE! NO CHOICE. And okay, yeah, it was A LOT of fun but ow ow ow ow ow. He needs SO MUCH TIME to heal. The end of the game hit so hard because it feels so heavy and uncertain. We don't leave off with Cal feeling hopeful for the future. He admits he's scared, oh, and by the way, STILL TAPPED INTO THE DARK SIDE. Throughout the whole story, he just goes and goes and takes blow after blow, and then it ends with him hearing Cere. Watch me write fanfic set after the game in which I send Cal off on his own because REASONS. Ahem, anyway!
CANON JEDI CANNOT COOK AND ALSO DRINK TEA, THANK YOU.
BD-1 - BD remains the best droid. The BEST. He is always there for Cal, and he's so happy to see Cordova. And when he hugs Cal after Cere dies? *sobbing* Also, it did NOT escape my notice that the option to EMBRACE THE DARK SIDE comes up after Bode punts BD across the chamber. I LOVE THIS LITTLE DROID SO MUCH.
Echoes - I love how the echoes work in this game. The entire quest starts out partially because Cal finds an echo. Some echoes are visualised, and you can re-experience them, which is nice to see in canon. Cal also walks through Dagan's memory which intrigued me. Basically, they remain completely integral to both Cal and the wider narrative.
Also, as a game, it is just a lot of fun to play. There are puzzles that make you feel clever for solving them. Combat was fun and exciting, I loved all the lightsaber forms, and I have learned that I am over-reliant on Slow in JFO. Honestly, it's all still buzzing in my head. I need to replay it at a much slower pace now that I can relax about spoilers.
The Mantis Crew - While I knew they would've all gone their separate ways, it was still a lot to take in. It makes sense to me (Greez isn't cut out for this, Merrin wants to see the galaxy, and Cere's longing to reclaim the Jedi's legacy), and I'm glad everyone got together eventually, but I missed their vibe... At least we got flashbacks!
Cere - Absolutely devastated at her loss. She was Cal's mentor and therefore basically doomed by Star Wars law (she's the Obi-Wan), but it absolutely destroyed me. And it destroyed Cal, too. Cal, who was hanging by a thread for so much of this. Losing her, and the way he lost her, was too much for him. I wanted to see more of her SO MUCH, but I understand why we didn't. Ooof, I'm not getting over that anytime soon. I got my wish to play as her (and yes, she's WAY stronger than Cal), but... but...
Bode - I had a strong feeling he would betray Cal, but I had no idea WHY. It was a really nice touch and worked really well. His motivations make perfect sense, and they aren't some galaxy-bending quest to rule over others - he's just a father desperate to protect his daughter. I *love* how this series tells personal stories in the midst of such *literal* spectacle. Cal chasing after him, everything that's happening because Bode's a traitor... ow, ow, ow, ow, ow. And then the end, when Cal kills him to save himself and Merrin? GoodBYE. Oh, and now I'm walking around finishing up missions and there are NEW ECHOES EVERYWHERE that come from Bode.
Cordova - WHAT?!?!?! I screamed, I cried, first when he turned up, and then again when he died. Agony. I am in AGONY. I can barely think about the game right now without breaking down. Also loved the reference to Qui-Gon Jinn, although I also think that makes Cordova a lot younger than I've been headcanoning? Oh well!
Merrin - She remains so much fun. Her and Cal's relationship wasn't what I wanted, but it was handled well enough. The whole fight with the two of them against the giant drill was AMAZING. I absolutely loved the visualisation of her warping power. Oh, and when they take shelter from the sandstorm, and she holds his hand while he's having a nightmare? Perfect. While I would've preferred the two of them remaining friends, them being together doesn't bother me too much.
Greez - he is just so worried for Cal. HE MADE UP A ROOM FOR CAL IN HIS CANTINA AND MAKES HIM TAKE A NAP AND THEN WAKES HIM UP LIKE OLD TIMES YES I AM ALREADY COOKING UP A FANFIC FOR THIS I CAN'T HELP IT. I love how he's always checking in with Cal, making sure he's okay, telling him VERY firmly it is not his fault when Cere dies. Oh no, here I go again, can't stop crying...
Koboh - I love that town and building it up. I'm nowhere near finished yet, and in no rush to do so.
Finale - it took me a while to really sit and take that ending in. In recent years, we've become so used to second parts of trilogies not really having dark and uncertain endings that it really hit me how bleak it initially feels. We are leaving Cal still mourning, still struggling with his own darkness, still hurting... and that works. It works because he isn't finished growing and learning. He's a survivor, but he's a long, long way from thriving. The ending fits. It hurts. Everything hurts. But that story got the only ending that fit how dark it is.
Hey. Hey, Sequel Trilogy. THIS IS HOW YOU TELL A COHESIVE STORY ACROSS MULTIPLE PARTS.
HATE VADER'S REDEMPTION EVEN MORE THAN I ALREADY DID, THANK YOU.

Any eol thoughts? :0
OF COURSE I HAVE THOUGHTS.
First of all, I know many people don't like him for understandable reasons. So if you are a Eöl hater (so valid) this is not the post for you.
HOWEVER I feel we are sleeping on the fact he absolutely slayed. Morgoth? No, Eöl is more goth. He wears his jet-black armour and his jet-black armour ONLY when he leaves Nan Elmoth and his face was 'noble but grim'. GOTH KING.
Personally I like that he is one of the most dubiously moral elves we have. We need more fucked up elves that are fucked up for reasons entirely unrelated to the plot - no oaths, no dooms, he's just like that.
Alright: serious and extremely lengthy thoughts under the cut because this got away from me, whoops.
Eöl is 'kin' to Thingol - I don't know if he would call himself Sindar (though the Sindar don't call themselves Sindar either, so...) but I think he's distinct from the Avari or the Nandor in that he was living among the Doriathrim until he's granted Nan Elmoth
Personally I think 'kin' here is referring to the fact that both Eöl (or perhaps his parents?) and Thingol were part of the host of the Teleri together, and quite possibly high status/close to Thingol, rather than them being literally related
Close enough that Thingol grants him Nan Elmoth for the price of one (very chatty) sword.
He invented a whole ass metal that's so freaking cool.
He was friends with Dwarves - IMO this is a point in favour of an Eöl who is capable of making friends and allies
I think he still had friends in Doriath too - I think it was Girdle and the city he was most uneasy with, I think he desired to live more like they had during the Great Journey. I don't think he visits them, though he might write.
Sometimes they visit him - but infrequently, with long gaps of time between visits, because what is time to elves - and then war comes, and leaving the Girdle becomes more and more dangerous.
I think he is generally, a stern and serious kind of man - strong-willed and proud
But he's also clever and creative and he loves the stars and the woods and wilds and forging; I don't think his life was absent of joy.
I also think he has a strong distrust of the Ainur. It's almost ironic - he thinks they are full of sorcery and trickery and malice, they are kin of the Shadow that hunted them on the Journey, one of them ensnared Thingol, who's to say what happened to their kin across the Sea, if they ever reached land?
It's unfortunate that he chose to live in Nan Elmoth. That forest is deeply entwined with Melian's power, with Song, with Shadow, with magic - it's a beautiful but dark place that only starlight reaches.
The paranoia and fear and distrust inside him festers. Perhaps he has good reason to dislike the Ainur. Perhaps he has good reason to feel paranoid. Maybe he just didn't vibe with Menegroth.
But Nan Elmoth - it takes what's inside of you and amplifies it.
For Melian and Thingol - that was love.
For Eöl? It's fear. It's hate.
Part of the appeal of Eöl for me is this. Nan Elmoth is such a gothic location (as in the literature).
The whole Aredhel/Eöl and Maeglin situation is SO extremely gothic I LOVE gothic lit and I love Sindar so JIRT actually wrote it for me personally.
As for the Noldor - well, I think his dislike of them is pretty valid. I think fanon tends to exaggerate the Noldor-Sindar divide but in Eöl's case he's stated to blame the Noldor for the coming of Morgoth. Of course it isn't actually their fault, but I think this is a pretty understandable emotional conclusion for Eöl to make.
He clearly still considers (as does Thingol) the Teleri his kin and he takes Alqualondë personally.
Now - Aredhel
I consider the Silmarillion version canon:
It is not said that Aredhel was wholly unwilling, nor that her life in Nan Elmoth was hateful to her for many years. For though at Eöl's command she must shun the sunlight, they wandered far together under the stars or by the light of the sickle moon; or she might fare alone as she would, save that Eöl forbade her to seek the sons of Fëanor, or any others of the Noldor
I think they loved each other. I think there was a period of time, in the beginning, when they were happy. They shared a love of the wilds, of wandering and a desire for freedom from authority of kings
Things start to go wrong as Eöl's fear of looming disaster deepens. He becomes more and more restrictive, quicker to anger, more paranoid and fearful
I think this coincides with Maeglin's birth
It's not foresight. It's not Nan Elmoth's Bad Vibes (though they don't help); it's the end of a path of paranoia and fear he's been on for a long time, fear he doesn't know how to deal with so he deals in the only way he knows
He fears for Aredhel as much as he fears her; if wives become of their husband's kin, would the Noldor come and slay her as readily as they might slay him?
