Midna (Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess)
I had completed this costume a while ago, but haven’t had the chance to post it. The bodysuit was something that was pre purchased and adjusted to fit the client, but all the other pieces were made by scratch.
All of the details on the cape and skirt were done in HTV. I carefully laid out each piece and ironed on the details. I’m really happy with how things lined up and how well they transferred. I have the cricut/cameo files for this project listed on my Etsy.
3D files were purchased from The Dangerous Laides.

ok i need to get this off my chest abt totk's dungeon soundtracks this isnt necessarily a criticism but just a... idk man its confusing hang on
ok. totk's dungeon themes. theyre good im not going to lie they arent my favorite of the series but totk did deliver some good dungeon themes. what i'm confused about is the choice to use the champion's and divine beast's leitmotifs in the dungeons, like using daruks theme and bits of rudania's theme for the fire temple. that's the first that comes to mind cuz thats the one i like best but i think it was especially noticeable to me for the wind temple, the water temple's theme has some similar instrumentation and some very similar sounding phrases and when i see comments or people talking abt the dungeon themes it is very common to see people talk about the champion and divine beast leitmotifs being used.
and like. fine it sounds nice there is an emotional connection there if you have played botw but like. why are their fucking leitmotifs in totk's dungeon themes???
if you give a character or something a leitmotif, then that little string of notes represents that character or location or concept. usage of that leitmotif is therefore intrinsically tied to that character or whatever. this worked out with zelda's theme throughout the series, esp in totk when it's given the instrumentation of the dragon's themes, so that musical phrase at that moment basically says 'zelda, but a dragon' and like. yknow. leitmotif that literally represents something.
i believe the wind temple's theme incorporates some of rito villages theme, and in turn rito village having the same melody as dragon roost island makes sense, that's effectively a motif meant to represent the rito, like the reoccurring zora's domain and goron city motifs throughout the series, or hyrule castle. when characters have themes in past zelda games that play at different times, it means something about the character being referenced. midna's lament using midna's theme to show that this scene is about midna, she is in danger. fi's different themes playing when she is the center of attention or her leitmotif referenced in botw/totk when she literally makes subtle cameos. linebeck's theme only every plays in scenes where he has some sort of big moment or in the final boss theme because it's only fair that the final boss theme include the motif that represents him because he is the final boss. groose's theme shows up various times in his little scenes (and i believe there might be hints of it in later imprisoned themes?? i'd have to check but it would make sense since he's helping)
so... if you reuse a leitmotif that is tied to something, then reasonably that means that the context in which it's being reused is somehow related to or concerning what that leitmotif represents.
but... daruk's theme and some bits reminiscent of rudania's theme play in the fire temple's theme. reasonably, i would hear this and be like, ah, so this has something to do with daruk, or the divine beast? the usage of his character leitmotif suggests that he is related to this somehow. thats... usually the point of using a character leitmotif like was done in the fire temple's theme!
and yet the champions and divine beasts are not so much as referenced in totk's stories, and you can't even try to the point of their themes being used due to the new sages being relatives, because tulin is not related to revali- he doesn't even get the great eagle bow until after the dungeon, and still no reference to revali is made when he gets it.
so then... why are we referencing botw's champions if they do not matter? why not use the sage's leitmotifs in the dungeon themes instead? the dungeons are much more related to the new sages, and it would allow players to become more familiar to that leitmotif, and would further tie the experience to that dungeon with its related sage, instead of tying it to dead characters that mean jack shit to the story of totk.
it's just really weird that they use motifs from the champions and divine beasts, since that won't click for people who didn't play botw, and it just calls back to stuff not important to totk anyways. the divine beasts have literally no relation to the dungeons, the champions are barely even relevant to the world in totk. i get that the leitmotifs were used as like... maybe some sort of extra pre-existing racial connection motifs, but... use the sage's themes? don't use leitmotifs that have absolutely nothing to do with this game or it's story? sure it sounds nice but the meaning behind those leitmotifs make no actual sense in this new context, unless you're trying to suggest that they actually have a different meaning than being the motifs of the characters and locations that were originally what they were used for.

Hi there! I really love time travel and anything that has more than one version of Link, so your story caught me ages ago. You're a terrific writer in general, and I hope that someday I can find your name or pseudonym of choice at the library.
Anyway, let me rant about what I came here for, aka Hyrule Warriors and all of the temporal f u n that comes with that. Apologies in advance, since I couldn't find the masterpost with all of the Link's names and can't remember Warriors Link's name.
I'm currently writing an AU with Warriors Link, Rune(I could remember that name. My brain is very selective) , and the Linked Universe Chain all thrown together with your Chain, keeping Demise as our main baddie of course, and I realized something about our dear warrior and all of the rest.
Add in Warriors Link during your story, and he'll come in before his journey ends. Meaning that we also get another Hero of Wind(probably older, and maybe having made the Spirit Train seeing as it features as one of his attacks), yet another Hero of Time with even more spoilers than Mask, and Linkle in with the Chain(because do you really think they'd stay back?).
