I think this is where I stand right now. (Had to do this because of that last post lmao.)
Tumblr media
(Don’t get me wrong—I do think the stuff in tier 3 is amazing, but they’re a little inconsistent for me they have a good handful of tracks I don’t really love or even tend to skip. To be fair, I could say that about any Beatle album though. Their placement is somewhat arbitrary! It’s hard.)
(I feel a little bad for putting Beatles For Sale in the bottom when it’s really not that different from AHDN and Help! but idk, I just think those two are stronger?)

MAWS AU - the Kryptonite sphere does not get brought to Thanksgiving and the ship doesn't activate. All the drama is interpersonal :)
(obviously: set during the Hearts of the Fathers, spoilers ahoy) The kitchen smelled wonderful, the roasting turkey, the  hot honeybutter rolls, James's yams with marshmallows, potatoes with enough herbs for all of scarborough fair.  Martha had prided herself on a  cozy kitchen, a welcoming home.
"What do you mean, an enemy?" Martha Kent interrupted her husband's good natured advice to their son. Her Clark did not call people enemies.  Oh, they'd taught him well, he tried to see the best in people like Jonathan, but he also knew to believe people when they showed him who they were. When he'd come home in second grade with blood on his shirt sleeve from a fight, he'd been honest about it-- bullies. When he'd lost a chess match in the finals to a cheater,  Clark had used words like 'opponent.'
"Um," Clark said. Ma thought about what she'd read in the article, about that Mr. Ivo and his attack on Metropolis.
"Clark. Who's the enemy?"
"I..."
"Ma, really, you don't--"
"I don't what?" she asked. "Clark. What happened?" she reached up to put a hand on his cheek, tilting his face down so she could see him. His eyes had a haunted look in them. Someone had scared her baby.
"I didn't want to worry you," he said. "General Lane..."
"He's not the nicest man," Ma started to say, out of a sense of hospitality. Lois's father was, after all, a guest. "Clark. Is this just that he's made Lois feel bad? Tell me the truth."
"No," Clark said. "I...I didn't know he was her dad. He--"
"What did he do?" Ma said, a chill like the worst of winter icing her words.
"He caught me," Clark said, looking down. Not at her. At his wrists, like he expected something other than skin and shirtsleeves and Jonathan's best cufflinks to be there. "He said I was responsible, all those people who died...that I'm an invader." The words spilled out of her baby's mouth, the same way they had when he'd talked about needing to quit the football team, like his pain wasn't worth anything.
"Oh," Ma said, quietly. "Oh, Clark. Oh, don't you worry, honey. You stay right here. I'll take care of this."
"Martha," Jonathan said warningly, knowing enough about his wife that the turkey was no longer the priority.
Ma ignored him, reaching up on her tiptoes to take down her grandmother's cast iron skillet. It had always served her family well, no matter what purpose it was needed for.. "Jon, you stay with Clark. I'm not having that man eat at our table."
"Ma, no!" Clark protested. The kitchen door started to open.
"Clark. You may have all those powers, but I am your mother. That man tried to kill you." Ma insisted.
"Hey, I'm just grabbing the--what." Jimmy stared. "Uh. Mrs. Kent?"
"James," she said, smiling. " You can take the yams out in a minute, dear. I need to settle something with our intruder."
"Indrude--ma, no!" Clark followed her, his long strides a match for three of hers, but she still reached the living room first.
"Get out of my house," Ma said to the General, interrupting whatever silent, awkward conversation had been happening between him and Lois.
"Excuse me?" he said, standing, automatically shifting his feet. Ma narrowed her eyes. She knew a defensive stance when she saw one.
"Lois, honey, you can stay. But he's not welcome."
"What's going on?" Lois asked. "Clark?" The look on his face caught her breath. "Clark?"
"The General," Clark said, hollowly. "Lois, please tell me you didn't know."
"Know wha--"Lois looked green as she registered the Important Capitals. "Oh, oh my god. Dad. Tell me you didn't."
"Didn't what? Lois, what is this?" The General looked almost bewildered. Ma wasn't sure if it made her angrier that he might be pretending not to know what he'd done, or if he was really so blind that it didn't matter. She was angry all the same. “Tell me you didn’t kidnap and try to murder my boyfriend!” Lois exploded. Ma felt a rush of kinship with the girl. She could stay as long as she liked.
