Another Character Sheet of Knil!
Her, before all the craziness happened in her life and she got weird markings on her face and anger management issues.
I had a lot of fun pulling from other Majora's Mask characters to create her design!

In the dimly lit bar, the air hung heavy with the mingling scents of alcohol and cigarette smoke. The low murmur of conversations ebbed and flowed like a distant tide, punctuated by the clinking of glasses and the occasional burst of laughter.
Amidst the crowd, a lone figure slumped on a barstool, his shoulders hunched and his gaze vacant. Scaramouche, drinking away his problems with his tousled hair and bloodshot eyes, nursed his whiskey with a grim determination. Each sip burned like fire as it traveled down his throat, yet he welcomed the sensation, craving its numbing embrace.
"Stupid stupid stupid..." He slammed his shot glass, scaramouche was never a heavy drinker even though he was surprised at how much alcohol he had consumed. He began to replay memories in his mind mostly memories with y/n, he didn't know if it was the alcohol making him think these but he felt himself losing it in this self-pity party he made for himself
As the night wore on, Scara's movements became increasingly unsteady, his speech slurred and disjointed. He waved off concerned looks from the bartender and fellow patrons with his signature scowl, insisting that he was fine, that he could handle his liquor. But the truth was evident in the glassy emptiness of his eyes, betraying a soul drowning in sorrow and regret.
With each drink, Scaramouche sought solace in the swirling depths of alcohol, hoping to drown out the memories that haunted him, if only for a fleeting moment. "This isn't working" he muttered to himself standing up to use the bathroom before driving around to clear his thoughts, he wasn't sure himself.
As Scaramouche made his way through the crowded bar, his mind consumed by the urgent need to find the bathroom and leave, he suddenly collided with someone, nearly spilling the drink the other person had in the process. Looking up, he froze in disbelief as he found himself face to face with the reason why he was there in the first place
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise before a cold mask of indifference settled over their features. "Scaramouche," they said, their voice tinged with a hint of annoyance.
"Y/n..," he replied, his voice catching in his throat. Memories of their tumultuous relationship flooded his mind, and he struggled to find the right words to say.

Absolutely gobsmacked by the way s2 finale of Link Click humanizes Lu Guang and shatters the 'ice prince' archetype in one fell swoop. Granted, I started Link Click when both seasons were completed so I do not have the more prolonged watching journey as other fans but it just is so interesting to me. Lu Guang for most of the show is so aloof and so unflappable, capable if not seemingly OPed in that his powers have little drawbacks or places to mess up like CXS'. The classic ice prince. Intriguing but altogether an enigma more than a man, dare I say more an archetype than a person.
Cheng Xiaoshi's motivations, tender heartaches, and contraries are revealed plainly in the story. You knew what he wants as a character, why, what would scare him, what would anger him, what mistakes he would make, etc. etc. Lu Guang was such a contrast. He seemed so untouchable. Not shaken by anything. Even when he was stabbed (and rightly shocked by it lol), he was so quickly accepting of it.
Then S2 finale rolls around and SUDDENLY. He is so painfully human. He's in denial. He's terrified. He's grieving. He's selfish. He's desperate. He's isolated. He's so full of love. He is a sobbing wreck and we know that it is true even if we never fully see it (except in those high-res nano-second shots which are such UTTER BRILLIANCE on the art director's part). He is so scared of losing someone he loves that he will do anything to never have it become true, despite being ultimately so powerless to actually have any say in it. We might not all have Cheng Xiaoshi's impulsiveness or sorrows or determination, but how many of us do not have Lu Guang's fear?
Just...the utter genius of making Lu Guang from the ice prince archetype to the most human and relatable character in Link Click in just the last 90 seconds of S2.

Link Click Musical lyrics translation ✨🎶
@chocolatexiaoshi brought to my attention that Qiao Ling's actress, Cai Lu, posted a video from rehearsal where she's singing a part of QL's solo song that doesn't appear in the encore, only in main plot (rare!). Here's the video:
And by courtesy of chocolatexiaoshi, here's the full translation (plot context below the lyrics) 🙏🌟
M11 尼克和马修 'Nick and Matthew' sung by Qiao Ling
七岁那年遇见一个倒霉朋友 When I was seven years old, I met an unlucky friend. 我的笑料都来自他出丑 I get all my laughs when he makes a fool of himself. 没穿过耐克 (He) never wore Nike. 自己画个倒钩 Drew himself a barb (tick line, to pretend to wear Nike). 羡慕同学有爸妈开车接送 He envied his classmates when their parents drove them around. 他吹牛家里游艇正在维修 He bragged that his family's yacht was being repaired. 这个蠢货幻想有两个朋友 This douchebag fantasizes about having two friends. 一个叫尼克 One's name is Nick. 另一个叫马修 The other is Matthew. 还以为是他国外的笔友 I thought they're his pen pals from abroad. 所谓的朋友全都是他虚构 He's making up all his friends. 尼克是狮子 Nick was a lion. 马修是条狗 Matthew was a dog. 用秘密威胁他做我朋友 Threatened him with this secret to be my friend. 他提了个要求 He made a request. 家长会我爸 PTA meeting with my dad. (PTA - routine meetings between the parents and teachers of students, to discuss a child's progress at school) 装他大舅 Pretend to be his great-uncle.
Here starts the part Cai Lu is singing in the video (and it's 😭💔):
尼克马修其实是孤独的魔咒 Nick and Matthew are actually a curse of loneliness. 若有人陪伴怎会如此荒谬 How can it be so absurd if he has company? 所有的情绪靠幻想找个出口 All his emotions find an outlet in his fantasies. 喜怒哀愁去和故事书交流 He'd go to a storybook for his sorrows and his joys. 自我欺骗才能排解烦忧 The only way to get rid of them is to lie to himself. 这个倒霉蛋我认识十五年之久 I've known this unfortunate man for 15 years. 你是除了我以外,他唯一的朋友 You're the only friend he's got besides me. 看过了彼此的伤痛 You guys've seen each other's pain. 应该更宽容 You should be more forgiving. 别被情绪左右 Don't let your emotions get the best of you. 一起向前走 Let's move forward together. 如果我是尼克 If I'm Nick. 你来做马修 You'd be Matthew. 他渴望的两个朋友 The two friends he craves. 你和我送他拥有 You and I will give him the two friends he longs for.
The clip ends here, but there are a few more verses 🎶
尼克和马修他童年的缺口 Nick and Matthew, the gaping hole in his childhood 填补了他的梦 Filled his dreams. 你我别放手 You and I, don't let go. 尼克和马修吹过最离谱的牛 Nick and Matthew is the most outrageous thing he's ever bragged about. 能不能和我一起 Will you join me? 将他心愿保留 To keep his heart's desire alive
ಥωಥ yeah.
🌟Context: after the earthquake arc dive, Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang have a fight where CXS says he doesn't want to see Lu Guang anymore. Qiao Ling tries to ask LG what happened but doesn't get an answer. Then she goes to comfort CXS:

Eventually LG goes to sulk on a basketball court:

Again huge thanks to @chocolatexiaoshi for basically translating everything and adding context to this song 🙏 I just checked english grammar and helped to put it together 🤝 We're keeping in touch and they've actually seen LC musical live, so if you have more in depth questions about the play or specific actors, let us know 😘

Surprise! A Knil - Hero of Sorrows character sheet! She is one of my favorite OCs so how could I not? 😊
Backstory: Knil grew up in Termina Field, just southeast of Romani Ranch and north of Woodfall Swamp. She and her father had a farm of their own, though they mostly focused on produce, such as apples and Termina Wheat. Knil was the one who would take and sell their product to Romani Ranch as well as Clock Town, where she became friends with Cremia, Kafei, and Anju.