Of course not, but he is not mentally able to recognising that
He fears her because - she is a Noldor, she may be a kinslayer herself, what if she turns on him, one day? Best keep her safe in Nan Elmoth, with Maeglin. She can't hurt him in his own house, surely, he thinks.
When they leave, he follows. By the time he catches up to them, he's wound with anger and fear and anxiety - he hasn't been anywhere other than Nan Elmoth and the Blue Mountains in a long, long time. He's in a city of Noldor, who he hates and who have good reason to dislike him
Side note but when he says: 'this land is the land of the Teleri' he's right. The Noldor don't have any more claim to it than anyone else, and until the Noldor & Morgoth came, the Teleri (or the Sindar & Nandor & Avari - but again, they just called themselves Elves) were living across Beleriand. Thingol 'allows' the Noldor to have realms of their own (because well, even if he didn't want to, the Doriathrim are out numbered and Intra-Sindar relationships are complex), they don't have magical claims to lands 99% of them have never seen.
I also don't think it's quite fair of Turgon to say Nan Elmoth would be destroyed/overrun without the Noldor. It's not as if Eol chose to have them as neighbours. He would be in Nan Elmoth whether the Noldor were there or not. They're there to defend their own lands, not Nan Elmoth, which just happens to be there.
It shares borders with Doriath too. Sindarin swords (and Melian's power) keep it safe too.
Continuing with Aredhel & Maeglin now:
I don't think he went to Gondolin with any intent to kill her, or Maeglin.
He wanted his son back (he seems willing, though reluctant, to let Aredhel remain)
It sucks that he seems to consider his wife and child some kind of property, but Turgon has to be reminded that Aredhel is his sister and not his servant so it's a zero point game here. I think this is more a reflection of patriarchy within Elven society (Watsonian) / Tolkien's own biases (Doylist) than anything particular to Eöl.
He is offered a choice: Live in Gondolin, the golden city of sunlight (that he hates) full of Noldor (whom he hates) and Sindar (who probably have little care for him either) or Die in Gondolin and the same choice is given to Maeglin.
I can't help but wonder here - if Turgon had permitted him to leave, would things have gone differently?
It's Maeglin he tries to kill, and Aredhel who steps in to save her son
This makes me insane.... accidentally killing your wife in your attempt to murder your son, after your brother in law has offered you a choice of a gilded cage vs death.
I am not sure why he doesn't say the javelin was poisoned. Was he asked? Did he believe Aredhel had died straight away, so it was a moot point? Was it out of anger? Or did he think they knew? Perhaps he customarily carried poisoned javelins, and thought Aredhel or Maeglin would mention it.
I do think he feels guilt - terrible, awful, all consuming guilt, but rage too, because who was Aredhel to deny him his right over his son? Other sons and other husbands she could have once he and Maeglin were dead. Who was Turgon to command him live in Gondolin or die? Turgon was not his king nor kin.
The Eöl who is thrown off the walls of Gondolin is a shell of the elf who granted Nan Elmoth. He is twisted and tormented by his own mind and his own actions; hate and fear darken his heart, not any curse or doom, nor any innate quality of him.
It's not a curse he yells at Maeglin. It's not a prophecy - it's what Eöl sees as the inevitable result of tangling with the Noldor. Clearly his fear and hate was justified - these Noldor are going to be his doom after all, and so will they be his son's.
Imagine being so terrible they invent the death penalty just for you.
Basically all of this is to say: Eöl is an incredible complicated and fascinating character, with insane Gothic Literature vibes that make me want to put him in a jar and study him

Tumblr media
So I watched this.
-The opening image is in space, with Anthony Hopkins narrating about the Mother World*, and a wormhole opens that cannot be described as anything other than a Space Pussy. Uhh, Cinema.
*(an unwieldy title for a group of bad guys, so eventually the script starts calling them "the Realm" instead, though no one bothered to go back and have them stop talking about "the domain of the Mother World" and such)
-They also try on referring to the villains as "The King's Gaze," the name of the ship they crew, and of course, it is great fun to see working actors talking very seriously about how much they fear the King's Gays.
-As in any Seven Samurai riff, the good guys are humble farmers, which in Zach Snyder Land means they are both pacifistic Luddite believers AND burly Vikings who love to fuck.
Tumblr media
Ladies and gentlemen, a Quaker!
-They're also all white, making Sofia Boutella the only minority and also the violent outsider with a haunted past who keeps talking about how she doesn't belong and everything she touches dies and all that. It's a mite awkward. But she's also the only one who isn't DTF in the Fuck Farm, so who knows?
Tumblr media
-The, uhh, Mother Worlders* show up and prove an eclectic blend of Peaky Binders haircuts, Soviet Russia fashion sense, working-class British accents, and, uhh, Día de Muertos parade?
Tumblr media
Not since Cobra have so many random villain traits fallen under the same tent. You're left asking if it's political commentary or if Snyder just has something against the Angry Video Game Nerd.
-Snyder also tries to do a Good King/Evil Usurper bit with the Mother World, but makes it explicit that during the Good King's reign they were also an expansionist colonial empire just killing the shit out of things. As ever with da Snyd, it's unclear if this is meant to be subversive or just poorly thought out.
-I know there's no hiding that one is doing a Seven Samurai riff, but the MacGuffin is still... grain. The humble villagers aren't mining vibranium or anything, the evil Empire just really wants grain and these villagers are going to give it to them or else. You'd think a post-warp civilization wouldn't need to lean on subsistence farmers for snacks, but there you are.
-The appeal of this, if any, is to do R-rated Star Wars, but for some reason Netflix wanted a PG-13 version of the R-rated Star Wars, so we get something that's... maybe a little wilder than Andor? They redo the cantina confrontation between Obi-Wan and Cornelius Evazan, but here Evazan explicitly wants to rape 'Luke Skywalker' so, uhh, yay?
-Apparently the idea is to do a director's cut later on that'll be three or four hours; it's pretty obvious that stuff's been cut. The narrative spends a lot of time talking about how they're going to find a really cool guy fighting in gladiatorial combat at an arena. The heroes go to the arena, stand next to the arena, talk for a bit, and then leave. No gladiatorial combat is had.
Snyder, you're killing me, man. I thought the whole two-part business was so that we could have a whole movie to get to know these characters, but it basically goes Character Introduction > Standing Around In Crowd Scenes. Unless you're about to die, of course, in which case you get a sizable monologue to put in your acting reel before you leave.
-Oddly, they introduce quite a few characters who seem like they're going to be a part of the Magnificent Space Seven--guy trying to court Sofia Boutella, a turncoat Stormtrooper, a pacifistic robot--only to forget about them. I guess they'll show up in Part 2, but it seems unfulfilling to have this movie be a prolonged "Getting The Band Together" montage with some of the heroes not even getting to be in on the bonding. Which isn't much bonding to begin with, it's just Sofia Boutella sloooowly revealing her backstory and not even getting to the obvious punchline by the closing credits (you killed the princess, didn't ya? This universe might not have Force powers, but you don't need 'em to see that coming).

another magnet movie mreview double feature
toy story 2 and monster's inc.
I swear I don't mean to do 2 at once, I'm watching these semi-daily but I can only review when I have energy, okay break and go
Toy Story 2
Do you ever watch a movie, and find that secretly, scenes from the whole movie are burned into your retinas and are drawn on your eyelids, this was my latest experience watching toy story 2. Toy story 2 is about an inversion on the original, woody is in a secondary location and it's up to the boys to bring him home while he has cowboy doll adventures with jesse and the horse and that other guy. Definitely a more novel setup than "what if a kid was evil" but it leaves a lot of the movie on the shoulders of the boys, who're fun but i would hesitate to say any of them "contribute", honestly mvp of the rescue mission might go to fake buzz, who gets the vent open *and* fights that weird zurg that shows up. I know all it sounds like i've done is complain, but that's mainly because i dont have much else to say otherwise. Toy Story 2 is a natural feeling expansion on the original, talking about one or two things the movie does well would just be repeating "well they did this better than the original, and technology improved over time"
toy story 2 gets a 9/10, and the original gets retroactively bumped to an 8/10
memorable bits: the video game bit, when woody finds all his cool shit, "when she loved me" (honestly the buzz half of this movie is less than the woody half that's why all these scenes are woody's), the invention of asmr cleaning videos, star wars references fuckin everywhere, the entire last 30 minutes being stuck in my brain since childhood with it's weird soft lighting and like fun gray stuff
monster's inc.
