A man who delights in all things wicked, supervillain Guzma hatches a plan to steal the moon. Surrounded by an army of little green bug types and his impenetrable arsenal of weapons and war machines, Guzma makes ready to vanquish all who stand in his way. But nothing in his calculations and groundwork has prepared him for his greatest challenge: three adorable orphan girls who want to make him their dad.

Now that Guzma has forsaken a life of crime to raise Nezuko, Eri, and Lillie, he's trying to figure out how to provide for his new family. As he struggles with his responsibilities as a father, the Anti-Villain League, an organization dedicated to fighting evil, comes calling. The AVL sends Guzma on a mission to capture the perpetrator of a spectacular heist, for who would be better than the world's greatest ex-villain to capture the individual who seeks to usurp his power.

The mischievous bug types hope that Guzma will return to a life of crime after the new boss of the Anti-Villain League fires him. Instead, Guzma decides to remain retired and travel to Freedonia to meet his long-lost twin brother for the first time. The reunited siblings soon find themselves in an uneasy alliance to take down the elusive Binary Bard, a former Astro Knights inventor who seeks revenge against the world.

Evolving from single-celled multicolored organisms at the dawn of time, bug types live to serve, but find themselves working for a continual series of unsuccessful masters, from T. Rex to Napoleon. Without a master to grovel for, the Bug Types fall into a deep depression. But one bug type, Golisopod, has a plan; accompanied by his pals Accelgor and Escavalier, Golisopod sets forth to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. Their search leads them to Maleficent, the world's first-ever super-villainess.

In the 1970s, young Guzma tries to join a group of supervillains called the Vicious 6 after they oust their leader -- the legendary fighter Jiraiya. When the interview turns disastrous, Guzma and his Bug Types go on the run with the Vicious 6 hot on their tails. Luckily, he finds an unlikely source for guidance -- Jiraiya himself -- and soon discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.

she's a hometown girl, rooted in family duty and tradition, and is feeling super overwhelmed and stressed, especially now that it's the holidays. she hides her hurt by acting in local theatre and working, a total people pleaser recently. one problem she's experiencing is the fact that she can't get through to her troubled daughter, one of the main causes of her grief is that her parents disowned her upon the pregnancy, she feels like all her sacrifices have been in vain when she's met with fights and ridicule from Katrina who wants to be called kat now, and she is overall maxed out, and rapidly trudging toward a burnout. she just feels like her expectations rarely match reality, and sees her parent's point of view at this point in her life, but resents them for resenting her. she's hoping her wild child daughter doesn't turn out like her or craig. although all isn't bad, her famous childhood best friend, emma nelson is in town staying with them for the holidays, and she couldn't be more excited, so that good news keeps her mind in a good place. she wishes that the rut with craig will be a thing of the past, but she doesn't have high hopes, and she's through with dropping hints to him that she wants to be more than they are right now. ✨

This Nearly Crashed My Browser: Finding All 120+ Competitors

the current list

The Simpsons is known for it's utterly mind-boggling amount of episodes and characters, with its wiki having more than 5K entries in the character section. My job was to sift to through and pick out as many relevant characters as possible, while making some exclusions and exceptions. Here's how it went down:

The wiki's home page has a character tab with a dropdown with five category; Simpson Family, Krusty, At the SNPP, At Springfield Elementary, and Kids

Clicking on each tab will bring you to a page with all characters relevant to the category

-The Krusty tab is literally just Krusty, so I just found Channel 4 myself

In Simpson Family, I grabbed the core family, Snowball & SLH, Abe & Mona, Patty, Selma, and Ling

In Channel 4, I grabbed Krusty, Kent, Bumblebee Man, Sideshow Bob & Mel, Mr. Teeny, Itchy & Scratchy, and later I decided to expand it to celebrities, adding, Marvin Monroe, Troy McClure, Rainer Wolfcastle, Drederick Tatum, and just decided to stick Kang & Kodos here

In SNPP, I grabbed Mr. Burns, Smithers, Lenny & Carl, Blinky the Fish, Charlie, and the people's champion, "Just Stamp the Ticket" Man

In Springfield Elementary, I grabbed Skinner, Edna, Otto, Hoover, Largo, Willie, Chalmers, Krupt, and Doris

And in Kids, I grabbed Uter, Richard & Lewis, Database, Baby Gerald, Milhouse, Nelson, Wendell, Martin, Ralph, Rod & Todd, Sherri & Terri, Janey, and the Spuckler & Nahasapeemapetilon kids

I didn't find the bullies, Jimbo, Dolph, and Kearney in Kids, so I made a throwaway category, "Townies". After these three and over the course of tracking other characters, I grabbed Barney, Sam & Larry, Hans Moleman, Snake, Bleeding Gums, Julio & Grady, Jebediah Springfield, Disco Stu, Squeaky Voiced Teen, Cletus & Brandine, and the City of Shelbyville.

