If you'd like to join our community of selected UK-based makers we'd love to hear from you. We're not a marketplace - more a curated shop and pr tool for makers in the UK. We use a selection panel to help us curate our website. Selected makers sell through our website and we also work like agents for them, promoting their businesses to the press, curators and craft loving audiences, as well as seeking out opportunities for them and also providing business support for those who'd like it.
This list includes places who stock ceramics from a wide range of designer makers who are national and international. Some galleries in the guide only stock local artists or are run by a single maker.
These independent shops actively seek makers that produce in smaller batches who offer something unique and different to the mass market.

MADE LONDON - Marylebone
MADE LONDON is an annual contemporary craft and design fair where the very best of national and international designer-makers present and sell their work to the public. Over 120 exhibitors across all media (ceramics, wood, silver, gold, glass, textiles and more) showcase their original, unique and exceptional work to the capital.

I have a chance to visit this event with a lovely couple from Malaysia, Esmond and Joanna. Basically, It feels like we are going to a design market or something along those lines. But what made it more interesting is there are both national and international designer-makers showing there works here.
One designer that we have discussed with, she is a generous woman name’s Liz Valenti. She used to study fashion design at the Royal College of Art and worked in the fashion industry as a designer in New York and London. Also, She used to lecture in a few colleges in the UK.
“I make clothes in 3D paper collage using an extensive range of papers of different types and qualities from discarded waste to specialist types. I manipulate paper by breaking down the surface to resemble the character of cloth using various techniques and tools.”
Liz Valenti
Her works give a classic feeling of something like a mosaic. It was very attracted me to look closer and see how amazing those paper became by the hand of an artist. The pattern on the clothes got inspired by a different source of references. For example, from the upper photo, the pattern got inspired by a pattern of the floor of the church (I cannot remember which church). it’s interesting how she transfers those pattern from where people usually skip their eyes to an ordinary medium appearance - a cloth.

Another lovely object, an octopus and otter made from wood. The special function of them is that the tentacle part and otter’s body are adjustable. By the cutting technique which creates a flexible joint.
A horse sculpture made of thin wires. Which is quite interesting to think of how it made. (But it ower weren’t there, so I can have fun with thinking about that)
Another alluring work from a Mexican designer, Iris. Her works mainly inspired by Mexican Folk Arts and Crafts and the magic of 1960s graphic design. She is a very nice and polite woman. She told me that all the face on the brooch and a person in stickers were inspired by a member of her family. Also, some brooch was inspired by many different interesting sources such as The serpent and eagle brooch from Legend of Tenochtitlán, a parrot from Frida Kahlo’s Parrot painting or a jaguar from her cat's collection which inspired from The Mayan culture, jaguar symbolizes the God of the night sky and the ruler of the underworld. As a cat lover, I did buy a jaguar one.