Now this is a movie I can analyze. Monster's inc. is about how we need green energy fucking now, naturally it was released in 2002. Sully and Mike are working class factory men in the scare factory, a power plant but instead of torturing rocks they torture children by going into their rooms at night and scaring them. They do this with minimal safety equipment and with an understanding that touching a human child is explicitly dangerous. This becomes clearly false as they meet our third lead, a human child they call boo, shenanigans and hijinks ensue, they get boo back to the human world, get their coworker randall and boss mr. waterknot put in prison for human trafficking and they switch to green energy laughter. i find this movie far more interesting as a metaphor than as a movie to be critical about (it's another 8/10 if you want a score, i really like the score and the world but find it drags in the middle until the climax). So, their boss was secretly funding a more efficient, but far more unethical way of getting oil scream, instead of going with the even more efficient and powerful and infinite laughter, but it doesn't really seem like mr. waterknot even really knows about the laughter. Actually now that i think of it nobody knew there was an alternative until the end, so ig the boss wasn't the worst fictional capitalist i've ever seen, because at least he wasn't also suppressing the cure, he was just stupid. but who cares about his plan his shit is incidental randall is a class traitor! like straight up actually doesn't care about selling out human kids, and doesn't give a fuck about mike and sully getting banished for like 5 minutes, just so long as he gets a promotion he'll kill his lil peanut guy to get his way. it's like a really messy metaphor but it works as a compelling case for "but why not solar power tho?" y'know? like that one comic that's like "but what if we cleaned up the world for future generations for nothing" but like as a movie, why shouldn't we use green energy? even if it's nothing but better for the kids
memorable bits: uhhh the fuckin doors, that scene with mike and randall with the clock, the scene where they shave that guy, the sushi place (which blew up in the pre-9/11 cut), the fuckin monster offices in the back (need that in kh), "welcome to the himalayas", nemo in boo's room at the end, "i'd kidnap a thousand children before i'd let this company die" for some reason playing continuously in my head whenever i think of this movie, rozz the slug lady, celia, the ending tease,

I pretty much never share my playlists, so this is pretty new to me, but I've been itching to show off my pride and joy for a while now, so I thought the Horizon Base Jams would be the perfect chance!
My ship playlist for Day 1 centers around Tilda/Elisabet and Tilda/Aloy. That might be cheating a little, but I'm sure that, for Tilda, the latter is a bit of a continuation of the former, haha ^^ You might know I don't really ship Aloy with anyone, but this can be intepreted as one-sided.
Essay with my reasoning under the cut for anyone who wants it!
Piece of art - An intro to Tilda's relationship with Lis! The obsessive overtones are simply perfect. And, of course, Tilda views the world through an artistic lens, as art is her escape, the main thing that brings her comfort.
Buy the Stars - The only song from Elisabet's POV in this playlist. "You don't know me, how do you own me?" Tilda says in canon that she always felt that she didn't fully know Elisabet, that Lis knew her better than she knew Lis, and I think Lis probably felt the same way.
Left Behind - Now we're getting closer to Tilda's Far Zenith era. Lis and Tilda are running out of time due to circumstances out of their control (the Faro Plague) and end up separated by Zero Dawn and Far Zenith. Whether the "lover left behind" refers to Tilda, because she outlived Lis, or to Lis, because she stayed behind to die on Earth, I'll leave up to your interpretation.
Immortal (Reinairy) - This represents Tilda's grief over Elisabet and her inability to let go, even after a thousand years. I also like to think as the mentions of rain and sunrise and nature in general refer to Tilda longing to see a new, better world, to see "Elisabet's dream" come to fruition.
Of course, "I'll always find you again and again, and I'll lose every version of you" refers to Aloy (and perhaps Beta, if you wish to interpret it that way).
The Zombie Song - The start of Tilda's love for Aloy! It's a post-apocalyptic romance, a little gory and a bit forbidden, and, before Tilda betrays Far Zenith, she and Aloy are fighting on opposing sides. "A love this deep won't stay buried" is yet another reference to Elisabet's death.
How Dare You? - I like to imagine this one as a representation of the feelings going through Tilda's head during the scene at her mansion. Equal parts possessive, overprotective, and desperate, she's finally able to talk to Aloy in person and confess how much she has changed her outlook.
"I'll lock you in a world of my creation and bury the key" refers to how Tilda has already made her plans for the new world, as well as to take Aloy hostage for its sake. And of course, "show me how to fall in love again" is Tilda begging to feel the happiness and comfort she had only felt with Lis once again. Beta couldn't give it to her, but Aloy surely will. Right?
Power & Control - This is mostly a representation of Tilda's alliance with Aloy, but also her defiance of Far Zenith. "You can't have peace without a war," as Tilda must rebel against the Zeniths to earn the happy ending she wants with Aloy.
"You may be good-looking but you're not a piece of art," in particular, is about Beta.
Immortal (Marina) - A good closing song, because it reminds me of Tilda's apparent death. "If I could buy forever at a price, I would buy it twice" could refer either to Tilda wishing she had taken Elisabet with her in the first place, or to her wanting a relationship with Aloy like the one she had with Elisabet.
Love From the Other Side - My crowning jewel! I left it for the very end because I feel like it sums up Tilda's relationship with the Sobecks all throughout her life the best. From the loneliness that permeated her life on Earth and the way she felt out of place in Far Zenith, to the art metaphor, to Tilda's dependence on Lis, to the way they were separated by the apocalypse, to her "falling in and out of love" due to Beta failing to live up to her expectations, to her betrayal of Far Zenith, to her betrayal of Aloy and to the obsessive love that led to her demise, it's my personal favorite without a doubt.

Massive Lore Dump about the "God killers of my world"
The God-Killing man:
In the beginning of time only the externals existed, chaotic forces of nature that are in the present referred to as entities for a better understanding of them, the primal, shapeless world is a subproduct of their existence; from one of them came “the golden light” a semi-conscious manifestation of order that functioned as the cradle of the gods, “The Golden Gods” as they are known today were the first and most powerful batch of gods cradled by the light.
they gave shape to the world’s material plane and made the primal life evolve into the forests, rivers, oceans and such that form the lands, and in that process they made the original humans, but not as creations born of love and curiosity, but of greed and pride as they wanted to imitate that which came before them and its power, enslavers they were to the recently born humanity and their souls and there was nothing anyone could do, the few benevolent gods that also mated with humans although wanting to liberate them and their childs could not accomplish anything, even if they were strong enough; gods are immortal, even if their flesh is erased from existence they’ll just appear again in their now so twisted light.
But there was one, a human, not birthed from the benevolence of the few but the hatred of the many, a slave like any other…
The one who hated, the one who understood that hate and used it, a hatred so deep that their souls and its power bursted out of their flesh and bone, a desire so profound to end their light that his blood turned as black as tar, the first of the Lupo, The God-Killing man.
He led the legions of man accompanied by those birthed from the very gods, those of boiling blood, those of rock and stone, and of course, of men.
Even if the war was relentless, and no shimmer of hope for liberation they saw, as not mattering how many hearts they pierced, how many heads they cut, how many wings they plucked, they just kept raining like shooting stars from the light; when the moment came and he stood in front of the first and most powerful of gods, so high in the scale no other being in existence stood a chance… He fought.
Their battle was one that burned deep into the memories of everyone who saw it, mortals, and unfortunately for them, gods alike. It was brutal, bloody and terrifying; the god, whos skin was said to be impenetrable even by other members of the divine kept regenerating from the bestial damage done to them.
In the last moments of their battle when hope seemed lost to men, the god-killing man understood something about the world, death.
Although for a moment it embraced him, he forcefully took a hold of it and combining it with his own power of the soul he broke the body and soul of the god… A moment of silence, everyone waiting for the divine leader to fly down from the light again, but he never did, when the divine army realized this a couple seconds after the occurrence, they also understood something about the world, fear.
As you’d expect they ended up exiled from the very world they shaped, liberating humanity from them.
There's a catch tho, without the gods to control the souls of humans the negative and (for the moment less important) positive energy that they naturally emanate now was free to float through the land, because of how negative energy (Soul energy and power will from now on be referred to as Aurum) works that meant the conglomeration of it, and with that Execrations and Imprecations were born. (The group of the two types will now non lore accurately be referred to as Imprexecrations)
Beings made of evil that naturally seek to produce or commit more evil, The God-Killing man with his hatred now satiated and seeing the birth of these beings as partially his fault made a vow with his own blood to continue to use Aurum as a weapon and tool to express his soul to its limits and in the process killing Imprexecrations, and this vow being made with his tar-black blood was willingly inherited by his descendants, now named The Lupos.