When the moon first began to descend as the festival drew closer, Knil was one of many who wanted the festival to be canceled and the moon to be dealt with, especially when the poison from Woodfall began to infect their farmland. However, she still ventured to Clock Town, determined to support her friend's wedding, only telling her father to stay home. She had visited the two the night when Kafei was cursed but left before he was confronted by the Skull Kid.
When she arrived back home, Skull Kid was there, having turned her father into a tree (I know that is basically the same as the Deku Butler's son, but the man was fussing over his apple trees, so the Skull Kid decided to have fun with trees again). She charged the Skull Kid, like Link did in his version of the timeline, and attacked him, but Skull Kid turned her to stone, thinking a girl leaping at him with a pitchfork would make a cool statue.
With her sorrow, regret and ferocity impressing Termina's gods, they pulled together the rage, sorrow, hate, and regret of all the people of Termina and formed the Fierce Deity Spirit, infusing it in the petrified girl.
She was free from the stone but overcome by all the power and rage and went on a mindless rampage as a demon god of war until she passed out and was found by the Happy Mask Salesman.
You've met a Terrible Fate.... haven't you?
Three days remaining...

“…I will always navigate us back out…”
“…I want to be the freest…”
“…no matter what… we will live…!”
Luffy opens his eyes, slowly and weakly but the world above is a blur to him. He heard Nami's voice. He heard them both. He blinks. The ceiling is white. There’s machines around. There’s something on his mouth. A sword beside his bed. Beeping.
Beep… beep… and it gets louder as he begins to take it in more and more and-
He’s been here before.
The beeping picks up speed as blood rushes to his ears.
He remembers this. He can’t.
Not again… not again..!
The memories of his brother in his arms, his exhaustion seeping through to the very bone as he wails and cries and whitebeard and his crew are broken as well and-
There’s a crash as his fist connects with the machine. He’s tearing himself out of bed and throwing it all away as he lets out a bloodcurdling scream. He’s vaguely aware of people around him but he can’t focus. He can’t control himself. The grief that builds and shoots through his very being. Controlling and twisting his heart and soul with new fresh pain. He throws and punches and kicks for dear life as he crashes outside calling for his brother.
“HE'S GONE! I LOST HIM AGAIN!” He wails, never ending sorrow creeping back in. The one he bottled up years ago like Jinbe taught him. Full and fresh and waiting. How can this world be so cruel as to force him to go through it again.
He’s hurting himself as he hits his own head on trees and rocks without thinking. He couldn’t anyway. He was simply not seeing anyone. How he got there, what he's done he doesn't know. The Polar Tang is as far away as his thoughts are. He screams and calls and searches blindly for the body he knows he’s never going to find. For the warmth he will never sense ever again.
There are warm hands on him pushing him to the floor as another grabs the hands that keep tearing at his chest. His name is being called and suddenly there’s fire. There’s fire. Fire. It doesn’t burn. It’s soothing. It’s warm and calm. And safe. And… and…
“Ace…” There’s clarity again. He can hear more. He can start to see the people in front of him again.
The fire is familiar. It's safe. Safe.
“Luffy…” one of them says softly, almost pained.
Alive. The fire is alive.
“We’re here little brother we’re here.” Says the other, as gentle as the ocean breeze. He blinks. He has to blink again to clear the tears. His brothers are right here in front of him.
“Ace… Sabo…” His voice is the smallest he’s ever heard himself sound. It could have annoyed him. It could have. The tears spring up again, blurring the scared and worried faces of his precious brothers in front of him. His treasures. “Ace…! Sabo…!”
They pull him up and hug him close. It doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t feel real. This can’t be real because what was all that he went through then? What were those two years for? What was everything he went through?
“We’re here, Lu. We’re here for you little brother.” Ace says, a pillar of strength and safety for Luffy's trembling form. Warm and alive. He can’t be here because he died. He died in his arms. This isn’t… how it went at all.
“We won’t leave you again. We’ll be with you. You have us Luffy.” Sabo whispers in his hair as he rubs his back. Luffy is sobbing because this isn’t real. He doesn’t remember this.
“This… this isn’t real.” He says and his brothers murmur protests and comfort beside him as they tighten their hugs. It isn’t real. Even if the pain feels real. Even if he feels warm and safe. Luffy knows as he smiles.
But maybe that’s ok. For now, that’s ok.

⦑ no life without death ⦒✶.*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing(s): luis serra navarro x f!reader synopsis: you watch the love of your life leave in pursuit of repentance from his former sins. inspired by @luisnavarros content: character death, hurt/slight comfort, sad letters, mentions of trauma « 0.7 k words┇masterlist┇reblogs appreciated! »
Tumblr media
“Why are you crying, hermosa?” Luis’ smooth hand journeyed to your waist, the velvety graze of his palms pulling you closer. A sensation he knows will yield your uncertainty, the gentle act dulled the anxiety away, even if it’s just for a moment.
“You’re leaving, Lu.” The words spat out, brimmed with exhaustion. You’re about to lose him again.
Luis secured the strap of his duffel bag onto his shoulder, the other hand crinkling the one way flight ticket to Spain. Sorrow re-emerged Luis like an old friend, something that never truly goes away, especially after all the atrocies he had enabled, all the lives killed as a result. Paying the price for it, still, seven years after the incident. “And I’ll be back before you know it, eh?”
“I don’t care if you worked for Umbrella… please. Just don’t go.” Your brows writhed against each other, pupils glossy.
Luis wanted to hold you. Never let you go. Submerged you into his arms. But how could he protect anyone with hands made of destruction? How could he protect you like this? The guilt, like the black mould itself, festered in his very soul. It was now or never.
“Don’t cry, mi amor. Tears don’t look good on such a beautiful señorita like you.” His finger brushed against your lower lash line, collecting the tears in his lovingness. The steel ring on his index finger chilled your face as he moved, and you know it was futile to stop the man you love. “I must go. You know it.”
“Let someone else do it. Let them take the burden in their hands. It doesn’t have to be you.” Years and years of therapy Luis attended had allowed him to speak more about his past and came to peace with the memories. You thought he was doing so well. That he was finally going to let the past go, be with you forever. “You’ve done enough repenting. What about your happiness?”
As if consumed by your affection, Luis soothed your body into his. You saw Luis as who he was, and not just a pawn of Umbrella.
“Señora Dulcinea.” Luis ensnared your lips into his, capturing your breath through a soulful press of the lips. He planted his everything, his yearning for him, his tenderness, into a kiss so passionate, it seeped through layers of built-up apprehension. A kiss so beautiful, and one that you will never forget to be the last kiss you two will ever share. “Siempre te querré, cariño.”
“I will always be your Señora Dulcinea.” The tears almost poured out of you as you spoke, but you wanted Luis to leave on a good note. One that did not have you drowned in your own tears.
You smiled, and before you knew it, you slept in peace with Luis’ surrounding you with his warmth. Luis picked you off his embrace and placed you on the couch with a blanket over you.
A final kiss, a farewell on your forehead. He hated to leave without saying his final goodbyes, but Luis feared that his legs won't leave if you’re awake. His heart had been strung along so far by you, whether intentional or not. And that would never change.
Luis walked out of the door, and you are still waiting for him to come back to this day.