Not to forget that there's Ruto, Sheik, King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule/Red Lions, Ravio, Agitha, Midna, and Mairin(and won't t h a t lead to a mental breakdown! :)) wandering around as well, and Warriors Link + his Zelda have the BotW outfits. So much temporal chaos.
I just thought that that little detail was really neat and wanted to let you know about it, if you hadn't realized already.
Minor Spoilers, but I've actually been toying with the idea of having the Chain be all those other Link cameos that you've just mentioned. Of course it would be terrifically fun to do it either way, hence why I've also yet to make a decision about it. Wish me luck!
Also, my version of HW Link is named Lux

What do you think of the theory that there’s some connection between the Zonai and the Twili? It seems interesting to me but I think it’s more likely that they’re just thematically similar than the same group.
Yeah, I don’t think the Twili are returning, I’m afraid. The Zonai seem too “nice” to be our Interlopers. Not to mention it doesn’t fit Nintendo’s M.O. Usually, unless the games are explicitly sequels, we don’t see returning characters. Any returning characters who aren’t the Big Three are usually cameos of minor roles like Beedle, not somebody at “helper character” levels of plot-relevant. At most, we might see Midna’s helmet in the cute nods to earlier games in the DLC extras, but given how BotW itself seems to be a soft reboot of the series for a new generation of fans, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

I may sound like a broken record, but mayhaps Midzel again with 30 and Link cameo? Him and Midna caught about to do something stupid?
No problem at all! This one was really fun.
30-“It’s not what it looks like…”
Pairing- Midna x Zelda
(Again feat. Link, a walking disaster.)
If Zelda had known Link was this socially inept, she would have reconsidered inviting him to a social dinner. For sure, not all of it was his fault. For a country bumpkin he was surprisingly well behaved. It was mostly the way Link looked you directly in the eye, or how when he smiled you could see fangs, or the fact that he had run into the stone wall three times in a row. Zelda didn’t know if he was drunk, tired, or simply out of his element. For all she knew, he was always like this. Link wasn’t too big on social gatherings.
From the corner of her eye she saw Link stumble right into Midna. Goddesses, he was a disaster tonight. She watched as Link dragged Midna by the wrist and out the door, casting a suspicious glance over his shoulder. They had often been disappearing together lately, more frequently than ever. Zelda cocked her head. What were those two rascals up to? She set her chalice down and followed them, careful to leave a safe distance. She opened the door just in time to see them disappear into a closet. Zelda’s eyes narrowed. She crept to the thick oak door and pressed her ear to it. She only heard swatched of the conversation, but a few bits stood out painfully clear.
Link… love…I want…marry
Zelda gasped, then flung open the door. There was Midna with a beet red face. And there was Link, down on one knee.
“You’re…proposing?” Zelda felt the world crashing down around her. Link whipped around, eyes wide.
“Zel, it’s not what it looks like…”
“No.” Zelda felt tears dripping down her cheeks. “I’m so happy for you.”
She turned on her heel and rushed down the hallway, trying not to sob. She flung herself at the doors that opened to the balcony. The fresh air hit her suddenly. She steadied herself on a pillar, trying to comprehend what had just happened.
Link asked Midna to marry him.
Zelda felt like she was going to pass out. Had all the months, all the longing glances and stolen kisses mean nothing to Midna? She did suppose it made sense though. Midna had spent far more time with Link than she could have ever hoped. For goddesses’ sakes, they had saved the world together. How could she compare to something like that?
A tear fell, then another. Zelda could no longer hold it all back. Wet trails streaked down her cheeks and dripped to the cobblestone below. She collapsed on the bench and buried her head into her hands.
Gods, she had been so stupid.
Quiet footsteps echoed on the stone.
“Hey, princess.”
Zelda snapped to attention. There stood a sheepish Midna, fists clenched. Zelda straightened her shoulders, and tried not to look too miserable.
“So you and Link are engaged. What a pleasant surprise.”
Midna’s eyes widened. She snorted, then chuckled, then full on belly laughed. Again, tears pricked at the corners of her eyes. She was the laughing stock of the most amazing woman in the world. What a fool she had been.
“Oh, Zel. You think he proposed to me?” Midna chortled.
“H-he didn’t?” Zelda looked up, incredulous.
“No, he most certainly did not. In fact, he was doing quite the opposite.” Midna smiled shyly. “Can I sit here?”
Zelda nodded tentatively. Midna sat beside her, fist still clenched.
“What were you doing then?” Zelda sniffed, confused.
“Weeell,” Midna stretched out, rubbing the back of her head. “There’s something I kinda have been wanting to ask you.” She turned to Zelda, looking deep into her eyes.
“Zelda, I love you. You are my light, and I don’t know what I would do without you. And I was just wondering,” she slid off the bench and took a knee. She held up her clenched fist and opened it.
“Will you marry me?”
Zelda’s heart stopped. In her hand was a band of gold, topped with the most gorgeous sapphire she had ever seen in her life. She sat, dumbstruck.”
“Zelda? You still there or som-“
Zelda flew off the bench and kissed her deeply. Midna made a shocked noise.