And that was the story of the FIRST of TWO god killers, now into the one that is actually present in the fucking story. don’t worry I’ll be short with this one.
Ando Lupo, The Fatebreaker, The God Devourer:
Hundreds of thousands of years have passed, this is the present, we live in the second golden Era of the Lupo, and thats thanks to one woman alone, let me tell you her story.
Ando Lupo was a (In that point of her life) a young boy, who sadly had experienced the death of her Lupo father at the age of ten, who had to be separated from her beloved older brother as he for many years held the promise to kill her (fortunately resolved later in their life) and that past that held the desired to understand Aurum better, a scholar in the making.
Fortunately she knew how to fight, although not being born with the insane innate talent of her older sisters or her brother, she learned thanks to both herself being very good at self teaching, research and theory making and her sisters being incredible already-present examples.
Saving the details: When she was fifteen Andos city was attacked by an Imprexecration of the second highest level, being her, her grandpa, and first older sister the only Lupo present in the city they at first stood no chance, Ando Lupos mother (Part of the “Rock and stone people”), grandpa (Lupo) and Grandma (Lupo, but not at good shape to fight) being killed by the Imprexecration in the process.
Being so close to death psychologically in her life and through that day specially as the imprexecration stabbed her heart at one point almost killing her, she was almost not surprised when the blade of that monster went through her neck, she was fated to die at that moment, but as death embraced her, she understood something of the world.
Everyone in existence felt as the line of fate shattered that day, she rose up with her head over her shoulders and her neck now bearing a black scar as if it was filled with her blood.
That day Ando Lupo killed the Imprexecration and broke fate the first time.
(We are gonna skip over the second of three breaking of fate moment for the purpose of getting to the fucking point)
Ando Lupo at her 21 years was now facing the new strongest of the gods, which had forgotten the fear of death thanks to that overwhelming greed and pride so natural of them, although Ando Lupo wasn’t the strongest Lupo at that point in time she was the only one to be able to do it.
Through the fight she was able to explore more of the beautiful power of Aurum, but she still needed something, The new god at one point bashed her skull open with a fist; Ando Lupo, once again, was fated to die that day, but at that moment she found it, the last piece of the puzzle to finally open the gates to her masterpiece, she broke fate once again and with the power of death she continued to fight the ever-regenerating god, as he had now an immortal soul and the power of death would not function as it once did, maybe thats the reason they forgot that fear… The fear of the Lupo; How unlucky of them.
Ando Lupo revealed it, a technique of Aurum that reached pass death and the heavens, and devoured the immortality of that god, killing him soon after with her bare hands.
Ando Lupo, The Fatebreaker, the God-devourer.
She later in her life brought the second golden Era of the Lupo by sharing her findings about Aurum with her brethren and with the world, she rose as the strongest to have ever existed, she teached the young, to bring forth a generation filled with strength of body and soul.
At her 31 years she even got to liberate herself from the bindings of her body (transitioned)
and lived happily in the world of souls she gave life to.
THE END!
Thx for reading through that!. Opinions and questions are more than welcomed!

EXCERPT:
Fives and Echo were out in front of Rex and Anakin, leading the group with guns drawn. Fives was quick to notice the warrior was female; her armor was shaped to her body. She wore gleaming white enameled plate of some light metal, with pauldrons, and an ornate breastplate over a fine silver chain mail shirt that reached to her knees. Her biceps were covered by golden guards engraved in some runic language inscribed in silver. Her gauntlets were the same, with more runes detailing something they could not decider. Her breastplate was inlaid with fine jewels, the emblem of two graceful trees, one gold, one silver, with the face and head of a dragon above them, and three stars shining above all. She wore a pair of white breeches beneath the chain mail skirt, with brown patches at the inner thigh and just below the knees, and a pair of well worn brown knee high riding boots with small silver spurs. At her waist was a sword belt, holding the short sword and a stunning, ornate dagger. She had a shoulder scabbard for her great sword and over her left shoulder, a quiver of arrows, with a bow slung across her chest. The two clones stared in admiration of the beautiful armor and how the warrior was loaded for battle with weapons. Clearly she was deadly and prepared for just about anything thrown at her. Her face was half covered by a helmet that covered her temples and the sides of her face. Across her brow there were three white stones that shone like diamonds, glittering and sparkling in the light, but with a glow behind them that was ethereal, like star shine. There was a near opaque visor over her eyes, and they could make out the outline of them behind the glass. Her mouth was sensitive, with a slightly pouty lower lip that they could swear was ready for a laughing smile at any time. Neither clone needed to see anything more to know she was beautiful. Her head turned slightly to check the progress of her mount and a long, thick braid of brown hair shot through with gold and silver highlights fell over her shoulder. The highlights sparkled in the sun, much like the glitter of her armor, but it was the stones on her brow that really radiated power and light; Fives and Echo could not look directly at them without feeling blinded by their light.
The warrior was standing in a ready pose with her great sword in her right hand. As the group of clones and General Skywalker approached, she moved her weight back to her rear foot and drew her short sword in a reverse grip, raising her great sword over her head in a stance Anakin wasn’t familiar with. The clones all raised their blasters, and Captain Rex said in a flat tone, “I’d put away your swords if I were you.”
Without a sound, above them, the dragon lowered its massive head and gave a deep menacing growl towards the clones. They had forgotten it while studying the woman, and with Rex’s threat the beast decided to remind them of its looming presence. The men all looked up into teeth, and a glowing red furnace of a throat. The woman smirked a bit and said, without changing her pose “I think perhaps YOU would do better to lower your guns.”
Skywalker looked at Rex and nodded, saying “Go ahead. Lower your blasters.”
The clones holstered their guns and stepped back the smallest fraction, giving her room. The woman stood up, relaxing her posture. She put her short sword back in its sheath, then sheathed the great sword as well. She raised her visor on her helmet and Fives and Rex both gasped internally. Her eyes were gray blue, but shone with a light from within that radiated like star light. The color reminded them of the sea and sky of Kamino, and both were drawn into them like deep pools of sparkling water. Her beauty gave even General Skywalker pause, and he hesitated for a brief second before introducing himself. She beat him to the first word, resting her arms across her chest and asking “You’re their superior, I presume?”
“I’m General Anakin Skywalker of the Jedi Order and the Grand Army of the Republic. This is Captain Rex, my first in command. The man to your immediate left is Lieutenant Fives and to your right, Corporal Echo. We appreciate your help with this battle today, but I’m not sure we’ve ever heard of someone like you before….”
“Well, since we are going with impressive titles, I am Telperion Laurelin, Guardian of the Balance and Guide of Souls. I heard a cry for help in this galaxy, and I have answered the call. It’s what I do.” She gestured to the giant beast standing watchfully behind and above her. “This is Baiulus the Black Dread. He is my dragon, a friend of many ages and my greatest ally in any fight. He is rather protective of me, and not above eating those who threaten my person.” She said this with a small apologetic smile, but looked at the clones significantly in warning. “I’d hate for our first meeting to go south over a misunderstanding of intentions.” She opened her hands to show she meant no harm. “I’m here to help you in this fight. There is no need for the worry about me or B.”

STAR WARS: HYPERFORCE ALLIANCE!!
Foreword:
Alright, finally, after teasing it with the crossover fanart I did for @dreamstormdragon 's Hyperforce Reignition OC The Reaper a while back, I've finally completed part one of the duel between Jedi Knight Lunagazer Vs The Reaper!
I originally intended it to be one whole story, kind of similar in vein to a double premiere TV show episode of Star Wars: TCW, but felt it was best to split it into two parts, that and also I had to change a few things so as to not contradict Storm's Reignition AU where I could.
Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy this first chapter of what will be an ongoing series I'll post from time to time! If so, I'd appreciate feedback.
For event reference, this story occurs sometime after @dreamstormdragon 's Hyperforce Reignition Chapter 24 and just before Chapter 25, so I'd recommend checking them out either before or after reading this as a quick shout out to her, it's an amazing AU that inspired this and got me into SRMTHFG so show her some love!
Archive 1: The Moonlit Duel over the Shuggazoom Bridge!! Part 1
Lost in the unknown! During a routine patrol mission inspecting the sector leading close to the Unknown Regions, Jedi Knight JAMES LUNAGAZER and Padawan KIRA KALVERIA were suddenly attacked by a mysterious entity which sent them into a dangerous trip through Hyperspace to an uncharted galaxy beyond!
Following a daring escape from their captivity, their ship was damaged, and they were forced to crash land on a mysterious planet! Stranded with no way back and their communications disabled for the time being, the Jedi duo choose to make their way through this unfamiliar world, hoping to find help or a way to head off-world back to the Jedi Praxeum!