Until.
Six months later, a gentleman arrived at your door. Blonde, black suit from head to toe, guilt lingered his eyes. “My name is Leon. I worked with Luis.”
“Is he okay?” you asked, desperate. He didn’t respond, which told you exactly what you needed to hear. What you didn’t want to hear.
“Luis left a message to you.” Leon uttered and passed an envelope to you. “It took me a long time to find you. He kept you a secret, to protect you from Umbrella.”
You picked up the envelope, ripped it as fast as you could manage without damaging the contents and read:
My Señora Dulcinea, If you’re reading this, I’m probably dead, eh? Miguel de Cervantes once said ‘Hasta la muerta es toda la vida.’ There is no life without death. You gave me a second chance at living. After everything, you forgive my wrongdoings. Without you, I am a wandering nomad without purpose. Without a reason to live for. You freed me. That’s why I need to leave… If only to save one in many I’ve killed… Señora, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me one last time, for leaving you. To protect you from this plaga that cursed our home. And I’ll do it all over again just to see your smile, cariño. Yours forever, Luis Serra Navarro

[forget-me-not]
pairing: jing yuan x gn!reader
summary: he likes to meditate a lot, to calm himself and keep himself sane from all the sorrows he has been through thus far. and it seems the general has never been one to remember personal tragedies.
word count: 0.89k
author's note: i saw that one tweet about him forgetting snowmoon supposedly if you ask him about it,,, i went crazy and also lost my consciousness. bone apple teeth yall.... this was made in 30 minutes.
═══════════════
jing yuan has known you since you were both in diapers. studying together, playing together, falling asleep under the tree in his parent's garden, tired from running away from your teachers to skip class together —
anything you could think of, the two children have experienced it together.
so when he announced to his family that he would be joining the cloud knights, and faced the harsh opposition, it only made sense that you would pack your things alongside him and leave with him during the night.
training was harsh and he'd often come back to the small room you both shared tired and exhausted. you were not fit for the military like he was, and frustrated with the circumstances, he had a fight and fell out with you. for the first time in his life thus far, he woke up and you weren't there.
he tells himself that he was fine, that he didn't need you to be him all the time. he wan't a baby anymore, he was a cloud knight! and cloud knights were cool and strong and capable and independent...
he wasn't really fine, spending days that turned to months and then years without you around. with no sight, no sound of you. he was wondering if you were just a figment of his imagination.
but things took a turn when his mentor, jing lu, took him to meet her friends. not really registering what she was saying about the kid her friend had taken in around his age until he was face-to-face with the person he'd thought he'd never see again.
baiheng, who had been eagerly watching this exchange chuckled gleefully, her hand slapping his back to snap him out of his daze.
ah-yuan, do you like the suprise?
he looks at her, stupified.
the foxian flashes him a lopsided grin, mentally cheering at her victory. you see, she had picked a certain lost child roaming on the streets with nothing but the clothes on their back and a small sack across their back, many years ago. the child was crying, still upset over an argument they had earlier with their best friend, and even more distraught over the overwhelming feelings of uselessness they had been feeling for a while.
baiheng's heart had ached for the little one, taking them under her wing and bringing them along her journeys as a nameless. you, who was once this lost child had now seen worlds past your skies and had long outgrown the juvenile skin you used to wear.
you stood before him, with the same face he had always remembered, but now carrying the aura of galaxies beyond his comprehension. despite this, you were still you, after all. and he talked to you like you had never left his side before.
somewhere along the way, your awkward reunion and cracked relationship was mended. the ground stood fertile for something new to bloom between the two of you. and as the vines of this new feeling wrapped around his heart, with tendrils sinking into the soft flesh, he feels that things have changed but stayed the same yet felt uncertain all at once at every turn of his relationship with you.
you looked at him a little differently too these days. and as you two toed the line of what you both were, the unasked question that hung in the air — will we or won't we cross over that line together?
jing yuan wasn't a patient man and was the first to step over the edge, falling into your space, filling your mind with his presence and taking your heart in his hands. he was yours, and maybe that was the fate that was set in stone all along, with you being the first one he chose as a baby as opposed to that sword he always told others he had picked.
your death was as sudden as it could have come. and it hurt more that you died not from age as a short-life species but from a freak accident. something, something about baiheng being turned into some chimera beast and mortally wounding you as you desperately called to whatever remnants of the woman you grew to love like a mother were left in the abomination.
when jing lu came back, a casket in tow, he could not bear to look inside it. a funeral was held for you and baiheng, and he didn't go. no one blamed him, no one looked for him either.
years pass, and more tragedies struck what was once the proud heroes of the high cloud quintet, from five to four to two and finally, it was just him that was left behind, yet again.
he's taken up to meditation, choosing to focus on better memories no matter how mundane so as to rest his heart from all that it's been through. every year as the memories mold and morph into each other, he picks out the bad ones like black spots in a bin of rice, and casts them out of his mind.
these days, there is a rumor of the general's old flame. someone found pages of a tattered exchange diary with the man in question and a nameless. though when march and the trailblazer asks him about it, he only hums and shrugs. not really knowing what they mean.

Changes - Luke Hughes
Tumblr media
Hello! Another lil short one, but a long one with Luke is coming soon. Also I have a big announcement coming, any guesses?
As always thanks for reading, send in requests, and just talk to me! <3
wc: 1,163
As the final buzzer blares, signaling the end of the NCAA Frozen Four semifinal game, Luke Hughes slams his stick against the boards in frustration and skates off the ice. He gave this game his all, everything he had left to Michigan, but his team had fallen just short. Disappointment, sorrow, and anger surge through him, threatening to overwhelm him as he makes his way back to the locker room. He knows he needs to pull it together, but he can’t.
As he enters the dimly lit locker room, his teammates look just as dejected as he feels. The atmosphere is heavy with the weight of defeat, and the sting of tears pricks at the corners of Lukes's eyes. He knows he has to distract himself, anything to keep from crying, so he pulls off his sweaty gear with numb hands, but his mind keeps replaying the missed opportunities and the final score.
You watch, heartbroken from the stands, as your boyfriend makes his way to the locker room, his head low, shoulders slumped, and you can already tell he is blaming himself.
“(Y/N).” Ellen’s soft voice gently pulls you from watching your boyfriend.
You meet her sad eyes, and she gently squeezes your hand. “If you want to go down there, you can.”
You shake your head no. “He probably wants to see you or be with the team.”
You know that isn’t true, but you are horrible at these situations. You’re unsure what to say to Luke to make him feel better.
Ellen chuckles slightly, shaking her head. “Honey, I guarantee you’re the only person in the world he can tolerate right now.”
Within a few minutes, Ellen gently pushes you away, and your heading toward the Michigan locker room. You feel awful as you get close, seeing a few of Lukes's teammates in the long hallway, and your heart is crushed each time they offer you a tight-lipped smile.
When you finally reach the room, you wait outside, picking at the sides of your nails and staring ahead. Your heart pounds each time the door opens, but it's never Luke who steps out. You wait a few more minutes, debating to call him, when Adam Fantilli, one of your favorite teammates of Luke’s, steps out.
“Hey,” Adams says, pulling you in for a quick hug. “I’ll take you to him. He disappeared a few minutes ago.”
You nod and follow Adam down a few hallways, making a few turns until you spot him. He’s sitting alone on a bench, his head hung low, his slightly curly hair matted with sweat, and his hands covering his eyes. Your heart breaks again when you get closer, and you hear him sniffle a bit.