“You want me to marry you?” Zelda separated , heart racing. “Are you serious?”
“What, you think I would put Link through all of this for nothing?” Midna scoffed sarcastically. “Trust me, Im for real.”
“Yes!” She squealed. Midna sighed.
“But what was all that with you and Link? You kept disappearing together, he literally got down on one knee for you.”
Midna blushed. “Yeah, I should probably explain that one to you. Link has been teaching me how to propose. That’s why we were always slipping away. I couldn’t risk the secret getting out.”
“And the kneeling?”
“So, I might have sent Link out to Death Mountain to find the most amazing sapphire he could. And he might have gotten bit by a skulltula. And maybe, just maybe, he’s been feeling the effects for the past week.”
Zelda smacked her forehead. “So that’s why he keeps running into walls and tripping on tables. He has Skulltula Sickness.”
“It’s kinda funny though. We should get him like this more often.”
A wave of shame washed over her.
“Well now I feel stupid.”
Midna laughed, then kissed her forehead.
“Yeah, it was pretty silly of you. But it was a weird thing to walk in on. Poor kid almost passed out in that closet.”
“And that explains the kneeling.”
Midna offered the ring. She shyly stretched out her hand, and Midna slipped it on. It was a perfect fit.
“Wow,” Zelda breathed. She looked up.
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Zel. Even if you thought I was cheating on you with Link.”
Zelda laughed. “Let’s just agree to never speak of this again.”
“Oh I don’t know princess,” Midna said slyly. “This is prime blackmail fodder.”
Zelda rolled her eyes, then went in for another kiss. Before they could make contact, the doors banged open. Zelda yelped, then whipped around.
Link was on the ground, passed out.
“Guess he wanted to know how it ended up,” Midna said. She met Zelda the rest of the way, capturing her in soft lips. Zelda sighed and ran her hands though her sunset locks.
“We should probably check to see if he’s okay.”
“He’ll be fine,” Midna whispered. “Let me enjoy you a little longer.”
Zelda couldn’t agree more .

Checks watch: Ooh, look at that. It’s time for another rant. So. Wall of text incoming. So, has it occurred to anyone else that, of the 6 Zelda fighters that are in Smash Bros. Ultimate, 3 of them are Link, 2 of them are Zelda, and one is Definitely Not Captain Falcon? Here’s another fun thing to think about: Technically, we haven’t had an entirely new Zelda character introduced to the game since Melee was released in 2001.
TWENTY YEARS AGO. Yes, I’m aware that Toon Link came with Brawl in 2008 (which is still 13 years and 2 entire games), but even so. Toon Link was a direct replacement for Young Link in that he is a smaller, faster Link. Besides, they’re still the same character, with the same moveset. What I’m getting at here is that... I honestly think that the Zelda series has been kinda neglected for fighters in recent years/DECADES. Especially considering the saturation of certain franchises that shall not be named. And, it’s not as if the series is lacking characters. I honestly think that Midna deserved to be playable in Brawl, and Ghirahim deserved to be in 4. Sadly, at this point, I think that their moment has kinda passed, and they would never get in now. Especially since both are assist trophies. I’ve heard that apparently Toon Zelda was intended for Brawl, but even so... this is just worsening the problem of having not enough diversity. Like, the Zelda series has some amazing characters, that have definitely deserved spots. But, they’ve been passed over for some... underwhelming picks, let’s say. (Yes, I’m salty.) In case it’s not obvious, what I’m getting at is that I want more Zelda reps. Specifically, ones from a somewhat recently released Zelda game that, uh... was pretty good, y’know? Obviously, I’m talking about Triforce Heroes. Jokes aside, I’ve wanted a BotW rep in Ultimate since it was announced. I do not consider Link to be a specific BotW rep, since I think that he more represents the Zelda series as a whole, since his moveset, appearance, etc. are the same between incarnations. Aside from his clothes, and the remote bomb, he could be literally any other Link. And, if/when the next big Zelda game and Smash Bros. game come out, he WILL be any other Link. I honestly think that BotW was momentous enough of a game to warrant its own dedicated rep (or 4, in a Pokemon Trainer style format). This feeling is given infuriating hope by the fact that the Champions are not assist trophies, nor background cameos in the Great Plateau Tower stage. In fact, the only manner in which they feature is as 2* support spirits. I mean... I can’t be the only one who thinks that they’re better than that, can I? So, yeah. Champions for Smash. It makes sense in so many ways, which is why it’s going to be so crushing when they inevitably are not announced. I mean, I’d even accept a Mii costume, but I’d wager we’re not getting that either. Lol. Fuck me, I guess. To elaborate, between the 20 (or 13) year drought of Zelda reps, the significance of BotW, plus the design and nature of the Champions, as well as the fact that they have not been deconfirmed, or have barely any presence at all in Ultimate, I genuinely believe that this is a fitting, and awesome, character to have in the game. Alas, I don’t think it’s ever gonna happen. Although, if, by some unfathomable luck, it did, then I would never complain about Byleth, Corrin, Roy, Chrom or Min-Min ever again. Either way. Praise Sakurai. He has done such an incredible job with Ultimate, and that will always deserve recognition and praise. It sounds entitled as fuck to think that you can demand your favourite/preferred character(s) to be in a game that you love, however after seeing other people being genuinely ecstatic to get their favourite/preferred character in the game, there is no harm in wanting to experience that same kind of joy for yourself.