However, before they could reach the city, the two Jedi suddenly found two robotic monkeys under siege from a force seemingly made out of inky ooze and skeleton-like bodies, not ones to stand by while others were in danger, the two Jedi are entrenched in battle to save the monkeys and hope to find answers to their current predicament…
On the outskirts of a suspension bridge, the skirmish continued to rage as an indigo fire burned away at the gooey substance of the skeleton soldier, dissolving into a puddle as the blade quickly withdrew from out of their chest and flourished in the user's hand before moving onto the next soldier on the chopping block in a fluid motion, barely missing a beat as the young man sighed, trying to catch his breath and adjusting his glasses to ensure they didn't fall off.
“Kriff… there just doesn't seem to be an end to these… whatever the heck, these guys are called!"
But before he could process any further, another voice cut through his thoughts, this one feminine, but sounded much younger around early teens, she wore Jedi robes similar to him, except unlike the young man's blue with white trims, they were green with yellowish gold patterns, accented by two shoulder pads.
The girl's eyes shone emerald contrasting the man's azure eyes, these pairs were brimming with high energy and mischief above her freckles as she spoke out.
“Getting outta shape already big bro? Come on! You need to be loud and full of more stylish stamina like me!”
As the cheeky quip was given, a pair of emerald blades forming a long-staff at each end slashed up another skull-faced soldier, sending some of its bones flying along with the inky substance and landing right on the young man’s head.
“Hey! Watch it, Kira! You’re being too reckless! It wouldn't kill you to exercise civilised manners along with caution.”
As the young man chided Kira, he noticed a soldier trying to strike from behind, so he quickly outstretched his left hand, and with an unseen psychic power, pulled her out harm’s way before cutting down the threat with a throw of his cross guarded two handed hilt lightsaber.
Soon after he retrieved the hilt with the force as the weapon shut down, then placing it back on his belt, he turned to address Kira.
“Much like just now, but at least there seems to be a lull in that army’s attack, I’d take this chance to rest or heal with a bacta stim, but stay on guard.”
“Yeah, yeah, Big Bro…I get it… Still, thanks for the save, James. I seriously appreciate that, I’ll work on my rear guard.”
At this, the older Jedi couldn't help but crack a comforting smile as he’d finished healing his minor injuries, he knew Kira’s heart was always in the right place, (save for a few of her mischievous antics.)
“I know you will Kira, and there will certainly be a few more opportunities if we can fix our ship and figure out what planet we’re on or contact the Jedi Academy for help… and possibly even have some spare robes, as I think these ones have been through the smoke or rather… the ink of it!”
Despite his rather dry and obviously bad attempt at puns, Lunagazer wasn't exactly wrong, his bluish-grey jedi robes had taken the worst of it, with worn scratches in the fabric coming close to tearing, not counting the soot and ink splotches gained from the messy fighting, but it was better than the worst case scenario.
Kira on the other hand wasn't too bothered by her contrasting green robes getting dirty, as she’d often come back from training or playing with other Jedi padawans or younglings dirty from rough activities, it was part of her adventurous nature, but she simply just rolled her eyes at James’ poor attempt at humour.
“And this is why you’re never gonna win at any stand-up comedy acts or outdo my own brand of snark, you’re practically like a Kenobi without a high ground of civilised humour!”
James frowned a little at that comparison, but soon turned his attention back to healing, and making sure that no civilians were caught in the crossfire, even though they weren't from this planet, they still had a duty as Jedi to help those in need, and as Grand Master Skywalker urged, get to know the people and cultures of those worlds they helped.
(Though right now in this case, it’s more us that need the help of the people of this world, given the ship isn't exactly in the best of flying moods right now… Huh, it seems like one of those monkey looking droids is walking over to us, maybe they can help us out of this particular dilemma.)
He then turned his attention to a pair of robotic-looking Monkeys, one was red with black eyes, and seemed to be using magnets to attack with, while the other was green with two buzz-saws for weapons, James and Kira had saw them battling those monsters and seeing them in trouble, they decided to intervene and saved them, although the red monkey didn't seem very appreciative, he couldn't deny they had saved him and his companion.
“So then mister-strange boy and girl with the laser-swords, what exactly are you supposed to be? And why did you step in? Because if you’re with the bag of bones and looking to back-stab us… we won't go easy.”
At this, the red monkey, eyeing them with suspicion drew his magnets preparing to fight, however James then quickly raised his hands in the air, signalling that he did not wish to fight, and motioned Kira to do the same, however before any further action could be taken the green monkey spoke.
“Hey, Hey Sparx, I don't think these guys mean to harm us, I mean if they were wouldn't they have attacked civilians alongside the formless like that one Reaper nut job? Besides I think they were cool kicking those formless butt with those weapons! And anyone who saves us surely must be a friend! By the way… Where did you two get those!? Can you show me how to make one of those so I can upgrade my buzz-saws!?”
At this, James felt taken aback by the green monkey’s sudden chippery barrage of questions about the lightsaber, he was even practically having his hand shaken about so much he thought his arm was going to melt into jelly!
“Wh-Whoaaaaaaa– slooooooow dooooooown there a minuteeeeee!! One question at a time, and You’re gonna pull off my armmmmmm–!”
Kira on the other hand was feeling very, very flattered, she was practically blushing so much her freckles were lighting up as she brought her hands up to her cheeks giggling with glee and bouncing about, all the while, Sparx was staring dumb founded at what the situation was turning into.
“Awww~ Please! No need to compliment me! I was just kicking butt, doing my best to help save you two and the civilians! Plus, I think you're a cutie and a giant sweetheart, little green monkey!”
“Otto… I swear… sometimes I worry that your inability to read the mood as soon as anything mechanical comes up makes you less cautious around strange…rs…”
Suddenly everyone stopped what they were doing, (much to the relief of James’ arm!), both humans and monkeys staring blankly in confusion at each other for a brief moment before…
“AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! YOU TWO CAN TALK/UNDERSTAND US!?!?”
The whole thing quickly escalated into a barrage of confused screams and questions, as both parties were failing to communicate actual sentences, eventually James stood up, raising his voice as loud as he could.
“EVERYONE BE QUIEEEEEEEEEEET!!”
At this, the voices died down, startled by James’ sudden shout causing him to immediately blush sheepishly, but quickly coughed to clear his throat before addressing the situation.
“Sorry about that, but let's try to be rational about this. First off I should ask, who are you two monkeys? What is this planet? And just what were those guys attacking you back there?”
“R-Right… well, you DID save our butts, so I suppose I can let you in, my model number's SPRX-77, but I'd prefer to be called “Sparx” thanks, this green buddy of mine's called Otto, we are the members of a group the “Hyperforce” that fights bad guys we call the formless, mindless drones serving the dark entity that threatens all of Shuggazoom that's our world by the way, the vile and cruel Skeleton King, there's five of us robot monkeys, but we've got a kid who's our leader and fights in the same manner as you two, minus the laser-swords and telekinetic psychic powers via the Power Primate, now what about you?”
Kira was quick to pipe in before James could get a sentence out, dashing over to Sparx with bright stars in her eyes eagerly staring into his soul.
“Hyperforce!? What an awesome name! Is it like hyperspace where you travel to other worlds and help those in trouble!? Could we sign up to fight with you!?! I mean we practically wiped the floor with those formless blobs, so I'd say we're capable!!”
“Kira! Don't get ahead of yourself! Besides… we have other responsibilities to all parts of the galaxy we're from, we can't just abandon it to interfere with what others can handle.”
Upon hearing this, Kira moved back, deflating at practically being shot down immediately, but she knew James was right.
“Sorry about her, she's my apprentice, but unlike most other Jedi who wish to safeguard peace and justice in our galaxy, she craves action and excitement… not that it matters as trouble often seems to find us, my name is Jedi Knight James Lunagazer, Kira and I were travelling the galaxy on the edge of the Unknown Regions when we were suddenly attacked by a mysterious entity and we were sent through Hyperspace and ended up crash landing here.
“Wait… Hyperspace? You have hyperspace too!? And wait… Jedi!? Like those wizards wielding laser swords from those Star Wars movies that Chiro told us about!? You mean you’re actually the real deal and not made-up?!?”
Otto butted in so suddenly that the confusion was barely registerable to James and Kira at first, before Sparx quickly stepped in pulling Otto back a bit.
“Slow down there, Otto, you’re getting ahead of things.”
“Wait… movies!? That’s… hold up, what’s a movie?”
James sweatdropped at Kira, and then quickly summed up for her what a movie was, unlike in Shuggazoom their galaxy had different terms, such as holograms or the holo-net, but they seemed to be similar in concept from what James gathered.