Next, I decided to look for Senior characters, which eventually evolved into the aptly named "Olds" category. This was pretty broad, but here I grabbed Ned & Maude Flanders, Kirk & Luann Van Houten, Marge's Mother, Jasper, Mrs. Muntz, Old Jewish Man (which is his title, apparently), Ruth Powers, Mrs. Glick, Crazy Cat Lady, Sarah Wiggum, Agnes, Manjula, and Matt Groening.

Researching this category, characters such as Apu and Fat Tony came to mind, but were excluded since they do stuff. So then I made the final category, "Career", characters who are most defined by their career. This was the largest category, with me grabbing Apu, Reverend & Helen Lovejoy, Lionel Hutz, Moe, Dr Hibbert & Nick, Fat Tony, Legs & Louie, Johnny Tightlips, Frankie the Squealer, Judge Constance, The Salty Sea Captain & The Rich Texan, Mayor Quimby, Cookie Kwan, Blue-Haired Lawyer, Lindsey Naegle, Roger Meyers Jr, Gil, Comic Book Guy, Chief Wiggum, Officers Eddie & Lou, Herman, Italian Chef (not calling him f-ing Luigi Risotto), and Duffman.

Finally, the characters I forgot or couldn't originally fit, being Herbert, Allison, Rabbi Krustofsky, Artie Ziff, Shauna Chalmers, Kumiko Albertson, and Raphael the Wisecrack.

Exclusions and the Vaguest of Vague Rules

While constructing the list, at the start I avoided adding Allison, Herbert, and the Rabbi. In my mind, these were one-time guest stars, like Hank Scorpio and Frank Grimes, but I decided to include them as Allison became a Janey-like figure, Herbert got a follow-up episode in Season 3, and the Rabbi appeared on occasion with speaking roles. Characters I will never add would either be real-people, with the exception of Matt Groening, one-off guest stars, and set-dressing characters that don't impact main characters, such as Martin's parents, the other workers at the nuclear plant, and Sideshow Bob's wife and child.

Of course, I can bend the rules. If you think of a character that could be included, tell me in anyway you can and I'll decide on it or create a public poll. Why, just typing this up I thought of Flanders' parents, the Vegas wives, and Princess Kashmir, who could all be argued for or against!

The Strand Magazine Announces Nominations for 2022 Strand Critics Awards

t’s a star-studded lineup of authors as Michael Connelly, Laura Lippman, Rachel Howzell Hall and Val McDermid headline this year’s nominees for the Strand Critics Awards from The Strand Magazine. Meanwhile, Sandra Brown and Nelson DeMille will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards, and Morgan Entrekin of Grove/Atlantic Inc. will receive the Publisher of the Year Award.

Recognizing excellence in the field of mystery fiction and publishing, the 2022 Strand Critics Awards are judged by a select group of book critics and journalists that hail from outlets including NPR, AP, Kirkus, CNN, and The Boston Globe. The awards will be presented in early September.

as much as rachel tries to put on a facade that people's words don't bother her, they really do, she always hides her insecurities behind her confidence and talent but sometimes that facade wavers a little and she goes from a force that would tear down walls to get what she wants to a young girl who just needs a friend to understand her and push her to keep making steps towards her big Broadway dreams.

Puck believes he was dealt a pretty shitty deck of cards in life. His dad was AWOL most of his childhood until he basically decided to disappear when Puck was twelve. It’s no surprise that he acts exactly like his dad nowadays. After his dad left, Puck wanted to step up and become the “man of the house” for his mom and little sister.

when brittany was younger she was made fun of a lot for being "a loser" and that feeling of people teasing her and ruining what little confidence she had hurt, a lot, and because she no longer wanted to be seen as a target she decided to take on the typical "dumb blonde" persona that she had seen in movies and used it to her advantage slowly gaining popularity and becoming a completely new person. she's been taking on this persona for so long that she forgot just how smart she used to be, sometimes the old her slips through but most people just brush it off and don't even pay attention, it still hurts hearing people say she's stupid all the time but that's better than being labeled a loser in her eyes, the people who really care about her know just how smart she can be when she tries.