(Provided that you don’t start sending death threats about it. That’s trashy as fuck.) None of the (new) characters announced for Ultimate (or even Sm4sh) have really been ‘for me’ in the sense that I was hyped beyond words at their announcement, so I’m kinda just really holding out for a miracle, here. Alas, not everyone can be pleased, so there will always be those who will be disappointed. And, alas, it’s the hope that really kills ya. Can’t wait for the final DLC character to be a Gen 8 Pokemon. Sigh.

the annotated Tome of the Wild
I don’t know how many people are interested in this sort of thing, but let’s go for it anyway! There are a lot, and I mean a LOT, of series references and cameos in this story, as well as tons of foreshadowing of various plot points, that may or not have gotten noticed, so I’ve been thinking about making a series of posts talking about it all for anyone curious. So here is part one, covering Chapter One: The Old Grist Mill.
(spoilers for the whole thing, obviously!)
- First up is the attire Link and Aryll are wearing. In the show, the protagonist, Wirt, is wearing a Halloween costume, though this isn’t immediately apparent that that’s the case. For Link’s costume, the choice was obvious: his Wind Waker clothing that you can get via amiibo in Breath of the Wild. Aryll, of course, is wearing the alternate pirate dress that you see her in when doing a second playthrough of WW.
- Then there’s the lengthy list of possible names Aryll tosses out for her frog. This is something that Greg, Wirt’s little brother, does at the beginning of the show, so I thought it’d be a fun way to sneak in a bunch of names that I wasn’t going to use otherwise.
Rauru: The Sage of Light in Ocarina of Time
Zauz: The blacksmith who forges the Phantom Sword in Phantom Hourglass
Snowpeak: For the Snowpeak Ruins, one of the best dungeons in Twilight Princess (and the series IMO)
Lorule: The “Dark World” of A Link Between Worlds
Vaati: The villain of Minish Cap (UNDERRATED GEM)
Swamp: Self-explanatory, there are multiple swamps in the series, like Misery Mire in Link to the Past and Goponga Swamp in Link’s Awakening
Lynel: The infamous, terrifying enemies we all know so well I hunt them for fun sometimes
Poe: Ghostly enemies that recur through the series (perhaps most memorably in TP)
Zonai: The mysterious long-lost race that built some very cool structures in BOTW
Ancient Columns: An area in BOTW where you find a memory and the Tena Ko’Sah shrine
Stealthfin: For the Stealthfin Trout in BOTW
Orca: The old swordsman on Outset Island
Ankle, Knuckle, David Jr.: Tingle’s brothers from WW
Guru-Guru: The Terminan version of the guy in the Windmill who teaches you the Song of Storms
Astor: The villain of Age of Calamity
Molduga: The sand-dwelling bosses in BOTW
Ook: A very hilarious and memorable mini-boss from TP
Tingle: The infamous Tingle, who of course Aryll thinks would be the worst name for her frog. Greg is cut off from saying what he thinks is the worst name, but I had to let Aryll speak for this little gag.
Phew, that was long. Moving on!
- “Rule one of the researcher's code is to never give up! That's what my teacher says, anyway.” Yes. Robbie is Aryll’s teacher, that is a line he says during the cutscene just before the “Relentless as a Waterfall” battle in Age of Calamity. As you might expect, Aryll finds him very amusing.
- Aryll stuck a piece of candy on a tiny black turtle that dripped an oily substance onto the forest floor as it crawled along. Dekuwood oil sighting! This is the very same turtle that gets swallowed by the dog that accosts them later, and the oil is what caused its transformation, just as it did in the show.
- “Why are we in the woods? How did we even get here? I don't... the last thing I remember is...” He screwed up his face in concentration. “Gah, why can't I remember? We were—” So Link goes into water and wakes up in a place he doesn’t know, with no memory of how he got there? Sound familiar?
- A shudder went through him and he resolved to ignore it, even as the sounds of ghostly laughter seemed to reach his ears from far off. And did the mists seem to be growing thicker? A reference to the Lost Woods from BOTW. Quite appropriate, given they’re lost in the forest.
- The mysterious woodsman is, of course, Rhoam. Who was also the first person that Link met in BOTW on the Great Plateau. He has a lantern there too, and carries around an ax, and is separated from his daughter. Just. Too easy.
- I’ll talk about this more in later posts, but, Midna in Beatrice’s role was one of the first and easiest choices I made when casting this thing. Also, notice how she takes off as soon as Rhoam shows up? This is a thing that happens in the series with the Woodsman and Beatrice, who have no prior connection, but Midna definitely knows this guy, and that reveal was held back for later via keeping that bit from the show.