"You're the one who kidnapped Superman? And attacked Cadmus?" Jimmy finally pieced it together.
"How do you know about any of that?" The General asked, eyes still on the threat.
Ma gripped the skillet by the handle, forcing his attention back to her, taking two deliberate steps to place herself between her son and the couch where a monster in uniform -metaphorical uniform, anyways, though not metaphorically a monster-  stood. "General, It’s best you leave now. If you come near any of my children again, so help me, the pigs down at the Anderson's get mighty hungry in winter. Now git."

The White Album has always been a controversial album in the Beatles' canon. While some (rightly) hail it as a masterpiece, an album greater than all of its flaws, some are dissatisfied enough with it to suggest that it would have been a better, stronger record had it been confined to a single LP.
I've long disagreed with that stance, and recently managed to finish a project I'd been working on for a long time. What if the White Album was a TRIPLE album?
Single album theorists and their custom tracklists be damned, what if they had used every single song they wrote in 1968 on the album? An even more expansive and insane version of this already massive album. Here's what I ended up with, as seen in a blog post over at The Reconstructor:

Every Song on Every Beatles Album (Plus The Non-Album Singles), Ranked
I am not ranking the albums themselves against each other, because that’s too daunting.  Or god forbid every song.  But I have ranked the songs on each album (and the non-album singles) against each other.  And learned that I really am a degenerate Paul girl.  Also Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper’s really are Those Bitches goddamn.  I want it acknowledged that I have the right to change my mind about any of this at any given moment.  This was very hard.

SECOND CHANCES (LEVI X F! READER):
AU: PRIDE AND PREJUDICE BY JANE AUSTEN
Tumblr media
~~~~
The breeze was cool. Just what Y/N L/N needed to clear her head after all the drama that had happened prior to this moment! Christa and Mr. Smith had split up, Mr. Ackerman confessed his love and desire to marry Y/N only to get rejected, and Y/N learned the truth about someone she greatly respected. Christa was in Ermich, on a much deserving holiday, whereas Y/N was in Utgard, the enemy base! But was he, Mr. Ackerman, really an enemy anymore? He had opened her eyes, and his motives may have caused damage, but Y/N would’ve done the same thing, right?
Y/N rested her head on the gazebo tree towering over her. She silently marveled at the beauty of Utgard river. The water was clear and glimmering under the sun’s golden rays. Small flowers of the brightest hues peeked from emerald bushes of fresh grass. On occasion, baby butterflies, amber and sapphire in color, would flutter by, sitting on the flowers. The smell of nature and strawberry jam had distracted Y/N from the fear of running into Mr. Ackerman for a good 1 hour. That’s right, strawberry jam!
“ Y/N, dear, you’ve hardly touched any of the food. You suggested we have a picnic. Are you devoid of an appetite?”, Y/N’s uncle, Mr. Theo Magath asked.
“ Oh no, I’ve eaten loads”
“ Have some more scones, you’ve gotten thinner since the last time we met, darling”, her aunt, Mrs. Lucy Magath joined.
Y/N quietly nibbled on a scone.
“ Y/N, is something troubling you?”, her aunt asked.
“ Not at all”, Y/N lied.
“ Don’t try that tosh with me, missy. I can see right through you. You’ve been terribly quiet this whole trip! I won’t pester you any further, but just know that your auntie is willing to listen to you, should you desire to seek me out, okay?”, her auntie soothed, to which she hummed as a response.
“ Say, Lucy, doesn’t Mr. Levi Ackerman live around here?”, Mr. Magath suddenly asked, getting Y/N’s attention.
“ He resides in Utgard castle, about 10 minutes walking distance from here, yes”, Mrs. Magath answered.
“ I hear there’s certain wings in Utgard castle that’s open for visitors. I also hear that the Ackermans have a magnificent lake absolutely brimming with salmon, and I’ve a good mind to see it”, Mr. Magath said. Y/N was uneasy. Anywhere but Utgard castle!
“ Please, can we not?”, she pleaded.
“ Why, dear? Is it because you know Mr. Ackerman? Is he a nasty man?”, her auntie implored.