“So then… those stories actually happened… and Shuggazoom is actually connected with your galaxy via this “Unknown Regions” section of your space, maaaaan… Chiro would prolly lose his mind if he were hearing this right now! But moreover, how is it that you two can understand and speak to us without the need of a translator?”
Kira and James looked over at each other, puzzled by Sparx's question before Kira came up with a possible answer, well, as probable of an answer she could come up with.
“I guess… it must be our power of the force granting us some-kinda telepathy helping us to gather your words based on your emotions, but to be honest… I'm not really sure of it myself if I'm being honest… it almost feels like… it's got some kinda connection with you monkeys, maybe much like how some force users could communicate with animals and their minds, perhaps something similar is happening thanks to this… Power Primate thingy you've mentioned.”
Now Otto and Sparx were even more curious, but before they could continue the discussion any further, the two Jedi suddenly sensed a disturbance in the force glancing over at each other before turning to Sparx and Otto again.
“Something's coming… we'd best prepare for battle!”
Sparx looked baffled by James’ sudden response, before remembering what Chiro had shown him and the Monkeys, he decided to trust his gut instinct and readied himself, however James and Kira suddenly felt overcome with a shiver…
(What…what is this feeling…? It feels so… oppressive, full of suffering, hatred, malice and…)
“Fear…”
As the thoughts spilled over into words, a dark figure appeared before the Jedi/Monkey duo's eyes, the man had jet-black colours, skeleton ribs covering his chest looking very similar to the formless but had purple gems to break the pattern, including long flowing purple hair, that once the wind picked up, almost seemed to whip about like a sharp tail, poised to spear its prey.
Sparx and Otto tensed up at the sight, horrified as they knew exactly who this mysterious man was, they knew they couldn't take him on alone by themselves even with the help of these two Jedi as while they did do well against the formless, that wasn't exactly a good measurement of their strength, they needed the whole team, NOW, and so Otto immediately sent out an emergency transmission to HQ.
“Jedi-Kids… get outta here. This Reaper guy's one opponent we can't fight against by ourselves, trust me, we've fought him before… it nearly ended horribly, right now we hatta to survive until back-up arrives to force him to retreat!”
Neither James or Kira had responded to Sparx's command at first, they were paralysed with overwhelming dread at such a presence.
“Hm, so you're the two psychic-laser sword wielding warriors Sensei told me about, must say… I was expecting two powerful warriors, but I didn't expect a mere four-eyes boy dressed in blue, nor a green pipsqueak who's barely even a refined fighter swinging those blades as if they were flailing baseball bats, just pathetic! Even more than those monkeys who couldn't even put up a fight against me!”
James recovered, narrowing his eyes, ignoring the insult but deep down he was fighting the urge to charge in and rip the dark figure's mask off for insulting both him and Kira along with the monkeys, but he understood that given he and his apprentice were unfamiliar with the Reaper, it would be foolish to blindly attack head-on, Kira however… completely fell for the taunt.
“PATHETIC!?! Why you little–!! YOU'RE JUST SOME DARK SAVAGE WHO THINKS HE'S ABOVE EVERYTHING! And for insulting these monkeys… I'M GONNA RIP YOU TO SHREDS!!!!”
With that, she recklessly charged forward! Throwing all sense of caution to the wind and blinded by her wounded pride at being called a pipsqueak, she swung fast, her emerald blades ready to strike and end the threat in a single blow!
“Wait! KIRA NO! COME BACK!/STOP KID!!!”
James and Sparx both shouted out warnings but it was too late! The dark figure simply side-stepped the attack as if he were a fleeting shadow, catching Kira off-balance, he then sent a blinding punch to her gut, forcing her into the air as she screamed in pain landing hard on the concrete falling into a dazed state.
(S-So fast…!! he countered her speed as if she were a slow Bantha…! Sparx is right… This man is not to be underestimated… but… I sense that he's not here for the monkeys… It's me and Kira, so then even though I'm certain I can't beat him straight, I'll act as bait to give Otto and Sparx time to help Kira and hopefully escape, I won’t let her end up like her father!!)
“As demonstrated on your apprentice four-eyes boy, my powers of the skull are nothing compared to your wizardry tricks, now… back down and surrender quietly, otherwise it will be nothing but a boring one-sided thrashing, much like with those monkeys and their precious chosen one.”
The Reaper spoke with such cockiness, that it made Otto hiss with fury as he hurried over to Kira, meanwhile while James’ blood was boiling, especially after the Reaper hurt his sister, but he remained steadfast and calm issuing a challenge to this figure bravely.
“Sparx, get Kira away from here, I'll handle this.”
“WHAT!? Kiddo! Did you not hear what I just said!? YOU CAN'T TAKE HIM! Didn't you see him pummell your apprentice!? What chance have you got alone!?”
“You're right… I likely don't have a chance… but I can sense that he doesn't want you or Otto, he wants me, so even though the odds are stacked against me… I will do what I must so you can get Kira away, I don't want to lose her like I did her father!”
Sparx and Otto blinked, confused for a second by what James had meant, but seeing the resolve in his eyes, Sparx reluctantly relented, realising he wasn't going to take no for an answer.
“Very well… BUT. Promise you’ll survive for her. I don't wanna have to be delivering awful news when she wakes up, and the Hyperforce will come through, I swear it.”
James nodded grimly, turning his attention back to the Reaper before igniting his crossguard saber and positioning himself in form IV Ataru stance, hands gripping tightly around the burning Indigo hilt as he responded back to Sparx who went on over to Kira.
“Don’t worry… I don't plan on dying that easily without so much as a hard fight...”
Seeing that James wasn't going to back away the Reaper let out a disappointed sigh, and then drew out his scythe, its purple hue blade shining like a crescent moon, he readied his stance and then the two warriors, dashing forwards at blinding speed clashed, or rather…
James was more trying to play defensively as he had never fought a scythe wielding opponent before, so the range threw him completely for a loop, and he had no choice but to execute several dodge tactics instead of intercepting with his blade!
“Is this all you've got? You disappoint me, Four-eyes, Sensei seems to hold your potential in such high esteem. Perhaps he was mistaken?”
James grunted and tried to land another blow with a strong thrust, but it was immediately repelled when the Reaper's scythe knocked his lightsaber out of his hand, leaving him temporarily defenceless!!
(Kriff!! Not good…!)
“Hmph, just as calculated, I'll spare your misery and end it now boy.”
“Oh I wouldn't be so cocky about that… skull-faced scum.”
Thinking quick on his feet, James slid out with a burst of force speed, ducking under the scythe as he followed the motion up with a major force push, sending the Reaper flying off-balance and disorienting him long enough for him to retrieve his saber and continue the duel.
“Care to re-evaluate your opinion of me now?”
“Hmph… not bad for a four-eyed brat… but your insults could use more refinement.”
“And perhaps you should quit wasting your breath trying to be almighty with a lack of spine for concealing your face!”
This for a flickering instant, seemed to make the Reaper slightly scowl, even though James couldn't see it behind the mask, his force sensing abilities made that more than clear.
(Looks like I struck a sore nerve with words there… now if only I could do the same physically with this guy…)
With that, the fighting resumed with occasional clashing sounds echoing around the bridge as they zipped around in blurs so fast the average eye could barely keep track of.
Meanwhile, far on the outskirts of Shuggazoom, four figures, one a regular human boy aged around 14 wearing white with an orange scarf, and three other robot monkeys similar to Sparx and Otto were hurrying to the bridge where they had lost contact with them prior.
“So… you guys really believe there’s a boy and girl with laser-swords helping Sparx and Otto fend off the formless and the Reaper?”
The question came from the yellow monkey, whose voice was feminine but tough, with her fists being all she needed to do the talking on the battlefield.
“Honestly, I still can't wrap my head around it scientifically, I mean… Otto has come up with even more ridiculous things before, but this… I just can't believe it, what are the odds of there being an actual Jedi from this Star Wars movie being real?”
As the blue monkey continued to speculate, the boy was looking over to the black monkey who, throughout the whole trip, seemed to be lost in thought.
“Anaturi? Something the matter? You haven't said a word for a while now.”
“My apologies Chiro, I was lost within my thoughts, I sensed something in the Power Primate that felt familiar… but I can't seem to understand why, I suspect it may have something to do with our unexpected quests Sparx and Otto spoke of, at any rate we cannot afford to theorise right now, our teammates are waiting for us.”
On that, Chiro, and the other two monkeys nodded vigorously in agreement and sped up their pace, hoping to near the battle sooner rather than later.
“Yeah, and hopefully… we’ll get some payback on that Reaper-Jerkface for wiping the floor with us!”
Back at the suspension bridge, James was in the process of attempting to use a series of nearby debris from the battle and launching them like a missiles, hoping to delay the Reaper or knock the scythe out of his grasp, but the Reaper simply cut through the objects as if it were mere butter to a hot knife.