“Luke," you whisper, voice cracking with emotion as you approach him. "I'm so sorry."
Lukes's head snaps up when he hears your voice, and you can see his eyes are filled with pain. He doesn’t say anything, but the anguish on his face speaks volumes. Your heart aches for him, so you sit down beside him, wordlessly wrapping your arms around him.
Luke responds immediately, burying his face into your shoulder, seeking solace in your embrace. He feels his emotions bubbling up, and he can’t hold back his tears any longer. He let out a choked sob, his body slightly shaking. You continue to hold him, gently tracing his back, waiting for him to speak.
“I let the team down," Luke murmurs, “I could have done better."
Your grip on him tightens, and you shake your head fiercely. "No, Lu, don't say that. You gave it your all out there. You're an incredible player, and you did the best you could.”
Luke finally lifts his head to meet your eyes, and he sees nothing but your unwavering support. He knows you mean every word. Though he feels like he’s dying, your presence helped soothe his heartbreak.
"I'm just so upset," Luke confesses, his voice breaking. "I wanted this so badly. It was our year.”
You nod, understanding his pain.
“It's okay to be upset, Lu. Losing sucks, and it's okay to feel disappointed. But remember, it’s just a game. You have so many more ahead of you. This loss doesn't define you."
He nods again, and you spend the next few minutes with him, coaxing him out of his head. After a few minutes, you both separate, knowing he has specific duties to attend to and you part ways, promising to spend some time together later.
You’re at the hotel, spending quality time with Ellen and some other Michigan family members when you get a text from Luke telling you he’s back. You’re quick to excuse yourself, and when you get up to leave, Ellen sends you a sad smile, seemingly aware of the dreaded conversation you’re about to endure.
When you softly knock on Luke’s door, you hear some shuffling, and he opens it slowly. He steps aside, and when you walk into the room, you see his packed belongings, and memories start to flood your mind. You think of the late-night drives to the rink, the shared victories and defeats, the laughter and tears of life, and everything that you have been through. The thought of being away from him makes your heart ache with longing. You hate it, but you both know whether you like it or not, your boyfriend is moving to Jersey.
You put on a warm smile, hoping Luke can’t see through the cracks, but he does.
Without a word, Luke pulls you to his chest, and you bury your head into his chest, listening to the steady heat of his heart. Before you both know it, tears well up in both your eyes, and you are still in silence, both unable to express the numbness you’re feeling.
“What if I just don’t go? Stay another year?” Luke questions softly.
You don’t answer; you just shake your head and squeeze him a bit tighter.
“What if I hate it in Jersey?”
You pull back slightly, gentle eyes searching his face, and you wipe away a stray tear that rolled down his cheek with your thumb.
“You won’t hate it, Lu.”
You see Luke try to swallow, his throat tight with emotion. “I don't want to be away from you. You’re already far enough,”
Your expression softens again, and you cup his face in your hands. "I know, but I also know how important this is for you. You’re ready, Luke, and I’m so excited to be a part of it, even if it’s a longer plane ride.”
Your words touch Luke’s sad heart, and he leans down, pressing his lips to yours in a tender, lingering kiss. It feels bittersweet. Obviously, it’s filled with love, but there is also sadness.
When he pulls away, he sees you smile through your tears, and you rest your hands on his cheeks.
“Come on superstar, let’s finish packing; you gotta plane to catch.”

Some preliminary costume designs for Ravio from Retired Assets (my upcoming fiction set after the LU adventures).
Tumblr media
The story starts with Ravio being attacked and injured, and he will have to deal with the physical and emotional consequences of losing his right eye.
Tumblr media
Ravio will also receive a small dagger (handmade by Legend & Four!) for self defence. He will carry the weapon under his sleeve for the rest of the story.
Tumblr media
He will be wearing his usual rabbit hood costume, but with some blue potions for safety measures. (A hard lesson to learn… always carry enough supplies, on your belt or otherwise).
Tumblr media
YES, he will get a new look for the Finale, but I will not spoil it just yet!!
Tumblr media
This is a face/hair study I made yesterday to show how my art style for this project differs from that of ALBW and LU.
💜🫂✍️
Note that the story is a tragedy, so sorrowful events will befall kind characters. Ravio and Legend will fail to face their fears and make small but wrong decisions that will come back to haunt them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Coffee in each hand, you used your hip to push open the door to your boss’ office. You squinted into the dark room, stalling for a moment to let your eyes adjust to the sudden disappearance of light. The blinds were shut tight and you could barely make out the desk and few chairs in front of it. A lump lay sprawled over the desk's surface. Curled spikes prodded from the dark shape with little chains hanging from the silhouette. It said nothing as you entered the dark room. “Rough night?” You asked. Placing down one of your coffees beside the lump. The same lump that grumbled and shifted so a clawed hand lazily slapped around the desk until it found the hot mug.
“I’m a homewrecker.” Lu mumbled. An almost sorrowful tone filling his tone.
You threw open the blinds. Bathing the room in sunlight as you answered.
“How are you a homewrecker?” You asked. Ignoring the pained complaints from the DragonBorn as he hid his eyes under a pair of heavily tinted sunglasses.
“Remember that girl I told you about,” Lu asked, leaning back in his overly plush office chair to sip his coffee. “Well, apparently…she has a fiance…”
You plopped down in one of the chairs across from Lu and arched an eyebrow. Waiting for him to continue. “I was so in love, (y/n). She was everything I wanted in a girl.”
“Her and the last four girls.” You said under your breath, behind your mug as you sipped your coffee.
Lu either didn’t hear it, or was too lost in his rant to comment. “We met again last night but she popped out that little nugget of information. Saying that her fiance was getting suspicious and she has to call it off.” Lu wiped a heavy hand down his long snout. The trinkets on his horns were disheveled and poorly placed. And the usual charming suit was wrinkled with a matching tie that hung loosely around his neck. You were used to coming in here and seeing Lu in some sort of state because of a girl. Your last few months of friendship hardened you just enough to feel not much pity for him. True, it was sad to see such a good man constantly ripped apart by horrible women, but Lu wasn’t exactly learning from his past experiences. Any girl that showed him an inch of kindness and attention, and he was gone. A puppy at the heels of its new owner. You were just there to pat him on the back and make sure he drank water and nibbled on something until he got over it.
“Did you eat this morning?” You asked. And Lu nodded.
“A bagel with cream cheese…alot of cream cheese.” You let him have that. At least something was in his stomach.
“At least this time it wasn’t you being too cuddly or something stupid.” You commented. Remembering the last break up had you in a spiral of anger. Lu was the sweetest guy you knew. Even though the two of you weren’t in any sort of relationship, he brought you flowers on occasions and sometimes little trinkets were left on your desk after you came back from lunch.
He was thoughtful and kind. Just an all round loving man. But the last girl hated it. Said he had been too overbearing, and embarrassing her with how much PDA he showed. When Lu told you this, you almost stalked her on Facebook just to find out if you could…visit her and give her a piece of your mind. But that was illegal. And Lu had his confidence shattered so harshly that you had no time to make visits. Building Lu up from that low blow took weeks. Until the new flame fanned through and he was back to his normal self.
Lu smiled that lopsided grin that told you he wasn’t in any mood to laugh, but found your words somewhat humorous. “Yeah, I guess it is better that it's not my fault this time.” His talons tapped the side of his mug for a moment before he sighed. “I’m really stupid aren’t I?”