she has a huge heart, it's usually overshadowed by her lack of brains as some people would say but if you really pay attention you'll notice her doing things that prove just how sweet she can be, like helping other people on the cheerios feel better when coach sylvester makes them cry, helping new students find their way around campus, they end up more confused than they were before but at least she's trying, always giving her friends a shoulder to lean on, brittany's sweetness comes in many ways sometimes it's even hidden behind an off handed comment.

brittany can play the guitar, her dad used to play when she was little and would sit her on his lap and teach her how to strum the cords, it was something she picked up on fairly quick and soon enough she could play all on her own. playing guitar was like second nature to her, just like dancing and cheering.

Finn is the Captain and Quarterback of the McKinley Titans football team. He wears number 5 as a dedication to his father who wore the same number when he played football in high school.

He is currently under the “General Studies” track because he has no idea what he actually wants to do. He’s currently on scholarship to play football and that’s the only thing that matters to him so he figures at some point he’ll just stumble into a decision.

In high school, Matt Rutherford had had pretty much everything going for him as he was one of the best football players in his high school, easily getting scouted by many of the best college football teams around the country. Many people even thought he had what it took to get to the NFL, but after an injury his senior year that left him practically glued to the bench. Any scholarship or interest he had from a D1 school had gone out the window, but McKinley was still interested and knew that once he came back from his injury, he’d be better than ever.

His father is a Pastor in Cincinnati, one that hosts sermons on Public Television, and his mother is the Chief Pediatric Surgeon at Mercy Hospital – because of that, Matt has always been someone that has raised with a want to help people, no questions asked. It’s why he’s known as a sweetheart, because he’s kind and friendly and doesn’t have a bad thing to say about anyone… except for maybe himself.

As someone that wants to help people, Matt is currently studying to become a lawyer to help people get out of bad situations or to help them achieve their goals, but he’s not sure if that’s what he wants or what he thinks his parents would want. While they’re supportive of their children in what they want to do, he has found himself slightly lost since the NFL seems to be less and less likely to happen.

He volunteers at the local animal rescue when he has free time.

Before going to college, Hunter enlisted in the military – specifically the Marines – and served six years of active duty. While he is in inactive duty, he has decided to go to college and make use of the fact that the government is paying for his schooling – though, really, he comes from money so it isn’t as though he needs it.

He lives in an apartment off-campus with his cats, Clarence and Stella, and a Rottweiler named Sergeant. Despite the fact that he comes across as a bit of an asshole and someone that seems to care only about themselves, he certainly has a soft-spot for animals.

Singing and dancing are things he doesn’t hate, in all honesty, and he does enjoy it… but he knows that at the end of the day? It’s a hobby, not a career. And his plan is to, eventually, get into politics as his father has. And maybe, one day, become the first openly queer president… if, god forbid, someone else doesn’t take the mantle before then.

Hunter isn’t even remotely bicurious… because he’s pansexual. He has a preference for females and feminine presenting people, but as long as you’re hot? That’s all that matters to him.

santana pretends to be from a rough neighborhood, but that actually isn't fully true. her parents are quite well off and she lives in a very nice home, her father is a dentist and her mother is a lawyer. they are very busy, which means santana was raised mostly by her maternal grandmother. her grandmother's house is on the wrong side of the tracks, which is why she is both street smart... and also wears designer labels.

santana is deeply in the closet. her family is religious (catholic) and being openly gay won't fly. losing her grandmother would be the worst thing that could happen, which is what blinds her to the fact that a lot of people in her family wouldn't mind one bit.

she has a younger sister, manuela, who is disabled. her sister is 19 but has a mental age of around nine to ten years old and is in a care facility because her parents don't have the time to take care of her.

santana loves musical movies like grease, flashdance, and fame but would rather die than admit that.

joe's father is a bible salesman and supported a very large family on his sales skills. joseph is the oldest of seven children. his other siblings are paul (19), edith (17), judith (17), mark (14), solomon (10), benjamin (5). jospeh was often in charge of caring for his siblings, which he did with great care and attention.

joe is studying theology and actually hopes to become a reverend at some point. he was raised in an evangelical household, but as he has been exploring the world and himself, it is actually the episcopal church that is attractive to him.