“ No, it’s just that-”, she stuttered, shaking her head. He’s not so nasty, she thought.
“ It’s just that he’s so-”
“ So what?”, her uncle questioned.
“ He’s so rich”, Y/N said weakly. Her uncle and auntie frowned in confusion. What had gotten into their niece?
“ Now, Y/N. Don’t be a snob! Refusing to see Utgard castle or Mr. Ackerman because of his riches that he didn’t ask for”, Mr. Magath joked. His wife chuckled, but his niece still looked uneasy.
“ Oh, come on now, dear. I’m really eager to go! Besides, I bet a rich man like Mr. Ackerman has business in Ermich. He’s probably not home at the moment”, Mr. Magath argued. And so, the trio walked to Utgard castle. Mr. and Mrs. Magath gossiped on their way to the castle, but Y/N remained quiet, hoping with all her might that Mr. Ackerman wasn’t home.
Once she reached the castle though, a majority of Y/N’s worries vanished. The colossal building was white with dark blue painted towers. Some of the windows were made of stained glass. The trio walked towards the wing open for visitors. A short, plump, middle aged woman greeted them warmly. She had sparkling brown eyes, and white streaks in her auburn hair.
“ Welcome, visitors, to Utgard castle. I’m your host, Martha Somserset”, she beamed.
“ Utgard castle has been the home of the Ackerman family for many generations. Currently, it’s the residence of Mr. Levi Ackerman and his younger sister, Ms. Isabel Ackerman”.
The maid cheerfully guided them through the castle, showing them all the most popular sites. To say that the interior was beautiful would be a gross understatement! Red velvet curtains hung above the large windows, and the marble floors gleamed under the light of a massive crystal chandelier. Ceramic vases boasted expensive flowers, and every wall held an impressive oil painting. The paintings were of previous members of the Ackerman family. Y/N chuckled to herself, noticing that all of Levi’s ancestors had the same serious expression as he did, all except one. Only one painting had a smiling subject. The painting was of a slim, elegant, raven haired woman. Her aura was warm, and she strikingly resembled Levi.
“ Ah, admiring the late Mrs. Ackerman, are we”, Martha smiled. Y/N nodded.
“ This is Mrs. Kuchel Ackerman. She was Levi’s mother, and a breath of fresh air indeed”, Martha said fondly. Y/N found herself smiling too! Who would've thought a man like Levi had such an amiable mother?
“ Mrs. Ackerman was very close with her son. Levi was absolutely shattered when she passed. He hasn’t been the same since”, Martha explained.
“ Levi takes after his father more, but he has his mother’s golden heart. I assisted Mrs. Ackerman with Levi’s delivery, same with Isabel”, she continued.
“ Levi is a perfect gentleman. Never once has he mistreated a servant. He’s so independent, always cleaning up after himself no matter how much I tell him to leave his dirty work to me”, Martha chuckled. Y/N was absolutely shocked! Was Martha talking about a different Levi? She knew that Levi wasn’t as bad as she made him out to be, but was he really this good?
“ Anyways, enough of my blabbering! Let me show you people the statue room”, Martha interrupted Y/N’s thoughts. The young girl felt butterflies erupt in her stomach! The same sense of affection and giddiness she felt back when she read his letter returned- this time with much more force!
The statue room was a sight to see indeed! Incredibly realistic sculptures made of Parian marble filled the room. All the statues were of members of the Ackerman family, and some of them were hundreds of years old. But the statue that caught Y/N’s eyes the most was a life sized one of Levi.
“ This one is of Mr. Levi Ackerman. Isn’t he handsome?"Martha gushed.
“ Yes, I suppose he is”, Y/n replied with a fond gaze and rosy blush.
The more she wandered the castle and heard Martha’s praises of Levi, the more her affection for him grew. At one point, Y/N got lost in the castle as she had wandered off on her own. Y/N was trying to find her way back to the group when all of a sudden, beautiful piano notes started playing, stupefying her and luring her to its direction. The music was a soft, soothing melody so well played, Y/N had goosebumps. As if in a trance, Y/N walked towards its source, stopping in front of a large wooden door that was open just a crack. She peeked through the crack, noticing slender, fair fingers press on the keys of the piano. She peeked further, now seeing a full figure. The pianist was a girl with fiery red hair tied in a ponytail. She had amber eyes, and was about Sasha’s age. Her gown was a lacy ivory one. Suddenly she stopped playing and got up from her seat.