You laughed and shook your head, reaching across the desk to pat his hand affectionately. “I think you’re just really unlucky. How many women live in this city? And every one you choose is a bitch? I guess you have to dig through the dirt to find gold, right?”
Another heavy sigh came from Lu as he smoothed down the front of his shirt. It was a nice black button up with a green tie that matched his scales. You spotted a small stain on the left side of the shirt, but the black material hid it well. He glanced at his watch and sniffled. Clearing his throat as he realized how late in the morning it was. “I guess I should make an appearance.” Lu finally said after a moment of comfortable silence. He stood and started to correct his disheveled attire. You waited, sipping your beverage as he straightened his tie and tucked in his shirt. He went to the mirror on the wall and took some care to realign his trinkets and chains that adorned his horns.
You always said that Lu was a handsome DragonBorn. And if you weren’t still healing from your last break up, you would be all over him. Like you said before, his gifts were adorable and he always made you laugh. Very rarely did you have a bad day that ended with you stewing in your frustration or anger. Lu made you feel comfortable and relaxed just by talking to you. He was a sweetheart. But your heart was still too bitter to let someone else in right now.
“You’re staring.” Lu teased. Winking at you from his reflection. You huffed. Used to the sudden flush of embarrassment every time Lu flirted with you. It took you a long time to accept Lu’s little jibes. But he did so, only with your consent and for your entertainment. He knew where he stood with you. He was a friend. A work colleague that took you out for drinks and nothing came at the end of the night other than a “I’m home safe” text from both of you. You sometimes fantasied the idea of the two of you dating. Seeing him treated the way he was, hurt you more than he knew. And not to brag or boast, but you would treat him well. Like you did with Dax… In sappy words, you treated Dax like a King and he treated you like a Queen. Equals. Partners. You loved each other so sweetly that when you looked back on it, your lives together still brought on a wave of sadness. You never were left unwanting and never left feeling lonely-
Claws clicked in front of your face and you startled out of your thoughts to look up at Lu. Who smiled down at you with a soft expression. A hand laying on your shoulder as an air of understanding passed between you.
“You’re thinking about him again.” Lu said. It wasn’t a question. Lu knew when you got lost in your thoughts. The breakup, even seven months old, still hurts like a jagged knife to your chest. You weren’t sure how long breakup pain was meant to go for. But you thought you’d be over it more than you were by now. You sighed and nodded. Letting your hand rest on Lu’s.
“We’re both suckers.” You teased. And Lu laughed. Nodding in agreement.
“I’m a hopeless romantic. And you’re a heart broken damsel.”
You jokingly glared up at the DragonBorn. “I’m not a damsel.”
“Well, I’m a Dragon and it's only fitting you’re the princess in the tower.” Lu said. Moving his hand and leading the way out of the office. You followed with your coffee in hand.
“What if I want to be the knight?” You asked. And Lu scoffed.
“I would love to see you in armor. You would be hot as fuck.” Lu said, passing between the desks and cubicles where the rest of his employees were. They smiled and greeted the two of you as they always did. Without enthusiasm but a genuine friendly tone. No one liked working. Everyone wanted to go home. At least Lu was one of those bosses that also wanted to go home, but knew bills had to be paid and didn’t expect everyone to be all smiles and cheerful. Another thing you liked about him. He treated his employees like people. Not numbers or robots.
Just as you were about to leave Lu and go to your desk, a young man came jogging up to the two of you. He was red faced and puffing. You knew this man. He was Lu’s secretary. Even though Lu hated the idea, he was still around. Mostly because Lu didn’t want to fire a family man who just got this job. And also because his mother insisted. “I can’t deny this place pays well. I’m not going to sack him because I hate being followed.” Lu would say whenever he complained about Matt.
Lu greeted Matt just as warmly as everyone else. But there was an undertone of impatience to it.
“Matt, what news does my mother want me to hear?” He asked. And you chuckled as you went to your desk. Just two desks away from where Matt trapped Lu.
“Actually, it's from the front desk. They couldn’t reach your phone.” Matt huffed. Taking a deep breath to stop himself from wheezing before continuing. “There’s a man downstairs that is looking to talk with you. He doesn’t have an appointment, but he won’t leave without seeing you. The girls downstairs are worried.”
Now very interested, you slid your chair over to sit behind Lu so you could listen in. Your boss’ tail slid along the ground and pushed you back against your desk. You pouted at him as you were slowly shoved away from the very juicy moment.
“I’ll be down in a minute. Make sure security is at the ready in case it's a weirdo.” Lu said, his usual nonchalant, lazily tone now a hardened growl. Lu tried to avoid conflict as much as possible. He hated how stupid most arguements were and most could be fixed with a very simple solution of people having common sense. But when it came to his building and his staff, you got to see the Dragon side of him. He didn’t mess around when it came to the safety and comfort of his employees.
Matt nodded and scurried away. Pushing his phone to his ear as he went to the elevator. Lu sighed heavily and removed his tail from the back of your chair.
“Duty calls.” He said with a heavy expression.
“Tell me all about it when you get back?” You asked.
“Of course! We don’t get this much excitement all the time.” Lu expressed. Flashing you a smile as he followed after Matt. Giving the secretary enough time to give the heads up and be down there before Lu.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dax knew this building. Many mornings and afternoons he had dropped you off for work and picked you up from it. He knew the address and the floor you were on. Having sent many flowers and ordered food just for you. It stung a little to be in a place that was so familiar to him. And he almost didn’t come. The chance of seeing you again made his chest tighten and his palms sweat. But he had a job to do. Tucker was worried about Pepper, his fiance. For the past couple of weeks she had been acting weird. So weird that even Dax had noticed the distance she started to bring to her relationship with Tucker. And a week ago, Tucker finally folded and asked Dax about it. Confiding in his best friend about his worries about Pepper.
“What if she’s cheating?” Tucker had whimpered. “I don’t know how to take that.”
“She’s not.” Dax had reassured the satyr. “You know her family is strict. Maybe she’s trying to fix something with them and keep you out of it. She’s like that, remember? When the two of you started dating, there was a month where she refused to go out anywhere with you. And you thought it was because she was ashamed? But really it was because she was scared her family would see her with someone. Let me talk to her. Maybe she’ll tell me.”
Dax didn’t have to ask Pepper what was going on. He followed her one night. Spotting her out in the city when he was about to go home from work. She was dressed up in her nicest dress. The one he remembered Tucker really liked. And she went into a club. Alone. Which was strange because Pepper very rarely went anywhere without her group of friends. Dax wasn’t usually the one to follow and spy on people. He liked to keep his business to himself and let whatever the fuck was going on, be alone. But Tucker was worried. And Pepper was acting weird. His two best friends were starting to split apart and he really wanted to make sure Pepper was alright.
At least, that's what he told himself when he followed her into the club and spied her kissing the cheek of a green DragonBorn. He looked rich. In that pompous, playboy way in a stylish suit and covered in shiny things. His hands were all over Pepper. Holding her hand. Laying on her hip when they got their drinks and found a booth. Playing with her hair and watching her laugh with a distant, awe filled gaze. Pepper was all smiles and sitting so close she was basically on the man’s lap.