By this point the battle had moved away from the incapacitated Kira and the Monkeys over to the middle portion of the bridge, with the Reaper pushing James on the backfoot the whole time, as his scythe left several trails of cracked concrete underneath, with Lunagazer's lightsaber being unable to connect a solid hit other than the occasional sparking tap emitted via contact with the scythe.
At one point James barely blocked a strong blow and was sent flying back, quickly he dug his lightsaber into the pavement, slowing his reverse motion and leaving a trail of molten ash in the ground as he struggled to catch his breath.
(Urgh…! That long ranged weapon is just too wide in reach for me to safely close the distance! If it weren't for my long hilt and dual-phased blade extending the length, I'd be headless now…! I need to separate him from the scythe, but how–)
Meanwhile Sparx was keeping watch, becoming agitated as Otto was working on trying to awaken Kira and treat her injury as with the way the Reaper sent her flying it had fractured her right arm when she hit the ground hard.
“The fight’s going nowhere fast for that Kid… I’d better get up there and intervene!”
“Wait Sparx! You can't just leave me and the girl! Formless might attack while she’s still unconscious and I might not be able to respond fast enough with treating her wound! Have a bit more faith in that guy, he might pull through somehow.”
At this, Sparx begrudgingly relented as Kira slowly began to regain some of her awareness as her vision refocused onto Otto's concerned face, which slowly melted into relief but still cautious in case the Reaper were to summon reinforcements to attack them while James was busy.
“Mmrrgh… wh-wha…? What happened…? OWWWW!! M-My arm!! It feels all shattered and crooked!”
Otto quickly stopped Kira, carefully pulling her up slowly as he made sure not to worsen her injury, all the while wincing at her sudden loud shriek of pain.
“Whoa, whoa… easy there sweet-heart, you've fractured your arm upon impact with the hard ground, I've managed to somewhat treat it with first aid, but it's no Gibson's medical magic, you'll have to let him treat it properly when we get outta this, so no moving that arm.”
“I-I see… Thank you mister uh… Sparx? Was it?”
Otto gave a soft look, understanding that given she’d just regained consciousness, her head wouldn't be at 100% yet, all while Sparx gave an annoyed look at being mistaken for Otto.
“Otto, Now then, let’s help you outta here! Your Brother’s busy holding off the jerk who knocked you down for us, we'll get him out afterwards.”
At this, Kira’s face went pale, and she attempted to rush over to help, only for a hand to grab her arm as her eyes met Sparx's face.
“Hey! What are you thinking!? DON'T be an idiot! You’ve just fractured one of your arms! If you go over there charging head-first like before, you’ll only be hurting yourself and your brother more!”
Sparx roared as he held Kira back the best he could. However, Kira was too stubborn and eventually broke free of Sparx's grasp, dashing head-long towards her brother!
“Ugh!! Otto, Let’s hurry before she gets herself–”
But before he could finish his sentence, Sparx was struck from behind by more formless, which Otto promptly cut down soon after.
“Let’s quickly get rid of these guys Sparx!”
Standing back to back, the two monkeys got to work mowing down the herd, hoping that they would stop Kira in time!
(Chiro… Anaturi… WHERE IN SHUGGAZOOM ARE YOU GUYS AT!?)
Back with Lunagazer whilst he was struggling to strategise, he had to quickly duck and slash to avoid yet another deadly swing, however this time it was a blade of purple energy that cut through the air and cracked one of the suspension bridge pillars, much to Lunagazer's shock and awe!
(H-How…!? How is he able to summon ranged attacks of that magnitude!? Could it be Nightsister Magick? No… it's too powerful for that, this is something else entirely… if I had been a few inches closer, that would have seriously injured me more than that pillar…!)
Suddenly as rubble started falling to the ground from the pillar straining to stay upright from the attack an idea struck James’ head!
(Well, it's risky… And I'd be draining a lot of my spiritual stamina with that power since I haven't perfected its stability in long range, but if I use it in small bursts at the right time, I could close in and finish it with this gambit!)
“Hmph, just as I thought, just a one-sided thrashing like all the rest, you should have given up and turned tail while you still could, four-eyes boy, now it's the end for you!”
As the Reaper let out a dash of speed, James simply outstretched his hand, giving himself over to the force as he moved, he gathered every single molecule of air and quickly transformed them into sparks that eventually turned to a small ball of fire before launching the projectile with all his might, this momentarily caught the Reaper by surprise as he had to stop and defend mid attack, only for the fireball to dissipate halfway.
“Kriff! It failed to hit… in that case… try out some more of this Skull Mask!!”
As the fight continued, Kira slowly started to get closer to the duel, but more formless appeared blocking her path forward, hissing and growling she reignited her saber staff but only using one end due to injured right and skated around as if it were a ice ballerina show cutting down as many as she could, all while being careful.
“Come on… GET OUTTA OF MY WAY!!”
Eventually, James managed to back the Reaper near a pillar, but it had cost much of his spiritual stamina, and the fight still didn't seem to be going anywhere as the Reaper remained unscathed, save for his cape which had been scorched by the Pyro-Kinesis.
“Ha! Was that all? Just a bunch of fireballs? You really are noth–”
“Heh… did you really think that I was particularly just aiming for you alone?”
At James’ sudden odd smirk, the Reaper looked confused for a brief moment before looking up too little too late.
“NRGH!!”
In the middle of all that gloating the Reaper didn't realise those fireballs were driving him backwards with one of them striking the very pillar that was cracked, and now he was in the right place for rubble to fall on top of him!
Seizing this opportunity, James swung with the speed and fury of Ataru-style combat, as the Reaper tried to bring the scythe down on him, a blinding gold flash erupted blocking the blow and allowing Lunagazer to launch an almighty kick to his arm knocking out of the scythe from the Reaper's grasp, and in that same motion everything seemed to slow–!!!
“Your cocky attitude betrays you so badly, it’s almost pitiful, you assumed you’d win before we started, but in reality you're nothing but a poor excuse of a death god who uses condescending remarks to hide his insecurities, much like your mask… which I will shatter no matter what it takes!”
At this, Lunagazer swung his indigo blade in a blinding slash and struck the Reaper’s mask, unfortunately whilst it didn't land a fatal strike as the Reaper had ducked back, but it did make a noticeable crack in it.
However, in that same instant Reaper felt his left shoulder burn in a similar slashing sensation before James jumped away, the Reaper stumbled backwards, disoriented and shocked at having allowed himself to fall for James’ plan and being wounded for the very first time by someone that wasn't his Sensei or Skeleton King.
However, upon refocusing his vision, he soon noticed that James’ Lightsaber wasn't a Crossguard anymore, in fact… he was now wielding two blades!
One was the same Indigo colour as his main blade, and the other was a bright orange-yellow, he soon realised in being distracted by the falling rubble, it had given James the opening he needed to safely separate his lightsaber into dual-wield mode to both block and remove the scythe leaving the Reaper wide open to attack.
(D-Damn…!! I’ve completely underestimated this boy’s prowess for spontaneous improvised planning. He might actually prove to be more of a dangerous adversary than Hanamura if I don't take him seriously now… well… since he’s revealed his hidden weapon, I might as well reveal my own…)
Over on the far side, Otto and Sparx finally managed to deal with their formless horde and were rushing over to help Kira, through their ranged binoculars they saw James land those two hits on the Reaper and were amazed and shocked at the sight, Sparx the most in disbelief.
“Holy Shuggazoom above! Th-The blue Jedi Kid… managed to wound the Reaper creep?!? The same skull masked creep that we couldn't land any hits against last time!?”
“And his weapon can become two blades!? Looks like we might have a shot at beating the guy with that Lunagazer around! Now let’s help his sis Sparx!”
With their morale soaring high, they forgot their exhaustion and renewed their efforts to aid Kira, charging up their most powerful attacks!
“MAGNO-TINGLER BLAST!!”
“WHIRLING DESTRUCTO SAWS!!”
James brought one of his sabers to the Reaper’s chin, hoping to force him to surrender, unaware of the trap he was walking into.
“It's the end of the line for you, Reaper, surrender, and I'll honour it by sparing your life, I don't wish for things to escalate to the last resort.”
“How hypocritical… to think you have the advantage over me… you forget that when you corner a Reaper, you force it to fight with everything it has, and clearly you Jedi are so preachy about peace, it makes you unwise to lower your defences!”
Everything happened at once. Before James could get another word in, he suddenly sensed dangerous intent and quickly raised his sabers to guard!
“NRGH!!!”
But it wasn't fast enough, as he attempted to block, he felt something sharp cut into his left side as it pushed him backwards, blood began to form at where he was sliced stained dark-red against his pale blue uniform, thankfully the wound wasn't deep, but it still winded James who looked up at the Reaper, eyes widening in shock at what caused his wound.