“ Levi!”, she squeaked in delight, jumping at the man, startling him.
Levi twirled her around- and smiled! Y/N had never seen him do that before! She didn’t even know he was capable of it!
“ Hello, Isabel”, he patted her back affectionately.
“ Yes, hello, brother. But first tell me who that girl is peeking at us from outside the door”, Isabel demanded. Y/N widened her eyes as she made contact with Levi. Without much thought, she sprinted to the exit of the castle. I’m not ready to see him yet, she chanted in her head as she ran. She panted outside the castle, totally out of breath. To her dismay, she heard footsteps catch up with her, and then stop behind her.
“ Ms. L/N. It’s a pleasure to see you again”, came Levi’s voice.
“ Um, yes, hello, Mr. Ackerman”, Y/N replied awkwardly.
“ Sir, please don’t be offended by my presence outside the piano room. I had no idea you and your sister would be there and Ms. Martha said this place was open for visitors-”, she began frantically.
“ I’m not bothered by it at all, ma’am”, Levi cut her off.
“ I’m just glad to see you here. And yes, some parts of the castle are open for visitors. I hope Utgard castle impressed you”, he said.
“ Oh, yes! You have a lovely home. Actually, I came with my uncle and auntie. They’ll be out in a minute”, she explained.
“ Levi, who’s this? Are you alright?”Isabel's voice interrupted them. She walked up to the duo.
“ Yes, Isabel. Isabel, meet Ms. Y/N L/N”, Levi introduced. Isabel’s eyes started twinkling, and she pleasantly shook hands with Y/N.
“ Ms. L/N, it’s so wonderful to finally meet you”, Isabel said.
“ Levi has told me so many good things about you. My, you’re just as beautiful as he had described to me”, she giggled cheekily. Both Levi and Y/N started blushing.
“ He said you’re the smartest and most interesting lady he’s ever been acquainted with. He also says you play the piano better than anyone else he knows”, she continued smirking.
“ Isabel, shut up”, Levi hissed in her ear, causing her smirk to intensify.
“ Oh my! I had no idea Mr. Levi enjoyed my terrible playing so deeply. He was joking, Ms. Isabel”, Y/N laughed, hiding her nervousness.
“ My brother doesn’t joke about such things. I insist you play with me this evening”, Isabel returned
“ Y/N, there you are!”, Mr. Magath exclaimed, running towards her.
“ We were looking all over for you”
“ Sorry, uncle, I was lost. Uncle, meet Mr. Ackerman”
“ Nice to meet you sir, please call me Levi”, Levi bowed. Y/N had never seen him this polite before. She expected him to curtly nod and be on his way. Isabel curtseyed and introduced herself before talking with Mrs. Magath.
“ A fine home you have indeed, Levi. I just saw your lake. Me and my wife are most impressed by it”, Mr. Magath complimented.
“ I’m glad you enjoyed your trip here. The lakes have recently been filled with grown salmon. Can I persuade you to go fishing with me later this afternoon?”Levi requested. Mr. Magath enthusiastically nodded.
“ Splendid. I’m inviting your whole family to Utgard castle for lunch and tea. Isabel and Y/N can play the piano, and you and I can fish with Mrs. Magath”, he said.
“ Oh, you boys go fish by yourselves. I’ll be with Ms. Martha”, Mrs. Magath said.
“ See you at 1:30 PM. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some business to see. Lovely chatting with you all”, Levi bowed again, lingering on Y/N before walking back to the castle, his arms linked with Isabel’s. Y/N couldn’t stop grinning even after he left. He sure had changed for the better! And this time around, Y/N didn’t force herself to see only his flaws. She was beginning to return Levi’s feelings! Levi had taken every criticism Y/N had made to heart. He vowed to improve himself. And so, even though he was awfully nervous and not used to such spontaneity at all, he made conversation with complete strangers and invited them to his home. Anything to see Y/N. Anything to spend time with her. Anything to win her over.