He had seen enough. And for a few days he wrestled with the idea of telling Tucker. He deserved it know. Dax would never hide something like this from him. But how do you tell someone, your best friend, that their child-hood sweetheart was out with other men without him knowing? He didn’t know how. And he had no idea how to confront Pepper either. Or how she would react to his knowledge of her outings. But he did know he wanted to do one thing. Confront the guy Pepper was seeing. Make sure he didn’t harass Pepper again and ensure he knew she was an engaged woman. It was how you and he met after all. It was one thing he was good at. Making men back down from harassing women. On the beach, you were in a swimsuit that made you look so sexy. And him playing beach volleyball with Tucker and some other friends. He never lied to you, he had checked you out many times during that day. Who could resist such a sight? But then a group of guys went to you and your friends, not taking no for an answer when you tried to get them to leave you all alone. And so Dax, the intimidating, hulky gray orc had to step in and ask if everything was alright. Pretending to be someone you knew until the group of idiots left.
One conversation later and he asked for your number. Which you gave and the rest was history.
The DragonBorn Pepper had seen might not know what was going on. But if he did, Dax had to put a stop to it immediately before he confronted Tucker. ….He didn’t have a reason why this was the better plan. Probably to postpone the heartbreaking news to his friend. But as the DragonBorn exited the elevators, wings neatly folded against his back, suit crisp and clean, Dax felt a surge of anger rise in him. Why this man of all people? Did Pepper seriously try her luck with a womanizer like this?
“Leave Pepper alone.” He growled. And the DragonBorn stopped in his tracks. The stoic expression changed to surprise and a long stretch of silence followed. The emerald gaze floated from Dax’s old sneakers, up along the torn black jeans, to the shaggy mane of hair atop his head. The fucker laughed. Actually, laughed.
His clawed hands lifted from his pants pockets in an act of peace. Palms out towards Dax as if to stop the wall of fury coming any closer. The smile was easy going. But it made Dax even more irritated.
“Easy, tiger. Pepper already called it off.” The reptilian replied. “Are you the fiance then?”
The look this DragonBorn had already told Dax he knew Pepper was not his girlfriend.
“I’m a friend of his.” Dax replied. Allowing his anger to flow through his words. “Did you know about her relationship?”
“It wasn’t like she wore the ring.” The DragonBorn said. “The moment she told me, I left. I didn’t know.” He added on. Like he was making sure that was certain. “She told me her fiance was catching on and that we shouldn’t see each other anymore. I, for one, almost fainted when she dropped that bombshell. Could you pass on my apologies to the guy for me?” Dax hated the genuine tone to this guy’s words. Like he was actually sorry for what had happened. But there was no way he didn’t know. Someone like him didn’t care about such things. He was a rich kid after all.
Dax looked around. People were staring. A handful of personnel were standing by the doors. They were big people. Minotaurs, other orcs, even an ogre stood among them. The women behind the desk were busying themselves with computers and patrons to the building. But Dax could see their concerned glances.
He couldn’t do this here.
Dax bunched up his fists and stuffed them in his hoodie pockets. The DragonBorn was around the same height as him. But he was thinner. And Dax leaned forward just a little to glare into the DragonBorn’s eyes.
“Make sure I don’t see you with her again.” Dax growled. Before turning on his heels and storming out the building. He saw the security guards about to step towards him, but in the reflection of the window, he glimpsed the DragonBorn raise his hand to stop them. Dax left the building with that raging fire still in him.

When Lu returned from his adventure downstairs his expression was distant. Thoughtful. And you quickly finished off what you were doing to catch him as he entered his office.
“That bad?” You asked. Unsure how to handle this situation. Lu kept it professional when it came to the company’s business. You were left in the dark about a lot of it, which you understood. You were in no position to know anything about the company’s finances or hirings or anything to do with the higher ups. And you didn’t like pushing it to know either. Because it could come out that you were trying to worm your way into the business through Lu. Which you definitely were not. But sometimes, the business hung on Lu’s shoulders like weights. And you just wanted to know if he was ok.
Lu seemed to be startled by your presence. He chuckled and scratched the back of his neck. “Yeah, pretty bad. You won’t believe who-” He stopped mid-sentence. And you waited patiently for him to name who had visited him without a call or appointment. Lu was an important man. But everyone knew they needed some sort of time slot to see him. Otherwise he shrugs them off and tells them to make an appointment if it isn’t an emergency. He had no time for random visits from strange people. But he looked at you and you could almost see his expression change from confused to worried then to a laughing smile.
“It was a mistress…of my mother’s.” He finally said. Like he had been holding his breath for a long time. “Apparently she isn’t answering her phone. So, the lady tried to go through me to her.”
You scoffed and leaned against the door frame. “Really? What are you? A messaging dove?”
“That's what I said!” Lu exclaimed with a shake of his head. “But I am going to gloat to Mother that her little succubus friend came by. She’s gonna be so pissed!’ He waved you away as he picked up his phone. And you closed the door behind you as you left to continue your work.
That afternoon, you worked a little later than usual. Both you and a few other co-workers got caught up in an avalanche of paperwork. And with the weekend coming up, you really didn’t want to get caught working late again. So, you busted it out alongside your team and got it done just as Lu finished up his last meeting. He gave you all a hard, but playful, look when he came out of his office and spotted your cluster of workers.
“You guys are going to make me look bad if you keep working so hard.” Lu sighed as he waited by your desk. “I want to be out of here by 4pm every day. If you all keep working this hard, I’m going to have to work harder so I’m not replaced.” It was 6:30pm when you grabbed your bag and joined him by the elevators. Your team chatted between themselves as you all piled into the lift. Lu conversed with Abby as he answered a few emails. Totally oblivious to her hints at getting a drink with him tonight. You kicked his shin and he looked at you in surprise. Before following your sideward glance at Abby as she giggled.
“Oh, um, actually, (y/n) and I were going to go get dinner. I owe her for picking up some of my slack.” Lu said. You were totally dumbfounded by his response. But Abby seemed ok with it. She told him that she’ll ask again another time and say her goodbyes as the elevator door opened. Everyone piled out and left the building. You dragged Lu to stray behind the crowd. Pinching his sides.
“What are you doing? She’s so sweet!” You scolded Lu. Who sighed heavily and shrugged.
“I want to take a moment away from dating, that's all.” He told you. “And yeah, she is really sweet. But I don’t think she’s my type.”
You gasped theatrically at him. “You have a type?” Lu pushed you playfully away. Making you laugh as you clung to his arm so you weren’t pushed too far away. “But seriously. Are you all good? Ever since that visitor today you’ve been acting weird.”
Lu made a show of hooking your arm under his and patted your hand affectionately. His love language was touch. Even to his friends he would hold their hands or link arms. It was just his way of showing affection. “She shook me a little.” Lu said with a reassuring smile. “Promise I’m ok. Just had a lot of my plate today. Nothing some good food and a drink won’t fix.” You let it drop. Lu would eventually either tell you what was actually wrong, or you would pry bits and pieces from him until you could figure it out. Either way, distracting him with food was the best idea.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dax felt like a creep. Straying near the building for the rest of the day until the last of the workers left, felt wrong. What was he even doing here? The DragonBorn said he didn’t know Pepper was engaged and said he had laid it off. Dax still had to go home and break the news to Tucker about all this mess. Maybe that’s why he didn’t leave yet. Pretending like he cared what this DragonBorn did after he finished work. Because he was still postponing the heart shattering news to his best friend.
He sighed and leaned heavily against the car seat. He had been here for hours. Waiting and watching. Unsure what he was really doing here other than scoping out for the DragonBorn. Sitting in his car across the street from the company you worked at. Watching the front doors as people started to leave. And strange thing was, he hadn’t seen you leave yet. Did you get a new job elsewhere? You were usually out of the office by 4pm. And you tried to worm your way out of working late all the time. You hated coming home and not have a lot of time in the afternoon for yourself. Going home. Dax corrected himself. He sighed again and rubbed his eyes to relieve some of the tiredness from them. It wasn’t until the sun had gone down did he finally spot the DragonBorn amongst the small crowd of workers. He was much taller than the rest of them and his laugh seemed to echo through the street like a melody.