“Wh-What the–!? You can't be–!!”
The Reaper stood up again, readying a stance as a purple crescent blade revealed itself, but not as a scythe…
“Surprised? You aren't the only one who specialises in the art of the sword, nor in the way of revealing a hidden weapon, Jedi.”
The Reaper's sword shone in his hands with a faint purple glow, almost mimicking Lunagazer's lightsabers but it was more serrated at the back of the blade, with the hilt looking almost spinal cord like, the two gazed at each other, sizing the other up as both sidestepped around, but James faltered a bit due to his wound but he didn't want to give in, not yet.
(So that's how it is… I walked right into that trap, with the way he inflicted that wound, Reaper's clearly more skilled at swordship than I am… if it weren't for that warning through the force nor had I not blocked or moved away a second slower, I’d be dead by now… but I can't afford to fall here!!)
With that, James quickly force pushed the Reaper backwards, allowing himself space to quickly treat his wound behind a support pillar, however there was a major problem.
(Damn… I'm running low on bacta stims! Seems I have no other choice but to use force heal… as much as I’ve forfeited my use of it since… then. I can't afford to fall here not until Sparx's friends arrive… and Kira’s safe…)
With that, James concentrated and a faint blue glow formed around his hand, slowly sealing his wound, wincing in pain as the skin slowly regenerated, for a brief moment however he began to see horrible images of the event caused him to leave the path of a healer out of trauma, but he did his hardest to block it out, shutting his eyes and refocusing.
(Come on, Lunagazer, this isn't like Kira’s Dad… Your wound isn't impossible to treat with this, plus you have to stay alert in the moment or you’re dead!)
As James was psyching himself through his troubled thoughts, the Reaper was continuing to search for him, now resorting to threats.
“Where did all your confidence go, Jedi? Are you that much of a coward that you’d abandon your sister to treat a minor wound? If so… then she can be next to die.”
At this once his wound was closed, James made his move! Recovering what little spiritual strength he could, he summoned it into his legs, and jumped high, coming down fast like a charging bullet as the Reaper focused on the wind direction and turned to strike at James as he came down!!
“NEVER! If it comes down to it, I’ll finish you before you lay your kriffing hands on her!!”
Snarling war-cries at each other, the two warriors entered the next phase of their fight, all the while… a figure similar in shape to Sparx and Otto stood far out high on top of the bridge out of sight, observing the Reaper and James in particular closely, their orange fur standing on end in twisted amusement and delight…
“Kehehe… yesssss… that blue-eyed boy is clearly the one… the emergence in the Power Primate I have not felt in a long time… not since that one old Jedi came to the Mystic Verons many years before! Ho-hoh! I have certainly got to get my hands on his power of the force! Then I could use him to overthrow Skeleton King and re-take my rightful place as leader!!”
With that… an ominous laugh filled the air as it reached the night sky, with the sounds of lightsaber on sword clashing choking the atmosphere in-between as Kira felt the disturbance in the force as she made haste to the duel.
“Big bro… I-I have to hurry…! You’re in grave danger!!!”

Where do you think all might and deku’s relationship will proceed from ch 326 onwards?
@dadmight-and-deku-lover Oh man, that is a billion dollar question for me, and I know there’s been discourse and meta recently on whether All Might and Izuku have evolved beyond mentor and successor roles. Because we are near the end of the story, I’m going to work backward, rather than forward: I think we will get a satisfying ending with Izuku, All Might, and Tenko alive and together in some form. (Horikoshi loves these goobers.) Shigaraki is Izuku’s villain to save, and I have a feeling All Might will apologize to Tenko as part of — or maybe just after — the save effort. All Might wasn’t there to save Tenko earlier because he rigidly followed his own mentor, Nana, and he’s been kicking himself since. We also know Izuku, All Might, and Tenko are going to be critical in destroying AFO in the vestige plane. Horikoshi’s emphasized in like 5 chapters that All Might is THISCLOSE to being able to tap into his vestige. (Oh, and Star’s arc had heavy references to the Two Heroes movie, which is the only time Izuku and All Might fight side by side.) As a result, I am certain Izuku and All Might will come together at some point in this battle. We WILL get there….but right now Izuku is zooming to UA, and All Might is in/near Central Hospital at the police command center. They’re apart. Sure, we had the reunion in Ch. 327, but it was weird and stilted. It feels like something is off between All Might and Izuku, and we aren’t sure if there’s enough time to fix it. Given where we are in the story, I think their distance is meant to add angst to the finale. However, I see some really positive signs! Despite their separation, All Might and Izuku are aligned on their goals, they fully believe the other can reach those goals, and they’re communicating as much as they ever have. They are going to reunite and it’s going to be okay. Here’s why:
All Might’s last conversation directly with Izuku (that we know of — there could be flashbacks coming) had Izuku apologizing for being a frightened teenager. Likewise, All Might apologized for being of “so little help” (meaning his inability to talk to Izuku and say the words he knew he needed to say). Nothing deep there, especially with half the class watching. But then they agreed to work together going forward — a shared promise with Class President Iida — and that’s exactly what’s happening. All Might worked with Aizawa, Tsukauchi, 1A, 1B, and the pros to create the battle plans….and he put Bakugo by Izuku’s side. Moreover, they worked with Shinso and Aoyama to pull off the initial surprise attack on AFO, and it worked. To think about it another way, Izuku wanted to reach out a hand and help Aoyama be a hero. All Might and Aizawa supported him in making it happen, and narratively they were rewarded with a win.
Unlike the war arc and the villain hunt arc, All Might and Izuku can communicate with each other in this fight. We found out in 353 that All Might knew Izuku was diverted with Toga, but was now on his way to UA. And All Might is the one announcing status updates to the group, so Izuku is hearing All Might in his ear. I’m sure the villains will cut off comms at some point, but it’s notable that as of right now they’re communicating during a battle, because that hasn’t happened since…USJ?
There is also a deep trust underlying the fact that they’re not physically together. To go forward in time for a second, remember when All Might wanted Izuku to have an “I am here” moment? Then, after the Sports Festival, he dropped that and wanted to help the kid be the best hero possible? And then, after the war, it became “I’m going with you, whether you like it or not!” because All Might was scared for Izuku? Well, now All Might trusts Izuku and 1A — Izuku knows the battle plans and he has his quirks and powerful friends by his side. Moreover, All Might understands Izuku doesn’t need or want All Might to put himself in danger, but Izuku does need All Might’s leadership on the heroes’ side. In 327, when All Might talks about how his body limits his ability, Izuku just cuts him off because he doesn’t need All Might to justify or explain that he can’t physically fight. Everyone playing their part and doing what they can is the important thing, and All Might is all in. I’m sure All Might’s safety will be challenged eventually, but at the moment he and Izuku trust the other is as safe as they can be while both are doing their best to stop AFO.
That brings me to the meta point: MHA is not, and has never been, about duos. Duos tend to be claustrophobic echo chambers. For example, Izuku needed more than Inko to make his dreams come true; he needed All Might. Bakugo and Izuku needed All Might to help them contextualize their relationship. All Might needed more than Izuku to learn to live without OFA — he needed adults like Inko, Aizawa, and Stain. He needed to see 1A fight for Izuku to know his boy didn’t need the former Symbol training or guiding him any more. The same is true right now for Hawks; he needs more than Endeavor, he needs the thoughtful seriousness and steady loyalty that Tokoyami brings to the table.
All Might and Izuku still very much need each other, but not the way they once did. They now need other people too, and that’s okay. I don’t see this as incompatible with Dadmight at all. Quite the opposite, actually. It’s a sign that their 2+ year relationship is maturing to one of adult parent and ADULT child. Full disclosure: I think I’m biased to see this because I’m a parent of teenagers myself. It’s a strange transition, wanting to hold your child close and keep them to yourself, but needing to let them go off into a big (sometimes scary!) world. Knowing that their friends are more important than you in their daily life when a year ago you were their everything. Hearing them say “buzz off” when you’re pretty sure they’re hurting and you’d give anything to help. You play your part, stepping back and guiding them when they ask, or stepping in when they are obviously drowning (this is where All Might flubbed, IMO), but all you can do is keep an open line of communication in the meantime. It’s a natural process that’s necessary for a teen, and the separation doesn’t indicate that either person loves the other any less.
So, where do our boys go from 326/327? I think, once we are through this final battle and we have Tenko in the mix, we’ll see Izuku and All Might reuniting, but their relationship will be different. Izuku no longer needs All Might to teach him the hero basics, but he’ll need the man to cheer him on and create a safe space for a chat. All Might will be proud of his boy and need to be there for him, even long after All Might is living for reasons other than raising Izuku right.