The afternoon wasn’t awkward at all, much to Levi and Y/N’s surprise. Levi and Mr. Magath were getting along famously, and Mrs. Magath was laughing with Ms. Martha. Isabel reminded Y/N of her younger sisters at home- and of herself! She was a bright, cheeky young girl with a fondness for music. Soon, the duo talked to each other as if they were old friends!
That night, Y/N went to bed with a smile on her face.
Your parents are politicians, successful ones too, your mother was one of politicians that installed The Reproductive Health Act, she is an avid pro-choice woman, and your father is running for mayor of New York, and the polls are saying that he has great chance of winning. One of his biggest supporters is your brother, Ian. He is thirty-six years old and his lovely wife is seven months pregnant with their first son, and you couldn’t be happier for them and to be an aunt.
Your parents insisted that you didn't have a room in NYU, since they live so close to the university, and you agreed, it didn't make sense to spend money on a room when you were blessed enough to have your parents to guide you in this turbulent time that was college, your grades were near perfection, your relationship with your family was great, your sister-in-law, Kaia was a great friend to you, her parents moved from Norway when she was still a baby. You’ve been in her home country a few times, it was gorgeous, especially in the winter.
To be completely honest, you were quite introverted, you didn't had many friends since boarding school, you knew a few people in your classes, but you never interacted with them outside of classes, sometimes you felt lonely, but Kaia was always inviting you to buy things for the baby, so you weren’t as lonely, Kaia was your best friend, you told her everything. One boy in your class asked you on a date, but after discussing with Kaia, you refused. You were sad because of that, but Kaia said that he might be one of those frat boys that just wanted to take advantage of your sweet nature, that made you feel better, after all, your family always knows what’s best for you.
You never had a boyfriend before, your parents always encouraged you to find a nice boy from a good family, but honestly, you never felt so strongly about a boy to the point of open yourself up to someone that wasn’t your family, it felt wrong in your eyes. It always has been difficult for you to have friends, especially having a romantic relationship. Kaia was Ian’s first and only girlfriend, he met her in high school, you were just a child the first time you met Kaia.
Now it was summer, you were on a break from college. You were going with your parents to a lot of galas, meeting new people, other politicians that work with your mother and possible allies for your father’s campaign. It was mostly older men and women, no one even close to your age, the youngest ones were around Ian’s age. To be fair you didn't want to go to those tedious events, but your parents needed you, and your support, and you would do anything for them.
You and your parents were in the limousine, Ian and Kaia had to leave earlier because she wasn’t feeling very well. You were tired, the light pink dress that your mother choose for you was making you a bit uncomfortable, and being in high heels for hours, didn't help your situation.
“It was a great event, I was able to get many supporters for my campaign. Did you enjoyed yourself, Y/N?” Your father cut the silence, he was now taking off his bow tie, your father had a real distaste for them.
“It was a great event, as you said. The food was incredible, father” Truth was that you hated those events, the galas, the dinners, and the people as well. But you did it for your family, they needed you, and you would rather die than disappoint them first.
“Tomorrow we don’t have any event to attend to, what do you think about you, me and Kaia to go out to buy some clothes for you, Martha reminded me that your clothes are getting quite old, we can pick new ones for you.” Your mother took a strand of your hair and put behind your ear, she was smiling sweetly at you.
“Yes, that’d be incredible, Mother.” You smiled back at her.
“It would be a perfect way for you ladies to spend the day, me and Ian have many things to discuss tomorrow.” Your father smiled and gave his credit card to your mother, and she gently put it in her tiny purse.
“I almost forgot to give your medicine, dear.” Your handed a small piece of cloth and a bottle of water that was on the limousine compartment, you have a very rare and genetic disease, your body doesn’t produce certain hormones, so you have to take the supplements that have those hormones that your body doesn’t produce, but other than that, you are completely healthy.
“Thank you, mother.” Another reason why your parents insisted of having you at home while you go to college, you often forget to take your pills, so your mother zealously reminds you, and she makes sure that you take it every single day at the same time, she even keeps the bottle in your parents’ room.
“Of course, dear.” Your mother kissed your forehead, you don’t remember much of the ride back home since sleep came with full force.