- Also, in the show, the wood is called edelwood; here I chose dekuwood not just because of deku trees and whatnot in the series, but. well. Also to invoke the memory of the Deku Butler’s son in Majora’s Mask who became a victim of the Skull Kid and thus Link’s first mask.
- Link saying “Hey, listen” to Aryll is a callback to Navi’s infamous phrase from OOT.
- “Not in any way that would be beneficial to you.” Link will remember this later when the Beast is trying to get him and Midna to choose whose soul will be in the lantern.
- She leaned up on her toes and retrieved what looked like a compass. Compasses are, of course, a dungeon item in most of the games.
- The owl statue Aryll plays with, and subsequently breaks the beak of, is a reference to the owl statues in Link’s Awakening. Their eyes do indeed glow when you talk to them in the Switch remake, and in the dungeons you have to retrieve their broken-off beaks to converse with them.
- In the show, you don’t find about Wirt’s crush until much later, but I wanted to establish the plotline of Link’s love for Mipha and what he’s been doing about it right here at the beginning. His avoidance of her and what Aryll tells him about how its caused her so much pain is the beginning of his descent into despair near the end of the story. Not to mention that I hinted at the tape’s existence with Aryll’s reference to him making “that thing” for her.
- Aryll decides to call her frog “Blupee” after the glowing, rabbit-like spirit creatures in BOTW.
- “Sheikah smoke! Poof!”  A reference, of course, to how the Sheikah can appear or disappear in a puff of smoke.
- “He is the death of hope, a cunning calamity... he steals life, steals children... he, he...” A calamity, eh? Now where have we heard that phrase before? And Rhoam is, of course, alluding to his belief that the Beast is responsible for the disappearance of his daughter, Zelda.
- “Leave me now, young man... take your sister and go east.” In the show, the Woodsman tells Wirt to go north. But here, it’s east, because their next destination is Ikana, which is located in the eastern portion of Termina in MM.
- A half-moon the color of yellowed pages had risen in the sky by now, and by its light Link guided Aryll onto a path that he was reasonably sure led east. This bit of description is not just there to be pretty. I established a specific phase of the moon here so that I could go back and use the exact same description in later chapters, when more time had passed and it wouldn’t make any sense for there to actually be the same moon phase going on. This is a hint to the fact that everything in the Wild, takes place during the same night in Link’s world. This is something that you see visually in the show, but must be described in a fic.
and that’s it for chapter one! stay tuned for chapter two!

Finally finished with the headcanon of the Twili and the Twilight Realm! Or at the very least the main stuff regarding them and their culture. O: Took me so long ‘cuz I had to draw everything up first but I’m really happy with how everything came out. Now before I get into the headcanon I’d like to thank ya’ll for allowing me to have some of your OCs cameo in the post, it saved me quite a bit of time instead of me having to design the characters from the ground up, and it was a lot of fun! <: The following is featured:
Panel 1:
Akamu (owned by drawingshady) Rishai (owned by takitacomako) Eclipse (owned by Desphiria)
Panel 2:
Dream Walker (owned by elosoquelee) Cass (owned by furysscorn) Alix (owned by Crunchy-Cucumber)
Again thank you all so much! ^.^ Aight then, now onward to the headcanon!
---------------------------
-The Twili are a unique race that inhabit the Twilight Realm, a realm of which they didn’t originate from but have since made their home all those many centuries ago. They were once Hylian but when their ancestors, a group called “The Interlopers” were banished to the Twilight Realm for their crimes, they have since evolved to adapt to their environment and, in turn, have evolved into a race of their own.
-Twili are covered in a short but thick coat of fur, often coming in two different tones and distinct markings. The tones are usually a greenish gray or blue-grey with a much lighter color of the same tone, however it isn’t too uncommon to see Twili with a more reddish tint to their fur. Their hair color is often a unique gradient of red to yellow and their eyes are often a shade of red (with the sclera usually a light yellow). Despite having normal-like feet, the Twili are digitgrade and always stand on the tips of their toes. Twili all have slit pupils, claw-tipped fingers, and small-ish fangs adorning their mouths: they are most likened to being more “feral” in appearance in comparison to their Hylian relatives, which is true to some extent.
All Twili have natural tattoos that are etched into their skin (and is entirely visible through their fur), and these marks have the capacity to glow if the individual is using magic. These tattoos are almost always a bright green-blue or electric blue in color. While each individual’s tattoos are generally different, all Twili have tattoos that seem to share the same motifs and repeated patterns as shown in the “Common Markings” panel above.
-The three headshots show off rare color mutations seen within the Twili. All the information about these mutations can be seen and read in the info-boxes of each headshot above! <:
-The Twili, given their evolution to better inhabit their environment, all have a sensitivity to the sun. Exposure to the sun doesn’t necessarily harm them however sunlight upon their bodies can cause discomfort, especially if exposed for too long. Overexposure to extreme and direct sunlight or divine light can be harmful or even lethal to a Twili (ex: Midna being mortally wounded when exposed to a Light’s spirit’s unfiltered light directly). As a means to protect themselves, the Twili will often don hooded cloaks when visiting the Light Realm.