But then, Dax saw you. And his chest nearly burst open with the sudden rush of emotion that came over him. You looked well. Dressed in one of your professional outfits that Dax had once helped you put together. Your smile was wide and your eyes gleamed with laughter. He swallowed the thick ball that choked his throat and forced his gaze away from you. His nails dug into the palm of his hand as his fists clenched. Watching the DragonBorn curl his arm over yours and his scaly fingers stroke your hand lovingly.
The emotion in him boiled into that all too familiar anger. He gritted his teeth. Feeling his jaw ache as his teeth were clenched together. You looked up at the DragonBorn with that same smile that used to turn Dax to puddy. Holding the creature close as he led you to a nearby car. Where the driver got out and opened the door for the two of you.
She moved on quick. The bitter words bounced around in his head like a swarm of locusts. And that cheating scumbag has her under his thumb as well.
Your car smoothly pulled out onto the road once you were seated inside. And Dax turned his car on and followed. At first, he thought maybe you were being dropped home. But instead the car drove past your place and pulled up by one of the restaurants nearby. It was one of your favorites. Dax didn’t enjoy many of the dishes there but he loved taking you. A night out and then a good movie cuddle session. Another sharp pain in his chest made his knuckles tighten on the steering wheel. He kept driving. Moving quickly so you didn’t spot his beat up old car as you exited the vehicle. But he pulled up in a parking spot down the street. Getting out just in time to see you and the DragonBorn go inside.
How was he going to tell you? What was his plan right now? You haven’t spoken in 7 months and suddenly Dax is going to kick down this door and say that the Dragon is cheating on you with Pepper? He stalled. Keeping away from the front of the restaurant where large, crystal clean windows displayed its patrons inside.
It would sound ridiculous… What proof did he have right now? He hasn’t even told Tucker yet. What if the DragonBorn lied right to your face and you believed him over Dax?
He breathed heavily. Rubbing his face with the palm of his hand. He could feel the heavy scruff on his cheeks and chin and there was a sweaty scent to his hand.
In the sliver of glass that he stood next too, his reflection stared back at him with a sullen look. His hair was a mess and the hoodie he wore had stains on it. It was his workout clothes. Meant to get dirty and smelly before he went for a shower and change. He could see you in the back. Seated at a corner table with a candle and decorative flowers as the centerpiece. The DragonBorn spoke to the waiter and ordered for both of you while you picked through your phone. Dax knew you hated eating dinner without your phone being on vibrate. You had once said it ruined the mood if a notification suddenly pinged during the romantic moments.
In the candlelight, you looked beautiful. You haven’t changed a bit. And it was eating at Dax that it wasn’t him beside you.
He couldn’t even remember why the two of you broke up. The argument was a blur to him. The day before it was even less of a memory. He just remembered being angry. He was always angry.
“Excuse me, sir.” A voice called to him. And he was greeted with a kind eyed man in the restaurant's uniform. “A table for one? Or are you expecting company?”
Dax glanced back at you one more time before shaking his head. “No, thank you. I was just looking at the place. Driven past so many times, I thought I’d finally see it in person.” He lied. Hoping his smile didn’t show any of the pain he was feeling right now.
The man smiled in return and bid him goodnight before returning to the door. Dax didn’t wait around after that. He needed to fix things with Tucker before he could confront you with this news. Perhaps he could get Tucker to do it. Save the embarrassing meeting all together by getting the true victim of all this to break the news.
Another heavy sigh and Dax got back into his car and sped away.
Ravioli Week, Day Two- Tender Care (Sickfic, sequel to Day One)
Lu Legend x Ravio (Ravioli)
Summary: After a failed attempt to save Rulie, Hilda led Ravio and the others into hiding with nothing but a sick and injured Legend to show for their efforts. Everyone’s taking it badly- even Ravio, who’s Link is the only one free from the Shadow’s clutches, is unable to leave Legend’s side.
Word Count: 1,913
Warnings: Nothing major. Legend suffers the aftereffects of his time in Dink Jail, Ravio and Shadow are a little sad, Hilda is tired of Everything, mosty light angst with fluff at the end
A/N: I’m apologizing profusely yet again for being super late. In my defense, I hit a massive writer’s block after day one, and school has been the worst lately. At the same time, I didn’t want to quit Ravioli Week after being committed to it for so long, and this is the result. This was written in the midst of my dry spell, so it was mostly a sort of “practice run” with the focus on how each character bounces off of one another. I’ll be back to writing regularly (and maybe with better quality?) now that my braincells are working and school is over. Thank you so much!
----
“How is he?” Hilda asked.
Ravio blinked up at the Queen of Lorule from his spot beside Legend. Her hair was in a loose ponytail- he'd forgotten to help her braid it- and her makeup was minimal. It had been, ever since the rescue. Ravio couldn't judge. She had been preoccupied with other matters.
“His fever is getting worse,” he mumbled, softly running his fingers through the sleeping hero's hair. “His wounds haven't healed, and he's been coughing his throat raw.”
Hilda exhaled deeply. She sat beside him, joining him in his quiet vigil. “Is there anything I can get you?” she asked intently.
“Saria's taking care of it,” he said.
“I'm talking about you, Ravio, not him.”
Ravio hesitated. He looked away and shook his head.
She laid a hand on his shoulder, and Ravio lifted his gaze to meet her eyes. They were tired, likely from the strain of holding the group together. She really shouldn't be worrying about him, of all people. She knew he could take care of himself. Still, she continued. “Ravio, you haven't slept in days,” she hissed under her breath. “You haven't eaten, either. What's going on?”
Ravio flinched and chewed the inside of his cheek. “I-I'm sorry, I just-” he stammered. “I've- well, I've been worried, see, and I just haven't found the time-”
Legend shifted and grunted in his sleep. Ravio froze with his mouth open. He snapped it closed and frowned, pausing for a long moment.
“Never mind,” Hilda muttered. “Just… promise you'll eat your food and get some sleep.”
Ravio nodded absently and narrowed his eyes at the rise and fall of Legend's chest, his ears flicking in amusement.
Hilda sighed impatiently and stood, walking away with her cape snapping in the air. He felt a prick of guilt in his heart for ignoring her, but it wasn't long before it was swiftly packed away into the neat little box in the back of his head where he hid the rest of his cares and worries. He was always left with some form of sorrow or another whenever he did that, as if his mind was lamenting the passing of his own emotions.
What a silly thought.
“Hmm… Were you eavesdropping on our conversation?” Ravio asked the trees. He chuckled. “For shame, Mister Hero.”
Silence.
“Did you hear something you liked?” he went on, his tone light. “Or did you notice the irony in her request? One of the two, if not both, I assume.”
My, the crickets sound rather beautiful tonight.
“Bold. But justified, probably,” he reasoned. “And it's so very Hilda of her.”
“It's because she cares about you.”
One of the shadows flickered, and a blood red eye stared at him from amidst the gloom. “Idiot,” its owner added.
Ravio smiled. “Shadow. I should've guessed Hilda wasn't the only one in character today.”
“What does that mean?”
“Meaning I expected Mister Hero- who is currently faking sleep- to answer.” He shrugged. “I suppose finding another nosy hero in the bushes should've been expected as well.”