************************
You woke up with the sun hitting your face, you looked at the watch and it was 7:30 AM, you looked at your body and you had your pj’s on, your mother must’ve changed you when you fell asleep. You remembered that you would spend the whole day with Kaia and your mother, you came down from your bedroom and went to the kitchen. The house was silent, your parents were still probably asleep, you liked the early mornings, it was always quite peaceful. The smell of pancakes hit your senses when you were on the stairs, you smiled to yourself, Pierre was already making breakfast. You entered the kitchen and it was, the small and happy frenchman, preparing breakfast for your family.
“Good morning, Pierre.” The chef turned around and gave you a smile, the man was on his forties, and cooking was his greatest passion.
“Miss Y/N, breakfast will be ready in fifteen minutes, why don’t you sit and wait for it?” He gestured at the table.
“Thank you, but I’ll take a shower first.” You went back to your bedroom, you took a cold shower since it was already starting to get hot, you put on a summer dress that your mother bought for you, it was a light shade of yellow. You thought that the dress was lovely, and so did your mother.
You started reading one of the books that it was required for you to read for one of your classes, you looked at the watch again and twenty minutes has passed, you went back to the kitchen, your father was already sitting down, reading the news on his iPad. You went to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
“Good morning, father. How did you sleep?” You sat down on the left side of the table, you put the napkin on your lap, and one of the maids was bringing all the things for breakfast.
“Very well, Ian and Kaia will be here in a few minutes. And your mother is getting ready to out with you and Kaia, I’m sure you’re gonna have a lot of fun together.” He smiled and you smiled back, you wished that you could spend as much time with your father as Ian does, you love your mother, but most of the times, you miss spending more time with him. You heard the elevator open and Ian and a heavily pregnant Kaia came through the doors.
“Hello, father, sister.” Ian gave you a kiss on the cheek, and helped Kaia sit down next to you on the table, she sat down next to you.
The breakfast was delicious, the conversation was nice, Ian and your father were discussing things about his campaign. Kaia was asking you what things you wanted to buy, and she told you that the baby was kicking her a lot, everything was ready for the baby to come, the only thing that Kaia and Ian haven’t figured it out yet, was his name. He was going to be born in the same hospital that you and Ian were born.
“You’re still having difficulties to find a name, Ian?” Your mother asked, and Ian signed.
“Yes, we are trying. But there’s not a good name that caught our attention yet, we still have a few weeks.” Ian laughed, and looked at Kaia, who was laughing as well.
“Well, we must go now because is gonna get late.” Your mother looked at her watch and you and Kaia agreed, leaving your father and Ian. Your mother kissed your father and Kaia kissed your brother.
*********************************
After shopping for most of the day, your mother suggested that you stopped to have a late lunch. After all of you were satisfied with the restaurant, you entered, despite the time, it was quite busy. The hostess took you to a table in front of the window, the view was really nice.
“May I be excused? I need to use the restroom.” Both Kaia and your mother nodded, and quickly went back to their conversation.
You entered the bathroom, not realizing that you were being watched. After you finished peeing, you left the stall, only to be scared by a man looking at you, curiously.
“I didn't mean to scare you.” He declared, after seeing you jump.
“It’s quite alright, but this is the ladies restroom, sir.” The man took a hard deep breath, you had no idea the effect that calling him ‘sir’ had on the man.
“I know, I was after you, I saw you entering the restaurant, you are a gorgeous woman.” He came even closer to you, he was towering over your frame, you quickly looked at his deep blue eyes, but their intensity made you look away, he seemed familiar, but you couldn’t quite place it from where.
“Do we know each other, sir?” He put his hand on your chin, and made you look at him.
“No, but we will, doll.” He placed his nose on your neck and took a deep breath, your lips parted, no one has ever done that to you before, but you couldn’t deny the tingles all over your body. “You will be mine, Y/N.” He whispered in your ear, with a low voice, goosebumps erupted all over your skin.
And the blonde and strange man left you in the restroom, what could he possibly mean with being his? You laughed, maybe he was just being silly, maybe he knows Ian and decided to pull a prank on his little sister, you decided. Maybe that’s the reason he looks so familiar, you went back to the table, after washing your hands, but you couldn’t see the man anywhere. It was definitely a prank, you laughed to yourself.