-Culturally, the Twili are indifferent and unbothered by nudity. It isn’t uncommon to see a Twili waltzing around in near nothing as far as clothing goes, however all Twili wear loincloths out of politeness instead of any real embarrassment to their bodies. Pants and shirts are very rarely worn unless the Twili’s specific profession requires it, which will be talked about a little more in detail below.
-The Twili don’t quite follow the typical social ranking system often seen in other cultures. That’s to say, “Upper-class, Middle-class, Working-class, ect” doesn’t necessarily exist in the Twili’s culture. Instead they are categorized by the profession they choose to partake in, though that doesn’t necessarily separate them from each other, due to their belief that every Twili serves an important purpose to their society, no matter where they’re born or who they’re born to. The only exception to this belief are religious figures and royalty, but while Royalty are distinguished by blood, any Twili can become a religious figure should they choose to commit themselves to the profession.
At any rate, their society is categorized by profession:
Artisans: Twili who’s focus is on the artistry of their culture. Includes professions such as: Painters, writers, musicians, craftsmen, architects, chefs, so on.
Enforcers: Twili who’s roles are to provide law enforcement and the protection of their people. Includes professions as: warriors, law enforcers, knights to the crown, judges, so on.
Providers: Twili who’s roles focus on providing the necessities of living to their society. Includes professions as: hunters, farmers, fishermen, healers/doctors, so on.
Mentors: Twili who focus on the pursuit for knowledge as well as the desire to share that knowledge. Includes professions such as: philosophers, teachers, librarians, wizards/witches
Spirituals: Twili who’s focus is on the spiritual and religious aspect of their society, they act as the superficial bridge between their people and the gods they worship. Includes professions such as: Priests and Priestesses, shamans, monks
-Despite their non-nonchalance toward clothing, what a Twili wears can indicate their profession. For example: a monk or a shaman are often seen in etched pants or traditional robes, while a Twili with a profession in fashion may wear transparent silks and an abundance of jewelry. Twili with practical and labor-based professions, like farming or metalsmithing, are unlikely to wear anything more than the bare minimum of the cultural loincloth so it won’t get in the way of their work, while royalty and Twili involved with the government are often seen wearing moderate but relatively intricate jewelry, often in copper or bronze.
-Midna is no longer the Queen of the Twili, having since willingly stepped down to allow another leader to the throne. However, the events of Twilight Princess has since elevated her as a sort of demi-god to her people, much to her chagrin. As a living deity to her culture, Midna still retains much of the power she had as queen, if not moreso given her current status. If you’d like to learn more about Midna in my headcanon, you can check out the post dedicated to her HERE.
-The panel with the 2 BG speedpaintings are my vision of the track leading to the Twilight Realm and the Twilight Realm itself respectively. The destruction of the mirror may have made traveling between the realms more difficult but it didn’t make it impossible. Sometime in her long-standing rule as the Queen of the Twili, Midna eventually went hard at work to re-establish that direct connection to the realms and, once she did, set out to put into place an alliance between the Twilight Realm and the Light Realm. It took a couple of long centuries before it was fully in effect, and from that point on relation between the two realms have only grown stronger. It wasn’t long before transportation between the realms was established, which in turn only strengthened their comradery. Nowadays it’s very common to see Light Dwellers visiting or even living in the Twilight Realm, and vice versa for the Twili.
-The Twilight Realm is accessible through the use of a Spirit Train, a unique locomotive that has access to traveling into realms connected to its native one. The train that runs to the Twilight Realm is a one-way train that travels through nearly every possible realm that’s available to visit, with the Twilight Realm being it’s first stop.
-The last panel is a depiction of a Twili Wolf. The Twili Wolf is a sacred animal in Twili culture, a creature who was once of the light realm before adapting to the Twilight Realm way before the Twili even inhabited the land, they are a symbol of survival, freedom, and power. Their heads are covered in a strange skull-like chitin that is often mimicked by the Twili when making armor and artifacts. The Twili Wolf is typically huge, about as big as a horse, and they have orbs of raw magical energy rolling off their fur as if it were flickers of flame.
---------------------------
WHEW! A long-winded headcanon but I’m pretty happy with the result! I hope ya’ll like the headcanon here and if ya have any questions you’re more than free to ask. Otherwise, thank you so much for takin’ a look! <:

@mon-berry I love leaving it up to the viewer when Link will find out, but I love the idea of BOTW 2 Link (or whatever last reincarnation of Link) finally realizing it and bringing GUG Link’s forehead gem to a withered Ganondorf. If you want extra angst, Link can always remember his past memories of GUG Ganondorf right after he finishes the Gerudo King off. :)
Tumblr media
@bitterhonuey No plans for Vaati in the story unfortunately... Perhaps a cameo, but we don’t have any plans of adding him in.
Tumblr media
@femaleganondorfdragmire That’s an interesting HC! Midna and Zant are not related in our AU though.