Shadow emerged from his namesake with folded arms. “Very clever.”
“Shut up, both of you,” Legend grumbled, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. “Look, you're both very witty, but I'd bet each rupee in Ravio's pockets right now that Saria can hear every word you two are saying.”
Shadow snorted. “Doesn't matter. She'd know what our breath smelled like without even getting close.”
“It is somewhat of an inevitability,” Ravio conceded, “even if that is an absolutely horrible metaphor.”
“The kid knows things,” Shadow said, ignoring him. “You'll just have to get used to it, Blondie.”
It was almost funny how quickly Legend's expression went sour. Ravio had to give him a stern look to keep him from saying something insulting.
On the other hand, Shadow didn't show any signs of pleasure at successfully annoying him. His cap, which was normally very expressive, didn't curl or even twitch. Instead, it hung limply from his head. He must've been more depressed than he thought, Ravio realized with a pang.
“Look, Shadow, I’m-” Ravio started.
“Don't apologize,” he interrupted sharply. “I didn't come here to talk about myself. Or you, for the matter.”
Ravio wrinkled his nose, taken aback. “Care to tell us what you did come here to talk about?”
“Nothing,” the darkling responded curtly. He reached into the shadows and said, “Frankly, I'd rather not be here at all. But Saria and Aurora send their best wishes, and I'm the poor guy who has to bring ‘em.”
With that, he gifted Ravio a rag, a canteen, and a bottle filled with a shimmering gold-colored elixir. Ravio accepted them, dipping his head towards Shadow. Thank them for me, would you?” he said.
Shadow's only answer was a flick of his cap as he turned and let himself be swallowed by darkness. He left behind a lingering sense of melancholy.
Legend seemed to sense it, too. “Just like him to dampen the mood and leave,” he muttered.
Ravio winced and pointed out, “That's not really fair.” He's suffering, just like the rest of us.
When he didn't respond, Ravio shook his head and placed his hand over the other's heart. “You need to rest,” he said gently. “Here, drink this.”
He placed the bottle of elixir that Saria had cooked up for him in his hand. Legend cast it a suspicious glance before uncorking and downing it in one go. He grimaced as it went down.
“Water?” Ravio offered.
Legend shook his head.
“Take some anyway,” he insisted.
Legend scoffed, but grabbed the canteen and took a long drink. “Anything else you want me to inhale?” he asked sarcastically.
“Nothing else,” Ravio answered simply.
“Good, ‘cause I-”
Suddenly, yet another coughing fit struck, this one particularly nasty. His throat must be so raw by now, after having this sickness tear at him for so long. Ravio wrung his hands anxiously as he worked through it. There wasn't anything he could do, and he had always hated hearing it.
Luckily, it didn't take long for the coughing to abate. Legend groaned weakly. Ravio found himself shifting closer and allowing the frail hero to lean on him.
“Are you alright?” he asked nervously.
“I'm fine, Rav, stop worrying about me,” he rasped. He pursed his torn and bitten lips and reached again for the water.
“Can I get you something to eat?”
“Ravio, really.”
Ravio bit his tongue. He couldn't help it! He was so worried- terrified, even- that his lover would do something rash to prove he was strong, or something noble and courageous like that. Heroes were prone to being stubborn idiots and getting themselves hurt because of it. Besides, fretting over these stupid heroes was one of the few things he was actually good at.
“Could you at least try to sleep for a couple more hours?” Ravio persisted.
Legend scowled. “Sleep is all I've been doing. Sleep during the day, sleep during the night, take an elixir, repeat.” He clenched his fists. “It's driving me insane. I want to do something, Rav.”
Ravio understood, he truly did. He just wished he'd stop being so obstinate about it. “If I take you for a walk after, would you do it?” he suggested.
Legend hesitated. He mulled that over in that frustratingly beautiful head of his, pretending not to care too much, but Ravio had seen how his ears had perked at the idea. He wasn't too surprised when Legend nodded.
Ravio wasted no time in gently pushing him back down into his bedroll and tucking him into his blankets. He doused the rag that Shadow had given him in water and wrung it out so it wasn't soggy. He placed the damp cloth on Legend's forehead. He didn't miss the tiny sigh of relief that slipped from his lips as it made contact with his burning skin.
“Hilda’s right, you know,” Legend said abruptly. “You shouldn't be starving yourself for my sake. Or keeping yourself awake all night.”
Ravio stiffened. Lolia! Why was everyone worried about him? Would he never escape?
“And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call irony,” announced a tiny Shadow in his head. He metaphorically swatted it away.
“I'm not going to explode if you get a snack or something,” Legend informed him.
Ravio shot him a flat look. “Thanks,” he remarked. “I feel better already.”
“Ravio, I mean it.”
“You're being just as sarcastic, Mister Hero.”
“Am not.”
“Yes, you are.”
“I am not!”
“I already know you're not going to explode. That's sarcasm, Link.”
Legend rolled his eyes. “Fine. But if you don't take care of yourself, I'll make you,” he warned.
“Oh?” Ravio raised a brow. “And how will you do that?”
Legend smirked. With a devious glint in his eye eerily similar to Tetra’s own, he pounced. Ravio yelped as he was tackled from his seat and wrestled into the hero's bedding. He strained to free himself, but to no avail. He was startlingly strong, even when sick!
“Link, you're contagious!” he gasped.
“Should've thought about that during dinner last night,” he growled teasingly
“How was I supposed to kn- ACK!”
Ravio let out an involuntary and extremely undignified squeak as Legend poked a finger into his side. Sensing weakness, Legend continued to prod him mercilessly. Ravio squealed and squirmed but Legend refused to relent.
“Link! Stop it!” he giggled uncontrollably. “Let me go!”
Legend laughed at him! The audacity of that Hylian! He had half a mind to whack him with his own pillow.
“Okay, okay, I get it!” he panted. “I'll do it, just let me go!”
Legend let him wriggle free and stumble to his feet, grinning mischievously up at him. Ravio's face was red, but he tried to hide his embarrassment by pretending to dust off his robes.
“Well, what are you waiting for?” Mister Hero had the gall to say. “I'm sure Saria has something you can eat.”
Oh, Goddess, Saria! She had heard everything, hadn't she? Ravio groaned, covering his face with his hands.
“If you-” Legend began.
“Not a word out of you, Mister Hero,” Ravio chided. “You resorted to tickling to coerce me. How low the Hero of Legend has sunk!”
“Stop being dramatic,” he chuckled. “Now, scram. Eat some bread or something.”
“I'll have you know,” Ravio sniffed. “I am being as dramatic as the situation calls for.”
“Hey, I told you to get lost, didn't I? Go on, now. Shoo.” Legend waved his hands at him.
Ravio stuck his tongue out at him like they had when they were kids, bickering over trivial, meaningless things like the price of a hookshot or where to put Sheerow’s cage. It was almost unbelievable how dramatically things had evolved since then, yet some things were as familiar as ever. Goddess, he loved that man, even when he acted like a constipated raccoon with cacti for droppings. Maybe that's where he found the patience to turn around, approach Saria, and ask for one of the pastries she loves making. Her overjoyed expression almost made it worth the mortification of being teased about his husband.
When he returned, Legend was nestled in his blankets, curled into himself and snoring softly. Ravio found himself smiling as he brushed his pink-tinted locks from his lover's face.
He decided to eat the pastry. Legend deserved some sleep untormented by thoughts involving Ravio's own self-care.
It was the sweetest he'd had in a long time.