Tumblr media
@themultihope Yes, they can! They don’t play a huge role in GUG as we originally planned, but they certainly have that skill. I mean, how else are they gonna share Baby Link without bickering? :p
Tumblr media
@ghengis-kun Yes! We planned GUG before the release of BOTW, so it was a pleasant surprise when we noticed how Rhoam and BOTW Zelda are similar to GUG Daphnes and GUG Zelda. BOTW Zelda did help us with fleshing her out a bit further in our own AU. :)
Tumblr media
@d00dlegh00st He wrapped Link into a baby burrito and carried him everywhere, of course. :P I’m pretty sure he also used the little bib thing he wears as a convenient baby sling.
Tumblr media
@scribblewriting65 Actually, Roy and I did a one-shot RP once of Ghirahim giving little Link the Fierce Deity mask for shits and giggles. He got... rather destructive... Let’s just say Ganondorf was not horribly pleased with Ghirahim. That’s enough asks for now. If your question wasn’t answered, it’s likely because it involves a spoilery response. Thank you for your patience, feedback and support! <3

So I finally finished @returnsandreturns ten song fic meme from weeks ago. The results include lots of MattFoggy, a hint of Kastle, a smidge of Elektra, and a Billy Russo cameo.
1. What is This Feeling?
Foggy knows his roommate doesn’t like him.
And look, he’s blind so maybe Foggy should be nicer to him or something. But the guy’s, like — a huge asshole. He’s constantly criticizing Foggy -- his eating habits, his hygiene, his taste in entertainment -- or eschewing words altogether to offer up these just, scathing expressions.
And Foggy tries, ok! He keeps the floor clear for Matt because honestly he’s not a dick, ok, he knows no matter what their issues with each other are, that’s no excuse to not accommodate Matt’s disability. But come on, when Matt complains that Foggy’s music — which he’s listening to through headphones — is too loud, he’s just bullshitting. So yeah, it might not be like, very cool of him, but he dislikes Matt right back.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t stop Matt from being unfairly mega hot. In the end, that only really helps Foggy hate him more. Someone who’s that much of a dick should not be so pretty. Now if only Foggy could stop daydreaming about shoving him against a wall and kissing him, everything would be perfect.
2. Never Let This Go
Matt’s content. He is. Or... He chose this, at least. It’s what he wanted. To not have to worry that he was putting the people he cared about in danger. To not have to listen to every sense he has tell him that Foggy is pulling further away, that his trust in Matt is unraveling thread by thread.
And yet, he still finds himself crouched on the fire escape outside Foggy’s new apartment, hands clinging tight to the railing as he listens to Foggy’s sleeping heartbeat, the one familiar sensation in the whole building. The smells and sounds are different — expensive cologne, expensive clothing, expensive furniture, expensive food. It takes time to burrow past all that to Foggy, and it aches.
He wants— to be in there, to be Nelson and Murdock again instead of Daredevil alone. But the evidence is staring him in the face, and even if he can’t see it he’s got plenty of other senses to tell him — Foggy’s changed, and Matt doesn’t have a place here anymore.
3. Midna’s Theme
The rain is falling in sheets. Elektra knows she would be more comfortable inside. Dry, and warm. But here she sits, crouched on the edge of the rooftop like a foolish gargoyle. Just closes her eyes and tilts her head back and lets the rain cry for her, Lets the wind tangle slow, frigid fingers through her dark hair. She’s made her choices, all of them, and they’ve led her here. But that doesn’t mean she has no regrets. The wind swirls around her, in, out. She breathes with it, opens her eyes to watch a streak of moonlight break past the clouds. When the light vanishes again, so does she.
4. London (Live Version)
Karen knows she doesn’t belong here. The couples swirl around the glamorous ballroom like dancers in a tinkling music box. Everything glitters and shines. But like a dream, she weaves through the party, unnoticed by anyone. It’s as though she’s a mirage. Or maybe they are.
But she’s not here to watch the beauty, no matter how captivating it is. She’s here to find the truth and get out before midnight. She’s here to—
With a suddenness that pulls the breath from her lungs, her hand is grasped, and she’s tugged into a waltz. A moment later, her breath catches again when she looks up to see a familiar, rugged face. Frank’s expression is as impassive as ever, but there’s a twinkle in his dark eyes that makes her think he’s amused.
“You’re alive,” she breathes, hardly feeling the way they glide across the floor in wide, elegant arcs.
“Promised you,” he rumbles in that low, low voice that sends shivers down her spine. “Didn’t I?”
The ballroom could be on fire and Karen wouldn’t notice.
“Yes. You did.”
5. At the Beginning
The Matt standing across from him, here at the altar, is covered in more shimmering silver scars than Foggy could ever count. His nose is a little crooked now from being broken so often. There were times, so many times, that Foggy thought... But despite all the trials and dangers in their lives, he hasn’t lost Matt. No matter how many times they’ve walked away or been pushed apart, they’re here now.
There are laugh lines at the corners of Matt’s lovely mouth and the first strands of white in his hair. But when he grins, bright and joyful, Foggy sees him as he was at the beginning — scrawny, sheepish, in a dumpy hand-me-down sweater and two dollar shades. That smile, Foggy’s favorite smile, is still the same after all these years. And Matt is so, so beautiful.
Neither of them gets through their vows with dry eyes. But when he gets to brush tear tracks from Matt’s cheeks and kiss him, well, Foggy hardly minds.
6. Hello, Young Lovers
(Obligatory Bittersweet Time Travel AU)
Foggy watches from the window, leans against the frame and smiles sadly as he watches Matty and a young version of himself pull up short in front of each other. They’re both pink-faced and shy. Foggy remembers what that was like, the tongue-tied embarrassment, the eagerness, the desire to be close. Eighteen and knowing, somehow, that there could never be anybody else but Matt, not really.
He’d never seen the dopey smiles on his own face of course, but he imagines the one on young Foggy’s face matches. The two teens walk off together, talking and laughing, nudging one another. Foggy continues to stare down at the street long after they’ve passed out of sight, reminiscing.
His own memories of Matt aren’t always happy, but he still has them to wrap around himself as he hopes that he’s changed enough, hopes that the two kids strolling on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen below have a chance to lead a simpler, safer, longer life together.
7. Love is an Open Door
Foggy’s not expecting much of a response — he doesn’t, generally speaking, especially from guys as good-looking as this one — when he calls the man at the bar ‘handsome’. What he gets is a startled look and a sweet smile.
“Handsome?” He asks, like he’s not sure.
“Uh, Yeah. Do you not use mirrors or something...?”
The guy laughs.
“I generally get... Something else,” he tells Foggy, holding out a hand. “Billy Russo.”
Foggy shakes it.
“Foggy Nelson, nice to meet you, Billy.”
“Foggy, huh?” Billy tilts his head thoughtfully. “It suits you. Well, Foggy, can I buy you a drink?”
There is no way in hell Foggy’s turning down a drink from this guy. No way.
“I wish you would,” he says, trying to copy the coy little smirk that Marci and Matt both do so well.
It must work, considering the scorching look Billy sends his way as he absently waves the bartender over.
8. She (For Liz)
(fem!MattFoggy Into the Spider-Verse AU)
Matt is... Something else. Foggy’s known for having a fumbling manner and no filter at the best of times but Matt makes her practically incoherent. And it sucks, because all Foggy wants to do is spout gorgeous love poetry at her, anything that can capture how beautiful Matt is. How she makes the whole world shine.
Every time Foggy thinks to herself, screw it, today’s the day I’m going to say it, today’s the day I’m going to tell her I love her, no matter how stupid I sound when I do... The moment Matt turns a dazzling smile on her or says something clever, Foggy’s courage just dries right up. How can she possibly risk losing this, losing the best friend she’s ever had? Matt’s brilliant and charming and totally badass and Foggy’s not sure she can live without her anymore. The words cut at the inside of her mouth like glass. It hurts to keep them in. But ruining her friendship with Matt would hurt worse.
Foggy’s a coward, and she keeps her mouth shut.
9. Doomsday
Foggy swallows. Listens to the rush of his pulse in his ears. Stares at the empty wall in front of him.
“No,” he says, because it’s the only thing he ever could.
The only sound he can form to disavow the impossibility in front of him. The wall stays blank. The portal swirling out of it only seconds ago is gone. And Matt is on the other side.
“I’m sorry, Foggy,” Danny says.
“Sorry, you’re—“ sputters Foggy. “You’re sorry! He’s gone! He’s gone and I’ll never see him again but hey, at least you’re sorry!”
“Foggy!” snaps Karen, and all the anger dissolves instantly.
“I’m.” He shakes his head. “I can’t. You have to take me back, I need— I have to get back to him.”
Danny can’t even meet his eyes.
“I can’t. I’m sorry, there’s no way back. I’m so sorry.”
10. She Is
(fem!MattFoggy Into the Spider-Verse AU)
The moment that Matt realizes she’s in love with Foggy, they’re in the middle of a study group, with three other people crammed into their dorm room. Foggy’s just cracked a stupid joke and is laughing about it. It’s the most adorable sound Matt’s ever heard, and it makes her tingle down to her toes.
She very calmly excuses herself, very calmly walks down the hall to the dorm bathrooms, locks herself in one, and proceeds to hyperventilate.
How, Matt wonders frantically. How did I not notice?
But she doesn’t have an answer. She’s thought, almost since the beginning, that Foggy was sweet and charming and funny and brilliant. She challenges Matt, makes her better, pulls her out of her shell. Foggy makes everything better. She’s easy to love. But that’s not the same as being in love with her. As wanting her. And Matt does want her. She wants Foggy’s silly, drunken cheek kisses to find her mouth instead. Wants Foggy to say, “you’re beautiful, Matty,” in the same besotted way she always speaks to her latest boyfriend or girlfriend.
Foggy’s not at all the kind of person Matt would expect herself to end up with. She’s always pictured someone sharp, hard, a bit broken — like herself. Foggy’s nothing like that, soft and warm and sweet. But she’s perfect.
“I am so,” Matt breathes hopelessly, “so fucked.”
